Brilliant Freezer Hacks For Preserving Things Other Than Food

I think we can all agree that the freezer is a vital component of the kitchen. Even if you rarely buy prepackaged or frozen meals, the freezer can still be exceedingly useful in prolonging the freshness of most perishable foods, keeping your drinks ice-cold, and even slashing meal-prep time. But here's the thing: the icy appliance offers a handful of other non-food-related benefits as well. From cleaning your favorite denim jeans (sans water) to making your candles last longer, the freezer can be used in the following eight brilliant ways.

12 Times Princess Diana Royally Schooled Us in How to Style Denim

We've got a theory that every denim designer right now has a Princess Diana mood board taped to a wall somewhere. This is because every trend dominating runways and stores right now, from mom jeans to overalls, was first worn by the lady of denim herself. Showcasing her love for the fabric, Diana would often opt for a pair of high-waisted jeans on an off-duty day with her sons, later dressing up the style on tours with oversize blazers and boots. Along with classic jeans, her closet featured a selection of denim shirts, even styled with jeans for a full denim-on-denim look on occasion.

This isn't the first time we've acknowledged Diana's outfits being ahead of their time. Her undeniably iconic style still reigns today, from her love of heavy aviator sunglasses that suited her delicate features to her collection of Summer swimsuits that we're all still shopping right now. (Oh, and hell yes she owned Superga sneakers, worn with jeans, of course.) Scroll to be schooled on how to wear denim now, by someone who was styling it royally well 25 years ago.

The Queen Is Reportedly Lending Eugenie a Wedding Carriage, Because That's What Grannies Are For

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's big day is almost here! We already know that Princess Beatrice will serve as her sister's maid of honor and that the royal's dress will be classic with a twist, but what about the carriage ride? According to Kensington Palace, Eugenie and Jack will "undertake a short carriage procession through part of Windsor High Street" and "the carriage will process through the grounds of Windsor Castle, departing via Castle Hill to proceed along part of the High Street before returning to the Castle via Cambridge Gate."

Vanity Fair reports that the couple will ride in an open-top State Landau carriage, similar to the one Prince Harry and Meghan used for their wedding. The State Landau is mostly used by Queen Elizabeth II during her state visits, but we're sure she has no problem letting her granddaughter borrow it for her wedding. Ahead, check out photos of Eugenie's previous carriage rides to get you ready for the big day!

What Is Going On? A Thorough Review of Nicki Minaj and Travis Scott's Feud

Since the release of their respective albums, Queen and Astroworld, Nicki Minaj and Travis Scott have been quite busy. The albums came out within a week of one another, with Travis's dropping on Aug. 3 and Nicki's on Aug. 11. The critically acclaimed Astroworld debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and held the spot when Queen was released, causing Nicki to come in second. Since then, there have been Twitter rants, awkward red carpet run-ins, and lots of trash talk on the radio. We're not exactly sure when this feud will end, but for now, let's go back to the beginning of when it all started.

Prepare to Melt Over These Adorable Photos of Prince Alexander's First Royal Engagement

At only 2 years old, Prince Alexander just hit a very important milestone: his first royal engagement. On Thursday, the young Swedish royal paid a special visit to the Nynas Nature Reserve in Sweden with his parents, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip. Alexander officially opened the Prince Alexander Viewpoint and was as adorable as ever as he pulled a ribbon during the inauguration. And things only got cuter from there! Alexander seemed to have a blast as he rode in a horse-drawn carriage and played with the animals. At one point, he even hopped on an oversize fake duck, with help from his mom, of course. Sadly, Alexander's younger brother, Prince Gabriel, wasn't there to witness the monumental moment, but we're sure he's very proud.

David Beckham Is Headed to Australia With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!

David Beckham is headed to Australia with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - for the 2018 Invictus Games, that is. On Thursday, David announced on Instagram that he was recently named an ambassador of the royal's annual Paralympics-style event.

