Is a Cheater a Cheater Forever? Here's What the Experts Have to Say

Let's say you caught your partner in an affair or they worked up the guts to tell you the truth and let you figure it out from there. (Kudos to them, but still.) Either way, cheating is cheating, and it definitely doesn't feel good to be in the position where your partner betrays your trust and looks elsewhere. The question then is: do you take them back? Is forgiveness an option? To decide, it's worth looking into the idea of a "cheater," and whether or not a cheater is always a cheater and will repeat the behavior without learning from past mistakes. Here's what to know before immediately accepting an apology and continuing on in the relationship.

What Makes a Cheater a Cheater?

There's no definitive answer, as reasons can vary based on the individual and situation. "Research shows that people cheat for a variety of reasons, so it's difficult to pinpoint certain characteristics of all cheaters," David Bennett, a relationship counselor and owner of Double Trust Dating and Relationships, told POPSUGAR. "For example, some people cheat for sexual variety, while others do situationally (such as when intoxicated)," he says. Some may even cheat when a spouse is sick while trying to move on with life and be a better partner when they can at home.

Hormones can play a role, too. "Another indicator of likelihood of cheating is higher testosterone," says Bennett. "So if your partner is more traditionally masculine or has other signs of higher testosterone (such as being in a leadership position), the odds of them being a cheater are increased," he says.

Will a Cheater Always Cheat?

Unfortunately, "Multiple studies have shown that the most reliable quality that indicates a person will cheat is that he or she has cheated in the past," he says. "So, if you know your partner has a history of cheating, I would consider that a good predictor of future behavior," he says.

Yet, situation plays a role, too. "It is possible a cheater may get his or her needs met in the area that led to the cheating, and therefore stop cheating," he says. Or, perhaps the partner they're dating is actually what they're looking for and different from previous relationship. "If your partner has cheated in the past because of attraction issues, then if you're more physically attractive to them, I would say that could lessen their desire to cheat. The same is true if you're emotionally available and your partner cheated in the past because their previous partner was cold and distant," he says.

The problem with this line of thinking, however, is that cheating isn't the fault of the person being cheated on. Even if their previous partners "drove" them to cheat, the person who cheated in the past still made the decision to cheat rather than end the relationship first.

What's more, some motivations for cheating may be difficult to completely eliminate, such as a mere interest in others or the need for new sexual partners. "For example, many people cheat because they want sexual variety, and by its very nature, monogamy will limit this," he says.

On the flip side, it comes from weakness, where others cheat at moments they don't feel loved, he says. "Again, it's unrealistic to expect someone to always feel loved every minute of a relationship. So, while situation does matter, most people will find it hard to avoid all the situations that led to them cheating previously," he explains.

The Takeaway?

Proceed with caution. "I would be very careful getting with someone who has a history of cheating. Research shows people cheat for a variety of reasons and in a lot of different scenarios. Trying to figure out why your partner cheated in the past and working to avoid every possible trigger for them in the future seems like a lot of work, especially since the research is clear that cheaters tend to do it again," he says. If you decide to date a past cheater, be careful, and keep your guard up.

If These 5 Signs Sound Familiar, You're Dating the Wrong Person

If you're in a relationship, you're bound to have some ups and downs, like any average couple, but you can also get the feeling as to whether or not the person you're with could be a potential life partner, based on similarities and overall compatibility in the relationship. Unfortunately, sometimes you're not meant to be with someone for marriage, even if the relationship is fantastic, solely based on a few long-term issues you can predict down the road. Here are a few warning signs that you're not meant to put a ring on your finger for the person you're with, and from there, you can determine how much longer to let the relationship last.

I Had Morning Sex With My Partner Every Day For 1 Week, and Here's What Happened

OK, I'm just going to put it out there - sex is one of the best parts about being an adult. Yes, we have to worry about unexciting things like bills, insurance, and building retirement portfolios, but also, we get to have orgasms. I've always loved getting frisky with my partner. When we first started dating almost six years ago, we just couldn't get enough of each other, especially in the bedroom. We were long-distance for the first 16 months of our relationship, so whenever we saw each other in person, we clearly had to make up for lost time.

