I Did a Random Act of Kindness Every Day For a Week, and Here's What Happened
When I fell into a deep depression after losing a pregnancy last year, it was the smallest things that lifted my spirits, and helped me get through each day. A smile, a kind word, someone holding a door open for me. Those considerate gestures helped me feel less alone and remember there is still so much good in the world.
With my experience in mind, I decided to perform one random act of kindness each day for a week. My hope was to brighten someone else's day much like people did for me when I really needed it. I expected that helping others would also make me feel good. What I didn't expect was how much approaching my week with the intent to show kindness to others would open up a whole new world. I ended up learning that opportunities to show kindness to others are all around us, if we take the time to look for them.
Read on to see exactly what happened when I did a random act of kindness every day. Here's hoping you'll be inspired, too.

Stop What You're Doing - Disneyland Has a Chocolate Churro For the First Time Ever, and It's Crazy Good
Out of all of Disneyland's new 2018 holiday churros, there is one you can. not. miss. The brand-new chocolate churro with crushed pretzels and peppermint is a perfect mix of sweet and salty, but what really sets it apart from the cinnamon-coated pastry pack is that it's the first time Disneyland has served a true chocolate churro. I spoke with Nubia Renteria, pastry sous chef at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, who confirmed to POPSUGAR that it's never been done before. "The chocolate churro is all chocolate - the dough itself is chocolate - it's dusted with cocoa powder and sugar and then glazed with a chocolate sauce, pretzels, and peppermint candies," Renteria said.
At the park, I made sure to try the hot new ticket in town, and it's absolutely delicious. While some seasonal flavors can be overly sweet, have an artificial aftertaste, or just get dusted in flavorless colored sprinkles for show, this crunchy churro is a uniquely flavored treat that is chocolaty without being too sweet. The only downside? It's a drippy mess to eat, so have those napkins handy!
In fact, it even beat out the s'mores churro with marshmallow dipping sauce as my favorite churro at the park! Even Renteria, who's been with Disney for 18 years, agrees. She called this "delicious" churro her new favorite - aside from the classic, of course.
The chocolate churro with crushed pretzels and peppermint is $5.25 and located at the Frontierland Churro Cart near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Keep reading to see more photos of the seasonal churros at Disneyland during the holidays!

Hold on to Your Santa Hat, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like a Christmas-Themed Wedding
Let's be honest, Winter is amazing. It's that time of year when you can bundle up near a fireplace and sip on hot cocoa all day and, best of all, you can spend your holidays with your loved ones. Well, photographer Jessica Palacios managed to capture the amazing essence of the holiday season in this gorgeous Christmas-themed wedding shoot. "By the time Halloween comes around, I'm ready for some holiday cheer. I know I'm not the only one!" said Jessica. "We wanted to embrace every essence of Christmas with the styled shoot. The textures of this shoot to the small details, I truly believe we captured Christmas in the form of a wedding."
This shoot absolutely embodies the Christmas spirit in every detail. Even the intricate embroidery on the bride's bodice is reminiscence of snowflake patterns. The groom looks festive in a sharp suit with a lapel pin above his breast pocket made from holly leaves. The food and drinks were laid out on a wooden table, which adds a rustic charm to the shoot, while mistletoe leaves, pine cones, and wreaths are elegantly used to decorate the room. In most of the photos, the most prominent colors are deep red, forest green, and gold, which perfectly reflect the magic of Christmas.

Politicians and Family Pay Tribute to George H.W. Bush Following His Death
Former president George Herbert Walker Bush passed away in his Houston home on Friday at the age of 94. His death comes less than eight months after the passing of his wife Barbara. Bush lived with a form of Parkinson's disease and a day after Barbara's funeral, he was treated for a blood infection. He will be laid to rest alongside his late wife and their daughter, Robin, who, sadly, died at age three from leukemia.
Bush is remembered, not only by his children George, Jeb, Pauline, Dorothy, Neil, and Marvin, and his 17 grandchildren, but by his colleagues, friends, and the American public. Read on to see tributes from his family and politicians on both sides of the aisle.

