19 Must-See Christmas Movies For Kids Depending on Their Age

Christmas movies are the best movies no matter how old you are, but often the films you watch with your family as a child stick with you the longest and become the ones you choose to share as a parent. I'll go straight to sharing Home Alone and other '90s holiday flicks with my own kids, but there are so many older, classic movies and new favorites that all kids should see snuggled up on the couch with hot chocolate (extra marshmallows). However, some of these family movies - both old and new - aren't necessarily for kids of all ages due to things like violence, bad language, obnoxious consumerism, and characters who question the reality of Santa.

Read through for 19 Christmas movies that all kids definitely need to see, but might need to hold off on depending on their age.

Celebrity Nutritionist and Wellness Expert Kelly LeVeque Shares 5 Self-Care Tips For New Moms

The weeks and months after you have a baby can be the biggest mix of emotions. You're tired, sore, happy, hormonal, and so many other things all rolled into one. And since keeping your new little human alive is now your main focus, it can be hard to find any time for yourself. But you still matter! POPSUGAR recently spoke with Kelly LeVeque, a holistic nutritionist, wellness expert, and celebrity health coach, about little things you can do every day to make sure your needs still remain a priority when you become a parent.

Kelly, who is also the author of Body Love: Every Day, which comes out in April 2019, encourages new moms to make small changes in order to develop sustainable habits to live a healthy and balanced life. So if you're feeling a little overwhelmed and not like yourself after having a baby, keep reading to see what you can start doing now to feel stronger and better than ever.

1. Commit to a Green Smoothie

Kelly, whose celebrity clients include Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, and Molly Sims, always commits to starting her day with a Fab Four smoothie. "As a new mom, it helps ensure I'm fueled quickly with the perfect balance of protein, fat, fiber, and greens," she told POPSUGAR. "That way, if the day escapes me or lunch happens later, I'm still balanced. Plus, if friends bring by celebratory treats or we resort to ordering takeout, I can feel good that I still drank my greens!" Her big tip: buy bulk protein powder, shelf-stable fats like MCT or coconut oil, and fiber like chia or flax to ensure you always have what you need. Frozen spinach also is a great smoothie hack, because it doesn't wilt and you never need to add ice.

2. Make Sunday Self-Care a Family Affair

If your kids try to get in on your self-care routine, incorporate them sometimes in small ways. "I love the bath and so does my son Sebastian, so instead of giving up my Sunday soak, I pull him in with me," Kelly explained. "I don't mind ditching all of my scented bath oils for the coziest 30 minutes of my week. A little hypoallergenic baby bath from Honest and a few tablespoons of Now Magnesium Flakes and we're both beyond relaxed and ready for bed."

3. Roll Through Nap Time

Kelly suggests trying to get your baby to take one nap a day in the stroller bassinet. "Getting out of the house and walking is the best way to get moving again and prevent being stir crazy in the first few weeks," she said. "It's also the perfect transition back into your workout routine."

4. Take Your Supplements

Any task as a new mom can be daunting, so be gentle with getting back into the swing of self-care. "Start with simply taking your supplements with a big glass of water," Kelly urged. "As a breastfeeding mom, I'm prioritizing probiotics, a prenatal multivitamin, and omega-3s, because I know those nutrients are being passed on via breast milk."

5. Nuts . . . Keep You From Going Nuts

You might get stuck at the pediatrician, be forced to pull off the freeway to feed your hungry baby, or simply be running behind because leaving the house with a newborn is like a rocket launch, but packing healthy, shelf-stable snacks can keep you sane. "Pack nuts in your diaper bag to prevent needing to resort to unhealthy snacks or skipping meals," Kelly said. "Nuts contain protein, fat, and fiber to help you regulate hunger hormones and balance blood sugar. My favorites include walnuts, macadamia nuts, and marcona almonds."

I Won't Buy Presents For My Husband's Family, Because That's His Responsibility, Not Mine

Few things make me happier than Christmas shopping. In fact, I shop for the holidays all year round. Call me crazy, but I swear that I get better deals, I'm not battling crowds, and when November arrives, I am practically finished and can just sit back and enjoy the season. I buy for everyone: my husband, kids, parents, siblings, friends' kids, and dog, and I even stockpile for charity. But when it comes to my husband's family, he's on his own.

