Grey's Anatomy Is Bringing Back an Old Character For Some Intense Drama This Season
Season 15 of Grey's Anatomy has been a rollercoaster for our emotions. From worrying about the disappearance of Jackson (It's okay, he comes back!) and original star Ellen Pompeo hinting that she may leave the series sooner than later, we've had a time. Luckily, since Pompeo has confirmed that she's staying with the Grey's family for as long as they keep being renewed, we can enjoy the rest of this season and all its' surprises. Which includes the return of a character we haven't since season seven who is bound to bring a fair bit of angst with his appearance.
Warning: General Grey's Anatomy spoilers ahead!
The season's fifth episode, "Everyday Angel," features Meredith attempting to convince Teddy to tell Owen about her pregnancy. While Teddy is determined to raise her child alone, Meredith tries to sway her by pointing out that if she keeps the two from one another, not only is she hurting her baby but she's also hurting Owen. Especially when their child grows up and decides to seek out their father. The conversation between the two serves as perfect foreshadowing for the return of another complicated family dynamic: as the promo for the upcoming episode teases, Thatcher Grey is back in town and sick once again.
The promo for "Flowers Grow Out of My Grave" shows Dr. Webber asking Meredith about her father and breaking the news that he's unwell. The last time we saw Thatcher was in season seven, when he came back with a giant kidney stone and a younger girlfriend. A lot has transpired since his disappearance, including Lexie's death, Meredith's marriage to Derek, and the addition of their children. Since there's been no mention of the Grey patriarch, and he's been absent for a lot of huge moments in his daughter's life, we have no doubt that his presence will stir a lot of drama for the widow and mother of three.
We know that Meredith can't handle another loss after everything she's been though, so maybe his visit will inspire the two to properly reconcile? After all, actor Jeff Perry no longer has to contend with a busy schedule on Scandal, so maybe he'll be able to stay on for a few episodes. Either way, we can't wait to see what the episode has in store for us when it premieres on Nov. 1!
Maisie Williams Reunited With Her Game of Thrones Big Brothers IRL, and the Photos Are SO Cute
A reunion between Stark siblings Arya, Robb, and Jon Snow will never happen on Game of Thrones for obvious reasons, but that doesn't mean the real-life stars of the show have stopped hanging out IRL. In celebration of Maisie Williams's new play I and You, which recently opened in London, her onscreen big brothers Kit Harington (Jon) and Richard Madden (Robb) arrived to show her some love.
The trio happily posed for photos together while mingling with actors like Tom Hiddleston and fellow Game of Thrones star John Bradley (aka former Night's Watch member Samwell Tarly), and the snapshots will make any GOT fan's heart swell at least three sizes. Check out the photos ahead - including an adorable Instagram courtesy of Maisie Williams - and try your best not to cry (we'll totally understand if you do, though).
13 Iconic Horror Movies Inspired by Real-Life Events
Any horror fan knows that there's one phrase that will make any scary movie twice as terrifying: "Inspired by true events." It's a tricky phrase, because we often don't know what the original "events" are, and we can't get a sense of how "inspired" the filmmakers were. The halls of horror history are littered with disturbing movies and a handful of potential new classics. But the truth is harder to find. To help give your nightmares a little more weight, we dug into a handful of the most iconic horror movies, and the "true" events that "inspired" them.
The Badass Heroines of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms Talk Costumes, Representation, and More
The Oculus at the Westfield World Trade Center in New York City got a magical makeover from Oct. 21 to Oct. 23 when the tetrad of worlds from Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms - the Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers, Land of Sweets, and the mysterious Fourth Realm - emerged as a maze-like adventure. Two stars of the film, Mackenzie Foy, who plays Clara, and Misty Copeland, who plays The Ballerina, gladly came along for the immersive experience.
Foy and Copeland sat down with POPSUGAR in the Land of Sweets to talk about the excitement over the upcoming movie. Before the interview began, Copeland kicked off her gorgeously embellished heels to make herself more comfortable. Rather than sitting in a row on one of the oversize candy benches, she happily plopped on the ground so that all three of us could make a circle while we talked. "It's OK, I like to be on the floor!" she assured me with a smile when I looked visibly apprehensive about a ballet icon doing an interview sitting on the ground.
