Matthew McConaughey Got THIS CLOSE to Playing Jack in Titanic, and He's Still Not Over It

You probably know Matthew McConaughey for his role in everything from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days to his Oscar-winning turn in 2013's Dallas Buyers Club, but what you might not know is that he came this close to playing Jack in Titanic instead of Leonardo DiCaprio. While appearing on The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, McConaughey once again brought up the fact that he auditioned for the 1997 film. In fact, he was so close to getting the part that he even ended up in a screen test with eventual Rose Dawson herself, Kate Winslet.

"I went and auditioned for that," he said of James Cameron's box office smash. "I wanted that. I auditioned with Kate Winslet. Had a good audition. Walked away from there pretty confident that I had it. I didn't get it. I never got offered that."

Funnily enough, Cameron reportedly had McConaughey and Gwyneth Paltrow in mind for the roles of Jack and Rose originally, rather than DiCaprio and Winslet. It's pretty insane to imagine that if the White Boy Rick had nabbed the part, Jack's reply when he realized he couldn't fit on the door might've been "It's alright, alright, alright . . ."

In case that joke wasn't bad enough to make you immediately click out of this article, keep reading to see some of Winslet and DiCaprio's best moments from the film.

Netflix Officially Kicked Off the Holiday Season With a New Movie, and Fans Are Loving It

Spooky season has officially ended, and that means it's the perfect time to start watching holiday movies! Honestly, it's never too soon, so if you've already been binge-watching them, we won't judge.

On Nov. 2, Netflix released the first of its four new original Christmas movies, The Holiday Calendar. Unlike the streaming channel's smash hit from last year, A Christmas Prince, this festive rom-com is pretty grounded in reality - although there is a magical Advent calendar involved. The story follows Abby (played by The Vampire Diaries' Kat Graham), an aspiring photographer who receives said magical Advent calendar from her grandfather (the great Ron Cephas Jones). Throughout the film, Abby juggles a dead-end job as a studio photographer, her supposed dream man, Ty (Ethan Peck), and her childhood best friend Josh (Quincy Brown), who she has undeniable chemistry with. Long story short - there's just the right mix of holiday shenanigans and romance to satisfy your cheesy love story fix.

Viewers definitely appreciated the festive cheer from The Holiday Calendar, which they happily expressed online. Read some of the sweetest reviews ahead, then check out some other romantic Christmas movies you can find on Netflix to get you in the holiday mood.

These 2 Exercises Will Target the Muscles in Your Legs and Abs You Didn't Even Know You Had

As much as I try to stay active, I tend to stick to the same types of workouts: Spinning, weight training, Rumble, and running on the treadmill. And even though I like HIIT-style training, the difficulty and style of workouts depends on which boutique studio I go to.

In an effort to get outside of my comfort zone and try something new, I took a HIIT class at Exhale Meatpacking, which offers barre and HIIT classes. Since I had two free classes at Exhale from the Get Fit package at the Gansevoort Meatpacking hotel (and I'm not a huge fan of barre), I figured I would try something new.

The class was an hour and consisted of a variety of stations, including a TRX, free weights, resistance bands, and disc sliders. Each station had two exercises, and each exercise was done for a full minute followed by 10 seconds of rest. We did the whole circuit two times through. Although each station provided a unique challenge, I was particularly sweaty and sore after the disc slider station.

We started with side lunges on the sliders, focusing on one leg per round (do the first minute on the left leg, then the second minute on the right leg). After that, we did a plank to bear, which also worked my abs. Since my core is the weakest part of my body, I especially felt that move.

Read through to see how to do each move. If you don't have a set of disc sliders ($10 on Amazon), feel free to use two towels on a hard surface or paper plates on carpet. Start with the side lunges for a full minute, then rest for 10 seconds before moving on to the plank to bear for a full minute, followed by 10 seconds of rest. Do this four times through for a total of a little over nine minutes. This is great to add to your leg day workout or to incorporate into your own HIIT circuit.

Get ready to be sore and sweaty!

12 Simple Steps to Lose Weight in 2019

You don't need a calendar to know it's time for New Year's resolutions. Just swing by a gym the first week of January and you'll know from the resolution-ready crowd getting their sweat on and taking up the treadmills that you're not the only one who is determined to lose some weight and get stronger than ever this new year. But setting a general goal to lose the weight can feel daunting, and sometimes even impossible, so here is a list of 12 simple steps. Start with one, and build on them each month to help you reach weight-loss success. Each one is practical, manageable, and - most importantly - easy enough to do all year long without having to think twice about it.

Eating This High-Protein Snack Before Bed Can Improve Your Metabolism, Study Finds

If you've ever looked up how to boost your metabolism, you've probably come across tips that seem too good to be true. A few common ones are drinking water in the morning and eating more spicy foods for a metabolism boost, but it turns out, they don't affect much.

