Will the Starbucks Witch's Brew Frappuccino Put a Spell on You? Here's How It Tastes

Starbucks is back this year with another eye-catching Halloween Frappuccino, and was there ever really any doubt? Following the craze surrounding last year's Zombie Frappuccino, Starbucks has announced a new Witch's Brew Frappuccino. The bright purple drink consists of toad's breath, bat warts, and lizard scales. Just kidding - the ingredients actually include orange crème, chia seeds, and whipped cream with a dusting of green powder for decoration.

Now, we'll get to the real reason you likely clicked into this story: how does it taste? The Frappuccino primarily elicited comparisons to orange creamsicles, Fruity Pebbles, and even those Flintstones Chewable Vitamins made for kids. We polled a few POPSUGAR editors on their initial reaction to the Frappuccino. Here they are below:

  • "It's straight orange creamsicle."
  • "I like it . . . because I like orange creamsicles. It tastes like the Stewart's orange and cream soda."
  • "It's like they melted a creamsicle and dyed it purple. I like the chia seeds, they add a good texture, but I wouldn't drink an entire thing of it."
  • "It's not as bad as I would've expected. It does taste a lot like Fruity Pebbles to me."
  • "It tastes like Fruity Pebbles, but then the orange comes through at the end."
  • "It reminds me of those Flintstones push pops!"
  • "Flintstones vitamins! It's not that bad - I like the taste of vitamins."
  • "It totally tastes like the Fruity Pebbles cereal. I still taste it in my mouth and . . . yep."
  • "Damn, Starbucks is doing the most."

The Witch's Brew Frappuccino will be available now - but for a limited time - at Starbucks locations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and select locations in the Caribbean.

Burning Question: At What Temperature Is a Turkey Cooked?

No matter what kind of turkey you'll be having this year, there's one question you'll need the answer to: what temperature does a turkey need to reach in order to be considered done?

Until 2008, the USDA recommended cooking turkey to an internal temperature of 180ºF. But based on the fact that bacteria threat salmonella cannot withstand temperatures of 160ºF after 30 seconds, the FDA now suggests a minimum internal temperature of 165ºF as measured by a food thermometer in the innermost part of the thigh and wing and the thickest part of the breast.

The FDA doesn't really account for the fact that the breasts cook slower than the thighs. Turkey experts like Butterball recommend cooking the breast to 165ºF and the thigh to 180ºF. The key number is the breast temperature, so stress less about the thigh temperature (as long as it's over the 160ºF ballpark). And, if you really want the juiciest white meat possible, factor in carry-over cooking. America's Test Kitchen says to pull the bird out of the oven at 160ºF, since the residual heat from the meat will raise the temperature to 165ºF as it rests for 15-20 minutes (but no more than 30).

Parents, Please Don't Give Your Kids a Puppy on Christmas Morning

Nothing compares to watching the excitement on your kids' faces when they open their gifts on Christmas morning. They eagerly rip open the boxes and their eyes instantly light up when they see that Santa has brought them the thing they've wanted more than anything. And for some on Christmas morning, that means a puppy. Those lovable creatures, with their floppy ears and giant feet, are a guaranteed hit. I mean, who wouldn't want a puppy? They're a great addition to any family. But just because everyone loves them doesn't mean they should be given as gifts. Keep reading for why you shouldn't give a puppy as a gift on Christmas morning, and how to safely bring one home if you do get one during the holiday season.

1. Christmas Is Too Overwhelming

Christmas is a notoriously hectic day. From opening gifts to cooking to having family over or going to someone else's house, Christmas just isn't the time to introduce a tiny puppy into your home and family. Kids, especially little kids, can also get emotional, scream, or grab at the puppy, which could scare them. This is especially true if your new pet isn't house trained yet. Getting a new animal on Christmas will add a whole new level of stress for you and for the puppy.

Dog expert Cesar Millan points out: "You've just thrown [them] into a completely alien environment with no direction, and these early associations are going to stick. The place is unfamiliar, it smells different, and there doesn't seem to be any way out." Unless you're going to stop the whole Christmas gift-giving process and devote your whole day to the dog, chances are you're going to really stress out your new pup.