Once we moved in together, the regularity continued. The vast majority of our days either began or ended (or sometimes both - heyo!) with each other. But over time, it slowly became less frequent, particularly in the mornings.

And let me say this - I don't buy the hackneyed aphorism "the honeymoon phase ends." What actually happens is, you know, real life. We have careers and responsibilities, and sometimes we're just too damn tired to get down. It doesn't mean the excitement has faded; in fact, the deeper our connection grows, the stronger my attraction to him becomes. We still frequently rendezvous at night, but I realized that in our morning routine, we regularly traded getting physical for a few additional minutes of sleep. So, we made a pact to have morning sex every day for a full week - 6 a.m. wake-up calls or not - to see how it affected us and if it was a groove we could get back into.

If you're also not a morning person - less coffee, more sex!

Realization number one: morning sex is incredibly energizing. As someone who's not a morning person in the slightest (another cup of coffee, please?), I relish in those extra 20 minutes I can roll around in bed. But I found that when I rolled around for different reasons, it was actually easier to pull myself out of bed each day. It jump-started my heart rate, equivalent to starting my morning with a short aerobic workout (but a lot more fun than 50 jumping jacks - just saying). I instantly felt more invigorated and focused, as did he. Thus, I concluded, if you're also not a morning person - less coffee, more sex!

My partner and I both began our days in noticeably great moods, as well. In fact, I found that we were more playful with each other while getting ready in the mornings, much like we were when we first moved in together. Most days, we took our showers together rather than separately and continued to kiss and flirt throughout the morning until we parted for the day. Science backs me up here; research shows that sex releases oxytocin (aka the cuddle hormone), a feel-good chemical in our brains that makes us feel more gleeful and closer to our partners. So by getting a healthy dose of the chemical first thing in the a.m., we began each day on a high note. But, full disclosure here, it's not like our morning romp was a magical antidote to end all grievances. There were still times throughout the week when one of us was in an irritable mood, and at times we bickered back and forth. We live together, and we're human. But we both acknowledged that by getting intimate in the early morning, we did feel more connected to each other as the day went on.

I'll admit there were two days during the week when I was really tempted to sleep through the sex sesh. I had one particularly early morning and one particularly late night (damn margaritas), and those extra 20 minutes of sleep sounded really appetizing. Still, we did the deed both mornings, and I found that once I pushed through the fatigue and got started, I was so happy that I did. I thought to myself, "Why in the world would I rather sleep than do this?"

"Let's just keep this going forever," we laughed to each other about halfway into the week. On the eighth day, we hit the snooze button. But on the ninth? We were back at it again.

While it's easy to get hung up on the latest trend or the season's It bags, style really isn't something that can be bought. Why It Took Queen Elizabeth II 5 Days to Publicly Address Princess Diana's Death

It's been 21 years Princess Diana's fatal car accident in Paris, and the upcoming anniversary of her death has sparked renewed interest in the tragic event. When news broke that Diana had died in August 1997, Queen Elizabeth II was highly criticized for the way she handled the situation. Many accused her of failing to capture the mood of the nation and faulted her for being aloof in the days following her former daughter-in-law's passing. The queen conveyed a "business-as-usual" message by taking Diana's sons, Prince William and Prince Harry (who were 15 and 12, respectively, at the time), to church at Balmoral in Scotland hours after Prince Charles had broken the news to them. She was also criticized for remaining at her Scotland residence for too long, failing to appear at tributes near Buckingham Palace, and not returning quickly enough to London.

However, according to the queen's first cousin and close friend Margaret Rhodes, the queen's choice to temporarily abandon the people was due to her overwhelming concern for the welfare of her grandchildren, William and Harry. In an interview with CNN back in 2012, Margaret came to the queen's defense, saying, "She was castigated . . . for staying up at Balmoral with the two little boys. She was being a proper granny. What was the point of bringing the boys down to sit in London with nothing to do but sit there feeling sad about mum. Personally, I think I would have behaved in exactly the same way."