For years, we would alternate where we spent the holidays: one year with my family, the next with his. But no matter where we spent them, I would handle all of the shopping for both of our families. I took the time to find what I thought were the perfect presents and sent them to those we would be seeing for the holiday and those we wouldn't. I did this, happily, year after year. Then we had children of our own and quickly learned that his family takes an out of sight, out of mind approach to the holidays.

If someone had taken five minutes to make a phone call and wish our children a Merry Christmas, I would have sent a gift. Plus, if my husband wants to buy something for someone in his family, he can do it himself.

We spent our daughter's first Christmas with my husband's family. We were met with surprise by a few family members who didn't realize we were coming and had "forgotten" our daughter's gift at home. They apologized and promised to mail whatever it was they had supposedly forgotten (they didn't). At the time, we were so elated to be celebrating our daughter's first Christmas that it didn't matter who gave her a present. Besides, Santa had been more than generous to our then-8-month-old, and the last thing we needed was more stuff. We didn't sweat it. The following year, we spent Christmas with my family and, as usual, sent gifts to his side. Not a single person acknowledged receiving a gift from us, nor did anyone send anything to our daughter. And that's the year I decided I would no longer shop for or send gifts to my husband's family.

That was also the year we stopped traveling for the holidays because we both agreed it would mean more to have our children wake up on Christmas morning in their own home. After that, I remained steadfast in my decision to not shop for my husband's family. He was on the fence about it, but we ultimately agreed to wait and see if anyone acknowledged our children. If someone sent them a card or a gift, then we would send one in return. Hell, if someone had taken five minutes to make a phone call and wish our children a Merry Christmas, I would have sent a gift. Plus, if my husband wants to buy something for someone in his family, he can do it himself.

After a few weeks of waiting, guilt got the better of him and he went out at the last minute, purchased a stack of gift cards, and gave them to his mother to dole out on Christmas. Once again, no one sent so much as a text to say thank you. And no one acknowledged our children (our daughter had become a big sister since the last time we spent Christmas with my husband's family). Most of them have not even met our other children. I'm not sure what he'll do this year, but I do know I'll have no part in whatever it is.

Christmas isn't about presents. I just happen to love shopping, and I enjoy giving gifts. I don't expect anything in return, and I'm working hard to impart that same attitude to my children. They don't need more gifts, and not receiving anything from relatives they hardly know certainly isn't ruining anyone's holiday. It's knowing my husband and our children aren't even an afterthought for his family that breaks my heart. And it's watching them profess the importance of family all over social media that actually makes my blood boil. But maybe it's all for the best. The past few years have taught my husband some harsh lessons about his family, but they've also taught him that the people who put you first are the ones who matter the most.

Mom Writes Powerful Letter to the Doctor Who Said "Sorry!" When She Delivered a Baby With Down Syndrome

When Texas-based Amber Rojas gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with Down syndrome in July 2018, she immediately knew her daughter Amadeus was a blessing. Unfortunately, Amadeus's doctor - the individual who diagnosed her with Down syndrome - wasn't nearly as enthusiastic or supportive. Rather than letting her resentment fester, the mom of five wrote an open letter to the doctor on Instagram, and her forgiveness is incredibly powerful.

"Dear Doctor, You may not remember me or my daughter but I will never forget you, but I forgive you," she wrote. "You were the one who told me all the things she wouldn't do; but you never told me the things she could. You were the one that told me my daughter couldn't nurse because of her low tone and because of her heart defect, but what you don't know is that she exclusively breastfeed for four solid months. I even had to bring her to work with me because she didn't want anything else."

Although Amadeus was already well on her way to proving people wrong, her doctor was still extremely concerned with her ability to gain weight.