"I've been lucky enough to meet and work with many serving, veteran, and wounded British armed forces personnel over the years and I've been humbled by the courage, resilience, and spirit shown by each and every one of them. So, I'm incredibly proud to announce I will be an ambassador for this year's Invictus Games in Sydney," David wrote. "The entire Invictus Games team, led by the Duke of Sussex, has achieved remarkable things in such a short space of time, using sport as a powerful force to rehabilitate and unite and I can't wait to be part of the energy and the excellence of the Games this year. @invictusgames2018 #IG2018."

Harry launched the Invictus Games in 2014 to help aid the physical, psychological, and social recovery of active-duty soldiers and veterans. This year's games are set to kick off on Oct. 20 during Harry and Meghan's tour of Australia and New Zealand. Both David and Victoria Beckham are friends of the royal family's, so it makes sense that Harry selected David as an ambassador. Hopefully he brings Victoria along and we can have a repeat of the royal wedding.

Mayim Bialik Is Devastated by the End of The Big Bang Theory: "Am I Happy? Of Course Not"

This week, CBS announced that The Big Bang Theory will end after its upcoming 12th season. According to reports, star Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon Cooper, is ready to move on with his career. In the wake of the news, many members of the cast have expressed their feelings about the end in various statements on social media. Among them is Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy Farrah Fowler. Bialik shared her reaction on Grok Nation, an online community that she founded in 2015. In a new blog post, published on Aug. 23, she said she is "of course" unhappy about the end of the show. She wrote:

Am I happy? Of course not. This has been my job since Melissa Rauch and I joined the cast as regulars in season 4. I love my job. I love my castmates, and I feel such appreciation for our incredible crew, our brave writers, our entire staff, and our amazing fans. So many people are a part of our Big Bang family. This is hard. I love coming to work and pretending to be Amy. She's a riot. She's me, and I am her. And soon she will not be mine to create.

Bialik finished with a few additional thoughts about the upcoming season and how she'll fare as the series inevitably wraps:

But my paying job - the one you know me for - is ending and yes: It's very sad. I fear it's going to be very hard to not cry every day for the next 23 episodes! But, as a cast, we love bringing joy to our viewers and we will continue to do that to the best of our collective ability. Being an actor is profoundly humbling, incredibly gratifying, and terribly complex. Being an employed actor on what is the #1 comedy in America is unbelievable. And the fact that so many people consider us a part of their lives and families is powerful. I don't take any of it for granted.

Connie Britton Will Return to American Horror Story Just in Time For the Apocalypse

Ever since it was announced that American Horror Story: Apocalypse would be a mashup of season one, Murder House, and season three, Coven, we couldn't help but wonder which past characters from Ryan Murphy's anthology series would make a repeat appearance. Now, a few months closer to season eight's premiere, we've been informed that all the witches we came to love (and love to hate) are coming back, like Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, and even Stevie Nicks. Hell, even Jessica Lange is reprising her role as Constance! So, given all the cuddly (and sinister) reunions going on, Murphy has to bring Murder House's ill-fated Harmon family back too, right? Right?! Well, we can officially give you the good news: Connie Britton will indeed appear in season eight!

According to The Wrap, the AHS alum - whose Vivien Harmon dies by the end of season one after giving birth to the Antichrist - will be returning for the upcoming installment of the horror series. The actress is reportedly shooting her scenes on location at the Murder House set in LA alongside her season one costar Dylan McDermott, whose character, Dr. Ben Harmon, also didn't make it out of the show alive.

The pair were recently spotted filming AHS, and given the fates of both of their characters, they'll likely be playing ghosts in the new season (unless Murphy has a flashback situation planned). Vivien, after all, is the unfortunate mother of the Antichrist himself, Michael Langdon, whom she conceives with ghost Tate Langdon (Evan Peters). All the trailers for season eight have hinted at Michael bringing about the titular apocalypse, but maybe the spirit of his mother can bring him back to the light . . . ?

Just kidding. This is a Ryan Murphy show. Only doom, gloom, and Britton's gorgeous hair await us.