It was only when then-Prime Minister Tony Blair intervened that Elizabeth came back to London and acknowledged the public's outpouring of grief. "She made it all right in the end by coming down and looking at all the flowers," Margaret stated. Five days after Diana's death, Elizabeth delivered a live address to the people of England from the Chinese Dining Room at Buckingham Palace. She paid tribute to Diana, calling her "an exceptional and gifted human being," and explained her reason for being at Balmoral, saying, "This week at Balmoral, we have all been trying to help William and Harry come to terms with the devastating loss that they and the rest of us have suffered." She ended her speech with a touching statement: "May those who died rest in peace and may we, each and every one of us, thank God for someone who made many, many people happy." Lady Gaga's Fashion 360 in Paris will Give You Whiplash

Lady Gaga arrived in Paris with boyfriend Christian Carino and immediately kicked off what promises to be a fashion tour de force. In the span of a single day she transformed from a midi-dress wearing lady who lunches to a slick, high-fashion club kid like that.

For her first look, Gaga was the picture of retro elegance. She stepped out in a ladylike red tie-neck midi dress from CO's fall collection, finishing off her vintage-inspired outfit with Lorraine Schwartz earrings, Kuboraum cat eye sunglasses, and a black leather Balenciaga handbag. Seemingly having had enough of the retro-ladylike vibe, she then flipped the script entirely, changing into a glossy electric blue trench, complete with metallic green bra and platform boots. Don't you dare try to pigeon hole this fashion chameleon.

As for us, we're fans of both looks - and we're suddenly acutely feeling the lack of vinyl outerwear in our wardrobes. If you're with us, check out both of Gaga's Parisian outfits from every angle, then shop lookalike versions for yourself.

Here's a Truly Incredible Story About Princess Diana at a Michael Jackson Concert

There are a ton of fascinating facts about Princess Diana's life, but some of my personal favorites are the ones that prove just how normal and fun-loving she was. Prince Harry recently revealed that his mom would even encourage silly behavior in him, saying that one of her mottos was, "You can be as naughty as you want; just don't get caught." And this story that I heard (while on my couch, drinking wine, in a rabbit hole of Diana videos on the internet) made me further realize that she was "The People's Princess" for a reason - despite her royal title, she was surprisingly relatable in her thoughts, actions, and interests.

Along with being a big admirer of the princess, I also happen to be a huge Michael Jackson fan, and the story of their first meeting put a huge smile on my face. In 1988, Diana and Prince Charles attended the London concert of Michael's Bad World Tour at Wembley Stadium. Before the show, the couple stopped backstage to meet the superstar and his staff. In an interview, Michael recalled that Diana called him away from the lineup to ask if he would be performing his 1987 hit "Dirty Diana." He replied, "No no, I took the song out of the show out of respect for you," - which makes sense, given that it's about a man-hungry groupie - but apparently, Diana had other ideas. "That's my favorite song!" she told Michael, to which he expressed his disbelief.

"At that point, I couldn't put it back into the show because it was too close to showtime," Michael said. Can we all just agree that the thought of Diana bopping in her seat to "Dirty Diana" is pretty incredible? As the conversation between the two went on, Charles became intrigued and walked up to them, asking, "What are you talking about?" Diana, being the badass that she was, replied, "Oh, nothing!" and walked off.

The princess had an affinity for popular music and counted artists like Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and George Michael as close friends. She and Michael forged a relationship as well, and the King of Pop admitted that she would often call him just to talk. They built a strong connection and bonded over their tumultuous upbringings, exploding fame, and experiences with the press (they were both massive tabloid fodder at the time). When Diana tragically passed away in August 1997, just days after Michael's birthday, he attended her funeral and went on to call her "one of the sweetest people I've ever known."

Christina Aguilera Talks About Being "Pitted" Against Britney Spears in the Early 2000s

Ladies (move), gentlemen (move)! Christina Aguilera is opening up about her alleged feud with Britney Spears, so strap on your time machines and get ready to go back to the early 2000s. In the cover story of Cosmopolitan's October issue, the 37-year-old superstar talked about everything from her beef with Britney to how it relates to her reinvented and stripped-down look. It's not the first time Christina has embraced a "makeover," as she referenced in the interview, but last time, it was interpreted as a stark contrast to fellow star Britney.

