From Her Engagement to 2018, This Is Queen Letizia of Spain's Style Evolution
There's a clear difference in Queen Letizia of Spain's style from the moment it was first announced that the TV reporter (then known as Letizia Ortiz) was engaged to Prince Felipe, back in 2003, to today. During her first years as princess of Spain, Letizia kept a conservative look, wearing pantsuits, high necklines, and demure gowns, much like she did during her journalist days. But in the past couple of years, the queen has taken more risks, giving her style a modern turn in body-hugging dresses, printed skirts and pants, and Disney-worthy gowns. See the royal's transformation ahead, then check out her best moments with the king.

Jennifer Lopez's Shades of Blue Is Ending, and We Don't Know How to Handle It
We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to share some devastating news: Shades of Blue is ending! Yes, you read that right. The NBC series' third season will be its last. The show, which stars Jennifer Lopez as Detective Harlee Santos and Ray Liotta as Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, will air its final 10 episodes starting with the season three premiere on June 17.
"I have enjoyed producing and starring in this beautifully complicated world and playing such an empowering yet flawed character - a woman, a detective, but, first and foremost, a mother," Lopez told The Hollywood Reporter. "Now looking at it with a little distance, playing Harlee strengthened me and helped me grow into a more self-assured woman. It's crazy how some parts permeate your soul and change you forever and for that I am grateful. We crafted a poetic three-season arc on how her journey ends, which is true redemption. The way only Harlee could have done it - the hard way, the road less traveled. I thank NBC and all the talented actors, writers, crew and producers for going on this journey with us!"
The reason for the sudden ending of the hit show: Lopez's demanding schedule. The 48-year-old star is in NBC's upcoming live musical Bye Bye Birdie, filming two movies, and serving as a judge on World of Dance, and that's on top of her Las Vegas residency. The show might be ending, but we will cherish every moment until it's over.

Traveling With an Emotional Support Peacock? You Probably Want to Avoid United Airlines
Delta Air Lines announced a tougher policy on traveling with service and support animals earlier this month, but if one recent incident at Newark Liberty International Airport is any indication, it's likely that we'll see more of an industry-wide crackdown in the coming weeks.
As The Jet Set first reported on Jan. 29, a passenger and her emotional support animal attempted to board a United flight this past weekend, and despite having purchased two seats to avoid any and all issues with their travel plans, the animal was denied boarding. Because as it happens, the woman's traveling companion just happened to be a peacock.
This isn't a new problem, as Live and Let's Fly pointed out, and birds have been flying with their owners for years - much to the dismay of their fellow passengers. But it's worth noting that in its Jan. 19 policy change announcement, even Delta admitted there had been an uptick in unfortunate incidents as a result of increased numbers of in-flight animals. "Delta has seen an 84 percent increase in reported animal incidents since 2016," Delta said, adding that reported incidents included "urination/defecation, biting and even a widely reported attack by a 70-pound dog."
Naturally, the internet was split down the middle when it came to whether or not the woman and her peacock should have been allowed to board the flight. But from where we stand, it's now on the airlines to take a firm stance on the limits of support animals - and to ensure that the internet never has to ponder the pros and cons of fancy friends again.
Getting Robbed at Gunpoint Was Apparently a Walk in the Park For This Jimmy John's Employee
Sometimes, life hands you a bad day and you need to just let it ride out. That's how one Jimmy John's employee seemingly approached a robbery at gunpoint as he stoically handed the gunman money from the register.
The robbery took place at a Jimmy John's in Kansas City, MO, on April 26 at 9:15 p.m. In a video uploaded to YouTube by the Kansas City Police Department, the suspect, wearing a blue hoodie, enters the store and orders an item. As the cashier tells him his total, the suspect pulls out a gun. The Jimmy John's employee then takes off his gloves, hands him all the money, and even tries to give him the drawer with all the change. You can watch the encounter ahead.
The video quickly went viral on the internet, with some people on Twitter noting that the gun looks like it was jammed and that's why the cashier was so chill. According to the Kansas City Police YouTube page, police have the suspect in custody and they wrote, "Investigation is continuing." We hope the cashier and anyone else working during the robbery are home safe and sincerely OK.

The 10 Best Places to Go For Moms Who Want to Vacation All by Themselves
I was kayaking around Anacapa Island off the coast of Ventura, CA. The setting was stunning, but I was more focused on what - or rather, who - wasn't there: my 2-year-old daughter, Lucy, who was over 3,000 miles away in New Jersey with her babysitter. I felt guilty when I initially decided to go on the trip, but there was no way I could say no. I had always wanted to visit, and while the islands are family friendly, I knew Lucy wouldn't be up for things like hiking or kayaking. Besides, I didn't want to take the trip for her. I wanted to take the trip for myself.
