My Daughter Struggles With Self-Esteem, So I Do These 10 Things to Make Her Feel More Confident
Several years ago, my 5-year-old was in a very dark place in her life. At the time, she was having difficulty with school and she was in the process of being diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). She was suffering from depression, and it took a toll on her self-esteem. As you can imagine, it was heartbreaking for me to see my precious little girl in so much pain - pain that she couldn't explain and I couldn't understand.
While other kids her age were enjoying being carefree at the playground after school, my child was having a meltdown in the psychologist's office, screaming that she wished she was never born and that I deserved a better daughter. After many appointments with the psychologist, behavioral therapy, and countless sleepless nights just crying and praying for my little girl, she was finally able to beat her depression and come into the light.
Over the years, I've made it a point to do certain things for my child to help her have the self-esteem and self-confidence I'm happy to say she has in herself today. If you have a child who struggles with these issues, here are 10 easy ways to help them feel good about themselves every single day.
20 Toys That Will Make Your Kids More Responsible With Their Pets
"I can't wait to pick up my dog's poop!" said no child ever. As cute and lovable as pets can be, it's no surprise that kids can have a hard time when it comes to taking on the responsibility of caring for them. The unglamorous side of pet care (read: scooping poop and trips to the vet) can be especially tough for kids to grasp, but some can even struggle with walking their dog on a daily basis (first thing in the morning, kids!) and grooming their fluffy friends.
Parents who are still on the fence about getting their child a new pet - or the ones who are looking to increase their child's current level of responsibility - should considering investing in any of these interactive and educational toys that are guaranteed to turn young kids into dependable pet owners.
A Pregnant Guide to Starbucks and Caffeine Intake
While some women feel more energetic during pregnancy, some (read: many) women may still need that little boost from their daily cup of joe - or maybe coffee is a luxury in their daily routine that they're not willing to give up just because of their pregnancy. Consuming caffeine while pregnant isn't completely off-limits, but it is recommended that you consume less than 200 milligrams of caffeine per day - and yes, decaf does include a few milligrams - while a tiny human is sharing your body with you.
So what does this mean for your vanilla latte obsession? Check out our handy guide ahead to find out how to keep filling the blank space on that Starbucks cup with your name throughout your pregnancy.
Guy Plans Epic Disneyland Proposal, Fiancée 1-Ups Him With an Impeccably Timed Space Mountain Photo
When it came time for Jordan Williams to propose to his then-girlfriend, Sonni Vargas, Disneyland likely seemed like a no-brainer setting for him to pop the question, as the couple always plans a Disneyland day when Jordan is home from his time in the Navy. After getting down on one knee in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle - Sonni of course said "YES!" - the pair headed over to Space Mountain, which is when the real magic ensued.
Sure, Jordan planned an epic proposal at one of his annual passholder-fiancée's favorite places, but Sonni wasn't about to give up the spotlight that quick. Having an extensive knowledge of all the rides' cameras, Sonni knew exactly when she'd be photographed on Space Mountain - and rather than take a typical photo of her new ring on her finger (OK, OK, she did that too, DUH), she decided to take the engagement ring selfie of all engagement ring selfies while on the coaster.
As the camera took its snap, Jordan and the two men in the row in front of the couple seemed to be feeling the effects of the lightning fast coaster. Sonni, on the other hand, was perfectly positioned, pointing at her sparkling ring and expertly smizing - and the photo is our newest obsession.
Check out all of Jordan and Sonni's engagement photos below, as well as the epic Space Mountain snap.

Why 1 Mom Decided to Share Her 5-Year-Old Daughter's Last Moments to Raise Cancer Awareness
Two years ago, Casey and Ben Daggett found out that their daughter Zoey had a rare brain tumor - known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) - that doctors were unable to operate on. In that moment, they came to the devastating conclusion that their daughter wouldn't have much longer to live. Tragically, Zoey passed away on July 4 at just 5 years old. And her parents shared a photo on Facebook of her final moments in the hopes of spreading cancer awareness.