Back in 2002, Christina dyed her hair black and teamed up with Redman to release "Dirrty" from her Stripped album. Christina recalled the song being compared to Britney's "I'm a Slave 4 U," and how both songs painted an unrealistic (and very sexy) picture of the two singers. "It's hard to hear yourself being called names. I remember being hurt by these commercials on MTV, pitting Britney as the good girl and me as the bad girl. It's like, if I'm going to be demure and innocent, that's okay. But if I'm going to just be myself, I'm trouble."

"I love the female body, and I think it's something to be proud of, not something that men should dictate ownership of," she added. "'Dirrty' was extremely controversial at the time, but it would be nothing now. I hope I paved the way and helped set the ground rules that women can be any version of themselves they wanna be. . . and proud of it."

Britney and Christina were both childhood members of the Mickey Mouse Club and had similar career paths following the TV show. In 2000, the two presented an award together at the MTV Video Music Awards. Then, following the release of both "Dirrty" and "I'm a Slave 4 U," Christina and Britney performed with Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, where those unforgettable on-stage smooches took place. Read on to see photos of Christina and Britney during those iconic 2000s appearances together.

PSA: Just Because I Started Working Out More Doesn't Mean I'm "Sweating For the Wedding"

There's no denying that planning your wedding is a big, exciting ordeal. First, there's the engagement - which is awesome - usually followed by months and months of looking at venues, dresses, flowers, you name it. And while the entire process has definitely been memorable for me so far, there's one aspect of being engaged that's beginning to grind my gears: constantly being asked how my shredding for the wedding is going.

On one hand, I get it. About a year after I got engaged, I started to take fitness - and my overall health - way more f*cking seriously. Why? Because my 25th year of life definitely wasn't my healthiest, and as a former college athlete, that didn't sit well with me. I don't really have a reason for why I lost sight of my fitness goals - I was somehow still under the impression that I could eat whatever I wanted without working out consistently. Boy, was I wrong.

Then came the string of empty truths.

I promised myself I would commit to the gym five or six days a week in September, and then again on Jan. 1, and then again in March - my excuses always outweighed my drive. I would go on a three-mile run a few times a week, do some crunches, and call it day. But that just wasn't cutting it.

I was too busy. It was too cold. I didn't feel like it. I thought I deserved that second glass of wine after a long week.

But right before I turned 26 in June, I'll admit I had a bit of a midlife crisis. For some inexplicable - and completely irrational - reason, I felt like there was this humongous difference between the ages and 25 and 26. I suddenly had the overwhelming feeling I was falling behind on the long-term goals I had set out for myself and that I was treading water.

I wasn't waking up at 5 a.m. just so I could look good in a few pictures nine months from now. It was bigger than that.

Combined with the task of planning a wedding, I knew I needed to get more organized ASAP. And as someone who always found solace in exercise, the gym seemed like a good enough place to start. The real challenge? Staying consistent.

After sucking it up and committing to the gym five or six days a week, hiring a personal trainer, and living off chicken and veggies for most of my meals, my body slowly started to change. My mood, however, changed faster. I kissed my anxiety buh-bye (for the most part), started sleeping better, and had more energy a week or two after I started getting serious about weightlifting.

I'm not going to lie . . . it was also nice to get the occasional compliment from one of my aunts or a college friend who I hadn't seen in a while - I was still far from rail thin - but I felt a heck of a lot stronger. But what bothered me was always the inevitable follow-up remark about how great it was that I was "sweating for the wedding."

While I completely understand that the timing of it all seems suspicious and that many other couples tend to pump iron a little bit more before their big day, I wasn't waking up at 5 a.m. just so I could look good in a few pictures nine months from now. It was bigger than that.

I firmly believe that working out and eating well is a lifestyle, and while hitting the weight room religiously for nine months straight is great, it won't do me much good if I stop going the day after I get married.

My fiancé has started joining me at the gym. It's truly something we enjoy doing together. And there are loads of benefits to being in shape. (He's definitely not complaining!) First and foremost, I work out for my own sanity and well-being. It makes me a better partner.

