Hold My Manolos: Sex and the City's Third Movie Would've Killed Off Mr. Big
The rumors of a potential third Sex and the City movie have been swirling for years now, with everything culminating in a harsh back and forth in February between star Kim Cattrall and . . . well, everyone else, basically. Although it's been pretty much confirmed that Sex and the City 3 is dead in the water, journalist James Andrew Miller's Origins podcast - which recently did a multipart feature on the iconic HBO series - discovered a key plot detail about the third film's script that's pretty shocking: Mr. Big was going to be killed off.
Miller's podcast includes interviews with Sarah Jessica Parker, Chris Noth, Kristin Davis, Willie Garson, and other key players in the show's production, with the notable exception of Cattrall. These chats led to the revelation that Mr. Big would've died "relatively early" in the film, because of a sudden "heart attack in the shower," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Miller asserts that one of Cattrall's biggest reasons for not wanting to join the third film is because the majority of the story would follow Parker's Carrie Bradshaw as she navigates losing the love of her life and being a widow, leaving Cattrall's sassy Samantha with little to do. But behind the scenes, there were also rumors that Cattrall would only star in SATC 3 if Warner Bros. would produce other films for her, though she later denied those allegations in a blunt tweet: "The only 'DEMAND' I ever made was that I didn't want to do a 3rd film."
Her desire to move on from the series for good meant she didn't even want to see the third film's script. Parker told Miller this was something she repeatedly tried to rectify.
"I hope that when you read this script, you'll see the beauty, the joy, the heartbreak in it that I see."
"I had many, many, many, many conversations with her manager where I was told, 'She would love to hear from you,'" Parker recalled. "I emailed her, I tried to reach out to her and say, 'We want you part of this. You're an integral part. Of course, you are. I hope that when you read this script, you'll see the beauty, the joy, the heartbreak in it that I see, that we have seen.'"
Parker went on to note that they negotiated compensation "in good faith," but in the end Cattrall wasn't going to be convinced. "I can't force her to see it, but we did negotiate through the process and ultimately the studio said, 'We can't meet those asks of hers,'" Parker said. "So then it's over, but that's not a character assassination, that's just the way business works."
And we thought finding out Kristin Davis almost played Carrie was the biggest shock to ever come out of SATC . . .

Am I the Only One Who Can't Stop Singing "Bring the Snow" From The Princess Switch?!
By now, we sincerely hope you've basked in the glory of Netflix's latest holiday offering, The Princess Switch. Featuring a classic switcheroo story that has a common baker swapping spots with royalty, the slightly cheesy but ever-so-endearing film already has Twitter in a tizzy. It doesn't help that the end credits for the film feature a catchy song you won't be able to get out of your head. Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey's New Thriller Looks Deeply Uncomfortable
Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey have reunited four years after Christopher Nolan's existential Interstellar for another stressful-as-hell movie. In Serenity, a very blond Hathaway asks a rugged McConaughey to murder her abusive husband, played by Chappaquiddick's Jason Clarke, by dropping him smack dab in the ocean, much to the delight of any nearby sharks. Having fun yet? The trailer also features a mysterious man with a briefcase, several ominous shots of blood, and a Lost-like vibe that hints not all on the island is as it seems.
Serenity is scheduled to be released later this year on Jan. 25. Watch the deeply agitating - and still kind of sexy? Just me? - new trailer above, then check out the first footage ahead.
Trailer 1:
Moana, Groundhog Day, and Everything Else Leaving Netflix in December
Netflix is cleaning house in December and making room for a fresh wave of new titles hitting the streaming site during the holiday season. Though we'll finally be able to watch Avengers: Infinity War, we'll have to say goodbye to classics like Spider-Man 3, Teeth, and Moana (superharsh blow for parents). We still have some time left before these titles are gone from our queues forever so cancel your plans, and check out the full list of movies and TV shows ahead!
This Massive Gingerbread Hogwarts Castle Is So Detailed, It Must've Been Made With Magic
If you're looking for a way to get into the Harry Potter holiday spirit this year, I suggest taking a peek at this unbelievable gingerbread Hogwarts Castle from Duchess Bake Shop. The Canadian bakery tapped the talents of Kelsey Johnson and her husband Garner Beggs to create this entirely edible masterpiece. That's right, every single piece can be eaten, including the green mossy grounds. You won't find a treat like this on your everyday trolley.
This gingerbread creation is so impressive, you might assume it'd be kept in a museum so fans could admire it forever. Instead, the bakery is asking visitors to donate a pair of socks to the Bissell Centre before Dec. 31 for a chance to destroy the whole thing. The Bissell Centre is a non-profit that aims to eliminate poverty in the community.
Sure, it'll be heartbreaking to see the castle break back down into candy pieces, but it's for a good cause. And let's not forget that no matter the medium, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home. Ahead, see videos and photos of the magical castle-making process - no wands necessary.