2. Pets Are Family Members

Living, breathing creatures like puppies and kittens aren't toys - they're new members of the family that will require love and attention for the next 9 to 15 years. Puppies should require a great amount of thought and preparation. They need a fleet of supplies, from crates and beds to food and toys, and they need the time and space to acclimate to their new things and home.

3. Children Might Want to Have a Say

When I've adopted animals in the past, the shelter workers always ask if every member of the family is present and OK with the adoption of a pet. One shelter wouldn't even let me adopt my pup until I brought my roommate in to confirm that she was on board. Largely, this process should hold true for kids. If you're expecting children to love and take care of a puppy for the next decade at least, they should have some say in which puppy they get, otherwise this is just a gift for you, and that's not the way gifts work.

4. Instead, Plan a Family Trip

That being said, you can still "give a puppy" for Christmas. Instead of putting a puppy in a box or stocking, give your kid the puppy toys, the crate, or a leash. Explain to them what this gift means, and that they'll be able to help pick out and rescue their new pet. They'll feel more invested in the process because they get to help. As part of your gift, pick a day as a family to go look at puppies, and after Christmas has died down, come up with a plan. This way, your family is happy and prepared, and a puppy has the best shot at adjusting to their new home and family with ease.

I Know the Dangers of Domestic Violence Firsthand - That's Why I'm Voting For Gun Safety

Neuteyshe Felizor is a sophomore at George Mason University and a leader in her school's chapter of Students Demand Action.

With just weeks until the critical midterm elections, it's all hands on deck for college students like me. Our future, as well as the future of this nation, is on the line. I wish that my worries ended with wondering what's for dinner (answer: ramen) and how to help my ever-shrinking bank account. Instead, I'm worried about our right to live a life free of gun violence, and determined to demand more of our leaders in Washington DC and in our statehouses.

I know the toll gun violence takes - especially on women and communities of color. Women in the US are 16 times more likely to be killed with a gun than women in other high-income countries. And the crisis is especially deadly for black women. We are twice as likely to be fatally shot by an intimate partner compared to white women. This October is both Domestic Violence Awareness Month and marks the last weeks until midterm elections. It's with both of these things in mind that I demand change.

"It's too late to protect my aunt from what happened . . . it is not too late for other women or men in abusive relationships."

Like too many Americans, I know what it feels like to find out that your loved one was killed by domestic violence. My aunt and I had a complicated relationship. I had always told myself that I would eventually reach out and try to make amends. Unfortunately, "eventually" never came because my aunt was brutally murdered by her husband in September 2017. I now live with regret knowing that I never got to say "I am sorry," "I love you," or even "I forgive you." Sometimes, I catch myself wondering how I could've helped prevent her murder. In coming to terms with the reality that it's too late to protect my aunt from what happened, I realized that it is not too late for other women or men in abusive relationships. While a gun was not involved in my aunt's murder, more than half of women who die by gun violence in America are killed by intimate partners or family members. I used to blame myself for not doing enough, but now, I am determined to tell my aunt's story because sharing it could help inspire the change we need to save lives.

There's no one law that can stop every act of violence. But there are common-sense steps we can take, like keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, that can make a difference. It's with that in mind that I helped to found a chapter of Students Demand Action For Gun Sense in America on my college campus. The fact is that gun violence is preventable. Strong gun laws and a culture of responsible gun ownership can save lives, but we need lawmakers who will work with us to enact change.

So, I began to speak up. Along with my fellow Students Demand Action volunteers, I have been phone banking, canvassing, and registering voters, all in an effort to do everything we can to elect gun sense candidates. We all have a role to play in changing our world for the better - and every little piece counts.

This election is critical, and lives depend on our voting for candidates who will stand up for gun safety. It's easy to know who to support; you can go to gunsensevoter.org to find candidates who have pledged to vote for gun safety if elected. And if you're interested in getting involved in the gun violence prevention movement - and turning out voters on Nov. 6 - text "READY" to 644-33.

For the sake of our safety, be sure to vote for gun sense candidates on Nov. 6.

Meghan Markle Stuns in a Gorgeous Blue Dress, and BRB - We Have Some Shopping to Do

If you thought Meghan Markle was done serving looks on her royal tour with Prince Harry, think again. After looking polished in a dreamy Martin Grant dress during the second day of her visit in Tonga, the Duchess of Sussex switched up her look when she attended the unveiling of The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy at Tupou College on Friday. Meghan stepped out in a sky blue Veronica Beard shirtdress, which she matched perfectly with a pair of blue suede heels.