Casey told POPSUGAR that Susan, one of Zoey's nurses, offered to capture the family's last few hours together. The day after Zoey passed away, the grieving mom posted the picture with the following caption:
"Zoey is going to be shared with the world. Her love and light have been abundant and we will continue to pay it forward and share love and light with the world."
While Casey and Ben are understandably heartbroken, they're hoping that their family tragedy can help other parents whose children have DIPG.
"We have always tried to help others when we can't help ourselves."
"I shared the photo because not a lot of people know what DIPG does to children," she said. "And there is no real funding at all for this type of cancer. We wanted to continue Zoey's sharing of love and happiness and I think that what has happened with this photo and how it has gone viral is the first step to bringing awareness to DIPG and spreading love."
On July 4 at 4:17 p.m., Zoey passed away surrounded by friends and family. Her last few days were "filled with stories, music, and movies," according to her mom.
In hindsight, Casey is happy she had Susan take the picture, as it was the last photo they would have together as a family.
"We thought it was a beautiful photo that showed our love for Zoey and even when we knew she was going to pass, it was just a beautiful photo to us," said Casey. "We have always tried to help others when we can't help ourselves."

Mom Pens Powerful Post About What Depression Looks Like, and It's Getting So Much Love
When Brittany Ernsperger posted a photo of her pile of clean dishes to Facebook in order to showcase what "depression looks like," she did so with a disclaimer: "No. Not the clean dishes. But that there were that many dishes in the first place; that I've gone two weeks without doing them."
The young mom continued, admitting that she sat on the kitchen floor in front of the same pile of dishes before they'd been cleaned and cried, because despite knowing they needed to be done, her depression was causing her to feel like a failure for letting that many pots and pans pile up in the first place. Her honest admission and relatable takeaways about feeling overwhelmed over everyday tasks has caused the powerful post to go viral, and Brittany is getting so much love from others, whether they can personally relate to her or not.
"Depression is something that 'strong' people don't talk about because they don't want people to think they're 'weak.'"
In the vulnerable post, Brittany admitted that she felt defeated with each passing day the dishes were left in the sink, which made her depression and anxiety that much worse. "Worthless. Failure. Piece of sh*t. Incompetent. Stupid. Lazy," she wrote. "All things that roll through the mind of someone with depression. All. Day. Long. Throw anxiety on top of it, and you've got yourself a real treat. Being scared your husband will leave because he thinks you're lazy. Being scared to let people into your home because they'll think you're nasty. Feeling like you're failing your kids because for the third night in a row you don't have any clean dishes to cook dinner on . . . so pizza it is. Again."
The mom explained that though she was using her dirty dishes to describe her struggles with depression, this vicious cycle of beating herself up isn't limited to kitchen chores. "The laundry, cleaning, dressing yourself, taking a shower, dressing your kids, brushing your and their teeth, normal everyday tasks. It all becomes a nightmare. A very daunting task. Some days it doesn't get done at all."
But despite the back-and-forth struggle she goes through in her own head courtesy of her depression and anxiety, Brittany knows deep down that she's not the failure her mental illness would have her believe she is - no, she's strong. And so is everyone else who struggles with mental illness.
Depression is something that "strong" people don't talk about because they don't want people to think they're "weak." You're not weak. You've been strong for so long and through so many things, that your body needs a break. I don't even care if the only thing you did today was put deodorant on. I'm proud of you for it. Good job. I'm in your corner. I'm on your side.
I'm not looking for sympathy, not in the slightest. But I am letting everyone know that I'm here for you. I get it. If you need someone to talk to, I'm always here to help.
Brittany's vulnerability and openness, not to mention her offer to help anyone who needs it, has earned the post hundreds of thousands of shares and nearly 1,000 comments in two short weeks. Brittany says she can't believe how much love the post has gotten, and has offered anyone who's commented or shared her post to reach out to her if they're having trouble managing their own struggles. Not to mention, she's helping to chip away at the general stigmas of mental illnesses simply by discussing her own.
"I'll do my best to help you or get you the help you need. We'll figure it out together. We can only help one another by lifting each other up. I'm here for you."

I Was Ready to Be Mom-Shamed, but I Was Not Ready For This . . .
