I Stopped Eating This 1 Food, and My Acne Cleared Up Instantly

I'll never forget when I was babysitting one day after college and the tiny 1-year-old pointed to a monstrosity of a zit on my chin. I tried to ignore her and distract her with a toy, but she kept pointing. The mother looked at me sympathetically and just said, "Yep, she has a boo-boo."

At that point, it had been well over 10 years since I had experienced bad breakouts. I didn't have terrible acne that covered my face, but my issue was that I always had a few enormous, Rudolf-the-red-nosed-reindeer types of pimples that were deep, painful, and red. There was never a moment when I was zit-free; when one was going away, another few were popping up.

I was so self-conscious because it continued into my 30s. I saw a dermatologist, determined to clear my skin before my wedding day in August 2008, but the harsh topical medications only made my skin red and irritated, and my skin didn't clear up at all. Into my mid to late 30s, my two pregnancies did help a little (thank you, hormones!), but after each baby was born, the acne would return. I was now 40 years old and still breaking out.

How I Cured My Acne

It wasn't until January 2017, when I gave up sugar for a month for my New Year's resolution, that I experienced soft, clear skin for the first time. I actually gave up sugar not for my skin (I didn't know it would help), but as a personal experiment to heal the belly bloat I had been experiencing for six months that my doctor couldn't figure out.

I not only felt better after the second week, feeling zero bloat and digestive issues, but the acne I've had on my chin since I was 12 years old disappeared. I kept looking in the mirror, waiting for a pimple to pop up, but my skin stayed clear for the rest of the month.

Was This Really the Answer?

After the month was up, I celebrated by splurging on homemade chocolate chip cookies. I mean, living without cake, brownies, ice cream, and chocolate for 30 days was tough. After a week of eating a little white sugar every day, my stomach waged war, and sure enough, so did my face.

I was so happy . . . and also pissed. I couldn't believe I found the one thing to heal my skin and prevent embarrassing breakouts and that it was so simple, but the cure really sucked! No sugar? No ordering dessert after dinner? No more baking? No more chocolate?!

How I Live With the Cure

Because I'm human - and my last name is Sugar - living 100 percent without treats really wasn't an option. I found ways to get my sweet fix without it affecting my face (or my stomach). I discovered how to bake with bananas and dates, making desserts that are just as sweet as using white sugar, and I can still get my chocolate fix by using cocoa powder in recipes. Ice cream is easy - I just make nice cream using frozen fruit.

Honestly, sugary treats just don't feel worth it anymore when they affect me so negatively. Even though I'm tempted when I see people enjoying cake at parties or eating pastries at coffee shops, I get over it real quick because I'm grateful that I've found the one food I can avoid that makes me look and feel healthy. That's not to say I never eat sugar ever. I do enjoy a couple bites every so often (and love every second), but I know how bad I'll feel if I eat a ton, and that prevents me from going overboard.

I wish I knew about this in junior high, because it would have saved me decades of feeling badly about my skin. If you suffer from acne and medications and other treatments haven't worked, sugar may be your issue, too. Wouldn't it be amazing if curing your acne was this simple? You'll never know unless you try. What have you got to lose?

Riverdale's Lili Reinhart Opens Up About Mental Health and Body Positivity

We can always count on Riverdale's Lili Reinhart to keep it real. The 21-year-old actress opened up to Harper's Bazaar about becoming an advocate for body positivity and mental health awareness. Since she was 16, Lili's struggled with low self-esteem, but she's come to accept that there will always be something to pick at.

"I'm not that flawless-image person. I could never live up to that. I'm not going to make people think I'm this airbrushed version of myself. There are lots of versions of me," she said. "My hair looks like shit most of the time. It looks great when I'm on a carpet, sure, but that's not the only side I want people to see of myself."

Because it's important to her to be authentic, Lili has been also been very open about depression, which she was diagnosed with at 14. "Let's talk about [depression] like it actually is. It's a very real thing, a day-to-day thing, not just you sitting in a dark room alone. It's something that comes in all shapes and colors and all different scenarios, all different types of people," she said. "When I do conventions, and I can meet fans one on one, they tell me, 'You speaking about mental health has really helped me a lot.' It's very surreal."