I'm a single mom, and I don't have family nearby. That meant I needed to hire a babysitter for three days. I went back and forth about going a ridiculous number of times, but as I sat on the water, the waves lapping at my kayak, I was so thankful. Sure, I missed Lucy, but I hadn't realized how much I had missed myself. I hadn't kayaked since well before she was born, even though I used to lead kayak expeditions when I was in college. I had missed allowing my thoughts to unfold without interruption. I had missed letting myself set the schedule.
When I came back, I felt happy to see Lucy and happy in my own skin. I felt more energized, more relaxed, and absolutely certain that a solo mom trip isn't bad - it's wonderful. To be totally honestly, I think that alone time made me a better parent. It made me more aware of my own needs, more appreciative of the bond Lucy and I have, and thankful that the "old" me is still there. And I can't wait to plan another trip, so if you're also in need of a little getaway, keep reading for 10 of the best places you can travel to - all by yourself.
Why Your Rising Sun Sign in Astrology Is Said to Be Your "Autopilot"
Your rising sun sign, according to the zodiac, is the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment you were born. However, this sign is more than just a name. According to Joseph D'Airo, a Long Island, NY-based psychic medium and intuitive advisor who spoke to POPSUGAR in an email interview, the rising sun sign is one of the first personality traits that is revealed quickly after being born. The sun sign is the same as your zodiac sign, so whatever your normal zodiac sign is, that is also your sun sign.
"It is said the zodiac sign description is the first personality trait that we show, sometimes its confusing because we often don't see this aspect of ourselves but others see this in us. It means that this sign represents how you can present yourself to the world in the way we understand that particular Zodiac sign," he wrote.
According to Christina Hammarberg, a psychic medium, spiritual and intuitive advisor, and founder of Channeled Messages by Christina, the sun sign is usually the characteristics that are shown when you meet people for the first time and becomes your autopilot - your default reaction when in a new or different environment or around new people.
"The sun sign by itself offers only a glimpse at your personality, emotional tendencies, habits, etc. It's a bit of a mask, actually, because most people will stop there," she said in a phone interview with POPSUGAR.
As your life moves forward, your sun sign becomes your outer layer, noted Hammarberg, and your moon sign is your inner layer. However, characteristics of sun signs are said to decline a bit after the age of 30, as a person's self-confidence begins to increase.
"While there is no doubt that people feel strongly connected to their sun sign, the story often goes much deeper than that. Your sun sign only makes up the broadest strokes of the painting, so to speak," she said.
6 Trippy Harry Potter Photos That Will Make You Do a Double Take
Did someone slip me a befuddlement draught? Sure, the magic is a little tarnished seeing this behind-the-scenes image of Harry, Ron, and Hermione (I mean, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson) speaking with director David Yates on the set of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but something seems even more off about the following photos from the same film . . . Can you spot what it is?
The Number 1 Mistake That I Made at My Wedding
In the five years since my nearly-perfect wedding, I've had a lot of time to think about that day. While there is no doubt that I would do some things differently today, mostly because some styles have changed, at the time everything felt right. From the dress to my DIY flowers, it was a great way to capture in time who my husband and I were then. This is why I still get frustrated when I think about our catering mistake.
While my husband and I are definitely food-driven people, white tablecloth dining is not our scene. It feels dated and stuffy, an overly formal exercise that lets restaurants charge more while giving less. So it boggles my mind that we chose one such restaurant to cater our dinner, all because they charged less than what we had budgeted and we thought it was expected of us.
After going to a couple of weddings where people had to wait an hour to get through a buffet line, I thought the natural solution was to have a sit-down dinner with servers. To be fair to my restaurant, the food was fine, nothing to write home about, carbo-loading Italian. It was inoffensive and gave our guests a healthy layer of pasta so they could drink more wine without getting too drunk. It's not the quality of the food I regret, it's doing a sit-down meal at all.
I was so excited to talk to people, see loved ones I don't get to hang with very often, and relax that I was anxious during the whole meal and wanted to get it over with. My eagerness to wander also meant that I wanted nothing to do with wading through a heavy pasta and instead just wanted to graze for a bit. Since I had never had a wedding before, there was no way for me to predict this mood, but I should have known that formal dining is just not us.
