Apparently Halloween Is So Scary That People Are Sobbing and Peeing Themselves in Theaters
Just how scary is the new Halloween? If you ask me, a seasoned horror movie veteran, I'd say it's an excellent film in general but only moderately spooky - it's high on gore and expertly leans into the ongoing cat and mouse game between Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and serial killer Michael Myers. But if you ask legions of audience members who've gone to see it in theaters over the past two weekends, the film is horrifying enough to reduce people to tears.
In a series of tweets, moviegoers claim Michael's antics - which include stabbing a babysitter, impaling a teenager on a fence, and murdering a woman who was just trying to enjoy a ham sandwich - made them "cry from fear" and "piss" themselves multiple times. So if you have your own plans to see Laurie face off against the infamous and unstoppable killer, you might want to wear a diaper.
In the meantime, scroll through all the best reactions to Halloween ahead!
Nina Dobrev's Spot-On Star is Born Costume Will Make You Wonder "Why Didn't I Think of That?"
Nina Dobrev has done it again. The 29-year-old actress may dress up for a living, but she still doesn't hold back when it comes to her Halloween costumes. Year after year, she plans an elaborate outfit that centers around pop culture, and her 2018 pick did not disappoint.
Nina took Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's box office hit, A Star Is Born, and broke it down into a piece-by-piece costume where she ended up dressing like a "baby star." She stepped out at the Casamigos Halloween party in a spot-on ensemble, complete with a binky, nursery mobile, and campaign for best picture. Nailed it!

Alfonso Ribeiro Says a Fresh Prince Revival Is "Impossible" Without This 1 Character
Sorry The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fans, it looks like we won't be getting a reboot of the classic '90s series anytime soon.
Reboot fever has been raging for a while now, with shows either being revived (like Murphy Brown) or fully rebooted (such as The CW's Charmed), so it stands to reason that the cast of Fresh Prince would have to field questions on the prospect of reviving the iconic sitcom. According to Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton Banks on the show, there are no plans to revive the series - especially without a key player.
"I think it's impossible with James Avery being gone," he said, during an interview with PeopleTV's Chatter. "He's actually the most important character on the show. ... Without him, everything that Will and Carlton did would mean nothing. "
Avery played Philip "Uncle Phil" Banks on Fresh Prince, the family patriarch and Will Smith's strict uncle. Uncle Phil was generally seen as the moral compass for the family and is known for being one of the best TV dads ever. Avery passed away in 2013 from complications following open heart surgery.
"Do we really want to see Will and Carlton in their 40s and 50s?" Ribeiro added. "I think people think they want to see that, but I don't think people really want to see that."
This isn't the first time Riberiro made his thoughts on a revival clear. The Dancing With the Stars winner shared similar thoughts in 2014, telling Entertainment News, "I don't think we feel as a cast that we would do even our fans justice. We all felt like [Avery] was the centerpiece or the nucleus of that show. Without him, it just doesn't work."
While a reboot of the series could happen some time far off into the future, Ribeiro is pretty firm on the idea that it's unlikely. And apparently he isn't the only one who feels the same way! When it comes to his longtime friend and costar, Riberiro joked that Smith is definitely not coming back for a revival. "Listen, you know how much money they don't have to get Will back?" he said with a laugh. "That's the reality."

Hulu's Four Weddings and a Funeral Announced Its Core Cast, and We Are Into This!
Mindy Kaling is blessing us all with her vision for a Hulu reboot of the rom-com classic Four Weddings and a Funeral. The actor, author, and producer is adapting Richard Curtis's classic 1994 film into an anthology series, with Curtis on board as an executive producer. The rom-com queen wrote the script with The Mindy Project's showrunner Matt Warburton, which will roughly follow the same story as the film.
Like the original, the series will follow a close-knit group of friends who experience love and loss over the course of attending the aforementioned four weddings and one funeral. While we still don't know if we'll be getting any cheeky cameos from the film's original stars, like Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell, we finally know the show's leading cast! Keep reading to check out the members of the core cast and their characters.
I Usually Can't Watch Anything Scary, but Here's Why I'm Hooked on The Haunting of Hill House
If you told me I'd spend 48 hours binging The Haunting of Hill House , I would've said, "there's no way in hell." I'm not a fan of scary things. I refuse to enter a corn maze, I'll cry if you jump out at me from behind a wall, and I walked out of The Dark Knight Rises in high school because I was too freaked out. A Batman movie, y'all - we'll revisit what's truly wrong with my psyche at a later date. Yet somehow, last weekend I found myself pressing play on the Netflix show that's giving fans collective nightmares. So, is The Haunting of Hill House scary? Yep, and I'd absolutely watch all 10 episodes again.
The psychological and emotional drama is more piercing than any scream could ever be.
Hill House, based on the novel by Shirley Jackson, follows the five Crain siblings: Steve, Shirley, Theo, Luke, and Nell Crain, as they confront the traumas inflicted by living in a haunted Massachusetts mansion as kids. Sure, the show still subscribes to eerie music and quick jump scares, but the psychological and emotional drama is more piercing than any scream could ever be. The Crains deal with addiction, abuse, infidelity, loss, betrayal, and depression just as much as they deal with the inexplicable terrors of their childhood home. As a fan of shows like This Is Us and Parenthood, the familial bond and tension kept me watching when the spookiness would've normally kept me at bay.
If you're a scaredy-cat like me, don't count this show out so quickly. Yes, it'll keep you on the edge of your seat. Yes, you may have to sleep with the light on for a couple of nights. You'll also think about the bond you share with your parents, the way you talk to your siblings, and the relationship you have with the home you grew up in. This show goes deeper than a few screaming meemies, and because of that, I'll sleep soundly . . . just maybe not tonight.