Chrissy Teigen made me afraid to take my baby out of the house. Well, not Chrissy Teigen, but Chrissy Teigen's social media accounts. Actually, specifically, the comments on Chrissy Teigen's posts. Brutal. Every single move she makes elicits some sort of criticism, and she knew a hell of a lot more about being a mom than me. While I told myself that my baby was too young to be exposed to people, or it was just too cold or rainy or sunny or windy to go anywhere, the reality was I was terrified of being mom-shamed. Chrissy is such an honest, relatable, and badass mom, and look how people tear her apart. What would happen to me with strangers on the street?
I knew that actual bona fide moms were going to take one look a me and see how completely unprepared I was. After all, they were real moms, and I was a charlatan. A fraud.
My hormones were in monsoon season, I had no idea what I was doing, and there were too many things to figure out all at once. What to feed a baby, where to feed a baby, when to feed a baby, how to hold a baby, how to strap a baby in a car seat, how to dress a baby, how to soothe a baby, how to make the little tent thing to keep from being peed on by the baby, and so much more. I didn't have enough sleep, knowledge, or experience to keep it all straight. Trying to be a mom in the privacy of my own home was one thing, but doing it publicly out there in the world was another. I knew that actual bona fide moms were going to take one look at me and see how completely unprepared I was. After all, they were real moms, and I was a charlatan. A fraud.
I was paralyzed with fear, but I was also due to arrive for the first pediatrician appointment, and even my impostor self knew that the initial check-up was non-mom-negotiable. I was shaking in the waiting room. My eyes were darting everywhere, anticipating the blows. I was sure that child protective services would be called and informed about my complete ineptitude as a mother. As soon as the nurse walked into the examination room, I started bawling. I tried to tell her that I couldn't get the hang of breastfeeding, that I wasn't doing it right, that my upper half looked like something out of a horror movie, but the noise I emitted sounded more like the shrieking cry of a wounded pig than a respectable mother one would have no qualms about being in possession of a newborn baby.
You know what happened? The nurse, Ginger the patron saint of emerging mamas everywhere, took my hand and told me she understood. She told me that she was a breastfeeding specialist and when her second child was born, she still woke up from way too little sleep crying about having to feed her child, again. She told me I was not alone, she would help me, and she showed me where to order My Breast Friend, a breastfeeding pillow that was exactly that.
Ginger was only the beginning. A virtual stranger helped me collapse my stroller in a Target parking lot. Did she comment that I should have learned how to do it before I left the house? Nope. She exclaimed, "I do not know why they make these things so complicated!" When my husband and I went out to dinner for the first time post-baby, and our little one started crying, we didn't get nasty looks. The waitress entertained our baby with silly faces while a woman at the table next to us smiled and said, "I remember those days." The moms in the baby aisle at the grocery store didn't comment on the supplemental formula I bought. They commented on the cuteness of my kid.
It didn't stop there. My sister, who lives far away and had not even met my baby, called me every couple of days to tell me I was doing a great job. The women who lived in our neighborhood brought over meals in disposable containers so I didn't have to stress about washing and returning Pyrex. My angel of a mother-in-law stayed with us for a week after my husband went back to work, cooking, cleaning, walking the dog, buying the newborn pajamas I had not thought to get, and basically keeping me alive while I tried to get the hang of deliriously sleepwalking around with my robe half-open, trying to figure out what my moaning son needed. My first day back at work, my female coworkers brought me flowers and things to binge-watch while breastfeeding and told me I looked great (I most certainly did not, but it allowed me to pretend that I could zip my pre-pregnancy tailored clothes up all the way).
I was prepared for the mom-shaming. I was not prepared for the pervasive encouragement and unassuming assistance that washed over my new motherhood. I was not prepared for the enduring kindness and graciousness of other moms. They didn't want to shame me. They wanted to lend a hand, some confidence, or even some baby gear, because they knew what it was like to be in my shoes. To be scared and unsure of my efficacy and unable to figure out how to collapse a stroller in a Target parking lot.
When we were kids, before going to a crowded place, my mom would tell my siblings and me, "If you get lost, find a mom." She explained that we could trust moms and that moms would always try to help. That advice worked when I was a kid, and it still works 25 years later as a woman.