"You were the one that diagnosed her with Failure to Thrive and expressed your concerns of her gaining weight, but what you don't know is that she is now one of the bigger babies in our birth class and in two weeks is turning 1," Amber wrote. "You were the one who made the decision to give her a [nasogastric tube] because of your concerns and her weight gain causing a horrible oral aversion to the point that she couldn't even put her own hands in her mouth."

"You were the one that patted me on the shoulder and told me you were 'sorry!' Sorry that my daughter was diagnosed with T21."

Fortunately, Amadeus overcame the oral aversion and was able to eat on her own. But regardless, Amber admitted the doctor still made her feel guilty about her parenting ability.

"But what you don't know is that we overcome that and she eats everything now by mouth including being able to feed herself," she said. "You were the one that made me feel I wasn't good enough to handle a special needs baby being a mother of five, but what you didn't know is that she was put here for OUR special needs."

She added that one of the most painful memories was when her doctor apologized for her daughter's Down syndrome diagnosis: "You were the one that delivered my daughter's diagnosis. You were the one that patted me on the shoulder and told me you were 'sorry!' Sorry that my daughter was diagnosed with T21, but what you didn't tell me was that her diagnosis and our story would save lives."

Despite the fact that Amber felt unsupported in more than one way, she's opted to forgive her doctor for a simple reason: he or she didn't know her daughter yet.

"You were the one that saw her as a diagnosis and all we saw was our new precious daughter," she said. "Not once did you stop to congratulate me on my new born. So I forgive you. I forgive you because you didn't know her. You didn't know me and you didn't know what We were capable of."

People Are Shaming Gabrielle Union For Kissing Her Daughter on the Lips, So We Had a Pediatrician Weigh In

After Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade welcomed their beautiful daughter Kaavia into the world via surrogate in November, our news feeds have been full of tender moments of their family. But after posting a video of herself kissing Kaavia on the lips with the caption: "Kissing game. She's got my [heart] on a string," she's getting a lot of pushback from mom-shamers.

"Never kiss a baby on its lips, they [easily] get bacteria," wrote one woman. Another person chimed in to say, "Ahhhh didn't anyone tell you you shouldn't kiss a baby in the mouth? Even your own. She's beautiful though."

But rather than sit by the sidelines and watch her fans duke it out, Gabrielle responded to the negative commenters.

"Hey guys I appreciate all the concern about kisses on the mouth . . . I am blessed enough to have a nurse here with us while at work," wrote the 46-year-old mom, adding that, "Kaav is healthy and I don't even touch her without washing and sanitizing myself and everything and everyone that comes into contact with her."

"Kaav is healthy and I don't even touch her without washing and sanitizing myself and everything and everyone that comes into contact with her."

Not only does Gabrielle have a nurse on-site, she made it clear during an interview with Oprah for her upcoming TV special - Oprah at Home with Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade, & Their New Baby - that she's not taking any chances with Kaavia's health.

"No visits with sick folk and even all of Oprah's crew got whooping cough vaccinations and current on all vaccinations to be in our home," she said, adding that, "If you think I waited this long and went [through] all this to put my baby in harm's way . . . you got another thing coming."

While we don't support mom-shaming at all, the concern raised over the photo has people wondering if kissing an infant on the lips is really dangerous. We asked Dr. Jean Siri Moorjani, MD - a pediatrician at Arnold Palmer Hospital For Children in Florida and a mom of two - to weigh in on the matter.

"As a pediatrician, I know that young babies really do have immune systems that aren't that strong," said Dr. Moorjani, who explained that while it certainly makes sense to limit others' interactions with your infant, especially when it comes to kissing, it's also important be be mindful of how you're feeling as a parent. After all, germs are germs, whether they come from a parent or a great aunt.

So, it's true that kissing your own baby on the lips comes with risks. Dr. Moorjani gave a rare - but entirely possible - example of what happens when things go wrong. "If somebody has a cold sore that's caused by the herpes virus on their lip, they absolutely should not kiss babies on the lips because newborn babies can get very sick from that particular virus."

Dr. Moorjani also advised moms and dads to be especially wary during cold and flu season if their child is under 6 months old - the earliest age babies can receive flu shots - and they come down with a cold because "mom germs are still germs."

