F45 First-Timers, This Is What an Instructor Says You Should Wear and Bring

F45 training is the Aussie-born circuit workout sweeping the fitness industry with multiple franchises in more than 36 countries. The conception of this workout is quite simple. The F stands for functional and 45 is the complete duration of each session in minutes. This innovative interval technique combines ever-changing workouts ranging from rowing and kettlebells to battle ropes and stationary bikes for a serious sweat.

Even as a seasoned athlete (I box and circuit train), I was a bit intimidated when I signed up for my first F45 class. Luckily for me, there is a studio a short distance away from where I live, so I popped in a day before my class to ask a few questions. I spoke with Chris Teakle, director and owner of F45 Williamsburg to get expert advice on how to properly prep prior to training, and most importantly what gear to bring and wear to the make the best out of the class.

What to Wear:

  • Long pants and a tight top: "First and foremost, you should be comfortable, but it's also important to choose functional clothes that give you the right support," Teakle says. "Most of our members would wear similar clothing to what you'd wear to a yoga class: full-length leggings, a crop top or a tightish sleeveless top, as you do tend to get sweaty". In my experience, workout leggings are better than shorts, because they offer more freedom in movement and full coverage with extra security for floor exercises. Every second counts in interval training, so there's no time for readjusting your shorts when you have a nanosecond to get to the rowing machine.
  • Athletic shoes: Opt for cross-training shoes that support both cardio and strength-training exercises to aid in full support. This will guarantee safety, comfort and minimize injury.

Other Tips For Your First Class:

  • Bring a water bottle: Being dehydrated during your workout is not ideal and can make you feel pretty crappy during class. You feel dizzy, crampy, nauseous and completely out of touch with your body, which essentially ruins your workout and can pose a risk to your health. Be sure to drink a good amount of fluids prior to class to promote mental clarity and optimal strength. For convenience, F45 has a water station to refill bottles as needed.
  • Get there early: No one wants to feel stressed or rushed. This applies to all, but especially for first-timers who are new to this group class. Get there a few minutes early and introduce yourself to the instructor, go over any injuries or woes you might have prior to class.
  • Come ready to work: F45 is no joke. The class uses a wide variety of exercises that challenge you beyond what you could imagine - all safely.

Strengthen Your Arms, Legs, and Abs at Once With This Low-Impact Cardio Workout

I love lifting weights and sprinting, but with all the stress I put on my body, it's important I incorporate low-impact workouts into my routine. There's nothing wrong with cardio machines like the elliptical and bike, but honestly, I find them extremely boring.

A few months ago, I began using the SkiErg on the days when I need to give my joints a break, and I love it. As the name implies, the SkiErg simulates the motion of skiing, sans the cold temperatures and all the gear.

"The SkiErg is a low-impact form of cardiovascular exercise that works your arms, core, and legs," Felix Ferreira, NASM-certified trainer at Equinox in New York City, told POPSUGAR. It won't hurt your joints, but it will definitely kick your ass - in a good way, of course.

How to Use the SkiErg

  • Before getting started, adjust the resistance of the machine. Anywhere between two and four is a good starting point for beginners. If this feels too easy, feel free to increase the resistance.
  • Begin facing the machine with your feet hip-width apart. Reach your arms up and grab the handles (one should be in each hand).
  • With power, pull the handles down as you simultaneously bend at your knees and hips. You should look like you're cross-country skiing. Be sure to keep your core engaged and your back flat.
  • Keep your arms in tight as you pull the cables down. At the bottom of the pull, fully extend your arms back behind you, similar to a triceps kickback.
  • Reverse this movement and simultaneously reach your arms up as you lift up on the balls of your feet. Your arms and hips should be fully extended. Quickly pull back down and continue to repeat this motion.
  • Start with a medium pace to become comfortable with the movement. Once you've got it down, begin to increase your speed.

Beginner Ski-Erg Workout

Before getting started, be sure to activate your abdominal muscles and warm up your body with exercises like plank walkouts.

For the workout, complete 100 meters of skiing (the amount of time will vary person to person) and then take 30 seconds of rest. Repeat this for a total of 10 rounds. Don't forget to cool down once you've finished the workout!

I Got an IUD and I’m Never Going Back - This Is Why

In my mid-twenties and nowhere closer to having a baby, I was still on the same birth control I've been on since high school. I realized there had to be better options out there than the current birth control pill I was on, and decided it was time to make a change. After research and consulting with my doctor I decided to get an IUD. I was lucky and didn't have any significant health problems with the pill, but after 10 years, I was ready to not have to remember to take a pill every single day.