Although chugging water first thing in the morning won't improve your metabolism, a recent study published in the British Journal of Nutrition found that a natural way to boost your metabolism is to consume cottage cheese before going to bed.

To determine if cottage cheese had an immediate impact on metabolic rate and muscle recovery, Michael Ormsbee, PhD, associate professor of nutrition, food, and exercise sciences at Florida State University, and Samantha Leyh, RD, research dietitian with the Air Force, gave female participants in their 20s cottage cheese, casein protein supplement, or a placebo about 30-60 minutes before bed.

The participants had their resting energy expenditure (REE) measured before going to sleep, and upon waking, the participants' REE was measured again. They concluded that consuming "30 grams of protein about 30 minutes before bed appears to have a positive effect on muscle quality, metabolism, and overall health." The also concluded that whole foods (such as cottage cheese) work just as well as a protein supplement, like a protein powder smoothie.

Other experts have also agreed that one of the best ways to naturally improve your metabolism is by eating more protein and healthy fats and doing more strength training.

Bob Harper Reveals the Carbs He Ate to Lose 40 Pounds, and They're Delicious

Bob Harper has helped hundreds of people lose weight as a trainer and host of The Biggest Loser. But the superfit fitness guru, who suffered a heart attack in 2017 and is sharing his story as part of AstraZeneca's Survivors Have Heart program, has transformed his own life. He lost 40 pounds and shifted from a low-carb Paleo diet to a low-fat, carb-friendly diet.

In fact, Bob wrote all about how carbs are not only allowed on a diet plan but can actually help you lose weight in his book The Super Carb Diet. He told POPSUGAR that he lost 40 pounds after his heart attack and has been eating carbs every single day. Not only are they an essential macronutrient, but carbs give you the energy you need to perform your workouts.

As far as the carbs Bob eats to stay in shape, he sticks to fiber-rich whole grains and root vegetables. "I'll do whole grain bread," he told POPSUGAR. "I've gotten on this kick of eating brown rice cakes; I eat them all the time now." For breakfast, he'll have a rice cake with peanut butter and some yogurt. He also does brown rice if he's craving a carb as a side, or sweet potatoes or regular potatoes.

Overall, Bob said people will feel better if they incorporate carbs back into their diet and balance their plate with protein and fat. You don't need to tell us twice to eat carbs - pass the sweet potatoes!

This Fat-Loss Pyramid Shows the 3 Simple Things You Need to Do to Get Lean

With so much advice and so many different diets out there, it can be confusing to figure out the easiest and most effective method for losing fat. Fitness trainer and fat-loss coach Ivica Fridrih (@ivicafridrih on Instagram) said in a recent post that most people who want to lose weight "overcomplicate the process by thinking they have to follow a specific diet or have to quit all of their favorite foods or some third unsustainable BS…" He added that it's not your fault for being confused with all the misinformation out there, especially for those just getting started on their weight-loss journeys.

If you have a couple of pounds to lose (or more), Ivica said to keep things simple, and do these three things. You'll get the best results while still enjoying life and without having to follow restrictive diet nonsense.

  1. Consistently be in a calorie deficit: ACE-certified personal trainer Susan Niebergall (@susanniebergallfitness on Instagram) said you can calculate your calorie deficit by multiplying your bodyweight by 10 to 12. Your caloric intake should fall somewhere within these numbers. (For a more accurate target calorie number, use this formula). Eating fewer calories than your body needs will help you lose fat. You can do this by measuring your food and counting calories or with intermittent fasting.
  2. Consume enough protein: This is important to maintain muscle mass, recover from workouts, and keep you feeling satiated. Your other calories can come from healthy carbs and fats. Aim to consume 0.7 to 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight.
  3. Lift: Weight training coupled with eating enough protein will help you maintain (and maybe even build) muscle so you are almost exclusively losing body fat, explained certified strength and conditioning specialist Sohee Lee. Focus on two to five sessions per week. NASM-certified personal trainer Sam Altieri said usually three to four is a sweet spot for most people. And don't be afraid to lift heavy - it won't make you bulky unless you eat too many calories.

You Won't Believe the Workout That Helped Me Drop 75 Pounds in 6 Months

Six months ago, I made the decision to reclaim my health. It wouldn't be easy, but it had to be done. I changed my diet and knew that, in order to keep making progress, I would need to exercise as well. When I lost weight many years ago, I worked out daily and spent hours doing intense cardio - I was addicted to the gym. I knew that wasn't the route I wanted to go this time, so I decided to keep it simple and do what I've always enjoyed: I began walking daily, and I haven't stopped since.

I walk for about an hour each day - sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. And while that may seem like a big chunk of the day to dedicate to exercise, you'd be surprised how easily you can chip away at it, simply by going for a walk over your lunch or pacing around the house during a phone call.

While I don't like to focus on the number on the scale, I've lost 75 pounds, doing nothing more than eating healthfully and moving my body each and every day.

