A Professional Mermaid in Hawaii Finally Got Her Dream Wedding Photos - See Them Here!

Stephanie and Paul are a real-life couple who've been married for about a year. While they love living in Honolulu (Stephanie is professional mermaid on the island of Oahu!), they wanted to redo their wedding photos as they hoped they would've turned out the first time around. So, a team of amazing vendors in Hawaii came together to make the couple's dream come true.

To match the whimsical and elegant nature of a mermaid, Stephanie wore a stunning lace-sleeved dress and remained barefoot throughout the shoot. Instead of a traditional garter, she wore a floral Hawaiian lei around her leg. The couple's sunset photos were just gorgeous!

See them ahead.

Don't Look Down: Traveling With Anxiety as a Flight Attendant

Before working as a flight attendant, I was able to use yoga to keep my anxiety under control. Over the past couple of years my new, high-stress job has invited my anxiety to creep back in. It rose to an all time high last Summer, when I had frequent panic attacks before work and an anxiety-induced headache that lasted two weeks. I became convinced that I could no longer fly. However, with a lot of trial and error, I figured out a few ways to calm the storm in my mind. I still have anxiety, but it no longer controls me. While I am by no means a therapist or psychiatrist (I'm just a yoga teacher turned flight attendant with anxiety!), here are my favorite tips for traveling with anxiety that I've found helpful - and hopefully you will, too.

1. Wear Ear Plugs

One of the reasons we get so stressed and anxious when we fly is due to the intense sound waves that raise the cortisol (stress hormone) levels in our body. Sounds above 85 decibels (sound waves at common cruising altitude) are harmful and long exposure can cause hearing problems. With decibels peaking at 90 to 140 during take off and landing, wearing ear plugs helps to maintain healthy hearing, as well as calm the nervous system.

2. Practice Grounding

Grounding is the simple act of walking around with your feet in the grass, ocean, soil, or whatever natural footing is available in your new destination. The practice has been scientifically proven to balance the energy in your body with the positive charge from the earth. It helps tremendously with jet lag, which can often set off anxiety.

3. Meditate

It doesn't have to be fancy. If you're a novice, start with your eyes closed, take 10 slow breaths in and out of your nose, and try to focus on the sensation of your breath. Count your breaths if you get too distracted. Meditation is a fabulous way to ease the physical symptoms of anxiety (increased heart rate, shortness of breath, sweaty palms, etc).

4. When You Can Sleep, Try to Sleep as Well as Possible

Things that help me are ear plugs, an eye mask, and lavender oil. The ear plugs ensure no noisy ice machines or loud party guests next door wake you. The eye mask helps your body's circadian rhythm sync to whichever time zone you are in. The lavender oil allows the senses to calm.

5. Hydrate!

Buy water, bring a water bottle to fill, or freeze it to get it through security (trust me, it works!). Having water on hand helps to keep your brain functioning properly and takes the stress out of waiting in line to buy some.

6. Find a Quiet Space in the Airport

This can be extremely difficult at times, but it is worth the hunt. These days, several airports have either a chapel/mediation room and or even a yoga room! If your airport does not have these rooms, look for a quiet hallway. Hint: they're generally between terminals.

Airports with yoga rooms:

  • San Francisco Airport (SFO)
  • Chicago O'Hare Airport (ORD)
  • Chicago Midway Airport (MDW)
  • Dallas-Fort Worth Airport (DFW)
  • Burlington Airport (BTV)
  • Sioux Falls Airport (FSD)
  • Helsinki Airport (HEL)
  • London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
  • Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

7. Pack Snacks

Plan ahead as to not rely on airport food. Some airports have decent options, but having all of your meals and or snacks with you (as much as possible) will take some of the anxiety out of the trip.

8. Take Your Meds!

Maybe this should have been number one. I never had a prescription for Xanax until I became a flight attendant. If you think you have an anxiety disorder you should talk to your doctor, especially if you travel frequently. If you are against taking any prescription drugs (which I definitely understand), try Maca root. This ancient Peruvian root is an adaptogen (a substance that may increase resistance to stress) and also a proven mood enhancer.

9. Have a Support System

Have some of your best friends and/or therapists on call for you. It helps if you can have someone on call who also experiences anxiety. There are an increasing amount of therapy apps as well that are less expensive than cognitive therapy (such as Better Help).

Gordon Ramsay Reveals the 1 Place You Should Never Eat

Sure, Gordon Ramsay has high standards, but is there really anything he would never eat? Turns out it's more of a place where he would never eat rather than one specific food - and that's on a plane. In an interview with Refinery29, Gordon revealed his feelings about airplane food and why those feelings might be justified. "There's no f*cking way I eat on planes," he said. "I worked for airlines for 10 years, so I know where this food's been and where it goes, and how long it took before it got on board." Yikes. The man has a point - there's no denying that airplane food is not the best.

