Newly Pregnant Meghan Markle Inquired About the Zika Virus Before Traveling With Prince Harry
There's another royal baby on the way! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they are expecting their first child together right as they embarked on a 16-day tour of Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and Tonga. But like many pregnant women, or women trying to get pregnant, Meghan reportedly did thorough research about the safety of traveling during the early stages of her pregnancy. According to People, "the royal couple has reportedly sought medical advice about the [Zika] virus, which can cause serious birth defects, including microcephaly."
While Zika has been detected in both Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga (which currently has a level two alert), experts have issued plenty of ways for pregnant women to prevent being infected. "The advice would be to wear a repellent which contains an active ingredient and wear that repellent all day and all evening," the Head of the Department of Disease Control at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine told People. "You have to put the repellent on like a hand cream. You have to really rub it in. If you squirt it on like a perfume, that won't do anything because the mosquito will find a bit that's not covered. A spray or a lotion is fine but really rub it in and reapply it often. There are four active ingredients, one of the main ones is DEET and it's safe to use that during pregnancy." He also suggested wearing baggy clothes, long sleeves, and light-colored clothing.
According to a Royal Correspondent for the Daily Mail, the couple has not made any changes to their travel schedule, and though Meghan may choose to sit out some previously scheduled activities, they will be enjoying this 16-day tour together as planned.
A spokesman said there is no change to their programme in Fiji and Tonga next week despite FCO advice that pregnant women should not travel to the region because of its moderate zika risk.
They said they had sought medical and advice and decided to go ahead with their plans.- Rebecca English (@RE_DailyMail) October 15, 2018

Hilary Duff Just Ate a Salad Famous For Inducing Labor, So Let's See What Happens, Folks
Hilary Duff is ready to meet her baby girl. The Younger actress, who is expecting her second child - her first with boyfriend Matthew Koma - any day now has turned to a pizza place with a famous labor-inducing salad to get the ball rolling. "This salad is supposed to make you go into labor," Hilary wrote in an Instagram Story. "Caioti Pizza, don't let me down."
There are several ways to attempt to induce labor, like dancing, having sex, or eating a whole pineapple, but this magical salad is definitely a little more niche. From Caioti Pizza Café in LA, "The Salad" is a mix of tossed romaine and watercress with walnuts and gorgonzola, but the moneymaker is allegedly the restaurant's balsamic vinegarette dressing, which is the element said to get contractions going.
"We've never claimed that 'The Salad' actually induces labor," Cindy LaDou, owner of Caioti Pizza Café, told LA Weekly. "But, as my husband used to say . . . it helps."
Here's hoping it helps Hilary - we can't wait to meet this little babe!

The Best Beauty Looks From Every A Star Is Born Film
The latest iteration of A Star Is Born, starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, is getting a ton of attention for the pair's outstanding performances. But if you haven't seen the original instalments, it's time to see how the female lead has evolved throughout the four movies.
During the original 1937 installment starring Janet Gaynor, Esther personifies Hollywood glamour. The next version in 1954 stars Judy Garland with some high, skinny brows that would make '90s Kate Moss jealous. Barbra Streisand took the reins in 1976 and wore big curls and sparkly eye shadow, while 2018's Lady Gaga switched up her hair colour, as well as the character's name - now Ally.
See the looks ahead.
This Is What Every Single Attachment in the Dyson Airwrap Complete Does to Your Hair
If you're deep inside a research hole trying to figure out if the new Dyson Airwrap Complete is worth its hefty $550 price tag, crawl out, because I'm about to show you exactly what each of the styling attachments that come in the kit did to my fine, straight hair.
Before I go there, let's dive a bit into the science behind the new all-in-one tool, which promises to give you "voluminous curls, natural waves and smooth blow-dry finishes at home." A motor inside the Dyson Airwrap's wand (the same one used in Dyson's Supersonic hair dryer) creates a high-speed stream of hot air that is then distributed through small openings in each of the attachments in what Dyson calls the Coanda effect. This air dries hair as it styles it, minimizing heat damage from using several tools. The Airwrap even self-checks its temperature up to 40 times a second, according to the brand, to make sure it doesn't get too hot.