I'm proof that even something as simple as walking can transform your body if you stick with it, but that last part is key. Walking works for me because I enjoy it so much. I plan nature walks with friends and pick up the pace to a light jog during the day when my son joins me on his bike. (I can keep up a lot easier now, 75 pounds lighter and with hundreds of miles under my belt.) My daughter loves to walk with me in the evenings. We walk around our neighborhood for 30 minutes, one of my favorite times to talk and connect. I've always wanted to be a good role model for my children, and I love that we're spending time together in such a healthy and active way.

Other times I squeeze in all of my walking after everyone else has gone to bed. Being alone with my thoughts under the stars is a beautiful way to end the day.

I've learned that your weight-loss journey doesn't have to be about numbers or how heavy of weights you can lift. Exercise should be one of your favorite parts of the day, never something you dread. If walking isn't your thing, try to find something that is - when you treat your body right, it'll repay you. I know mine has.

According to Experts, This Is the Most Effective Way For Women to Lose Belly Fat

When it comes to burning body fat, a lot of women have the same target area: the belly. Much to the chagrin of many of us, belly fat is notoriously stubborn, and it's important to note that you can't spot reduce fat. In other words, simply being diligent about crunches isn't going to help you achieve your goal.

"Just as you can not influence where your body stores dreaded excess fat when it packs it on, you can't control where your metabolism opts to pull from when it taps into fat stores, which incidentally tends not to be from the region we gain it in the first place," Corey Phelps, founder and CEO of Cultivate by Corey and creator of the Cultivate365 program, told POPSUGAR.

That's not to say that we're powerless to reduce belly fat. A combination of diet and exercise can help us achieve this goal in a healthy manner. What types of diet and exercise, you ask? Here's what experts have to say about the nutrition and workout aspects of losing belly fat - and keeping it off.

The Queen Has Reportedly Invited Meghan Markle's Mom to Spend Christmas With the Royals

As the holiday season approaches and we nail down our travel plans, so too are members of the British royal family. Their Christmas schedule stays pretty much the same year after year - signing cards in the Summer, taking the royal train to Sandringham, black-tie dinner and drinks on Christmas Eve - and this year, there will be a new addition to the royal festivities. The Daily Mail reported on Sunday that Queen Elizabeth II has extended an invitation to Meghan Markle's mom, Doria Ragland, "as a mark of her respect" for Meghan. It will be Doria's first time hanging with the royal family since watching her daughter walk down the aisle to marry Prince Harry in May, though she did jet over to London for the launch of Meghan's cookbook in September. Who else can't wait to see Miss Doria's fly church hat on Christmas morning?

The "very thoughtful gesture" of inviting Doria to spend Christmas with the royals at their Norfolk castle is also a pretty unprecedented one: while Kate Middleton's parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, have joined the royal family for Christmas church service, they've never stayed at Sandringham, as Doria likely will. The moment should also serve as a nice full-circle one for Meghan, who just last year broke royal protocol when she was invited to spend Christmas with her then-fiancé's family for the first time (usually, royals need to be married for their other half to be welcomed to such major family events). Even sweeter than this news? The thought of Doria joining Meghan and the royals next Christmas and getting to celebrate with her first grandchild. Keep reading to see photos of Doria's encounters with the royals so far.

Tyra Banks Is Back and "Butter" Than Ever in the New Trailer For Life-Size 2

Your extraspecial friend Eve the Barbie is coming back to life in Life-Size 2. Tyra Banks reprises her role as the fun-loving, carefree doll, and it looks as if she's maintained the same charm she had in the original 2000 movie. This time around, the film centers on a CEO named Grace (Raisa) who runs a toy company called Marathon Toys. As soon as the company begins to fail and Grace feels like she's way in over her head, her old doll Eve magically comes back to life to help her save Marathon Toys and get back on track. Oh, and she manages to slam down a serving of butter like she did in the first film. Watch Eve reawaken for a second go-around in the real world - and catch a few feelings for a new guy - in the trailer above before the movie premieres Dec. 2 on Freeform.

No One Is More Excited For the Spice Girls' Reunion Than Adele

Unless you live under a rock, chances are you heard the exciting news: the Spice Girls are reuniting for another tour! Without Victoria Beckham, it's true, but we'll still have quite the raucous fun time with the other four members: Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, and Melanie Chisholm. Immediately following the news, the internet flooded with excited reactions from longtime fans. Among them was none other than soulful British queen Adele, who shared an amazing throwback on Instagram to prove just how loyal a fan she's been. "HA!" she wrote. "This is how I feel right now! I AM READY." We haven't heard a lot from Adele since she ended her tour in Summer 2017, except for her adorable celebration of Beychella this past Spring. Rest assured, though, we'll see her getting her whole entire life at a Spice Girls concert come Spring.

Just a Note For The Walking Dead Fans: Those Talking Walkers Are a Sign of Big Trouble

Warning: spoilers for The Walking Dead below.