4 Things I Wish People Would Stop Saying to Single Women
I don't talk much about my personal life, especially on the internet. Why? Partly because I tend to be a pretty private person, but also because I'm a single woman in my 20s. Mentioning my singledom, whether to friends and family or in passing online inevitably leads to a slew of uninvited comments. It definitely doesn't help that I'm hitting that age where the people I used to eat lunch and talk about philosophy homework with are getting married and having children and posting it all over social media. And as genuinely nice as it is to have people asking about my life because they care about me, it's also a little much sometimes - and my other single friends seem to run into a lot of the same things. So what are some of the most common things I hear? Here we go.
1. "Let me set you up with my (friend/coworker/brother's roommate's cousin)"
While I appreciate the thought, I really wish people would stop immediately trying to play matchmaker. While blind dates might work for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, more often than not, they're awkward and forced and the parties don't actually turn out to have as much in common as the matchmaker thinks. Offers like these put me in an awkward spot: How do I gracefully decline without hurting your feelings or indirectly insulting your friend? If we're actually close enough friends that I would go to you for dating advice, I promise I'll ask you directly if I think that guy from your cooking class's group Insta photo is cute. Otherwise, please let it be.
2. "You must not be trying hard enough."
GIRL. Believe me, I have tried. I really have a hard time when people say this because it implies that dating is something like riding a bike or learning to speak French; an objective thing that can be "achieved" through sheer willpower and effort. But since you're dealing with complex things like emotions and other human beings with emotions and free will, dating is not anything like that. Some of the single people I know have tried endless dating apps and hobby groups and all the "right" things and are still single, while some of the happiest couples I know met with almost no effort whatsoever, like something out of a movie. You can't "try" to fall for someone or "try" to have a connection, either.
The corollary to this: I genuinely think people who say things like this don't realize how much pressure it can put on the single person they're talking to. For me, at least, I can get pretty up in my own head when it comes to dating, and it can be hard sometimes to remind myself that my single status is not a "failure" on my part, but a simple fact of circumstance. But when people say things like this, it puts me right back in that mindset - and that's not conducive to trying to date either.
3. "You're single? But you're so (fill in positive adjective)!"
Uh, thanks, I guess? I never know what to say with this one. It's like a weird backhanded compliment. But, surprise! Singledom is not the domain of the "flawed"; being single does not mean something is wrong with someone. Being attractive / smart / good at talking / whatever is not the only thing that's important in dating. I know you think it's a compliment, but from the other side of it, it doesn't really feel like one. Plus, it's super awkward to try to figure out a response to that. I can't say "thank you" because it's not really a compliment, but I feel like I should because it sort of is one. It's just uncomfortable. Honestly, I'd rather talk about something related to whatever that trait is - that way, I know you see me as a whole person, not just with the big label "SINGLE" above all else.
4. Anything about how unhappy I must be, aka variations on "Don't worry!"
OK, I'll admit it: sometimes I do worry about dying alone. I'm pretty sure everyone who feels romantic attraction worries, at some point, about never meeting the love of their life. But here's the thing: that doesn't mean life doesn't start until then. I'm passionate about my career and have a master's degree to prove it. I love my friends and family. I have hobbies I enjoy. Pop culture so often portrays romance as the "missing puzzle piece" or something like that, but I don't think of it like that. It's more like moving into a different sized apartment: there's nothing inherently wrong with a small one, life just expands in interesting ways.
The truth is, sometimes I'm unhappy about being single. The truth also is, sometimes I'm perfectly happy being single. There are even times when I'm unhappy and it has absolutely nothing to do with my relationship status. It's not a one-size-fits-all thing, and it's certainly not a small-talk topic of conversation. I get it: the people who say something along these lines really do care about me; they say it because they don't want me to be unhappy. Assuming I'm unhappy single, though, makes me feel like the other things I do aren't of value or aren't enough to make a person happy.
What all of this really boils down to is this: please stop making assumptions about me just because I'm single. A relationship is certainly something I want, but it's still super uncomfortable when everyone tries to give me unasked-for advice, and it puts me in an awkward spot because I know the questions and advice do come from a place of caring. But when it comes down to it, I'm so much more than my relationship status, and in most cases, I'd much rather talk about something related to my work or my hobbies or my friends. And someday when it's time to introduce a wonderful guy, I'll feel a lot better if I can feel comfortable knowing the first words out of my loved ones' mouths won't be "Oh, FINALLY!"