The Christmas Contract: The One Tree Hill Cast Reunites in Lifetime's New Holiday Rom-Com
It looks like Santa got our letter, because the cast of One Tree Hill is finally reuniting! Just two months after Lifetime officially announced that Hilarie Burton, Robert Buckley, Danneel Ackles, and Antwon Tanner would all be starring in The Christmas Contract, the network released the first trailer on Tuesday. Burton plays a woman named Jolie, who travels back home to Louisiana for Christmas after breaking up with her boyfriend Foster (Hunter Burke), who also happens to be from Louisiana. After finding out that Foster is bringing home a new girlfriend, Jolie enlists the help of her best friend Naomi (Danneel Ackles), who suggests that she turn to Jolie's brother Clay (Buckley) for support. Problem solved, right? Well, turns out, the Christmas contract proves to be a lot more than Jolie and Clay signed up for.
If you're a fan of holiday rom-coms, The Christmas Contract should be right up your alley. Watch the trailer above before it airs on Lifetime on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. as part of the network's holiday movie schedule!
Avengers: Infinity War, Dumplin', and 90 Other Titles Hitting Netflix in December
Netflix is pulling out all the stops for December. Although the streaming giant is getting rid of some of our favorite movies, it's also adding a ton of fresh titles that we can't wait to watch. On top of Netflix originals like a Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holiday special and the premiere of the ridiculously creepy thriller Bird Box, there are also exciting movies like 8 Mile, Avengers: Infinity War, and more. Nashville's Lennon Stella on Growing Up and Her "Graceful Evolution" Into a Solo Career
Image Source: Getty / Joe Maher
If you've watched Nashville, then you probably already know Lennon Stella's name. The 19-year-old singer and her real-life sister, Maisy, played Maddie and Daphne Conrad on the hit show and eventually rose to stardom with their addicting music covers. Now that the series has officially ended, Stella is forging her own way as a solo artist with a fresh new sound. In addition to releasing a few catchy singles, she recently teamed up with One Direction's Liam Payne and Jonas Blue for the song "Polaroid." And that's just the beginning.
Not only does she have a few concerts lined up (which are already sold out, by the way), but she also has a brand-new EP called Love, Me out on Nov. 16. I recently had a chance to sit down with the rising star at the Hyatt Centric Times Square for its first Sofar Sounds concert event, where she discussed all the exciting things she has in store and how being on Nashville helped spark her career as a solo artist.

