Beyoncé Just Twinned With Blue Ivy in Showstopping Gold Gowns

Beyoncé saved her sexiest dress for the second annual Wearable Art Gala. The Lemonade singer showed up for the gala, which was organized by Bey's mom, Tina Knowles, wearing a gold dress that fit perfectly with the evening's theme of WACO to Wakanda. (That's the name of the organization behind the gala plus the fictional world in which Black Panther takes place.)

According to WWD, Beyoncé chose a custom gown by Indian design house Falguni Shane Peacock that took more than 10 days to create. "We wanted to create an art statement, taking inspiration from the Nubian warrior queen [Amanishakheto]. We felt it was the perfect inspiration when designing for such a strong woman like Beyoncé," designers Falguni and Shane Peacock said. Her stunning dress featured metallic cutouts and a long gold train.

Bey's daughter, Blue Ivy, also made an appearance and totally upstaged her mother wearing a matching gold dress and wig. During the evening, Beyoncé switched into a second gold dress while taking the stage to receive the 2018 WACO Theater Humanitarian Award. Read on to get a glimpse of Bey's amazing dresses.

I'm Indian - Why Don't I Ever See Anyone Who Looks Like Me in Fashion?

Fashion has always been a part of my DNA. As a child, I would spend hours dressing up in my mother's clothes, ripping out pages of magazines for things that inspired me, and drawing outfits from my favorite movies. Flash forward to today, fashion is still a huge part of my life, and I've even managed to make a career out of it. But whether I look at bloggers on Instagram or billboards on the street, one important question has always stood out to me: I'm Indian; why don't I ever see anyone who looks like me in fashion?

Growing up, I moved over 12 times, hopping around from cities like Mumbai, New York, and Dubai. Living in these cultural meccas, I often found myself wondering why the media didn't represent the stylish Indian people I saw walking on the streets every day. When I would see an Indian person being represented on TV, I'd quickly realize that they were based on stereotypes rather than the kinds of real people I knew. I'm looking at you, Raj from The Big Bang Theory and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon from The Simpsons. (C'mon, Apu's last name is something right out of a racist joke book, don't you think?) Even as I entered my first Fashion Week, it was jarring how I could barely count the number of Indian models I saw on one hand.

Where Are We Now?

When Priyanka Chopra broke onto the scene with ABC's hit show Quantico in 2015, everyone couldn't stop buzzing about how amazing her style was. I, for one, couldn't help cheering from the sidelines, "FINALLY!" But the thing is, Priyanka's amazing style was something I already knew about and, over the years, I had kind of just given up hope that people outside of my community would take notice. It was powerful to see Priyanka make it big because it felt like Indian people were finally a part of the equation and getting some much-needed recognition. I was lucky enough to meet the actress during an event and we instantly bonded over the fact that we both love fashion and we are both Mumbaikars (which is a playful way of saying we both lived in Mumbai). I told Priyanka that it made me proud to see an Indian person making it big in Hollywood and she said that it made her happy because she too was proud to be Indian.

While it's great that Priyanka is getting the recognition she deserves, it's been three years since she broke onto the scene, and she is just one person from a country with a population over 1.3 billion. There are so many other fashionable Indian women out there like Sonam Kapoor, who has over 11 million followers on Instagram. (For scale, that's about the amount of people who live in Belgium or, to make it relatable to fashionistas, the same number of people who follow street style star Chiara Ferragni.) There's also Aishwarya Rai, who has received many accolades for her Cinderella-esque gown at Cannes Film Festival, and Bollywood actress Deepika Pudukone, just to name a few. (If you need any proof of how stylish these women are, just scroll through their Instagrams and you'll see what I'm talking about.) We should be giving more women like them a platform, because everyone's obsession with Priyanka has proved that the world is ready for it.

While it's great that Priyanka is getting the recognition she deserves, it's been three years since she broke onto the scene, and she is just one person from a country with a population over 1.3 billion.

One big missed opportunity was Vogue India's 10-year anniversary issue. Instead of choosing an Indian model or one of the many stylish Bollywood actresses, the magazine decided to "outsource" their talent (yes, I went there) by choosing American supermodel Kendall Jenner to be the cover girl. From a business perspective, I understand that it's a huge deal to land a covetable model like Kendall, but this could've been a huge moment for Indians to showcase some of the amazing, diverse talent we have in our country. It would've been inspiring to see someone Indian on the cover, showing the world that we're proud of our heritage.