I'm not going to lie, the IUD insertion was a little uncomfortable, but it was worth it. I experienced some pretty serious cramping for a few hours after the application, but other than that my experience with my new birth control has been amazing. While I know everyone has a different experience with IUDs, I only saw improvements to my health and life. Here is why I'm never going back.

I Tried Recess, the CBD-Infused Sparkling Water; Here's Everything You Need to Know

Ever since I started working at POPSUGAR, I've been inundated with all things CBD: oils, tinctures, creams, gummies, candy, tea, skincare . . . the list goes on. While I have found success adding it to my daily routine to help fight anxiety and make me calmer, I find most of the products are more hype than effective.

So when I heard about Recess, a flavored sparkling water made with hemp extract (where CBD comes from, since it's derived from the hemp plant), I knew I wanted to try it. Recess also contains adaptogens, including schisandra, ginseng, and L-theanine. After all, what could be better than combining my love of sparkling water and all things CBD?

Recess sent me a sampler back featuring the three flavors: Blackberry Chai, Peach Ginger, and Pom Hibiscus. Of all of them, Blackberry Chai was my favorite. It sounds like an odd flavor pairing, but the chai is the dominant flavor and it works well with a touch of fruity sweetness. The Peach Ginger was overwhelmingly peach with not much ginger, and the Pom Hibiscus wasn't for me (I'm not a huge fan of pomegranate, in general). Unlike LaCroix, which has a famously subtle fruit flavor, the flavors in Recess are much more bold; the water itself has color because it contains actual fruit juice. It reminds me more of Spindrift sparkling water, which is also made with fruit juice instead of "natural flavors."

Did I Feel Anything?

OK it tastes fine, but what about the effects? Since I regularly take CBD oil and tinctures (about 20-40 milligrams a day, depending on how anxious I'm feeling), I didn't expect the approximately 10 milligrams of CBD in Recess to do much. The ginseng also promised focus, the L-theanine supposedly helps reduce stress, and Recess claimed the schisandra "boosts immunity and promotes balance." I'm not sure about all that, but I did feel a little calmer after drinking a can. I was also able to crank out more posts at work than normal, which could have been the coffee I had earlier or my newfound focus from a magical sparkling water.

The Verdict

Like most CBD products, Recess doesn't come cheap: a six-pack sells for $30, so $5 a can. Unlike LaCroix, each serving contains sugar (six grams) and calories (25). But if you're looking for a better-for-you alternative to replace your afternoon coffee and you already shell out $5 for a fancy latte, Recess could be your go-to beverage. In the meantime, I'll stick to my tinctures and teas.

With turkey roasting in the oven, latkes sizzling in a skillet, and no shortage of holiday cookies, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas may seem like they're all about food. I'm a Nervous Flyer, and Only This 1 Thing Has Ever Helped Me Relax on a Plane

I don't come off as a nervous flyer. When it comes to air travel, the days leading up to departure fill me with excitement and delight. Getting the window seat is a must when booking, because I'm constantly in awe of the views from above the clouds. Even more so, I'm thrilled by plans to visit new and beautiful places. But, without a doubt, these feelings of exhilaration are always met with repeated bouts of nerves as it's time to board the plane.

I'm aware of the statistics. Plane crashes occur far less frequently than car crashes, and you're more likely to meet your end by being struck by lightning. But I still can't shake preflight jitters and the internal panic that comes with flying.

I've seen one too many airplane films go south, which has left me with a constant uneasiness towards flying. Couple that with the feeling of being off the ground - not to mention turbulence - and it adds up to nervous shakes and in-flight rituals. I reach for my boyfriend's hand at each and every lift-off and touchdown, and letting go is not permitted until we've been in the air (or on the ground) for several minutes. I've adapted subtle breathing techniques I do after boarding in an attempt to clear my mind. I say the same simple prayer, asking for safety over everyone, before takeoff. It's a whole thing.

I've tried out various other calming methods that seem to work for others, from tailored playlists to CBD oil. While these have momentarily distracted me from my stress, nothing came close to diminishing my nerves or calming my flying anxieties, until I starting using a weighted blanket.