The bottom line? It's really up to the child's parents to decide what's best. "For some people, it's easier to say that newborn babies are off limits other than tickling their feet," said Dr. Moorjani. "There certainly is middle ground in this situation and it's mostly a common sense thing. I think the best thing doctors can do is provide information to moms. People are going to make their own informed choices."

Dear Candy Canes, as a Parent, I Seriously Hate You

Dear Candy Canes,

You know the famous tale about how the Grinch stole Christmas? Well, I think it was actually you. I mean, first of all, just look at you. You put on such a front. You're so nicely wrapped and packaged that no one would ever think you'd cause such misery. You hang so nicely from Christmas tree branches, over the tops of stockings, and are the perfect finishing touch to any holiday present. You smell good. You come in an assortment of colors - the traditional red and white peppermint is my personal favorite - and (mostly good) flavors. And you're, I'll admit, delicious. Yes, you are the quintessential holiday symbol and treat. But while you scream holiday cheer, you put parents everywhere into a state of madness. And I mean madness.

How many parents have found remnants of you in the most unusual spots in their homes? After a seemingly innocent trip to the mall to meet Santa Claus or a family gathering with generous aunts and uncles, your sweet treats get sucked on for a few minutes before they're dropped or forgotten. I can't tell you how many old, nasty pieces of you I've found in the back of our car during the holiday season (and in the months after). I basically have to pry you off my kids' car seats with pliers for crying out loud! I've found you in their beds (sneaky little stinkers) and the worst place of all, the dryer. Yes, somehow the remnants of you made it through the wash cycle and into the dryer, only to be smudged all over my son's jeans, ruining the rest of that load of laundry.

Thanks a lot.

Did I mention the stickiness? DID I?! Parents of toddlers everywhere loathe the site of you, you red-and-white-striped holiday cheer stealer. Instead of our sweet children calmly enjoying you as a treat, we're left chasing them around and wiping their fingers and mouths at all times making sure they don't touch Aunt Suzy's new white couch. And parents all know that having a daughter takes things to a whole different level. My daughter has gotten many of you caught in her hair. It takes forever to get you out without cutting her beautiful locks! So. Much. Screaming.

So, candy canes, while you may look nice, you definitely belong on the naughty list. You're a hindrance to our holiday cheer. No, you're a holiday cheer bandit. If you can somehow get a hold of all of your sticky behavior, maybe, just maybe, I'll let you enter my home again. But until then, you're staying the hell out of my kids' stockings, our Christmas tree, and my daughter's hair.

Every Busy Mom Needs to Print Out This Life-Saving Elf on the Shelf Cheat Sheet

Let's face it: keeping up with Elf on the Shelf is exhausting. On top of all the mayhem going on during the holidays, parents who choose to participate in the elf-inspired behavioral tactic are supposed to remember to move the elf every single day?! That's not exactly at the top of our priority lists, and thankfully, there's now a cheat sheet to make this task way easier. Parenting club Bounty shared an ingenious Elf on the Shelf cheat sheet in 2017 that does the thinking for you and tells you where to put that freakin' stress-inducing little creature each night (and regardless of 2017 being well and truly over, the calendar still works like a charm if you ignore either the dates or days of the week to make it work for the current yet). On the 21st day we make Elf hide in the Christmas tree? OK, sounds perfect.

Once you've committed to Elf on the Shelf at the beginning of December, there's no turning back - you've got to get really creative with your elf-hiding skills. If you just can't even deal with the thought of your schedule being interrupted by something as silly as an elf, print out this helpful Elf on the Shelf cheat sheet and say goodbye to stressing this year!

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, With Hair So Fine, This Tangled-Themed Wedding Is Absolutely Divine

If you have a child - or are just a child at heart - then you have probably seen the beloved Disney movie Tangled at least 10 times. The animated film, which is based on the Rapunzel fairy tale, has become a huge phenomenon in popular culture and inspired an art exhibition, birthday parties, and even a performance on Dancing With the Stars. Now, photographer Jennifer Roach has drawn from the movie as the inspiration behind her latest wedding shoot.

