A Beignet Burger Has Arrived at Walt Disney World, and I'm at a Loss For Words
Because beignets evidently aren't indulgent enough, Walt Disney World just introduced a jaw-dropping sweet-and-savory variation: the beignet cheeseburger. At the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory located in the Port Orleans Resort, visitors can now order the unconventional burger.
At $14, the new menu item consists of a patty sandwiched between two beignet "buns" and topped with American cheese, bacon jam, pickled onions, lettuce, and pickles. To really drive it all home, the beignets are dusted with powdered sugar. The burger also comes with thick-cut steak fries and a small cup of coleslaw. See pictures of the truly over-the-top entree ahead.

If Losing Your Phone and Being Forced to Give Up Social Media Sounds Like a Horror Story, Read This
I didn't quit social media on purpose, though I've read plenty of stories about why taking a break might be a good idea. As a type-A person who is admittedly addicted to checking email and staying in the loop - not only when it comes to my friend circle but also with news related to my job as an editor - I brushed the idea aside. "I'll try deleting Instagram the next time I go on vacation," I lied to myself. The most tuned out I have ever been is on a recent trip to Disney World with my family, where I decided to give up clicking through every single Instagram Story at the top of my feed (like I usually do) mostly just to conserve battery life.
But when I lost my phone in the first East Coast snowstorm of the season, Instagram Stories quickly became a distant memory. There were blizzard-like conditions in Newark, NJ, and I was in an Uber trying to get to my boyfriend's office so we could drive to Atlantic City for the weekend. The hotel room was booked, dinner reservations were secured at one of the hardest Italian restaurants to get into, and I had my outfits picked out. It was a done deal! I had to get to him. When traffic came to a standstill and my Uber driver got us into a jam, he suggested I gather my things and get out and run to Joey, who was just a few blocks away in his own car.
I carefully tucked away my purse into my duffel bag and slipped my phone into my pocket, knowing I'd need it to contact Joey when I got close. As I hopped out of the car, my phone must have fallen in the snow, and I didn't realize it was gone until I heard someone shouting my name from across the street. In that moment, as I was soaking wet from the storm and coming to the realization that I had been sprinting through a dangerous area with no tracking device, all I cared about was getting to Joey. Screw the phone.
Once I was in Joey's truck, we used Find My Friends to track my phone and found that someone had picked it up already. A few unanswered calls confirmed I was not getting it back. Knowing the type of person I am, and the fact that I stared at my screen more than I did him during the first few months of our relationship, Joey was probably shocked at how little I panicked. The weather was so bad, and we felt so overwhelmed and angry at our poor luck, that we tried to turn the car home and skip our mini vacation. But the only way traffic was moving was south, and it would take hours to travel north toward our apartment. We decided to head down the shore and make the best of our long weekend. The anticipation of four days without social media set in with every mile.
What I didn't anticipate was how positive the experience would be; seriously, I ended up enjoying one of the best days of my life. Here are all the things that changed for the better in my case and the one thing I decided about my future relationship with my phone.

Frankie Muniz's Cat Apparently Flooded His Entire Apartment, and Yes, It's THAT Bad