These Are the 10 Highest-Paid Actors in the World

Forbes's annual list of the highest-paid actors in the world has been unveiled, and some faces on the list might surprise you. Last year, Mile 22 star Mark Wahlberg clinched the top spot, raking in a cool $68 million for his turns in films like Daddy's Home 2 and Transformers: The Last Night. In 2018, however, Wahlberg didn't even crack the top 10. So, which well-paid stars picked up salaries that will likely make your jaw hit the floor, especially when compared to the figures brought in by the world's highest-earning actresses? (The actors' list tallied $748.5 million, compared to the list of female stars, which totaled $186 million.) Keep scrolling to see what stars like George Clooney, Dwayne Johnson, and more earned over the last year as you reflect on Hollywood's gender pay gap problem.

What a Dermatologist Wants You to Know Before You Get Your First Peel

Anyone who's seen Sex and the City can understand that the thought of a chemical peel can be, well, intimidating. But peels don't have to be scary. In fact, they can actually work wonders for your skin.

The perfect cocktails of exfoliating acids can obliterate acne, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation, but before you hit up your dermatologist (or esthetician) for a treatment, there are a few important things to keep in mind. Below, we asked dermatologist Marnie Nussbaum, MD, to break down all the basics to know before a peel so you can put your best face forward.

After a Makeup Artist Used This Concealer on Me, I Bought It That Day - Bye, Dark Circles

You could call me a bit of a concealer snob. I have tried tons of different options, always hunting for a choice that meets my high standards. I want something that hides dark circles, covers acne, and stays on all day long. I found my new favorite when a makeup artist applied this Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème ($26) to my face for a shoot.

As soon as my full face of makeup was on, I audibly gasped. I looked wide awake and airbrushed. The concealer had covered all of my blemishes without making me look cakey - a tricky task. It melted into my skin for a natural-looking finish. But then came the real task - would the formula actually stay on all day long?

I was filming a video under hot lights for hours, and frankly, I was sweating a lot. The makeup artist never had to give my skin a touch-up. I stayed camera-ready all day long. I learned that the product is made with complexion-brightening pigments and hydrating ingredients that make the formula crease-proof. I noticed that my skin didn't feel dry when I wiped away my makeup later on.

After just one day, I was so impressed that I immediately ordered the concealer online from Sephora. Thankfully, the product comes in an extensive range of shades so that most skin tones can have a perfect match. If you're in the market for a new option, I highly recommend this pick.

I Found a Concealer That Instantly Erases My Under-Eye Bags

When it comes to concealer, I've always had trouble finding a product that truly covers my under-eye bags. Most options crease, come right off, or just don't have enough coverage. Then, a makeup artist applied Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Undereye Concealer ($31) to my face. I was in total awe. With a few taps of the product, those pesky bags instantly vanished.

The long-wear waterproof formula stays on from morning till night - I never have to reapply. Its silky consistency melts right into my skin for a natural look that isn't cakey or drying. Still not sold? Just check out the amazing reviews on Nordstrom. Of the 375 customers who reviewed the product, almost all of them give it a perfect five stars.

"To date the best full coverage concealer I've found," one buyer wrote. "Does not crease or get blotchy as the day goes on. I have terrible undereye circles and this covers them almost perfectly. I have tried just about every high-end and drugstore brand concealer and this is by far the best."

Consider your hunt over. Once you get your hands on this formula, you'll never want to try anything else again. I promise.

5 Haircuts That Will Look Fantastic on Round Faces

While there's nothing wrong with having a round face (Chrissy Teigen has one, and she is basically a goddess), you might still want a hairstyle or cut that will flatter your face without making it appear wider.

We reached out to Salon SCK hairstylist Devin Toth to find out how we can get the most flattering chop for fuller-cheeked faces. He explained that to create the appearance of a longer face, it's all about where the hair falls and creating asymmetry. "As long as the texture isn't most pronounced at the jawline and cheeks, it will balance the face," he said. If the curliest parts of your hair fall at the widest part of your face, it will add width to your facial appearance.

Keep reading to see which styles Toth recommends.