Pretty cool, but does it work? Yes. Read ahead to see exactly what it does and how it does it.
Deciem Stores to Reopen as Founder Is Ousted
After a week of uncertainty, Deciem stores will reopen and Brandon Truaxe will be stepping down from his co-chief executive role. The company, best known for its skincare line The Ordinary, had been experiencing trouble after Truaxe announced via a now-removed Instagram that the stores would be temporarily shut down and accused the company of criminal activity.
Minority investor Estée Lauder asked a judge to have Truaxe removed from the Deciem board of directors and replaced by co-CEO Nicola Kilner in the interim. Ontario Superior Court Judge Michael Penny sided with the cosmetic giant, barring the former CEO from posting to Instagram on behalf of the brand, something he frequently did. He also granted Estée Lauder's request for PWC to investigate Truaxe's allegations.
Truaxe took over the brand's social media in January and has since used it to post complicated and confusing messages to customers, as well as to fire employees and sever business ties.
According to WWD, the Deciem website is back up and running, and stores are expected to reopen soon.

I Haven't Broken Out in 6 Months Thanks to These 4 Products
I've struggled with mild acne all through my 20s. While it's never been severe enough to visit a dermatologist regularly, it's definitely been significant enough to affect my confidence over the years. The more I struggled with it, the more I turned to products to fix the problem.
I think most people would agree with me when I say that the road to a clear complexion is paved with products. It's about trial and error - slapping on different ingredients, formulas, and product types from various brands to see what sticks, and this method worked well enough for me. But, after a particularly bad reaction to a new product earlier this year, I decided I needed to take an entirely different approach to skincare. I eliminated nearly everything from my twice-daily, multi-step routine to let my skin recover, and then I started from scratch.
It's been six months, and my skin has never looked better. After a month-long recovery period in which I used no skincare products save for a very basic cleanser and moisturizer, I consulted with professionals to help me work my way up to a new (and much simpler) regimen that would help keep breakouts at bay. Ahead are the key practices and products that helped me finally achieve the complexion I've been longing for, as well as the tips I gleaned from dermatologists, estheticians, and fellow skincare enthusiasts along the way.
Cardi B Couldn't Find a Hairbrush, So She Improvised in the Best Way
Cardi B is pretty accustomed to making a way when there's not a way. We've seen her improvise and use an actual iron to straighten her hair when a flat iron wasn't available, so it didn't come as a shock to us when the 26-year-old rapper couldn't find a brush for her hair and decided to use the next best thing: a fork. On Monday morning, Cardi's hairstylist, Tokyo Stylez, shared an Instagram video of the genius hack. The short clip shows Cardi rocking a dark, bone-straight, waist-length wig that she's seen gently stroking with a plastic fork, as one obviously does when a comb or hairbrush is nowhere to be found.
Cardi's weekend has been pretty hectic. Aside from spending the last couple of days celebrating her 26th birthday with her husband, Offset, she later made a surprise appearance at Drake and Migos's tour stop in Los Angeles on Sunday night. With so much on her plate, who really has time to dig around for a hairbrush when there's a fork that'll do the job just as well? Gotta love a queen who knows how to improvise.
Is Your Halloween Glow-in-the-Dark Makeup Actually Ruining Your Skin?
Anyone who's ever experienced that surge of excitement every time the lights went off on Room Raiders knows: things are infinitely more fun when they glow in the dark - including makeup. (Though that certainly won't be what motivates you to wash your sheets.)