Every Parent Should See This Mom's Warning About a Common Baby Product That Burned Her Son
Kristen Milhone, a mom from Lowell, MI, is warning parents about the danger of putting babies to bed with pacifiers after her 7-month-old son, Jack, got burned by his in his sleep. She knew something was amiss when Jack woke up crying on the morning of June 20. Lo and behold, when she went to pick him up he had a nasty burn from his Philips Avent Soothie Pacifier on the side of his face. In a Facebook post, she explained exactly what happened on the morning of Jack's injury.
"This morning I woke up to my baby as usual but this time was a little different," she wrote. "My baby had a quarter-sized, reddened, raised and blistered spot on the left side of his head (the side he was laying on). I immediately thought chemical burn!"
Kristen knew she didn't want to take any chances and quickly gathered their things and headed to the hospital. On the drive over, she racked her brain in an attempt to figure out exactly how the accident happened.
"As I grabbed all of his things for an early morning car trip to Helen DeVos, I thought 'well maybe it was something in his cosleeper' but that thought quickly flew from my mind because it was just him and his pacifier. None of the things countless safe sleep books, ads, commercials, or doctors warn you of."
"He happened to have created a suction effect between his left temple and the back of the soothie."
Although the doctors weren't sure what caused the burns at first, they later confirmed that his pacifier was to blame for his injury by measuring the backside of the pacifier and comparing it to the size of Jack's burn.
"Upon further examination from one doctor, then another, they determined it was a SUCTION BURN FROM HIS THE SOOTHIE PACIFIER," she wrote. "As Jack rolled at night time he happened to have created a suction effect between his left temple and the back of the soothie. The diameter of the wound and the pacifier indentation were an exact match!"
Although Jack is on the mend and his burn is becoming less noticeable, she still wants parents to be extra cautious when putting their kiddos to sleep with their pacifiers. "I will no longer be using these products once we can find a suitable alternative for him and until then, [their] use will be closely monitored."
This Mom's Terrifying Story About How Her Child Nearly Drowned Proves It Can Happen to Anyone
Desiree Fortin, a mom from California, knows the importance of being extra vigilant about watching her kids when they're anywhere near a pool. But unfortunately for her, a split-second of distraction is all it can take for disaster to strike. She shared what happened when her daughter, Charlize, nearly drowned in a friend's pool on Instagram proving that, yes, it can happen to even the most careful parent.
"I never once imagined, as a mother, I would ever find myself at the ER holding my sweet girl in my arms, tears streaming down my cheeks, uttering the words 'My daughter almost drowned,'" she wrote. "Two days ago we went swimming with friends at their pool. The triplets love the water, especially Charlize. She is fearless and a little fish. We were having a wonderful time with our friends. It felt like the perfect Summer day."
She explained that as the mom of triplets, she's grown accustom to having eyes in the back of her head 99 percent of the time. However, on the day in question she was struggling to get her kiddos dressed and ready for the pool - and that's when Charlize fell in.
"I couldn't get to her fast enough no matter how fast I ran."
"I took Charlize and Sawyer to the bathroom then we went back outside to swim," she explained. "They were both naked so I needed to dress them. The other kids and adults were in the pool playing, as well. I got Charlize in her suit. 'Don't get in the water until I get your floaties on' were the last words I said to her as I proceeded to dress Sawyer."
Little did Desiree know that all it took was a second for her world to be potentially turned upside down: "In a moment, an instance, a matter of seconds, my life changed. 'She's in the water! She's in the water!!' My friend was screaming from the other side of the pool as she saw Charlize struggling submerged under the water."
Desiree's maternal instincts immediately kicked in and she sprung into action:
The next few moments were the slowest of my life. I stood up and saw with my own eyes my girl underwater fighting for her life. I couldn't get to her fast enough no matter how fast I ran. I could see her tiny feet kicking trying so hard to get out, but she simply couldn't. I finally got to the pool and pulled her out as fast as I could. Her blue lips are forever engraved in my memory.
But getting Charlize out of the pool was only half the battle. It took her nearly 30 minutes for her to get back to her normal self.
