Pain After Rough Sex? See a Doctor's Advice on What to Do Next
So, you and your partner just got done with your bedroom marathon and the pain is finally settling in. But before you freak out over burning urination, you may be experiencing something far less serious than an STI or a medical condition. Although pain during or after sex can be attributed to more serious health issues, it's likely that you simply received some cuts while getting it on. "Yes - it's actually quite common to get small tears on the vaginal walls during sex," One Medical provider Navya Mysore, MD, told POPSUGAR.
Oftentimes, this occurs when the vaginal area isn't sufficiently lubricated. Dr. Mysore added that other conditions, including lichen sclerosis, eczema, psoriasis, or lichen planus, can make getting vaginal tears more common. So, how do you differentiate pain caused by an STI vs. a vaginal tear? You may see a small amount of spotting or feel minor irritation or burning with urination, but other symptoms can indicate a potential infection: different colored discharge, itchiness, pus from the site of the tear, vaginal lesions, or pelvic cramps or pain. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should see your primary care provider.

How to Treat Vaginal Tears Caused by Sex
"Most often, small vaginal tears will heal on their own," Dr. Mysore said. "Vaginal mucosa is very well innervated with blood flow and tends to heal very quickly." She also advises you clean superficial cuts with warm water once or twice a day and avoid using harsh or scented soaps on the area. I've personally found coconut oil to be a miracle worker when it comes to soothing and healing painful cuts caused by too much friction during sex. Just apply a small amount onto the skin surrounding the vaginal opening and on the inner labia for instant relief.
If the pain is significant, Dr. Mysore recommended taking over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. In the meantime, it's best to wear cotton underwear and to avoid wearing tight clothing. You also may want to give sex a break for a day or two until the pain subsides.
How to Prevent Them From Happening
Lubrication is key! Make sure you're fully aroused before penetration and go slowly at the start. "Make sure fingers are clean and fingernails are trimmed, so there are no inadvertent cuts with possible foreplay," she said.
I Haven't Eaten Dairy For 4 Years, and I've Experienced These 12 Massive Health Benefits
As a young animal lover, I stopped eating meat when I was 13 years old, and dairy was an absolute staple. I didn't think anything was wrong with it because it wasn't like the cows were being killed, right? Wrong. So wrong. It wasn't until four years ago, when I watched the documentary Vegucated, that I found out how inhumane the dairy industry is. I had no idea! Cows are artificially impregnated at an alarming rate, and after they gave birth, their babies are brutally taken away from them immediately and hooked up to a machine to give their milk to us. I was sobbing watching a farmer drag a newborn calf away from its mama while she screamed and tried to chase after it as they held her back.
I live in Vermont, where the joke is that there are more cows than people. I spoke to tons of small family farms to find out the truth. They all nodded. I was shocked that one very well-known organic farm explained, "The reason we separate the calf right away is so they don't bond. Already you can hear the moms and calves mooing to each other, and it'd be much worse if they stayed together." It made me sick. As a mother of two, my heart ached, and I felt compelled to give dairy up overnight.
Aside from feeling good about not supporting the cruel dairy industry, I had no idea how dramatically my life would improve over the past four years. Here are the amazing health benefits I experienced after going dairy-free.

I Meal Prepped Every Meal For 5 Days - These Recipes Made It Super Easy
In college, meal prepping every Sunday night was a huge part of my healthy routine. It saved me not only time but also money. It kept me on track to meet my healthy goals, because I knew I had no excuse to grab something unhealthy on the go. All I had to do on a weekday was go home, and a nutritious meal would be waiting for me.
If you're looking to live a healthy lifestyle, meal prepping can be a huge step in the right direction. A few minutes cooking meals for the week on a Sunday night might be your savior when you feel tempted to turn to processed and fattening foods. To make things easy for you, I've gathered my favorite breakfast, lunch, and dinner recipes to prep for the five-day workweek.
The Most Important Piece of Advice I Give to People Who Want to Go Vegan
I've been vegan for a few years and I've loved every second of my plant-based journey. I'm also a nutrition coach who helps clients change their eating habits so they can feel their very best each and every day. Yes, going vegan can be a tough transition, but only if you don't do it the right way.
There's a lot of guidance I give to clients and friends who are looking to go vegan, but there's one nugget of advice that trumps them all: make the changes gradually. You can't expect to see anything different if you try to give up everything in one fell swoop. I see too many people make that mistake. They swear they're giving up dairy or meat forever, and then three days later, they're craving a creamy yogurt so badly that they go overboard and eat too much ice cream.