"She's not afraid to be unapologetic of herself. She's not afraid to be a mechanic and be the hero, but still wear a dress and heels."
Meanwhile, Foy genially perched herself on a blue-swirled candy seat, bright-eyed and eager to answer questions. This sense of enthusiasm might have something to do with Foy's love for the very company she's been a part of through this film. "I'm a huge Disney fan, so being able to be in a Disney movie alone is just awesome," she said. But that's only one reason why the 17-year-old actress seems so excited about The Nutcracker remake. Her character and the movie's heroine, Clara, is also someone Foy came to appreciate for her bravery, kindness, and curiosity. "She's not afraid to be unapologetic of herself," Foy added. "She's not afraid to be a mechanic and be the hero, but still wear a dress and heels."
Copeland feels a similar connection with her character. In fact, The Nutcracker was the first ballet she danced in when she was just 13-years-old. "I just feel like my life's kind of come full circle," she said. The opportunity to play such a big role holds another special meaning near and dear to Copeland's heart. Touching on the importance of representation, particularly in the world of ballet, she notes that she doesn't exactly fit the current common perception of what ballerinas look like. But with her landing a significant part in the contemporary remake of a classic tale, she can be the one who helps change the landscape.
"This is going to be something that lives on in this film," she said. "That people will look at this brown ballerina, and it won't be a brown ballerina. It'll just be, 'That's a ballerina. That's what a ballerina looks like.'"
Despite this being Copeland's first major motion picture, one look at her in the film's trailer will tell you that she's still in her element when it comes to bringing the beauty of ballet to life. With pointed toes and gracefully fluid movements, she dons an elegant white tulle dress that's just one of the many elaborate ensembles viewers can expect to see. Evidently, the costuming was yet another fun experience for both Foy and Copeland.
"The costumes were really beautiful," Foy said. "And there's so much detail that went into the petticoats and the corsets. They hand dyed the tights, and they hand dyed the shoes. Every little inch of these costumes was nitpicked and perfected. It was just absolutely beautiful to be in them and be in the purple party dress, with the bustle and the little roses and sparkles on it, and just run through the realms and go on an adventure. It was amazing."
Copeland was also in awe of the opulent attire. "It was stunning to see live," she said. "I think that one of my favorites was definitely Keira Knightley as a Sugar Plum Fairy."
In a nutshell (pun intended), Foy and Copeland are both proud to be a part of the Disney magic.
"There's tons of those pinch-me moments," Foy said, before remembering how production brought the imaginative world to life. "They filled the soundstage with real trees and real dirt. It was massive. And they had brought in the snow, and they built courtyards with a working portcullis. They had a working portcullis - it's crazy! There's tons of moments where it was like, 'Wow. We're making the fantasy world.'"
Still, behind such colorful spectacles and set designs is a story that will take viewers on a journey more complex than any other Nutcracker rendition. "It's not as light and surface as the ballet story," Copeland said. "It's kind of digging deeper into these characters. It's like another dimension."
Watch Foy and Copeland embark on the adventure when The Nutcracker and the Four Realms hits theaters on Nov. 2.
35 Spooky Pop Songs That Are PERFECT For Your Halloween Party
Everyone knows you can't have a Halloween party without some proper music. And the real tragedy is that good, spooky music isn't exactly the most plentiful asset in the music industry. That's where I come in. Looking for some quality, haunted pop songs that will make your party that much more lit? Tired of the old standbys like "Monster Mash," "Flying Purple People Eater," and "Thriller"? (Sorry, Michael Jackson.) I've compiled a playlist of quality Halloween songs that aren't overplayed and will add plenty of spooky to your scary soirée. You can thank me later!
14 Ways the Halloween Reboot Pays Tribute to the Original Slasher
Rebooting a horror franchise as beloved as Halloween was always going to be a tall order, but I can honestly say that David Gordon Green and Danny McBride do an excellent job with the 2018 edition of the Michael Myers saga.
The film sees Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie - note: the movie only acknowledges the first film in the series - who went off the deep end a little bit after seeing Michael slice and dice her friends as a high school student in 1978. She's since devoted her life to preparing to face the serial killer again, which has left her estranged from her daughter and granddaughter. When Michael breaks free on the 40th anniversary of the killings, Laurie is forced to take him down while also protecting her family.