Another thing that got everyone buzzing was a Business of Fashion article written by an Indian editor. I opened up Instagram one morning to see that a ton of my friends had posted a specific quote from the article that made them feel extremely marginalized, and it was easy to see why. "They [Indians] may not be the tallest or the conventionally prettiest of models," read the quote. I had many conversations that morning with others who were completely stunned by the fact that a fellow Indian could say something like that. If we perceive ourselves in this light, what stops others from doing the same? Being someone who's been called both "too Indian" and "too Americanized" my entire life, the article made me furious because that statement is so far from the truth. While the editor did apologize stating she meant "Indian models weren't perceived as 'the prettiest' by the Western-centric standards that dominate the fashion market," it still made me sad to think that these so-called beauty standards are so deeply ingrained in our society. Shouldn't every ethnicity be celebrated and considered beautiful? We shouldn't be ripping each other down; we should be embracing each and every individual for who they are, and all of the unique traits they bring to the table.

Beauty companies like Rihanna's Fenty Beauty and Huda Kattan's beauty line are breaking the mold by making it a point to include a diverse range of models in their campaigns and, more importantly, releasing multiple shades of their products. Their lines were instant successes, and people of all different ethnicities couldn't stop expressing their excitement over feeling included for once. The fashion industry should take a cue from these companies and the public's overwhelming cry for more diversity. Honestly it baffles me why designers don't even see this as an opportunity to make more sales. They're all missing out on a huge segment of the population, one that could potentially mean millions of dollars in revenue. What company wouldn't want that?

Where Do We Go From Here?

One Indian woman in the fashion industry that I admire greatly is Roopal Patel, who is the SVP fashion director at Saks Fifth Avenue. Looking at her career, it makes me proud to see another Indian woman succeeding in the industry, particularly one who is regarded so highly by her peers and designers. I admire Roopal not only because she has a lot of knowledge about the fashion industry, but also because she's managed to forge her own path as one of the only Indian woman directors of a multimillion-dollar retail company. Having even one person with a high-profile fashion job like Roopal's can help inspire a movement in the industry. I know she has already inspired me in my own career.

Even though I am just one person, I've made it my mission to do everything I can to make the situation better. Working at a place like POPSUGAR, I feel like I can voice these issues and unearth Indian brands and designers that mean something to my culture. I've been making a conscious effort to include people of all different backgrounds in my stories in the hopes of making everyone feel more included when they read an article of mine. During my first week at POPSUGAR, I was showing my team pictures from my sister's wedding and everyone was asking questions about what each outfit meant and what exactly one wears to an Indian wedding. I decided to write a couple of posts about it and, just like that, I was already writing about topics that mattered to me.

It's inspiring to see how Ashley Graham and Tess Holliday have managed to start an entire movement about the lack of curve models in the industry. Maybe we can learn from these empowering women and try to get the conversation started in the same way.

This past year has sort of been an awakening for women. There seems to be a growing platform for women of all races to speak out when they feel like they're being marginalized and underappreciated in today's society. While these strides are long overdue, we definitely still have a ways to go. Much like the body-positivity movement, it's time to call for the fashion industry to be more diverse so every young woman can feel like they are being represented in some way. It's inspiring to see how Ashley Graham and Tess Holliday have managed to start an entire movement about the lack of curve models in the industry. Maybe we can learn from these empowering women and try to get the conversation started in the same way. Whether it's by using social media like the #effyourbeautystandards hashtag and calling for Indian bloggers to band together, or simply by sharing this story to spark conversations, we can at least attempt to make a difference.

In the future, I hope to look at the runways of my favorite designers and see Indian models being included, but I wouldn't want it to end there. I would love for all ethnicities to be represented. Call it wishful thinking, but I think it can be accomplished in time. It's the best feeling in the world to see designers like Naeem Khan and Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia pave the way for other Indian designers out there. It gives me hope. After all, fashion is all about dreams. It takes a dream to start a company, it takes a dream to create a collection, and it takes a dream to make even the slightest difference in the world. Maybe one day, this simple dream will become a reality and we can finally look up at a billboard or open up a magazine, and see someone who we relate to looking back at us.

Swimsuit shopping is a unique battle for anyone, especially if you're self-conscious about being smaller up top. Arm yourself with tricks and you'll be able to stroll seaside with confidence.

  • Distract, distract, distract. Ruffles, bold prints, and splashes of color are all far busier than a simple, solid suit and can claim an onlooker's attention.
  • Embrace what you can wear. Tiny tops and unique shapes are cute but often spell disaster for women with larger chests. Trendy styles are easy to conquer when support isn't mandatory, so go ahead and play around with fun cuts.

Meet the Stylish Baker Behind Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Wedding Cake

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding is all fans can talk about, and we don't blame them. We've all been anxiously waiting to see what Meghan's wedding dress will look like. Will it be similar to her first wedding dress or look like Kate Middleton's?

And, we just received another juicy piece of information about the upcoming royal nuptials. The couple announced that London-based baker Claire Ptak of Violet Bakery will be making their wedding cake. The couple is continuing to break traditions by choosing a cake that will be decorated with buttercream and seasonal flowers rather than a more traditional fruit cake.