Rather than going cold turkey, think about how often you eat meat. If it's once a day, cut back to four times a week. The following week, only eat meat two or three times a week, and so on and so forth. This allows your body to get used to the changes you're creating, and it will make it much easier to stick to it in the long run. Plus, you will start to notice the positive benefits as they gradually show up in your body and mind. You'll actually want to eat more and more plants as time goes on.
10 Women Share What an Orgasm Feels Like to Them
I think women can all agree: orgasms are awesome. Yet the experience itself might be different from woman to woman, with unique sensations that make that "O" really pop. Maybe you feel fireworks, tingling in your body, or a rapid heartbeat and dripping sweat; whatever it is, it probably feels really, really good. Here, women share what an orgasm feels like to them, so if you haven't yet had one yourself, you'll know a few possible things to expect once the time comes.

Here's Why Sharp Objects Season 2 Will Likely Never Happen at HBO
The latest Gillian Flynn book adaptation, Sharp Objects, made Gone Girl fans all sorts of excited, and for good reason. After seeing how well HBO handled Big Little Lies, Jean-Marc Vallée (who directed both projects) has another masterpiece on his hands thanks to the way he's brought Flynn's debut novel to the small screen. Now that a second season of Big Little Lies is officially happening, though, we can't help but wonder if Sharp Objects will continue past its first season as well, especially given the shocking, open-ended note the eighth (and presumably final) episode wraps up on. According to Flynn, that very well may be a possibility, while showrunner Marti Noxon seems to disagree.
Sharp Objects tells the story of a crime journalist named Camille Preaker (played in the show by Amy Adams), who returns to her hometown of Wind Gap, MI, to investigate the mysterious murder of a young girl. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Flynn said she can already imagine the story continuing for Camille and her other characters past what has already been written. "My characters always go on in my imagination," she said. "They have full working lives in there, and I keep in touch with all of them . . . I know exactly what happens to them."
During a Q&A at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, TX, Amy Adams remarked on how the decision to opt for an eight-episode miniseries rather than a two-hour film (as was originally intended) was the right move. "If you go back and read Sharp Objects, the internal monologue of Camille is almost impossible to capture in a 90-minute story, so it's so well suited to this," said Adams. "I think [the limited series] is the near future of storytelling."
At first it seemed (to us, at least) that if a plan to continue the series was discussed, Adams would be on board. Then again, Noxon made it clear at a recent TCA panel that she's sticking to a limited series. "We're not talking about a season two," Noxon said. "This is it, so bask in it while you can." Later on at the same event, HBO head Casey Bloys echoed Noxon's sentiment.
"No, no," he said when asked if Sharp Objects would get a sophomore season the way Big Little Lies has. "I'll tell you the difference. For Big Little Lies, Reese [Witherspoon], Nicole [Kidman], Laura [Dern], Shailene [Woodley], and Zoë [Kravitz] - they all wanted to do it again. This is very - as you know, the show is dark, and Amy's character is very dark. It's a difficult role for an actress to play. I believe she doesn't want to play that character again, which I completely understand. It's a lot to take on, and without her I just don't see. I think this is one where you gotta say, 'We got a fantastic limited series, and we'll leave it at that.'"
If HBO, Adams, and Noxon ever do want another season documenting Camille Preaker's investigations, Gillian Flynn confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that she's not ruling it out: "I would never say no [to another season]." We'll just have to wait and see!
True Detective Season 3: Mahershala Ali Heads to the Ozarks in the Dark First Trailer
Yes, True Detective is finally returning for season three, and yes, Mahershala Ali looks damn good in the first trailer. The third installment of HBO's gritty detective series, an anthology from Nic Pizzolatto, stars the Moonlight Oscar winner as Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas. He sets out to solve the mystery of two missing children in 1980, eventually crossing paths with Amelia Reardon (Selma's Carmen Ejogo), an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to the kids.
A concrete release date has yet to be announced by the network, but the end of the brief trailer (above) reveals that True Detective will return in January 2019. After a dry, painfully slow second season, the drama unsurprisingly lost a good number fans who couldn't get enough of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in season one. Fortunately, it seems the twisted new story - which will unfold over the course of three decades - as well as casting talented stars like Ali, Ejogo, and Mamie Gummer will be more than enough to lure viewers back in.
Why the Final, Sickening Minutes of the Sharp Objects Finale Hint at a Second Season
Warning: BIG spoilers for the Sharp Objects finale below.