POPSUGAR: It's been a crazy year with Nashville ending and you pursuing a solo career. After being on the show for so many seasons and growing up in the spotlight, did you feel like you needed to reintroduce yourself to fans in a way?
Lennon Stella: Yeah, in a way, for sure. Because the music I was making on the show is so different than the music I'm making now. And the music from the show was a character. It wasn't me, so definitely. I tried to gracefully bring everyone along and have them continue being fans of my new solo stuff. But, yeah, it was definitely something I took into consideration because it is - I didn't want to have it be this shocking change. But that was always me, and I feel like I didn't ever really want it to be much of a transition anyway, just kind of more like a graceful evolution.
PS: How would you say that being on Nashville shaped your career as a solo artist?
LS: I think being on the show really allowed me to just experiment and really create and just discover what music I wanted to make. And I think that the show - it was the biggest reason why I was able to do that because I was on the show for so long and I was able to just figure out what I don't like and what I do like. I don't think I would've done that if I wasn't on a TV show because I would've gotten so antsy.
PS: Who would you say are some of your biggest influences?
LS: Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac is my all-time favorite. Lyrically, Andy Shauf. I love his lyrics. I love The Japanese House, Julie Bella, Bazzi. Yeah, that kind of vibe when it's more the sound of the overall thing. But I think as far as songwriting, I really like Bob Dylan.
PS: You've had a few new singles out lately, but I know you're also releasing an EP. How would you describe your new music?
LS: I guess it's kind of like pop, but they have a heaviness to them for sure. I think lyrically they have just a bit of weight. Like a bit of sadness to them. There's two new songs that'll come when the EP comes, and they're a little more upbeat, but they all have a weight to them. Every song, even if it's a fun dance-y song, there's a sadness to it, which I'm just drawn to.
PS: You're very open with your fans, and I feel like you're great at interacting with them on social media. What has that been like to kind of see their positive response to your new music?
LS: I honestly sit and read my DMs nonstop. Comments and DMs are obviously so nice, but having it be specifically about something that I've been working on for so long and having it resonate with them like it does with me is just so crazy and so cool to me. Like "Breakaway," for instance. Those ones specifically are just really a hard time that I was going through, and I wrote them for myself really. And I put it out, and I didn't expect people to relate as much as they did. So many people have said that "it's like you just took the words out my mouth," and I'm just like, that's so crazy because it's like we all feel the same things. It's really cool having them out in the world, and just the overall reaction has been awesome.
PS: I feel like a lot of your comments are always like, "I feel like we're best friends."
LS: Yeah. Which is the coolest thing. Every single person that DMs me feels like we're friends, which is so cool and I will forever keep that. I mean, I hope that stays that way forever. If feels like we're all just swimming together, and I think it's a cool thing and it feels rare. With social media, it's just hard to keep that where it feels super connected, so it's really important to me for sure.
PS: Do you have any big career goals you really want to achieve in the next year?
LS: Definitely in this next year an album and get that really locked in. As of now, there's so many songs that we just kind of have that I've just been writing for so long and so many that I love. But I think just kind of writing more and getting it all out of my system and then just focusing and narrowing it down to an album's worth of stuff and packaging it all together. That's the next thing in my brain is an album and then touring the album.
Ezra Miller Breaks His Silence on THAT Fantastic Beasts Reveal: "I Was Shocked"
Love it or hate it, there's one thing you can't deny about Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It has people talking. Avid fans of J.K. Rowling's ever-expanding wizarding world are up in arms about the second installment in the five-movie series. There are all kinds of issues with the presence of Minerva McGonagall, there's an utter void when it comes to Albus Dumbledore's sexuality, and that's really just the tip of the iceberg. But there's one reveal (the film's biggest twist) that really has us all scratching our heads: according to Grindelwald, Credence Barebone is actually a Dumbledore.
Forget the fact that Albus only has one confirmed brother and one ill-fated sister in the Harry Potter books; anything can happen in a world that's been imbued with magic and mysticism! Of course, everyone's going wild trying to figure out what in the hell is going on. Luckily for us, a new Ezra Miller interview is giving a bit more insight into the reveal.
"I was shocked, stunned, confused, 'petrificus totalus' with wonder and fascination," he said, referring to the moment he first learned about his true identity. "I still have a lot of questions for which I have no answers." Here's something interesting, though: Miller seems inclined to believe that Credence - er, Aurelius - really is a Dumbledore, and that it's not some kind of lying or falsified information. "[J.K. Rowling] knows the mythology so well and I think she's into confounding you for a moment and having a fan go, 'Wait that can't make sense!' and then showing you how things you thought couldn't make sense make sense. I think she enjoys people not getting it for a second. She's done it to us a bunch of times."
So, basically, from the sound of it, this is real, this is happening, and this is something that will presumably be explained in a later film. As a matter of fact, it may be the third film, still untitled, that gives us our answer. Miller did a bit of his own surmising along these lines: "If the question of the first film was what, and the question of this film was who, my prediction, if I'm making any, is that Aurelius's question in the next film will be: why."
He's of course referring to his own character's big questions: in the first film, Credence knows there's something special about him, but he doesn't know what he is. This time, he's obsessed with finding out who he is. So, in the third film, it could be why: why his parents abandoned him, why his identity was taken away.
That still leaves one burning question. Well, actually, it still leaves quite a few burning questions, but he did address this one in the interview: does Dumbledore know about his supposed long-lost brother? "We truly do not know," Miller lamented, but then said, "Jude knows. But he won't tell you." Ugh! It's going to be a long wait until the third movie arrives.
21 Ghost Story Books That Will Chill You to the Bone
Halloween is far from the only time of year when you can enjoy a good ghost story. Books featuring spirits - just one of the prompts in our 2019 Reading Challenge - can be enjoyed at any time, because the theme of connecting with the great beyond is one that never fails to resonate. The best ghost stories do more than send a shiver down your spine, they also have something to say about the human condition. The ghosts can represent things from our hero's past that they can't escape, they can manifest as our worst nightmares, or they simply teach us lessons that only those who have moved beyond this world could impart. The sheer array of books featuring ghosts on this list proves that a compelling ghost story doesn't have to follow any one set of rules; in fact, they're at their best when they're breaking every one of the genre's time-honored traditions.