15 Travel-Friendly Beauty Products to Get TSA Off Your Back
The stress of traveling with beauty products is a lot like competing in a high-profile baking competition: you hope what you put forth on the table will make it through to the next round - and that your favorite serum makes the cut. To avoid a product getting confiscated at the airport, there are a few rules you can keep in mind.
First, there is a "3-1-1 rule" for liquids, gels, and aerosol products you can bring in a carry-on: every product must be 3.4 ounces or less and fit in a one-quart-size, clear plastic zip-up bag. Each passenger is limited to one of these bags, so choose your serums and liquid foundations wisely. Second, powder and solid makeup can be brought in both a carry-on or a checked bag. If you choose to travel with a powder product that weighs more than 12 ounces, it must be placed in a separate bin for screening.
To cut out some of the guesswork, we've put together a list of mini beauty products that are sure to get through the judging process. Safe travels!

Target Is Selling a Christmas Tree Sweatshirt. The Hood Is a Tree. Where Do We Pay?
We've never met a person in a Christmas costume or ugly sweatshirt we didn't fall head over heels in love with - something about their dedication to the holiday, coupled with a willingness to be uncomfortable.
If you've been starstruck by Target's wearable Christmas tree costume but wondered how you'd actually move around in it, it seems as though Target put their heads together and came up with something much more subtle. May we present the Christmas Fleece Extreme Tree Trim Sweatshirt ($20). It still receives high marks in the humor department; it's just much easier to walk in.

Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me: There Is No Postpartum Care
Ever heard of a sitz bath? There is one thing I wish I had known before I left the hospital with my first baby - that once you leave, there is no postpartum care. Yes, you have a checkup at six weeks, but it's after most of the discomfort has passed. The shock of what has happened to your body may not have passed.
By the time I got back to my OB at six weeks, I'd figured out that my tailbone was probably broken from childbirth and was told - by a doctor I had really liked - a broken tailbone is a broken tailbone. As in, there's really nothing to do except let time heal it. It was discouraging. I had mistakenly been looking for a little help. In those crucial early weeks of nursing and bonding with my child, sitting was unbearably painful. I quickly bought a doughnut ring to sit on and became very choosy about chairs, but it didn't change the fact that I had to sit down to feed my baby every other hour, and that discomfort, even with all of the meds and padding, made nursing my infant feel something like torture. I wasn't fully healed until five or six months postpartum. This might be why many women shell out for those seemingly overpriced gliders. No price is too high for a little comfort at that stage.
A friend of mine was discharged postpartum only to have her newborn readmitted a day later for jaundice. In their city hospital, all the rooms with space for parents with newborns were full. This new mother had to sleep in the waiting room and sit there during the day in between nursing and pumping for her newborn. During this time, her stitches came out and she contracted an infection, so she had to be readmitted and treated. She said that recovery was far more painful than labor itself.
While her story is unusual, it seems fairly common that the pain new mothers experience is overlooked or unseen by the medical community. Care between mothers and newborns is not well coordinated. In the hospital, you'll be given some info about postpartum bleeding - called lochia - and a nurse might talk to you about the baby blues or postpartum depression. Once home, you can call your doctor or clinic for some advice, but in between figuring out your new baby, nursing, and being physically limited, you may not have the wherewithal to get yourself to the doctor. I found it strange in retrospect that the baby's health is checked every week or two in the first months, whereas your own body is supposed to magically take care of itself. Yes, it does heal, but it's better to inform yourself beforehand and be prepared.
Ask your friends, doula, or physician what you might need to care for yourself after you leave the hospital. You might find yourself in significant pain, especially while sitting, either from bruising during labor, from healing stitches, or painful hemorrhoids. You may have strong contractions, called afterpains, or have trouble using the bathroom from a stressed bladder and perineal muscles. You may pass blood clots as your uterus heals or be so sore and tired that you experience deep body aches. If you've had a C-section, you may not be able to hold and lift your baby well or without pain. Your body has a lot of healing to do even while you are giving much of your energy to the newborn.
In many cases, rest, pain medications, and frequent baths will be most important. The time it takes to heal is one reason people talk of organizing help or meals after baby arrives. Instead of thinking, "I can do this," think, "I'll take all the help I can get." Don't minimize your pain. Make sure you communicate about how you are feeling with your spouse and with your doctor. Take time getting back to your usual speed. I think I took my first walk outside the apartment a full week after my first labor. I was pushing a stroller, confused by the actual sunlight and roaring traffic and investigating dogs, all of which seemed dangerous to my child. But it wasn't - she slept through the noise and sidewalk bumps, and so we just kept going.
We walked a lot in the early months, with a sling or the stroller, and while it was slower than my solo pace, it was also refreshing to feel my legs stretch and gather strength, week by week. The body I knew returned but very slowly, and my memory of that painful recovery still shadows my experience of having children.