The only problem? It ranks right up there with Halloween's other biggest joys - eating cauldrons of Kit Kats and guzzling down a bunch of zombie punches, obviously - in that it can do a number on your skin, especially if it's sensitive. "In Halloween makeup, there are two types of glow effects: fluorescent and luminescent," dermatologist Dr. Sejal Shah, MD, said. The former is what you might think of when you see neon or "day glow" products, she says, which can contain a number of additives that can cause reactions. The worst offender, though, is luminescent cosmetics, since there is only one ingredient FDA-approved for limited topical use (more on that later).
"The other issue with glow-in-the-dark makeup is that these are often comedogenic, meaning they have the potential to worsen acne-prone skin," added dermatologist Dr. Curtis Asbury, MD. Before you grab your black light, here's everything you need to know about the stuff - because getting lit on Halloween only works if you don't feel the burn on your face.
I Curled My Hair With the New $550 Dyson Airwrap, and Here’s What I Really Think
The saying goes "you always want what you can't have," and in my hair's case, that's true. I love wearing it wavy, but my hair is superfine and usually lays flat and straight unless curled into submission with a hot tool. For that reason, I don't get to wear it in my preferred style every day. If I did, it'd be totally fried and damaged from all the heat.
When I heard of the new Dyson Airwrap and how it promised to curl hair by using air instead of extreme heat, I immediately volunteered to test the futuristic tool. Was I about to rock Olivia Palermo messy waves every day forever? Not exactly. While the wand and its curling attachments certainly work (and there's cool technology behind why), there are a few things you should know before you invest $550 in the new hair tool. This was my experience, ahead.

Camila Cabello Smooches Dylan Sprouse in Her Sentimental Music Video For "Consequences"
Just one day after dominating the American Music Awards, Camila Cabello has released the official music video for "Consequences," the same song she performed onstage during the show. The two share a few sweet kisses, play piano together, and share a dance in midair before Cabello plops on a bench and tearfully reflects on her heartbreak. Watch the entire sentimental video above - but we suggest grabbing a box of tissues first because it's sure to leave you feeling a bit emotional.

Your First Look at a Piece From the Victoria Secret's x Mary Katrantzou Collection
For the second year in a row, an unexpected designer collection will be coming to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The lingerie brand previously partnered with Balmain on a collection both for the runway and in stores. This time, Victoria's Secret announced it will be collaborating with Mary Katrantzou for its show later this year in New York City.
The forthcoming collection will be a departure from last year's edgier one. While the Balmain collection typified Creative Director Olivier Rousteing's sexy and overembellished designs, viewers can expect more playful designs from Katrantzou. Referred to as the "Queen of Prints," the Athens-born, London-based designer recently celebrated her brand's 10th anniversary during London Fashion Week.
"Everything that Victoria's Secret creates is about a woman feeling confident and empowered - and also having fun with what she is wearing," Katrantzou said in a press statement. "This collaboration is going to be bold, fun and playful."
As with the Balmain collection, the Katrantzou collection will be featured during the runway show, and select looks will later be carried in stores and online. Ahead, take a look at a sketch from the new collection, Katrantzou's designs, as well as last year's Victoria's Secret designer collection.
14 Grocery Staples I Always Have as a 20-Something on a Budget
As a 26-year-old who started out in the professional world a few years ago, I know how hard it can be to get your life together. You're supposed to find a job, live on your own, cook for yourself, and find the time to exercise, which, unfortunately, I don't think includes walking to the kitchen for snack breaks in between TV episodes. When you have so much going on - especially when you're on a budget - one thing that some people dread is grocery shopping. I personally love it, but it took a little practice to figure out a routine and a grocery list that worked for me. As someone who loves to cook, there are certain things I like to have on hand all the time. These are 14 budget-approved staples I always have stocked in my kitchen.

William and Kate Are "Delighted" at Harry and Meghan's Baby News
On Oct. 15, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially announced they are expecting their first child, who will be born in the Spring of 2019. Of course, the internet immediately had things to say, and the family were also quick to share their excitement at the idea of welcoming a new little member to the royal clan.