So what's a traveler to do to avoid midflight hunger, according to the world-renowned chef? If you're like him, you'll make time to stop at a nice Italian restaurant for a little meat and cheese. "A nice selection of Italian meats, a little glass of red wine, some sliced apples or pears with some parmesan cheese," Gordon says of his ideal airport snack.

Alternatively, of course, you could eat at Gordon Ramsay's very own Plane Food, a restaurant in Terminal 5 of the London Heathrow Airport. There, you'll find truffle mac and cheese, Szechuan squid, and spicy tuna tartare . . . certainly nothing that's reheated in convection ovens on an airplane.

A New Hello Kitty Bullet Train Is Coming to Japan, and It's Undeniably Adorable

It's time to add another must-do item to your Hello Kitty travel bucket list. On March 14, West Japan Railway Co. (JR West) announced the launch of a new Hello Kitty bullet train that will debut on its Sanyo Shinkansen Line, which connects Osaka to Fukuoka, in Summer 2018. According to the company's release, the current 500 Series Shinkansen train "will be reborn" as Hello Kitty Shinkansen - and you better believe it will be decked out in the most adorable ways.

The design is themed around Hello Kitty's ribbon, with the idea that the bullet train will help connect passengers to different regions within the western part of the country. You can find out more on the special Hello Kitty Shinkansen site, and map out your dream Sanrio-filled travel plan in the meantime - we'll be doing the same.

The 1 Thing You Should Be Spending Money on to Be Happy

The next time you're considering splurging on an expensive new leather jacket or big-screen TV you don't necessarily need instead of saving the cash to put toward a trip to Europe, think twice. Memories last A LOT longer than material things - and science proves it.

Dr. Thomas Gilovich, a psychology professor at Cornell University, wrote a study in the Journal of Consumer Psychology called "A Wonderful Life: Experiential Consumption and the Pursuit of Happiness." In it, he concludes that "as important as possessions might be to a person's identity and sense of self," they are not as important as a person's experiences. "We are the sum total of our experiences. We are not the sum total of our possessions, however important they might be to us. If called upon to write our memoirs, it is our experiences we would write about, not our possessions."

As someone with endless wanderlust, this comes as great news. Dr. Gilovich makes the point that "sharing something more central to the self [like experiences] is certain to produce a greater feeling of kinship and connection than sharing something more peripheral." This means that making memories with people - especially through once-in-a-lifetime experiences like those we encounter when we travel - results in a greater bond than if just material items, like physical gifts, are shared.

I'm a minimalist in some ways, but like everyone, I do really enjoy my "things." The study by no means is saying that some material possessions aren't important (and of course in some cases, essential), but it does justify putting aside your hard-earned money for something a little less fleeting than a physical thing. Instead, spend it on an experience. Make a memory with someone (or with yourself!) that will last forever. Gilovich hopes this research will "serve as a useful guide to consumers as they decide how to spend their limited disposable income . . . and to all of us as we try to figure out how to live a wonderful life."

You Can Buy the Real-Life House From 10 Things I Hate About You, Brooding Teens Not Included

It's been nearly 20 years since 10 Things I Hate About You hit theaters and had every '90s teen adding Fender guitars to their Christmas lists, quoting Kat Stratford ("I guess, in this society, being male and an asshole makes you worthy of our time"), and pining for their own version of a brooding Heath Ledger. Repeat movie viewings, however, had us also daydreaming about the Stratford family house. Oh, that wrap-around porch! The original woodwork! That staircase right off the foyer perfect for greeting prom dates!

Well, as it turns out, fans can now buy the real-life Victorian home featured in the 1999 film. For a cool $1.6 million.

The 5,700-square foot abode - with five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and custom inlay hardwood floors - is on the market for the first time in more than 30 years. That's right: the sellers owned the house during the movie's filming!

So, if your ideal day includes journaling on the porch after an epic paintball game with your crush and you are looking to make a move (it's perched atop the popular Old Tacoma, WA, waterfront), just reach out to realtor Jeff Jensen. If, however, you think it's out of your price range, remember what Patrick Verona once said: "Don't let anyone, ever, make you feel like you don't deserve what you want."

Read on for a closer look at the house's interior and exterior as well as a few iconic 10 Things I Hate About You scenes that took place there.