I should have done the aggressively-trendy food-truck court and just let everyone hang out. My venue had the space and I could have gotten four to five food trucks for the cost of a mediocre Italian meal. This was way more our speed, essentially a continuation of the cocktail party that would have allowed us both to just embrace the amazing, atmospheric wedding-high while getting to enjoy a good meal.
Planning a wedding was finding ways to blend our personalities while also finding ways to make traditional elements work for us. I had no problem axing the need for a florist or using old-school vows, but somehow I got it in my head that a wedding needs a formal dining element. Weddings, of course, don't need to be any one thing, so if my husband and I decided to do the whole shindig again, I'll steer clear of fancy dining.
Disneyland Is Launching Mobile Ordering For Restaurants, So Bye Forever, Long Lines!
Disneyland will soon have a mobile ordering service available at restaurants throughout the resort, so you can officially kiss long lines goodbye when you're hungry. A Disney representative confirmed to POPSUGAR that guests will soon be able to place orders in advance at "select fast-casual and quick-service restaurants" through the Disneyland App, which is available for iOS and Android phones. In case you missed it, Disney World introduced mobile ordering at a few restaurants in 2017, so it's about time the original happiest place on earth caught up!
Here's how the new mobile feature works: you can search for participating locations in the Disneyland App and then select a desired window of time for pickup. You can view the restaurant's menu and place your order - plus, annual pass-holders can apply their discount to meal purchases - and when you arrive, you can notify the restaurant on the app. You'll get a notification when your meal is ready for you to pick up at a designated window.
Lastly, you can enjoy your food ASAP and congratulate yourself for skipping the line and the cash register. If you're in the midst of planning a trip to Disneyland, this is yet another tip to add to your list.
The 1 Problem With Traveling With a Toddler That Took Me by Total Surprise
Before venturing on my first flight with my 2 1/2-year-old son, I had a lot of concerns. My overactive brain thought about every problem that could likely occur . . . except for the one that actually did. Sure, having a toddler scream and kick on a plane would have been awful, but having him struggle through the time change was worse. Instead of this hurdle being over in a few short hours, it lasted days.
Two hours to an adult really isn't a big deal, but to a highly regimented toddler, it was something that, in hindsight, I shouldn't have underestimated. For days he was taking naps at the wrong time and for the wrong length, eating at odd hours, and waking far too early. All of these little changes made for a grumpy, exhausted, and overstimulated child. This, of course, meant I was also all of those things.
Sure, eventually he acclimated, but not without some strong compromises. A lot of time was wasted on our vacation because of missteps along the way. Knowing what I know now, there are some things I will be more mindful of in the future and one thing we did right.
- Heading east is not the same as heading west. On a previous road trip to New York, we didn't concern ourselves too much with the time change since he was going to be expected to stay up later than usual. However, for a child who has a strict schedule, staying up two hours later was huge. Be aware that you're asking a lot from them, and there will be an adjustment period.
- Be outside and active as much as possible. Since their rhythm is going to be off, it's best to get them exposed to as much sunlight as possible. Let them see that it's daylight and that life continues as normal, just in a new place. Additionally, keep them as active as possible so that they're not aware of how tired they are.
- Make car trips short. My son loves to nap in his car seat, and while that was great on the plane, it made getting him adjusted to the time change difficult. We'd get in the car to go to the children's museum and he'd fall asleep by the time we got there, thus ruining his naps.
- Bring snacks, but keep meal times consistent. He was ready for lunch at 10 a.m., despite having just eaten an impressively large breakfast. By trying to feed him his meals when he was hungry, I kept resetting his natural clock. Instead of trying to accommodate his insatiable appetite, I should have given him snacks to keep the hunger at bay and then focused on a proper lunch at a regular time.
- Be flexible, and think incrementally. My son's usual bedtime is 7:30 p.m., meaning that on our trip to the West Coast, he was going to want to sleep around 5:30 p.m. Since this would mean getting up at 5 a.m., which I obviously didn't want to do, I had to work his schedule incrementally. While I would have loved for him to go to bed at his normal time, this would have made for an overtired toddler. We compromised in the middle, and he was passed out around 6:30 p.m. In a couple days, we were able to move his bedtime back to his normal schedule. This was one way we were successful in dealing with the time change. When we travel again, I'll be sure to implement this strategy.
Yes, Facebook Really Did Break Tinder (For a Few Hours, Anyway)
Updated on April 5 to include comment from a Tinder spokesperson and resolution of the issue.