I Stopped Taking Probiotics For 2 Weeks, and This is What Happened

To combat belly bloat, I have a few things in my arsenal, including drinking tons of water (close to a gallon a day), limiting my sugar and refined carb intake, getting my fill of fiber every day, and daily intermittent fasting. I also take probiotics every day, as recommended by my doctor who I saw when I was having extreme tummy issues about two years ago.

I pop one probiotic every day and have gotten into the habit of taking it with my lunch. I'm a fan of Ultimate Flora, either the 50 or 30 billion. I love that I can travel with them because they don't need to be refrigerated.

Why I Stopped For 2 Weeks

Combining all these things has helped me finally feel like I have control over preventing my belly bloat. It's an amazing feeling. Until one day, when I didn't feel so amazing. That's when I realized I hadn't taken a probiotic in two weeks. Why? It wasn't a glamorous reason - I ran out. I was getting ready for a trip and when I went to pack my probiotics, I realized I was down to my last pill, and I had forgotten to pick up a bottle.

What Happened?

When I got back from traveling for a few days, I actually felt fine, so I put off getting more. Maybe it was a waste of money, and I could save the $28 a month (that's $336 a year!) for something else (more fitness gear, please!). Maybe the other debloating techniques I was doing daily were enough.

After about seven days, my stomach started to feel off. I had been eating less healthy than usual with the warmer weather - lots of vegan ice cream, dinners out, s'mores by the campfire - so I just thought I felt crappy because of that. After a few days of cleaning up my diet, I actually didn't feel any better; I felt worse.

It had now been almost two weeks without taking probiotics, and every day I felt a little more bloated and gassy. By the end of two weeks, I was uncomfortably bloated and had a hard time sleeping because of gas pains. I was shocked. The only thing I had really changed was not taking probiotics, so could that be the reason? I hopped in my car and picked up a bottle to find out.

Now What?

After just five days of taking my beloved probiotics, I started to feel more like myself again. My belly was less puffy, it felt less gurgly, and my digestive system was - ahem - becoming more regular. I couldn't believe one tiny little pill had this much impact on how my belly felt.

For me, taking probiotics regularly definitely makes a huge difference. I aim to take them daily, but found that I'm OK if I skip three or four days - if I go any longer, my belly begins to suffer. Because I know now probiotics definitely do what they say they do, I always keep a new bottle on hand to avoid another unplanned probiotic break.

You Will Love This Guide on How Tennis Scoring Works

If you've tuned in to Wimbledon to catch the action but are feeling a little confused by what's happening on the court, don't fret. Tennis scoring can seem complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll feel like a seasoned fan. Here's a primer on scoring as the tournament heads toward the finals - so you can keep up with the matches!

The Framework

  • Each tennis match is made up of two to three sets. To win a set, you must win at least six games.
  • The games are scored starting at "love" (or zero) and go up to 40, but that's actually just four points. From love, the first point is 15, then 30, then 40, then game point, which wins the game.

Starting the Game

  • To determine who serves first, you flip a coin or (more likely) spin a racket. Whoever wins the toss gets to decide one of four things: that she wants to serve first, that she wants to receive first, which side of the court she wants to start on (in which case, the opponent chooses who serves first), or that she wants to leave the choices up to her opponent.
  • Whoever starts serving continues to serve until that game is over. Then the serve moves to the other player.
  • You serve from behind the baseline, starting on the right-hand side of the court, anywhere between the singles sideline and the center mark on the court.

Scoring the Game

  • Before serving, you should announce the score, with your score first, then your opponent's. So if you have zero and your opponent has 30, say "love-30."
  • Every time you serve, you get two tries. The serve must go over the net, land in the service box opposite you, and bounce once before your opponent returns it.
  • If it doesn't land in the service box, you take a second serve. If the second serve also misses, then you lose the point.
  • If your serve grazes the net but still lands in the service box, the serve doesn't count, and you must take that serve over. This is called a "let."
  • If your serve goes in and the opponent returns it, you continue hitting back and forth until someone hits the ball into the net, hits it out of bounds, or misses a shot. If that person is you, then your opponent gets a point. If it's your opponent who hits it into the net/hits it out of bounds/misses a shot, then you get the point.
  • Whoever is serving continues serving until the score reaches 40, calling out the score before every serve.
  • If the score is tied at 40 ("40-all"), that is "deuce," which is essentially another word for tie. To break the tie, someone must win two points in a row. If you are serving at deuce and you win the next point, then you say "my ad," which means "my advantage." If your opponent wins, it goes back to deuce, and someone again must win by two points in a row. Yes, this could go on forever.
  • Once the game is over, the other person serves. After odd-numbered games (so after game one, game three, game five) you switch sides on the court.