Well, it finally happened, folks. Rick Grimes, in all his bow-legged, apocalyptic sheriff glory, has left The Walking Dead. Sort of.

If you watched the latest episode, "What Comes After," you know that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) doesn't actually die like we've all been led to believe he will. Unbeknownst to his family, Rick doesn't perish after blowing up the much-discussed bridge connecting the established communities that's infested with walkers. His wounded body is tossed into the river and washes ashore downstream, where Jadis spots him and convinces the mysterious helicopter people to take him to safety. Since apparently being blown off a bridge causes Rick to not give a f*ck about his family anymore, we're to believe he stays away and will never be seen on the TV series again.

While Rick's story will live on via three feature-length movies that will air on AMC, what's really concerning is what happens with his family after his disappearance. The end of "What Comes After" shows a family broken by the "death" of their leader before flashing forward a number of years (yes, again) to introduce us to a new face with a familiar name. It's six years after Rick has disappeared, and Judith Grimes is all grown up. It looks like everyone has changed in the past few years - just in time for the littlest Grimes to introduce a new group of survivors to her family in Alexandria. But as the promo for the final episodes of the season proves, there's something sinister afoot that our favorites should be on the lookout for.

As the promo gives us flashes of Alexandria dealing with these new inhabitants, it also highlights the survivors contending with strange new behavior among their walker foes. In one scene, Daryl, Aaron, and Jesus observe a horde of walkers "just milling around" in a field, noting that they've never seen them do that before. In another scene, Eugene and Rosita hide from a walker horde, from which a voice asks, "Where are they?" As in a walker speaks. Drawing a (somewhat) logical conclusion, Eugene's voice-over declares that the walkers must be evolving. Which could be happening, but I highly doubt it. Since the walkers absolutely do not speak in TWD's graphic novels, it's safe to say they also won't in the show. There are really only two ways the rest of this season can go. Let's break it all down, shall we?

Dancing With the Stars Season 27: Find Out Who Got Eliminated

Dancing With the Stars is officially back for season 27! This season, the cast includes quite a few familiar faces, including a Fuller House actor, a Harry Potter alum, and a Bachelor Nation star. Find out who was eliminated ahead, and be sure to check back each week to see who is still in the running for the Mirrorball Trophy.

You'll Never Listen to the Spice Girls's "Wannabe" the Same Way Again After This

Remember when you were a kid and you would spend hours in front of the mirror singing the Spice Girls's "Wannabe" at the top of your lungs with your friends? (No judgment if you still do.) Well, it turns out the catchy pop song is about more than just friendship never ending. One of the track's cowriters spoke to the Daily Star back in December 2015 and revealed the explicit meaning behind the 1996 hit.

According to the insider, the famous line "Zig-a-zig-ah" was inspired by the phrase "Sh*t and cigars," which has to do with the Shoreditch, London, studio the girls shared with bands like Orbital and the Chemical Brothers. "This guy had this nasty habit of taking a dump in the shared khazi while smoking a cigar, so we took to referring to him as 'Sh*t and Cigars,'" the source explained. "During the recording, this phrase was thrown around a lot and must have worked its way into Mel B's subconscious who pretty much wrote all the lyrics. She may have considered 'Sh*t and Cigar' for a minute, but eventually settled on 'Zig-a-zig-ah' instead."

The insider also revealed that the lines, "We got 'em in the place who likes it in your face / We got G like MC who likes it on an E" are about "enjoying sex whilst on ecstasy." Wow, consider us mind-blown.

“Thank U, Next” Is Getting the Pop Culture Meme Treatment, and We’re Laughing Hard at These

The internet seems pretty "f*cking grateful" for Ariana Grande's new song "Thank U, Next." The self-love anthem has shaken charts and fans' hearts ever since its drop, so is it really a surprise that the memes started rolling in almost immediately?

Grande's track begins by thanking her exes by name (don't worry, they had a heads up), for the lessons each relationship taught her. "One taught me love, one taught me patience, and one taught me pain . . ." she sings. Fans snatched up these three lines and ran with them, giving the heartfelt words a type of pop culture treatment only the depths of the internet can provide. Check out a few of our favorites below; these lyrics take on a whole new meaning when they're applied to Michael Scott's love life!

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck Reunite For Sunday Church Service With Their Kids

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck had a friendly reunion at Sunday church service with their three kids - Samuel, Seraphina, and Violet - in LA over the weekend. The exes appeared to be in good spirits as they chatted outside and Ben casually placed his hand on Jen's shoulder.

Ben and Jen officially finalized their divorce in October, and it's clear they're both ready to move on. Jen is reportedly dating tech CEO John Miller, while Ben is focusing on his sobriety. According to Us Weekly, the exes have "immense love and respect for one another" and will continue to coparent together. Ben ultimately just wants Jen to be happy and "will always be supportive of any decisions she makes." It just goes to show that exes can be friends.