Jennifer explained why she chose to do a Tangled-styled wedding shoot, saying, "As far back as I can remember, I've been obsessed with Disney and the romantic fairy tales of the princesses. I decided to create a wedding that was inspired by Tangled with a bride model with a long blonde braid and flowers in her hair and a groom with a sack with a crown in it. All of the pieces came together beautifully to create a wedding that Rapunzel and Flynn Rider would have loved."

This gorgeous shoot took place in the Frazer Center in Atlanta. The bride wore an elegant white gown and her hair was done in a classic fishtail braid, just like Rapunzel in the movie. The groom looked sharp in a white button-down shirt with a blue vest and brown pants, which is an elevated version of Flynn Rider's look in the movie. The end result is a lovely wedding for our two favorite Tangled characters. Keep reading to see the marvelous photos from this shoot.

You'll Be Starry-Eyed Over This 1920s-Inspired Wedding - Complete With Showstopping Gown!

When Broadway actors Alysha and Cody decided to get married, they wanted their wedding to be out of this world - literally! That's right, this gorgeous couple decided to have a neon celestial-themed wedding that included a range of elements from the heavens. Alysha even wore a stunning gray gown with glittery embellishments that resembled the starry night sky. Here's what photographer David Perlman had to say about the inspiration behind the theme:

"Alysha and Cody's celestial wedding, full of moons and stars, was inspired by Alysha's dream dress by Hayley Paige. She knew she wanted a dove gray wedding dress, and she fell in love with her dress when she found it in a Google image search. After trying it on, she knew it was the one, and since it looked like a galaxy, she figured that was the theme for the wedding! She had always been obsessed with paper moons from the 1920s, so it was perfect."

Alysha even had a silver glitter eye and wore intricate star-shaped earrings to tie her galaxy-inspired look together. The decor included many neon signs, which added to the ambiance, and the pair had a large photo area that featured a giant crescent moon. They were married at the Green Building in Brooklyn, NY, and looked absolutely radiant.

This Christmas Brain-Teaser Is Deceptively Tricky - Can You Solve It?

I love a good brain-teaser, especially ones that challenge me to locate objects hidden in a cluttered picture à la those I Spy books I used to hoard and relentlessly scour back in the day. The latest search-and-find game to circulate the internet puts a fun holiday spin on the concept, challenging viewers to spot five turkeys in a chaotic Christmas scene. Designed by the folks over at Stay in Cornwall, the brain-teaser may sound like a piece of (fruit)cake, but it actually takes most people between three and four minutes to successfully complete.

Despite the solid I Spy track record I maintained during my childhood, these sneaky birds had me stumped, as I could personally only find four before caving and looking at the solution. Can't find that fifth hidden turkey in the midst of the festive scene? Check out the solution ahead to see 'em circled in pink, and then take a stab at this emoji brain-teaser if you're really in the mood to test your brainpower.

Roses Are Red, Marriage Is Golden, but a Rose Gold-Themed Wedding Will Have Your Heart Stolen

Why stop at a rose gold ring when you can have a rose gold wedding? In this gorgeous wedding shoot, the color is not just an embellishment, but the core theme of the entire styled shoot. These stunning photos were the product of photographer Chloe Dam's creativity, who said, "This styled wedding was inspired by the 'it' color rose gold. In today's culture, rose gold is on everything from cell phones to watches. We wanted to make sure rose gold had its own lane in the wedding industry as well!"

This shoot took place at Station House in St Petersburg, FL, on a beautiful day where the natural lighting perfectly accentuated the rose and metallic tones of the decor. Some of the highlights from the shoot were the classic three-tired cake with a twist of modern geometric shapes, an elegantly crafted bouquet that featured an array of roses and peonies, the bride's lovely lace mermaid dress, and the splendid sequined table set-up. "The tablescape was so romantic and fresh," said Chloe. "I adored the special touches, like the pink macarons and the rose gold dinnerware. All of the colors paired perfectly together to create a glamorous fine dining experience." Make sure to check out the photos for more rose gold details!

