Wondering If You Should Stick Around For a Postcredits Scene in Ready Player One? Read This
Pretty much as soon as Ready Player One's epic trailer hit the internet, the backlash began. Steven Spielberg's futuristic action-adventure film, adapted from Ernest Cline's 2011 novel of the same name, was almost instantaneously hit with gripes about letting nostalgia do the heavy emotional lifting for the story. While there are plenty of fun blink-and-you'll-miss-it nods to films and video games past, the movie is an entertaining ride in and of itself, and totally worth paying for a movie ticket to see it on the big screen. Once the credits start to roll, though, should you stick around for a postcredits scene à la Marvel?
The short answer: there is no postcredits scene. Ready Player One might take place in a dystopian future, but Spielberg made the refreshing decision to keep it old school and bypass including any bonus footage after all the credits have passed. The long answer: there are still a few reasons why you shouldn't rush out of the theater!
The credits are still special thanks to the soundtrack, which is full of awesome tunes. It's safe to say Ready Player One saves the best for last. Once the story of Wade Watts's journey through the virtual reality of the OASIS finally comes to a close, the first notes of Hall & Oates classic "You Make My Dreams Come True" blast from the speakers. It's the perfect way to close out a film that has so much heart (and, obviously, a deep obsession with the '80s). Even when the music transitions into the film's score, Alan Silvestri's Ready Player One suite, it's hard not to stay seated and listen to the full thing.
Roseanne and Dan Have Nothing on John Goodman's 29-Year Romance With His Real-Life Wife
John Goodman is most known for his on-screen romance with Roseanne Barr as the stern, yet loving husband, Dan Conner, on Roseanne, but in real-life, the 65-year-old actor has been married for nearly three decades. John said "I do!" to Anna Elizabeth Hartzog in November 1989 in New Orleans after proposing on the Mississippi River that Spring. Roseanne and Tom Arnold – her fiancé at the time - along with then-couple Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, were among the wedding attendees.
John and Anna, who goes by Annabeth, first met in 1987 while the Emmy award-winning actor was filming in New Orleans for the 1988 film Everybody's All-American. At the time, Annabeth was a fine-arts student at the University of New Orleans. The couple welcomed their first and only child, Molly Evangeline Goodman, in August 1990.
In 2018, John opened up about his battle with alcoholism and credited Annabeth for helping him beat his addiction. During an interview with Sunday Today With Willie Geist, John told the host that he reached his breaking point when he missed a rehearsal for the 2007 Emmys right before accepting his award. "[Annabeth] made some phone calls," he shared. "She got me into a treatment center, and I detoxed there and decided I liked the feeling. And it's been 10 years [sober]."

Rihanna Steps Out For a Fenty Event, and Frankly, Her Beauty Is Starting to Stress Me Out
Rihanna was the belle of the ball at the Sephora Loves Fenty Beauty event in Milan on Thursday. The stunning singer (and reality TV fan) posed for photos in a black leather Versace number that only recently hit the runway during the brand's Fall 2018 show in February. She looked amazing, as per usual. To be totally honest, I'm getting a little tired of Rihanna mocking me with her beauty. Her physical perfection is starting to stress me out, frankly.
Before stepping out on the red carpet, Rihanna shared an Instagram video of herself applying her new Body Lava luminizer, which drops on April 6. She certainly has a history of glowing, so I appreciate her helping the rest of us obtain it in some small way.

12 Photos That Show Just How Much Memphis (and the World) Mourned When Elvis Presley Died
This August will mark the 41st anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, and the world is still mourning one of music's biggest losses to this day. Elvis passed away at age 42 when he suffered a heart attack on Aug. 16, 1977, and his funeral was held in his adopted hometown of Memphis just two days later. President Jimmy Carter issued a statement that said Elvis "permanently changed the face of American popular culture," and thousands of mourners flocked to the streets to pay their respects as his casket was driven through town. While an estimated 80,000 people turned up to watch the processional route to Forest Hill Cemetery, more than 30,000 fans attended a public viewing of Elvis's casket at his Graceland home, which was ordered by his father, Vernon. Elvis was buried next to his beloved mother, Gladys, but they were both later reburied at Graceland. Keep reading to see how the world mourned his heartbreaking death 40 years ago.

Whether he's in a suit, rocking a tux, or just chillin' in a sweater, Dwayne can do no wrong. Just see for yourself!
3 Avengers Who May Be Casualties of Infinity War - Besides Iron Man
We have serious questions about who's going to die in Avengers: Infinity War. Now that we've seen the second trailer, we're breathing heavily, asking questions like, "What is Thanos doing to Thor's head and why are there a bunch of needles stuck to Doctor Strange?" With Avengers 4 coming out in 2019, it gets tricky for fans to figure out whether their favorite superhero will actually appear in the next Avengers project in present time, or if they're actually appearing in a flashback. We've definitely got some theories about who's going to die, though.
