This Common Disease Could Be the Reason You're So Anxious, and Treating It Can Help
Anxiety can be debilitating. After all, it's difficult to manage your day-to-day when you spend so much of your time (and energy) getting sucked into negative thoughts, spinning in a constant hamster wheel of worry. While many factors contribute to anxiety, your fretful state could be traced back to a thyroid disorder, particularly hyperthyroidism.
The Thyroid-Brain Connection
Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid produces too much of the hormone thyroxine. Thyroxine works with other thyroid hormones to control a number of functions, including metabolism and digestion. When your thyroid is overactive, and releases too much thyroxine into the body, you might experience weight loss - even as your appetite increases - or feel hot and sweaty, among other physical symptoms.
But hyperthyroidism can also alter your brain and mood. "There are receptors for the thyroid hormone in the brain as well as the body," Monica Starkman, MD, associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical School, told POPSUGAR. "The effects on the brain due to excess thyroid hormones can be unusual and persistent nervousness, restlessness, irritability, and anxiety."
Hyperthyroidism is most often caused by an autoimmune disease called Grave's disease, but thyroiditis - a condition in which the thyroid becomes inflamed for no apparent reason - is common in women who have recently given birth. These women will often have tons of energy after delivering the baby, and may even be quick to lose weight because they're in a transient hyperthyroid state, explained Carly Snyder, MD, who specializes in reproductive psychiatry. But eventually, the thyroid burns out, leading to an underactive condition known as hypothyroidism. "Mood plummets, and the mother may be irritable and sad," Dr. Snyder said. "She may gain some weight back, and feel tired or foggy." Naturally, this means that women with postpartum thyroiditis are at an increased risk for postpartum depression.
While it's less common, hypothyroidism can also cause anxiety, especially among women. A study published in the Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism found that, out of 100 patients who suffered from hypothyroidism, 70 percent of men reported experiencing depression, while more than 92 percent of women reported feeling anxious.
When to See the Doctor
If you suffer from anxiety or depression or both, it's important to pay attention to how your body is feeling separate from your mood. "If someone has the physical symptoms [of a thyroid disorder], as well as anxiety, that's a real clue the thyroid may be involved," Dr. Starkman said. "Even if not, some physicians and psychiatrists will want to do a blood test first with patients who have anxiety to see if the thyroid plays a part." If it does, it's important to treat the underlying problem.
Here's How Rapidly You Start to Lose Muscle Once You Stop Lifting Weights
My first gym session after a trip to Barcelona, where the only exercise I did was walking (and eating paella), was a struggle. The barbell I used to pick up with ease suddenly felt way heavier. (I actually triple checked to make sure I hadn't accidentally grabbed the wrong barbell - nope.) You may know the feeling. Returning to the gym after an extended break can be brutal.
"Unfortunately, exercise is truly 'use it or lose it.' If you stop strength training, you'll likely notice decreased strength (making it harder to perform daily activities), energy loss, impaired balance, and weight gain in as little as 3-4 weeks," Meghan Nagel, manager of fitness programming at Virtual Health Partners, told POPSUGAR. "Your muscles may also feel less firm and 'toned' when you stop lifting." (That sound you hear is me screaming "whyyyyy?" into the weight room abyss.)
To find out what happens to your body when you stop strength training, POPSUGAR spoke to Nagel and Dr. Jacqueline Schaffer, board-certified MD, bestselling author of Irresistible You, and founder of Schique Skincare. Here's what they had to say.

1 piece Ezekiel toast
1/2 an avocado
1 honey crisp appleHigher cal meal:
4 eggs + 2 egg whites scrambled

1 honey crisp apple
2 tbsp peanut butter

2018's Top Dog Names Have 1 Clear Thing in Common: They're Very Human
Every year, it seems people get more and more creative with their pets' names. Or maybe it's just that they're looking toward their everyday lives for inspiration. In 2018, that seemed to be the case, with a vast majority of the most popular dog names being ones typically given to humans. Sparky, Spot, and Rover are so 2008.
In a list put together by Rover, all of this year's most popular dog names are names of people you might know, whether it's your neighbor, Charlie, or your former classmate, Lucy. Kate Jaffe, a dog-name curator for Rover, told NPR, "Increasingly, dogs are really the family you choose, and because we have this tight bond with our dogs and they really are a part of our family, it's not surprising to see that the majority of dogs names are human."
You can see the top 10 dog names of the year for both males and females below, and you can find a more extensive list of names and trends on Rover.

