The Biggest Ingredient in Beauty Has Been in Your Glass This Whole Time
Water. Agua. The good ol' H-2-O. It keeps you alive, makes up for 60 percent of your bodyweight, and remains the annoyingly consistent "beauty secret" behind every celebrity's near-perfect skin. Now, it's dripping from your kitchen faucet into beauty products at an alarmingly fast rate.
To be clear, the concept of a "beauty water" isn't entirely new - face mists have been around longer than any Kardashian relationship - but what is shifting is the way that people are using them. Self-tanning water? That exists. Hair waters? Check, check. More and more brands are finding ways to infuse the life-giving liquid into its formulas so you can experience the hydrating benefits from head to toe.
Ready to look (and feel) like a tall glass of water? Dive right in, ahead.
After a Makeup Artist Used This Concealer on Me, I Bought It That Day - Bye, Dark Circles
You could call me a bit of a concealer snob. I have tried tons of different options, always hunting for a choice that meets my high standards. I want something that hides dark circles, covers acne, and stays on all day long. I found my new favorite when a makeup artist applied this Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème ($26) to my face for a shoot.
As soon as my full face of makeup was on, I audibly gasped. I looked wide awake and airbrushed. The concealer had covered all of my blemishes without making me look cakey - a tricky task. It melted into my skin for a natural-looking finish. But then came the real task - would the formula actually stay on all day long?
I was filming a video under hot lights for hours, and frankly, I was sweating a lot. The makeup artist never had to give my skin a touch-up. I stayed camera-ready all day long. I learned that the product is made with complexion-brightening pigments and hydrating ingredients that make the formula crease-proof. I noticed that my skin didn't feel dry when I wiped away my makeup later on.
After just one day, I was so impressed that I immediately ordered the concealer online from Sephora. Thankfully, the product comes in an extensive range of shades so that most skin tones can have a perfect match. If you're in the market for a new option, I highly recommend this pick.
Prince Harry Had the Sweetest Reaction to Meghan Markle's Wedding Day Makeup
If you still find yourself double tapping photos of Meghan Markle's wedding day makeup, you aren't the only fan: Prince Harry also loved the Duchess of Sussex's makeup.
Her makeup artist and longtime friend Daniel Martin told InStyle that Prince Harry was especially smitten by his bride's natural beauty on their wedding day. "After the ceremony Harry kept saying thank you," he said. "He was thanking me for making her look like herself."
For the couple's ceremony, Markle wore soft, neutral makeup that let her natural freckles shine through. In a previous interview, Markle's former makeup artist, Lydia Sellers, revealed that the duchess's number one request in the chair is to make sure her freckles are "peeking through." So it's no surprise that Martin and Markle went for glowing, lit-from-within makeup for her nuptials.
If you, too, have a minimalist beauty approach, take it from the Duchess of Sussex herself: don't be afraid to let your natural beauty take front and center on your wedding day - turns out, it pays off.

Kat Edison's Curly Hair Is the Real Star of The Bold Type
While Freeform's The Bold Type touches on important topics like body positivity, race, and women's health, the show also makes representation a huge priority. Kat Edison (played by Aisha Dee) graces our TV screens with different natural hairstyles every episode, adding to the laundry list of reasons it's worth watching.
From casual topknots to slicked-back ponytails, Edison continues to serve looks each season - whether she's simultaneously figuring out her sexuality or discussing her biracial identity. It's refreshing to see someone with thick, curly hair on television, especially when it's a powerful black woman in the workplace. Not once in the show is she judged nor discriminated against for embracing her natural hair, which feels especially important at a time when women of color are continually ridiculed for it in society. Although hair isn't the focus on the show, it's a small detail that makes a huge impact for viewers.
So for anyone who understands the struggle of maintaining your natural texture (or simply just fighting the urge not to wrap it into a pineapple every day), we've rounded up Edison's best hair looks on the show. It might just spark some new hair ideas along the way.

Why Do We Open Our Mouths When We Apply Mascara?
Watch even the most graceful person apply mascara, and nine times out of 10, their mouth will drop open as if you just asked them the square root of pi. Since the reason why is less universally understood, we asked Blanca Cobb, a body language expert.