How to Make Sure Your Turkey's Done If You Don't Have a Thermometer
If you don't have a meat thermometer and would rather not buy one just for Thanksgiving, there are a few steps you can take to make sure your turkey is fully cooked and not overcooked. According to the experts behind the Turkey Talk-Line at Butterball, this is exactly what you need to do to ensure a fully cooked yet still moist bird.
1. Find out the cooking time based on the weight of your turkey.
Using the turkey-cooking calculator is the easiest way to find out how long your turkey will need to cook based on its weight. A 20-pound turkey will take three and a half to four hours to cook at 325°F.
2. Don't peek!
Although it's tempting to check on your turkey, opening the oven only lowers the temperature and prolongs the process, potentially screwing up your initial estimated time. Keep the oven closed until you're about two-thirds of the way through to check on it for the first time. If the turkey breasts are getting too browned too quickly, cover the turkey in a tent of foil. If they don't look browned, feel free to skip that step.
3. Keep your eye on the thigh.
The deepest part of the thigh muscle is the very last part of the turkey to be done. The internal temperature should reach 180°F. To check for doneness without a thermometer, pierce the thigh and pay attention to the juices: if the juices run clear, it's cooked, and if the juices are reddish pink, it needs more time. Put the turkey back in the oven and check again after a short time.
Joe Biden Adopted His "Dogg-leganger," a German Shepherd Rescue Named Major
Sorry, Barack Obama, looks like Joe Biden may have a new best friend. The former vice president and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, recently adopted a rescue dog from the Delaware Humane Association, and he's pretty dang cute.
Their German Shepherd, Major, was one of six puppies forced to vacate their home following exposure to something toxic. He was taken in by the Humane Association, and shortly after, his story was shared on social media. After Biden saw Major's story, he quickly reached out. The Bidens fostered him for eight months, and now Major has a forever home with his new family.

Watch What Happens When 39 Women Come Together to Make a Music Video About Sexual Assault
As a director, it's sad how few projects come across my desk having to do with social issues. I just stopped to think about it. Exactly zero have come my way - until the one you're about to watch here. The truth is, most artists won't "go there" and take a stand or get vulnerable, especially when it comes to something as tough as sexual assault. But Aijia has done just that, writing "For You," a song about speaking your truth against all odds.
So many of us are part of that statistic: one in three women will be sexually assaulted in their lives. That's why conceiving this video was so important to me. I knew this could give voice to women in different stages of their process - the ones going through it or the ones standing by someone going through it. It's not my place to divulge the personal stories of the women in this video, and believe me, some of them are intense. Some of the women here are not survivors, but allies standing alongside their sisters in support. Some of the women in this video are survivors who are speaking up for the first time. By participating, they're essentially "outing" themselves to their friends and families once it goes live. That's brave.
Some are angry. Others are afraid. One has her guard up the entire time, another has found peace and grace.
I'm honored they trusted me with this and grateful for my all-women led team, crew, and trauma counselor who created a safe space on this day. My hope is that by coming together to create this video, the many women in front of the camera and behind the scenes send a message: that we're not going anywhere, that we won't be silent, and that we're here for each other - and for every other woman out there who has been impacted by sexual violence in her life. To borrow from the song, we made this video for you.
If you are a survivor of sexual assault and need help and resources, please call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800.656.HOPE. One hundred percent of the download proceeds from "For You" will be donated to the Time's Up Legal Defense Fund.

Disney World Is Infinitely Better Than Disneyland, and Here's Why
When it comes to Disney Parks and Resorts, Walt Disney World has the upper hand over Disneyland. While I might be a little biased, as Walt Disney World is my home park and I've been an annual pass holder for more than 20 years, there really is something special about seeing Walt's vision come to life all over Orlando, Florida. Yes, Disneyland is the original and has a ton of nostalgia - they even have better churro options - but I stand by my opinion that Disney World is the superior US Disney park.
So, do you want to know why Walt Disney World is better than Disneyland? Read through to see.

I Didn't Marry My "Dream Guy," but I Couldn't Be Happier
When I first met my husband, we were just a couple of 14-year-old freshmen in a sophomore-level math class. You would have thought we would have sat together in class like most kids the same age and grade would have done, but to be honest - and this is something I am definitely not proud of - I was a pretty shallow teenage girl back then, and I wanted nothing to do with him.
Throughout high school, my husband was a geek to the core. He was skinny and had braces and acne. He was incredibly intelligent and obsessed with Star Wars. His hair was never styled. I can still remember how his shaggy brown hair covered his eyes and ears. His clothes also lacked style. All I can ever remember him wearing were jeans that were way too tight for him and silly Far Side shirts. He was not my type at all.
I was a pretty shallow teenage girl back then, and I wanted nothing to do with him.
About a month before senior year ended, my husband and I somehow found ourselves in the same group of friends. His appearance and style pretty much looked the same as it did four years ago, but for the first time, I started noticing his personality. The boy was funny - as in super funny. He had a great sense of humor, and he could make me laugh like nobody else ever could. When I was getting ready for school in the morning, I looked forward to seeing him. After school, I found myself smiling just thinking about the way he made me laugh so hard earlier that day.
As we spent more time together during lunch, I learned more about him, and the more I learned, the more I liked about him. He had such a genuinely sweet and kind heart, and I couldn't get enough of him. At the time, it was hard for me to admit that I was falling for him, and I denied it to my friends. But deep down, I knew I had a crush on the boy I wouldn't have given the time of day to four years prior.