In terms of who's going to make it out alive, Black Panther and Spider-Man appear safe for now since they have upcoming sequels. Doctor Strange will likely get another installation as well, given his successful debut into the MCU. Black Widow will finally appear in a long overdue solo movie, so we don't foresee her keeling over in Infinity War either.
Things are up in the air for everyone else, though. The stakes are big for the characters, and their evil Titan warlord enemy is even bigger. We've boiled down a list of three Avengers who are strong candidates for death in Infinity War.

A Horrifying Sequel to A Quiet Place Isn't Out of the Question, According to the Writers
Believe the hype - A Quiet Place is a horror movie masterpiece. The film, directed by John Krasinski and out on April 5, follows a couple (Krasinski and real-life wife Emily Blunt) trying to raise their two children in a dystopian future. There's a terrifying catch, however - while the family is still able to maintain a sliver of normalcy (eating dinner together, going into town, playing board games), they live with the constant threat that aliens could kill them at any moment if they make a single sound. While the aliens are blind, they're incredibly fast and have freakishly good hearing, meaning that the characters must live life in near-permanent silence.
It's a thrilling, inventive premise, resulting in a tense, brutally scary addition to the horror genre. Of course, given A Quiet Place's stellar reviews and its ending (which we won't spoil for you here), it certainly seems like the story could continue on in a sequel. There are still plenty of fascinating things screenwriters Bryan Woods and Scott Beck could explore if they were granted a second crack at the nightmarish universe they've created, from the origin of the monsters to the stories of other survivors. So, could another film be on the way?
When we attended a press conference with the writers ahead of the film's April release, both they and Krasinski seemed more than open to it. "It's such a fun world, there are so many things you could do," Woods responded when asked if we'd ever get another glimpse into the world in A Quiet Place. Beck also chimed in, noting that they have a ton of ideas just waiting to be brought to the big screen. "There are so many discarded set pieces, too, hiding in Word documents on our computer," he explained. "There are certainly so many different stories you could tell. It's just really, at the end of the day, who are the characters in this, and what does this situation mean to that family."
The writing duo also opened up to MovieWeb about the film's sequel potential, joking that they'd have to title it A Quieter Place.
"I think at this point there's multiple universes that it could go in, to be completely honest," Beck said. "I think you could continue down one path, that's very obvious, or you could spin off into a completely unexpected direction, which is certainly always interesting for us. The uncharted territory of filmmaking is always where you find the best inspiration."
If any film out there is more deserving of becoming the next lauded horror movie franchise, A Quiet Place is it.
The Good Doctor: Who Is and Isn't Returning to St. Bonaventure Hospital Next Season
The Good Doctor gained critical acclaim during its first season, which is in large part due to its stellar cast. While Freddie Highmore's incredible portrayal of Shaun Murphy earned him his first Golden Globe nomination, the rest of the show's ensemble is equally talented. Over this season, we have grown to love each and every character, which is why we're especially sad to see one of them go. Deadline recently confirmed that Chuku Modu, who played Jared Kalu, will not be returning for season two. Thankfully, the show is adding four new series regulars in his place. See who all is expected to return for season two ahead.
Yes, the Tag Movie Is Really Based on a True Story
It's rare to see the famed "based on a true story" line appear in a comedy trailer. Usually, those words are reserved for movies based on harrowing real-life events or as a clever way to draw people into a horror film. However, the upcoming comedy Tag is based on a different kind of true story - one that's grounded in a long-standing friendship between 10 friends who started playing a game of tag in high school and mostly never stopped.
Tag stars Jeremy Renner, Jake Johnson, Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, Isla Fisher, and Hannibal Buress as a group of friends who have been playing the same game of tag since high school. Renner's character, Jerry, is ready to retire from the game after managing to avoid ever being "it." His friends all come together in hopes of finally tagging him, which leads to one crazy month as everyone bands together to tag their untaggable pal. The trailer includes lots of fun moments that feel like Hollywood embellishments - like Hamm's character tagging one of his friends while his wife is giving birth - but make no mistake, the real people who inspired the film have gone to some serious extremes to tag each other.
In 2013, The Wall Street Journal ran a story about a man named Brian Dennehy and his nine friends who loved to play tag on the campus of their high school. One of his friends, Joe Tombari, was almost "it" for life when he failed to tag someone on his last day of high school in 1982. For a while, that was indeed the end of the game for the group as they went their separate ways in life, but a reunion roughly eight years later led to the game starting up once more - this time with a contract.
Patrick Schultheis, who was a first-year lawyer at the time, drafted the Tag Participation Agreement. The primary rule is that each year the game runs for the entire month of February, and whoever is "it" at the end of the month holds the title until the following year. There are no geographic restrictions to the game, which leads to intricate plans being plotted and lots of frequent-flyer miles being used.