"The open mouth phenomenon is a subconscious action," she told POPSUGAR. "You don't realize that you're doing it." Though the contortion might look weird, it actually serves a purpose. Anyone who has ever accidentally shoved a mascara wand to their eyelid knows that's not an optimal outcome, so when we put on mascara, we try to keep our eyes as open and still as possible. "Two different nerves control the muscles that open and close your mouth and upper eyelids, and those nerves are located close together on your body," Cobb said. "The leading theory for why your mouth opens while you apply mascara is because those nerves are cross-firing."
Once you learn how to apply mascara that way, it can be tough to consciously undo the act. "It's reinforced behavior," Cobb said. "You just sense that it works, so you continue to put mascara on that way." The more you know.

Charmed Stars Not Swayed by Holly Marie Combs's Comments: "She Would See It and Like It"
Not everyone is excited about The CW's decision to reboot Charmed, the late '90s and early aughts tribute to sisterly love and witchcraft.
Some fans were irked that the writers' new characters seemed to be trying too hard to champion diversity since the three multiethnic leads are now playing women who were Caucasian in the original series. And others, like first series star Holly Marie Combs, brought up another issue: is it ageist to reboot a series that just ended in 2006 and not cast the original's stars?
"I will never understand what is fierce, funny, or feminist in creating a show that basically says the original actresses are too old to do a job they did 12 years ago," Combs wrote to a journalist earlier this year. For their part, the cast of the new Charmed are not letting these comments get them down.
"I think that we've collectively made a decision to focus on [the fact that this] is such a great place to be and to create this show with people who I love," Melonie Diaz, who plays middle sister Mel in this version, told journalists on Monday during the show's Summer Television Critics Association press day.
Sarah Jeffrey, who plays youngest sister Maggie, adds that "we understand that it's such a sacred thing to so many people; not only the cast but the fans" and that she and the others involved now are "very gracious and grateful" for that. Madeleine Mantock, who plays eldest sister Macy, says she understands Combs's attachment to the show and that she hopes "she would see it and like it."
So will any original cast members appear in the new version of Charmed? "There's always multi verses, and you never know," teased executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman.
Charmed premieres on Oct. 14 on The CW.
Garrett Yrigoyen's Job Before Starring on The Bachelorette May Surprise You
Garrett Yrigoyen may be the man who finally stole Becca Kufrin's heart on The Bachelorette, but he wasn't always a reality TV star. Prior to being cast on the ABC show, the 29-year-old from Reno, NV, was a medical sales rep. Between his disturbing Instagram controversy and the fact that he received the first impression rose, Garrett was a highly talked about contestant from the beginning. But now that there are wedding bells for him and Becca, and we've learned even more about his divorce and former relationship, it's time to look a bit more into his job before he hit the small screen.
Garrett absolutely tested our true investigation skills with his lack of LinkedIn account and a simple "medical sales rep" on his ABC bio, but we dug deeper. According to ZoomInfo, a database filled with employee information, Garrett is a Distal Extremities Surgical Technology Consultant at Arthrex, which is an international global medical device company with offices in Reno.
Although he didn't pursue his baseball dreams as third baseman following his college athletics career, he still enjoys outdoor hobbies like fishing and snowshoeing. Becca got a taste of Garrett's outdoorsy upbringing when she met his family during hometown dates in the small town of Manteca, CA. Check out everything we know about Garrett's new Instagram account, and see what the couple had to say about his scandal during the After the Final Rose special.
So You're Registered to Vote - Now What?
I am a recent college graduate (that's me in the picture above, on the far right, with some amazing volunteers), and I've spent much of my Summer working out of my county's Democratic party office as a full-time campaign staffer. Despite the fact that we are located deep in Trump country, the older people who have worked in the office for years say they've not seen this kind of grassroots energy in Southwest Missouri for decades. While this is exciting, with fewer than 100 days until the Nov. 6 midterm elections, it is important that we continue to harness our anger toward the current administration into tangible action.
So what exactly are midterms, and why are they important? Every four years, between every presidential election, midterm elections provide us with the opportunity to vote for members of Congress and state legislators. In a way, midterms are just as important as the presidential elections. This is truer than ever in the era of Donald Trump, because those in Congress and our state legislatures have the power to either resist or uphold HIS policies. Republicans hold a majority in the Senate by a mere seat, and in the House, by only 24 seats. Voting in a new Congress of progressives who would protect immigrants from Trump's destructive immigration policies, protect a woman's right to choose by voting against Trump's Supreme Court picks, and potentially pursue impeachment if Robert Mueller's investigation recommends it could radically shift the political landscape.