The Kardashians Got Together For the Perfect "Last Minute" Family Christmas Card
This year's Kardashian family Christmas card is here. The sweet photo - which was shared by both Khloé and Kim on Dec. 24 - features Kourtney, Khloé, Kim, and Kylie with their children and brother Rob's daughter, Dream. The family is all smiles while dressed in white (though Khloé added some glam with a gold crown) and settled onto a matching white couch. Anyone who's ever taken a photo with children before has to applaud their ability to wrangle all nine kids and get them to sit still long enough to capture that photo!
Though the snap is undeniably precious, it's missing several key players, including Kendall Jenner, Kanye West, Travis Scott, Tristan Thompson, Rob Kardashian, and of course, Kris Jenner. According to Kim, the entire photo shoot was "last minute" due to constantly changing schedules, and they got as many relatives as possible in the shot. "This year we waited until the last minute to do a card," Kim explained on Twitter. "Schedules were changing, my husband was in and out of town. But the day of this card last minute realized we were all together so we had all of our kids come meet us."
Considering hectic schedules and fraught photo shoots is what had fans sure there wouldn't be a card from the family after last year's epic card reveal, it's nice to see the Kardashian clan was able to pull this one together!
Who Plays Dr. Lapham in Bird Box? Here's Why You Recognize Her
Bird Box is Netflix's current thriller du jour, which has fans of actress Parminder Nagra craving a rewatch of her iconic 2002 hit, Bend It Like Beckham.
In Bird Box, the 43-year-old British star plays Dr. Lapham, the ob-gyn of Malorie, played by Sandra Bullock. Although the role is relatively small, Dr. Lapham's character appears at two important milestones in Malorie's life: first when she's a reluctant mother and later when she finally embraces her maternal instincts. But this isn't the first time Nagra has popped up in a Netflix property this year.

When season two of the streaming giant's controversial teen drama 13 Reasons Why premiered in May, audiences realized that a new actress had been brought in to play Liberty High School's guidance counselor, replacing Derek Luke's Kevin Porter, who is fired at the end of season one.
Of course, to anyone who's seen Bend It Like Beckham, her face was a welcome surprise and yet another reminder that the creative casting behind the adult actors in the show have previously starred in other well-known high school dramas.

Bend It Like Beckham's legacy is one that Nagra looks back on fondly, which she touched on during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "I think people love a story about an underdog," she said. "Somebody who has to struggle and is going up against everybody else's version of what they think that person should be."
After starring in the empowering coming-of-age soccer flick, Nagra went on to appear in Ella Enchanted, Amazon's Fortitude, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and NBC's The Blacklist. If you're a fan of ER, then you likely also recognize her for her six-season arc as Dr. Neela Rasgotra, who holds the record of being the medical series's longest-running character.