The bottom line? The added perks of working out are great, and I'm looking forward to feeling my best on the day of the wedding. But to assume a woman is simply "shredding" or "sweating" for the sake of one day is pretty crazy, if you really think about it. So the next time it comes up in convo, give the bride-to-be the benefit of the doubt - it's not always about squeezing into a smaller dress size!

The 10 Best Proteins For Kids, According to a Nutritionist

As parents, you always want to make sure you're feeding your kids good and healthy foods to fuel their growing bodies and minds. And one of the best ways to do that is with protein. But with so many proteins out there, it can feel a little overwhelming when trying to decide which ones are best. POPSUGAR spoke to Frances Largeman-Roth, nutritionist, author of Eating in Color: Delicious, Healthy Recipes For You and Your Family, and mom of three, about the importance of protein in your family meal planning. "One thing to keep in mind regarding protein is to vary your protein sources to get an array of nutrients," she explained. "For example, dairy products contain potassium and calcium, while meats are rich in iron and zinc, and seafood is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. Try to rotate the proteins your kids eat so that they're getting a variety each week."

Part of making sure kids grow up to be healthy and strong is giving them a variety of foods. "Lots of people know that protein is essential for muscle growth, which is vital for kids' growing bodies, but it's also essential for their bones, cartilage, skin, and blood," Largeman-Roth continued. "Kids need protein for muscle growth and repair, especially after intense exercise. Protein helps to mend the microtears that happen to active muscles. It's also essential for a good immune system, and healthy hair, skin, and nails." So, which proteins should you go with? Keep reading for the top 10 proteins for kids, ranked.

Dedivanovic previously collaborated with Kardashian for her KKW Beauty line. He's also partnered with Anastasia Beverly Hills on a custom eye shadow palette in the past. Now, after 20 years in the industry, he's channeling his expertise into a collection of his own. "I felt like I needed to have at least 20 years of experience as an artist to do that," Dedivanovic told the publication. "I'm on almost 19 years now of being a makeup artist, so that 20-year mark is approaching."

Like most things in life, creating a makeup line is a process, and Dedivanovic won't release products until he gets it right. "I'm a perfectionist," he said. "People expect something great from me, and I expect something great from myself. I've had a couple of opportunities that I walked away from - I mean multi-, multi-, multimillion-dollar deals that I've walked away from - because in the end, during the contractual period and attorneys and all that, I didn't get what I wanted. Walked away literally from gazillions of dollars."

Though Dedivanovic has already begun conceptualizing his line, he shared that he is still on the hunt for a business partner to make it happen and often receives offers from investors. But being the perfectionist he is, Dedivanovic doesn't plan on rushing his cosmetic line. "I like the old-fashioned way of struggling, paying your dues, and slowly reaching a little bit of success, a little bit at a time. With the makeup line, it's the same thing. I'm not in a rush."

Only time will tell when it comes to exactly what his upcoming collection will look like, but we probably won't be the only ones to say that our cheekbones are ready.

These Are the Heels I've Willingly Stood in All Day Long

There's something about wearing a pair of heels that just makes you feel put together; sadly, they're pretty rough on your feet. So usually, my days are spent in sneakers, flat boots, or sandals, just because I can't stand to be uncomfortable. Still, when I stumbled on these Sam Edelman Sammy Sandals ($120), I had to bring them home, planning on them being more of a special-occasion shoe.

One morning, I decided to wear them to brunch, thinking I'd be back home in a couple of hours. But brunch turned into running a few errands and then heading to a party, and before I knew it, I was at dinner. Between walking around New York City all day long and standing at parties, during happy hours, and on the subway, my feet never got achy or sore.

I think Sam Edelman shoes are some of the most comfortable out there, but I was really impressed with this adorable pair. The straps don't dig into my feet and actually keep me feeling secure. They also come in a sandy color, but I love the black, because they'll seamlessly transition to Fall. Suffice it to say, if you're on your feet all day but still want to rock your heels, you have to try these.