Millennials now make up 31 percent of the American populace and finally represent an equal amount of the electorate as baby boomers . . . but while 69 percent of baby boomers voted in the 2016 election, only 49 percent of millennials did. We are the most diverse generation in American history; now is our time to mobilize and show up at the polls. We must ensure that those in office properly represent our voices as young people, and we have the power to create a just and inclusive America; we just have to act. Here are three simple ways we can.

The Easiest Way to Clean the Lint Vent in Your Dryer (and You Should Do It Today!)
House fires caused by dryer lint are a real thing. I don't want to add to your list of worries, so let me share a secret with you: cleaning this part of your front-loading dryer is easy. Plus, I have a great hack for you involving an empty paper towel roll. You always knew there was a use for those things! Here's the simple three-step process.
1. Clean the Lint Trap
You should clear the lint trap, the little screen at the front of the dryer, with every load. Simply pull the lint off the screen and put it in the trash. Dryer sheets can clog the screen, making your dryer less efficient, so you should give the screen a scrub periodically - twice a year will do. Here's how: pull the entire screen out, take it to the sink, gently scrub it with dish soap and a bottle brush (be careful not to tear or puncture the screen), rinse, and dry. While it's drying, tackle cleaning the vent.
2. Clean the Vent
The vent, essentially a hose between the lint trap and the outside of your house, can become clogged with lint, too. You want to vacuum this vent, but chances are high your vacuum nozzle designed for crevices is too thick to fit down into the vent. But I found a simple solution for this issue on the blog Intentional Mom. To extend the vacuum hose, take the interior tube of a paper towel roll, and tape it onto the nozzle. You need to make it airtight so the vacuum has adequate suction. Squish the end of the tube to make it narrow, shove it down the vent, and vacuum all that excess lint.
3. Clean the Vent From the Outside
You get bonus points for this part. Find where the dryer vent hose exits your house, open the vent door, and vacuum out this end, too. I found a surprising amount of lint hanging out in the end of my vent.
Bonus: cleaning your dryer will make it run more efficiently and save you a bit of dough by saving energy.
Every Disney Fan Should Complete This Incredible, Edible Bucket List
If you are planning a vacation to Disney World, the abundance of food options across all four parks can be overwhelming, but rest assured that these 28 foods have been well-researched and reviewed in person so you know everything here is 100 percent worth your money (and the calories). While a few iconic treats have made the list (like the Mickey pretzel and Dole Whip), some are a little more obscure (pork nacho fries, anyone?). Expect this list to be a little sweet, partially covered in gooey cheese, and just a tad bit spiked, for those partaking. No Disney trip is complete without scouting out the best foods!
Here's the Creepy Song From the American Horror Story: Apocalypse Trailer
This week, we finally got our first look at American Horror Story: Apocalypse! The first official teaser is called the "Hourglass Teaser" and shows a ton of creepy imagery: melting skulls, gas masks, huge explosions, and a creepy fetus. We don't know about you, but there's one other aspect of teaser that really grabbed our interest, and that's the creepy song that played throughout. We did some digging and found the song, called "Devil's Playground," by The Rigs. Frankly, we can't help but wonder if it's another cryptic hint about what's to come. Now you can listen over and over to really get in the mood while you count the days until the Sept. 12 debut.
The Good Doctor: Shawn and Morgan Butt Heads in This Deleted Scene From Season 1
The Good Doctor season two will be here shortly, but in the meantime, you can rewatch all your favorite moments from the last season. Season one is now available on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, and it features a few exciting additions including a gag reel, behind-the-scenes features, and a few deleted scenes like the one above. In this exclusive clip from the episode "She," we get a closer look at the work rivalry between Shawn (Freddie Highmore) and Morgan (Fiona Gubelmann) as the two fight over an ultrasound. See how Morgan winds up outsmarting the good doctor, and be sure to tune into The Good Doctor when it returns on Sept. 24.

Queen Letizia Is Wearing the Trendy '90s Sandal That Crept Back Into Our Lives Overnight
You know about this sandal. You know about it now because you've been seeing it everywhere - the superwiry, leather braided block heel that looks downright incredible with a slinky slip dress. It's available in metallics, whites, and black, like Queen Letizia's version, but if it smells like nostalgia up in here, that's because this shoe hails from the '90s. Oh, and Jennifer Aniston totally wore a pair as Rachel Green on Friends.