Here's a Fun Fact to File Away: Busy Philipps's Name Isn't Actually Busy

Not only did actress Busy Philipps recently release a memoir, This Will Only Hurt a Little, but her new late-night talk show, Busy Tonight ,premiered on E! at the end of October and has already featured A-list guests like Julia Roberts, Kristen Bell, and Mindy Kaling. If that wasn't keeping her preoccupied enough, she's also a mom of two with a hilarious Instagram account. You could say that she's really living up to her name these days.

But - plot twist - Busy's real name isn't actually Busy! I sort of wish it was, because it's cute and quirky and suits her personality so well, but Busy was actually born Elizabeth Jean Philipps on June 25, 1979. She was given the nickname Busy as a baby because she was so active, and she's been using it ever since. Growing up with the moniker also inspired how she and husband Marc Silverstein chose names for their daughters, Birdie and Cricket. In a 2014 Today Show interview, Busy explained, "Since I grew up with a nickname - Busy being short for Elizabeth - when my husband and I started to have our babies, we decided that if we wanted to call our kids something, we would just name them that thing that we wanted to call them." Now that you know Busy's real name, check out even more stars whose given names may surprise you.

Anna and the Apocalypse Is Easily Hollywood's Most Unique Zombie Movie - Watch Our Exclusive Clip!

Just when we thought we'd seen everything the zombie genre had to offer, Anna and the Apocalypse arrived with a fresh - and deeply gory - new perspective. Although the film includes plenty of undead blood and guts, it's also 1.) technically a Christmas movie, and 2.) a musical. Wild, right? In it, a zombie apocalypse blossoms in the small town of Little Haven over the holidays, forcing Anna (Ella Hunt) and her friends to battle for survival against their newly zombie-fied loved ones while also belting out original songs.

Something tells us the minds of Rick, Michonne, and the rest of The Walking Dead crew would be totally blown. Watch our exclusive clip above before Anna and the Apocalypse premieres on Nov. 30, then check out all the other films we're excited to see this month.

The Top 14 Wildest Things That Have Happened on Ryan Murphy's 9-1-1

Any fan of Ryan Murphy knows that the man has a gift for creating buzzworthy TV shows. From Nip/Tuck to American Horror Story, Murphy has developed a score of shows that are so wildly different from one another, there's no way to guess where he's going next. One such project of his, that I personally feel is vastly underrated, is his Fox procedural drama 9-1-1, which follows the lives of Los Angeles first responders.

Now in its second season, 9-1-1 brings a lot to the table; it boasts a star-studded cast (that includes Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Aisha Hinds, and Jennifer Love Hewitt), has heartwarming stories about the family you're born with and the family you choose, and delivers lots of the soapy drama that we all know and love. It also features some of the wildest emergencies imaginable, some of which have actually happened. I'm talking rescuing folks from having their heads stuck in a microwave with cement, helping pregnant ladies who fly into labor during yoga, and evicting a seven-foot tapeworm out of a man's nether regions. Yeah, you'll never eat sushi again after that one.

If you won't watch for the highly attractive people giving you This Is Us levels of emotional devastation, watch for the batsh*t crazy situations they have to rescue people from! Come along and let me take you through some of the most jaw-dropping crises featured on 9-1-1. You won't be able to resist checking it out for yourself when you're done.

How Khloé Kardashian Actually Found Out About Tristan Thompson's Cheating Scandal

Khloé Kardashian may have forgiven Tristan Thompson for cheating on her while she was pregnant with baby True, but the 34-year-old reality TV star had to relive the entire thing all over again on Sunday night's episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Before the episode even aired, Khloé tweeted that it would be an "uncomfortable and super emotional one" for her. "To relive these moments all over again is incredibly difficult emotionally," she added. "But I also hope that every trial, tribulation and curve ball life throws at us, that we all get to learn from our journeys."

During Sunday's episode, it was revealed that Kylie Jenner was actually the one who broke the devastating news to her sister, who was living in Cleveland at the time. "I can't believe Kylie thought she would hurt my feelings 😩" Khloé tweeted. "I needed to see what was happening and better from my family then by someone else." Naturally, Kris Jenner, Kim Karadashian, and BFF Malika Haqq all jumped on the next flight out from LA to be by Khloé's side.

Khloé gave birth to her beautiful daughter True just days later in April, and from the looks of it, she's chosen to give Tristan another chance. Still, it hasn't been easy. According to People, Khloé has been having a "really tough time" and has "a lot of hurt and anger." She also recently moved back to Ohio and was spotted supporting the NBA player at a home game at the Quicken Loans Arena. "Khloé wants so badly for True to have a happy family," a source told the outlet. "She wants to do what's best for her daughter, and to her that means being with Tristan." Check out Khloé's tweets ahead.