If Netflix ever decides to make a sequel to Bird Box, let's hope it figures out a way to make sure Nagra is a part of it. In the meantime, we'll be keeping our fingers crossed that she'll reprise her role in 13 Reasons Why season three, which is due out in 2019, as well as her upcoming appearance in the romantic drama Five Feet Apart.
These 28 Hilarious Aquaman Memes Are a Real Mood
Not only has the one true king risen, but so too has a tidal wave of hilarious memes. Thanks, Aquaman!
The latest entry into the DCEU, directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa as the titular hero, arrived in theaters on Thursday. Unsurprisingly, the internet has already been hard at work creating a batch of truly incredible memes about the film, from nods to Mera's favorite flowery snack to Aquaman/SpongeBob SquarePants crossovers. (And before you ask, yes - there are a few references to Pitbull's, um, interesting "Africa" cover, too.) We are blessed, no?
See them all ahead, and once you've caught your breath from laughing, check out Twitter and Tumblr's equally epic response to the Aquaman movie poster.
Gal Gadot Says "Words Cannot Describe" Wonder Woman Sequel in Emotional Instagram Post
Count your blessings this holiday season, because Gal Gadot just gave us a behind-the-scenes account of filming Wonder Woman 1984, and it sounds pretty freakin' great.
The sequel isn't due out until June 5, 2020, but it seems production has officially wrapped. Gadot shared a series of cute, candid photos of her and director Patty Jenkins on the set via Instagram, including one shot that seems to be in the same '80s-tastic mall from that glorious Chris Pine photo the studio released back in June. After thanking the film's fearless leader and the tireless dedication of crew members, Gadot describes the follow-up to her critically-acclaimed superhero flick as "so demanding and challenging." Of course, she also notes that they "all came and did our very best every take, every day, putting our all out there and I'm so proud."
See Gadot's full caption below, but be warned: it might make you a little emotional.
"We did it. Again!! And as much as the first time shooting Wonder Woman was amazing, this time was even more unique and special.. We shot in 4 very different locations in 3 countries, and I'm so soooo proud of the almost 1000 crew members who came to set every day, giving everything they have into our movie.
Couldn't ask for better partners on this . . . I'm so lucky to have the one and only Patty Jenkins, as my director. She always has our backs, she gives us the wings to dare, and everyday she helped us find the most creative version of ourselves . . . I am so grateful to call her my friend. And to our AMAZINGly talented cast who made every day enjoyable and fun, thank you!
Honestly . . . Words cannot describe this experience . . . This journey was so demanding and challenging but we all came and did our very best every take, every day, putting our all out there and I'm so proud . . . Thank you, universe, for this opportunity. I love this character. And thank you to all of you for being the best fans in the world. It was you that made me push myself every day.
I'm so happy and excited, can't wait to share it with you in 2020!"
Penn Badgley Criticizes "Privileged-Ass White" Stars For Taking Roles From Marginalized Actors
It's a Hollywood tale as old as time at this point: a story about a marginalized individual is adapted as a film or TV series, but the main character is inevitably, and disappointingly, played by a white performer.
Examples include the 2016 backlash to Scarlett Johansson's starring role in Ghost in the Shell, in which she plays an Asian character - and again in 2018, when Johansson announced she'd be adapting and starring in a film titled Rub & Tug, which follows crime boss Dante "Tex" Gill, a transman who operated massage parlors and prostitution rings in Pittsburgh in the 1970s (she, a cisgender woman, would be playing Tex). Jack Whitehall, a straight man, also faced criticism this year when he was cast to play Disney's first openly gay character in Jungle Cruise.
Now, Gossip Girl alum Penn Badgley is calling out the privileged white stars who he says shouldn't be accepting these roles in the first place; instead, he argues, let them be played by actors from marginalized communities.
"In reality, we have basically, like, privileged-ass white people playing everybody, and so we need to stop that," Badgley told UK outlet PinkNews on Thursday. "If anybody exists at any kind of intersection of oppression beyond the box of white male, I'd say let's make f*cking sure that they're being represented by the people who have lived this experience [and] not have people who haven't lived the experience portraying them. Because then, at the end of the day, you're getting a real portrayal."
PinkNews then asked Badgley if gay and trans actors should play gay and trans roles on screen, to which he noted that in a perfect world free of racism and homophobia, any actor would play any role. "But that's not the world we live in," he explained. "We live in a world that does not recognize virtually anyone outside of the white male or the beautiful white woman who has to be an object of desire and affection."
The 32-year-old You star's comments are reminiscent of Darren Criss's recent conversation with Bustle, to which he told he would no longer be accepting queer roles like the ones he's played in American Crime Story and Glee.
"There are certain [queer] roles that I'll see that are just wonderful," Criss said. "But I want to make sure I won't be another straight boy taking a gay man's role."
The Stranger Things Cast Got Together to Wrap Presents, and Things Got WAY Out of Hand
To celebrate the holidays, Netflix recruited the cast of Stranger Things for a special little project. The whole crew of kids - that's Millie Bobbie Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, and Sadie Sink - got together and wrapped presents for Stranger Things superfans all over the world. It's safe to say things quickly got out of hand: poorly wrapped presents, face-tape nightmares, and even some of the ever-popular dance move, flossing.
The kids all agreed who's best at wrapping presents: Sink! It's funny, because she's the show's resident tomboy, a testament to her supreme character work. Then there's Brown, who said the best "wrapper" is Cardi B. Good one! If anything, the gaggle of gigglers has only made us more excited for the show's third season, which has been pushed to Summer 2019. Anyway, please leave me be, I need to obsess over those episode titles some more.

Will There Be a Bird Box Sequel? Here Are 4 Ways the Story Could Continue
Warning: spoilers for the ending of Bird Box ahead!
Netflix's latest star-studded, big-budget film, Bird Box, has finally arrived, igniting plenty of new mysteries for audiences to theorize about.
The dystopian thriller is based on Josh Malerman's novel of the same name and stars Sandra Bullock as Malorie, a pregnant woman trapped in a sprawling California home with a handful of other survivors in the midst of a postapocalyptic event that's wiped out most of the rest of the earth's population. A mysterious, invisible entity descends upon the world one day, causing people to commit suicide in grisly fashion once seen. Over the course of the hour and change that Malorie fights for her life, as well as the lives of her two young children, we hear the monster and see the effects of the monster's destruction and all the ways survivors are forced to cope with their horrifying new reality. But the monster, whatever it is, remains invisible to the naked eye.
About halfway through the film, a new threat emerges: homicidal people who are driven crazy by the evil entity are somehow able to avoid its suicidal urges and, in turn, dedicate their lives to forcing other unaffected survivors to "look." Malorie realizes her only option is to make a perilous three-day journey down a treacherous river to a rumored safe haven. Of course, to do so, she and her two nameless kids have to stay blindfolded the entire time. Not exactly a chill tubing trip, you know?
Fortunately, Malorie is able to complete the journey with both children intact, ending up at a former school for the blind where many people have taken refuge from the invisible monster lurking outside. The story wraps up with Malorie finally accepting her maternal instincts, bestowing names upon the boy and girl - Olympia and Tom - and presumably living happily ever after. But does the happy ending open the door for a sequel?
Since Bird Box has only just come out, Netflix has remained mum on the topic of a sequel, at least so far. The book upon which the film is based also doesn't have a sequel - Malerman instead followed up Bird Box with an unrelated novel, Black Mad Wheel, about a malevolent sound plaguing the human race. In case you want a sequel to Bird Box as much as we do, we went ahead and dreamed up three ways the story could continue, ahead.