Sean Raftis once flew all the way to Seattle in order to tag Tombari by curling up in the trunk of a car and springing out at him unexpectedly. His plan worked - but his friend's wife ended up being a casualty when she tripped off of the sidewalk from the fright. "My wife was so startled she fell and injured her knee, but she wasn't angry; she was pleased to see Sean," Tombari told The Guardian. "All our partners are good-natured about the game - they even get involved in the sting operations."
One scene in the trailer that moviegoers may suspect is fabricated is very much based on real life. Yes, one of the guys tagged someone at their father's funeral, and according to Tombari, it remains one of the game's most memorable moments. He explained to The Guardian, "Perhaps one of the most unexpected tags was during Mike's father's funeral. During the service, he felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to find Joe mouthing, 'You're it.' Afterwards, he said his father would have approved, because he found our game hilarious."
While it may seem strange to think of a group of middle-aged men keeping one game of tag going for more than two decades, at the heart of their commitment is a dedication to keeping their close bond alive. Now that they've spread out across the country, gotten married, started careers, and had kids, seeing each other isn't as easy as it once was, but for one month out of the year, they never know when an old friend might pop out of a bush to surprise them - literally.
As Tombari said in his interview,
"The best thing about the game is that it has kept us in touch over all these years - it forces us to meet and has formed a strong bond between us, almost like brothers. How many [40-somethings] can say they still see nine friends they went to school with? We joke that we'll still be playing in our retirement homes. I plan to use a wheelchair instead of a Zimmer frame, because it's faster."
If the movie can capture the heart of the friendship that exists between its real-life inspirations, then Tag could become one of the Summer's sweetest and most hilarious films.
Successful Couples Swear by This Practical Secret to a Happy and Long Relationship
Long-term relationships have their ups and downs. But based on my experience, the book The Five Love Languages, written by relationship therapist Dr. Gary Chapman, actually provides a helpful roadmap for a lasting and happy relationship. Here's the premise: each person experiences and expresses love in different ways, known as a love lanugage. Those include words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch. Fulfilling relationships occur when a partner expresses love in their partner's primary love language. Breakdowns, on the other hand, happen when one partner gives love in the wrong language. For example: your partner buys you expensive jewelry (receiving gifts), but all you really want is a nice dinner out so you can reconnect (quality time).
According to the book, couples should figure out their primary love languages and share the results. This quiz is a great place to start. Once you know each other's love languages, you can be mindful of expressing love in a way your partner can accept it. If it sounds easier said than done, here's a breakdown of each lanugage and some concrete ways you can "speak" it.
11 Chic Travel Pants So You Never Sweat in Your Skinny Jeans on the Plane Again
Every time I pack for a trip, I always end up taking a pair of skinny jeans that I never wear, and I've decided to give up the habit this season. During those hot Summer months, tight pants are the last thing that sound comfortable. Instead of suffering on a long plane ride or walking around a scorching city in unbearably rigid jeans, I'm going to try wearing cropped wide-leg trousers or linen pants. These pant styles can be both professional or paired with sandals and taken to the beach. If you're interested, check out these comfortable options to keep you cool.
What I Learned From My Affair With a Married Man
When you are in a relationship, cheating is one of the worst things that can happen. First the rage sets in, then self-doubt, more rage, then the hurt. You find yourself questioning every little thing, and even eventually, you may begin to blame yourself. The reasons people cheat tend to be pretty broad, but take it from someone who has been on both sides of the cheating fence: it feels awful no matter what end of it you are on.
In graduate school while finishing my thesis, I found myself in a pretty lonely position. I loved the topic I was researching, but socially my life had become pretty isolated. It was all about getting edits to my adviser, research, and what my next professional steps would be, which didn't leave much time for dating.
It was also around this time I began to work pretty regularly at a bar near campus. The coffee was pretty decent, happy hour was all day, and I could work there and still feel like I was getting human contact. I worked in that same bar for months, until finally, one day, I felt a tap on my shoulder. An older man introduced himself, asked if I came there often. In the same conversation, he also casually mentioned he was a professor at the same university I attended.
I thought nothing of it at the time, but over the next month, I kept running into him. Eventually he offered to buy me a drink and asked me more about my research. Although we were in different fields, it was nice to have someone take an interest in my work besides my thesis adviser. These kinds of casual conversations went on for a few months, until he started to invite me out with his other graduate students.
It seemed like a fun opportunity and something I should take advantage of. But little did I know, this much older professor was angling for more than my research. The drinks with his graduate students eventually turned into late-night texting with him. I knew better than to flirt with a much older, married, tenured professor but thought it was flattering to have his attention (he was 52 at the time and I was 29). We kept hanging out socially, and beyond a few racy text exchanges, nothing had crossed a physical line. It was when he started to confide in me about the problems he was having with his wife that I began to realize the magnitude of what was happening.