The Book Every Pregnant Woman Needs to Read - and It's Not About Baby!
We prepare for pregnancy by tracking ovulation and taking prenatal vitamins. We spend nine months going to doctors appointments, following baby's size week to week, and attending classes that promise to make our birth experiences easier. We prepare for parenthood by creating registries that overflow with "must-haves" and learning infant CPR.
But we do very little, if anything, to prepare for the postpartum period.
I learned the hard way with my first two babies that neglecting yourself in the postpartum period can have long-lasting effects. With my first, I had a rough emotional recovery from an emergency c-section that took me nearly 12 months to "get over." I entertained visitors (even the ones who brought food) nonstop. Weeks after my second son's birth I was hospitalized for a bacterial infection and spent much of the following year sick and worn down. I pushed myself because I didn't want to miss any of my older child's activities.
It was too much. So when I was pregnant with my third I hired an amazing postpartum midwife. And beyond her hands on care and guidance in the weeks following the birth of my daughter the best gift she gave me was a book recommendation: The First Forty Days: The Essential Art of Nourishing the New Mother ($17).
Heng Ou, who is also the founder of MotherBees, a food and lifestyle company for women in every stage of motherhood, authored the book with Amely Greeven and Marisa Belger after her own postpartum experience with the traditional Chinese period of "confinement." While nearly half of the 224 pages are devoted to recipes and the importance of food, Ou goes so far beyond that in helping you understand, prepare for, and respect this important season in your life. It's what women are actually supposed to do after giving birth, but somewhere along the way that message got lost for many of us.
"But somehow we've forgotten the time-honored wisdom that this special cocoon of care should extend to the mother as well."
When did it become the norm to take baby out days after birth? For the goal to be "getting back to normal" and being able to do it all with a newborn a badge of honor? When did those precious weeks after giving life become so undervalued and neglected? Ou writes, "Today in the West, we are waking up to the importance of cocooning baby in the weeks following birth. But somehow we've forgotten the time-honored wisdom that this special cocoon of care should extend to the mother as well."
In sharing her own experiences and revealing the traditions of other cultures, Ou makes it immediately obvious how little importance Western culture places on those first six weeks (roughly 40 days) after baby's birth. She gives mothers the critically needed permission to reframe our own experience. To respect and protect those 40 days as "a time of amazing intensity and massive adjustment." And then she guides you in actually preparing for it.
The book includes three chapters that break down the three phases during which you intentionally prepare and plan for the first forty days so that when you reach postpartum you have the tools you need to be supported and cared for.
- The Gathering: This phase occurs during the final months of pregnancy when you should be stocking your pantry, filling your freezer, and assembling your "village." Ou shares specific checklists of things you need to do, like create your "nest,"and prepare, like bone broth to freeze. This section helped me prioritize the never-ending to-dos that seem to pop up in the frenzy of those final few months and focus on what was most important for me to have a positive postpartum experience.
- The Passage: This short chapter about birth (obviously) gives nonjudgemental advice for preparing for your baby's arrival, whether it's non-medicated at home or a scheduled C-section. I appreciated that she kept this brief since there are so many other books and classes and so much talk about childbirth elsewhere.
- The Gateway: Here, Ou breaks the first forty days down into four phases that correspond to the number of days postpartum. The first seven days are "a soft landing," followed by "the true beginning" in days eight through fifteen and so on. Within each phase she explains what will be happening with you and your baby and what you should be focusing on, like rest and sustenance. Of course, I'd already been through this twice before, but I still felt so understood and ready after reading these pages.
Following are pages of recipes with realistic advice and gentle reminders sprinkled throughout. In all honesty, I didn't make any of the food (though many recipes seemed doable and delicious), but I gained so much from Ou's other words.
The wisdom in the book, coupled with my postpartum midwife, made my third postpartum experience feel like a true blessing. I had my "village" lined up, my meals scheduled, and my nest in order, but more than that, I knew the importance of taking care of myself and made it a priority. It felt like a true gift to be able to slow down and snuggle up in my postpartum bubble without worry for what might be expected of me, or what I thought I "should" be doing. I was privileged to be able to do so.
In a society that doesn't value the importance of the season, or provide the critically needed support, we have to protect and prepare for the postpartum ourselves, and Forty Days is an invaluable tool for doing that.