Letizia, who also recently induced major wardrobe envy with these $140 wedges, stepped out with her family to attend the Ara Malikian concert at Port Adriano in Spain. She styled her covetable footwear with a white silk top, black trousers, hoops, and a Summer envelope clutch, keeping right on trend with the decade that's inspiring all our shopping these days. Read ahead to zoom in on her shoes, then scoop up a similar pair. You certainly won't regret it.

Tom Hardy, Good Samaritan, Cannot Get Through An Interview Without Stopping to Help Someone
Tom Hardy, accidental superhero, has once again come to the aid of a member of public in London. Last year, the actor famously made a citizen's arrest after chasing and detaining a moped thief. More recently, he found himself pausing an interview after finding a woman bleeding on the street. Tom was giving an Esquire writer a tour of the area of South West London where he grew up, when they came across the woman, who'd tripped while walking her dog. "I know her," the actor realized, as he went to the aid of what turned out to be the mother of one of his childhood friends. After seeing her into an ambulance and consoling his friend (who quickly arrived at the scene), Tom joked to the interviewer, "Welcome to my neighborhood. I told you there's always something to find behind the Laura Ashley curtains."
Tom is notoriously private about his life (we still don't know the name or gender of his child with wife Charlotte Riley) but we can add this to the list of sweet (and funny) moments we've been treated to over the years. We're addicted to his Instagram and his unique use of hashtags, we have listened to his 1999 rap mixtape on repeat, and we couldn't help but swoon over that unforgettable bedtime story. This guy really is the gift that keeps on giving.

Sure, Princess Eugenie's Dress Was Risky, but We're All About Her $85 Sunglasses
When Princess Eugenie attended the wedding of Charlie van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks, she wore a stunning baby blue dress by Whistles with two daring side cutouts. Styled with a short white jacket from Topshop, a Charlotte Olympia floral clutch, and neutral heels, it was a chic and proper ensemble - but Eugenie managed to add a touch of fun with one simple accessory.
To finish off her outfit, the stylish princess opted for a pair of black round sunglasses by the brand Mr. Boho, which featured a white trim and immediately took us back to the '90s. Ahead, take a closer look at Eugenie's jazzy sunglasses, then shop similar pairs for yourself, including the same model, which is still available in a different color.
6 Ways Being the Middle Child Prepared Me For Life
As the middle child of three kids, there are some things about the so-called "middle child syndrome" that ring true. The guilt some parents have about neglecting their middle child is probably the biggest reason people pity us. Some might assume that our easygoing demeanor means we're easily taken advantage of or that the amount of attention we get determines how much ambition we'll have. And while the sum of these assumptions points to a pretty pitiful existence, there are plenty of character-enriching perks to being the middle kid. I'm absolutely convinced that my birth order has given me one solid advantage for every perceived disadvantage. Here are six ways being in the middle has prepared me for life.
This Showstopping Gown Was the Best Thing on TV Last Night
HBO's Sharp Objects has become one of the Summer's hottest shows thanks to the riveting storylines and the cast's powerhouse performances. While you're probably aware of what a fantastic job the show has done bringing the fictional town of Wind Gap, MO, to life, have you also noticed the show is producing some major fashion moments as well?
Patricia Clarkson's character, Adora Crellin, has been killing it since the very first episode. It makes sense that Adora is always dressed to the nines, as her character is obsessed with how her family is portrayed around town, but in episode five of the limited series she took her fashion game to the next level.
Adora throws an outdoor soirée for the town's annual Calhoun Day celebration and dresses perfectly for the occasion with a botanical-inspired lace dress by Temperley London that is embroidered with flowers, dragonflies, bumblebees, and more. While Adora might not be the best mother, we couldn't help but want to steal her garden party style. Unfortunately her exact light blue designer dress is already sold out, but you can still snag the same frock in black or shop similar embroidered dresses below.

Liquid Electrical Tape Is the Ultimate Money-Saving Hack
Even though my iPhone and MacBook chargers aren't cheap, I don't exactly consider them a luxury item, and I throw them around without a second thought. Because of my reckless behavior (and regular wear and tear), I end up with wires poking out of the rubber tubes, creating both a safety hazard and an expensive issue.
After ruining one too many new chargers, I searched the internet for a solution. For less than the cost of my daily lunch, I found an easy fix: the Gardner Bender Waterproof Liquid Electrical Tape ($5, originally $11) is a protective coating you can use to fix any ripped electrical wire. The bottle of white fluid comes with a little paintbrush that you use to apply it over the ripped hole. The fluid will dry within 24 hours and reseal the wire within the coating, allowing you to use your charger for years to come.