4 Tips From Flight Attendants For Surviving Your Next Transatlantic Trip

I'm a passionate traveler. There are few things I'd rather do than fill up a suitcase (only halfway, gotta leave room for the gifts!) and board a flight to some far-flung destination. But, admittedly, I'm also a delicate flower. That means even the most serene and uncrowded transatlantic flight is likely to put my body and brain out of whack in nearly every imaginable way.

It's well known that air travel can do a number on your health. I somehow manage to experience nearly every single woe - from dry skin and breakouts to stomach upset and extreme fatigue. (Flying can also make me very cranky, though that may simply be because I'm an underpaid journalist, so I never have the chance to take first class.)

This is why every time I travel, I marvel at how flight attendants always look so rested and happy. How exactly does that person opening your can of tomato juice manage to stay calm, fresh-faced, and presumably healthy while the airbus makes a mad dash across the friendly skies?

I decided to inquire whether there's a magic elixir flight attendants aren't sharing with their passengers. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. However, the ones I spoke with did have a few suggestions to make air travel a little less punishing. Here are their helpful tips.

1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Then do it some more, said Tracye Tipps, a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines. "You must stay hydrated, not just for your skin, but for the good of your body."

One way to tell if you're getting enough water is to look at your pee. Yellow urine indicates that you're dehydrated, so get drinking. It's also wise not to get on a plane without a bottle of water. Yes, it's true, water is overpriced in airport terminals and you can't take full bottles through security. However, you can put a reusable water bottle in your carry-on and fill it up by the gate so you're able to pound some before getting on the plane. If you're willing to pay for water once through security, flight attendant Whitlie Irving from Delta Airlines recommends purchasing more than one. "When traveling through different regions of the world, I always bring two bottles of water with me: one to drink, and one to wash my face with. It can help prevent breakouts that happen due to [the] constantly changing consistency of the tap water used to wash my face with."

2. Keep it clean

While commercial air travel has revolutionized the world, it has also made people far more vulnerable to infectious diseases and less life-threatening ailments such as the common cold. Some research suggests that air travel increases one's risk for getting sick by more than 100 times. One study found that antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as MRSA can thrive in an airline cabin for as much as 168 hours. That's alarming enough to compel Irving to never leave home without her antibacterial hand sanitizer. It's also not overkill to take a shower and change your clothes promptly after checking into your hotel. In fact, it's probably more crazy not to do that.

3. Move around, but also know when to rest

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity exercise, or 75 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic activity. Unfortunately, walking up and down the aisle of a plane during your flight doesn't count for either, so you'll have to do the math and deal with that when you disembark.

Flight attendants know this. They have to find a comfortable balance between resting after long trips and moving around to stay healthy. When Tipps has overnights, she likes to go for long walks and explore the unfamiliar city she finds herself in, if the weather permits (one of the perks of traveling the world for work!). Though most hotels she stays at have gyms, it's far more enjoyable to be out and about.

However, for some people, keeping exercise a little casual provides too much temptation to cheat oneself out of a workout, so Irving suggests finding ways to prepare so you won't skip it. She plans for exercise in her hotel room. That can mean traveling with a resistance band - easy, cheap, and light to take anywhere with you - or a yoga mat. A yoga mat may be a little more bulky, though it can double as a place to sleep if you end up camping out under the stars. "If you have a workout routine, make sure it accommodates a flexible lifestyle," she said. "Download your favorite workout programs ahead of time, or make sure they're streamable to a laptop."

Additionally, Tipps adds that it's important to know when to rest. "I also enjoy my quiet time in my hotel room with the TV off," she said. "We have so much noise in our lives as flight attendants . . . airplane noise, airport noise. Just having a quiet room to slow your heart rate and pace of life down is something I enjoy."

4. Watch what you eat

A buildup of gas in the body is common while cruising at high altitudes. And it seems the higher you go, the worse the discomfort may get. Though "jet bloat" can't be avoided completely, there are ways to minimize discomfort so that after an eight-hour trip you can still wear your skinny jeans with confidence. Tipp recommends staying away from gas-producing foods such as beans and broccoli. It's also probably best to skip foods that are binding, such as dairy products and red meat. Being a frequent traveler also exposes a person to a number of different bacterium that can upset the gut, which is why most doctors (and many flight attendants) encourage probiotics. These "good bacteria" keep the digestive system in check.

But eating regular (and healthy) meals can be a challenge for anyone while traveling. "The biggest thing for eating on the go is packing our meals, since it can be easy to fall into the trap of convenient, unhealthy airport fast food," said Joshua Barber, a flight attendant with Southwest. "And stopping to eat at the airport or hotel can easily cut into your sleep time." Which is to say, packing healthy foods and snacks is the best way to avoid asking Barber for another bag of pretzels.