A spokesperson for the Palace told The Telegraph that Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, is of course "very happy about the lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild." As for the royal family, they congratulated the couple in person when they all attended Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding. "The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple and were able to congratulate them on Friday at the wedding in person," the spokesperson added.
The lovely news was shared just one day after Harry and Meghan's arrival in Sydney, where the couple are getting ready to embark on their first royal tour as a married couple. Over the next couple of weeks, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be visiting Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand and will also attend a few sporting events (including the closing ceremony) at the Invictus Games.
Charmed Is Getting Rebooted, but Where Is the Original Cast Now?
It's hard to believe it has been almost 20 years since Charmed premiered. During its eight-season run, the series acquired a dedicated fanbase, which has only continued to grow since the series wrapped in 2006. Now that the show is getting rebooted on The CW, we can't help but wonder what the original cast is up to now. While all four witch sisters have continued acting, two of them are now parents! See where the Halliwell sisters and the rest of their supernatural friends are now.
The Theme and Hosts of the Next Met Gala Have Been Announced, and They’re Camper Than Ever
After following the controversial theme of "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" in 2018, the 2019 edition of the Met Gala will be going in a very different direction. On Oct. 9, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that the theme for next year's Costume Institute exhibition will be framed around Susan Sontag's seminal 1964 essay "Notes on 'Camp,'" with Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Serena Williams, and Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele named as cohosts alongside Vogue's editor in chief Anna Wintour.
"We are going through an extreme camp moment," explains Andrew Bolton, the curator in charge of the Costume Institute, to The New York Times. "It felt very relevant to the cultural conversation to look at what is often dismissed as empty frivolity but can be actually a very sophisticated and powerful political tool, especially for marginalized cultures."
But how should one dress for such a momentous occasion? Well, Bolton mentions the idea of surplus - "A bow that's too big, too many feathers, too many sequins" - which perfectly resonates with Sontag's definition of what camp is: the "love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration . . . style at the expense of content . . . the triumph of the epicene style." And as for Gucci's creative director, without whom this exhibition wouldn't have been made possible, camp means one thing: "the unique ability of combining high art and pop culture."
As we patiently and excitedly wait to see how guests will interpret next year's fascinating theme, read on to see why the new cohosts were the perfect choice, as well as the guests we're most excited to see dress for the occasion.
Here's Everything You'll Need to Copy Rihanna in All Her Holy Glory at the Met Gala
The moment Rihanna arrived at the Met Gala this year, it was like she parted the red sea carpet and showed everyone why she's truly a fashion icon. Rihanna, who was one of the cohosts, blessed the world with a Margiela pope-inspired outfit that had us in pure awe. The theme was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination," and boy, did she stick to it!
What better way to pay homage to Rihanna in all her holy glory than re-creating her look for Halloween? The basic essentials you'll need are a mitre aka a bishop's hat, a silver beaded dress or a top and miniskirt, a long jacket, pearl ankle bracelets, and silver glitter heels. Shop everything you'll need to dress up like Rihanna and prepare to have others bow down!
Priyanka Chopra Looked Red Hot in This Monochromatic Outfit, but Her Leather Skirt Stole the Show
Priyanka Chopra's most recent outing in New York City just adds to the mounting pile of evidence that she doesn't have to work very hard to make jaws drop. The Quantico actress stepped out on the streets of Manhattan ahead of her appearance at Tuesday night's Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Collection event wearing a fiery red outfit that could literally stop traffic - especially that wrap skirt.
Priyanka wore a tight-fit, wine-colored leather pencil skirt from Akris ($2,390) that currently has me wondering why I haven't already added a similar style to my Fall wardrobe. She accessorized with a silk blouse, a shiny red handbag, and a pair of snakeskin crisscross pumps. Scroll ahead to see more pics of the bride-to-be's outfit, and to shop similar styles.

The happy news comes on the heels of another big day for the British royal family. On Oct. 12, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank said "I do" at St. George's Chapel in Windsor, the place where Meghan and Harry got married in May. Now, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have arrived in Australia, ready to start their very first royal tour as a married couple.