Jason Derulo Joins the Cats Adaptation as Rum Tum Tugger - See Who Else Is in the Cast!
One of the most successful musicals in Broadway and West End history is finally making an official go for the silver screen. After years of back-and-forth, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats is going from stage musical to feature film. The film began development in May 2016 when it was announced that The King's Speech director Tom Hooper would be at the helm of the Universal Pictures and Working Title Films adaptation.
Billy Elliot screenwriter Lee Hall penned the Cats film screenplay, which will follow the same story as the musical, which was based on a book of children's poems by T.S. Eliot. The story focuses on a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as "the Jellicle choice," deciding which cat will ascend to the "Heaviside Layer" and come back to a new life. The musical features some of the most well-known show tunes, including the song "Memory" sung by Grizabella.
While there haven't been many details released about what the film adaptation will look like, the cast announcement has us excited! It includes an Oscar winner, a Wielder of the Flame of Anor, a professional karaoke singer, and a proud member of the cat-lady gang. Sounds exciting, doesn't it? Keep reading to see who's been cast to bring the beloved cats of the Broadway musical to the big screen.
Mandy Moore Matched Her Makeup to Her Pink Wedding Dress, and It Was So Dreamy
Mandy Moore followed an old-school beauty rule for her intimate wedding to Taylor Goldsmith on Nov. 18: she matched her bridal makeup to her pink Rodarte wedding dress, and it just worked.
Done by makeup artist and friend Jenn Streicher, Moore's makeup was soft and ethereal with glittery pink eye shadow, feathery eyebrows, and bronzed cheeks. For her hair, Ashley Streicher adorned Moore's glamorous waves with delicate clusters of baby's breath.
In an interview with POPSUGAR prior to her wedding, Moore said she didn't want to feel too "fussy or done-up" on the day of. "I just want to feel like the best version of myself," she said. "I've heard that brides regret their hair or makeup; that they sort of forced themselves into this idea of what they thought they should look like at their wedding. It wasn't true to who they really are. I don't want to fall into that trap."
Instead, Moore said she wanted to look "easy and breezy." She added, "Not too much makeup. I don't think I'll wear my hair up. I want to feel like myself and look back and go, 'Oh, my gosh, yeah. That was a special day, and I look like me still.'" Based on the pictures we've seen so far, we think it's safe to say she achieved that goal.