Minerva McGonagall Will Appear in Fantastic Beasts 2, and We're Not Ready For the Sass

We're very close to the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but new details are still emerging every day. Most recently Warner Bros. sneakily confirmed the inclusion of another iconic Harry Potter character. In a final casting sheet released by the studio at the beginning of November, one name appeared that had been hitherto unmentioned: Minerva McGonagall! The young version of the beloved Hogwarts professor will be played by Fiona Glascott.

The news comes not long after the confirmation that the new film will also include the mythical Nagini, the cursed Maledictus who eventually falls into the care of Lord Voldemort himself. Then, of course, there's the headmaster himself, Albus Dumbledore, who appears in the trailer and may not be as explicitly gay as we'd like. But alas, I digress. In any event, McGonagall is one of the sassiest professors at Hogwarts, and we can't wait to see what she was like in her more formative years.

Look, I love my job and all, but I, like most other people, usually dread Mondays. After two short days of sleeping in, catching up with friends, and eating my weight in brunch food, I have to reluctantly drag my somehow-still-tired self back to the office and tackle yet another work week. At least that's how I viewed things before I met Jonathan Van Ness. I had the pleasure of chatting with the Queer Eye star at an event to celebrate the launch of Lipton's new line of wellness teas, and he pretty much convinced me on the spot that Mondays aren't so bad after all.

"[Mondays] get a bad reputation and it's not even their fault. She's just a gorgeous one-seventh part of the week."

"[Mondays] get a bad reputation and it's not even their fault. She's just a gorgeous one-seventh part of the week," Jonathan told me during Lipton's Stress Less Monday event in New York. He added, "She's been doing her part for all this time. She does all the things that the other days do, y'know? My mom always said that it's never really the situation, it's usually just our perception of it." Well, ain't that the truth! I found myself nodding so hard in agreement as Jonathan radiated contagious positivity, vowing that I'd think of his encouraging outlook when my Monday morning alarm goes off, rather than letting out a disgruntled groan like I usually do.

Though one of Jonathan's go-to tactics for avoiding the Monday blues is sipping Lipton's caffeine-free Stress Less Tea, he sees wellness as a "multi-pronged approach" and uses plenty of other tactics to alleviate stress throughout the day. He usually kickstarts his day with a morning workout to get the endorphins flowing, and if he's filming episodes of Queer Eye with his fellow Fab Five members, they frequently make DIY face masks together during breaks, he told me. He's also constantly challenging himself to squeeze in alone time so he can recharge and build boundaries for himself. "You have to give yourself permission to say yes to taking care of yourself," he said.

Come nighttime, Jonathan's usual power-down routine involves being in bed by 10 p.m., spending time with his cats, and binge-watching The Great British Bake Off. "I almost think [the show] should come with a warning label because she's very insidious; you don't see it coming, and then next thing you know you're canceling plans and playing hooky to stay home [to watch]," he told me of the popular series on Netflix. Consider this your motivation to finally hop on The Great British Bake Off bandwagon - oh, and the Stress Less Tea one, too, for that matter.

Exclusive: Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen Form an Unlikely Friendship in Green Book Clip

If you're wondering what film you should see this month, let us help you out real quick by recommending Green Book. The Peter Farrelly-directed drama, which premieres on Nov. 21, is currently raking in accolades like the People's Choice award at the Toronto International Film Festival, and it's not hard to see why.

Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali stars as Dr. Don Shirley, a world-class black pianist, who hires Tony Lip (Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen), a Bronx-born bouncer, to drive him on a concert tour that extends from Manhattan to the Deep South. Using the "Green Book," which serves as a guide to the establishments that were safe at the time for African-Americans, the pair navigate the ups and downs of their lengthy road trip together.

In our exclusive (and pretty funny) clip above, you'll get a glimpse of the unlikely friendship that blossoms between the real-life duo. Check it out, and then see all the other movies we're excited about this Fall.

Yep, Ariana Grande Let 2 of Her Exes Listen to "Thank U, Next" Before It Dropped

ICYMI, Ariana Grande pulled the power move of the year on Nov. 3, releasing a brand-new song titled "Thank U, Next" just 30 minutes before her most recent ex and now-former fiancé, Pete Davidson, was set to appear on Saturday Night Live. A powerful self-love anthem about healing and moving on, the track name-drops a handful of Ariana's past lovers, including Pete, Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, and Mac Miller, all of whom she's "so f*cking grateful for." Of course, as soon as the song dropped, fans were sent into a tizzy, with many wondering how the men she referenced feel about being directly called out by name.

As it turns out, two of Ariana's exes actually listened to the track before it came out. I mean, did you expect anything less than that from such a mature, benevolent queen? When a fan on Twitter joked about how confused Big Sean and Ricky likely were while hearing their names in "Thank U, Next," Ariana cleared the air and replied to the tweet, writing, "they heard it before it came out."