As it turns out, Meghan actually interviewed Claire for her former blog The Tig. From the looks of Claire's Instagram, we learned that the baker's style rivals that of Meghan's. Not only is Claire an excellent baker, but she also happens to be a brand ambassador for British handbag brand Ally Capellino. Read on to get a glimpse of Claire's amazing style ahead.

I've Spent a Year Searching For My Forever Mascara - Here's Everything I Learned

Up until a year ago, I had been wearing the same drugstore mascara that I discovered in high school. I purchased tube after tube for over a decade, trusting the formula to make my stick-straight Asian eyelashes look long, thick, and, most importantly, dramatically curled. Accompanied by a good dose of eyeliner along my top and bottom lash line, the mascara looked fantastic. I had no complaints.

But when I hit my mid-20s, my approach to makeup shifted - I grew more comfortable and confident in my own skin and started to appreciate a less-is-more beauty look. As someone who previously balked at the thought of leaving the house without wearing a full face of makeup, I found myself going out more and more frequently with just my lashes and eyebrows done. And I soon discovered that without the buffer of eyeliner, my previously trusty mascara would end up tragically transferred onto my lower lash line (where I would normally apply eyeliner) by the end of the day.

Disappointed, I set out to find a new everyday mascara - one that would still hold an aggressive curl, minus the raccoon eyes. Little did I know, it was a process, and one I wasn't exactly prepared for. One year and 10 tubes of mascara later, I still haven't discovered a worthy replacement, but I have discovered some eye-opening (literally) things along the way.

If you're on the hunt for your own forever mascara, learn from my mistakes and read on for seven tips I picked up that'll help make your search easier than mine.

1. Take product reviews, testimonials, and suggestions from others with a grain of salt

Nothing will derail a meeting faster than telling a conference room full of beauty editors that you're looking for a new mascara. As soon as I casually mentioned it to my colleagues here at POPSUGAR, the suggestions came pouring in. And with plenty of impressive before-and-after photos to go off of, I had a running start.

But after trying the third tube that came highly recommended, I realized that what was working for my fellow mascara-lovers was definitely not working for me and I couldn't rely solely on word-of-mouth, popularity, or photos, no matter how jaw-dropping. Now, I do my own extensive research on a potential brand and product and remind myself to give every product a fair chance, whether or not it's been highly touted by others.

2. Don't write off a mascara after the first try

Whether it's the way you wield the wand, the passing of time, or even the formula's exposure to air, your second experience with a mascara can differ drastically from the first. When I first applied a popular mascara, I found that the formula weighed down my lashes and deflated the curl. A few weeks later, I decided to give the same mascara another try and was pleasantly surprised to see that somehow the formula held a curl much better the second time around. With every new tube, I now make a point to apply the product on at least three different occasions before formulating a definitive opinion on it.

3. Standard and waterproof formulas are different, even for the same mascara

The name and packaging may be the same (save for a small "waterproof" label), but that doesn't mean the formulas are. After interrogating my sister on how her lashes always look so amazing, she suggested I use her go-to mascara. After trying a tube for myself, I was disappointed to discover that what delivered long and thick lashes with an impressive curl on her fell completely flat on me.

The one small, but significant, detail? She uses the waterproof version. Sure enough, after swapping my standard formula for the waterproof one, my lashes held a curl for longer. If you think about it, standard mascara formulas need to be chemically altered to withstand water, so there's a high chance they're developed differently - which means they'll most likely interact with your lashes differently as a result.

4. Ensure everything else in your makeup routine stays consistent

Don't follow my lead and start experimenting with a new liquid liner at the same time that you're experimenting with a new mascara. Since your lashes can be affected by everything from the eyelash curler you use to the order in which you apply your products, you'll want to keep the makeup you're wearing around your eyes the same in order to quickly determine whether the mascara is right for you.

5. A coat is not created equal across mascaras

With my previous drugstore go-to, I was used to swiping on coat after coat after coat in rapid succession to achieve the mega volume I liked. Once I started wielding different wands, it quickly became clear that I needed to change up my application technique depending on the mascara. Sometimes all I needed was one lighthanded coat, while other times, the mascara called for three coats (along with drying time between each) to achieve the same effect.

6. Don't assume mascara will look the same once it dries

You'd think that the eyelashes you see in the mirror directly after applying mascara would be the same eyelashes you see an hour later, right? Not necessarily. After applying a new mascara for the first time, I was happy with the results. But a mere few moments later, I glanced in the mirror and was disappointed to discover my curl had completely deflated as the formula had dried.

7. It takes a lot of time, money, and patience

Patience is really the key word for me here. I'm not one to let beauty products go to waste, so over the course of the year, I found myself trying to finish a tube of mascara before moving on to the next one, even if I didn't love it (or even like it). But that just means that once I finally discover The One, I know I'll appreciate it that much more. After all, confidence-boosting lashes are worth it!