Here's How to Remove Your Makeup Without Damaging Your Precious Eyelashes
This age of beauty has led to some serious enhancements for eyelashes, from lash extensions, to lash lifts, lash tints to serums that make them thicker, and everything in between. Even wearing false eyelashes has become more widely accepted than it was before. We're more than willing to put time, effort, and money into making our eyelashes look as long and full as our hearts desire. And while we make sure we're taking care of our lashes when we enhance them with procedures and treatments, we often don't think about aftercare when we're doing one of the more basic activities: removing our makeup.
There isn't much evidence to suggest that makeup removal has any effect at all on your eyelashes, but skincare experts agree that there is, in fact, a correct way to remove your makeup to minimize any damage that may be caused to your lashes. The method of removal is important, as are the ingredients in the removers that you choose to use. The general consensus is to treat your lashes very delicately, the same way you do when you're cleansing your face: everything you use around your lashes should be gentle, and you'll be good to go.
If you've been struggling with lash breakage, or just want to know the best way to remove your makeup in order to prevent future damage, check out what the experts had to say ahead.

What's The Deal With Lip Plumpers? We Consulted the Experts
Of all the lip products that exist, lip-plumping glosses are probably the most misunderstood. The majority of consumers probably don't know how - or if - they actually work. When I was younger, I believed that lip plumpers were just meant for people who wanted extra glossy lips, or people who had a weird affinity for tingly feelings. (And my thought then turned to, "If you just want your lips to be supershiny, why not go for a Lip Smackers gloss? At least it tastes good.") I remember trying on my older sister's lip-plumper gloss when I was a pubescent teen thinking that it would make my lips huge, but I thought it just felt like someone was pinching my lips.
I decided to consult a few skincare experts to get their take on the matter. From what I can tell, everyone agrees that they do work, but they don't agree as to whether or not people should actually use them. I picked their brains to see if lip plumpers are worth the coin, if they have the same effect as lip fillers, and if they're potentially harmful. Here's what they had to say.
Can Sheet Masks Really Help Our Skin? Dermatologists Weigh In
Sheet masks are great for Instagram content (hello, holographic and Hello Kitty options). Ditto for keeping seatmates from talking to us when we're wearing them on the plane. But social assets aside, are they really doing all that much for our skin? While makeup artists seem to swear by them to hydrate and plump celebrities before red carpet appearances, others in the beauty industry aren't convinced they do anything more for our complexions than a well-made serum might. To make matters even more confusing, some options ring in at just a few bucks each, while others climb toward C-note range. Can they really be all that different? And how much do we need to spend to get a good one?
With enough questions to fill the beauty section of our refrigerator, we reached out to a couple of seasoned derms to find out how these bad boys work, and what to look for when finding the best options for your skin type. Their hot takes, ahead.
Say "Thank U, Next" to All Your Haters With This Ariana-Inspired Nail Art
"Thank U, Next" isn't just a song - it's a mood. In the few short weeks since Ariana Grande released her new single, the lyric has already solidified itself as many peoples' go-to clapback to any negativity that comes along. And thanks to some talented nail artists, waving goodbye to your haters has taken on new meaning. Enter: nail designs inspired by the song.
Some users on social media are getting crafty and integrating the catchy phrase onto their manicures, and according to some impressive observations by a few of Ariana's fans on Twitter, the singer may have started the trend all on her own. Shortly after "Thank U, Next" began dominating the charts, Ariana posted a short clip of herself listening to the track on her Instagram stories. The video may not have appeared to show much of anything at first glance, but upon closer inspection you can make out the letter "U" drawn on her pink polished thumb, in between two red lip prints - similar to the single's scrapbook-style cover art.
The singer hasn't shown us a close-up of her nails since then, but it's safe to assume this is a trend Ariana herself is on board with. Keep reading to see more photos of this Thank U, Next nail trend.