Halloween candy isn't a treat limited to the night of Oct. 31 - between spooky parties all month long, themed in-school activities, and the candy that's bought in advance of Halloween that always ends up getting eaten well before the day of, it's likely you'll be drowning in candy from about October to December. If you find yourself with an overabundance of sweet mini chocolate bars and enough Reese's Cups to start your own candy shop, there are so many recipes you can slip candy into over the course of the few months after Halloween. In fact, we recommend stashing the leftover candy away so that your kids (and you) aren't munching on straight Snickers whenever they want; rather, they'll get to eat some of it in future desserts, like cookies and candy barks.
Check out our favorite leftover candy recipes, many of which even use those rogue bags of mini pretzels that no one wants to eat when there's a perfectly good Twix to be had.
Mini Bette Midler, Is That You? Check Out These Sisters’ Absolutely Incredible Hocus Pocus Costumes
I smell children, Winnie . . . like, really adorable children dressed up in absolutely spot-freakin'-on Sanderson sisters costumes. The Grabenstein sisters of Waco, TX, 6-year-old Landri and 8-year-old twins Alli and Maddi, just crushed the Halloween game weeks before Oct. 31 - and we're not even mad about it. The sisters asked their mom, Heather, if they could watch Hocus Pocus on Oct. 1, and the rest appears to be history.
The girls' costumes were done well ahead of Halloween, so Heather enlisted the help of Heather Rust, a Waco photographer, to snap photos of the girls, who get completely into character as Winnie, Mary, and Sarah.
Check out the photos ahead to see how seriously incredible the girls' transformation into the Sandersons was.

And he's not alone; tons of families make the haul just for the pie. But we just got word that Costco has upped the ante in the baking department this Thanksgiving, and you're going to want to clear some room on the dessert table. Why You Should Take Your Kid on Vacation as Often as Possible
The author's family at Navy Pier
I'll be the first to admit that the thought of taking my 2-year-old anywhere other than the grocery store gives me a mild amount of anxiety. Even relatively simple jaunts to museums and the grandparents' houses require a ridiculous amount of planning, packing, and forethought, and quite frankly, sometimes I just don't want to be bothered. Yet, despite all the baggage that traveling with a toddler comes with (literally and figuratively), I strongly believe that people should take their kids on vacation as far away and as often as possible.
Look, I know that my son isn't really going to get a whole lot out of a trip to Disney World or Jamaica. Chances are he won't even remember it 10 years from now when he becomes a surly and brooding teenager playing with whatever gadget is trendy. It doesn't matter that it won't be a lifelong memory. While some people see it as a waste of time, I see something totally different.
He won't remember or appreciate how excited he became when he rode a roller coaster for the first time or how he jumped and squealed to see his favorite characters from TV in real life, but I will. Taking kids places, while arguably important for them, is also special to the parents. I love watching him explore and challenge himself with new surroundings while getting so joyful about something that he's crying, and these are memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life, even if he will likely forget.
Telling a family not to travel until the kids are old enough to appreciate it is a hallmark of entitlement.
Telling a family not to travel until the kids are old enough to appreciate it is a hallmark of entitlement. From that perspective, only the opinions of the children matter and the parents should quietly wait for their kids to mature to the point where travel becomes more easy. Following this advice, as a parent, I would not get to travel to interesting places for at least another decade, trapped by my child's limited age.
Of course, I could always drop him off at one of his grandparents' or aunt's houses, but that puts so much pressure on the extended family. Besides the restrictive burden that forcing family members to watch my 2-year-old, I'm hesitant to do that because, surprise surprise, I like hanging out with him. As much as flying to a new country and pretending that my husband and I are carefree travelers without children back home, we're just not, and I'm ok with that.
We are currently planning a trip to Poland with my husband's family so we can see where my father-in-law grew up and are planning on bringing our son. This will likely be the only time that our family will get to travel together and my son will get to be in his heritage country with his Papa, and I am not about to not take him because of his age. He will have photos and fragmented memories as a reminder that he got to do something amazing with people who love him.
The author's son ignoring the Chicago skyline
One of the many things I've learned about children in my time as a parent is that kids might not appreciate things in the way you expect or hope but they do so in their own way. Although I might be hoping that he appreciates the grand architecture of a European capital, he might be most interested in chasing pigeons along the cobblestone street and eating a fresh Paczki from a street vendor. Just because it's not an adult's perspective on traveling doesn't make it any less valuable or real.
If I want my son to be a citizen of the world, I cannot and should not shield him from it. Of course, traveling is expensive and as much as I would like to say that we are planning on taking him anywhere and everywhere, we just can't swing it. However, the vacations that we do take will be special and meaningful to each of us in our own unique way. The cost of travel is prohibitive enough without having to factor in whether or not some stranger is judging me from the airplane terminal just because we are deciding to take our son on an adventure.
As often as I can afford it, we are taking our son on trips because everyone deserves a little vacation, even if the memories won't last a lifetime.

