Year after year, Disneyland ups its holiday treat game, and 2018's offerings are cuter and more tasty than ever. From boozy cookie shots at Disney's Grand Californian to sweet additions to the park's churro selection and savory delights at the Disney Festival of the Holidays at California Adventure, there's an edible indulgence for food fans of all kinds.
If you're wondering what to prioritize, we spoke with Nubia Renteria, pastry sous chef at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, who shared some of her picks. Her favorite treat this year: the gingerbread funnel cake churro fries. "They're amazing," she told POPSUGAR. "They're hot, they're crispy, and what is there not to love about caramel sauce and hot funnel cake fries?" Agreed.
While we're suckers for all the sweet goodies, there are also some seriously delicious savory dishes at the holiday food festival at California Adventure. "I think the big one for me, especially being Hispanic, is this version of pozole that we have this year at Festival of the Holidays," Renteria said. "You're used to seeing pozole as a soup, in a broth with hominy, so what we did this year is it's a corn cake, and we topped it with a red chile rojo, a beef chili. It's really good; you have the same condiments as you would in a pozole, but it's just in a totally new, modern, different form." Salivating yet?

I've Been Obsessed With This $13 Mascara For Months, and It's Finally Coming to America
I get a lot of questions about my lashes and the mascara I use; it tends to come with the territory when you cover beauty products. People actually start by asking if I have lash extensions, and when I explain it's just the mascara, they light up. The good news? My current favorite is from a mass brand. Then I have to gently let them down: unfortunately, the product isn't available in America.

Meet your new mascara obsession: L'Oréal Paris Unlimited Lash Lengthening and Lifting Mascara ($13). (I wish the name meant "unlimited" in terms of expiration, because I'm nearing the end of my bottle.) I was in Paris for Fashion Week with the brand, and Unlimited was part of my welcome bag, which included this Paris-only offering. Thankfully, the brand is launching the product in America come January.
As a devoted Voluminous and Lash Paradise fan, I had high hopes for Unlimited when I first gave it a go. It delivered. Initially, I was intrigued by the bottle. It's not a typical tube; it's not square or circular. "It looks like a buoy . . . you know, in the ocean. Or an inflatable punching bag," my boyfriend said when I asked him to describe the shape. He's not wrong. (Don't tell him I said that, thanks.) If it were glass, it might look like a gorgeous bottle for a fragrance. The real point of difference, though, is the wand, which actually changes angles for more precision when you apply. You can use it straight or click it into a 45-degree angle, which is meant to help you get to the root of your lashes better.
For me, I barely change the position of the wand because I find I can get to the root easily without doing so, but this extra addition can make your mascara application a lot better. I tend not to love rubber or silicone applicators because I feel they don't make the lashes look light and fluffy. Unlimited, however, separates them, lengthens, and volumizes without weighing them down. It's a creamy formula that coats the lashes without lumping them together and with no flakes. Because what's worse than a flake, in both mascara and your social life?

I Tried to Quit My Smartphone Addiction and (Spoiler Alert) Failed Miserably
I need rehab. Actual, real-life, smartphone rehab. Listen, I knew I was addicted to my smartphone before I tried to go smartphone-free for one week, but I didn't know how addicted I was. Now that I know, I'm actually scared for myself and, dare I say, society as a whole.
Shortly after my daughter was born, I actually attempted this digital detox song and dance. Why? I caught myself checking my phone while I was driving my precious cargo in the car. I felt guilty whenever she saw me scrolling during playtime. I found myself taking drastic measures like actually hiding my phone just to stay in the present moment. I started to think that I had a real problem. Turns out that I do.
According to my phone's data, I spend an average of four hours and 23 minutes on my phone per day! It's clear that I need to get clean. So, I decided to take on the difficult, but not impossible, task of turning off all of my cellular data and WiFi dialing. I was determined to use my phone as 1998 intended - make calls, take calls, and maybe store a photo here and there. I want to be clear: this meant no music, no Google Maps, no email, no social media, no apps, nothing for one whole week!
Let me just tell you that this seemingly innocent experiment made with the intention of being more present in those picture-perfect moments (as opposed to ruining them by taking actual pictures) really opened my eyes to the severity of my smartphone addiction.