Meet the 30 Women - and 1 Dog - Who Will Be Competing For Colton's Heart on The Bachelor

The contestants for Colton Underwood's season of The Bachelor have finally been unveiled! The first couple were introduced during Colton's interview with Ellen DeGeneres, when she surprised the 26-year-old former football player by revealing three of the women who will be vying for his heart in season 23: Katie, Annie, and Sydney. The women played a game of "Know or Go," answering a handful of the talk-show host's questions until one lucky bachelorette, Annie, was crowned the winner and got a hug from Colton.

The remaining women were announced by Chris Harrison on Thursday, Dec. 6, and the 30 women include a dog rescuer, a former Miss North Carolina and Miss Alabama, and Lucy the Dog (we're rooting for her, to be honest). After coming in fourth on Becca's season, Colton appeared on Bachelor in Paradise and seemed to be very much in love with Tia Booth, which was a contributing factor in why Becca sent him home. But then on the Sept. 3 episode of the spinoff, he broke it off with Tia and both stars left paradise before the finale.

The football player started his own charity, the Colton Underwood Legacy Foundation, and in addition to dating Becca and Tia, he's also been in a relationship with Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman. One of the big things to remember about Colton's time on Becca's season - other than the awkward love triangle with Tia - was the fact he is still a virgin. He told Becca he was not waiting for marriage but for the right person. We can already imagine the field day The Bachelor's producers will have with that storyline during his Fantasy Suite episodes . . .

Does it seem like Colton is in a good place to find love? Hopefully you - and the following 30 women - think so, because there's a whole lot more of him headed our way in 2019. Meet the group of women who will be vying for Colton's love when the show premieres in January.

Now That Vice Is a Golden Globe Nominee, You Need to See This Crazy Cast

The cast for Vice isn't just incredibly stacked - it's actually damn near perfect. The upcoming dramedy will offer a look into the career and personal life of former Vice President Dick Cheney, a figure who proved himself to be both controversial and cunning during his eight-year run in office. The movie is set to premiere on Christmas Day, and from the trailer alone, we have a feeling it's going to live up to all of those Golden Globe Award nominations it's already earned. Check out the gallery to see why we think the casting alone deserves an award.

If You Don't Know John David Washington's Famous Dad, We Can't Help You

If you're wondering why John David Washington looks so familiar, it might just be because the BlacKkKlansman star looks a whole lot like his famous dad, Denzel Washington. The 34-year-old actor was formerly a professional football running back, but after an injury, John David decided to shift to a career in acting (hello, Ballers), and we're so glad he did.

Director Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman tells the true story of a KKK infiltration by a black undercover police officer, and the film has earned four 2019 Golden Globe nominations, including best actor for John David's portrayal of Ron Stallworth. It just so happens that 30 years ago, Denzel also became a first-time Golden Globe nominee in the same drama category for his performance in Cry Freedom. Get used to hearing his name, because we have a feeling Denzel's son is just getting started with his career. Check out the gallery to see just how sweet this father-and-son duo looks together.

Exactly How Many Major Awards Bradley Cooper Has Won in His Career

Golden Globe nominations are out, starting off award season with a bang, and as expected, A Star Is Born came out of nomination morning looking very good indeed - and so did its director and leading man, Bradley Cooper. Not only did Cooper receive a nomination for his acting work in the movie, but he also was nominated for directing the film and, as a producer, shared in the movie's overall nomination for best motion picture (drama). These nominations aren't even close to the first ones Cooper has been honored with.

Up until this year, however, Cooper's nominations were only in acting categories - not that those were anything to look down on! In 2013, he received best leading actor nominations for his role in Silver Linings Playbook from both the Golden Globes and the Oscars. He repeated this double-dose of award buzz with supporting actor nominations the very next year for American Hustle. The latter movie also earned him a Screen Actors Guild award when the ensemble won the award for outstanding performance by a cast.

If the Golden Globes (and early critical buzz) are any indicator, Cooper is on his way to yet another fantastic award season with A Star Is Born. And this time, his chances are even better, with roles in front of the camera and behind the scenes, too.