The Philogynist Pledge - 10 Ways Men Can Support the Women's Movement
The following post was originally published on Medium.
I believe that in order for the women's movement to be effective, a corollary men's movement must be present. I take this pledge as a way to state my conscious support in moving forward to change a broken system.
1. I Will Lead by Example in the Way I Talk About Women
I know that my children and friends pick up on the generalizations I make about women, whether positive or negative. Intentionally or not, I shape their identity about what it is to be a woman, and how to expect to be treated for being one.
2. I Will Not Accept Traditional Role Models
I believe that a true partnership between the sexes demands a different concept of marriage, an equitable sharing of the responsibilities of home and children, and economic support of the family.
3. I Will Raise My Children to Believe in Gender Equality
I will encourage children to embrace their individual interests and passions, regardless of their gender. The things they can't do will become obvious on their own, and the rest will become possible if they are allowed to dream and have role models.
4. I Will Not Stand For Violence Against a Woman
If a relative, friend, classmate, or teammate is abusive to women, I will not look the other way. I will try to talk to him about it, urge him to seek help, or consult a friend, a parent, or counselor.
5. I Will Mentor Women and Offer Equal Access
If I am in a position to help, I will find at least one woman (and ideally, several) to mentor. Give her thoughtful input on how she can advance and put her name forward for challenging assignments and promotions.
6. I Will Call Out Qualities Other Than Physical Beauty
I will remind her that it is not only appearance that matters. I will focus on positive things about women without pedastalizing. I won't pretend that her looks will never matter, but I will encourage her not to judge herself or let herself be judged only on looks.
7. I Will Make Sure There Is Always Clear Consent
I will be aware of the implicit power dynamic that are often present in sexual relationships between men and women. I am aware that consent is clear, unambiguous, and involves the word yes. It is not the absence of a no.
8. I Will Not Support Politicians Who Marginalize Women
I will not support politicians at any level of government who betray or ignore the principle idea of equal rights and opportunities for all sexes.
9. I Will Learn About the History of the Women's March
I will learn about the history of the women's movement so I can educate youth on what the women of history have done, and how their sacrifices made possible the rights and freedoms we enjoy today.
10. I Will Accept Discomfort
I understand that changing a broken system takes work, and it won't always feel good. Conversations about sexism, racism, transphobia, privilege, cultural appropriation, and other social issues are all related. I will accept discomfort as an important sign that we are making progress and we still have a lot to learn.

It's No Wonder This Desert Resort Is Where Celebrities Are Vacationing - Just Look at It!
Dusty barren dunes and unbearable heat are a couple of things that come to mind when I think about the desert. So spending a week in one and calling it a vacation has never been an option I wanted to consider. This all changed once some of my favorite celebrities started sharing their vacation snaps from one of the most gorgeous desert destinations I've ever seen: the Amangiri Resort.
There is an obvious reason Amangiri, a resort in Canyon Point, UT, has been popping up on your Instagram feed. The celebrity hot spot - which means "peaceful mountain," according to the company's website - has welcomed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Gordon Ramsay, and the Kardashians. Models such as Candice Swanepoel and Emily Ratajkowski also chose to spend a week in this secluded destination for some much-needed privacy. It seems like Amangiri is not only a place of absolute escape, but also a place where you can get lost in pure indulgence. The resort offers a spa, adventures for couples such as rock climbing, and romantic options like hot air balloon flights. What are you waiting for? I'm convinced that a week in south-central Utah might be exactly what I need! Check out these photos and you might be booking that flight sooner than you think.