Scoring a Set

  • Before the first serve in each new game, whoever is serving announces the score in sets. Say your score first, then your opponent's. So if you won the first set, you would say "1-0."
  • To complete a set, someone must win six games; the first person to win six games wins the set.
  • However, as with "deuce," you must win a set by at least two games. So, if the score is 6-5, the person with 5 must win by two games. If the score ties at 6-6, you play a tiebreaker.

Scoring the Match

  • The whole shebang is called a match. The match is determined by the best two out of three sets. So if you win two sets, you win. If you each win a set, then you play a third set to determine the winner.

You Need to Add This Water Bottle Cleaning Brush to Your Amazon Cart ASAP

If you've handwashed and dish-washed your water bottles and still can't rid their stale orders, I'm about to change your life right now. I struggled with the same problem and even considered tossing my favorite bottles at one point. No sponge was able to fit past the opening, preventing a deep clean my bottles so desperately needed. Baking soda rinse? Still cloudy.

So, I looked to Amazon to find a brush that was designed just for this job. I finally landed on a long-bottle brush by Alink ($8), which promised to clean beer, wine, and sports bottles, baby bottles, vases, teapots, tumblers, thermos, and beyond. With a four-and-a-half-star rating, I added it to my cart immediately.

Let me tell you: my bottles are squeaky freaking clean, and most importantly, odor free! The 16-inch brush is the perfect size for my 25-ounce S'well bottle and 17-ounce Soma bottle. And its bristles truly reach every crevice, thanks to the bendable handle.

If you only rinse your bottles or throw them inside the dishwasher, I can almost promise you that they're not as sanitary as you think they are. Think about it: they're constantly wet, making them a breeding ground for bacteria. Do yourself a favor, and get one of these cleaning brushes ASAP - seriously.

Why Sarah Hyland's No-Makeup Selfie Has Everyone Talking

Sarah Hyland is no stranger to getting glammed. The Modern Family actress pulls off bold lipstick oh so well and constantly surprises us on the red carpet. But that doesn't mean she doesn't also keep it real. So in the spirit of #nomakeupmonday, Hyland took to Instagram to share a photo of her face with not a drop of makeup in sight. She captioned the image, "Monday Mantra: Be patient. Be kind. Be free. Don't stress. Don't overthink. Don't worry. Just be. #nomakeupmonday #theresnofilterforlife." (Can we get an Amen?) Fans flooded her comments section with positive messages, and the overwhelmingly positive response to Hyland's photo is refreshing in an age where many people are still getting shamed for embracing their bare faces. We hope her #nomakeupmonday snap can inspire more people to feel confident in their own skin.

The Empowering Reason This Stila Lipstick Shade Is Selling Out

On June 26, 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old candidate for New York's 14th Congressional District, defeated 10-term incumbent Representative Joseph Crowley. Many are calling the election a shocking political upset; if the Bronx-born Latina woman beats Republican candidate Anthony Pappas in the November midterm, she'll be the youngest woman ever elected to the House of Representatives. We're still not over the candidate's impressive victory, but Twitter added just one more reason to root for Ocasio-Cortez: her lipstick of choice. The candidate just revealed the exact lipstick shade she wore to the Democratic Primary Debate, and it's a classic power red with historical significance.

The politician took to Twitter to answer the "many inquiries" she received on her preferred color. "I GOT YOU," she wrote, adding that it's none other than Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso ($22). It's hard to not find some symbolism in the brick red shade, as suffragettes in the early 1900s wore the hue while protesting for women's right to vote. In 1912, the real-life Elizabeth Arden even handed out a similar lipstick to NYC marchers as a token of unity.

Soon after Ocasio-Cortez revealed her scoop, Beso sold out on Sephora. (It's still available at other retailers like Nordstrom and Stila's own site.) There's undoubtedly more to focus on than Ocasio-Cortez's makeup preferences - her platform supports Medicare for all, abolishing ICE, expanding LGBTQ+ rights, and creating an assault weapons ban - but it's empowering to see her repping such a storied lipstick color. Just as marching suffragettes united in the hue 106 years ago, women have responded to the original tweet in solidarity.