I tried my best to offer suggestions, but I found myself more and more confused by the late-night conversations and what the boundaries were with this new relationship. I tried to navigate a more personal friendship, which was something I had done with other professors in the past, but this seemed different. While there was an attraction, I tried to respect his marriage and set clear boundaries with what I was and was not comfortable discussing with him. Although I tried to be clear about my parameters, he didn't take no for an answer, and eventually his advances wore me down. I wanted to discuss the power dynamics of what we were entering into - him being a tenured professor and me still a graduate student, even if I wasn't in his department. However, those conversations never seemed to take place. The spirited text conversations turned into full-blown sexting, and that Summer, our emotional affair began.
It wasn't until that following Fall when our relationship became physical. He was still married, and while I was attracted to him, I wasn't looking to change his situation or to cause trouble. The social drinking with his graduate students continued, but it was now followed by trips to his office before or after. He'd pay for my drinks, and there was an occasional lunch or dinner. Sometimes he'd buy me a book, tote bag, and even an occasional piece of lingerie or sex toy. It was sexy, and no one seemed to know, but things came to a head that November when he wanted to go to a hotel.
I apprehensively went along with it, but that night, something shifted. I knew I wasn't in a place I actually wanted to be in with him emotionally or otherwise. It ended just as quickly as it began, but over the course of having an affair, he had taken something from me. He had taken little pieces of my emotional vulnerability and had not respected my boundaries. It made me want to take back control and get those things back. Our relationship made me take stock of my life, what had occurred, and I became very reflective about it.
It took me months to shake the embarrassment and shame, but over time, and with a good therapist, I was able to start healing from the situation. It made me become more solid in who I am and clearer about what my boundaries are, and it also taught me to forgive myself. While it may not have been the best relationship for me to enter into at the time, and there certainly was pressure from that person, with a lot of hard work after it, I grew as a person. I don't think I would make the same mistake today, and I learned a lot about myself in the process.

If You Do This 1 Disney World Vacation Hack, You're Guaranteed to Have the Best Time
Planning a trip to Disney World can feel like an overwhelming task. Sure, it's fun and truly makes everyone's dreams come true (it's the happiest place on Earth, after all), but getting there and feeling like you're getting the most out of your trip can be anxiety-inducing. There are a million tips out there for how to plan a Disney vacation the right way, but trying to incorporate all those tips might just increase your stress levels more than assuage them.
So, from a mom who's been there, here's the one and only hack you really need to make your trip to Disney World as unforgettable as you hope it'll be: focus on booking three things - lodging, dining, and FastPass+ - as early as the park will allow; then let the rest go. As my mom reminded me before my daughter's first trip to Disney, "If you go on three rides, it will still be the best day of her life." I agree, but getting on the rides she wanted, plus having a place to eat and sleep is kind of important, too.
Here's the bare minimum of what you need to stress about to make your trip as magical as possible. Focus on these three things, and you're golden.
Lodging
Start researching your Disney resort options as soon as you know you're planning a trip. There are so many places to stay within Walt Disney World at a wide range of price points that move depending on demand, so do your research to find the right spot for your family. If you're booking your lodging online, you can't do so until Disney releases the next year's rates, which is usually in August of the previous year (for example, if you're going in February 2019, you won't be able to book until August 2018).
However, you can call Disney before that and make a room-only reservation. They will charge you for a single night based on this year's rate, and then automatically adjust your reservation once the 2019 pricing is released. At that point, you can also convert your room-only reservation into a Disney Vacation Package reservation, adding dates, dining packages, and discounted park tickets. You'll also be able to customize your complimentary Magic Bands through your reservation.
Dining
You can reserve dining at all the Disney table-service restaurants up to 180 days in advance, which is a big win when it comes to planning your travels. The most popular restaurants - the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella's Royal Table and Be Our Guest (the only restaurant that serves alcohol in the park), and all character dining experiences in Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom - will book up quickly during high-traffic times, so book as soon as possible. Some restaurants will require that you pay for your meal when you reserve, but if you have to cancel later, they'll give you a refund.
FastPass+
Your FastPass+ is your get-out-of-line free card for each park, so use them wisely. Each member of your group can book up to three Fastpass+ credits for each day, so you'll want to get the most out of them. Do some research into what rides and attractions are can't-misses for your group, prioritizing Fastpass+ for those with the longest lines. Then, try to book them as early as you can (30 days in advance, or 60 days for those staying at a resort hotel). The most popular rides and character meetings book up quickly, so mark your calendar.