Bloody Skulls, Skeletal Limbs, Pumpkins, Oh My! This Halloween Wedding Has It All
There are weddings, and then there are Halloween-themed weddings. Same, but different . . . in the best ways! And what makes this wedding even more fun? With intricate Halloween decor transforming its backyard setting, a chuppah built by the bride's father, and a handmade wedding dress by the bride herself, this wedding was one like never before.
The bride and groom, Melanie and Craig, met at an event for the video game World of Warcraft about 10 years ago. "Of the hundred-thousand people, we happened to be at the same place at the same time when the enemy faction came to raid the quest area we were in. We both ended up hiding under an overturned boat waiting for them to leave. Serendipity? Fate? Luck? We don't know, but life certainly has a sense of humor," the bride said.
The wedding took place at the groom's sister's beautiful 200-year-old home, which was intricately decorated in goo and gore for the Halloween-inspired festivity. Everything from bloody skulls and skeletal limbs to pumpkins of all sizes adorned the venue. And to complete the theme, the flower girl carried a cauldron full of petals. The whole wedding was absolutely boo-tiful! Get all the Halloween feels with these spooky (and romantic) photos ahead.

Venus Is in Retrograde Right Now, and Here's How It Will Affect You
Venus is currently in retrograde for 2018. If you've been feeling a shift in your life lately, this is likely the culprit! Venus in retrograde began on Oct. 5 and will be continuing until Nov. 16. This can impact your life in many ways. Whether it's feeling more impulsive, changes in your love life, or bringing things to light . . . we can blame it on the stars! POPSUGAR reached out to Jinn, an astrologist from Angels Oasis, via email to find out more about Venus in retrograde and how it will impact your life. She warns that some of us may be in for a bumpy ride, but the good news is we will be riding out to fix potholes in the road.
Love Life
Since Venus is known to stir things up, your love life may be affected. Whether this is an old lover resurfacing or a committed relationship with problems arising, something may come to light that causes uncomfortable tension. This can be the perfect time to work these past issues out and move forward in a positive way.
Personal Life
Jinn says this will be a time to clear the air and have understanding, compassion, and respect. The next few weeks might be emotional and uncomfortable, but they are necessary.
Work Life
While Venus is in retrograde, we may find interpersonal relationships to be strained. This may cause issues with business interactions, as it can be harder to connect with others. Be careful with your words.
Your Well-Being
Things may be coming up to the surface that affect your well-being. Jinn suggests that you stop and take a breath when you feel your stress and emotions rising.
Making Changes
Jinn says that the retrograde begins in the sign of Scorpio. She refers to Scorpio as the Sherlock Holmes of the zodiac. She warns that if there are things to be uncovered, Scorpio will find them. In the end, however, the changes that will happen will be in your best interest. Make them wisely!
Misunderstandings
Jinn advises that you have an opportunity to find out why others react the way that they do. It can help you and others to tell your truth, but be mindful not to cause unnecessary harm. You will be rethinking your own actions, and it may bring unknown intentions out to light.

This Dog Drops His Ball on the Sidewalk So Someone Will Play With Him, and Hey, I'm Available
This good wall-doggo dropped his ballo but fear not I returned it to him and thanked him for his service pic.twitter.com/ybsVME5xCp
- Johnny Berchtold 🎃🔪 (@JohnnyBerchtold) September 1, 2018
Riley, a sweet Golden Retriever from California, always has one thing on his mind: fetch. But rather than sit around and whine for his humans to throw the ball for him, he's been enlisting the help of random strangers walking by his house. In a tweet that's making its rounds on social media, a man named Johnny Berchtold caught Riley's strategic play on camera.
"Dropping the ball works almost 100 percent of the time," Riley's owner, Wendy Walden, told The Dodo. "Sometimes he misses his mark (not all people love dogs), but then we would always find the ball sitting on the wall because someone picked it up."
By all accounts, Riley doesn't have to try that hard to get a little attention. Most people, including Johnny, popped over for a visit willingly. "I saw Riley across the street and obviously freaked out because of how strikingly cute the sight was," he said. "I had to capture it in that moment, and that's when I realized he had a toy in his mouth. He dropped the ball over the wall, and the video cuts out because I had to return the ball - he was looking right at me!"
Despite the fact that Johnny was well aware he was getting played, it doesn't seem to bother him one bit. "After I returned the ball, I shook his paw and rubbed his head, and he seemed to thoroughly enjoy the attention, which is when I realized that it was just a cute scheme to get said attention."