Drunk Elephant Is All Over Instagram Right Now - but Is It Worth the Splurge?

Whenever I'm chatting with friends about beauty products, the one buzzy brand I always get asked about is Drunk Elephant. The white, brightly packaged bottles are all over Instagram right now and light up the skincare aisle at Sephora, but the hefty price tag has caused some people to ask if the formulas are really worth the cost. In my humble opinion, when it comes to a majority of the products, the answer is yes. I've tried almost every product in the line and have been superimpressed with the results. The brand only uses ingredients backed by scientific research to improve the skin, which makes the splurge a little easier to justify. While the products are an investment, there are at least five products that are worth throwing down the cash for. Check them out, ahead.

Read This Before You Cut Your Own Bangs

Bangs are a vampy, sultry look - until your fringe gets too long, covers your eyes, and leaves you walking with your chin up just so you can see the sidewalk. It might be emotionally exhausting to think about picking up your phone, calling the salon, and scheduling a pricey appointment just to keep your bangs in check. (We're all flaky people who hate planning ahead, it's OK.) While there is another solution, it might be just as anxiety-inducing, especially if you're a cup-a-day coffee drinker whose hands are prone to shaking. That's right, you can bust out the scissors yourself. Terrified? Don't be. We enlisted two top hairstylists to tell us how it's done.

Do the Prepwork

It's important that you cut your bangs while your hair is dry. Why? "Your hair is longer when it's wet," said Nicole Leal, the director of education for LA's Nine Zero One Salon. "If you don't wait until your hair is dry, you could overdo it and cut off too much."

While you should only ever use hair scissors on your precious bangs (put down the pair you use for wrapping paper!), you don't have to splurge. "Any scissors you get from a beauty supply store will do," Leal said. "They don't have to be expensive. Just make sure you get a pair that's meant for hair." (If you need any inspiration, Tweezerman sells $15 sheers.)

Cut Right to It

"Don't take off more than half an inch of hair to start"

According to Leal, "It's easiest to cut a piece-y curtain bang." Start by taking the middle, shorter section of your bangs in your hand, then pulling the ends all together. Chris Naselli, a celebrity hairstylist and owner of NYC's Naselli & Co, said to point cut the ends of this section, which means snip it all with your scissors facing up. This works to give your ends some texture. You should hold the tip of your tools at about a 45-degree angle away from your face to avoid any eye-poking horror stories. (Sorry we had to give you that image.)

If you like a more blunt bang, hold a fine-tooth comb such as this Conair option ($6) right under your fringe to guide your scissors. Hold your scissors horizontally to keep the ends uniform.

With either option, remember to go slowly, and don't take off too much. "You can always cut more later," Neal said. "Don't take off more than half an inch of hair to start."

Cross-Check Your Work

While you may be satisfied after you finish, you should double check. So immediately after you stop cutting, jump in the shower, shampoo, condition, then give yourself a blowout. Once you're done, give your new bangs another once-over. You might notice that after styling, your fringe doesn't look like you did after you cut it - perhaps the hair is curling underneath itself, or looking uneven. "The hair will adjust to the cut once you style it," Leal explained. "It's almost like it knows it's been cut, so it changes. In that case, take the scissors back out, and start again. Be patient - we promise the end result (and brownie points you get for DIY-ing things) will be worth it.

I Have Worn the Same $3 Liquid Eyeliner For 10 Years, and It Gets Me So Many Compliments

I'm a girl who likes to wear a sharp, inky-black cat eye on the regular. There's something about it that makes me feel both powerful and glamorous, so I have made it my go-to look since my teenage years. Time after time, friends, coworkers, and strangers have asked me the same question: "What eyeliner do you use?" There's nothing that brings me more joy than smugly telling them it's a $3 pick from the drugstore. Yes, I have been religiously swiping Wet n Wild MegaLiner Liquid Eyeliner on my lids for 10 years now, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Before you become skeptical, know that I have tried my fair share of liquid liners. I am always curious to see if any high-end or drugstore brands can match the quality of my Wet n Wild pick, but they never do. MegaLiner Liquid Eyeliner comes in a small tube with a screw-top handle. The applicator, a flexible spongy brush, is easy to maneuver as I glide it across my skin. The harder you press, the thicker the line becomes, so you have a lot of control over the intensity of your look. The formula itself is smooth and matte. Its raven-black shade makes my blue eyes pop. All it takes is one coat to get a pleasing obsidian-dark effect.