Well, needless to say, Spring 2019 couldn't come soon enough!
I Found a Hand Sanitizer That Doesn't Give Me a Headache, and I Keep One in Every Purse
I'm a germophobe, and I have no problem admitting that. I've been toting around hand sanitizer since middle school, and on public transportation, forget about it. The downside is that hand sanitizer usually dries out my skin, and I hate the potent smell.
Recently, though, I found a hand sanitizer that smells like coconut and lemongrass, and my life has never been the same. I'm constantly complimented on the scent, prompting me to gift it to a few close friends. I now keep one in every bag, knowing that, for me, nothing else quite compares. As we head into cold and flu season, do yourself a favor and carry around a hand sanitizer that you actually enjoy applying.

I Have Depression, and I Really Wish People Would Stop Telling Me That Exercise Is a Cure
When I was 14, I was diagnosed with depression. I didn't understand it much at the time, only that I had finally found a word that encompassed all the feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, shame, and sadness that I was experiencing on a near-daily basis for years, which only got worse once I got to high school. When I wasn't in school or an after-school activity, I only wanted to sleep. My grades dropped significantly. I thought regularly about how I would kill myself and who would have to be the person to find me. And it wasn't situational; I had a fantastic childhood with a loving family and plenty of friends. The Zoloft I was prescribed quite literally saved my life.
I was also active. By no means a natural athlete, I still swam year-round, played tennis, and started working out weekly with a personal trainer in middle school. So why did I feel so horrible all of the time?
Depression is complicated, and while relying on the common explainer that it's caused by a "chemical imbalance in the brain" is a little too simplistic, it sums up what depression actually is: a mental illness that may require medical intervention in the form of prescription drugs and psychotherapy (which I also underwent once a week). Various lifestyle factors, such as eating well, getting enough exercise, and logging seven to eight hours of sleep a night, can also help ease depression, but they should not be considered a cure.
I should know: I quit Zoloft cold turkey my senior year of high school. That's the problem when antidepressants actually do their job; they trick your brain into thinking you don't need them anymore. And while I managed to do well my last year of high school, it all came crashing down when I got to college.
I spent my freshman year of college much the same way I spent my freshman year of high school: sleeping all the time, getting behind on school work, struggling to pass classes. I didn't want to rely on medication anymore, so instead I hit the campus gym. A lot. By second semester, I was working out up to two and a half hours a day. And while I felt better after I left the rec center all sweaty, I would eventually go back to feeling sad, helpless, and unmotivated. I wanted to ignore my depression and pretend like it wasn't a chronic illness I was saddled with; people in much worse circumstances accomplish much more than I was able to, so why couldn't I just buck up and pull it together? I figured I could handle it with exercise, eating well, and getting plenty of vitamin D (too much, in fact).
It took me five years instead of four, but I eventually graduated, arguably in a much better mental state than I was in my first year of college. But when I moved to New York several months later with just two suitcases, no job, and little money, it was like a shock to my system. My anxiety ramped up to levels I had never experienced before, and my depression was as bad as it was pre-Zoloft. I also started experiencing bouts of hypomania, where I would become super energetic and productive on little sleep. I chalked this up to finally being happy and freed from my mental illness, only to come crashing down to a dark depression days later. Throughout it all, I was still exercising regularly.
After finally seeking help by visiting several psychiatrists, and some truly horrible trial and error with medication, I was eventually diagnosed with bipolar II. Through the proper cocktail of medications, therapy, getting enough sleep, and, yes, exercise, I finally feel like I have my mental illness under control.
When people tell me I can just handle my mental illness with exercise, going outside, sunshine, or many of the other lifestyle factors that have been attributed to relieving depression, I want to scream. I tried handling my depression the "natural" way for years, and it came back worse than ever: I was struggling at my job, could barely peel myself out of bed, and suffered from suicidal ideation again.