Well, it's all been leading to this. After eight twisted, vodka-soaked, Led Zeppelin-fueled episodes, Sharp Objects has officially wrapped up and revealed who the killer is: Camille's little sister, Amma Crellin (Eliza Scanlen). Even if you read Gillian Flynn's novel of the same name, the miniseries tosses in a few unexpected twists on the original story at the end of the episode that make it seem like a second season could actually be a possibility. But before I get into all that, let's rewind and hash out exactly how the big Amma reveal goes down.
Early on in "Milk," our fearless journalist Camille (Amy Adams) eventually realizes (with no help from Detective Willis) that her other younger sister, Marian, didn't die from a mysterious illness decades earlier; in actuality, her mother, Adora (Patricia Clarkson), has Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a condition that involves a caregiver developing the faulty perception that whoever is under their care is suffering an illness of some kind (when often, they're p,erfectly healthy). Adora had been poisoning Marian with a supply of drugs that made her sick, ultimately leading to her tragic, untimely death.
Fast forward to present day, and Adora is doing the same to both Amma and Camille. Camille is so sick that she can barely walk, and Adora has confiscated both her and Amma's phones so neither of them can call for help. Since Amma is the slightly better off of the two, Camille begs her to go get Willis and tell him what's happening. Amma, loyal to her mother until the end, decides against it, but luckily Willis puts two and two together on his own and brings the cavalry up to the Crellin home just in time to save both Camille and Amma. Adora is arrested; the girls are rushed to the hospital, where they make a full recovery (physically, that is); and Willis says his goodbyes.
From there a wordless montage begins, showing Amma (and her creepy dollhouse) moving in with Camille in St. Louis and Adora being put away for her crimes - she's charged with killing not only Marian, but also the two other little girls in Wind Gap, Ann and Natalie. Amma seems to be adjusting to her new surroundings well, but Camille brings her to visit Adora in prison from time to time where the mother and daughter tearfully catch up (Camille waits outside).
Amma strikes up a friendship with another young girl in Camille's apartment building, Mae, and they grow close quickly; Mae joins Amma and Camille for dinner at Curry's house, where she impresses the news editor with her intelligence, which clearly makes Amma jealous. As the episode wraps up, Mae's mother comes to Camille's door looking for her daughter. Camille tells her that she hasn't seen her, but that she thinks she went swimming with Amma earlier in the day. The girl's mother leaves with a smile, and Camille heads into Amma's bedroom to replace a piece of furniture from the dollhouse that she finds in the garbage.
Unfortunately, as she kneels down to place the tiny piece of furniture back in its place, Camille has the sickening realization that the floor of a bedroom in Amma's dollhouse - which is an exact replica of the Crellin's grand home in Wind Gap - is actually made of human teeth. As Camille stares into the dollhouse in shock and disgust, Amma walks into the bedroom and simply says, "Don't tell Mama." Cue Led Zeppelin's "In the Evening," roll credits.
So, what's the deal? Adora might have been responsible for Marian's death, but Amma clearly murdered, or at least had a hand in murdering, Ann and Natalie. In the book, she kills the girls with the help of her two friends in Wind Gap, Jodes and Kelsey. Amma coerces them into helping her kill Ann and Natalie since she was jealous of the attention they were receiving from her mother, which is also why she kills Mae - she grows furious at how much Camille likes her new friend, who's her classmate in the novel.
While growing up with a mother as evil as Adora drove Camille to take her pain out on her own skin, Amma went in the opposite direction.
Given the abrupt ending of the show, you might be wondering what was up with the pool of Natalie's blood that was found under John's bed in the pool house (and why Chief Vickery wanted to pin the murders on him). Onscreen we never get an answer, but in Flynn's novel, that's where Amma and the other girls hold Natalie hostage for a few days until they decide to kill her and later rip out all her teeth. Book Amma even has a rug in her dollhouse that's made out of human hair.
Flynn never explicitly says what happens to Amma, but it's implied that Camille turns her sister in (as well as Kelsey and Jodes) and starts cutting again. Curry and his wife end up taking her in as their own daughter, caring for her and allowing her to properly heal for the first time.
While growing up with a mother as evil as Adora drove Camille to take her pain out on herself, on her own skin, Amma went in the opposite direction. Obviously Sharp Objects doesn't tie things up as neatly or as concretely in the TV series as Flynn does in her book, and there's still room for the creative forces that be to explore the consequences of Amma's murderous actions in a potential season two. In fact, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June, Flynn said she can totally imagine how the story would continue for Camille and the other characters.