"As soon as I took her out she instantly started spitting up water and in seconds, she vomited up a lot the water, and the watermelon and strawberries she had just eaten. She was sobbing. I was in shock," said Desiree. "Her color came back and she coughed a little bit."
Desiree wants to emphasize that didn't look away for long. It took mere moments for her daughter to slip into the pool without so much as a sound.
"It looked like Charlize was playing on the larger pool step and got too close to the edge and quietly, silently, and quickly my daughter got into the water and went under. No one saw it happen, but it happened."
The panicked mom didn't want to take any chances even though it seemed like her daughter didn't have any lingering symptoms. She took Charlize to the ER just to be safe after telling her husband about the experience. Thankfully, Charlize has made a full-recovery but Desiree wants parents to know that she avoided a heartbreaking tragedy by a narrow margin and urges them to watch their little ones like hawks.
Emily Ratajkowski's Huge 2-Stone Engagement Ring Is Unlike Anything We've Ever Seen Before
If an engagement ring could make an entrance, Emily Ratajkowski's would be breaking down doors. The 27-year-old model tied the knot with Sebastian Bear-McClard in a secret City Hall ceremony back in February, but we're just now seeing her accompanying ring for the first time. We've caught glimpses of her wedding band before, and while it maintains a simple elegance, her engagement ring is something else entirely. Oh boy, it's gorgeous . . . and gigantic.
Emily has admitted previously that Sebastian actually didn't propose with a ring; he proposed with a paper clip. But while this may not be the ring she got engaged with, it's obviously still taking a very special place on her left hand. Emily's unique ring sports not one but two diamonds: one princess cut, and the other teardrop cut. The massive stones lay side by side on what appears to be a thin gold band, perfectly complementing her homemade wedding band. Check out more snaps of her ring ahead - it's truly unlike anything we've ever seen before.
Kate Middleton's McQueen Coat May Be Stunning, But Her Accessories Tell a Bigger Story
When Kate Middleton stepped out on July 10 for celebrations marking the centenary of the Royal Air Force, all I could think of was that she looked absolutely lovely in her powder blue Alexander McQueen coat. Accessorized with a matching fascinator, white clutch, and diamond earrings, her ensemble was every bit as polished as what we've come to expect from the Duchess of Cambridge. Her Royal Air Force Dacre brooch, a gold, diamond, and ruby design gifted to her by the RAF upon her appointment as an honorary air commandant, was the perfect finishing touch to the look on such a momentous day.
But that isn't the only perfect accessory the duchess chose for this important occasion. She also went back to an old faithful when it comes to footwear. While Kate is known for her love of suede heels, it struck me that she has worn this particular pair with some of her best outfits to date, proving that neutral pumps deserve a place in every woman's wardrobe - and it even looks like Meghan Markle agrees. Ahead, get a closer look at the duchess's chic ensemble, then shop similar neural heels for yourself.

It Looks Like Jennifer Lopez Stole a Pair of ARod's Jeans, and Yes, She Looks Better in Them
Perhaps the most memorable denim moment in pop culture history is Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears' matching outfits at the 2001 American Music Awards, but there's another celebrity couple giving them a run for their money: Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez. The duo found a new way to make matching outfits feel fresh and modern.
Jennifer opted for a pair of baggy jeans that looked like they could be straight out of ARod's closet. To balance out the bagginess of her jeans, J Lo accentuated her petite frame by wearing them with a black bodysuit and a pair of white bedazzled sneakers. Keep reading to get a closer look at their stylish twinning moment, and buy similar versions of Jennifer's jeans ahead.
Frankie Who? Pippa Middleton Says Relax in This Easy, Breezy Wimbledon Look
Pippa Middleton, who frequently attends Wimbledon matches, showed up with her brother James on July 11 after sporting a similar, albeit fancier outfit days before. The expecting mom looked 100 times more relaxed as she breezed her way past the cameras to the stands sporting a linen Polo Ralph Lauren shirt dress ($147, originally $245) and easy black espadrilles that featured a much smaller, lightweight platform than the wedges she's worn before.