I Worked in Retail For 5 Years, and These Are the Only Flats I Could Stand In All Day

Since I'm a shopping editor, people always ask me for advice on what's the best of the best. One question I often field is, "What are the most comfortable flats?" I can speak from experience that these Sam Edelman Felicia Flats ($70-$100) are total winners.

In college, I started working in retail. I often spent six to eight hours, at least five days a week, walking in circles around a store, wreaking havoc on my feet wearing heeled shoes or too-flat flats. After what felt like years of trial-and-error runs of every shoe possible, I finally came to the conclusion that the Felicia flats are my favorite.

Aside from the cute, classic ballet style, I was attracted to them because of the cushioned heeled soles and flexible backs. Importantly, it's a flat that offers support and doesn't cut into the backs of my ankles. From leather to suede, metallic, printed fabric, and even calf-hair, the flats come in an array of materials and more colors and designs than I can even count. A number of their classic styles also come in medium, narrow, and wide choices. What could make them even better? They cost $100 - making them the most glamorous pair I could afford during my college days, but they lasted me for years. I found myself investing in new styles and colors anytime I could, knowing this was the shoe I could always rely on.

Do yourself (and your feet) a favor and get a pair for Fall; you won't regret it. Keep scrolling to shop a few of my favorite picks.

I'm Obsessed With Swimsuits, So I've Been Wearing Mine to Work - Can You Tell?

Everyone who knows me knows I love the beach. I would live among the waves if I could, and trade my entire wardrobe for swimsuits. I am constantly thinking about booking my next vacation, and you can bet it'll be to someplace warm. I think you probably get the picture, but just to drive my point home: in an ideal world, I live makeup-free with salt in my hair and zero knowledge about things like blow dryers and hairspray.

So, after my Caribbean cruise in May and my annual family trip to Hilton Head Island, SC, in August, I solemnly called out to Summer, "Wait, hang on! Don't go!" As a fashion editor, there was only one way I could extend my getaway, while also still showing up to work: keep my swimsuits on rotation. For one week, I challenged myself to style a swimsuit over/under all my clothes. It felt great. I was comfortable, and every time I looked down at myself, I was graced with a memory of the time and place I last wore the bikini or maillot in question.

While this was fun for me at first, and I instantly dreamed up a few separates I could coordinate with my favorite two-piece (that new oversize blazer I just bought!), I was running out of ideas by day three. I had to get a little inventive, but hopefully you'll be able to take these styling tips to task one day of the week at the very least. If not, you can just shop the designs I love so much - as most of them are still available - and wear them alone next time you're poolside or hanging under the palm trees.

Yours truly,
Sarah the Mermaid

6 Actions You Can Take to #StopKavanaugh and Protect Women's Rights

The nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court threatens to strip away the most fundamental of women's rights for generations to come. Kavanaugh is a staunch conservative with a long-standing history of opposing access to birth control and abortion. The Donald Trump administration's latest SCOTUS nominee made headlines during a controversial abortion case in October 2017, where he dissented against the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals' decision to grant a detained 17-year-old immigrant access to an abortion. Kavanaugh also penned the dissenting opinion against a ruling that upheld the Affordable Care Act's birth control mandate, arguing that employers opposed to contraception for religious reasons should not be required to provide employees with coverage for birth control. Simply put, appointing Kavanaugh, 53, to a lifelong position on the Supreme Court would likely spell disaster for reproductive rights.

To ensure such a dangerous nomination never succeeds, organizations including Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice America, Move On, and more are banding together on Sunday, Aug. 26, for a day of action called Unite For Justice . . . and they need you to join in with them. Dust off your marching shoes and read on for ways you can ensure your senators get the picture: any nominee posing a threat to women's rights is an unacceptable choice for the highest court in the land.

Thanks to Lyft, Getting to the Polls on Election Day Just Got a Little Easier

Lyft is doing its part to help get voters to the polls this Election Day. The ridesharing app has partnered with several voter turnout organizations to offer discounted - and, in some cases, free - rides on Nov. 6.