As The New York Times broke the news that the grand total of Facebook users affected by the Cambridge Analytica scandal now could reach up to a staggering 87 million, singles across the country who had casually grabbed their phones to look at push notifications and instinctively switched over to dating apps began, one by one, to realize that there was an altogether different problem happening at the very same time: Facebook, by proxy, had broken Tinder.
Starting at around 3:30 p.m. ET on April 4, anyone who attempted to log into Tinder with their Facebook account was greeted with a never-ending permissions loop that had no clear end in sight. At this stage, it's pretty safe to say that the issues are likely to have stemmed from the social media juggernaut's decision to restrict data access, as described in a blog post earlier that day: "We will also no longer allow apps to ask for access to personal information such as religious or political views, relationship status and details, custom friends lists, education and work history, fitness activity, book reading activity, music listening activity, news reading, video watch activity, and games activity."
In other words, Tinder appeared not to have had a plan in place for when Facebook (inevitably) threw the doomsday switch and forced users of the dating app to enter their own data, instead of sharing it - and as a result, all of its users were thrown into dating limbo. It wasn't long-lived, though: within two hours, the permissions no longer created a barrier to entry, and while it took several hours for users' message history and matches to repopulate, by late that evening, everything was business as usual.
When reached for comment, a Tinder spokesperson told POPSUGAR, "A technical issue prevented some users from accessing our service earlier today. We found a resolution and quickly resumed service. We ask our users to ensure that they have updated the app and are running the most recent version."
Yes, Donald Trump Is Still Obsessed With Barack Obama's Birth Certificate
Donald Trump infamously spearheaded the birther conspiracy theory up until the very end of his presidential campaign. After years of claiming Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States, Trump was forced to admit that Obama is in fact a natural-born citizen. The admission made it seem as though the preposterous attacks on Obama's citizenship would finally stop. As it turns out, Trump still has his doubts.
In a story about the president's recent denial of the leaked Access Hollywood tape, The New York Times spoke with several advisers who said Trump still privately questions the authenticity of Obama's birth certificate. A senator - who asked not to be named - confirmed these claims and said Trump has had a hard time letting go of the conspiracy theory.
The president has recently received backlash for defending Senate candidate Roy Moore, accused of several instances of sexual misconduct with young women. Unsurprisingly, Moore is also a committed participant of the birther movement and has been since Obama's election. As recently as December 2016, Moore said he still doesn't believe Obama is a natural-born citizen. "My opinion is, there is a big question about that," he said. "My personal belief is that he wasn't."
Successful Couples Swear by This Practical Secret to a Happy and Long Relationship
Long-term relationships have their ups and downs. But based on my experience, the book The Five Love Languages, written by relationship therapist Dr. Gary Chapman, actually provides a helpful roadmap for a lasting and happy relationship. Here's the premise: each person experiences and expresses love in different ways, known as a love lanugage. Those include words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch. Fulfilling relationships occur when a partner expresses love in their partner's primary love language. Breakdowns, on the other hand, happen when one partner gives love in the wrong language. For example: your partner buys you expensive jewelry (receiving gifts), but all you really want is a nice dinner out so you can reconnect (quality time).
According to the book, couples should figure out their primary love languages and share the results. This quiz is a great place to start. Once you know each other's love languages, you can be mindful of expressing love in a way your partner can accept it. If it sounds easier said than done, here's a breakdown of each lanugage and some concrete ways you can "speak" it.
11 Chic Travel Pants So You Never Sweat in Your Skinny Jeans on the Plane Again
Every time I pack for a trip, I always end up taking a pair of skinny jeans that I never wear, and I've decided to give up the habit this season. During those hot Summer months, tight pants are the last thing that sound comfortable. Instead of suffering on a long plane ride or walking around a scorching city in unbearably rigid jeans, I'm going to try wearing cropped wide-leg trousers or linen pants. These pant styles can be both professional or paired with sandals and taken to the beach. If you're interested, check out these comfortable options to keep you cool.
What I Learned From My Affair With a Married Man
When you are in a relationship, cheating is one of the worst things that can happen. First the rage sets in, then self-doubt, more rage, then the hurt. You find yourself questioning every little thing, and even eventually, you may begin to blame yourself. The reasons people cheat tend to be pretty broad, but take it from someone who has been on both sides of the cheating fence: it feels awful no matter what end of it you are on.