I bought my bottle in 2016 and still have most of it left over. Most importantly, I'm proud to say I haven't had to purchase a new $80 Macbook Power Adapter yet.

35 "Facts" You Learned in School That Are Completely Wrong
If you really think back to everything you learned as a kid, you'll probably realize how inaccurate a lot of the stuff was. Lupita Nyong'o Speaks Out on Black Hair Being "Shunned" Throughout History
Lupita Nyong'o has nothing but love for her natural hair, and she wants to empower other black women to feel the same way. In a recent interview with Net-a-Porter, the 35-year-old Black Panther actress explained her hair "historically, has been shunned" and today people still make assumptions about it and how it affects her career.
"Natural, African, kinky hair - it's often been painted as uncivilized or wild," Nyong'o said. Even as one of the most powerful actresses in Hollywood, she's no stranger to this prejudice in the industry. Just last November, she called out Grazia on Instagram for editing away her kinky coils and smoothing her hair when she appeared on its cover.
"Had I been consulted, I would have explained that I cannot support or condone the omission of what is my native heritage with the intention that they appreciate that there is still a very long way to go to combat the unconscious prejudice against black women's complexion, hair style and texture," she wrote in her collage's caption.
As a result of experiences like these and her own insecurities growing up, Nyong'o wrote Sulwe, a children's book arriving in 2019. The story will follow a young girl from Kenya who learns to see her complexion and individual worth in a new way. Nyong'o has also made strides as the first black woman to sign an endorsement with French beauty brand Lancome and made another beauty deal with Calvin Klein for its fragrance Women. She'll be pictured alongside Katharine Hepburn and Eartha Kitt, women she handpicked for their influence and example.
"By defying their times, they defined their times," she said. "I want to emulate that."
The $10 Product I Bring on a Plane to Make Travel Less Stressful
If you're lucky, you'll never have to sit next to me on a flight. Picture the worst flier you know, the stranger who cries, prays, and clutches your hand from their middle seat. That's me! The friendly skies terrify me so much that just looking up stock plane photos for this post made me break out in hives. Luckily, I've found the beauty equivalent of a Xanax, and now I won't travel without it.
When the MegRhythm Gentle Steam Eye Mask ($10 for seven) entered my life in October of last year, I wasn't expecting much. Its '90s packaging features a reclining model wearing the mask, which feels decidedly less exciting than its gold foil sheet masks and cute animal-shaped counterparts. I foolishly thought that the no-frills MegRhythm option couldn't hold a flame to the others. Then I, a shining beacon of maturity, thought it would be a good idea to stay out all night with friends before heading straight to JFK for a 7 a.m. flight to Denver. By the time I boarded my flight, it felt as though there was 98 percent tequila running through my veins. It was time for a mask - any mask. I ripped the Gentle Steam out of its box and popped it over my eyes. Before I knew it, the mask was steaming, adding a light pressure of heat and subtle lavender scent. The sensation transported me to exactly where I wanted to be - bundled up under my comforter, safe at home - right as my airbus was about to shoot up 40,000 feet.
Now, any time I fly (or get on a bus, plane, and, in some instances, Uber), I make sure to bring along one of these. There's probably a reason 500 million of them have sold in Japan - the 10-minute treatment destresses both your eyes and your soul. If you stare at a computer for a long period of time at work, I also recommend stashing some of these to combat that 3 p.m. slump when you just can't focus on an LED screen any more. I am no longer that anxious girl you fear sitting next to on a plane - I might still fall asleep on you though.
5 Biodegradable Beauty Wipes That Are Better For the Environment
Kids these days, with their $15 retinol and beauty wipes, don't know how good they have it. Back in the day, when you wanted to remove your makeup you had to use (gasp!) face wash, but now you can wipe the day away with just one swipe of material. Convenient? Absolutely. Environmentally friendly? Well, it's complicated.
"While all wipes are disposable, that only means you can throw them away," said Eric Fallon, cofounder and CEO of the skincare brand Rebels Refinery. "However, if wipes aren't biodegradable, they won't break down in a landfill, and that contributes to environmental pollution." In fact, some synthetic makeup wipes can take years to break down - at the expense of ecosystems and oceans, both of which are plagued by plastic waste.