I Have Worn the Same $3 Liquid Eyeliner For 10 Years, and It Gets Me So Many Compliments

I'm a girl who likes to wear a sharp, inky-black cat eye on the regular. There's something about it that makes me feel both powerful and glamorous, so I have made it my go-to look since my teenage years. Time after time, friends, coworkers, and strangers have asked me the same question: "What eyeliner do you use?" There's nothing that brings me more joy than smugly telling them it's a $3 pick from the drugstore. Yes, I have been religiously swiping Wet n Wild MegaLiner Liquid Eyeliner on my lids for 10 years now, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Before you become skeptical, know that I have tried my fair share of liquid liners. I am always curious to see if any high-end or drugstore brands can match the quality of my Wet n Wild pick, but they never do. MegaLiner Liquid Eyeliner comes in a small tube with a screw-top handle. The applicator, a flexible spongy brush, is easy to maneuver as I glide it across my skin. The harder you press, the thicker the line becomes, so you have a lot of control over the intensity of your look. The formula itself is smooth and matte. Its raven-black shade makes my blue eyes pop. All it takes is one coat to get a pleasing obsidian-dark effect.

For me, pen-tip applicators and pots with angle brushes don't give me the razor-sharp line I'm looking for. Only MegaLiner provides me with that smooth edge - I won't accept anything less. What can I say, a good cat eye has become a passion. It's time to set down your pricey choice and give my favorite a try. I can confidently promise you that it won't disappoint.

Let's be real, a $3 purchase is not a big risk to take. Even better - it's currently on sale for $2. I keep one in every purse I own. Read on to see close-ups of the liner itself and how it looks once it's applied.

This Cleanser Power-Washes My Makeup Off - Without Sucking the Dear Life Out of My Skin

As a longtime editor and a woman whose beauty aesthetic was largely shaped by the glam-rock '80s cartoon Jem and the Holograms, I am predestined to both hoard skincare products and indulge in makeup. I'm also obsessive about ensuring that every trace of gunk and pigment is banished from my face before I go to bed, no matter how much Chardonnay I've had to drink. Because of this, face washes - much like live-action remakes of my favorite childhood TV shows - consistently let me down. So you can imagine my surprise when Dr. Roebuck's Natural Nourishing Crème Cleanser ($22) did not.

I met Kim Devin, who runs Dr. Roebuck's with her sister, Zoe Kelly, at a press event at LA's Le Jolie Spa this week. Kim has the kind of elusive, gleaming skin and effortless hair endemic to many Australian women, and I instantly wanted to use whatever products she was using and become her closest confidante. Kim told me the brand was originally created by their father, Dr. Roebuck himself, who was all-natural obsessed well before it was considered hip or even mainstream. (I grew up eating dense multigrain bread mandated by my Jazzercising mom while lusting after my friends' Wonderbread sandwiches, so I can relate.) While Dr. Roebuck's isn't yet a household name in the United States, that likely won't last for long. Last year, the brand won a major award for innovation in beauty, and it's now easy to find at major retailers like Sephora.

After I took an iPad quiz that asked me about my sleeping, drinking, and exercise habits and general stress levels, Kim whipped up a custom serum for me and sent me off with samples of their delightful Bondi Hydrating Mist, Polish 2-in-1 Mask and Scrub, Ultimate Hydrating Serum, and the cleanser. I'll be blunt: rarely do I get excited about face washes. I view them as a utilitarian product I simply must get out of the way . . . before slathering on my witch's brew of serums and oils and creams and other concoctions I'm convinced will actually, like, change my skin. But, naturally, the Natural Nourishing Crème Cleanser was the first Dr. Roebuck's product I tried that night, and WHOA.

Here's the thing: without fail, I end up with a grimy unibrow of foundation and eye makeup residue in that spot between my eyes and forehead when I wash my face at night. I am forced to then blast away at the stubborn patch with eye makeup remover, or the paint thinner-strong astringent in my boyfriend's medicine cabinet, neither of which is great for my skin. But one wash with the luxuriously thick, gently foaming Crème Cleanser, and my Bermuda Triangle of filth had vanished. I patted my face dry. I would use the phrase "squeaky clean" to describe how it felt, but that conjures images of overly taught skin screaming to be quenched. Instead, I felt like I'd followed up a deep-cleaning clay treatment with a luxe, moisturizing sheet mask. And all I'd done was lazily wash my face with my fingertips for 20 seconds!