18 Secrets From Flight Attendants That Will Change the Way You Fly

Does a cheaper flight mean a less safe flight? What happens if your plane is struck by lightning? And why do we have to put our seats in the upright position for landing? The keepers of the answers to your burning questions are the very same people serving you cocktails and snack packs. Flight attendants see it all, and they know the ins and outs of air travel.

We spoke to two flight attendants who both work for one of the top three major US airlines - they answered our questions on the condition of anonymity. From the things that annoy flight attendants to tips and tricks they practice when they're flying, these expert travelers have secrets that will calm your fears and may make you think twice before you complain extra loud about your dinner not being just right on your next flight. Read on for the juicy details only flight attendants can provide.

1. What are some things that annoy flight attendants?

"Discourteous passengers, touching the flight attendant to get their attention as we walk by, whispering (the airplane can be very loud and I'm not the best at reading lips!), complaining about weather and/or aircraft maintenance delays (we don't have any control over this, and we are just as inconvenienced as you are)."

2. Why do tray tables and seats have to be in upright position for takeoffs and landings?

"Especially the tray tables! During an evacuation, where every second matters to get away from the plane, if a tray table is down it will slow down the egress of the two passengers on the middle and window seat. If the aircraft were on fire, wouldn't you want a clear escape path to the exit? Same goes for the seat back. Any added obstacle will slow egress in an emergency."

3. What is something flight attendants wish passengers knew/understood?

"We don't choose what we serve - we simply show up and serve what's there, and if it's not there, you're not getting any. We also have no control when it comes to delays due to weather and/or aircraft maintenance. So please, be courteous to us in the event those may occur. As Captain Sullenberger said, 'Better a delay than a disaster!'"

4. What are some common myths that people believe about flying that aren't true?

"That the brace position is meant to kill you faster - I find this to be the most ridiculous myth; in a crash landing you wouldn't want to be tucked away and brace your body for impact by compacting it and covering your vitals such as neck, face, stomach, etc. Even flight attendants have a brace position, and we do it every takeoff and landing!"

5. Does a cheaper ticket/airline mean a less safe flight?

"Absolutely not! A lot of variables make up the complex formula for ticket price such as time of booking, cabin, seat, frequent flyer status and miles, airplane configuration, in-flight service on that particular flight, optional items like baggage allowance or seat assignment. Basically, all aircraft are subject to FAA regulations, and we wouldn't be in the business if safety wasn't our number one priority. Airlines are able to customize their product to their brand, but safety remains the number one focus."

6. What sort of training does a flight attendant go through?

"Training is on average five and a half weeks, most of which is unpaid. In training we learn and are tested to proficiency on certain items such as aircraft general, first aid, security, and evacuation drills. Only about four days is spent on service!"

7. What are flight attendants trained in, in terms of safety emergency situations, both plane and people-related?

"We have a lot of formal training in safety and emergency situations. Four of our five weeks of intense, six-days-a-week training was spent on safety and emergency situations. Most of our people-related situations are learned on the job. We have been hired/selected by other professional flight attendants for our ability to make good decisions and to be able to read situations and people with good judgment. So many of us are well equipped to handle these situations that come up, but sometimes it does take a second opinion of another crew member."

8. What happens when one engine goes out?

"All aircraft are certified to fly with one engine operation for a safe landing. The aircraft that fly over water are ETOPS certified. Airplanes are aerodynamic, meaning they are designed so air can easily flow around the airplane to decrease drag so they can glide in descent for an extended time with one working engine. One example is Air Canada Flight 143, which ran out of fuel at 41,000 feet and managed to glide and land without a loss of life. And then there's the all too famous US Airways flight 1549 - so in short, engine failure isn't like a flat tire, just a rare inconvenience."

9. Can turbulence make a plane crash?

"No, but it can be unsettling and even throw people about. Due to modern technology, turbulence can now easily be predicted than ever before. In general the pilots know what's ahead of their aircraft at all times, but severe turbulence does happen unexpectedly from time to time. Most turbulence-related injuries are actually to flight attendants, as we are more vulnerable being out of our jumpsuits most of the flight. The main danger to passengers is not being seated with their seat belts fastened when this unlikely event occurs or unsecured items becoming instant projectiles."

10. What happens if the landing gear fails?

"Simple, we land without it! This event is actually called a 'belly landing,' where the plane lands on the belly without the gear lowered. This event has actually happened where LOT Polish Airlines Flight 16 landed with out the gear lowered with emergency vehicles and personnel on the ground standing by. The plane landed without incident on its belly, and the flight attendants warranted an evacuation - all 231 people were evacuated via the escape slides without injury or loss of life."