That ethical dilemma's enough to keep you up at night - and you just used a makeup wipe so you could go to bed in the first place. Luckily, there are plenty of biodegradable makeup wipes out there. Keep reading to see our favorites, and whatever you do, don't ever flush any of these options down the toilet. "That damages our sewer system, even if it says that you can flush it on the packaging," Fallon said.
A Nail Salon Refused Service to a Woman with Cerebral Palsy - So a Walmart Cashier Stepped In
Image Source: Kris Atomic After a nail salon denied service to a woman with cerebral palsy, another employee standing by decided to perform a random act of kindness. According to ABC New 12, Ebony Harris, a cashier at Walmart in Burton, MI, witnessed the salon refuse to paint customer Angela Peters's nails because of her shaking hands caused by her condition.
Harris decided to skip her lunch break to paint Peter's nails to the amazement of Subway employee Tasia Smith, who took the photo of the pair that has since gone viral. "I just wanted to post it for awareness and appreciation, because people needed to know what was going on with the business and Ebony deserved all the appreciation she could get," Smith explained to ABC. "I didn't really want her day to be ruined. That's why I did it." The two women picked out the colors together and sat down by Subway for a manicure. "I thought that was so nice of her and I already felt comfortable with her because . . . I shop at Walmart a lot," Peters said.
Harris wants to make clear she's not trying to get the salon any negative attention, but simply spread kindness. "We're not trying to make them lose customers [or] make them look bad," she said. "But maybe spread awareness that no matter the person, who they are, what color they are, disability, whatever, they're people too. She's a girly girl. She's just like you, me, Tasia, my daughter, anybody. She wants to look pretty, you know, and so why can't she?"
We couldn't have said it better ourselves.
You'll Never Believe How the Women on Bachelor in Paradise Get Ready Before Dates
Make it through the tears, the tequila shots, and the "you're not here for the right reasons!" that come with competing on ABC's The Bachelor, and you'll be automatically entered into the drawing of ex-contestants who get to join the franchise's cooler, chilled-out spinoff, Bachelor in Paradise. Therein lies your second chance at finding love on national TV, with one caveat: you're doing it all in a tropical location without air conditioning. That means sweating off your makeup in 100-degree weather isn't just limited to hikes or helicopter rides - but a 24/7 concern for the cast.
Nobody understands the struggle better than Bachelor alum Raven Gates, who competed on Nick Viall's season and then ultimately found love in paradise with Bachelorette castoff Adam Gottschalk. So, in what Chris Harrison would most definitely call The Series's Most Revealing Interview Yet, she spilled to POPSUGAR every behind-the-scenes secret you've ever wondered about - including how Paradise has an outdoor glam room, who had the most extensive beauty routine, and the surprising reason Viall eliminated someone from the show.
How Getting Ready in Paradise Differs From the Bachelor Mansion
It makes sense: putting on makeup when the UV index is higher than the SPF in your lip balm is no easy feat. "With The Bachelor, you can glam it up because you're inside during your date and you're getting ready in air conditioning so you can glam it up, but on Paradise, you have to be really selective," Gates said. "You almost have to wear the bare minimum, otherwise you'll just sweat it off or look really oily. Especially on camera, you can look really shiny and the oil shows up a lot on your face."
"The women were always running to the bathroom and touching up our makeup because it was so hot outside. We had no air conditioning."
So what is a contestant to do? Do a lot of touch-ups - and do them often. "The women were always running to the bathroom and touching up our makeup because it was so hot outside," she said. "We had no air conditioning. Amanda Stanton was in it to win it - her outfit, her makeup, her hair. She really took time on her makeup. If she needed a touch-up, some of the girls might have waited until it was absolutely necessary, but she was in the bathroom making sure she looked good. Mascara was also key because, even if you don't have any other makeup on, good eyelashes can make you look put together."
The Fancy Glam Room in Paradise You Never Knew Existed
"In Paradise, they give you a makeup room - a space where you can sit down, spread out all your makeup," Gates said. "They should do this in the Bachelor mansion, but they don't - they just give you a bathroom, which you have to share with five or six girls at a time. In Paradise, it's almost like a vanity setup, with mirrors and chairs, but it's all outside. It can get very hot, and sometimes it rains, but we all still put on makeup regardless. One good thing about it is that you're reminded as you're putting on makeup in the heat not to do too much, because you know it might look crazy in the sun and you're going to feel it."