Pippa's combination is really so simple when you think about it, we're not sure why we aren't wearing these exact Summer basics right now. Ahead, see how the gorgeous younger sis to Kate (who owns a similar breezy dress from Zara, BTW) accessorized with a crossbody camera bag, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and gold hoops, then shop both her floaty midi and seasonal shoes to make you feel carefree.

They've also been spotted in those tiny '90s sunglasses that have been making a comeback this season. Scroll on to see some of their best looks ahead.

She rocked it with Sandro jeans, a simple spaghetti strap bodysuit, Christian Louboutin patent pumps, and sunglasses from her own Vogue Eyewear collection ($140) while out in NYC.

Every Time Taylor Hill Wears a Bikini, We Need a Cold Compress and a Lie-Down
OK, it's no myth that Victoria's Secret Angels are undeniably h-o-t, but it still stands that you have to see it to believe it when it comes to Taylor Hill. In fact, when the model slips into swimwear, we're pretty sure ice creams melt faster, sales of SPF rise, and there should probably be a crew of firefighters nearby at all times. And while it can be argued that Taylor was born to wear white, she certainly shakes it up when it comes to her swimwear collection.
From sporty styles to one very sexy fluorescent one-piece, Taylor can work 'em all. Sitting down? And wearing shades? Good. Read on for Taylor's simply scorching swimwear snaps.
These Are the Most Comfortable Heels I've EVER Worn - and They Come in 4 Colors
For as long as I can remember, I've completely avoided wearing heels. The skill of comfortably walking around in a pair just never seemed to be something I could take. Over the years, I eased into wedges and kitten heels (which, thankfully, are on-trend), but anything over two inches has always been a solid no in my book. Then I found these Sole Society Joanan Sandals ($89) from Nordstrom, and I'm never going back.
I had to attend a black-tie event and was wearing a nice dress. I knew it would only look good with a pair of heels, preferably on the higher side. Thus, my search began. Like I do when I'm in a fashion bind, I turned to Nordstrom and spotted these heels immediately because of their popular reviews - they boast a five-star rating! Not only were buyers excited about how comfortable they were but also that the quality felt so elevated. They raved about the soft suede material and rich colors and all for less than $100. I was sold.
To my surprise, they lived up to the hype. At three and a half inches, I couldn't believe I wasn't running for a chair after the first hour of wearing them. In fact, I found myself mingling and even dancing all night. I love the cute knot design on the toe, and the thin ankle strap is superflattering for my legs. Melania Trump Trades Her Louboutin Heels For a Very Iconic British Designer in Brussels

The FLOTUS joined Donald Trump for his trip to the NATO Summit, where he will attend to his duties before visiting with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle to receive the Guard of Honour and have tea. Melania will be in attendance and perhaps wear Burberry yet again, or another British designer.

Meghan Markle is in Ireland with Prince Harry for a two-day visit, and her latest outfit will give you major flashbacks to their wedding weekend. She finished her look with black suede heels, Birks Snowflake Snowstorm earrings ($2,995), and a Fendi Peekaboo Essential bag ($5,400).

The past 24 hours have been very busy for Meghan. After having stunned in a black Dior dress in the morning, the Duchess of Sussex quickly made her way to Ireland with her husband. No, You Haven't Seen the Last of Aunt Lydia in The Handmaid's Tale
Warning: Big spoilers for the season two finale of The Handmaid's Tale below!
For a second there we'd deluded ourselves into believing that The Handmaid's Tale had used up all its truly shocking moments, which made the Hulu series's epic curveball in the season two finale all the more effective. In the final episode of the season, "The Word," a number of anxiety-inducing storylines play out: Serena faces serious repercussions for her decision to read the Bible in front of a panel of Commanders, June successfully gets her newborn daughter out of Gilead (but chooses to stay herself), and Emily makes a decision that just might come back to haunt her - or her fellow handmaids - in season three. Since we're still too frustrated over June's actions, let's discuss what Emily does for a hot second: does she kill Aunt Lydia or nah?
As you might recall, Emily (played wonderfully by Alexis Bledel) finds herself alone with Ann Dowd's Aunt Lydia in the home of Commander Joseph Lawrence (Bradley Whitford). Seeing an opportunity, Emily plunges a knife into Aunt Lydia's back as she turns around and then proceeds to kick her down a staircase. It's pretty brutal. (That being said, for anyone who's been watching the show from the beginning, it's hard to muster sympathy for the vile character.) Commander Lawrence then takes Emily away from the scene of the crime, so we never actually get to see what happens to Aunt Lydia or if she survives.