Related: 24 Helpful Travel Hacks to Make Flying Stress-Free

I didn't originally purchase a weighted blanket specifically for flights. I get cold and restless most nights (thanks, anemia!) and, after researching their known benefits when it comes to improving sleep, bought one to help me fall asleep at home and during the occasional hotel stay. Imagine my relief when I brought it on a six-hour flight from New York to San Diego and found myself drifting off to sleep under it - something I hadn't ever done before while flying, thanks to nerves.

The Magic Blanket ($179) has given a whole new meaning to "comforter." At 36 inches wide and 60 inches long, my weighted blanket serves as my personal item (albeit a heavy one at 10 pounds - a travel version might be easier for you to carry), and, when folded, fit the airline requirements to fit under the seat in front of me. As soon as we took off, I wrapped myself in it.

It was reminiscent of being held in a large embrace, in which I could feel my anxiety melting away. My stiff breaths slowed considerably. My muscles, previously rigid and tense, loosened up.

At first, I thought my weighted blanket to be effective because it made me feel as though I was at home in my bed, wrapped in my usual blanket. But it was really the beads inside of the blanket, which are responsible for providing the pressure or weight that gives you that safe feeling, that allowed the blanket to successfully mold against my body and fill every gap of the plane seat without creating uncomfortable restriction (which would have made my nerves in the cabin even worse). On top of that, the beads created a soothing stroke-like sensation when I moved. It really made the small amount of space I had in the plane feel noticeably more comfortable, like I had been tucked in. It was reminiscent of being held in a large embrace, in which I could feel my anxiety melting away. My stiff breaths slowed considerably. My muscles, previously rigid and tense, loosened up. Most notably, though, my thoughts stopped racing and the familiar drumming of my heart faded. I eased into a relaxation mode I hadn't known before while flying.

My experience isn't a one-off case, either. The relaxing effects of weighted blankets are backed by research. Deep touch pressure, or DTP, is all about placing gentle, distributed pressure on your body - think weighted blankets, weighted lap pads, massages, stuffed animals, and, to my delight, hugs - to regulate the secretion of cortisol, the hormone that makes you feel stressed. Using a weighted blanket, in particular, has been proven to have both mental (lower anxiety and a calm feeling) and physiological (decrease in heart rate, blood pressure, and activity in the nervous system) effects. It makes sense that all these benefits will work on nervous flyers. They certainly worked on me.

My weighted blanket is now a travel essential, guaranteeing some emotional relief, lowered nerves, and a few hours of shut eye. It hasn't erased all of my flying anxieties - I still get preflight jitters as I approach the gate and reach for my boyfriend's hand at takeoff - but it's improved my in-air experience tenfold. Just knowing I'll have an easier time calming down and catching some zzz's is reassuring. Now, when I'm faced with the choice of fight or flight, there's no question: flight.

A Trainer Reveals How to Stay on Track During Your Thanksgiving Feast

Thanksgiving should be one day out of the year where you throw caution to the wind and enjoy whatever you want. But if you overdo it, you may feel tired, sluggish, and head down a slippery slope of overindulging until New Year's Day. You can enjoy your feast while also keeping on track with your goals.

As NASM-certified trainer Myra Victa (@myravicta on Instagram) explained in an Instagram post, there are eight crucial tips for staying on track during Thanksgiving. Her tips are:

  • Drink lots of water before, during, and after your meals.
  • Prioritize protein and veggies.
  • Enjoy the seasonal stuff, but be picky with your indulgences.
  • Eat slowly and without distractions.
  • Stop eating when you're full or when something is no longer enjoyable for you.
  • Be aware of grazing.
  • Use the extra energy to kill your next workout.
  • Lastly, have a great week, and focus more on spending time with your loved ones rather than obsessing over your diet.

You should enjoy the stuffing and pumpkin pie, but you don't need to fill your plate with both; stick to moderate portion sizes to enjoy your food without going overboard. Same goes for grazing; it's easy to hang out in the kitchen and mindlessly munch on crackers, cheese, and other apps before you sit down to eat. Be mindful of what you put on your plate, and make sure you eat slowly and enjoy every bite.

Most of all, enjoy the holiday! You're bound to eat more than you typically do, which is fine; one day won't derail the rest of your year's worth of progress. If you do overdo it and feel sluggish, make sure you get right back to your healthy habits the next day.