He asked me to the school dance, the very last dance of high school for us, and I said yes. We began dating, and the rest is history! We were married seven years later, which is a memorable day that will remain in my heart forever. I'll never forget how handsome he looked in his tuxedo as I walked down the church's aisle toward him - the boy I initially never thought would end up being the man of my dreams.
We recently celebrated our 10-year anniversary. My husband is still a huge geek, and I absolutely love him for it. He even turned me into a bit of a geek as well. I am so glad that I was able to let go of my shallow teenage girl ways in time to come to my senses back in high school and see my husband for who he really is: a funny, smart, sweet, and kind soul who can still make me laugh like no other and make my heart feel completely filled with love.

The silky-smooth fabric truly never wrinkles; it's one of those hassle-free dresses you can pack for traveling. It's also incredibly flattering. It cinches my waist and lays loosely over my hips. There are so many ways to make this piece work for the office, date night, and even weekend errands.
The smocked top and ruffle sleeves are very on-trend right now, so this dress seamlessly works with my existing wardrobe. No joke, I have only owned this dress for a month and I have worn it at least ten times. There are so many ways to make this piece work for the office, date night, and even weekend errands.

The Best Way to Dress Is Like Your 5-Year-Old Self
At the risk of sounding like I'm really feeling myself, I've got to tell you: I'm dressing better than ever. I'm, like, on another plane of my own personal style. And, now that I'm 34, age has been the deciding factor when it comes to my revised approach to dressing. But if you think I'm about to regurgitate that boring conventional wisdom that the older we get, the more we just know what we like and what looks good on us, and our fashion sense just gets sharper . . . I'm not. That's because my new fashion philosophy is this: the absolute best way to dress is like your 5-year-old self.
Think about it. By the time we're in kindergarten, most of our basic and most enduring aesthetic tastes have been hardwired into our very mitochondria. (Pause while I google whether DNA is even present in mitochondria. OK. It is.) For me, this means I will always have a soft spot for shoulder pads, teal, leopard print, and terracotta. I was raised in Southwest Texas in the late 1980s, after all. But beyond that, children take a devil-may-care attitude to - and a fierce pride in - getting dressed. It's at that age that we start to discover our own identity. It's at that age when most of us start dressing ourselves in the morning; if not for school, on the weekends, at least. When we're still too young to do much of anything autonomously, style is an easy and obvious way for kids to express their rudimentary sense of self. And they have fun doing it. Coincidentally, while I was on my second draft of this story, a fellow writer tweeted this truism after hanging out with her niece:
the best dressed people on earth are 5 year old girls who get to pick out their own outfits
- Pixie Casey (@pixie_casey) November 9, 2018
Clearly, this is a widely agreed upon fact. So, if we already collectively admire the way 5-year-old girls dress, why not just take it one step further and emulate it? Over the last few months, I've been doing just that. To put this style ethos into practice yourself, just follow these few simple suggestions - because no 5-year-old or evolved, modern woman enjoys following rules.
I'm Crowning This the Perfect "Sneaker Dress," and I'm Wearing It Nonstop
When it comes to adding pieces to my closet, there's one variable that's routinely at play . . . a question I regularly ask myself before purchasing: can I wear sneakers with this? And not in a lazy sort of way that might indicate that I've completely given up; it's gotta be something I like. Something I might, say, want to take a picture in.
The search certainly extends to dresses, where the sky is the limit when it comes to hemlines. Maxi, midi, knee-length, and mini all work with sneakers (IMO). So when I spotted this POPSUGAR at Kohl's Flounce-Hem Mini Dress ($24, originally $60) that hit just above the knees but still had a whimsical hem with tons of movement, I knew I'd hit sartorial gold. "Can this be worn with sneakers?" got a big fat check mark.
See how I've been wearing this number ahead.
The Curvy Denim Line You've Been Waiting For Is Finally Here - and It's Eco-Friendly
It's been a big year for Reformation. In 2018, the brand launched its first extended sizing collection and an eco-friendly denim line, but the sustainable brand isn't stopping there. In an effort to keep expanding its curvy clothing options, it just released a number of its most popular denim pieces in sizes 14-24.
The best part: the jeans are also sustainable. The line was produced in Los Angeles using TENCEL Lyocell, which is the world's most sustainable virgin fiber that uses one tenth the amount of water used to produce cotton. Whether you're looking for sleek skinnies or stylish bootcut jeans, no doubt you'll fall in love with these comfortable picks. Keep scrolling to shop the collection and find your perfect pair.