Be sure to read the FastPass+ fine print, as some of the parks (such as Epcot) have tiered systems that restrict the use of more than one Fastpass+ in a top tier (you will have to choose between Frozen Ever After and Soarin'), whereas others (like Animal Kingdom) may make you choose between certain high-demand rides (such as Avatar Flight of Passage and Na'vi River Journey).
Also, be aware of the times you're booking for your FastPass+ credits, as well. Once you use all three FastPass+ in one day, you'll be able to book more while you're in the park, which means that if all your reservations are scheduled before early afternoon, you'll have plenty of time to score a couple more. However, mornings (usually before 11 a.m.) are the slowest time at the parks, so arrive early enough (take advantage of Extra Magic Hours if you're staying on the property), and you might be able to get on your favorite rides without waiting in line anyway. Strategy is key.
My Secret to a Great Marriage? Travel Without Your Kids
Marriage advice. I don't like people dishing it out. No relationship is like the other, so how could advice be applicable to everyone? But I'm going to break my own rule and say something more couples need to hear: you and your partner should go away every year without your kids. It may sound like an obvious suggestion, but you'd be surprised how many couples have never been away from their kids . . . like, ever. Constantly being together isn't healthy for anyone, including your kids. Here are my top five reasons traveling with only your partner is often the difference between a mundane marriage and an "I want what that couple has" marriage.
1. Sex.
The difference between a partner and a friend is this. And if there's one area of marriage that tends to suffer the most after kids, it's sex. Whether it's because of postpartum body changes, mind-numbing exhaustion, hormone changes resulting in less drive, or babies and toddlers in your bed, sex becomes, well, a little less sexy. But you know what can really help solve this? A hotel room, a tropical climate backdrop, and the notion that the only thing on the agenda for the next few days is drinking wine, eating decadent food, talking without interruption, and having nobody else to tend to (read: no vomit to clean). It's amazing how easy it is to slip back into the mindset of, "Oh my God, I'm actually attracted to my partner," because the daily grind can easily blur that.
2. Conversations that don't focus on your kids.
You occasionally sneak in snippets of your days to each other in between bedtime routines and couch pow-wows while watching Netflix, but you've really only scratched the surface (if you were listening that intently to begin with). Going out for date nights is a good start, but, in my opinion, it takes a few days away to properly remember that you two are people outside of kids. When my husband and I go away, we talk about the kids constantly for the first 36 hours, and then all of a sudden, we forget. And it's glorious. The health of the family is only as strong as the parental unit, no matter what that looks like, and when my husband and I aren't having meaningful conversations that don't involve our kids, I find that our overall family health suffers.
3. Exploring new things.
Remember when you first met and everything was exciting? And everything they said was funny, witty, and clever? Tack on a few years of marriage, general life stress, and a bunch of kids, and that excitement dissipates. When you travel to a new place with only your partner, suddenly everything (even mundane activities) becomes just a touch more exciting. And yes, it's fun to travel as a family and explore, which you should do often, but it's really fun to explore with only your partner. You might even remember why you married them in the first place or, at the very least, laugh (even if only occasionally) at their jokes again.
4. Your kids are better for it.
I realize that to even have the opportunity to get away for a week or a few days with only your partner requires a certain village of love surrounding you. But I'm willing to bet your parents, siblings, close friends, nanny, in-laws, etc. have a vested interest in the health of your marriage. People who love you want to help, and I don't know many grandparents who aren't clamoring for more undivided grandchild time. My mom says she now understands the reason for having kids is "to get to the grandkids" (thanks, Mom). But in all seriousness, you leaving your kids for a few days and having them live their best life with other people who love and care for them is a great experience for them as well.
5. Travel is good for the soul.
When we stay in our own bubbles, it's easy to forget there's a whole world out there full of different people, different perspectives, and beautiful ideas worth seeing and knowing about. When you travel and can be fully present without a bunch of kids tugging on your leg, you allow yourself the capacity to invite new experiences into your life, which you then take back home.
So, there you have it. The only marriage advice I will ever dish out. Every time my husband and I get away together without our kids, we come back appreciative, grateful, reenergized, and excited to reenter our blissful chaos with our kids. We make a point to get away for at least four days every year, just us. We don't have a perfect marriage, but I dare say we have a really great one. And I definitely think it's because we prioritize and value our time just as much as family time.
Help, I Can't Unsee These Photos of Trump's Combover Blowing in the Wind
During these trying times that make me question my American citizenship and overall faith in humanity, I'm always looking for sources of good ol' comedic relief. Yesterday, that came in the form of memes related to the viral "Walmart yodel kid," and today, my daily dose of chuckles was brought forth by none other than our president - specifically, his mesmerizing hair.