The Hot-Day Hairstyle She Swears By
Keeping hair looking good despite the searing humidity is an entirely different story: "By day three, it's so hot that you're throwing your hair on top of your head anyway," Gates said, adding that she also had a secret weapon: braids. "One of my girlfriends going on Paradise this season asked how I dealt with frizz before she left, and I told her, 'Get yourself a spritzer - it doesn't matter which kind, whatever you can get - and some hair ties, and then braid it in a side ponytail.' Luckily for me, Danielle Maltby was on my season of Paradise, and she could braid my hair like nobody's business."
The Surprising Reason Nick Viall Booted 1 Contestant From The Bachelor
"Nick told me in the fantasy suite that one of the reasons he cut a girl is because she didn't smell good."
Her one piece of advice to future Paradise contestants: "Make sure you smell nice. If you smell good, you'll feel better." (Speaking of, allow us to direct you to our foolproof BO-busting tips.) Doing so may also keep you on the show longer. "When I was on The Bachelor, Nick told me in the fantasy suite that one of the reasons he cut a girl is because she didn't smell good," she said. "I was going through a list - 'tell me about her, her, and her!' - which I'm sure is exactly what he wanted to talk about during our fantasy suite: other girls. So yes, always smell good!"
During both seasons, Gates said she slathered on Soap & Glory's Righteous Butter ($15), but as of late she has been grabbing the brand's new Call of Fruity ($8) scent. "My boyfriend [Adam Gottschalk]'s mom actually stole it from me yesterday because it's so good," she said. "It's not super heavy, but it's fruity and feels feminine. I had to get myself another one."
Have You Noticed This 1 Common Thread in the Latest Celebrity Covers?
Vogue / Tyler Mitchell
If three recently released Fall magazine covers are to believed, the beauty forecast for the impending season can be described in one hashtag: "#TBT." Whether it's Rihanna wearing skinny retro eyebrows for Vogue UK, Beyoncé donning the most Beyoncé flower crown on Vogue US, or Zendaya opting for a Bardot half bun, it looks like vintage beauty is back.
Beyoncé's September issue is a landmark for many reasons. First, Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour gave Bey unprecedented creative control in all aspects of the shoot. According to The Huffington Post, Beyoncé picked the 23-year-old photographer Tyler Mitchell to shoot her cover. It is the first time in the magazine's 126-year history that a black photographer's work has graced the cover.
Beyoncé kept her go-to glam squad intact for this shoot; Sir John did her minimalist makeup and Neal Farinah kept her hair natural, leaving it in braids when it wasn't covered by what might be the largest flower crown in history. "I think it's important for women and men to see and appreciate the beauty in their natural bodies," she wrote. "That's why I stripped away the wigs and hair extensions and used little makeup for this shoot." The result is a breathtaking retro effect that brings to mind the "Lemonade" short film or Beyonce's tour de force Coachella performance.
Vogue UK / Nick Knight
Rihanna also wore a flower crown on the cover of Vogue UK, although more of Twitter noted the singer's barely there eyebrows. The look takes inspiration from a bevy of eras; 1930s Marlene Dietrich comes to mind, as does the '90s brow resurgence seen on celebs like Naomi Campbell, Drew Barrymore, and Cindy Crawford. Others noted that South African women have been wearing the look for years, too.
For Marie Claire, Zendaya channeled her 1960s mod side with a purposefully messy half-up courtesy of hairstylist Larry Sims. Against her Max Mara leopard print sweater and skirt, it brings to mind old-school beauty icons like Brigitte Bardot, Raquel Welch, and The Supremes. The actress is known for being somewhat of a hair chameleon who tries out scores of looks, and she has also been outspoken about the importance of representation for women with natural hair.
In the piece, Zendaya spoke with Janet Mock about auditioning for roles that were not necessarily written with a black actress in mind. While talking about casting for the 2017 Spider-Man reboot, Zendaya said, "I definitely went into it like, 'Hopefully they'll' - as they call it in the industry - 'go ethnic.' I remember making the decision to straighten my hair. I didn't know that they were going to be more diverse in their casting. I didn't know that I was walking into a situation where they were already breaking the rules. You get so used to having to break the rules for people."

So: whether you're a '90s child or 1960s aficionado, these covers are giving you blanket permission to treat Fall like one endless #TBT. And even if you just can't get on board with Rihanna's gorgeous-but-tiny skinny brows, the good news is that Beyoncé and Zendaya are keeping them thick.