11. Is it safe to fly during a thunderstorm? What happens when a plane is hit by lightning?

"Planes are designed to be hit by lightning both in the air and on the ground! Thanks to the engineers who design the plane. The skin of the aircraft acts as a conductor to keep lightning from entering the internal parts of the aircraft, such as the cabin or anything such as flight controls that may affect the well-being of the airplane, and the lightning is redirected out through the wings and tail. There may be damage to the plane (rare), but it will make a safe landing. Thanks to the engineers and plane manufacturers, an airliner has not crashed from lightning in over 45 years. From the passenger perspective, there may be a loud bang or white glow, but not to worry, the internal parts if the plane are protected."

12. What are some reasons that a flight is completely canceled rather than just delayed?

"A lot of reasons can a play a factor with this, mostly crew legality comes into play especially out of our hub cities where we don't have ready reserve flight attendants who can easily take over the flight. FAA mandates how many hours a crew can work a day in any given duty period - pilots are usually 12 hours and flight attendants are usually 16 hours. A long day's friend is fatigue and fatigue is usually where mistakes can be made. Planes have been crippled and met demise under fatigue conditions of the crew. Sometimes the delay can be so long that they cancel the flight for the day and run an extra segment the following day.

Although cancellations are becoming more and more rare, with airlines running about 90 percent completion rate of flights. The most common cancellation is weather, where planes are late or never take off to come in or they just simply can't operate a safe operation under the severe weather conditions and it makes sense to cancel the flight vs. stringing the passengers along to departure that will never happen."

13. What are some tips you have for packing light?

"My suggestion is to wear your larger coat and bulkiest shoes on the flight if possible. Also pack things that combine well together. One skirt that goes with four different shirts or a dress that can be worn for day and evening. It cuts down on the number of items you'll have to pack. Things like underwear, socks, tank tops, etc. can be shoved into boots if those are something you choose to pack instead of wear on the plane."

14. What are the essentials you HAVE to have when you fly?

"(Noise-canceling) headphones, sweater/jacket/wrap or scarf, Kiehl's in-flight spray, and empty water bottle to fill up after security checkpoint."

15. What other travel tips/tricks/secrets do you have?

"Do not depend heavily on the airline/flight attendants. Things happen, we make mistakes, and sometimes we aren't having the best day, but if you can make the flight attendants smile or laugh, you'll never go thirsty. Always anticipate delays and your own needs such as temperature - bring a sweater, dietary needs - we aren't a 7-Eleven, bring your gluten-free stuff from home, medication - keep it with you at all times, along with your wallet, keys, and passport!"

16. Any tips for beating jet lag?

"Drink a lot of water! My best advice is to get yourself onto the time of the place you're going as best you can. If I get in and it's 2 p.m. and I really want to nap, I force myself to stay awake until it's 'bedtime.' It can be really challenging, but that's why coffee exists."

17. What's the coolest place you've ever been?

"I have to say that being paid to work a flight to Maui and then getting to lay on the beach all the next day and then working the flight back is not such a rough life. As long as I have enough time, I try to get out and find some things to explore in every city. I also love Boston and NYC (places I'd never been until I got this job)."

18. What made you get into the airline business? What do those in the business love about it?

"I have wanted to be a flight attendant for a long time. I have always been drawn to the idea of traveling all over for work, the flexible scheduling, and the fact that I get to work with a variety of people. Why people stay in the airline business is due to the flexible hours and the travel benefits. And with many of the larger carriers, once you've worked with them for 15 years, you get lifetime flying benefits with that carrier."

The $10 Eyebrow Pencil I Swear by For My Thin, Light-Colored Eyebrows

If you're like me and fill in your eyebrows every day, you know how hard it is to leave the house without them drawn on. I have light-colored arches with quite a few bald spots; I just don't feel the same without having them filled in. If you can relate, you know how hard it is to find a perfect solution you love that isn't ridiculously expensive.

Needless to say, I've tested many brow products throughout the last 10 years. I often discover that powders look artificial on my skin or can easily rub off. I tried waxes that I applied with brushes as well, but they were just OK and required a lot of effort. I settled on using pencils because they are a simple one-step tool. I can easily throw one in my bag for midday touch-ups.

After using a handful of different options, I realized that this NYX Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil in Blonde ($10) is my favorite. It's more like a pen because the formula is softer and silkier than a tradition pencil. It stays on all day without coming off. One application has even survived a entire day and then an evening workout class. It features an ultrasleek applicator tip that is so thin and tiny, it reached every nook and cranny. The other side of the pencil features a soft brush that I use to comb through my hairs in order to smooth them out.