Of course, this isn't the first time Meghan has wowed us in blue during the tour. The royal donned a navy Stella McCartney cape dress in Sydney, a sleeveless navy dress by Australian designer Dion Lee in Melbourne, and a gorgeous bright blue Safiya gown for a state dinner in Fiji. If we had to take a wild guess, we'd say blue might just be Meghan's color.

Meghan Markle's Striped Dress Looks a Lot Like the Polished Day Dress of Our Dreams

The only thing that could upstage Meghan Markle's style is her adorable moments with Prince Harry. But second only to the expecting couple's sweet moments together is her impeccable collection of royal tour looks that run the gamut from laid-back (remember that Reformation dress?) to ultraglamorous. And still, the Duchess of Sussex has plenty more where that came from, stepping out for the second day of her visit in Tonga in a striped cotton shirt dress from Australian designer Martin Grant. She completed the look with a pair of classic heels in a complementary shade of olive green and a neutral-toned clutch in hand.

While Meghan's outfits have ranged from occasion to occasion, there is a constant: like Kate Middleton, her looks are accessible. Even when they ring in on the expensive side, the silhouette, feel, and styling are approachable and wearable. Much like Meghan herself, this dress is polished, pleasant, and impossibly cool. Read on to see the look from every angle and shop the exact dress if you're feeling inspired.

People Think Meghan Markle's Rings Reveal Her Due Date, and TBH, It's a Solid Theory

Ever since Meghan Markle announced her pregnancy on Oct. 15, royal family devotees have been eagerly trying to predict her due date, and it looks like the Duchess of Sussex may have revealed it in plain sight - with her accessories. While attending an Invictus Games event in Sydney on Oct. 20, Meghan wore three stackable rings from Canadian brand Ecksand: a round green stone ring, a deep blue eye-shaped one, and a diamond ring smack-dab in the middle.

As soon as cameras snapped photos of Meghan and Harry at the gathering, eagle-eyed fans started hypothesizing that each of the rings signified the birthstone of each member of their growing family. The emerald green stone possibly denoted Meghan's August birthday, the sapphire one may have represented Harry's September birthday, and the diamond one? Yep, that could potentially signify Baby Sussex's future April birthday, seeing as the shiny stone is the birthstone for that Spring month.

It is important to note that Meghan's August birthstone is technically the green peridot and emeralds are actually the May birthstone, but Ecksand doesn't seem to make a stackable green peridot ring, so she likely chose the most similar color. Plus, the fact that she chose to put the diamond ring in the middle of the blue and green ones, as if to denote her and her hubby embracing their future child, just seems like too much of a deliberate clue to ignore.

So, do Meghan's rings confirm her rumored April due date? I guess we'll have to wait until Spring 2019 to find out for sure. Ahead, see a few snaps of Meghan's rings to decide for yourself, and then keep reading to shop her exact Ecksand accessories, if you feel so inclined.

No, Julia Roberts Doesn't Have a Twin, but Her Stylist Might as Well Be

Contrary to what your brain might have you thinking after seeing recent photos of Julia Roberts, you're not seeing double but rather her look-alike stylist Elizabeth Stewart. The pair posed at the InStyle awards hand in hand wearing exactly the same pantsuit.

They opted for lilac Givenchy suits, most recently seen on male model Jonas Glöer at the label's latest show. Julia and Elizabeth chose to pair theirs with a pink shirt and white lace-up sneakers, and they finished off the look with different colored purses; well, we have to differentiate them somehow!

According to InStyle, Julia came up with the idea when they were discussing outfit choices, and she explained, "It's not often we get to go to something together, and I said, you know, because we do look alike, 'What if we wore, like, a similar outfit? Let's wear the same thing.'" They both decided it could be fun since they're "kind of the same person." But that's not all: they didn't just have matching outfits; their hair and makeup was near identical, too.

So our dreams of having two Julia Roberts in this lifetime might be a bit of a stretch, but this is a stylish look-alike team we can truly get on board with.