I'm no chemist, but I think the fact that the potent cleansers here are balanced with jojoba and macadamia nut oil, shea butter, and anti-inflammatories like oat leaf make this face wash so effective, without leaving my skin feeling like it's the Monday morning after Coachella. (While some Sephora reviewers claim the wash has a slightly unpleasant scent, this truly mystifies me. I simply find it to smell faintly like tea tree oil.) And, true to Dr. Roebuck's crunchy roots, it's also vegan and cruelty-free; devoid of parabens, sulfates, and phthlates; and packaged in 100 percent recyclable materials, which makes me feel just as pure and virtuous as my face after I wash it with the stuff.

I Finally Found a Primer That Works on My Problematic Skin - and It's Not Even a Primer

I own one eye shadow and about 10 moisturizers. Needless to say, I wouldn't describe myself as a "makeup kind of girl." I'm much more into my skincare routine. Due to the fact that I have both oily and dry, hormonal acne-prone skin (lucky me!), I've spent many years perfecting my beauty routine; I stay away from makeup I'm scared will clog my pores, making me an antiprimer person. I used to think, "Why add another layer?" I realized I was doing it all wrong when I tried this Capture Totale DreamSkin Advanced Perfect Skin Creator ($115).

Before you let the price tag scare you away, let me start by saying this product has hands down changed my skin, and it lasts forever. So how did I discover it? One of my friends who has similar skin issues showed up to an event looking flawless, and I immediately asked what was different. She told me about this miracle formula, and the next day I headed to the department store.

The saleswoman informed me that DreamSkin has always been a popular product from the brand and that it was just reinvented to also help with antiaging. It's a light-pink texture that has a very faint smell of flowers. It's meant to help even out skin tone, cover spots, reduce redness, and minimize the appearance of large pores. I was sold.

The cream does everything it promises, but - more importantly - the consistency is just right for my combination skin. It keeps my dry patches moisturized throughout the day without flaking, and my skin doesn't feel slick or oily. After weeks of use, it didn't cause me to have any breakouts. My skin overall looked more glowing, and my foundation stayed on longer and better.

This product was a total splurge for me, but now I can't imagine living without it!

I Tried an Armpit Moisturizer, and It's the Only Thing That Can Stop My Pesky Ingrowns

Some people like to show off pictures of their kids or dogs; I feel the same way about whipping out my armpits. Whether I've just rubbed detox mask under my arms or tried a new deodorant pen, I am known to talk about my pits with the enthusiasm of a roving Bible salesman. Due to my efforts in reforming my musky ways, I've managed to quell a lifelong sweating problem. The final frontier in my armpit transformation? Two words, which I hate only slightly less than my most loathsome phrase ("You up?"): ingrown hairs.

After one glorious Winter where I had zero reason to wear anything other than four sweaters at one time, Spring came. Slowly but surely, my layers are coming off - and with those, I prefer to remove the hair under my pits, too. (But if you don't, rock on!) But my skin must have gone to Oberlin and counted Sylvia Plath among its favorite authors, because it is sensitive, y'all. As soon as I bust out the razor, the ingrowns are bound to follow.

So when I had the chance to test out an "armpit moisturizer," I - and the dozens of little bumps that graced my underarms - jumped on it. This opportunity came courtesy of the new Crystal Invisible Solid Deodorant Sticks ($8), which just launched. In addition to acting as a natural essential-oil-infused deodorant that absorbs wetness, it boasts a lotion-esque consistency that hydrates and treats skin.

As soon as I swiped the deo against my body, I knew it was going to be a kickass (er, kick-pit) moisturizer. It felt so luxe that I almost felt like rubbing it all over my dehydrated face, too. It was super creamy, so I was a little nervous about it leaving white streaks. In response to my concerns, I put on an all-black ensemble, because my life's motto is, "If you're going to do something, you might as well do it in a way that will give you deodorant stains."

Luckily, no such thing happened. I tried the Lavender and White Tea option, which is just one in a lineup that includes Vanilla Jasmine with Chamomile and Unscented. I got a whiff of all the scents, and truth be told, each one sort of just smells generically "clean" - think fresh laundry - so even if you're sensitive, I don't think you'll have a problem with these puppies.

After wearing this for just a day, I was satisfied with how it stopped me from being a sweaty mess. It took about a week and a half for me to notice my ingrowns subside. My skin feels smoother and sleeker, and I would have no problem with someone gently rubbing their hand over my pits, should I encounter anyone who is into that sort of thing. Your move, strapless dresses.

I Finally Found the 1 Acne Spot Treatment That Works on My Problematic Skin

I've suffered from hormonal cystic acne since I hit puberty, and those huge, painful, and embarrassing blemishes have never stopped stressing me out. Finally, after 15 years and the help of a dermatologist, I have clear skin. But that doesn't mean I don't suffer from a breakout every now and then. I often feel those pesky, painful pimples under my skin before they're even noticeable, and I want to fight them before they get bigger. From the classic myth of using toothpaste as a spot treatment to rubbing a piece of aspirin on my skin (I know, but I was desperate at the time), these kooky hacks never did it for me. Then, a little over a year ago, I found a spot treatment product that finally does what it promises to: Mario Badescu Drying Lotion ($17).