For me, pen-tip applicators and pots with angle brushes don't give me the razor-sharp line I'm looking for. Only MegaLiner provides me with that smooth edge - I won't accept anything less. What can I say, a good cat eye has become a passion. It's time to set down your pricey choice and give my favorite a try. I can confidently promise you that it won't disappoint.

Let's be real, a $3 purchase is not a big risk to take. Even better - it's currently on sale for $2. I keep one in every purse I own. Read on to see close-ups of the liner itself and how it looks once it's applied.

Disney World FINALLY Has Mickey Beignets - and You Can Get Them in Sundae Form

While there are many benefits to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, one of the most consistent arguments for Disneyland's superiority is its Mickey Mouse-shaped beignets. The pillowy, deep-fried snack is shaped into the iconic mouse ears and dusted with powdered sugar, and until recently, you could only find it at Disneyland's Mint Julep Bar or Cafe Orleans, or at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. But today we've got some great news for Floridians and Disney World enthusiasts: you can now get Mickey-shaped beignets at the Orlando resort!

According to the Disney Food Blog, the traditional puffed beignets from Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory in Disney World's Port Orleans have now transitioned into a Mickey shape. Park-goers can now pick up three beignets for $4 (with dipping sauces at an extra cost) or spring a bit extra for a $6 Mickey-shaped beignet sundae . . . for the curious, that's three piping-hot beignets topped with your choice of ice cream, sauce, and whipped cream. Yum!

Check out the decadent sundae and beignets ahead; you'll never feel overcome with jealousy of Disneyland visitors again. (That is, until you start looking at Disneyland-exclusive Starbucks mugs!)

These Wine Juice Boxes Are the Eco-Friendly Solution to That "No Glass on the Beach" Rule

Convenient (adjective): involving minimal trouble or effort; fitting in well with a person's needs, activities, and plans. Examples include: wine that's packaged in a lightweight paper carton instead of a breakable glass bottle, and, well, that's the only necessary example you really need to know about, TBH.

Now that we've gotten that quick vocabulary lesson out of the way, we're delighted to tell you a little about Bandit Wines, aka our latest obsession. The genius company is known for selling its wine in eco-friendly juice-box-esque containers that are reminiscent of those recyclable cartons your favorite coconut water comes in. The resealable wine vessels are perfect for many of our favorite Summer activities, including but not limited to:

  • Sneaking alcohol into the movie theater without the people in your row silently judging you as you pop a cork halfway through the endless previews.
  • Soaking up the sun on the beach while scamming your way around the "no glass allowed on the beach" law.
  • Similarly, catching some rays at a hotel pool and circumventing the "no glass on pool deck" rule.
  • Hiking in the mountains without a corkscrew in your backpack.
  • Enjoying a boozy picnic without watchful park patrols asking you to throw away your glass wine bottles.

Though Bandit has been around since 2003, we're somehow just now learning of its life-saving existence, and the discovery is making us even more excited to embark on our outdoor Summer adventures. The sippable boxes of vino come in seven flavor variations, including Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Rosé, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Red Blend, all of which are packaged in either 500-milliliter or one-liter cartons. That's a whole lot bigger than those Rosé wine pouches that went totally viral last year, and we all know that more really is more when it comes to wine.

You can either purchase Bandit Wines online if you're of legal drinking age or in one of the many grocery stores that carry it. Ahead, catch a glimpse of the portable wine containers in action . . . you'll certainly feel compelled to hop on the Bandit bandwagon.

These Straws Are Going to Change the Environment - and Your Life!

Single-use plastics contribute to 40 percent of ocean pollution, according to Greenpeace. What is a single-use plastic, you may ask? It's quite simply anything you use once and throw away. Think plastic cups, utensils, and straws. Many cities, including Miami Beach and Seattle, have banned single-use plastics for their negative effects on the environment.

Here's the thing, though. Drinking out of a straw is fun! So we found an amazing alternative, stainless steel straws ($9)! This set comes with four straight straws, four bent straws, and two straw cleaners so they don't get dirty. This is an amazing way to save the environment and still enjoy your Summer sangria! We're never going back to plastic straws.