Before jetting off to West Virginia on April 5, Donald Trump boarded Air Force One (or shall I say Hair Force One?), and was accompanied by some very, very strong gusts of wind, courtesy of the aircraft. These gusts were so mighty, in fact, that they nearly dismantled Trump's presidential toupee for good. But alas, his blond strands clung for dear life and defied gravity above his scalp. The whole thing made for quite the hysterical photo opp, and the video footage is just as captivating.

I'm sorry, but I can't help but chuckle at this, and I know I'm not the only one who finds humor in Trump's unruly 'do. Read on to admire POTUS's windblown combover, and keep reading to see some of the best Twitter reactions to its near-death experience. Cue the angry Trump tweets about these photos being "fake news" in 3, 2, 1 . . .
4 Dreamers Remember the Moment They Learned They Were Undocumented
While many recipients of DACA - who are known as Dreamers - grow up in the US fully aware they are undocumented, that's not the case for everyone. In fact, some Dreamers had little to no knowledge that they came into the country illegally until one jarring moment revealed the truth. Some lived their young lives thinking their future held the same opportunities as their classmates' and friends' - only to find out later that their paths would be uncertain.
The Development, Relief, and Education For Alien Minors Act, or Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals, has been in limbo since the Trump administration announced its plans to rescind the program in September 2017. DACA was first established as an executive order by then-President Barack Obama in 2012; it allows protections for recipients under the age of 31 who were brought into the country illegally before their 16th birthday.
While the Supreme Court did buy DACA recipients some more time with its decision to not hear arguments from Congress on the program's future - therefore allowing DACA to continue - the ongoing debate over immigration still leaves many Dreamers uncertain and fearing the worst.
POPSUGAR spoke to Dreamers who still remember clearly the surprise and dread they felt when they discovered they were undocumented. Here are their stories.
How to Get Rid of Weeds Once and For All - Without Ruining Your Lawn
The battle for weed-free grass is something almost every homeowner will deal with at some point. Weeds like crab grass, dandelions, ivy, clover, bluegrass, and chickweed are some of the most common culprits when it comes to sullying the appearance of a perfectly manicured lawn. While some accept weeds as a fact of life or opt for grass alternatives, others will try whatever they can to get rid of those unwanted plants. Luckily, it's not quite as hard as you think. Try some of these preemptive tips and suggestions for regular maintenance, and look forward to a lawn that all of your neighbors will envy!
1. Apply Corn Gluten Meal
There are nontoxic products that you can use on your grass that work just as well as herbicides, and the best is corn gluten meal. Corn gluten meal is great for your grass because it contains nitrogen, and it also prevents the seeds from weeds from germinating. You shouldn't use it if you've planted seeds you want to keep, though, as it can have an adverse effect on these as well. It's best to use corn gluten meal early in the Spring before you see weeds. Applying it to already-established weeds will just be feeding them and can make your problem worse.
2. Lay Down Mulch
One of the best ways to get rid of weeds is to prevent them from taking root in the first place. Weeds can get out of hand pretty quickly, so it's important to do everything you can to keep them from invading your yard. For flower beds, patios, and walkways, you can apply mulch to the top of your soil. Mulch prevents weeds from getting the sunlight they need to grow, so they can't start to grow.
3. Pull Weeds by Hand
Sometimes, the best way to get rid of weeds is to pull them out by hand. While this is not a great solution for a weed problem that's gotten a little out of hand, it is a good - and effective - solution if you've just started to notice weeds popping up in your grass. Always make sure you grab the weeds at the base of the plant so you can make sure you pull up the roots as well. You can also purchase a stand-up weeder to make the job easier on your back and legs.
4. Use the Right Amount of Fertilizer
If you don't fertilize your grass, it's time to start. Fertilizer is essentially food for your grass, and it provides it with all of the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. While it may seem counterintuitive, fertilizer can be a great way to curb a weed problem; the trick is to make sure you're using the right amount. Too much fertilizer can encourage weed growth and send them into overdrive, whereas not enough fertilizer will make your grass too weak to stand up to weeds. The best defense against most types of weeds is a thick lawn to ensure there's no room for them to take root.
5. Water Your Lawn Deeply
One of the biggest mistakes gardeners and homeowners make is how much they water their lawns and flowers beds, and this can have a big effect on your weed situation. Instead of watering lightly and frequently, it's best to water your grass deeply and not too often. This kind of watering schedule will allow your grass's roots to take hold, letting them grow strong and healthy. Strong and healthy grass means it can compete better with weeds.
6. Mow Your Lawn High
Regularly mowing your lawn is essential to keeping your lawn healthy, and it can also prevent weeds from growing and getting stronger. Even if your lawn has been cut recently, you can adjust your lawnmower to a higher setting if you're noticing weeds appearing. Run your lawnmower over these weedy spots on a setting that's high enough to leave your grass relatively untouched but low enough that it decapitates the unwanted weeds. If you do this regularly, eventually the weeds will stop coming back and they'll die off. Keeping your lawn high can also prevent weeds like crabgrass from taking hold.