Naturally, there's a lot of new ground for Halloween to cover, but it also does John Carpenter's original masterpiece justice by incorporating a handful of cool Easter eggs throughout the film for fans. Check them all out ahead, then find out which bone-chilling horror movie you should watch next.

Fans Are Seriously Disappointed With Modern Family's "Underwhelming" Death in Season 10
Spoilers for the latest episode of Modern Family ahead!
Although we let out a squeal of relief that Jay Pritchett's beloved pup, Stella, made it through the latest episode of Modern Family alive, the episode, "Good Grief," does indeed kill a character off: DeDe (recurring guest star Shelley Long), Jay's ex-wife and Claire and Mitchell's mother.
The news that someone would die in an upcoming episode of Modern Family was first reported back in September, with cocreator Christopher Lloyd revealing that the series would be "handling some bigger life events" over the course of season 10, including the death of a "significant" character. Within the first few minutes of the Halloween-themed episode, which aired on Wednesday night, Claire finds out the news from DeDe's husband, who tells her that her mother had a heart condition that she didn't want anyone in the family to know about. Even though her death is sad, some fans are now accusing the show of "false advertising" since DeDe hasn't exactly been a constant presence on the show - she's popped up in just seven episodes over the years.
Sure, "Good Grief" offers a departure from the typically lighthearted, zany antics of the Dunphy clan, but that upbeat tone is also what's kept fans coming back to the ABC comedy for the past 10 years; to some, including DeDe's death at all took away from the Halloween-themed episode. Whether you agree with disappointed fans or are still upset over the loss of Long's hilarious guest appearances, keep reading to see exactly how viewers reacted on Twitter after watching the episode.

This Dog Drops His Ball on the Sidewalk So Someone Will Play With Him, and Hey, I'm Available
This good wall-doggo dropped his ballo but fear not I returned it to him and thanked him for his service pic.twitter.com/ybsVME5xCp
- Johnny Berchtold 🎃🔪 (@JohnnyBerchtold) September 1, 2018
Riley, a sweet Golden Retriever from California, always has one thing on his mind: fetch. But rather than sit around and whine for his humans to throw the ball for him, he's been enlisting the help of random strangers walking by his house. In a tweet that's making its rounds on social media, a man named Johnny Berchtold caught Riley's strategic play on camera.
"Dropping the ball works almost 100 percent of the time," Riley's owner, Wendy Walden, told The Dodo. "Sometimes he misses his mark (not all people love dogs), but then we would always find the ball sitting on the wall because someone picked it up."
By all accounts, Riley doesn't have to try that hard to get a little attention. Most people, including Johnny, popped over for a visit willingly. "I saw Riley across the street and obviously freaked out because of how strikingly cute the sight was," he said. "I had to capture it in that moment, and that's when I realized he had a toy in his mouth. He dropped the ball over the wall, and the video cuts out because I had to return the ball - he was looking right at me!"
Despite the fact that Johnny was well aware he was getting played, it doesn't seem to bother him one bit. "After I returned the ball, I shook his paw and rubbed his head, and he seemed to thoroughly enjoy the attention, which is when I realized that it was just a cute scheme to get said attention."

Dear Candy Canes, as a Parent, I Seriously Hate You
Dear Candy Canes,
You know the famous tale about how the Grinch stole Christmas? Well, I think it was actually you. I mean, first of all, just look at you. You put on such a front. You're so nicely wrapped and packaged that no one would ever think you'd cause such misery. You hang so nicely from Christmas tree branches, over the tops of stockings, and are the perfect finishing touch to any holiday present. You smell good. You come in an assortment of colors - the traditional red and white peppermint is my personal favorite - and (mostly good) flavors. And you're, I'll admit, delicious. Yes, you are the quintessential holiday symbol and treat. But while you scream holiday cheer, you put parents everywhere into a state of madness. And I mean madness.
How many parents have found remnants of you in the most unusual spots in their homes? After a seemingly innocent trip to the mall to meet Santa Claus or a family gathering with generous aunts and uncles, your sweet treats get sucked on for a few minutes before they're dropped or forgotten. I can't tell you how many old, nasty pieces of you I've found in the back of our car during the holiday season (and in the months after). I basically have to pry you off my kids' car seats with pliers for crying out loud! I've found you in their beds (sneaky little stinkers) and the worst place of all, the dryer. Yes, somehow the remnants of you made it through the wash cycle and into the dryer, only to be smudged all over my son's jeans, ruining the rest of that load of laundry.