My favorite part about this pencil is the price. I go through these quickly - I keep one in my bag and one at home - and I never feel bad about rushing to store picking up another one if I need to. It's well worth it.

"I always wished I had a Desi princess to look up to while growing up, so I decided to take it into my own hands!" Hamel told POPSUGAR about her inspiration for the looks, feeling "the lack of Desi representation in the Disney community" from a young age.

She transformed into Belle, Mulan, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Snow White, Jasmine, Princess Aurora, and Ariel with bold makeup and then upped the ante with traditional Indian attire and accessories. "Trying to keep all the looks different was really difficult, so I tried different styles and used colors that matched each princess," Hamel explained. Not only does her Belle look have a rose, but she's wearing a yellow sari and a sparkling bindi. Read on to see the reimagined princesses, and prepare to be amazed.

How Beauty Editors Sleep to Ensure They Wake Up Gorgeous

Beauty editors spend all day researching the latest innovations in self-care, attending events about the newest products, and interviewing industry experts. Along the way, they learn the best tips and tricks to wake up with a glowing complexion, baby-soft skin, and gorgeous hair.

When I got initiated into the beauty writer world, the term "beauty sleep" took on a whole new meaning. I used to simply shower, put on some lotion, and hop into bed. While average-consumer-me may have occasionally applied a clay mask, editor-me assesses her skin nightly and applies the appropriate serums, masks, and lotions. Total Badass Angelina Jolie Used to Bleach and Color Her Hair With a Sharpie

Throughout her career, Angelina Jolie has been an icon of fashion and beauty, from her elegant tattoos to her signature red lip. In a recent interview with InStyle, however, we learned that her iconic beauty nature extends to more daring trends as well . . . Sharpie-dyed hair anyone? Angelina revealed that when she was younger, she used to bleach and then color her strands with a permanent marker, which is an awesome punk move.

While Angelina experimented with badass beauty trends when she was younger, she recognizes that with social media, young people today have a new set of challenges. "It's funny - I feel like decades ago, to be different was actually the thing you wanted. Now I think it seems to be more desired to be with the masses, to blend, or be as good as or be similar to," Angelina shared.

Her children "don't really do" social media, and she hopes they will have to room to figure out who they are before the world tells them. Angelina finds beauty in intelligence, empathy, thoughtfulness, and passion, and we have to agree when she says, "There's nothing more attractive than that."

Blake Lively Continues J Law's Reign of Making the Perm Cool Again

In what should come as no surprise, given the resurgence of crimping and butterfly clips, perms are back. At least they are if you ask Blake Lively, who rocked blond curls that are making us want to run out and get a perm.

At a fashion event in LA on March 13, Blake showed off a tightly coiled 'do that reminded us of Jennifer Lawrence's look at the Oscars.

Blake paired the low-fuss style with a casual makeup look. Her soft pink lipstick and very subtle rosy blush made her look as if she just came back from a day spent frolicking on the beach. We're getting updated Daryl Hannah-from-Splash vibes via Blake and J Law's looks, and that is a truly lovely thing, indeed.

Just something to consider the next time you don't feel like firing up your flatiron!

The Heartwarming Way Meghan Markle Is Following in Princess Diana's Footsteps

Prince Harry once said that if his mother, the late Princess Diana, were still alive today, she and Meghan Markle would be "thick as thieves." Well, as it turns out, he isn't the only one who thinks so. In a recent interview with E! News, British etiquette expert Grant Harrold, who was previously a butler to Harry, Prince William, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, opened up about the similarities he sees between Meghan and Diana. Grant said Meghan recently reminded him of Diana when the former actress stopped to talk to a little girl during one of her royal engagements with Harry.

He called the gesture "really, really sweet," adding that it's not "normally" something Queen Elizabeth II would do. "It's something younger people do," he explained. "She's got her own way of doing things. You look at the energy of Princess Diana, and she was very much somebody that would hug people. She was famous for it, wasn't she? None of the rest of the royal family hugged. It just wasn't the done thing. Now the younger royals, Princes William and Harry, you see them hugging, so it's their way of doing it. They are very much copying what their mother did, which is fantastic."

As for Meghan's new royal life, Grant says the former actress will have to follow protocol just like the rest of the British royal family, which means no autographs or selfies. "She has to be careful what she says, how she says it, and how it's taken, because after the 19th of May, it will be very much the reflection of the royal family," Grant said. "It's everyday things - from the way she walks, the way she speaks, the things she does, how she eats, how she holds her cup, how she dresses - everything will be looked at the right way or the wrong way. There will be a lot for her to adapt to."