There's no denying it - 2018 was a tough one (a raging dumpster fire, if you will) not unlike the two years that came before it. With so many sad and terrifying headlines populating our news feeds, it's no shocker that most of us turned to entertainment (and our couches) as a refuge. From movies like Black Panther and shows like Queer Eye, to the wonder of a man that is Noah Centineo (aka Peter Kavinsky) and American athletes like Adam Rippon who made the Olympics (yes, that was THIS year) hilarious, there have been so many notable moments in pop culture in 2018.
If you're expecting a baby in 2019, why not give your sweet little babe the name of a celebrity or character who kept you sane? We've compiled our absolute favorite names inspired by 2018's biggest movies, TV shows, stars, and moments - and they're all so damn good (I for one, will probably name my first kid Chadwick).

If You're So F*cking Over Unicorns, the "Dead" Unicorn Cake Trend Was Made For You
First there were picture-perfect, Instagram-ready unicorn cakes. Then came fat unicorn cakes. And now, "dead" unicorn cakes are on the brink of taking over social media, likely due to the fact that the mythical horn-topped creatures have fully inundated every facet of our lives over the past few years.
Though the first few dead unicorn cakes ever shared on social media are a bit gory and feature red icing to mimic blood, it looks like Instagram user naturally.jo was the first person to go the less-graphic route, crafting a white fondant-covered unicorn-shaped cake that reveals gorgeous rainbow-colored layers when sliced. Since the 17-year-old (yep, you read that correctly) shared his dead unicorn cake masterpiece with his followers, a few others have followed suit, creating their own renditions. It's truly only a matter of time before these completely take over your Instagram feed because, let's face it: it's time to kiss the unicorn trend goodbye.

This Is How We're Saving Up For a Big Family Trip
If you've ever been to Walt Disney World, you know that it's not only the happiest place on earth, but also one of the most expensive. This Spring, we'll be taking our first vacation there as a family of 5, so, as you can imagine, it's taking an exorbitant amount of planning.
When we decided to go, money-saving tips were the first thing we researched. We've already booked one of their value resorts, passed on the pricey dining plans, and settled on driving instead of flying. But since we'll be there on our daughter's fifth birthday, we know we definitely won't be able to skate by without a visit to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or a few character dining experiences. Then there's the souvenirs that I'm sure our three children will need (we'll let each of them choose one). All of those extras will undoubtedly cost a pretty penny. Here are three slightly unconventional ways we're saving up for them.
1. Making Every Penny Count
Literally. Since we almost exclusively use cash in our household, we end up with a lot of change. All of that change makes its way to a giant water cooler bottle. We'll roll it into our car and cash it in at our bank right before our trip. There's no telling how much we'll have, but the fact that it's been building for over a year now with another several months to go leaves me hopeful that we'll get at least a couple hundred dollars.
2. Ibotta
If you haven't downloaded the Ibotta app, then drop everything and do it right now. It requires minimal effort, and I've earned over $300 since joining two years ago. How fast or how slow your earnings accumulate depends on how you use it (I don't let it change my shopping habits, so I tend to earn slowly), and you can get lots of bonus cash for mobile shopping and referring your friends. That money can be used to purchase electronic gift cards or transferred directly to your Paypal or Venmo account. With our upcoming trip, I'm letting my earnings build, and I'll withdraw the money right before we go. By the time Spring rolls around, there should be at least $100 in my account to use for some small souvenirs for each of our kids.
3. Credit Card Points
As a rule, we don't rely on credit cards. However, certain things (like my gym membership, online purchases, and travel expenses) require them, so we're accumulating points. Our credit card allows us to use our points toward our balance, which is exactly what we'll do once we purchase our park tickets. Since we don't use our cards much, we certainly won't have enough points to cover the cost of our tickets in their entirety, but something is better than nothing!
The Best Stocking Stuffers For Your Toddler, No Matter Their Interests
Once your teeny baby becomes a toddler, personality development goes into overdrive and you find yourself with a curious little one who has so many interests (granted, some of those interests may be the neighborhood garbage men or the actual trash can in your kitchen). If you're stuck over what to get your toddler for the holidays, the key, in my opinion, is a bunch of little gifts that will keep them busy in different ways.