I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but I discovered this amazing product by watching Kylie Jenner's Snapchat. (This was before the launch of her own cosmetic line, when she used to show more of her own skincare routine.) Little did I know that the small pink bottle was a total cult classic. I went and bought it immediately. That night before bed, I followed the instructions and used a cotton swab to dab the pink lotion on every little bump I could find. I woke up the next day and there was no trace of the lotion or of a blemish. At last, a product that I saw results with. I've been addicted ever since.

If you're wondering what makes this treatment so special, it's the pink substance itself: the calamine lotion. (Yes, that's the same lotion that you may have used if you've ever suffered from poison ivy or insect bites as a kid.) This soothing lotion is mixed with acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid and sulfur, which work together to dry out clogged pores, kill bacteria, and diminish your spots. If you've been searching for the right spot treatment for you, this one is definitely worth a try.

The 1 Foundation That Covered My Hives After an Allergic Reaction

A few weeks ago, I had an allergic reaction to a medication and woke up covered in hives from head to toe. I was completely freaked out that my usually clear skin had been taken over by large, red, splotchy bumps. I cried on the phone to my mom, sulked, and hid from the world.

When I realized I could no longer be a hermit (I'm a busy woman!), I panicked. I didn't want anyone, even my roommate, to see me like this. Eventually, I knew I had to stop being dramatic and accept my fate: I had to go out into public. In an effort to look less like a leper, I turned to Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation ($40), which promised to cover hyperpigmentation and redness, and prayed that it would cover my rash.

I grabbed my trusted Beautyblender ($20) and started dotting the liquid on my face, trying not to cry. To my surprise, it completely covered the hundreds of hives that had conquered my complexion. Although I still had a skin texture I can only describe as lumpy, I felt so much better. I thanked the makeup gods (and Huda Kattan) that this had worked, put on a hoodie, and went out in public for the first time in days.

Since then, my hives have thankfully gone away and I am no longer sick. However, my devotion to Huda's foundation is still going strong. The formula is silky-smooth, packed with pigment, and doesn't fade throughout the day. If it can cover hives, it can definitely handle my ordinary breakouts. I recently wore it for a photo shoot, and my skin looks incredible in the photos.

While I hope I never have hives again, at least I now know what product I can turn to in a skin emergency.

Royally Obsessed: Kate Middleton's Go-To Lipsticks

Look at any photograph of Kate Middleton and - we can say with utmost confidence - you'll see her sporting a sheer, natural-leaning lipstick. The truth is that bright reds, hot pinks, and daring purples or blues are not the go-to for this Duchess. Instead, she opts for neutral pinks, creamy nudes, and, if she's feeling bold, a deeper, more prominent mauve.

We're showcasing three of her go-to lip shades here and also giving you product suggestions that'll help you re-create her lip looks - including info on one lipstick we know she wears, for sure.

15 Quotes That'll Inspire You to Go Makeup Free

The beauty community has certainly made a place for itself on Instagram. Over the years, it's increasingly evolved into a digital wonderland of fierce makeup lewks, product haul videos, shelfies, and tutorials. It's also a space where makeup lovers can convene to sound off, share their thoughts about new launches, or even inspire the rest of the community. Sometimes that means talking about your acne, lamenting about your psoriasis, sharing makeup fails, or baring your naked face to the world in a defiant burst of confidence. And sometimes inspiring others is as simple as dropping a thought-provoking, humorous, or #girlpower-inciting quote about going makeup free.

The Royal Train Is Basically a Mobile Buckingham Palace

It's a miniature Buckingham Palace in motion, a sleek and streamlined royal residence of the railroads, and the queen's favorite way to travel: the royal train. It's a centuries-old institution which is still shuttling senior members of the royal family around today.

Queen Victoria was the first monarch to use it, although a lot of her frills and fancies have made way for a more functional and contemporary mode of transport - although still with some romantically retro touches. Peek inside the royal train ahead.

A Rarely Seen Look at How Princess Diana Decorated Her Private Palace Quarters

Diana was famous for her fashion choices, but her taste in home decor is a little less well-known. When she first moved into Apartments 8 and 9 at Kensington Palace as a new bride, she was just 20 years old and she had three floors of rooms to decorate in the style of her choosing. However, the revamp had to suit the 17th century building as well as blend with the priceless antiques and oil paintings already displayed in the rooms. Diana turned to her mother for help, and she recommended her interior designer, Dudley Poplak, who worked with Diana to create a suite of rooms that combined traditional royal gravitas with Diana's fresh, fun, and feminine style. Take an up close look ahead.