Pick Out Your Outfit in Advance - and 4 Other Rules the World's Most Stylish Women Swear By

The good - and sometimes frustrating thing - about working in fashion is the fact that you're constantly surrounded by really well-dressed women. It can be awe-inspiring and downright infuriating, but that's the truth. As such, I've spent a lot of my time in the industry studying their looks and, well, just asking a lot of questions about their outfits and their sense of style. The conversations over the years have led to one fundamental truth. It doesn't matter the age of the woman, what she does, or even how much money she has to spend on her wardrobe. The most stylish women in the room have one thing in common: they always stay true to their personal style.

Stay True to Your Personal Style

It sounds simple, but your personal style is what distinguishes the best dressed women in the room from everyone else. It's not the trends and not the expensive handbag they're carrying, but how the outfit highlights the woman who's wearing it. These women have a keen sense of what looks good on their body types, what colors highlight their complexion, what shoes are cool but also practical, and what look best suits the occasion. They're thoughtfully in tune with their fashion sense daily, and that strong sense of identity guides them when they're choosing an outfit for everything from a weekend getaway to a high-stakes business dinner.

Serena Williams Hit Back at Her Bodysuit Ban by Wearing - What Else? - a Badass Tutu

Just a few days after news broke that Serena Williams was banned from wearing her signature Nike bodysuit at the French Open [*insert eye-roll here*], she took the court at the 2018 US Open rocking the absolute hell out of a tutu like the backhand-smashing queen she is. During her first match against Polish tennis player Magda Linette, Serena debuted a custom outfit by Off-White founder Virgil Abloh in collaboration with Nike: an asymmetrical black-and-brown dress with a tulle tutu-esque skirt, which she paired with some silver, glittery sneakers. It was the perfect mix of power and grace, and the 36-year-old athlete and mom looked like a total badass in the getup.

Earlier this month, Serena chatted with Vogue about how she felt when she first tried on her US Open dress. "I felt so feminine in the tutu, which is probably my favorite part of it," she said. "It really embodies what I always say: that you can be strong and beautiful at the same time." Ain't that the truth?! Read on to see a few photos of Serena dominating the court in her fierce tutu, followed by some passionate tweets from fans who were living for her bold fashion statement.

Want to Try the Whole30 Diet? Here's Everything You Can and Cannot Eat

With so many diets out there today, it can be overwhelming choosing the right nutrition regimen for yourself. If you're not sure which one to go with, the Whole30 plan might be a good place to start since it's only a 30-day commitment. The goal of the Whole30 diet is to eliminate certain food groups that might have a negative effect on your health - not just weight - from mysterious aches to chronic fatigue. Then, after the 30 days are up, you'll hopefully have a better idea of which foods you should permanently cut out and which ones you can reintroduce to your diet.

Unlike many diets that focus on eating less, the Whole30 diet emphasizes eating healthier, which might make it the most sustainable diet yet.

Chris Hemsworth Is Terrifying - and Shirtless - in the Bad Times at the El Royale Trailer

Did God herself cast Bad Times at the El Royale? Because this thriller is seriously stacked with talent. Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, and Nick Offerman play a group of strangers who find themselves clashing at the titular creepy hotel, owned by Jon Hamm. According to the film's description, "Over the course of one fateful night, secrets are unearthed, and everyone will have a last shot at redemption before everything goes to hell." Apparently "hell" is code for "Chris Hemsworth shirtless," judging from the new, intense trailer, which you can check out above before it hits theaters on Oct. 12.

Every Time I Want to Give Up on My Marriage, I Fall Back in Love With My Husband

I fell in love with my husband about 13 years ago, pretty much right when I met him, or at least very early on. He was charming, nice, kind, considerate, and he loved me. Those things are all still true, but over the course of our relationship, I have fallen in love with him a million more times. This usually happens after I've fallen out of love with him, or more accurately, us, after I'm sure it would be far easier to just give up and walk away, because marriage with kids is way too hard. Then he'll go and make me fall deeper in love with him than ever, and I'm so thankful we have fought our way through the toughest of times and found our love for each other again and again.