However, both showrunner Marti Noxon and HBO head Casey Bloys have made it clear that this is a one and done situation. "We're not talking about a season two," Noxon said. "This is it, so bask in it while you can." Bloys doubled down on her sentiment, pointing out that "Amy's character is very dark. It's a difficult role for an actress to play. I believe she doesn't want to play that character again, which I completely understand. It's a lot to take on, and without her I just don't see."
HBO has done this song and dance before with Big Little Lies, swearing up and down that it wouldn't do a second season, but the ambiguity of the finale's final few seconds are shocking enough that I can already see fans clamoring for "more, mama." For what it's worth, I hope the network decides to let Sharp Objects end on that last, bleak, horrifying note. For good.
9 Things You Didn't Know About Gina Rodriguez
Not only is Gina Rodriguez an incredibly talented actress and the star of The CW's iconic telenovela, Jane the Virgin, but she's also a passionate advocate for girls' education. Now, she's using her voice to help empower girls and end "period poverty" by teaming up with Always and Feeding America to donate 15 million period products this school year.
While chatting with Gina about the #EndPeriodPoverty campaign, we also spoke with her for our Falling in Love With series. A study on interpersonal closeness by the psychologist Arthur Aron (and others) - which went viral in The New York Times's article "The 36 Questions That Lead to Love" - offered up 36 questions that could potentially deepen the connection between two strangers. We decided to put the questions to the test with some of your favorite celebs to see if a few simple questions could truly make you feel closer to them. Here's what we learned about Gina.
POPSUGAR: What would constitute a "perfect" day for you?
Gina Rodriguez: Waking up after 8 a.m. ideally, so that means my body has to tell me to stay sleeping. That would already start a perfect day! Then probably doing some muay thai with my bestie. Doing something creative, some kind of art - either reading a script or breaking one down to do blocking because I'm directing one. And then a movie and go to sleep early, like 8:30 p.m.
PS: Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
GR: Jesus.
PS: Is there something that you've dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven't you done it?
GR: To be very honest, I have done everything I've dreamt of. I gotta start dreaming some more to be honest, and that's a beautiful blessing. Why haven't I done it? Well, I haven't dreamt it up yet. I need more time to sleep!
PS: Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?
GR: Wouldn't go back. I don't own anything that precious. Let it burn, just possessions.
PS: What is your most treasured memory?
GR: It happened about a month ago and I can't share it. [Editor's note: Gina recently confirmed she got engaged last month!]
PS: When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?
GR: Easily this morning, when I was pooping.
PS: What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
GR: I don't think I've had it yet. And I'm hoping that one day that accomplishment is being a mother.
PS: If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future, or anything else, what would you want to know?
GR: Nothing. I don't wanna know nothing! Don't tell me!
PS: If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
GR: The ability to heal - magically - or I have a doctorate. I'd take a superpower though, happily.

22 Animated Shows on Netflix You'll Love . . . Even If You're a Full-On Adult
We'll be the first to admit we miss waking up on Saturday mornings and spending hours watching cartoons. From SpongeBob SquarePants to Rugrats, it was our favorite animated shows that always gave us something to look forward to. While we might have originally thought adulthood was all about sci-fi fantasy shows and true-crime documentaries, Netflix makes a strong case for the adult animated show. While some of the animated shows leave us laughing so hard our stomachs hurt, others leave us on the edge of our seat. From anime to Netflix originals, there is something for everyone on this list of 22 shows. Some even pack a serious all-star cast.

Princess Eugenie Didn't Need the Queen's OK For Her Wedding - Here's Why
For Princess Eugenie to ascend to the British throne, a whole lot of other people would have to get out of her way first. As the line to the throne stands right now, the soon-to-be-wed princess falls in ninth place, right behind her older sister, Princess Beatrice.
Princess Eugenie is the daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, who is the second son of Queen Elizabeth II. Eugenie's uncle, Prince Charles, is expected to take the throne after Queen Elizabeth, assuming he doesn't turn it down. His eldest son, Prince William, is next in line, followed by all three of William's children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. William's brother, Prince Harry, is next; however, he and the rest of the line will be bumped down if and when Prince George has children of his own. (Yes, adorable little Prince George will eventually grow up to possibly have children who will then ascend to the throne.) As the eldest child of Prince William - the future king - George will see his own eldest child take the spot behind him in the line of succession.