Our Eyes Are Fixed on Michelle Obama's Hot Pink Heels, and That's Not Going to Change
Michelle Obama looked every bit the glamorous superstar when she took the stage with Oprah Winfrey in Chicago at The United Center to discuss her memoir, Becoming. Why shouldn't she embrace bold colors and festive sequins for her book tour? Michelle's been gracing the world with chats about the strong topics she covers in her collection of stories, and that calls for some confidence. Of course, Michelle knows exactly how to dress the part.
For her sit down with Oprah, Michelle chose cropped, high-waist trousers, a glitzy, sequinned off-the-shoulder top (perfect for holiday season, we might add) and, if that wasn't enough, custom Stuart Weitzman pumps in the prettiest shade of hot pink. Her custom Sally LaPointe outfit is, without a doubt, our favorite from the former FLOTUS's appearances so far, and we couldn't help but drive our wide-eyed wonder about her heels into a full-on shopping spree. The Sweet Way the Gaines Kids Help With Their 4-Month-Old Brother, Crew
After dropping by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss their new baby, Crew, and some other projects they have in the works - ahem, their very own TV network - Joanna and Chip Gaines gave viewers a look into their lives with their new baby. As parents of five children, it's no secret they have their hands full. But fortunately, they get a lot of assistance from a somewhat unusual place.
"We have a lot of help," Joanna said. And she's not talking about a nanny. The mom of five was referring to her older children - Emmie Kay, 8, Duke, 9, Ella Rose, 12, and Drake, 13 - who love to look after their 4-month-old baby brother.
"[Crew's] the sweetest, sweetest boy. [His siblings] love him," Joanna said. "Our oldest is 13, the youngest before Crew is 8, [so] we have a lot of help . . . All the kids love to hold the baby."

Disney's 2018 Christmas Sock Advent Calendar Has Arrived, and It's SO Cute!
It really is the most wonderful time of the year! After Disney's 12 Days of Socks Advent calendar flew off of shelves last year, our favorite characters have been hard at work to produce a 2018 version, and it's finally here. Spotted at World of Disney in Disneyland's Downtown Disney and Walt Disney World's Disney Springs, the $30 Advent calendar is guaranteed to sell out. While Amazon retailers are selling last year's version, this year's 12 Days of Socks has only been spotted in Disney stores, along with its other exciting holiday merchandise.
Santa, between this Advent calendar and Target's Disney Princess sock-filled calendar, it's safe to say our wish lists are ready for your little helpers. After one Disney fanatic posted a photo of the new calendar on Instagram, fans immediately filled the comments with raging excitement. "I NEED THIS ALL," one person wrote. With another adding, "Oh good grief. I am so in trouble this holiday season." BRB, running to get ours now!