7. Use Weed-Specific Herbicides
If you want to go the herbicide route for your weed problem, it's important that you do your research before you buy any herbicides. Herbicides are designed to target specific plants, and if you don't buy the right one, you could damage your grass without having any effect on the weeds. There are a wide range of weeds, so make sure you identify which weeds you have and choose an appropriate herbicide to combat your problem.
What It's Really Like to Work as Emirates Cabin Crew, From a Former Employee
When I was growing up, I never dreamed of becoming a member of a cabin crew. However, I always dreamed of traveling to faraway places all over the world - and that is what led me to join Emirates Airline in 2012. When I got my confirmation call, I was ecstatic; I was going to live in Dubai and get to travel the world for free! I also had major travel anxiety about moving 7,000 miles away from everything I knew. But after a couple reassuring talks with my friends and family, I realized nothing was going to stop me from seeing the world. So, in October 2012, I headed to JFK Airport in New York City with a one-way ticket to Dubai.
As I said goodbye to my family, I could feel tears welling up in my eyes. I took a deep breath, quickly said goodbye, and headed toward security. The next hours were a complete whirlwind. I boarded the A380 double-decker plane, which was by far the largest aircraft I had ever been on in my life. After I told one of the crew I was a new joiner, he showed me all around the plane and introduced me to the other crew. All my fears disappeared; I immediately felt like being part of a family. After landing, I was brought to my furnished, paid apartment right in the heart of downtown Dubai.
Just three days later, my six-week training course with new joiners from all around the world started. My training covered everything from safety and emergency procedures to image standards. After those intense six weeks, I finally received what I was waiting for: my very first roster. It consisted of different layover destinations (where we stayed in a hotel), as well as turnaround destinations (a one-day round trip from Dubai). My first roster was full of places I could not wait to explore.
My First Ultralong-Haul Flight: Dubai - Melbourne - Auckland
I was so happy to see a six-day Melbourne-Auckland trip show up on my first roster. This trip was broken down into smaller segments: Dubai to Melbourne (24-hour layover in Melbourne), Melbourne to Auckland (24-hour layover in Auckland), Auckland to Melbourne (24-hour layover in Melbourne), and Melbourne to Dubai.
On the day of my flight, I woke up at 6 a.m. (for a 10 a.m. departure) and started my routine. Since the flight to Melbourne was so long, I made sure to apply everything as perfectly as I could. I put on my full face of makeup and tied my hair into a neat doughnut bun. I then grabbed my suitcase and headed to the shuttle that brought me to Emirates headquarters.
On the way to the airport, I felt a mixture of emotions; on one hand, I was so nervous because I was still completely new, but on the other hand, I was so excited about traveling to countries I always dreamed of going to. "Fake it till you make it," I told myself and went to my preflight briefing room.
The preflight briefing room was buzzing with energy. We were flying on the A380 plane, so there were over 20 crew members in the room. I got my documents checked by one of the senior crew members. After this came the moment I was dreading: a "Safe Talk" question. This is a question asked by the purser (the manager) of the plane and it's required to be answered by each cabin crew member. Not answering the question correctly could lead to getting offloaded (which meant getting taken off the flight and reported to your manager), a fate no new cabin crew member wanted. These questions were directly related to what we learned in our training, but there was still so much to remember. On that day, I answered the question correctly and felt a weight off my shoulders disappear.
Finally, I went to get my image and uniform checked by another one of the senior cabin crew member. This part of the process always made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
I felt like a doll on display for someone as they went through their checklist looking for the following: that my nails were of the right length and color (either clear or red), that my hair and makeup were up to standards, that my uniform was in perfect condition, and my tights were of the right opacity and color.
I felt like a doll on display for someone as they went through their checklist looking for the following: that my nails were of the right length and color (either clear or red), that my hair and makeup were up to standards, that my uniform was in perfect condition, and my tights were of the right opacity and color. The standards were meticulous; even the slightest difference meant getting a note about it on your flight review. That's why on my first few flights I always made sure to take extra time getting ready.
After all my fellow crew went through this process, we sat down and were briefed on our upcoming flight. Once finished, we got into a shuttle that brought us to the aircraft.
Seeing the A380 without passengers made me realize how huge the plane was. There were over 400 seats in economy and two galleys (kitchen and storage area) for us to use. I went to my station, dropped off my carry-on bag, and got straight to work. First came doing safety and security checks in my designated area. Then I had to prepare the cabin and hot towels for when our passengers got on board.