20 Buddha Bowl Recipes That Are as Healthy as They Are Delicious

Buddha bowls are one of our favorite food trends - they are overflowing with both flavor and potential. Once you get past their kitschy name (they are so full, like Buddha's tummy), you'll find that a delicious and aesthetically pleasing Buddha bowl incorporates lots of vegetables, grains, and lean proteins.

When arranged correctly, a Buddha bowl will look like a meal that took hours to make, even though it really only took a few minutes. So, forget eating boring salads for lunch and make yourself one of these gorgeous bowls instead - or multiply a recipe by five for a full workweek of meals.

5 Gym Moves That'll Help You Fight Belly Fat, According to a Trainer

Ah, belly fat! It'd be great if we could magically zap it away forever, but, unfortunately, getting rid of it requires a little more work than that. "There are three non-negotiables when it comes to burning belly fat: diet, cardio, and core strengthening exercises. There's no way to spot reduce fat just on your belly to slim your waistline. You must eat clean and do cardio to burn off the fat to get the results you're looking for," says certified personal trainer Sarah Chadwell, NASM. But you can and should also focus on strengthening the muscles on your core to "bolster your results."

Utilizing core-specific training in the gym will tighten and develop your core muscles, giving you toned and lean muscles. Here are five advanced exercises that Chadwell suggests using for sculpting a stronger midsection.

The Fantastic Beasts Sequel Ends With a Big Twist, but Does It Have a Postcredits Scene?

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has hit theaters, and with it comes a whole lot of questions. For instance, what the hell is up with all those crisscrossing, nonsensical timelines? How was that McGonagall cameo possible? And how in the hell is that twist with Credence going to work out? All the nostalgic Harry Potter Easter eggs in the world can't make up for the wild, out-of-left-field plot choices the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them makes scene after scene. But there's one thing we can do: confirm whether there's an end credits scene.

Since the prequel series is going to be five movies total, that means plenty of crazy storylines about Newt, Hot Young Dumbledore, Grindelwald, Tina, and the rest of the characters await us in the years to come. That's why we would've totally expected a brief scene postcredits hinting at what we might expect from our favorite magizoologist. Alas, there is NO midcredits or end-credits scene in the sequel.

The lack of a stinger shouldn't come as a surprise, since none of the eight films in the Harry Potter franchise had one, either (and neither does the first Fantastic Beasts film, for that matter). Instead, you'll be treated to the film's epic score playing out as you mull over the game-changing curveball about Credence Barebone, and nothing else. So, if you have plans to see the movie over Thanksgiving break, save yourself 15 minutes and feel free to hit up the bathroom as soon as the credits start to roll!

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith Prove Sundays Are For Lovers With a Cute Lunch Date

Things between Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith seem to be heating up! On Sunday, the actors looked smitten when they stepped out for lunch in LA. The couple were adorable as they walked around town, holding hands and sharing a few laughs in between. Joshua and Jodie were first linked together this past August when they were spotted walking their dogs in LA. The 32-year-old actress has appeared in TNT's The Last Ship and will be starring in the upcoming TV series Nightflyers and Lena Waithe's Queen & Slim movie. She will also be playing Grace Jones in the Marvin Gaye biopic Sexual Healing.

Even though Joshua is pretty private when it comes to his romantic life, the actor certainly seems to be enjoying dating again since his split from Diane Kruger in 2016. In fact, when he dropped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show in December 2016, Joshua admitted that the dating scene is different than he remembers it. "Everything's in your phone now," he said. "There's no more talking to people anymore. You talk to somebody and they're like, 'Ugh, no no. We don't do that anymore.'"

Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella Make a Precious Appearance For Monaco's National Day

The Monaco royal family made an adorable appearance in honor of the country's National Day celebrations on Monday. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene greeted people from the royal palace's balcony and were joined by their beautiful 3-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. The young royals were as cute as can be as they waved to the crowd, played with their toys, and watched the military parade. The last time we saw Jacques and Gabriella was at the family's end-of-Summer picnic back in August.

National Day, also known as the Sovereign Prince's Day, is celebrated every year and dates back to 1857, when Prince Charles III came up with the holiday in honor of the people of Monaco. When Albert took the throne in 2005, he decided to continue the tradition and declared Nov. 19 as National Day.

Sorry, Newt! Theseus Scamander Has Fantastic Beasts Fans Magically Sprung

The release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has introduced many new and interesting characters to our favorite group of witches and wizards. From the ultra mysterious Nagini to the ill-fated Leta Lestrange, these new characters make quite an impression in the Fantastic Beasts sequel. However, one particular wizard drew the eye, and affection, of many a viewer.

Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner), older brother to Newt, is known for his dashing good looks and obvious affection for both his brother and fiancè. A celebrated war hero and the Head of the Auror Office at the Ministry of Magic, fans were sure he would be an annoying older brother along the lines of Percy Weasley. To the shock of us all, while dedicated to his work within the Auror Office, Theseus obviously cares for Newt (wanting him to come over for dinner and warning him that the Ministry is watching him) and is very in love with Leta.

Theseus has captured the hearts of Fantastic Beasts fans in a big way, and it's safe to say that there's some competition for the favorite Scamander brother. (Personally, I enjoy them both.) Read some of the most enthusiastic reactions from fans ahead!

This Is Us: Randall's College Essay Has the Internet Wishing He Was Available For Tutoring

Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Nov. 20 episode of This Is Us.

If there's anything we know about Randall Pearson, it's that he loves Thanksgiving. So when the festive episode of This Is Us aired on Tuesday night, we should've guessed that his character would shine. While adult Randall, played by Sterling K. Brown, has fans swooning over his shirtless early morning teeth brushing, teenage Randall, played by Niles Fitch, has us tearing up over his impressive college essay. Can someone get this kid a scholarship ASAP?!

The episode "Six Thanksgivings" brings the entire family together in ways we didn't expect. In the present day, Zoe and Kevin join the table via FaceTime from Vietnam, and we are introduced to Miguel's kids. In the past, we see how William first connects with Jessie and how Jack forms a connection with the Vietnamese woman and her son. All of these outstanding and tear-jerking storylines strewn throughout the episode are tied together when teenage Randall reads his college essay out loud to his family.

In the beginning of the episode, we see Randall struggling with the essay prompt. The question asks about the one person who's had the biggest impact on his life, and despite Kevin and Kate urging him to choose the firefighter who found him as a newborn, Randall can't discredit all the other incredible humans who mean so much to him. He reads:

"Now you might say, 'Randall, most of these people are essentially strangers,' but everyone starts off as an essential stranger. I was left at a fire station by my birth father, and then I was found by a fireman, who took me to a hospital, where a doctor showed me to my father, who showed me to my mother. My story is unique, and I feel like it's like that for everyone. Strangers can be your most impactful people. Acquaintances can be your most impactful people. Family can be your most impactful people. And that's why I can't pick the person who's had the greatest impact on my life and why I think your question is flawed. But if you insist on me answering, if it's the only way I can gain entrance into your storied university, I choose the fireman."

I'm no college admissions expert, but the stack of tissues on my floor after that scene should guarantee an automatic acceptance. Watch the moment Randall reads his insightful and profound essay, and see how This Is Us fans reacted to the heartwarming clip ahead.

Kim Kardashian Tells Ellen How Kanye REALLY Feels About Her Sexy Instagram Photos

Does the name Kimberly Kardashian ring a bell? She's married to Kanye West, loves flaunting her famous curves on Instagram, and has three adorable children? Yes, that one! On Wednesday, Kim sat down on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she opened up about being a trendsetter, her sexy Instagram photos, and even shared some intimate details about how Kanye really feels about said photos. Listen, we get it - we've all snapped a photo or two when we're feeling like our finest selves - but it's admittedly enlightening to know how the conversation goes down in the Kardashian-West household following one of Kim's sexy photo sprees.

During Wednesday's episode, Ellen asked Kim how her husband feels about her revealing photos. "Yeah, it does [bother him]," she said. "It's half and half because he always wants me to be me and feel confident and we're having fun, but it also bothers him." Oh, but don't you worry, that doesn't mean the photos will be stopping anytime soon.

"I go through waves," Kim shared. "Sometimes I'm like, 'OK, I'll be more conservative on my Instagram,' and then sometimes I'll really have to get something out if I'm feeling good about myself or I've been working out really hard, and then I'll post something and he'll get upset. It's a cycle." There's no shame in showing off when we're feeling ourselves, but now we know how the famous couple handles the modern-day social media struggle of Kim doing it for the 'gram. Ahead find Kim's segment on Ellen, and some of those sexy photos she's talking about.

The "Fantabulous" Name of Margot Robbie's Birds of Prey Movie Inspires Some Quality Memes

For the last few months, we've all been referring to Margot Robbie's upcoming "girl gang" team-up film as Birds of Prey, but apparently that hasn't been wholly accurate. On Nov. 20, the Suicide Squad actress revealed the film's full title, which is so insane that many initially assumed it was a prank to mess with fans. Alas, it's legit.