With the help of Vote.org, Nonprofit Vote, and TurboVote, Lyft will distribute 50-percent off promo codes to voters in need of transportation to the polls, the ridesharing company announced on Aug. 23. Lyft will also be providing completely cost-free rides in underserved communities with nonprofit partners including Voto Latino, Urban League, and others. As an added bonus, the app will also launch a feature that will help riders locate their assigned polling location in the lead up to Election Day.

For anyone not yet registered to vote, Lyft has a plan for that, too. Lyft drivers will receive voter registration handouts and additional voter information for any interested riders, and the app will notify users about any upcoming registration deadlines.

Lyft's effort is just one of many that major businesses and influential Americans are taking to encourage people to make their voices heard in the midterm elections. Earlier this Summer, Michelle Obama announced the first-ever When We All Vote Week of Action, which will consist of voter registration events across the nation from Sept. 22 to Sept. 29 - some of which will be attended by the former first lady herself.

Disney's Halloween High Tea Service Is Themed After Its Most Memorable Villains

When you think of high tea, you probably envision a group of people in their Sunday best sipping tea with their pinkies out and eating finger sandwiches from fancy plates. But this Halloween at Disneyland, things have taken a very dark (and dangerously clever) turn with an all-new villain-themed high tea service. Available beginning on Sept. 7 at Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel, this limited-edition activity is certainly worth booking in advance.

Disney drew inspiration from some its its best - or worst? - villains and created an entire spread that pays homage to them. Maleficent's "horns" make an appearance on the menu in the form of ruby red microgreens atop edamame-avocado smash on pumpernickel bread. The Lion King's Scar is a red pepper hummus-smeared sandwich that stands tall over the others, acting as an edible version of Pride Rock. Half the fun of making your way through each item is deciphering the connection to the character; the Disney food experts who created the menu left no detail unnoticed.

This time last year, Steakhouse 55 had a special high tea service, but it was just a general Halloween theme. This year's villain theme heightens the experience even more, and it's a not-so-scary way to celebrate the season with your friends. Take a look at the details ahead, and plan on stopping by while it's on the menu from Friday through Sunday (from noon until 3 p.m.) until Oct. 31.

I Made Dirt-Cheap Meals For a Week, and Here's How I Survived

One day, while feeling particularly dismal about spending yet another $100 on groceries for the week in San Francisco, I read a post that forever changed my outlook on food expenditures: "This Story of How 1 Woman Saved $30,000 in 8 Months Will Motivate You (and Crack You Up!)." I laughed! I cried! It motivated me to get to work. While dumpster diving won't be my method of saving money on food, I had a profound realization: my fridge, pantry, and freezer probably contained enough food to feed me for "free" for at least several weeks, so I set out to only eat from items I already owned.

The reserves lasted me well over a week, and in all honesty, I'm still working on clearing it out. Check yours and you'll likely discover an astonishing amount of food that's gathering dust and ice chips. Like me, you may have avoided this food for months. But, when I challenged myself to be creative, I came up with some tasty ways to straight-up survive off of it. You will too, once you read my tips.

The Absolute Best Way to Cook Zucchini Noodles

Congrats! You've successfully made zoodles in a spiralizer. Now, onto the important question: how do you actually cook them? Unlike pasta, you fortunately don't need to wait around for a pot of water to boil. Instead, you treat the veggie "noodles" as vegetables you'd normally sauté on the stovetop.

The best way to cook a batch of zoodles is to heat one or two tablespoons of oil, such as olive oil or coconut oil, in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the noodles with a generous pinch of salt and a little pepper. After about five minutes, the zoodles will be slightly softened but not mushy, which is what you're after. They'll be similar to the al dente texture of traditional pasta.

And that's it! You can turn off the heat and turn your zucchini noodles into a full meal catered to your preference. You could add homemade bolognese sauce, basil pesto and parmesan cheese, lemon butter shrimp and red pepper flakes, or even more of your favorite satueed veggies to the mix. After trying out this healthy alternative to carb-heavy pasta a few times, you might convince yourself you like it almost as much as the real thing.