Fortunately, we hopped on the phone ahead of the finale with showrunner Bruce Miller to get to the bottom of it. During the roundtable interview, Miller revealed that both Aunt Lydia and Ann Dowd are safe. "Aunt Lydia doesn't die," he confirmed with a laugh. "I don't think Aunt Lydia can die. I don't think there are forces in the world strong enough to kill Aunt Lydia. And by extension, the incredibly strong, fabulous Ann Dowd, I think, is with us for a long, long time as well."
Although Emily appears to be in the clear on her way to Canada with baby Nichole, her actions will linger in Gilead for episodes to come. "She's transformed by this event," Miller said of Aunt Lydia's mental state after the beating. "The fact that one of her girls . . . [she's been] thinking that there's a love between her and her girls, [and one] has literally stabbed her in the back. I think that that alters your workplace feelings on a day-to-day basis . . . so I think that in some ways, there are a lot of possible effects. But I think in her case, it makes her double down that she feels like she just wasn't strong enough in her discipline. So she, I think, has decided it's time to get tough."
The handmaids still trapped in Gilead, including June, better watch their backs.
Margot Robbie's R-Rated, All-Female DC Film Is a Go! Here's What We Know
Remember in 2017, when Margot Robbie casually confirmed that a Harley Quinn spin-off film was in the works? Well, it's happening. The new project has been confirmed by multiple sources, including Robbie herself, and it's going to be called Birds of Prey. Robbie has already called it a "girl gang" film in the DC universe, and while details are still hazy and up in the air, we've still managed to wrangle a handful of exciting tidbits related to the project. Yes, it's still going to be quite some time before the film hits screens (we don't even have a release date yet!), but the information that's already out there is very exciting and encouraging. Here's what we were able to assemble so far.
Say the Magic Word and We'll Tell You Everything You Need to Know About DC's Shazam!
There's a new superhero joining the DC Extended Universe, and he's bringing a little magic along with him. After several years in development, DC is officially bringing Shazam! to the big screen, with Chuck star Zachary Levi playing the title character.
Shazam! tells the story of Billy Batson, a young boy who is able to transform into a grown-up superhero with the powers of six ancient heroes by saying a magic word. The film originally began development in the early 00's with Peter Segal tapped to direct and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in talks to appear as Black Adam. However, creative differences stalled the project until 2014. The new iteration of the film didn't go into official preproduction until 2017. DC has since decided to film a separate Black Adam movie with Johnson, which means he won't appear in the first film, and cast Zachary Levi for Shazam!. Production for the movie ended in May 2018, and it's set to premiere in theaters on April 5, 2019!
We've rounded up all the available details about the Shazam! movie for you below, but stay tuned for any updates as we get closer to the release!
The Handmaid's Tale Finale Left Us With a Lot of Questions, Namely: June, Girl, Why?
Warning: obviously a bunch of spoilers for the season two finale of The Handmaid's Tale ahead.
The second season of The Handmaid's Tale ends a lot like how it starts: June attempts an escape as the Waterfords continue to crumble. Of course, a whole mess of things happen in between. Though the Hulu show's defiant protagonist gets so very close to making it out of Gilead in the season finale, she ultimately chooses to stay behind for the sake of her first daughter, Hannah. June leaves newborn Nichole, formerly named Holly, behind with Emily, who is on her way to miraculously getting out after stabbing Aunt Lydia. Whew! Deep breaths.
June's decision was largely understood by fans, who have witnessed her undying love for Hannah over the course of two seasons, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating. Before fully facing the reality of what will likely be close to another year before the third season, process the recent finale with some spot-on and hysterical reactions from fans.
The UK Is Hilariously Protesting Trump's Visit by Downloading Green Day's "American Idiot"
It looks like the Brits aren't exactly going to be welcoming President Donald Trump with open arms for his first visit to the UK on July 13. There's an impassioned campaign afoot across the pond to make Green Day's hit song "American Idiot" the No. 1 single on English charts by the time the POTUS touches down on UK soil, and - *spoiler alert* - it's working.