There's no denying that exercise can help with mental health. The feel-good endorphins you get after you finish a tough workout instantly improve your mood, and a recent study that analyzed 1.2 million adults in the US found that those who exercised regularly had fewer days of poor mental health than those who didn't. I know that getting regular exercise is integral for me doing and feeling my best. But it's certainly not a replacement for the sometimes-necessary medication and therapy needed to not just survive, but thrive. For some people, exercise may be all they need to combat feelings of depression and put themselves in a proper state of mind, which, good for them. Unfortunately, I, and millions of others, aren't those people.
Before you try to offer "helpful" advice for people struggling with depression or another mental illness by suggesting they just need some exercise endorphins and sunshine, please remember that everyone's brain is wired differently. What works for you may not work for someone else, and that's OK. Just know that there's already a stigma facing people who choose to get medical help for their mental illness, and your comments could be the difference between life and death.
I Did 20 Push-Ups Every Day For 2 Weeks and Here's What I Learned
Earlier this year, I could string together a solid 14 to 16 push-ups without stopping. It was a skill that took me quite some time to master. And by "quite some time," I mean months and months. For that, my gratitude lays with CrossFit. When I'd see them on the list of to-dos for a daily WOD (workout of the day, in CrossFit speak), I felt excitement over dread. I got to a point where I looked forward to seeing just how many I could crank out before dropping to my knees for that modification. I looked forward to watching what was four up to six, and six up to eight.
But then I hurt my back. Lifting too much weight overhead during the CrossFit Open triggered some nagging arthritis in my lumbar spine, and push-ups were one of the first things to go. Maintaining that tension in my core, rep after rep, bothered my back. Although I was taking the time to work on my core strength, I didn't want to risk the unintentional pain; I started doing push-ups constantly from my knees, reverting back to my pre-gains status. I felt like the last year of strength successes were subsiding.
Here's the thing: I'm not the kind of person to take "subpar" as status quo. So, naturally, after a couple of months of accepting this on-the-knees approach, change was imminent. The logical decision? I was going to work back to stringing together a slew of push-ups, ASAP. The plan? Rise to the challenge. Using the app Spar, I challenged three friends (including my boyfriend) to do 20 push-ups every day for two weeks. The best part is hands down the penalty: if you miss a day, Spar charges your credit card $3. Thus, I present you with four lessons I learned doing 20 push-ups a day for two weeks:
1. Not every goal has to be astronomical.
I knew going into this challenge that just because I started on this goal didn't mean I was automatically going to crank out standard push-ups easy-breezy. Setting a goal of 20 push-ups felt like a lot, but I knew that 10 would be a little too easy. So I started small. I wasn't going to crush all 20 push-ups from high plank from the get-go. So, after doing a few going through the motions from high plank to low plank, I'd drop to my knees and finish the rest of them modified. Being easy on myself made this OK. Being easy on myself made me feel like I could make positive progress. As the weeks progressed, I worked on doing more and more in the standard format before giving in to the alternative.
2. A support network makes everything better.
If I had simply challenged myself to do 20 push-ups each day, I probably wouldn't have stuck it out. Not because I don't have willpower, but because . . . let's be honest: things always get in the way. Watching my friends execute their reps (Spar makes you record a 10-second video every day when you check-in to show the challenge participants you're not fibbing), I felt motivated to do mine. The trash talking . . . well, that motivated me a bit, too.
3. When you think you can't go any more, do one more.
That's when I focused on all the things you're supposed to focus on when executing the perfect push-up: lean slightly forward, keep your shoulders stacked over your elbows, engage your core. When I felt like my triceps couldn't bear lowering my body weight back to the ground (nevertheless pushing it back up), I took a deep breath, paused, and then pushed past my comfort zone. Despite struggling before the rep, I'd say that almost always that last can-I-keep-doing-this push-up was my best.