No word on whether Pete heard the bop beforehand, but he did call her a "wonderful, strong person" and "wish her all the happiness in the world" during the Nov. 3 episode of Saturday Night Live. It certainly seems like there's no bad blood between these two - or between Ariana and her other exes, for that matter.

WHOA: There's a Reason the High School From Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Looks So Familiar

If you've been watching Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix, chances are you've picked up on a lot of cool and creepy details. Like that very subtle Riverdale cameo, or the addictive (and very well-thought-out) soundtrack. But if you're like me, a fellow Netflix junkie who is also obsessed with To All the Boys I've Loved Before, another thing you probably noticed not too far into episode one is how familiar Sabrina's school, Baxter High, looks. While Greendale's version is obviously a lot darker with gray, green, and maroon tones (much like Sabrina's killer wardrobe), the halls seem eerily similar to Adler High School, the one attended by Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky in TATBILB.

While there doesn't seem to be any confirmation that Sabrina and TATBILB were filmed at the same school, there are clues. Many scenes for both were shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, which means it's pretty likely they could have used the same school for hallway scenes (Sabrina used Lord Strathcona Elementary School in Vancouver for exterior shots). Another very telling clue is that some of TATBILB's high school scenes were shot at Point Grey Secondary School, which has also been used in Riverdale, the show that shares a universe with Sabrina.

Maybe TATBILB also shares a universe with Sabrina and Riverdale and we just don't know it yet because of some spell cast by b*tchy Aunt Zelda? Or maybe Lara Jean wrote a sixth love letter to Ambrose, because, let's face it, that warlock is hot? OK, fine - while we know these two Netflix hits are in no way connected, we can still eat up the fact that their characters probably walked the same halls. To see more of the schools' similarities, keep reading.

CoverGirl Has Some HUGE News That Will Make Animal-Lovers Very Happy

Approachable packaging, a fun color selection, affordable prices: there are plenty of reasons CoverGirl was probably one of the first brands you fell in love with. Now, as an adult, you can continue to adore its makeup responsibly, because the company just earned a Leaping Bunny seal from Cruelty Free International.

The announcement symbolizes the brand's commitment to ethical testing and means that no CoverGirl products or ingredients have been tested on animals by the brand or its suppliers. It's the largest cosmetics company to receive this certification so far, according to data reported by market research firm Nielsen. CMO of Coty Consumer Beauty Ukonwa Ojo feels that this move is aligned with CoverGirl's new brand vision. "When we unveiled the brand reinvention, I Am What I Make Up, nearly one year ago today, we also unveiled a new chapter in CoverGirl's history; one whose pages are written in ethical beauty choices which are accessible and affordable for all," Ojo explained.

CoverGirl has become even more inclusive in recent years, using a male CoverBoy, athletes, and more to represent its diverse customers. We're thrilled to see that now animal-lovers can indulge in CoverGirl completely guilt-free.

This Dessert-Inspired Body-Care Line Doubles Down on Salted Caramel

The early 2000s were a simpler time, when we watched Jessica Simpson figure out if tuna was chicken or fish. In addition to her Newlyweds shenanigans alongside Nick Lachey, the stunning blonde had a cosmetics line at Sephora called Dessert Beauty. Each scent was sugary, sweet, and over the top, and we've been grieving the loss of the brand until now.

Body-care brand Being by Sanctuary Spa has spunky, fun packaging and the same sugary-sweet scents Simpson's line was famous for. One product in particular, the Salted Caramel & Macadamia Bath Bomb, smells exactly like our preteen favorite. The scent can be found in a ton of different products from the company, all available at Ulta. Check them all out ahead.

9 Beauty Ornaments For Your Most Gorgeous Christmas Ever

Christmas ornaments already have their charms. They're shiny, sparkly, and can carry a ton of sentimental value (see the fingerpainted ornament that I made in kindergarten that my father refuses to throw away). Add a beauty product inside, and it crosses the line from charming to straight-up impressive, because who wouldn't be excited to decorate their tree with long-lasting lipsticks or the mini version of the Fenty Beauty product they included on their list to Santa? Below are the prettiest beauty ornaments of 2018. Sneak one of these onto the tree to delight your beauty-loving friends.

Julia Roberts Talks About Her 1999 Red Carpet Armpit Hair: "The Picture Is Vivid in My Mind"

Some things stick with us forever, and for Julia Roberts, it was a 1999 red carpet moment. On Sunday night, the actress sat down with Busy Philipps for her new late-night TV show, Busy Tonight, where the host raved about Roberts's new Amazon Prime show, Homecoming, and how she's been a longtime JR fan. Philipps wasted no time before asking the actress about the 1999 London premiere of Notting Hill, where Roberts stunned in a red sequined dress and flashed unshaven armpit hair while waving during an interview.

Well, Roberts is now revealing that it wasn't a feminist declaration but simply an accident. "I think I just hadn't really calculated my sleeve length and the waving, and how those two things would go together and reveal personal things about me," she said in the video, adding that the red carpet photo "is vivid in my mind."