Starbucks Can't Keep Its New Disneyland Haunted Mansion Mug in Stock

Out of Disney's handful of park-exclusive Starbucks mugs, the latest is hands down our favorite. Perfect for 999 happy haunts or a few shots of espresso, the most recent addition to the Starbucks "You Are Here" mug collection is themed around Disneyland's New Orleans Square . . . which means it highlights the best ride in the park, the Haunted Mansion, front and center. Plus, there's an homage to another iconic Disneyland attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean, on the other side of the mug. How could you resist adding this one to your Disney mug collection?

We Need to Talk About Disneyland's Magical Doughnut Selection, Y'all

If your doughnut doesn't inspire exclamations of envy from random passersby, is it really worth it? (Probably, because doughnuts are the freakin' best, but that doesn't serve to illustrate our point.) Thankfully, the fried, doughy rings of goodness at Disneyland are the best of the best. It wasn't until quite recently that Disney started offering doughnuts for hungry guests, but the addition to the resort's snack selection was an instant hit. As it turns out, nobody does doughnuts quite like the happiest place on earth!

You can find Disney doughnuts at several locations throughout the California resort: the Coffee Cart near Fantasy Faire on Disneyland's Main Street, Schmoozies in Disney's California Adventure, and the Disneyland Hotel Coffee Shop. Most items in Disney's impressive doughnut selection run about $6 per pop, but based on photos from contented park guests, they definitely seem worth the cost!

When we say Disneyland has every doughnut imaginable, we're talking everything from maple-bacon bars and Reese's peanut butter doughnuts to tropical fruit flavors topped with mini umbrellas. Don't believe us? Just check out these awe-inspiring confections found throughout the Disney parks. And yes, you have permission to drool.

Honestly, we feel calmer just thinking about an afternoon nap with that view! This Independence Day Wedding Rocks Its Subtle Theme

If you think that holiday-themed weddings are a joke, this Fourth of July celebration will definitely change your mind. Celeste and Mitch may have chosen to exchange vows on Independence Day, but their nuptials were not overshadowed by red, white, and blue. Instead of letting the day dominate the entire celebration, this couple chose a few tasteful, patriotic accents to incorporate into their wedding. The result? An absolutely stunning day with love at its forefront.

"They wanted to embrace the holiday, but not overdo it," explains Al Gawlik photographer Amy Lynn, "so they added touches of the American flag in their signature cocktail, toothpicks, and even a patriotic sendoff!" The bride and groom also included vintage elements in their nuptials, from antique silver tea sets to vintage Ferragamo shoes. Celeste even wore a hairpiece created with materials from her mother's wedding gown! Take a look at the gorgeous photos, and you'll realize that sweet touches and holiday themes can, in fact, make for a beautiful wedding.

30 Surreal Pictures of the San Francisco Sky After the Northern California Wildfires

On July 1, San Francisco residents woke up to an orange haze that enveloped the coastal city. The eerie weather event was the result of nearby wildfires in two Northern California counties in the days prior, which prompted evacuations locally and sent smoke down to San Francisco. Lake County and Yolo County, both a few hours away from San Francisco, experienced fast-moving wildfires due to rising temperatures, steady winds, and low humidity.

The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management reassured residents that air quality would be OK; however, the lingering smoke might affect "unusually sensitive people." Pictures of the orange sky were posted across the internet, with many making grim comparisons to Blade Runner 2049. Ahead, see several captivating pictures of the surreal sky on that day.

Is There a "Best" Time of Year to Travel With Kids? The Answer Will Make You Say, "Ugh, Figures"

It doesn't matter if you're traveling by train, plane, or automobile, vacations with children are anything but cheap. Going in the off seasons may save money, but it also has its downsides. Besides the problem of removing children from school, weather might be less than ideal and some activities geared toward children may be closed. Finding the "best" time to travel with children is more complicated than just nailing down a time of year.

After a long school year, Summer break is clearly the most desirable time to travel. But while it may be the best for scheduling, it's not necessarily the best time for your pocketbook. During the middle of Summer, some hotels and flights can be more than double their standard fare.

If summertime travels are your real goal, the closest you can get to the end and beginning of school (early June and late August) may be the best. At this time, hotels haven't reached their peak pricing and the weather is most likely going to be tolerable. While this may mean having to pack your suitcase the same day you're also unloading their backpacks, it could save you a ton of money.

Outside of the Summer months, the cheapest times to travel are January and February. Many kids have a break around Christmas, so it may line up that the time just after New Year's is the best time to fly. Yet that doesn't give families a lot of time, and thanks to a little thing called "snow," it limits where people want to travel.