14 Grocery Staples I Always Have as a 20-Something on a Budget

As a 25-year-old who has just started out in the professional world, I know how hard it can be to get your life together. You're supposed to find a job, live on your own, cook for yourself, and find the time to exercise, which, unfortunately, I don't think includes walking to the kitchen for snack breaks in between TV episodes. When you have so much going on - especially when you're on a budget - one thing that some people dread is grocery shopping. I personally love it, but it took a little practice to figure out a routine and a grocery list that worked for me. As someone who loves to cook, there are certain things I like to have on hand all the time. These are 14 budget-approved staples I always have stocked in my kitchen.

The Only Thing More Beautiful Than Queer Eye Chef Antoni Is the Food He Cooks

Binge-watching the first season of Netflix's Queer Eye reboot was an exceptionally salty experience for me. First, because of all the tears I shed during every. damn. episode. Second, because watching absurdly handsome Fab Five chef Antoni Porowski prepare food with each of the show's makeover recipients always makes me hungry enough to head to the kitchen for a savory snack! So imagine my outrage when people dared to imply that Antoni, my beloved patron saint of avocados and Strokes t-shirts, can't cook. (Cue record scratch noise here.)

Yes, you read that right. People really tried it.

Apparently, because Antoni guides cooking-averse men through simple recipes on Queer Eye, some viewers interpreted that to mean he can't actually cook. Never mind that some of the guys featured on Queer Eye consider Mountain Dew mixed with tequila to be fine dining. Instead, the haters who question Antoni's skills in the kitchen feel that "a real chef" would have taught these men how to make bone marrow foam and grilled cauliflower steaks instead of basic staples (like guacamole or grilled cheese) that they'll actually cook regularly. Sounds logical.

But Antoni isn't one to let the haters sway him. Instead, the foodie of the Fab Five simply lets his cooking speak for itself, courtesy of beautifully styled Instagram photos taken by his proud partner, Joey Krietemeyer. From pan-seared salmon to gourmet beef bourguignon, Antoni's Instagram is filled with photos of the only thing more beautiful than his face: the food he lovingly prepares.

So look out, haters; these glorious meals are your proof (once and for all!) that Antoni can cook.

This Star Wars Art Will Make You Wonder Why Disney Princesses Don't Carry Lightsabers

You're not over seeing amazing Disney/Star Wars mashup art yet, right? Good, because we found some new ones that have us senselessly fangirling all over again.

Illustrator Phill Berry recently shared his take on the Disney princesses as Star Wars characters, wherein they're rugged, lightsaber-wielding Jedi badasses.

Featuring Ariel, Jasmine, Rapunzel, and Belle - for now - the illustrations also include the princesses' respective sidekicks! For example, Ariel is shown with a hovering drone that is meant to resemble Flounder, and Belle is accompanied by her beau, the Beast - who in the Star Wars universe is most likely a Wookiee.

See the incredible illustrations that are kind of making us wish they cast Jasmine in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg in 2009: "We're Not Going to Share People's Information"

As questions about Facebook's commitment to individual privacy continue to swirl in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal and the #DeleteFacebook movement continues to become a reality, it's pretty safe to say that thousands - if not millions - are currently judging their stance on the platform's viability going forward. But amid an overabundance of thinkpieces and exclusive interviews about the matter, on March 21 the BBC quietly rereleased a 2009 interview with Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg, and it may help provide a little clarity on how horribly wrong the whole thing has gone. There's one exchange in particular (starting at around the one minute and 14 second mark) that takes place between Zuckerberg and journalist Laura Trevelyan, though, that will leave your jaw on the floor:

TREVELYAN: You say there's a contradiction between people wanting to share information online, and wanting to control it. Why?
ZUCKERBERG: Well, I mean, I think everyone wants to be able to see all the information that's out there, and at the same time everyone wants to make sure that they're only sharing their information with the people they want to see it. So it's important that we design a system where people can do both.
TREVELYAN: So just to be clear, you're not going to sell - or share - any of the information on Facebook?
ZUCKERBERG: What the terms say is just - we're not going to share people's information except for with the people that they've asked for it to be shared. Everyone gets privacy settings, which has always been one of the big differentiators for Facebook, and what makes it a really different service for people. You can say, "I want this photo album to go to these people" or "I want this note to go to these people," and the privacy controls on Facebook are really unparalleled by anything else.
TREVELYAN: But how are you going to make money if you won't sell or share people's information?
ZUCKERBERG: The model is advertising. People's information is their own, but there are a lot of different companies and entities that want to buy advertising to take the information that they have - whatever their message is - and reach more people with it.

While Zuckerberg is responding to a nearly decade-old issue in the interview, it's hard not to see the connection between his reaction and the ongoing accusations around Facebook's involvement in the 2016 election. To that end, it raises very serious questions of when Facebook became aware of the potential for abuse within their data-based advertising system, and why they chose to apologize after the fact instead of seeking a solution in the last 10 years.