In graduate school while finishing my thesis, I found myself in a pretty lonely position. I loved the topic I was researching, but socially my life had become pretty isolated. It was all about getting edits to my adviser, research, and what my next professional steps would be, which didn't leave much time for dating.
It was also around this time I began to work pretty regularly at a bar near campus. The coffee was pretty decent, happy hour was all day, and I could work there and still feel like I was getting human contact. I worked in that same bar for months, until finally, one day, I felt a tap on my shoulder. An older man introduced himself, asked if I came there often. In the same conversation, he also casually mentioned he was a professor at the same university I attended.
I thought nothing of it at the time, but over the next month, I kept running into him. Eventually he offered to buy me a drink and asked me more about my research. Although we were in different fields, it was nice to have someone take an interest in my work besides my thesis adviser. These kinds of casual conversations went on for a few months, until he started to invite me out with his other graduate students.
It seemed like a fun opportunity and something I should take advantage of. But little did I know, this much older professor was angling for more than my research. The drinks with his graduate students eventually turned into late-night texting with him. I knew better than to flirt with a much older, married, tenured professor but thought it was flattering to have his attention (he was 52 at the time and I was 29). We kept hanging out socially, and beyond a few racy text exchanges, nothing had crossed a physical line. It was when he started to confide in me about the problems he was having with his wife that I began to realize the magnitude of what was happening.
I tried my best to offer suggestions, but I found myself more and more confused by the late-night conversations and what the boundaries were with this new relationship. I tried to navigate a more personal friendship, which was something I had done with other professors in the past, but this seemed different. While there was an attraction, I tried to respect his marriage and set clear boundaries with what I was and was not comfortable discussing with him. Although I tried to be clear about my parameters, he didn't take no for an answer, and eventually his advances wore me down. I wanted to discuss the power dynamics of what we were entering into - him being a tenured professor and me still a graduate student, even if I wasn't in his department. However, those conversations never seemed to take place. The spirited text conversations turned into full-blown sexting, and that Summer, our emotional affair began.
It wasn't until that following Fall when our relationship became physical. He was still married, and while I was attracted to him, I wasn't looking to change his situation or to cause trouble. The social drinking with his graduate students continued, but it was now followed by trips to his office before or after. He'd pay for my drinks, and there was an occasional lunch or dinner. Sometimes he'd buy me a book, tote bag, and even an occasional piece of lingerie or sex toy. It was sexy, and no one seemed to know, but things came to a head that November when he wanted to go to a hotel.
I apprehensively went along with it, but that night, something shifted. I knew I wasn't in a place I actually wanted to be in with him emotionally or otherwise. It ended just as quickly as it began, but over the course of having an affair, he had taken something from me. He had taken little pieces of my emotional vulnerability and had not respected my boundaries. It made me want to take back control and get those things back. Our relationship made me take stock of my life, what had occurred, and I became very reflective about it.
It took me months to shake the embarrassment and shame, but over time, and with a good therapist, I was able to start healing from the situation. It made me become more solid in who I am and clearer about what my boundaries are, and it also taught me to forgive myself. While it may not have been the best relationship for me to enter into at the time, and there certainly was pressure from that person, with a lot of hard work after it, I grew as a person. I don't think I would make the same mistake today, and I learned a lot about myself in the process.

Can you get a little silly if you're writing the card for your brother or sister? If that's the kind of relationship you have, then yes! Is there such a thing as being too sentimental - well, in our humble opinion, nope! Sharing a special anecdote or writing something on the sappier side is something we would save for the couples that are super close to us and who would love to hear something straight from the heart.
Still not sure what to write? Don't worry, we've got you covered. Check out these suggestions to help you with writing the perfect engagement card.

If You Do This 1 Disney World Vacation Hack, You're Guaranteed to Have the Best Time
Planning a trip to Disney World can feel like an overwhelming task. Sure, it's fun and truly makes everyone's dreams come true (it's the happiest place on Earth, after all), but getting there and feeling like you're getting the most out of your trip can be anxiety-inducing. There are a million tips out there for how to plan a Disney vacation the right way, but trying to incorporate all those tips might just increase your stress levels more than assuage them.
So, from a mom who's been there, here's the one and only hack you really need to make your trip to Disney World as unforgettable as you hope it'll be: focus on booking three things - lodging, dining, and FastPass+ - as early as the park will allow; then let the rest go. As my mom reminded me before my daughter's first trip to Disney, "If you go on three rides, it will still be the best day of her life." I agree, but getting on the rides she wanted, plus having a place to eat and sleep is kind of important, too.