January Jones's Christmas Selfie Has Taken the Internet by Surprise
On Monday, January Jones debuted ombré, watermelon sorbet hair, and we - along with the rest of the internet - can't get over it.
The actress took to Instagram to debut the new look, captioning her post, "Doin it 🎄🤶🏻." We're not sure if she was referring to getting into the Christmas spirit, as the photo shows her sipping out of a Santa Claus mug, or her bright new dye job. But, regardless, we agree.
This isn't the first time Jones has had pink hair. In 2012, she debuted streaks of cotton candy highlights throughout her short cut. The look was cool, but this 2018 iteration is far more vibrant and festive.

Beauty enthusiasts take product reviews seriously, and it seems they keep getting more and more candid. Products are truly put being through the ringer, with some people even recounting how they held up during some sort of vehicle accident. Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner survived both bike and car accidents, while NYX Setting Spray left one woman's makeup in place after a collision.
Now, in yet another review, Chloe Olivia recalled being hit by a car and not only living to tell the tale, but doing so without an eyebrow smudge in sight, all thanks to Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz ($21). She wrote, "I was hit by a car while out on a run. I walked away with multiple broken bones, a broken nose, blood everywhere, annnd perfect eyebrows. if you are considering getting this product, BUY IT."
While we'd never want anyone to end up in the hospital, it's reassuring to know that Brow Wiz can live up to the most extreme circumstances. We wish the reviewer a full recovery, and if you haven't already, on this review alone, consider trying this one out.

The CDC Warns Romaine Lettuce Is Unsafe to Eat Again, Reports Another E. Coli Outbreak
The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued yet another advisory against the consumption of romaine lettuce in the US and Canada. On Tuesday, the CDC announced there's been another E. coli outbreak across multiple states, and that people should not eat romaine, and restaurants and retailers should not serve it. "This advice includes all types or uses of romaine lettuce, such as whole heads of romaine, hearts of romaine, and bags and boxes of precut lettuce and salad mixes that contain romaine, including baby romaine, spring mix, and Caesar salad," the advisory reads.
At press time, there had been 32 reported cases of E. coli and 13 hospitalizations across 11 states, with illnesses starting from Oct. 8 through Oct. 31. The Public Health Agency of Canada has also identified 18 people infected with the same strain of E. coli. There are no reported deaths. The warning is clear: no matter where you got your romaine, you should throw it out.
You may remember a romaine lettuce recall from April due to an E. coli outbreak that left more than 50 people sick. The current outbreak is unrelated, but clearly romaine is particularly susceptible to this kind of bacteria, and it's unsafe to eat again. Read the CDC's full report here.
I Spent $200 on a Weighted Blanket, and It's Changed My Entire F*cking Life
Editor's note: The author wrote this while curled up under a weighted blanket.
My Friday nights are typically saved for drinking wine, catching up on my DVR, and surfing the internet. (Do people still say "surfing the internet?") Late last year, during one of these weekly rabbit-hole sessions, I stumbled upon a Kickstarter for a weighted "gravity blanket" that promised to ease stress, anxiety, and insomnia.
As someone who cherishes sleep to a borderline-disturbing level, I was intrigued. Anything that promises to help me keep calm and sleep on will always get my attention, but something about this seemed different (probably because I'd had a few glasses of wine). After checking out the Kickstarter video, I entered my billing information and slammed the order button. After some months, I was the proud owner of a weighted blanket. I've been using it nearly every day since, and it's pretty much changed my life.
The Gravity Blanket ($249, originally $279) comes in a cozy dark gray shade and is the perfect size to cover one person (i.e., me) on a bed or couch. The blanket you choose should be roughly 10 percent of your bodyweight (for example, I bought a 15-pound one), but you can go with something lighter or heavier if you want.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you that $249 is nothing, because it's not. Even though I paid considerably less because I got the Kickstarter price, the Gravity Blanket is still one of the more expensive things in my home. But when I get to my apartment, take my bra off, fall onto the couch, and throw my blanket over me, it feels like a much-needed hug at the end of a long and trying day. Here's why you should snap one up for yourself and thank me later.