Given that Meghan has already perfected the curtsy, mastered her royal wave, and developed a British accent, something tells us she's going to be just fine.

So, Royal-Wedding-Inspired Condoms Now Exist - and They'll "Make Your Prince Come"

Rather than boring you with a lengthy introduction about the beauty of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's love story, I'm just gonna cut to the chase here, people. Royal-wedding-themed condoms now exist, and I can honestly say those are words I never thought I'd type in succession during my writing career. But hey, it's 2018 and anything is possible - am I right?

Crown Jewels, a London-based prophylactic manufacturer, just started selling boxes of limited-edition Royal Souvenir Condoms to celebrate Meghan and Harry's upcoming wedding in May. The novelty rubbers are "tailored to a regal fit and drizzled with lube" to "promise discerning love-makers a royal union of pleasure and style," according to Crown Jewels's website. If that tantalizing explanation wasn't enough to hook you, they're also apparently "artisan-style" condoms, which is a descriptor I honestly only thought was used for high-end cheeses imported from Italy or something.

These commemorative condoms are packaged in a box that's honestly fancier (and more entertaining) than anything I own. The front features a photo of Meghan and Harry looking adorable as per usual along with some elaborate designs and gold text. The back offers some hilarious details about the luxurious sheaths, along with the instruction to simply "lie back and think of England." Yup, it goes there.

When the box is opened, a recording of the America's "Star Spangled Banner" and England's "God Save the Queen" is played as you stare at another photo of the royal couple. Oh, and the inside of the box also says, "Your Prince will come," in cursive writing. LOL, Crown Jewels really didn't hold back with these puns, man.

Although decidedly no one asked for these condoms to come into existence, I've gotta admit they're pretty effing hysterical and would make a great gift for that obsessive royal family follower in your life. The box costs $14 (plus a bit extra for shipping if you live in the States), which may seem expensive for just four rubbers - but remember, it does play that glorious musical mashup upon opening.

The regal rubbers - which are not officially endorsed by the royal family in any way, shape, or form - are now available for preorder on the Crown Jewels website. Ahead, catch a glimpse of the soon-to-be-viral condoms - and the completely necessary certificate of authenticity that's included in each box.

Missouri State Congressman Claims "Homosexuals" and "Human Beings" Are Different

Believe it or not, there is an American congressman who genuinely does not understand the definition of human being. Missouri state Representative Rick Brattin, revealed that he believed there is a "distinction" between human beings and people who are gay during a debate over a bill protecting the state's LGBTQ community from discrimination.

In Missouri, citizens can legally be discriminated against based on their sexual orientation. On May 8, state legislators attempted to pass an amendment banning sexual-orientation-based prejudice when Brattin expressed his concern over the proposal.

"When you look at the tenets of religion, of the Bible, of the Quran, of other religions, there is a distinction between homosexuality and just being a human being," Brattin told the House floor. According to The Kansas City Star, Brattin has yet to clarify his statement, although it aligns with his previous push for teaching creationism in public schools.

Brattin's inadequate understanding of elementary biology is not the first time he's demonstrated his supreme ignorance. He was also one of the notorious congressmen who once tried to establish a differentiation between "rape" and "legitimate rape" as it related to an antiabortion bill he proposed. The bill would have required pregnant women to receive the father's written consent before obtaining an abortion except in cases of "legitimate rape" (whatever that means).

Adding insult to injury, the Missouri state legislature passed Senate Bill 43, a law that would make it harder to sue for discrimination. It would force citizens to explicitly prove that bias lead to a dismissal rather than just contributing to it. The fate of the bill now depends on Republican Governor Eric Greitens.

Why the Russian Chemical Attack in England Is a Big Deal For America

Something important is unfolding between England and Russia - and it's not good news for anyone, particularly America.

On March 4, a former Russian double agent by the name of Sergei Skripal was found with his daughter, Yulia Skripal, slumped on a park bench in Salisbury, England. The two were victims of chemical weapon poisoning that affected 38 people in the surrounding area - and which could continue affecting people in the area for years to come, since there is no cure for the substance.

The substance responsible for Skripal, his daughter, and Salisbury residents' severe poisoning comes from a group of nerve agents called Novichok, a rare Russian chemical weapon about which little is known. The weapons are made from commercially available materials and were developed in the 1980s during the Cold War in order to evade Western detection . . . at the same time the US and Russia vowed to dismantle and destroy existing chemical weapons. Novichok chemicals were created in secret and supposedly many similar weapons now exist.