I first used it in the back of an Uber on my way to work. I thought, "Wow, how Instagrammable is this?" as I carefully slid it out of the box and was blinded by a beam of light that had shone through my car's window and bounced off of its mirror-like lid. I then opened the compact to reveal its large pan of highlighting powder. I honestly didn't want to use it - it was just so beautiful. But alas, I swirled my fluffy highlighter brush into the powder and swept it across my face.

The powder is made of finely milled particles that shimmer in the sunlight. On my medium, caramel-colored skin, as well as entertainment editorial assistant Brea Cubit's - who has a deeper skin tone - the highlighter looks more peach-gold. On our assistant beauty editor Sarah Siegel, who has fairer skin, it reads closer to a champagne hue. It starts as a subtle glow but then builds into an intense gleam the more you layer.

The O! Mega Glaze All-Over Foil Luminizer is limited edition, which freaks me out because it's now one of my favorite highlighters, and I have no idea what I'm going to do once I start to hit pan. On the other hand, that only makes it all the more precious.

I Always Wanted a Tattoo, but Now I'm Getting Mine Removed

It's a strange feeling to get a tattoo and realize immediately that you hate it. I got my tattoo two weeks after I graduated from college. In retrospect, it was so clearly a bad idea. I came up with the design a few months earlier: while I knew I wanted an infinity sign, I never actually found a drawing of what I wanted it to look like. I just walked into a tattoo parlor on the beach, paid the man, and walked out 45 minutes later with what I can only describe as a serpent-like infinity sign on my wrist. I don't even have any photos of the original version to share.

I tried for months to convince myself and others that I liked my tattoo. I even got it touched up at a much nicer shop with the hopes that a slight variation on the design would fix the problem. After three years of hiding it with a watch, I decided that the only option that would make me happy was to get it removed.

I Did Jonathan Van Ness's Beauty Routine For a Week and Got a Lesson in Self-Care

After a roaring (and voluminous) success in letting Queer Eye's Jonathan Van Ness dictate my hair routine for a week, I thought, "Why not let him guide me through an entire beauty routine?" I didn't have to look far on the internet for Van Ness's favorite beauty products since he is everywhere, and the internet can't get enough of him - myself included.

For a week, I lived by the beauty mantra, "What would Jonathan Van Ness do?," and it gave me so much more than a banging beauty routine (and an excuse to listen to Ariana Grande on repeat, because he would): it taught me a lesson about self-care. Before delving into that, though, let's get into the products and tools I used.

I kept my hair routine the same as my previous experiment using the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo ($36), conditioning with Ouai Repair Conditioner ($26), treating with Ouai Hair Oil ($28), and finishing with Bumble and Bumble Prep It ($25). The sulfate-free life is serving my hair well, and it's never looked better.

For my skin, I used a mix of Van Ness's favorites and my favorite hydrating products, as well as tools that I'd typically use for an at-home spa session.

Here's what was in my arsenal (which you can shop ahead): Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment ($85), Kate Somerville EradiKate Daily Cleanser ($38), Fresh Vitamin Nectar Antioxidant Glow Water ($25), Tropic Skin Feast Nourishing Cream Concentrate($31), Algenist Reveal Concentrated Color Correcting Drops, Green ($38), Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm ($68), Herbivore Rose Quarts Illuminating Body Oil ($48), Beauty Bio Glo PRO Microneedling Regeneration Tool ($199), Noble Isle Tea Rose Shower Gel ($26), Gua Sha Facial Tool, Antonia Burrell Facial Cups ($38), Thisworks Sleep Power Nap Spray ($23), and finally a S1 Ep1 Tom-inspired eye mask courtesy of my mother's beauty stash.

If you also want a Van Ness-inspired routine, you obviously do not need all of these products - just a collection of your feel-good favorites.

With my products in hand, I embarked on a week-long journey with the aim of glowing and healthy skin, but I also channeled Van Ness's viewpoint that with a beauty routine, you should "do it for yourself", which he often stresses in Queer Eye. Although I live and breathe beauty, with stress from work and everyday life, I was doing what many others do: not taking time for myself because life got in the way. I was using products that "get sh*t done" rather than using the expensive shower gel I love or shimmering body oil because it's pretty.

By the end of the week, I realized that I wasn't just benefiting from using Van Ness's favorite products with newly glowing skin, I'd truly embraced his self-love and self-care ethos, which I was seriously lacking. Of course, self-care means very different things for different people. What some might deem "boring" self-care is just as important as taking time for yourself to treat your skin, but the principle Van Ness projects is about giving your body and mind what it needs and deserves.