Since the movement began, many Brits have been smashing download buttons for the 2004 jam on various music-streaming platforms. As of July 10, "American Idiot" nabbed the No. 1 spot both on Amazon's UK bestseller list and on Google Play's Top Songs list in the UK, as well as the No. 18 spot on Britain's Official Singles Chart. The campaign also has its own Facebook page, aptly titled "Get American Idiot to No.1 for Trump's UK Visit," which has more than 20,000 followers who fervently track the song's chart-climbing progress.
Read on to learn more about this entertaining campaign, and click here to help the Brits peacefully protest before being faced with the real namesake of Green Day's "American Idiot."

Thanos's Infinity War Snap Is So Much Worse Than You Realize Because of 1 Horrifying Reason
We're now approaching the three-month mark since Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters, and I'm still having trouble thinking about the ending without my heart shattering into a million little pieces. Do I realize they're likely all going to come back in Avengers 4? Yes. Has the image of Peter Parker tearfully disappearing into a poof of dust nonetheless been seared onto my retinas for all eternity? Also yes.
So, you can hopefully imagine my horror upon discovering an even more upsetting layer to the whole Thanos snap situation, one that rivals even Groot's heartbreaking final line in the film: apparently when Thanos decides to snap his giant lavender fingers, he not only takes out half of the human population, but also half of the world's animals. Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed the tragic news while speaking to speaking to Birth.Movies.Death recently, after they asked him if Thanos's action means "half of the horses [are] gone? Half of the ants?" Feige, sinking a dagger into my heart, replied: "Yes! Yes. All life."
So, your dog. Or your cat. Or even the pony your parents hired for your third birthday party. Black Panther and actual panthers. Admittedly I would be fine with a few less ants (no offense, Ant-Man), but what about the bees? We don't have any to spare, man! Also, did the snap destroy an equal amount of each species, or did Thanos just f*ck up the ecosystem as well as our emotions? Captain Marvel better figure something out, and fast, because this is just disrespectful.

The Missouri Heat in Sharp Objects Isn't the Only Thing Making Us Sweat - Meet Detective Willis
HBO's latest new series, Sharp Objects, is the closest onscreen adaptation to an image I've had in my head while reading a book maybe ever. That includes its selection of absolute hunk Chris Messina to play Richard Willis, a Kansas City detective sent to investigate a potential serial murder case in Wind Gap, MO. When the show's main character, journalist Camille Preaker (Amy Adams), first runs into Detective Willis in the novel, I immediately felt that he'd be effortlessly handsome - despite being kind of an assh*le at first - which is exactly the kind of role Messina thrives in, let's be real.
If you, too, felt like your lust for Detective Willis came on stronger than a Missouri heatwave, it may be because you've crushed on Messina before. The 43-year-old has been acting for quite some time (like most actors, you may have seen him in an episode or three of Law and Order), starring most notably in The Mindy Project as Mindy's love interest, Danny Castellano, for multiple seasons. He's also had staring and supporting roles in movies such as Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Julie & Julia (which also featured Amy Adams), and Argo.
Messina's part in Sharp Objects, however, may be the big role that could make him much more of a household name. Check out some of the roles Messina has played ahead, and then catch him investigating murders as Detective Willis on HBO on Sunday nights.
The Trailer For Netflix's New Sci-Fi Movie Looks Equal Parts Trippy and Terrifying
Michael Peña is a source of nonstop laughs in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but it's safe to say he's dramatically changing course in Netflix's upcoming sci-fi film, Extinction. The trailer for the Ben Young-directed project is pretty freaky, introducing us to Peña's Peter, a working class father who keeps having recurring nightmares of his city being decimated by an unknown alien force. Just when his wife (Lizzy Caplan) and boss (Mike Colter) start to think Peter's dreams are a sign of a serious mental issue, a brutal alien assault begins on earth; it turns out Peter has been seeing the future all along, and could be the key to saving humanity. Watch the trailer above before it hits the streaming giant on July 27.