So while Princess Eugenie is currently in the ninth spot on the roster, chances are she'll move farther down the line as the years go on. The good news for her, though, is that she doesn't need the queen's permission to marry the person of her choice. According to the Royal Marriages Act, only the next six people in line for the throne are required to have the queen's signoff on their nuptials, so Eugenie didn't need her grandmother's OK for her upcoming wedding to commoner Jack Brooksbank.
Yes, You Should Definitely Stay For the Credits When You See Crazy Rich Asians
The much-anticipated movie adaptation of Kevin Kwan's bestselling novel Crazy Rich Asians is here, and it definitely lives up to the hype. From the sweet love story to the important Asian representation, the movie is easily one of the best rom-coms of the Summer. While the film is filled with some dramatic moments, one of the most exciting scenes doesn't happen until the very end of the movie. Crazy Rich Asians has a quick midcredits scene that perfectly sets the film up for a potential sequel.
Warning: major spoilers for Crazy Rich Asians ahead.

While the moment seems like a random flirty encounter with a stranger, Shum's character, Charlie Wu, is actually a huge part of the book trilogy.
Long story short, Charlie is Astrid's past love and former fiancé in the books. While his character only has a tiny part in the first film, he would have a larger role if Crazy Rich Asians gets picked up for a sequel. In fact, producer Nina Jacobson revealed that there were originally more scenes between Charlie and Astrid in the film, but they decided to keep it short to leave the audience wanting more.
"We had originally shot more of them together, but what we found when we first started to show the movie to audiences was that, just in terms of screen time, the dissolution of her marriage and then the introduction of this wonderful new guy actually both got short shrift when you rushed it," she explained at a press conference for the film. "You felt like you weren't getting the strength that it took her to walk away from her marriage, but also the hope that you might feel about a new person. And that it wasn't just a rebound."
Fingers crossed that we'll get to see Astrid and Charlie's romance play out in future films!

12 Times Princess Diana Royally Schooled Us in How to Style Denim
We've got a theory that every denim designer right now has a Princess Diana mood board taped to a wall somewhere. This is because every trend dominating runways and stores right now, from mom jeans to overalls, was first worn by the lady of denim herself. Showcasing her love for the fabric, Diana would often opt for a pair of high-waisted jeans on an off-duty day with her sons, later dressing up the style on tours with oversize blazers and boots. Along with classic jeans, her closet featured a selection of denim shirts, even styled with jeans for a full denim-on-denim look on occasion.
This isn't the first time we've acknowledged Diana's outfits being ahead of their time. Her undeniably iconic style still reigns today, from her love of heavy aviator sunglasses that suited her delicate features to her collection of Summer swimsuits that we're all still shopping right now. (Oh, and hell yes she owned Superga sneakers, worn with jeans, of course.) Scroll to be schooled on how to wear denim now, by someone who was styling it royally well 25 years ago.
6 Tasty Cereals That Don't Contain Glyphosate, the Weed-Killing Chemical Linked to Cancer
If this morning's headlines about trace amounts of a cancer-linked weed-killing chemical being found in some breakfast goodies sent you into a mild panic, you're not alone. The new report conducted by the Environmental Working Group identified a number of popular breakfast foods and cereals that might contain higher amounts of the herbicide glyphosate, including Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Quaker Old Fashioned Oats, and more (you can see the full list here).
Before you go into full alarm mode, there are a number of things to remember. Quaker has released a statement suggesting that its products are safe to eat, but if that's not enough to settle your stomach, there are plenty of products on the market that are glyphosate-free. Here are six alternatives.

I Wore Biker Shorts 3 Different Ways, and I Totally Get the Hype Now
I have to admit, when biker shorts first made an appearance on the runways at Off-White, I instantly fell in love with the idea but had no idea how to style them. Even when I saw some of my favorite bloggers and celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner style them, the look still seemed unrealistic.
Yes, I could tell that they are super flattering (because they're stretchy and suck everything in), but how exactly was I supposed to wear them without (a) looking like a total fool and (b) looking like I was about to go for a 50-mile triathlon? Because let's be real - anyone who knows me knows I couldn't even possibly survive two miles.
After getting some inspiration off of Instagram, I decided to put this trend to the test and try three different outfits to see if biker shorts were actually easy to style. I got myself a pair of Good American Biker Shorts ($65) from Six:02 and embarked on my mission of becoming a Kardashian (I kid, I kid.) Read on to see three surprisingly easy ways I styled them.