At 9 a.m., it was showtime. All the passengers started rushing onto the plane. I was happy to be in the back of the plane, where it was calmer than in the front. Once everyone was on board, we handed out towels to our passengers. Then we prepared the cabin by conducting our final safety and security check. I sat down on my jump seat and prepared for takeoff.
The flight to Melbourne was hectic; it was over 13 hours with nonstop work. There were three different services, and since I was still so new I was confused half the time. I barely had time to breathe. Even after we finished our service, the call bells were ringing every other second. I must have walked several miles on that flight going back and forth from the front of the aircraft to the back. We had a short break of about three hours, but I had so many thoughts rushing through my mind I couldn't sleep.
Before I knew it, I could see Australia from outside the window. I couldn't believe that those 13 hours had passed so quickly. After landing and getting to the hotel, my adrenaline kicked in. I had been up for almost 20 hours but it didn't feel like it. I rushed out of the hotel with some of the other new crew and explored Melbourne. The next day my wake-up call came and I repeated my same routine. Then it was off to Auckland.
My first months of flying were amazing - nothing I had done previously in my life could compare. All the new experiences outweighed any negative side of the job. But, eventually for me, that scale tipped the other way.
Saying Goodbye to Emirates
Whenever I posted photos to Facebook of all my amazing trips, my friends would comment telling me how envious they were of me or how glamorous my life looked. While it was true that I lived an exciting life, it was far from being nearly as glamorous as people thought.
There were so many advantages of working for Emirates: living in Dubai for free, staying in amazing hotels across the world, traveling on your days off while only having to pay 10 percent of the airfare, having friends from all over the world, and having a tax-free salary.
While it was true that I lived an exciting life, it was far from being nearly as glamorous as people thought.
But there were also so many disadvantages: being away from family and friends, missing holidays, feeling lonely, dealing with jet lag and health issues, having passengers yell at you for things out of your control, being looked at all the time for your appearance, dealing with delays on flights, waking up at any hour during the day or night for flights, and so much more.
There came a day when the disadvantages outweighed the advantages for me, and that's when I decided to leave Emirates. When I first left, I felt so happy to be on ground all the time and sleep normal hours again. Eventually, I did start to miss many things about being crew. It wasn't really the travel I missed; it was the sense of camaraderie I felt with the crew. I missed being so tired on long-haul flights that we'd all sit around in the galley deliriously giggling and telling jokes to stay awake. I missed hearing stories about the life and culture in different places around the world. Most of all I missed the sense of family I felt with crew.
I'm so glad that I took the chance to work as cabin crew. It changed my life in so many ways and gave me a new sense of confidence in myself. I'm happier being on ground now, but whenever I see a plane flying above me, I always wonder what kind of interesting things are happening at 38,000 feet.

Trying to Lose Belly Fat? Drop Everything and Listen to This Tip From Jillian Michaels
Slimming down your midsection can feel impossible sometimes, which is why tips to reduce excess fat around our belly remain such a popular search. Jillian Michaels, celebrity trainer and creator of the app My Fitness by Jillian Michaels, has probably been asked countless times how to get rid of belly fat. Which is why she wants you to really listen to her answer.
"You can't spot-reduce fat," Jillian told POPSUGAR. "You have to engage in habits that are metabolic overall to reduce body fat anywhere on the body." That means doing endless crunches or two-minute planks won't get you the results you're looking for.
Jillian said "you must count calories" in order to see a difference around your midsection. "Fat is stored energy, and calories are units of energy. Eat too many calories, and you store them as fat," she explained. "To lose fat, you must burn stored calories. Therefore, eating [healthy] and training for calorie burn are the keys to losing belly fat."
What does it mean to train "for calorie burn"? Jillian said HIIT intervals, weightlifting, and circuit training are your best bets. This allows you to get the most bang for your buck, so you'll burn more calories in the long run. This kind of training is much more effective than doing isolated ab exercises or simply doing endless cardio.
"This is why my workouts are designed the way they are, and why my app also incorporates completely custom meal plans," Jillian said. No matter what you decide to do, just remember that getting rid of belly fat is about everything - what you eat and how you exercise - so give up those crunches and let's get to work!

Sweat Without Staying Wet in These Fab Moisture-Wicking Workout Clothes
There is nothing worse than working up an absolute sweat at the gym or in your favorite workout class only to have to deal with wet, sticky clothes afterward. Moisture-wicking and sweat-proof gear has become more common for gym rats and casual gym-hitters alike as it proves to be all sorts of comfortable. But no matter if your clothes are sweat-wicking, sweat-proof, or any variation of the fabric, don't forget to change your clothes ASAP after working out. Sweaty clothes can put you at risk for irritant rashes, acne/folliculitis, and a bacterial or yeast infection, according to medical professionals.
Check out some of the sweat-absorbing workout clothes that can make you sweat (without it showing!) from head to toe and look stylish while you do it.