This Is What the Holidays Are Like When Your Partner Works Crazy Hours
When I was growing up, I was lucky enough that my whole family was together on holidays. We celebrated with my mom, dad, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. I always envisioned doing the same for my children when I became a mom. And while our growing family does partake in all kinds of fun holiday traditions every year, it's become our norm that one person is almost always absent.
My husband has a shift work job, so we rarely spend a lot of time together as a family during regular months, but during the holidays, the overtime shifts and extra jobs offer a very enticing paycheck he understandably has difficulty turning down. It's never easy for him to miss out on seeing our daughter's face light up when we have breakfast with Santa or miss our toddler's squeals of delight at a lit up Christmas tree, but we make the holidays work for us, whether that means celebrating without him or celebrating on a different day.
As difficult as it can be for me to explain to two little faces looking up at me and wondering why daddy's not there, it's just as hard for him to be at work knowing they're missing him.
I've continued the traditions we did when I was a child, like spending time with extended family on Thanksgiving, taking the kids to see Santa, picking the perfect Christmas tree, and baking cookies, but I've learned to just plan things as though my husband won't be around for them, then if he happens to be home for one or a few, it's that much better! I can't say I don't care when he's not there, but that's just life for us, and I make the best of it for myself and our kids. And when he is around for those moments, we put even more focus and appreciation on being together.
The biggest thing we had to get used to during the holidays was learning how to prioritize those traditions. Everyone's calendars fill up quickly, so we ask ourselves things like, "Which events does he really want to be a part of and which ones is he OK (and will the kids be OK with him) skipping?" At the top of our list is getting our Christmas tree with my brother and his family, which my husband and I have done since well before we were married with children. It's our favorite holiday tradition, so we always try to make it work. It's been really fun watching our families grow from two couples to two pair of moms and dads with four kids between us. It's memories like these where we can slow down and spend quality time together that make the holiday hustle worthwhile.
Then there's things like holiday crafts, breakfast with Santa, and cookie baking and decorating. While my husband would obviously enjoy seeing the kids dip their hands and feet in paint to create a holiday-themed work of art or watch them go nuts spreading far too much frosting on sugar cookies, he's content with pictures and videos. And the kids are usually focused enough to not really miss his presence. Sometimes we get our Christmas tree and it sits bare in the living room for days before we can all decorate together, and sometimes he sets it up and goes to sleep before his next shift and we decorate without him. When we go to church on Christmas Eve and have dinner with our extended family, there's an obvious hole at our table if he's working. We just try to take it one memory-making moment at a time.
One Christmas, he was working overnight and was scheduled to come home Christmas morning. He didn't want to miss seeing our daughter come down the stairs to her presents under the tree, but she wakes up before he gets home. So, I kept her in my room reading Christmas books and painting her nails until he came through the front door, and we all went downstairs together. This year, he'll come home Thanksgiving morning and need to go to sleep while our house fills with family and I entertain and prep our meal. But he'll wake up and enjoy turkey with us before heading back to work, so everybody wins.
It just takes a little tweaking and understanding on both our parts. As difficult as it can be for me to explain to two little faces looking up at me and wondering why daddy's not there, it's just as hard for him to be at work knowing they're missing him. We've become very good at working together to communicate our feelings. If there's an event I really want him to be at with us, I need to tell him it's important to me and not brush it off like it doesn't matter. Not being honest about my expectations or desires would leave me feeling resentful and him feeling confused about why I'm upset. And this is where our village comes in, too. We make plans with friends and other family members to ensure we're getting the most out of every moment with or without daddy. I have a network of friends whose husbands also work crazy hours, and it's extremely helpful and heartwarming knowing we are here for one another.
While I sit and go over dates and events for the holiday season wondering which my husband might be able to attend, it's not far from my mind that some parents do this alone all the time. Some children's parents are overseas, some have to split their time between two houses, and some may have lost a parent. So, during the holiday season especially, we make sure to count our blessings and remain thankful for what we do have. If we celebrate Thanksgiving on the last Wednesday of the month or Christmas a few days late, who cares? We still have each other.