Here's the bare minimum of what you need to stress about to make your trip as magical as possible. Focus on these three things, and you're golden.
Lodging
Start researching your Disney resort options as soon as you know you're planning a trip. There are so many places to stay within Walt Disney World at a wide range of price points that move depending on demand, so do your research to find the right spot for your family. If you're booking your lodging online, you can't do so until Disney releases the next year's rates, which is usually in August of the previous year (for example, if you're going in February 2019, you won't be able to book until August 2018).
However, you can call Disney before that and make a room-only reservation. They will charge you for a single night based on this year's rate, and then automatically adjust your reservation once the 2019 pricing is released. At that point, you can also convert your room-only reservation into a Disney Vacation Package reservation, adding dates, dining packages, and discounted park tickets. You'll also be able to customize your complimentary Magic Bands through your reservation.
Dining
You can reserve dining at all the Disney table-service restaurants up to 180 days in advance, which is a big win when it comes to planning your travels. The most popular restaurants - the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella's Royal Table and Be Our Guest (the only restaurant that serves alcohol in the park), and all character dining experiences in Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom - will book up quickly during high-traffic times, so book as soon as possible. Some restaurants will require that you pay for your meal when you reserve, but if you have to cancel later, they'll give you a refund.
FastPass+
Your FastPass+ is your get-out-of-line free card for each park, so use them wisely. Each member of your group can book up to three Fastpass+ credits for each day, so you'll want to get the most out of them. Do some research into what rides and attractions are can't-misses for your group, prioritizing Fastpass+ for those with the longest lines. Then, try to book them as early as you can (30 days in advance, or 60 days for those staying at a resort hotel). The most popular rides and character meetings book up quickly, so mark your calendar.
Be sure to read the FastPass+ fine print, as some of the parks (such as Epcot) have tiered systems that restrict the use of more than one Fastpass+ in a top tier (you will have to choose between Frozen Ever After and Soarin'), whereas others (like Animal Kingdom) may make you choose between certain high-demand rides (such as Avatar Flight of Passage and Na'vi River Journey).
Also, be aware of the times you're booking for your FastPass+ credits, as well. Once you use all three FastPass+ in one day, you'll be able to book more while you're in the park, which means that if all your reservations are scheduled before early afternoon, you'll have plenty of time to score a couple more. However, mornings (usually before 11 a.m.) are the slowest time at the parks, so arrive early enough (take advantage of Extra Magic Hours if you're staying on the property), and you might be able to get on your favorite rides without waiting in line anyway. Strategy is key.
My Secret to a Great Marriage? Travel Without Your Kids
Marriage advice. I don't like people dishing it out. No relationship is like the other, so how could advice be applicable to everyone? But I'm going to break my own rule and say something more couples need to hear: you and your partner should go away every year without your kids. It may sound like an obvious suggestion, but you'd be surprised how many couples have never been away from their kids . . . like, ever. Constantly being together isn't healthy for anyone, including your kids. Here are my top five reasons traveling with only your partner is often the difference between a mundane marriage and an "I want what that couple has" marriage.
1. Sex.
The difference between a partner and a friend is this. And if there's one area of marriage that tends to suffer the most after kids, it's sex. Whether it's because of postpartum body changes, mind-numbing exhaustion, hormone changes resulting in less drive, or babies and toddlers in your bed, sex becomes, well, a little less sexy. But you know what can really help solve this? A hotel room, a tropical climate backdrop, and the notion that the only thing on the agenda for the next few days is drinking wine, eating decadent food, talking without interruption, and having nobody else to tend to (read: no vomit to clean). It's amazing how easy it is to slip back into the mindset of, "Oh my God, I'm actually attracted to my partner," because the daily grind can easily blur that.
2. Conversations that don't focus on your kids.
You occasionally sneak in snippets of your days to each other in between bedtime routines and couch pow-wows while watching Netflix, but you've really only scratched the surface (if you were listening that intently to begin with). Going out for date nights is a good start, but, in my opinion, it takes a few days away to properly remember that you two are people outside of kids. When my husband and I go away, we talk about the kids constantly for the first 36 hours, and then all of a sudden, we forget. And it's glorious. The health of the family is only as strong as the parental unit, no matter what that looks like, and when my husband and I aren't having meaningful conversations that don't involve our kids, I find that our overall family health suffers.