When the film, which also stars Ewan McGregor and Rosie Perez, hits theaters in 2020, prepare yourself to be tongue-tied with the full, official name: Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). Kind of fun, kind of a mouthful, no?

Regardless of what you or I think about it, Twitter had plenty to say after Robbie's announcement. See DC fans' funniest thoughts about the latest live-action installment in Harley Quinn's story ahead.

You Absolutely Need to Watch The Princess Switch, Netflix's So-Bad-It's-Good Christmas Movie

For those of you who've ever had a few too many glasses of spiked hot cocoa and found yourselves wondering what The Parent Trap would've been like if it was written by a Christmas-obsessed robot and also made zero sense, then you're in luck: Netflix's The Princess Switch is now streaming, and it's a real treat.

The latest in the streaming giant's collection of so-bad-they're-good holiday romances - A Christmas Prince, A Christmas Inheritance, the list (miraculously) goes on - stars Vanessa Hudgens as Chicago baker Stacy, who ends up meeting soon-to-be princess Lady Margaret who looks exactly like her (also played by Hudgens, of course). Naturally, the two decide to trade places (because duh), which results in a whole ton of cringe-worthy, nonsensical mischief.

To sum things up: nothing makes sense, the snow is very clearly fake, the forced British accents are brutal, and the plot includes a particularly dumb name for a fake country. However - HOWEVER - that's all part of the fun of watching these movies, right? Armed with a bottle of red wine, I decided that, despite my eyes rolling out of my head and onto the floor immediately after reading the premise, I needed to see what antics Stacy would get up to.

6 Reasons You Should Binge Watch Schitt's Creek - Like, Right Now

Since 2015, Schitt's Creek has quietly been building a following. The hilarious show, cocreated by and staring Eugene and Dan Levy, is The Americans of the comedy world: an excellent, critically acclaimed series that fans rave about, but doesn't get nearly the amount of love it deserves.

The Pop TV original series is about the ill-fated Rose family, who despite having lived in the lap of luxury, suddenly find themselves without anything to their name. Except for the town of Schitt's Creek, of course, which was purchased and forgotten about years ago as a gag. There, they find themselves thrust into the rural and tight-knit community, interacting with the locals and trying to adjust to their new world.

Yes, the name is silly, but there's a lot to love about this show, and it's no wonder its fanbase is growing. If you need more convincing to binge watch the show right now, here are six reasons why Schitt's Creek is the one of the best comedies on TV.

10 Sexy Christmas Videos That Belong on Santa's Naughty List

We get it. When we think of the holidays, the word "sexy" rarely comes to mind. Between the presents, the decadent food, and the festive tunes, anything holiday-related usually makes us feel warm and fuzzy, not hot and steamy. However, there are a handful of Christmas music videos out there that may beg to differ. Case in point: Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and Destiny's Child's "8 Days of Christmas" videos. While these videos may not be as steamy as, let's say, Nicki Minaj's, something tells us Santa Claus would think twice about putting them on his nice list.

Ariana Grande Re-Creating Legally Blonde Is Great, but Wait Until You See Reese Witherspoon's Reply

It's official: Ariana Grande and Reese Witherspoon are best friends. OK, this might not be true, but judging by their recent exchange, it wouldn't surprise us. The Sweetener singer is teasing her new video for "Thank u, Next", and it looks like she's re-creating iconic chick flicks for the occasion.

First she teased a Mean Girls look, then 13 Going on 30 got involved, and on Tuesday, she teased a photo with the caption, "Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed," a quote from Legally Blonde. As if that wasn't good enough, the one and only Reese Witherspoon, the original Elle Woods, replied. She responded with the next famous line from the film, "Also... 2 weeks ago I saw Cameron Diaz at Fred Segal and I talked her out of buying a truly heinous angora sweater!" Oh, and Ariana also posted a photo of her and Jennifer Coolidge, aka Paulette, hanging out with Legally Blonde attire on. Does it get any more iconic? Probably not.

Keep reading to see all of the snippets Ariana has dropped on her Instagram, and get ready to bend and snap to the new music video.