At the end of the day, traveling with kids is going to require some flexibility. Finding long weekends in the off months can help save money but might have other complications. Picking the best time to travel for your family requires a balance of schedules, locations, cost, and weather. Of course, watching their faces explode with joy at seeing the beach for the first time or their favorite Disney characters makes it all worth it.

Prince Charles Wanted These Names For William and Harry, but Diana Called Them "Too Old"

Princess Diana and Prince Charles didn't agree on a lot of things during their tumultuous 10-year marriage, and, perhaps quite relatably, baby names was one of them. Like most expectant parents, Charles and Diana had different ideas about what to name their children, but unlike most expectant parents, they were obligated to give their offspring strong, regal names that would sound good with a king or queen title in front of them. The British nobility routinely follow tradition when it comes to picking out names for royal babies, often referencing monarchs of the past - which is why you'll see a number of Georges, Philips, Henrys, Elizabeths, and Victorias in the family tree.

When Diana gave birth to her first son in June 1982, he was given the name William Arthur Philip Louis; two years later, Prince Harry was christened Henry Charles Albert David. In a recorded interview that would go on to be published in the controversial 1992 book Diana: Her Story by Andrew Morton, Diana admitted that she picked the first names for both of her newborn sons after nixing the ones Charles had in mind. When asked, "Who chose [Harry's] name?," Diana said, "I did," adding, "I chose William and Harry, but Charles did the rest." She went on: "He wanted Albert and Arthur, and I said no. Too old!" She may have been on to something, but William could always choose a different regnal name when he becomes king - even Prince Charles, who was christened Charles Philip Arthur George, is expected to be known as King George VII when he takes the throne. William also paid homage to both of his parents with the names of his two children: George Alexander Louis and Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

Diana also revealed the heartbreaking comment that Charles made shortly after Harry's birth: "His first comment was, 'Oh God, it's a boy,'" Diana said. "His second: 'And he's even got red hair.'" Charles was vocal about his desire for a daughter and reportedly told Diana's mother at Harry's christening, "We were so disappointed - we thought it would be a girl." Wonder what names they would have picked out for a little princess?

Hannah Gadsby's Nanette Is a Study in Vulnerability, and Everyone Agrees It's a Must-See

Standup comedy can be a minefield during times of uncertainty and upheaval, but Hannah's Gadsby's Nanette is a masterpiece. The Netflix special is an hour of stark vulnerability, and dismantles the typical standup format as we know it.

Gadsby pulls absolutely no punches as she speaks to how comedy doesn't actually make the world better - though fans could argue that her special has changed them for the better - and changes mood with no warning; her tone goes from cheeky to somber in a hot second. But the hour of hard truths and Gadsby's retelling of trauma she's endured has inspired her viewers, and a reminder that the people who make us laugh are often the ones hiding an immense amount of pain.

It's no surprise that people have fallen in love with the extraordinary special, and the praise is enough motivation to convince anyone to check it out. Keep reading to see some of the most heartening reactions from Twitter and then watch Nanette, currently streaming on Netflix.

The Reason Andy Grammer Picked Up a Bill For 5 "Super Cute" Older Women Will Bring You to Tears

Over nine years ago, Andy Grammer lost his mom Kathy and has done so much to honor his late mother since then, including giving his daughter Louisiana the middle name "K." Recently, the singer, who said on Instagram on the nine-year anniversary of his mom's death that he attributes some of his success to her "pulling strings through the universe," was eating breakfast in Hampton Beach when he came across five "super cute" older women who reminded him of his mom.

"I don't know why but [they] made me miss my mom hard and I felt a strong urge to pick up their check," he wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of himself in which he appeared to be on the brink of sobbing. "I don't know them and didn't want to bother them, but I just did it."

The singer wrote that he thought about leaving afterward because he didn't do the deed for the acknowledgment, but something made him feel that they would like to hear that the reason he did it was simply because he missed his mom.

"So I walked over and said, 'You are five of the sweetest ladies I've ever seen; I lost my mom awhile back and something about seeing you made me miss her this morning, so I'm getting your check.' The lady on the end popped up with arms wide open and said 'COME HERE, I lost my son and really needed this.' And then she gave me a mom hug I needed and I gave her a son hug she needed. We are all so connected."

We're not even going to lie about it - we're totally crying.