Thanks a lot.
Did I mention the stickiness? DID I?! Parents of toddlers everywhere loathe the site of you, you red-and-white-striped holiday cheer stealer. Instead of our sweet children calmly enjoying you as a treat, we're left chasing them around and wiping their fingers and mouths at all times making sure they don't touch Aunt Suzy's new white couch. And parents all know that having a daughter takes things to a whole different level. My daughter has gotten many of you caught in her hair. It takes forever to get you out without cutting her beautiful locks! So. Much. Screaming.
So, candy canes, while you may look nice, you definitely belong on the naughty list. You're a hindrance to our holiday cheer. No, you're a holiday cheer bandit. If you can somehow get a hold of all of your sticky behavior, maybe, just maybe, I'll let you enter my home again. But until then, you're staying the hell out of my kids' stockings, our Christmas tree, and my daughter's hair.
From,
The Grinchiest Mom Out There

This Little Boy Dressed Up in Homemade Halloween Costumes Will Be Your New Obsession
The idea to dress up your kiddo in Halloween costumes every day of October has been gaining some steam over the last couple years, but we think we may have found the be-all and end-all in the form of 2016 Fox Mancke.
Fox's mom, Lauren, has loved making Halloween costumes ever since she was a child and told POPSUGAR that starting this project came from the realization that making just one per year for Fox didn't seem like it wasn't going to be enough. They're all made using items from around the house, Fox's clothes, old costume parts, and craft supplies, which has kept the costs of the month-long costume extravaganza very low for Lauren and her husband, Will. The daily photo shoots have all been nearby the family's home, and they haven't taken long - maybe a half hour each - as Fox is a good sport and Will is great at getting him to look at the camera.
While Lauren says she thinks the Max costume (from Where the Wild Things Are) is the sweetest, she also notably mentioned the Wayne's World shoot for the faces Fox made and the Lt. Dangle photos, as his pose is "ridiculous." Will's favorite is Ash from Fantastic Mr. Fox, and because you asked, we think the Ron Swanson getup is pretty amazing (and spot on!).
Scroll through the adorable photos, and let us know which one is your favorite (and check out the expansion of this project, featuring Fox and his twin sisters, Lera and Marigold!).

Every Parent Can Relate to La La Anthony's Text Exchange With Her Son About School Pickup
There comes a moment in every parent's life when they need to take a deep breath and accept the fact that their baby is growing up! For La La Anthony, it came after a gut-punch of a text exchange with her 11-year-old son about school pickup. Yep, that time of the day when parents pester their kids and ask how their day went immediately upon seeing them. As a former child, I can confirm that the questions are a major buzz kill to anyone trying to climb the coveted social hierarchy that is middle school.
La La recently shared a conversation with her son Kiyan, in which he asked her to wait outside "cause only 5th grade parents wait inside," and it's something every parent can relate to.
"A conversation this morning with Kiyan (who is in the 6th grade) when I told him I'm picking him up from school. It's the actual moment you realize you aren't as cool as you thought (he doesn't even want me inside) did I miss something?," she wrote alongside the conversation above. Aw! No, mama, you definitely didn't miss anything, your little boy is just growing up. Can we also point out how adorably Kiyan asked his mom? La La and NBA player Carmelo Anthony's son has some great manners.
Fellow parents on Instagram chimed in on La La's comments with their own similar experiences, and it's safe to say everyone has been there. "Oh he's just getting warmed up. My baby girl (who's in the 7th grade) ask me to wait for her at the ice cream parlor, which is like 5 blocks from her school," one mom wrote. Another added, "I couldn't even get kisses in the car after 5th. It seem to be coming back slowly at 8th. It's ok! He still loves you!!" So sweet! Read on to see La La's text exchange with her son and some sweet photos of Kiyan with his mom and dad.