3. Exploring new things.
Remember when you first met and everything was exciting? And everything they said was funny, witty, and clever? Tack on a few years of marriage, general life stress, and a bunch of kids, and that excitement dissipates. When you travel to a new place with only your partner, suddenly everything (even mundane activities) becomes just a touch more exciting. And yes, it's fun to travel as a family and explore, which you should do often, but it's really fun to explore with only your partner. You might even remember why you married them in the first place or, at the very least, laugh (even if only occasionally) at their jokes again.
4. Your kids are better for it.
I realize that to even have the opportunity to get away for a week or a few days with only your partner requires a certain village of love surrounding you. But I'm willing to bet your parents, siblings, close friends, nanny, in-laws, etc. have a vested interest in the health of your marriage. People who love you want to help, and I don't know many grandparents who aren't clamoring for more undivided grandchild time. My mom says she now understands the reason for having kids is "to get to the grandkids" (thanks, Mom). But in all seriousness, you leaving your kids for a few days and having them live their best life with other people who love and care for them is a great experience for them as well.
5. Travel is good for the soul.
When we stay in our own bubbles, it's easy to forget there's a whole world out there full of different people, different perspectives, and beautiful ideas worth seeing and knowing about. When you travel and can be fully present without a bunch of kids tugging on your leg, you allow yourself the capacity to invite new experiences into your life, which you then take back home.
So, there you have it. The only marriage advice I will ever dish out. Every time my husband and I get away together without our kids, we come back appreciative, grateful, reenergized, and excited to reenter our blissful chaos with our kids. We make a point to get away for at least four days every year, just us. We don't have a perfect marriage, but I dare say we have a really great one. And I definitely think it's because we prioritize and value our time just as much as family time.
Help, I Can't Unsee These Photos of Trump's Combover Blowing in the Wind
During these trying times that make me question my American citizenship and overall faith in humanity, I'm always looking for sources of good ol' comedic relief. Yesterday, that came in the form of memes related to the viral "Walmart yodel kid," and today, my daily dose of chuckles was brought forth by none other than our president - specifically, his mesmerizing hair.
Before jetting off to West Virginia on April 5, Donald Trump boarded Air Force One (or shall I say Hair Force One?), and was accompanied by some very, very strong gusts of wind, courtesy of the aircraft. These gusts were so mighty, in fact, that they nearly dismantled Trump's presidential toupee for good. But alas, his blond strands clung for dear life and defied gravity above his scalp. The whole thing made for quite the hysterical photo opp, and the video footage is just as captivating.

I'm sorry, but I can't help but chuckle at this, and I know I'm not the only one who finds humor in Trump's unruly 'do. Read on to admire POTUS's windblown combover, and keep reading to see some of the best Twitter reactions to its near-death experience. Cue the angry Trump tweets about these photos being "fake news" in 3, 2, 1 . . .
4 Dreamers Remember the Moment They Learned They Were Undocumented
While many recipients of DACA - who are known as Dreamers - grow up in the US fully aware they are undocumented, that's not the case for everyone. In fact, some Dreamers had little to no knowledge that they came into the country illegally until one jarring moment revealed the truth. Some lived their young lives thinking their future held the same opportunities as their classmates' and friends' - only to find out later that their paths would be uncertain.
The Development, Relief, and Education For Alien Minors Act, or Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals, has been in limbo since the Trump administration announced its plans to rescind the program in September 2017. DACA was first established as an executive order by then-President Barack Obama in 2012; it allows protections for recipients under the age of 31 who were brought into the country illegally before their 16th birthday.
While the Supreme Court did buy DACA recipients some more time with its decision to not hear arguments from Congress on the program's future - therefore allowing DACA to continue - the ongoing debate over immigration still leaves many Dreamers uncertain and fearing the worst.
POPSUGAR spoke to Dreamers who still remember clearly the surprise and dread they felt when they discovered they were undocumented. Here are their stories.
So, Brad Pitt Reportedly Has a New "Fascinating" Lady Friend in His Life
News broke last month that Angelina Jolie is reportedly dating again after splitting from Brad Pitt in 2016. But if you thought Brad was at home moping around, think again. According to Page Six, the 54-year-old actor has also been spending time with MIT professor Neri Oxman. The two reportedly met after Brad was referred to Neri to collaborate on an architectural project, and they quickly became friends.
"Brad and Neri instantly hit it off because they share the same passion for architecture, design, and art," a source told the publication. "This is best described as a professional friendship. Their friendship has not turned into romance, as both are cautious and this is, again, more of a professional friendship, but Brad is very interested in spending more time with Neri. She is fascinating."