4. The best is yet to come.
Probably the best part of the challenge was waking up to a "You lost!" email (both my boyfriend and I missed one day each, paying out a total of $3 to our friends). Within an hour, the group text was lighting up with questions like "What's next?" paired with suggestions. Sure, we all like a little friendly competition. But now that I've built up my arm strength, I'm thinking those lunges are a good idea.
Arielle's BBG Transformation Photos Look Completely Different, but She Only Lost 5 Pounds
Although these transformation photos are amazing, this inspiring story isn't about weight loss at all. Rather, it's about gaining balance, health, and happiness. Arielle Lorre (@theblondefiless on Instagram) told POPSUGAR, "My wellness journey started in February 2016 after having felt like I had lost control of my body. I have always been petite but over the years had accumulated really bad gut and hormone issues, a restrictive approach to nutrition, and an excessive approach to exercise, which resulted in my body revolting." This Is What Happens When You Take Ibuprofen Too Often, According to a Doctor
You might be thinking, If I don't need a prescription to buy it, it must be safe to casually take it. For the most part, taking ibuprofen to ease pain is totally harmless and effective. However, a drug's a drug, and if you're taking ibuprofen on the daily, you might start to notice some unfortunate side effects.
First off, what is ibuprofen, exactly? "Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID). NSAIDs are frequently used for the treatment of inflammatory and painful conditions and are considered to be one of the most commonly used classes of medications worldwide," Harrison Linder, MD, from the Center for Interventional Pain Medicine at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, tells POPSUGAR.
"The current recommendation for ibuprofen is to limit daily use to no more than 30 days."
It's a handy medicine to stash in your purse, as long as it's used properly in the recommended time span and dosage amount. "The current recommendation for ibuprofen is to limit daily use to no more than 30 days. Dosing can range from 400 milligrams to 800 milligrams up to four times a day with a daily maximum of 3200 milligrams per day," says Dr. Linder.
However, if you exceed that amount or keep taking it well into your second (or third) month, the negative effects begin to outweigh the desired benefits of decreased discomfort and pain, he says.
You might be surprised, but it's actually pretty common for some people to rely on ibuprofen as a way to make it through the day. "Very often, individuals involved in large amounts of physical activity, either athletes or people with physically demanding occupations, will rely on ibuprofen or other NSAIDs as a way to limit daily aches and pains and allow continued function," says Dr. Linder.
Unfortunately, while you might feel that instant hit of relief and make it through a final set of burpees, you could be putting your body at risk down the road. Here's all the info you need to know about ibuprofen, along with the common physical side effects you could experience if you take too much of it.
I Have Anxiety, and I Do These 5 Things Every Day to Manage It
"Anxiety" is a word thrown around perhaps a little too cavalierly these days, but it's a mental health condition that impacts 40 million adults just in the US. Although it manifests itself differently in each person, the biggest symptoms of anxiety include excessive worrying, accelerated heart rate, and an inability to concentrate.
I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety when I was 14, and I was later diagnosed with bipolar II as an adult (of which anxiety is a symptom), but I've experienced anxiety for as long as I can remember. I never learned how to do a cartwheel for fear of breaking my neck, and I always envisioned our car crashing into a lamppost every time it rained. (I was a superfun kid to be around, if you can't tell).
Although my anxiety has been seemingly getting worse as I've gotten older, I have also been more proactive about how to tackle it. Rather than let it consume my life, I take these steps to calm my nerves and prevent myself from going on a downward spiral.
Please note this shouldn't be a substitute for medical advice; if you are suffering from anxiety, tell your doctor and visit a mental health specialist, such as a psychiatrist or psychologist, who can help you find an effective treatment plan.

This Is What You Should Be Eating at Each Meal to Lose Weight
A big part of eating well to lose weight is planning out your meals. Once you have an idea of what you will be eating at each meal, it's much easier to stay on track and resist temptation that will veer you off your healthy eating goals.