I'd like to say that feeling that maybe things would be easier if we split up started after we had children, but I'm not sure it's true. Once we had responsibilities like a house, a car, and then, eventually, kids, being together just got incrementally harder. The stakes were higher, things were more complicated. And I'd feel frustrated at times, resentful at others. I'm doing everything anyway. Why are we even together? In fits of anger, I've even told him I want a divorce. I've been pretty sure I mean it, too.

Over the course of our relationship, I have fallen in love with him a million more times. This usually happens after I've fallen out of love with him.

Luckily, my man hasn't been willing to give up on us. That's the secret sauce, I think. One person in the relationship has to call you on your crap. They have to say, "No, we aren't getting divorced. We are going to work on our marriage. What we have here is too special and it's worth protecting." Essentially, one person has to stay rational when the other person freaks out.

Once I've cooled off and worked through my feelings of discontent about marriage being friggin' impossible is usually when the falling back in love is about to happen. It's usually a short time later that I look over at the man who stuck by me when I said horrible things and acted like a child that I realize how amazing he is. How I could search for the rest of my life and never find another guy who is half the man he is. How I am so damn lucky to be with him, and how my love for him and the family we built together is bigger than moments of irritation over him working long hours or forgetting to take out the recycling. Again.

Don't get me wrong - when I'm truly in a place where I'm upset, resentful, and totally over his BS (maybe I've heard him say one too many times he'll call the exterminator with no results), it seems impossible we'll ever be happy again. How can I watch him lounging on the couch, unshowered, with some stinky cocktail for one more night without losing it? How can I put the kids to bed another time, all by myself, and stand to look at him when he walks in the door once it's all done? There's no way we'll ever get on the same page about minor issues like the state of the garage (a mess), or major ones, such as how we've handled grief in the wake of our late-term pregnancy loss.

And it's not that those marital matters ever go away. It's just that eventually, I see them kind of like patches in a quilt, surrounded on all sides by other beautiful, breathtaking, and overwhelmingly rewarding and meaningful patches. Marriage is made up of the worst and the best, just like it says in the vows.

Funny thing is, I didn't take it too seriously when I stood next to my husband on my wedding day and promised to love him no matter what, but you better believe I've since learned the significance of those words. We've faced death, disappointment, and the destruction of our lives at the hands of Mother Nature together. We have also dreamed, celebrated, and triumphed together. Our love has been tested many times, and I have no doubt it will be tested in the future. It's no wonder I've hated him, taken frustrations out on him, and been positive our marriage would never survive. But he's my best friend, my rock, the father of my children, my co-parent, my sounding board, my biggest cheerleader, my everything. So it's also easy to understand why I am more in love with him and our lives together today than the day we met. And why I'll endure the seasons of our love until I'm in the ground.

Kelly Clarkson's Knockout US Open Performance Was Basically an Audition For the Super Bowl

How has Kelly Clarkson never performed during the Super Bowl halftime show? The question crossed many people's minds after the 36-year-old singer delivered a stellar performance at the 2018 US Open. Wearing a silver fringe dress, Kelly performed a medley of hits, including "Since U Been Gone," "Heartbeat Song," and "Walk Away."

Despite the fact that Kelly is about as American as, well, the Super Bowl, she's only performed during the sporting event once when she sang the National Anthem in 2012. Now, fans have started a social media campaign calling for Kelly to be chosen as the performer at the next Super Bowl in Atlanta on Feb. 3, 2019. Pepsi has, in the past, announced halftime show performers in September and October, so hopefully they're taking note for future halftime shows, if not for next year.

Serena Williams Wore Her Queen-Inspired Collection to the US Open - Let the Jaw Dropping Commence

Serena Williams has turned the tennis courts into her own personal catwalk more times than we can count. And for this year's US Open, the sports superwoman took her look to the next level, hitting the tournament in a head-to-toe Virgil Abloh-designed Nike outfit that included a tutu and sparkly sneakers. Because, of course.

Just days after the French Open banned her badass black catsuit from earlier this year, Williams brushed her shoulders off and slayed the style game anyway, rocking an ensemble from the style world's biggest star. She entered the stadium wearing a top-stitched black bomber jacket over a black one-shoulder dress with tulle skirt, and let the jaw dropping commence. The finishing touch? Nike Court Flare 2 sneakers from Virgil Abloh's Serena-inspired "Queen Collection" for Nike (they're emblazoned with "SERENA" on one sole and "QUEEN" on the other).