Taking time to properly remove my makeup each night, spending the extra few minutes to suction cup my forehead to get rid of my terrible tension headaches, and using a bougie pillow spray because the smell made me feel like I had my sh*t together all had a really positive impact on my week. With this routine, I felt healthier overall, because other areas off my life were impacted, too. I didn't cancel yoga, I turned my emails off after 6 p.m., and I ate the food my body needed.

If I'm being totally honest, I probably won't be able to maintain this mantra consistently. Self-love isn't made overnight, and this extra time isn't always available. But it did serve as a reminder that a beauty regimen is more than just a fancy face cream. It is deeply personal and can give you control and enjoyment over something even when life seems to be spiraling out of control. So the next time you need a little Jonathan Van Ness magic in your life, I encourage a little self-love beauty experiment of your own.

Get Ready to Binge-Watch - Netflix to Finally Start Streaming the Lord of the Rings Trilogy

It's been over 15 years since the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the first of the Peter Jackson-directed trilogy that inspired worldwide mania. The adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's novels were released back to back between 2001 and 2003 and are still relevant almost two decades later. It's not only because there's an Amazon series in the making based on the wizard-filled adventures but because each movie still holds up. That's why fans should be officially stoked that the trilogy will finally be making it's way to Netflix for them to binge-watch to their heart's content. However, there is a catch if you live in the US.

American Netflix subscribers have been able to indulge in their love for hobbits, elves, and human rangers for a while since The Fellowship of the Ring is already available for streaming. Now fans in the UK will be able to do the same when all 11 hours and 22 minutes of the fantasy trilogy will be available starting on Nov. 1. Netflix UK announced the news on their Twitter page on Oct. 24 simply using emojis and the date to alert their followers.

Fans were appropriately excited, and really, it's perfect timing for the trilogy to be available to watch. As the days get colder, staying home to watch good and evil duke it out over a ring seems like the perfect way to spend your nights. For US fans, we'll have to wait for the remaining films to be available on Netflix, but you can catch the entire trilogy on Hulu and Amazon.

Sounds Like Ellen Pompeo Is Ready to Play Meredith Grey For a LONG Time

Last month, Ellen Pompeo broke our little hearts. When it comes to her time on Grey's Anatomy, she admitted, her days as Meredith may be numbered. "I'm really excited to do some new things, it's about time that I mix it up and I'm really excited about my producing career, and I'm definitely looking for a change," she told Entertainment Weekly. But in the time since, it seems she may have changed her tune. On Oct. 23, the star stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she said, "There's just no end in sight." She went on to say that of course, she's obligated to do season 16 as her contract stipulates, but it sounds like there's a much stronger chance she'll keep going if the show gets renewed. And that's because she's apparently very struck by the show's impact.

It turns out, a pretty recent moment on the show moved her deeply. Pompeo told the story of a young man who'd been cast on the show; his character is gay, and he's gay in real life, too. The actor told her that it helped him come out to his parents. Even telling the story to DeGeneres, Pompeo clearly seemed to be affected on a very emotional level. "I gotta keep doing it, man," she finished. "Because we're touching lives and making a difference." Well, you can't argue with that. Here's to 15 more seasons of Grey's! Just kidding. Sort of. Watch the whole video above.

Vox Lux Might Be Natalie Portman's Most Dramatically Different Role Since Black Swan

Despite her diverse range of previous roles, we think it's safe to assume that we've never seen Natalie Portman portray a character quite like the one in Vox Lux. In the forthcoming film by actor-turned-director Brady Corbet, Portman is an out-of-this-world pop star - think Lady Gaga meets Jem meets David Bowie - who is grappling with a teenage daughter, the aftermath of a traumatic accident, and a meddling manager, portrayed by Jude Law. What's more, the score will feature original songs by Sia.

Vox Lux will hit theaters on Dec. 7, and it's already being considered an Oscars contender. Portman is no stranger to the esteemed award show and has personally been nominated three times for Closer, Jackie, and Black Swan, which earned her the award for best actress. If the dramatic trailer is any indication, Vox Lux could very well earn her a fourth nomination.