English intelligence pinned the poisoning on Russia on March 12. In response to the attack, Prime Minister Theresa May expelled 23 Russian diplomats from England on March 14. These ejections marked the most since 1985, when England similarly sent a high number of Russian diplomats out of the country during the Cold War. May noted to Parliament that Moscow reacted to the recent event with "sarcasm, contempt, and defiance" and inspired her to take action.

The matter gets complicated when considering the United States' handling of these events. After England associated the poisoning with Russia, the White House did not immediately offer a formal comment. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders did condemn the use of poison - but did not address Russia's role in the attack - on March 12.

Once England's expulsion of diplomats occurred on March 14, the White House, along with Sanders, noted its support of England's response. US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley echoed these sentiments, offering a firm rebuke of Russia. On March 15, the United States, France, and Germany formally backed England on the claims of Russian responsibility by way of a joint statement.

Most concerning in the absence of support for this condemnation is President Donald Trump, who has avoided holding Russia directly responsible or supporting the actions of May. Trump commented on March 13 that it "sounds to me like they believe it was Russia." But he pivoted to give a caveat: "As soon as we get the facts straight, if we agree with them, we will condemn Russia or whoever it may be." Since blame has been attributed to Russia, Trump still has yet to comment - and his reluctance to do so is palpable, particularly when paired with former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's firing hours after he criticized Russia for the chemical attack.

While the complicated matter may seem foreign and abstract, the issue highlights ongoing, obvious issues between America and Russia, making Trump's failure to react all the more concerning. The Salisbury event is quickly unfolding in various directions - Russia denied involvement, called May's actions "insane," and is seeking a swift response to the expulsion while the United States is now imposing sanctions on Russian groups in reaction to election attacks - and is adding to an international rising tension that is impossible to ignore.

Trump's Pick For CIA Director Would Be the First Woman to Have the Job - but There's 1 Big Problem

Amid this week's mass hirings and firings at the White House, one huge development has risen to the top of the pile: Donald Trump has selected Gina Haspel as the new director of the CIA. Haspel has served as deputy director of the agency under Mike Pompeo, who has now been promoted to secretary of state following Trump's dismissal of Rex Tillerson.

This is a big deal for two reasons, and the first is that Haspel could be the first woman to run the CIA. Haspel has been involved with the CIA since 1985, and while she has spent most of her career working undercover, her appointment to deputy was received quite positively, earning praise by both Bush- and Obama-era leadership who worked with her. The appointment of Haspel would also mean more women at cabinet-level positions for the Trump administration, though it'd still have a long way to go in reaching the gender equality of previous administrations.

The second reason this is a big deal - and the one that should give us all pause - is that Haspel has an incredibly brutal track record when it comes to torture.

Haspel oversaw the torturing of dozens of people by way of tactics from waterboarding to sleep deprivation, to literally putting living people in coffins at the black site prison she oversaw. Tactics under Haspel had been recorded, and documents were generated verifying these deeply disturbing practices - but Haspel controversially had said recordings destroyed under orders from her boss at the time. Her promotions and appointments have been protested at very high levels over the years, from Sen. Dianne Feinstein to Sen. John McCain to Sen. Tammy Duckworth, because of her associations with torture and destroying of evidence.

At this point the only obstacle between Haspel and the CIA directorship is a confirmation hearing, where her work at the CIA will be questioned by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. While it still remains to be determined if Haspel will be formally opposed, some senators do support her: Sen. Richard Burr, a Republican on the intelligence committee, has praised her nomination. Other intelligence committee senators like Sen. Ron Wyden are seeking to declassify information regarding said torture programs, so lawmakers can properly assess her prior work and make their own decisions.

Ultimately, the only way for Haspel to succeed in her hearing - one in which she'll likely be grilled on the matter of enabling these deadly practices and destroying evidence - is to denounce the torture practices she participated in, reconciling her past by confronting it. But it's important to note that regardless of where Haspel publicly lands on her stance, the practices she enabled could be furthered by the current POTUS. Trump noted while campaigning that he supports torture, saying, "I would bring back waterboarding," in a 2016 debate, and compounding that statement by saying "I would bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding." He also raised the matter early in his presidency and ordered that the controversial Guantanamo Bay prison remain open.

While Haspel, Trump, and talk of torture might seem like a shock, it should be noted that the subject isn't new: former President Barack Obama's overlooking of torture and use of drone strikes are largely overlooked but have been extensively documented, standing as a blemish on his legacy. If anything, Haspel is reigniting a sore spot in American history: the tendency for torture over compassion. And though conversations about controversial practices will be reignited by Haspel's hearings, no consensus has ever been reached among policymakers as to how we proceed going forward - and how this plays out in Congress is anyone's guess at this stage.