Brace Yourselves - You Have Less Than a Month to Watch Moana on Netflix Before It Disappears

Like the rest of the world, you've probably watched Disney's Moana a million times since it debuted on Netflix in June 2017. With an inspiring story, a strong, empowering female lead, and an incredible soundtrack featuring hits from Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jordan Fisher, it's no surprise that the movie is insanely popular. The adorable animated film has delighted kids of all ages since its release in late 2016, and its easy access on the streaming giant made rewatching a breeze. Unfortunately, that's all about to change come December.

With it's reveal of the new titles hitting the site next month, Netflix also showed which titles will be leaving for good. Dealing a crushing blow to families everywhere, Moana is one of the films being removed during the holiday season - subscribers will only have until Dec. 20 to get their fill of the titular heroine and her adventures. Since Disney is rolling out its own streaming site in 2019, this also means that folks will have to subscribe to that to watch anything Disney. So, it's definitely time to adjust your plans for some rewatches before the film is gone from Netflix for good. The sanity of your household depends on it!

The 5 Best (and Worst) Things About Being a Work-From-Home Parent

Since I gave birth to my first child almost eight years ago, I've been a work-from-home mom as a full-time, part-time, and contract employee. My work status has garnered jealous comments from both my stay-at-home parent and traditional working parent friends, who love the idea of wearing pajamas to the office and spending more time with their kids, and I never quite know how to respond. Yes, I know I'm lucky to have the flexibility of working from home, but is it a perfect professional world? Absolutely not.

For every day that I thank my lucky stars that I get to work from my kitchen counter while my son contentedly plays with his action figures in the next room, there's another that I crave the consistency and quiet I remember from my office jobs while my kids are demanding their third snack or a game of Candy Land while I'm racing to meet a deadline. If you're a parent who works from home, thinking of becoming one, or just envious of your friends who are, here are the five best - and five worst - parts of the WFHP life.

Here's How Much You Should Tip Your Nanny For the Holidays

The holidays are that happy time of year when you inevitably get stressed about what perfect gift to get your kids, partner, in-laws, friends, neighbors, kids' teachers, and, yes, nanny. Luckily for you, there's a pretty easy answer as to what to give the latter: cash.

Like hairdressers and housekeepers, nannies often depend on bonuses. Still, it's not always easy to figure out exactly how much to give during the holiday season. But here's a good rule of thumb from the Emily Post Institute: full-time domestic help, such as a cook, nanny, or personal caregiver, should receive between a week's and a month's pay, plus a gift. Meanwhile, childcare finder Care.com says one week's salary is the norm but acknowledges that some families give more or less.

Of course, this depends on a number of factors, including your financial situation, the number of children you have, the demands of your nanny's job, and how long they've worked for you. If any of these numbers are higher than average, then it's wise to consider giving more than just one week of extra pay. You also might be extra generous if you're trying to keep them around for a while!

Aside from a cash bonus, a thoughtful gift - think a gift certificate to their favorite store or restaurant - from the children can go a long way. Personal, handmade items, such as drawings or baked goods, are another good option. Finally, any gift or tip should always be accompanied by a short, handwritten note of appreciation - after all, they do put up with a lot from your kiddos all year.

22 Harry Potter Ornaments That’ll Make Your Tree Look Like the Ones in Hogwarts

If you're a Harry Potter fan, you've no doubt spent long periods of time caught up in your own daydreams about what it would be like to spend Christmas at Hogwarts. The Great Hall, full of trees dragged in and decorated by Hagrid, pumpkin juice served up with meals, a Christmas feast followed by a game of Wizards' Chess - sounds utterly delightful. Since we're not at Hogwarts, however, there's no reason our own trees can't hold a little bit of wizards' magic in them to at least make us feel a bit like we're away at school with our best wizard and witch friends.

Ahead, our favorite Harry Potter ornaments that'll make your muggle tree feel magical.

I'm So Over Elf on the Shelf, but My Kids Aren't - Now What?

I never thought I would dread the return of my family's Elf on the Shelf. Since she arrived four years ago, "Mary Christmas," named by my now 7-year-old daughter, has always brought joy to my heart - mostly because she offers a new and much more effective threat for my often-misbehaving children.

For the rest of the year, I'll warn them that they'll lose their iPads or a play date if they continue to act like animals, and it barely seems to register before they go back to hitting each other or ignoring whatever task I'm imploring them to complete. But a mere "Mary's watching" and my little monsters straighten right up in impressive and speedy fashion. My connection to Santa, they obviously believe, is tenuous at best; she has a direct freaking line.