Jess Went From Size 16 to Size 2 Doing This 1 Thing Before Every Meal (It's Not Drinking Water)
Jess Dukes (@mrsdukesfitspo on Instagram) wasn't overweight growing up, but she told POPSUGAR that once she graduated from college, her lifestyle changed. "I convinced myself that my jeans were shrinking in the dryer and before I knew it, I had gained about 75 pounds in less than two years," Jess said. Find out how she turned her life around and what changes she made to lose the weight and completely transform her body (and her life!).

The 1 Mindfulness Trick That Helps Me Control My Anxiety in Just a Few Minutes
I have been living with anxiety ever since I very suddenly lost a baby late in pregnancy a few years ago. I am doing better now than when it first happened, but I still suffer from bouts of extreme anxiety, and I don't always know what is going to trigger them.
The best way I can describe what an anxiety attack feels like for me is abruptly experiencing the sensation that my feet are no longer planted firmly on the ground and instead I'm floating away and my body has gone numb. It can be hard to breath. I often feel as if I can't focus on what is happening around me. If another person is talking to me, their words become background noise. I become disoriented, overpowered by this one idea: "This is not my life."
Living with anxiety has been extremely challenging, and I definitely don't have it all figured out. It's also not always possible to pull myself out of my fog right away, but I have developed a trick that helps me regain control of my feelings in most situations. It's all about checking in with each of my senses and doing my best to feel present.
I focus on feeling my feet on the ground. Sometimes I'll even stomp to convince myself I am supported by the sidewalk, the floor, the grass, or whatever surface I happen to be standing on.
The first thing I do is try to stop that feeling that I'm floating and instead focus on feeling my feet firm on the ground. Sometimes I'll even stomp to convince myself I am supported by the sidewalk, the floor, the grass, or whatever surface I happen to be standing on. Paying attention to all of my senses helps. I'll force myself to hear, see, smell, and feel whatever is around me. I make a conscious effort to feel the breeze on my skin. I smell flowers. I hear traffic going by or my dog barking. I notice the heat of the sun on my neck, the birds chirping, that there's music playing in a store. Perhaps my hand is in contact with someone else's, like my daughter's and I squeeze her hand. Maybe I can lean up against a wall or touch a tree trunk. If nothing else, I'll tighten my abdominal muscles to regain the sensation of being in my own body.
Next, I key into my breath. I listen to it go in and then out - in and out, slowly, in and out; one breath at a time. The goal of keying into my body and breath is to draw myself back into the present moment instead of letting my thoughts spin out of control. Usually, after this exercise, I am able to calm down at least enough to think more clearly and make a decision about what to do next.
I practice this mindfulness technique many times each day. If I had an upsetting thought on the way to school drop-off or one of my children asked me a tough question about our loss or if I saw something that triggered a difficult memory. Calling on my little trick is practically involuntary at this point, and I'm glad I have a technique that eases the anxiety and prevents it from freezing me on the spot. I hope trying it out can help you or someone you know who suffers from anxiety.
A Weight-Loss Expert Explains Why Exercise Alone Won't Result in Significant Weight Loss
If you're trying to lose weight, you may be wondering what style of training you should be doing to reach your goal. Studies have shown that cardio, HIIT, and strength training can aid in weight loss, but to find out if one is more effective than the others, POPSUGAR spoke to obesity medicine physician and scientist Fatima Cody Stanford, MD, MPH, MPA.
"One of the largest fallacies when we look at weight management is that physical activity leads to significant weight loss," Dr. Stanford told POPSUGAR. "On average, most people that engage in exercise - especially if they're already regularly exercising - will have weight maintenance," she explained.
If you're just beginning to start a workout regimen, Dr. Stanford said your body "may respond differently to different types of programs." As frustrating as it may be to hear, there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to losing weight. You may notice a change in your physique from HIIT, while others may benefit more from cardio or strength training.
Finding the style of training that works best for you is like finding a partner; it'll take a lot of trial and error to figure out what works best. "What I tell my patients is that we need to find their 'soulmate workout,'" Dr. Stanford said. If the thought of medicine ball slams and burpees make you cringe, a CrossFit workout may not be right for you. Instead, Dr. Stanford said the key is to find something you want to do consistently in order to achieve weight maintenance and mild weight loss.
To address weight loss, Dr. Stanford said it's important to focus on diet quality, sleep quality and duration, circadian rhythm alignment (waking during daylight and sleeping in the evening), and evaluating medications that may promote weight gain.