This Haunting Wedding Shoot Takes "Goth-Chic" to a Whole New, Sexy Level
Choosing a wedding theme can be tough, especially when white dresses, three-tiered cakes, and natural makeup can start to feel way overdone. Photographer Victoria Taylor definitely seems to think so, because she decided to put together a vampy wedding shoot that embodied the best of goth-chic fashion and art. These eerie and enigmatic photos were shot on the grounds of Lake Cuyamaca in Julian, CA, which perfectly matches the dark theme of the shoot. The bride wore a gorgeous black gown with a sweetheart neckline and carried an intricately detailed bouquet with an assortment of red, amber, and black flowers to create a smoky vibrancy. The groom wore a sleek black suit, and the pair looked stunning in Halloween skull makeup. In fact, if you look really closely, you can see that the bride's painted teeth had a metallic finish that matched her smoky eye. It is no surprise that this styled wedding shoot was nightmarishly magical.

Live Like a Bird For a Night at This Insanely Cool Big Sur Resort
Forget sleeping like a baby - how about sleeping like a bird?
Located in the mountainous section of the central coast of California known as Big Sur lies the Treebones Resort, an ecofriendly destination spot that is best known for its insanely cool and Instagrammable human nest. The unique spin on traditional camping was designed by Big Sur resident Jayson Fann and serves as a functional art piece that allows guests to interact and become one with nature in an entirely new way.
Guests climb a ladder into the incredible sculpture made of eucalyptus branches that comes equipped with a full-size futon pad. A picnic table and outdoor cook station sit nearby, with restrooms and access to water only a quick walk away. Treebones suggests guests who sleep in the nest bring pillows, sleeping bags, a flashlight, and anything else they may need, and it also recommends pitching a tent nearby in case of strong wind or rain.
Prices begin at $175 a night for two adult guests staying for a minimum of two nights, and this venture should be booked ASAP, as reservations fill fast for this hidden gem that every traveler to California needs to keep on their radar.
Shay Mitchell, Queen of Traveling, Created a Luggage Line That's Practical and Under $100!
If you follow Shay Mitchell on Instagram, you've probably noticed that the actress is constantly on the go. It seems like she's always traveling to amazing destinations like Morocco and Dubai, all while posting one million lust-worthy #Shaycation pictures. So when I heard that she was launching a travel essentials line, I couldn't help but think, "About damn time!" I sat down with the actress to learn more about her new line, Béis, which comprises seven silhouettes: the Duffle, the Weekender, the Backpack, the Dopp Kit, the Makeup Case, the Passport Holder, and the Luggage Tag.
Not only is the collection chic and unisex, but I was also genuinely surprised to see how many tiny, thoughtful details were added to make life a whole lot easier when traveling. From the compartment on the makeup case that's perfect for storing your shampoos (pshhh, a little leakage is no longer going to ruin your trip!) to the section under the duffel bag that's great for stashing your shoes, it seems like Shay has thought of it all. Plus, this collection won't break the bank because it ranges from $12 to $83. Scroll on for Shay's best tips and to see pieces from the collection, which is available now on the brand's website and at Nordstrom.

Halloween is the one day every year that us muggles get to pretend we're a bit more magical than we really are. For 24 hours, any subway platform can transform itself to 9 3/4, all letters are an invitation to Hogwarts, and an average ball is now a golden snitch.

Touch 2 Continents at Once on This Epic Dive in Iceland - the Photos Are Out of This World!
And you thought the Four Corners was cool. There is a famous spot in Iceland where you can dive or snorkel between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates - and it should be your next travel bucket list item. There are even places where you can touch both continents at once!
The fissure is called Silfra, and it was caused by earthquakes in the late 1700s. Located in the Thingvellir Lake in Iceland's Thingvellir National Park, the spot is fed by glacier runoff and is famous among divers for its exceptionally clear, clean water and its amazing underwater landscape, which includes sand, algae, and lava rock formations.
Silfra has three main dive sites: Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Lagoon. The Cathedral is the most spectacular section at more than 300 feet long with visibility from end to end. The water temperature ranges from 36 to 39 degrees, or just above freezing, so be prepared for a chilly dive!
The fissure is on many divers' bucket lists, and although you usually have to be at least 18 years old to go in the water, a 13-year-old girl from the UK got special permission to do the dive in 2015.
The opportunity to swim between two tectonic plates is extremely rare (and it's the only place on Earth divers can touch two continents at once), so it's definitely worth looking into on your next trip to Iceland. As a diver wrote on Instagram, "This was one of the coolest experience in my life!" In the meantime, check out more photos ahead to see just how breathtaking it is.