Well, Damn! Michelle Obama's Portrait Is So Popular, It's Moving to a Better Spot

It's only been a month since Michelle Obama's official portrait was installed at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery, but the portrait is already being moved due to high demand. Painted by Amy Sherald, the portrait was originally hung in a fairly inconspicuous hallway - and despite its location, people were still lining up to catch a glimpse.

On March 21, the gallery shared a picture of the portrait's new and "more spacious" location on the third floor "due to the high volume of visitors." Adding, "We're always changing things up here."

The former first lady's portrait received additional buzz after a photo of a little girl gazing up at it went viral. Eventually, Obama heard about 2-year-old Parker Curry's awestruck reaction and set up a meeting with her in person. On Instagram, Obama shared pictures from the sweet meeting and wrote, "Maybe one day I'll proudly look up at a portrait of you!"

But social media is a brave new world, and it can lead to serious confusion for many of the elderly users who are bold enough to create accounts. These 30 screenshots from Reddit's OldPeopleFacebook subreddit prove that seniors are the funniest part of Facebook, and they don't give a damn. Get it, Grandmaster Flash - I mean, Grandma.

In the Battle of Biden vs. Trump, Everybody Loses

What happens when septuagenarian politicians threaten each other with physical violence? Nobody wins.

This is the basic understanding of the verbal row between former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, two feisty men best known for their fiery ways with words. The battle features everything we could ever want: petty threats, Twitter bashing, third parties, and the reminder that American politics have devolved into the parking lot behind the cafeteria where lots of very old, very angry teens spar.

In one corner: Biden with the offensive. The former vice president gave a speech to students at the University of Miami on March 21 in which Trump was the punching bag: regarding Trump's 2016 "locker room talk" bombshell, Biden explained that men who talk like that are "usually the fattest, ugliest SOBs in the room" and noted that he refused to debate Trump, offering the primal response of, "If we were in high school, I'd take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him."

In the other corner: Trump with the defensive. In keeping with 45's modus operandi, the president tweeted his reaction to Biden's words on the morning of March 22, employing 274 characters to fight back. "Crazy Joe Biden," Trump began. "He is weak, both mentally and physically . . . He would go down fast and hard, crying all the way. Don't threaten people Joe!" Trump then switched things up, throwing a Twitter punch at Hillary Clinton around the differences in their campaign strategies and uses of digital media.

For context: this is not the first brawl between these two men. In October 2016, Biden used the same high school comment to defame Trump. At the time, Trump responded days later that he "love[d] that" idea of a fight and called Biden "Mr. Tough Guy."

Today, the fight rings of rehashed bygones amplified to a more presidential degree. It has also rallied a slew of fellow older folks who are tossing their takes on this juvenile fight: Sheriff David Clarke offered a homophobic question about why Biden is "hanging around all those locker rooms"; Sen. Ben Sasse commented the sassy "both of our crazy uncles are fistfighting in the backyard" when they should be handling DC debt; and Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake joked about the fight in regards to a snowball fight he had with Sen. Cory Booker.

There is no clear winner on this happening, but one thing is known: this is the sort of behavior that makes no one look good. At the time of Biden's 2016 high school comment, political consultant Frank Luntz summed it up best, noting how "unpresidential" the matter was. Today, the thoughts are reiterated by CNN's Chris Cillizza, who summed up the fight best: "This is all dumb."

Instagram Just Made a Major Improvement to Your Feed (but It's Still Not Chronological)

Almost immediately after Instagram switched its algorithm to a nonchronological, engagement-based system, social media users began reacting very strongly to their new feeds. Regular users and content creators alike had plenty of criticism about the algorithm, which would often bury new posts in favor of bubbling up user content from several days earlier - and there was no way for users to choose to view only new content. Now, after months of complaints, Instagram has made some major changes to its feed. While it's still not reverted back to chronological, the updates are a step in the right direction for users who crave new content.

In a blog post about the changes on March 22, the social media platform acknowledged issues with its algorithmic changes. "Today, we're introducing changes to give you more control over your feed and ensure the posts you see are timely," begins the announcement, continuing:

"We've heard it can feel unexpected when your feed refreshes and automatically bumps you to the top. So today we're testing a 'New Posts' button that lets you choose when you want to refresh, rather than it happening automatically. Tap the button and you'll be taken to new posts at the top of feed - don't tap, and you'll stay where you are. We hope this makes browsing Instagram much more enjoyable.

Based on your feedback, we're also making changes to ensure that newer posts are more likely to appear first in feed. With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won't miss the moments you care about."

Read Instagram's full announcement for more details, and don't be surprised if you start seeing changes while you scroll through Instagram - it's a huge step closer to never missing another post from your BFF.