If you want to bring the Force to your nuptials, look no further than Crystal and Jonathan's gorgeous Star Wars-themed wedding for inspiration. The two first met while they were students at Purdue University, which is why the campus holds a great deal of sentimental value to the pair. They fittingly decided to have their wedding at the Purdue Memorial Union and embellished the place with decor inspired by their favorite film franchise. "Their reception was Star Wars-themed and it was amazing! They made most of the decorations and each table's centerpiece was a different world from Star Wars. Crystal hand made all of the bouquets with origami flowers and lightsaber handles," said Jasmine Norris-Dixson, the woman behind the camera who captured the happy moments from the wedding. "Also, the Star Wars theme was a surprise for all their guests."
The pair had so many more layers of unique ideas catered to their love story. For instance, instead of a traditional layered cake, they opted for a delicious cookie cake with the phrase, "'Til the Death Star do we part" written in frosting on it. The newlyweds explained their decision, saying: "We got Insomnia Cookies instead of a big fancy cake. 4 Survival Tips For LGBTQ+ Folks Heading Home For the Holidays
Going home for the holidays and being with the family can be stressful for many people, but it can be even tougher for LGBTQIA+ folks. While you may be totally comfortable with who you are and have worked hard to be mature and have a sense of self-worth, dealing with certain family members may result in feelings of disappoint and rejection. Family members who have a lack of understanding or aren't accepting can be really difficult to handle, especially considering they are the people who are supposed to love you the most. Although tensions may be running high and there are certain conversations you may be dreading, these four tips can relieve you of some the stressful situations you find may yourself in.
1. Set Aside Time For Self-Care
This may sound obvious, but practicing self-care is one of the most important things you can do for yourself year round, and especially during the holidays. As LGBTQ+ poet and cultural icon Audre Lorde famously wrote, "Caring for myself is not self-indulgence; it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare." It can be as simple as reading a book, taking a walk, meditating, having a glass of wine, or just putting time aside for you to do things that make yourself feel good.
When you're home, this might be easiest thing to do, but one option could be to stay in your room a bit longer so you are able to have adequate space. You could also offer to run an errand so you can get some along time and even do something else for yourself while you are out so you can feel ready to face the world. During the holidays, it may be tough to get that "you time" in, but make it a point to give yourself the care you need.
While it may be important for your family to understand you, you do not have to defend your choices or who you are.
2. Set Personal Boundaries
Setting boundaries is a crucial aspect of healthy relationships with anyone. When it comes to your family, though, setting those boundaries can sometimes be more difficult. Because they are family, they may feel that you owe them or they are entitled to an explanation for where you are in life, the current relationship you are in, or about your sexual or gender identity. The fact of the matter is, you don't owe them that. While it may be important for your family to understand you, you do not have to defend your choices or who you are. If you find yourself getting into a stressful conversation over the holiday dinner table about a partner, your sexual or gender identity, or another topic you don't want to address, simply change the subject. If Aunt Helen starts to grill you about your sleeping arrangements with your significant other over the holidays, for example, commenting on how delicious the food is or bringing up a previous happy memory from another holiday will often be just enough of a shift to change the conversation and hopefully help you get your holiday back on track.
If you are still uncomfortable, it may be helpful to take that person aside later on when your guests have left and express how you feel. Using language like "I felt that when you brought up x it was inappropriate and made me feel uncomfortable" can help make the conversation go more smoothly; approaching the interaction calmly and respectfully can help illustrate the point and highlight the boundary you are trying to set.
3. Anticipate Some of the Touchy Topics That May Come Up
One part of making the trip home may be mentally preparing yourself for potentially awkward or upsetting conversations. If Uncle Bob is a conservative Republican who has posted on Facebook in support of Donald Trump's ban on transgender individuals in the military, anticipating some of the things that that may come up during your trip home for the holidays can help better prepare you to respond accordingly - or not at all. Trying to visualize some of the conversations that may take place and having an answer prepared or simply remembering to take deep breaths can help you to keep your cool. Although you may be all about engaging in discourse, you probably don't want to feel like you have to defend your identity, beliefs, and choices when you are simply trying to enjoy a piece of pumpkin pie.