But if planning out each meal in advance sounds overwhelming, don't stress: registered dietitian Bari Stricoff told POPSUGAR what you should be eating at every meal to keep you blood sugar stable and help you lose weight. It's a simple formula, and you can use it to mix and match your favorite foods for a complete meal.
"When it comes to blood sugar regulation, the quality of meals compared to the number of meals is more important," she said. "Ensuring your meals have high-quality protein plus whole grain carbohydrates [and] healthy fats will have positive effects on blood sugar."
So if you're craving avocado toast, make sure it's on 100 percent whole wheat bread and paired with an egg or smoked salmon for some protein. Instead of just a piece of fruit for a snack, eat it with a handful of nuts for a boost of protein and fat.
She also said fiber, which is found in whole grain carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables, is important to help slow the release of sugar in the blood. If you combine the fiber with protein and fats, it also helps delay the release of sugar in the blood. When your blood sugar is regulated, you are less likely to store fat. Plus, you will feel satiated and won't be tempted to snack between meals.
Of course, eating in a calorie deficit is key to losing weight. But whether you eat five small meals a day or three larger meals a day, as long as they contain high-quality protein, whole grain carbohydrates or another fiber-rich food, and healthy fats, your blood sugar will be stable. This will keep you on track and help keep your weight down.
Sparkling, Seltzer, Soda: A Primer on Carbonated Water
Soda water, seltzer, club soda, sparkling water, mineral water: there are so many different fizzy waters out there. Are they all the same thing?
Carbonated water - water into which carbon dioxide has been dissolved - is a broad term that encompasses all fizzy waters; it's used interchangeably with sparkling water and soda water (a prewar term for the same thing). Within this category, there are several distinctions: seltzer, club soda, and mineral water.
Seltzer and club soda have both been artificially produced by passing pressurized carbon dioxide through water, but while seltzer contains no added ingredients or flavorings, club soda contains additives such as table salt, sodium bicarbonate, or potassium bicarbonate to add a slightly salty flavor.
In contrast, an effervescent mineral water such as Perrier or San Pellegrino is water that contains naturally occurring carbonation and minerals. Since it's bottled directly from a natural source, it tends to be pricier and has a more delicate effervescence than other carbonated waters. For these reasons, it's typically enjoyed alone, rather than used as a drink mixer.

There’s a Video of a Dog Flopping Around in a Teddy Bear Halloween Costume, and Now Nothing Else Matters
When it comes to Halloween, there are a lot of traditions that make the holiday so much fun. Putting together unique group costumes, carving pumpkins, and even indulging in bite-sized chocolates typically top our lists, but nothing really overshadows the joy we get out of dressing up our pets. Those innocent little furballs love their owners dearly, which is what makes succumbing them to Halloween that much more fun. Instagram user Harp + Lola knows this to be true. In a popular Instagram post, Rebecca put her adorable bull dog Poppy in a teddy bear costume and whipped out her phone to document. Like a baby learning to walk, Poppy the puppy looks at Rebecca forlornly before taking her first few clumsy steps. Turn the volume up so you can hear the little feet flopping about. It's magic.

DIY Poo-Pourri: How to Make Your Own Smell-Suppressing Concoction
Gone are the days of air fresheners and lighting a scented candle after you go number two in the bathroom.
Poo-Pourri, aka the world's greatest invention ever, is a spray that one uses before going to the bathroom to mask any unwanted smells that come with pooping because, let's face it, nobody's poop smells like roses (except for maybe Beyoncé, of course).
What makes Poo-Pourri spray different from standard air fresheners is that you spray it directly into the toilet bowl before you go, rather than spraying it into the surrounding air after the fact.
It smells wonderful and it's innovative, but it can be a bit costly. It costs $13 for a two-pack of the 1 oz bottle on Amazon, and for those on a budget (especially if you have a house full of roommates or family members), that can add up.
But have no fear! We have some instructions on how to make your very own Poo-Pourri at home.
Here's What You Need:
- 2 oz spray bottle
- Essential oils
- Rubbing alcohol
- Water