Thinking About Trying BBG? This Astounding Transformation Will Convince You
Leah posted these amazing transformation photos to celebrate her "#kaylaversary." A year ago, she committed to the BBG program, and she wrote, "I also made a promise to myself to eat healthier, exercise regularly, workout hard, and never give up on myself."
Her journey began in 2013, and for a long time she was just focused on "being skinny." She was so sad and uncomfortable with herself and said, "it took me a long time, and a lot of starting, giving up and restarting, to lose weight and reach goals I never thought were achievable for me."

Leah said, "since I started BBG last year, I've really focused on being more in tune with my body, forming a routine with exercise and eating healthier - mostly 80/20. I've seen my body changing, and my goals and my mindset have changed over time, too." She went from wanting to be thin, to wanting to be strong, "and now I just want to be happy and feel good."
It may feel impossible to change your life, but every little step toward your goal counts. Leah's advice is to "set small goals and celebrate them!" She admitted, "It took me almost 3 years and a lot of failing and giving up on myself to be able to make the decision to change my lifestyle."

Leah also said, "The most important lesson I've learned, and one that has had the biggest impact on me, is to stop weighing myself!" When she began her journey, she said, "I obsessed over the scale for as long as I can remember," and she weighed herself all the time. She went on, "I was always focused on that number. It was unhealthy and would often make me unhappy as I wasn't where I thought I 'should be', so I stopped weighing myself completely." Leah said she's not sure what she weighs exactly now, "but what I can tell you is that I feel healthy, and I'm happy and that's worth a heck of a lot more than a number for me." She finally feels "content in my own skin."
So take it from Leah. If you've been struggling to lose weight for years, focus on eating healthy (aim for 80/20) and exercising to get strong (why not try BBG?) - and stop weighing yourself and obsessing so much about the numbers! And most importantly, Leah said, "don't give up on yourself, remember how far you've come and be proud of yourself!"

Bob Harper Reveals the Biggest Thing That Will Sabotage Your Weight-Loss Progress
Bob Harper hasn't just helped hundreds of people lose weight as a trainer and host on The Biggest Loser; the 53-year-old lost 40 pounds himself after suffering a near-fatal heart attack in 2017. So when Bob offers up weight-loss advice, we listen.
In an Instagram video as part of a series he calls #TwoCupsIn, Bob revealed what he believes to be the biggest saboteur for weight loss. "If you are trying to lose weight, nighttime snacking is going to be the worst thing that you can do," he said in the video. "Everybody has been asking me about nighttime snacking, and I'm just going to have to tell you, this is where self-discipline has to come into your life."

Instead of opening up your pantry or fridge for the millionth time at night, Bob suggests distracting yourself out of the kitchen: drink water, read, meditate, or go to bed early. And while some people may think a small snack is harmless, he wants people to learn the self-control of not mindlessly munching out of boredom after dinner.
"Really focus on those goals and go, 'I know I'm going to get up tomorrow and I'm going to feel so much better,'" he said. "Try it; I know you've got it in you."