Four years in, I'm just super sick of moving that elf every damn night for a freaking month.

But this year, I'm less excited about the arrival of my former favorite holiday behavior-manipulation tool. In fact I'm feeling quite distressed about it, and I'm trying to figure out why. Is it because I'm sensing that my daughter's belief in Santa is wavering? And, let's face it: If she's questioning him, how is she not wondering if a plastic-and-plush toy is also a parent-driven hoax? Is it because of the very real threat that our 5-month-old puppy poses to an elf that very closely resembles a chew toy? Is it because I'm questioning whether our elf is more psychologically scarring than just a bit of holiday fun?

The truth is none of those things. Actually, four years in, I'm just super sick of moving that elf every damn night for a freaking month. It's not even that I get super clever with my elf placement. The one and only time I set up a creative elf scene - she'd gotten into some Trader Joe's Candy Cane Joe-Joe's and made a real mess – my daughter had a 7 a.m. meltdown because she was jealous that Mary the elf got to eat cookies for breakfast and she didn't. Instead, I stick to the basic spots. She moves from our tree to some garland to each and every light fixture and in a glass cabinet or two. Yet, even that takes work, especially of the mental variety, and isn't December stressful enough on a parent?!

God forbid that I should forget to move the elf and destroy my children's belief in her magic and therefore, in Santa's, and oh sh*t, I've ruined Christmas for them for life. It's all too much pressure on a parent who's also spending December searching eBay for a 10-year-old toy my son found on YouTube Kids, and wrapping that monstrosity; trying to convince my daughter that Santa doesn't get a discount on those $350 American Girl Airstream trailers, spaceships, and beauty parlors; attending every holiday school program and adults-only party (because we need alcohol to make it through to the new year, obviously); and trying to pack for a holiday getaway that apparently requires at least eight suitcases, one of which I'll have to subversively stuff our elf into because my kids are sure she doesn't return to the North Pole until Christmas Eve.

I'm tired just thinking about it. So yeah, I'm not looking forward to kicking off the Christmas madness by bringing out our Elf on the Shelf, although I know it's unavoidable. "When does our elf come back?" my sweet 4-year-old son asked me this morning. "Oh, usually after Thanksgiving," I told him, trying to keep the look of dread off my face. "I can't wait to see her again," he innocently replied, thawing my elf-hating heart. I guess my plan to replace her with the more mom-friendly Shiraz on the Shelf will have to wait a few more years. Until then, there will be Sauvignon Blanc in my fridge and a pesky elf sitting on top of it.

Mariah Carey Sang Karaoke With Fans in an Elevator, and We Regret Taking the Stairs Today

Imagine getting to karaoke Mariah Carey's greatest hits with the Mariah Carey herself? MTV made the dreams of several Carey superfans come true when it had the singer stop by the "TRLevator" while celebrating the release of her new album, Caution. Not only did we get to see fans do their best Carey "Oooooh" to her saucy hit "GTFO," but we also heard them sing along to some of her classic hits like "Always Be My Baby." We haven't seen Mariah sing along like this since her ride with James Corden on Carpool Karaoke!

The video also contains highly memorable moments, like superfans screaming "Justice for Glitter!" - which somehow climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes chart recently, FYI - as well as Carey pausing the sing-along to pose for a perfectly timed photo. Watch the video ahead, and warm up your vocals. You never know who'll be in the next elevator!

Jimmy Kimmel Called on His Celebrity Friends For a Very Special Performance of "We're Going to Hell"

Jimmy Kimmel hosted his annual (RED) show on Monday to draw attention to the fight against AIDS, and he called on a number of celebrity friends (aka the "Red Pack") for the final musical number, "We're Going to Hell." Bono, Zoe Saldana, Chris Rock, Brad Paisley, Mila Kunis, and Channing Tatum were among the A-list guest stars, but perhaps the most fitting member of the glamorous group was The Good Place star Kristen Bell, who had a very firm answer when Jimmy asked "has anyone here actually ever been to hell?"

The lyrics of the song touch on the group's privilege, from Brad's art collection to Zoe's extreme vacation plans and even the fact their kids take diamonds to show and tell . . . before reminding everyone that "if we don't help people with AIDS, we're going to hell." And what does hell look like exactly? Well, there's dial-up internet, for a start. Watch the gang explain more ahead, then check out another of Jimmy's annual classics: his Halloween candy prank.