"It wasn't so much a 'statement,' as it's just part of the statement I make as a human on the planet." More recently, celebrities like Paris Jackson, Lady Gaga, and Bella Thorne have ditched their razors in the name of feminism. Last year, a study conducted among 2,000 millennial women found that 87 percent agreed there's "too much pressure on women to remove or groom body hair." Watch Roberts's interview with Philipps ahead, and see photos of the red carpet moment.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin Got Couples' Tattoos, but They're Pretty Tough to Spot

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin secretly made their bond permanent before they ever tied the knot. Celebrity tattoo artist BangBang, aka Keith McCurdy, told Page Six TV he gave the now-married couple some ink that has stayed pretty under the radar.

"They each got a tattoo," revealed McCurdy. "Justin's tattoo is on his face, and I haven't seen any photos of it - so he's doing a good job of laying low."

Seems like a face tattoo would be pretty hard to miss, but McCurdy clarifies the ink, located around Bieber's eyebrow, is "really thin and delicate." Fans speculate that a July photo of Bieber may give a glimpse of the tattoo, which appears to be the word "grace."

While McCurdy revealed a few details about Bieber's ink, he stayed quiet about Baldwin's addition to her collection of 19 tiny tattoos. He simply said the pair didn't opt for "a traditional couples' tattoo." With vague details like that, there's really only one question left for McCurdy: what do you mean?

If You're Obsessed With Foiled Eye Shadow, This Palette Will Blow Your Mind

My jaw nearly dropped to the floor the first time I saw the stunning metallic hues in Jouer's Making Magic Ulta Foil Eye Shadow Palette Gift Set ($52). It contains 12 richly pigmented foiled shadows that shine like tinsel and go on full of pigment in just one swipe.

Each color is as eye-catching as the next, and the high-shine finish makes them ideal for every party you go to this holiday season. You can apply them with an eye shadow brush, but I've found that it's easiest to apply the product with my fingers.

See swatches and photos of the palette (available Nov. 1) ahead.

I Wore Nothing but Huda Beauty's New Concealer to See How Much It Covers

After Huda Beauty's foundation was able to completely cover my hives during an epic allergic reaction last year, I was eager to try the brand's new concealer. The Overachiever High Coverage Concealer ($30) comes in 20 shades and contains 31 percent pigment, meaning it's very opaque. It's also fortified with green tea to erase signs of stress and aging and includes a cooling metal tip. Huda Beauty created the concealer to be multitasking, so you can hide acne, hyperpigmentation, under-eye circles, and redness with just one product.

Even when just running to Starbucks, I normally like to wear a medium- to full-coverage foundation to feel my best. However, I decided to skip foundation altogether to test out this new launch. If the brand could be trusted to cover hives, I was confident the concealer would be enough to cover my zits and under-eye circles. After using a Beautyblender ($20) to dot and blend the product under my eyes, on my chin, around my nose, and anywhere else I encountered discoloration, I was surprisingly happy with the results. While I felt the need to add a little bit of salmon-colored corrector under my eyes to get rid of the blue tone of my under-eye circles, my face looked pretty good.

I would highly suggest you try out the formula, especially if you prefer to go without foundation, because this concealer really will do the complexion-perfecting job well.

I Tried the Water Bottle Hair Curling Hack, and I Won't Say Goodbye to My Curlers

via GIPHY

If you're familiar with the Instagram explore page and know your way around popular beauty accounts, you've probably come across the water bottle hair curling hack that's currently sweeping the internet. It appears the hack started in Asia, then found its way onto popular accounts such as @hotonbeauty. Even @hudabeauty did her own version, saying it curled her hair in less than one minute. So of course, we had to try it out for ourselves. Who doesn't want curled hair in one minute?

The technique

The aim of the hack is to trap the hair inside a water bottle, blowing in hot air and causing the hair to create a whirlpool type effect, creating quick and easy curls. To make the water bottle tool, cut out a hole in the side of the bottle big enough for a hair-dyer nozzle to fit through, then cut off the top of the water bottle, and voila, you're set. To begin the hack, place the hair into the top of the bottle, secure the nozzle inside the hole, and on a low heat and power setting, blast the hair for a few seconds. After releasing the hair, it should create a ringlet curl. Top tip: angling the nozzle upward slightly is key to getting the hair to whiz around the bottle rather than shooting straight out the top.

The outcome

It took me a fair few goes until I got the hang of things, but once I figured out the setting and technique (and called in a little help), it actually did work. However, the resulting curl wasn't particularly great. It definitely gave tight, ringlet-type curls on the very ends, but it knotted my hair a little since I have such long hair and also made it look a little dry (although that's probably just my cue for a trim). In my opinion, if you want an easy wave, you're better off spending the extra few minutes with your curling iron, but if you're looking for a little DIY fun, the hack definitely gives some twist to the hair.