A close friend also confirmed to Page Six that Brad and Neri have been hanging out. "You are correct that they are just friends and she is very impressive."
Even though Brad and Neri are only friends right now, it's worth noting that they have one major thing in common: they're both divorced. Before Angelina, Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston, and Neri was previously married to Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov.
5 Ways Michelle Obama Is Still Working Her Ass Off in 2018
Michelle Obama may no longer be America's First Lady, but she's still getting sh*t done. In addition to her family life, Michelle has continued to support children's education with her Reach Higher and Better Make Room initiatives, and she and Barack are working hard to get the Obama Presidential Center up and running in Chicago. It's only April, but Michelle clearly isn't wasting any time this year.
Jesus Christ Superstar: Watch Sara Bareilles's Quietly Powerful "I Don't Know How to Love Him"
In the midst of all the leather, glitter, and deep v-necks in Jesus Christ Superstar Live!, there was a stripped-down performance that had us feeling instantly emotional. While some numbers in NBC's live musical - which prompted fans to share some seriously entertaining opinions on Twitter - were flashy, colorful affairs, Sara Bareilles's "I Don't Know How to Love Him" stands out because it's such a simple, quietly powerful rendition of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-written song. It's like Bareilles's voice was practically made to sing it. Watch it above, then check out all the big musical moments from the show.
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn's Modern Family Is Absolutely Golden
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have one epic romance, but the only thing sweeter than their love story is their adorable blended family. Together, they share four children: Boston Russell, from Kurt's previous marriage to Season Hubley, Kate and Oliver Hudson, from Goldie's previous marriage to Bill Hudson, and their son, Wyatt, who they welcomed in 1986. In addition to their kids, they also have five grandchildren. While they have been known to post about their sweet family life on social media, they have also brought out the Russell/Hudson clan on the red carpet from time to time. Wondering If You Should Stick Around For a Postcredits Scene in Ready Player One? Read This
Pretty much as soon as Ready Player One's epic trailer hit the internet, the backlash began. Steven Spielberg's futuristic action-adventure film, adapted from Ernest Cline's 2011 novel of the same name, was almost instantaneously hit with gripes about letting nostalgia do the heavy emotional lifting for the story. While there are plenty of fun blink-and-you'll-miss-it nods to films and video games past, the movie is an entertaining ride in and of itself, and totally worth paying for a movie ticket to see it on the big screen. Once the credits start to roll, though, should you stick around for a postcredits scene à la Marvel?
The short answer: there is no postcredits scene. Ready Player One might take place in a dystopian future, but Spielberg made the refreshing decision to keep it old school and bypass including any bonus footage after all the credits have passed. The long answer: there are still a few reasons why you shouldn't rush out of the theater!
The credits are still special thanks to the soundtrack, which is full of awesome tunes. It's safe to say Ready Player One saves the best for last. Once the story of Wade Watts's journey through the virtual reality of the OASIS finally comes to a close, the first notes of Hall & Oates classic "You Make My Dreams Come True" blast from the speakers. It's the perfect way to close out a film that has so much heart (and, obviously, a deep obsession with the '80s). Even when the music transitions into the film's score, Alan Silvestri's Ready Player One suite, it's hard not to stay seated and listen to the full thing.
Roseanne and Dan Have Nothing on John Goodman's 29-Year Romance With His Real-Life Wife
John Goodman is most known for his on-screen romance with Roseanne Barr as the stern, yet loving husband, Dan Conner, on Roseanne, but in real-life, the 65-year-old actor has been married for nearly three decades. John said "I do!" to Anna Elizabeth Hartzog in November 1989 in New Orleans after proposing on the Mississippi River that Spring. Roseanne and Tom Arnold – her fiancé at the time - along with then-couple Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, were among the wedding attendees.
John and Anna, who goes by Annabeth, first met in 1987 while the Emmy award-winning actor was filming in New Orleans for the 1988 film Everybody's All-American. At the time, Annabeth was a fine-arts student at the University of New Orleans. The couple welcomed their first and only child, Molly Evangeline Goodman, in August 1990.
In 2018, John opened up about his battle with alcoholism and credited Annabeth for helping him beat his addiction. During an interview with Sunday Today With Willie Geist, John told the host that he reached his breaking point when he missed a rehearsal for the 2007 Emmys right before accepting his award. "[Annabeth] made some phone calls," he shared. "She got me into a treatment center, and I detoxed there and decided I liked the feeling. And it's been 10 years [sober]."