Ban be damned, Serena scored a fashion win at her opening match (oh, and she defeated her tennis opponent, too). See her excellence in it's entirety ahead.

Obsessed With Starbucks' PSL? Here's How to Hack It So It's Healthier

When cool breezes blow, you've got one thing on the brain: a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Before heading into your local Starbucks to wrap your hands around a warm cup of spiced goodness, here are some ways you can order to make it a little healthier.

A 16-ounce Grande made with two-percent milk and topped with whipped cream will run you 380 calories. Let that sink in for a sec. OK, now here's how to save some calories from that standard order:

  • Order a Short PSL instead of a Grande: saves 170 calories
  • Order a Tall PSL instead of a Grande: saves 80 calories
  • Order with almond milk: saves 80 calories
  • Skip the whipped cream: saves 70 calories
  • Order with nonfat milk: saves 50 calories
  • Order with coconut milk: saves 40 calories

You can also cut down on calories and sugar by ordering fewer pumps of pumpkin syrup. One pump of pumpkin spice syrup adds around 30 calories and 7.5 grams of sugar; a Grande drink has four pumps of pumpkin spice syrup, so the standard order has 120 calories and 30 grams of sugar in syrup alone! If you order half the number of pumps, you'll save 60 calories and 15 grams of sugar.

A quick warning on the PSL: If you're avoiding dairy, skip this holiday offering altogether. The signature pumpkin spice syrup contains condensed milk! Good thing you could make a healthier version of your beloved PSL at home that's completely dairy-free. Holidays are saved!

The Walking Dead: The Whisperers Get Their Beta in Sons of Anarchy Alum Ryan Hurst

As everyone knows in the world of The Walking Dead, when one villain goes down, several more take their place. With season nine beginning after a time jump and Negan being properly neutralized, someone has to take on the role of the season's big bad. According to The Wrap, Sons of Anarchy star Ryan Hurst has taken on that honor, and he's bringing a whole heap of trouble with him. Hurst will play Beta, second in command of the Whispers, a group of survivors who cover themselves in the skin of walkers to blend in with the dead.

In the comics, Beta is a powerful force of nature who plays an integral part in what becomes the Whisperer War. He's known for guarding his identity with a mask made from human flesh that drapes over the top half of his head, leaving his nose and mouth visible. We're not sure how much of Beta's original arc from the comics will play out onscreen, but we are excited to see how the Whisperers shake up the Alexandria and Hilltop gangs. Hurst joins new series regular Samantha Morton, who will play Whisperers leader Alpha, and Ozark's Cassady McClincy, who was recently cast to play Lydia, Alpha's daughter.

I'm Obsessed With Swimsuits, So I've Been Wearing Mine to Work - Can You Tell?

Everyone who knows me knows I love the beach. I would live among the waves if I could, and trade my entire wardrobe for swimsuits. I am constantly thinking about booking my next vacation, and you can bet it'll be to someplace warm. I think you probably get the picture, but just to drive my point home: in an ideal world, I live makeup-free with salt in my hair and zero knowledge about things like blow dryers and hairspray.

So, after my Caribbean cruise in May and my annual family trip to Hilton Head Island, SC, in August, I solemnly called out to Summer, "Wait, hang on! Don't go!" As a fashion editor, there was only one way I could extend my getaway, while also still showing up to work: keep my swimsuits on rotation. For one week, I challenged myself to style a swimsuit over/under all my clothes. It felt great. I was comfortable, and every time I looked down at myself, I was graced with a memory of the time and place I last wore the bikini or maillot in question.

While this was fun for me at first, and I instantly dreamed up a few separates I could coordinate with my favorite two-piece (that new oversize blazer I just bought!), I was running out of ideas by day three. I had to get a little inventive, but hopefully you'll be able to take these styling tips to task one day of the week at the very least. If not, you can just shop the designs I love so much - as most of them are still available - and wear them alone next time you're poolside or hanging under the palm trees.

Yours truly,
Sarah the Mermaid