Here are Bella's 50 sexiest pics of all time (and 50 reasons why The Weeknd is the luckiest guy alive).
22 Shirtless Moments That Had Us Fanning Our Faces and Clutching Our Pearls in 2018
When partaking in a TV show or movie, I'd argue it's pretty much always a nice treat to see a set of abs and a nice chest. (There are exceptions, but, you know.) And as luck would have it, we got our fair share of treats in 2018! Black Panther delivered a whole treasure trove of musculature early on in the year, but late additions like Alex Landi's sizzling Grey's Anatomy debut and Jason Momoa's near-perfect Aquaman physique kept the momentum up through all of the 12 months. It's safe to say we're satiated. But, you know, if you need a few extra sips of all the sexiness, we've decided to compile some glorious 2018 shirtless moments right here for you.
Here's Why Tyrion Will Win the Iron Throne on Game of Thrones
With White Walkers practically knocking on King's Landing's door, the fight for control over Westeros almost seems like a nonissue. But if the latest Game of Thrones teaser illustrates anything, it's that the battle in the North is only part of the story's final chapter. The matter of who will sit on the Iron Throne remains in play, and although the show has gone to great lengths to set either Daenerys or Jon Snow up as the future leader of Westeros, those two lovers appear to be doomed. Having either (or both) of the Targaryen heirs end up running the Seven Kingdoms feels far too obvious for a show that loves its twists - not to mention the writers' gift for playing the long game. This is partially why we believe Tyrion Lannister is going to be the person who wins the figurative game of thrones.
As Quora user Murali Vallimanalan points out in their breakdown of why Tyrion could win the Iron Throne, there is a fan theory that suggests the youngest Lannister is actually the Mad King's son (and Daenerys's brother). However, Tyrion doesn't need to be a secret Targaryen in order to take the throne. The show's been laying the groundwork for him to become king since the story began. Look back at everything he's accomplished so far: King's Landing was at its most peaceful after Robert's fall in season two when Tyrion is in charge, he's the man who lead the charge in the Battle of Blackwater, and he cultivated a sense of trust among his allies like Podrick and Bronn. Tyrion consistently puts the realm first, not out of a desire for power - as his sister does - but because he knows what it means to be overlooked and deemed unimportant, just as the small folk often feel when their basic needs are disregarded during times of war.
Tyrion also possesses the necessary skills to lead. He's fair-minded, a tactical thinker, and a gifted politician. By comparison, Daenerys leads with force, demanding the Tarlys bend the knee or die. She's excellent at liberating people, but she's shown no aptitude at making the necessary political decisions to help them transition into free lives in a peaceful society. Sadly, she tends to leave chaos in her wake in pursuit of her rightful place on the throne. Meanwhile, Jon is an excellent warrior, but he's not a wise king. Wise kings don't bend the knee without consulting their people. Like Daenerys, he fails to listen to council or think before he acts.
Since this is Game of Thrones that we're talking about, the best candidate isn't guaranteed to be the one who ultimately wins the game, but there are hints that Tyrion is maneuvering the necessary pieces into place to take the throne. Remember that worried look he gives the camera as he watches Jon enter Daenerys's room in the season seven finale? I doubt that look has anything to do with jealousy, and everything to do with a dawning realization that neither Daenerys nor Jon is going to listen to his advice if they have one another. That's bad news for Westeros, and Tyrion knows it.
Tyrion is the ultimate chess player, and he's maneuvered his way across the board into a position of true power. He is still the Hand of the Queen, and with another theory going around that he may have directed Cersei to lie about sending her troops North in order to keep Jon and Daenerys's focus on winning the war against the Night King, Tyrion may be working on staging a coup. He'll wait until the Night King is defeated, of course, but given everything he knows about how the Mother of Dragons leads, he may very well betray her before the show ends. (That's if he hasn't done it already.) That sets up an endgame where Tyrion and Cersei face off, rather than Daenerys and Cersei, and that's a battle that would be grounded in a much richer sense of character and history.
If Jon and Daenerys fall in battle, the remaining players on the board will likely back Tyrion as king. Sansa will remember his kindness, Jaime is wise enough to know his brother is a better candidate to lead than their sister, and while in the North he will no doubt continue to cultivate strong bonds with the small folk. By the time the war with the dead ends, Tyrion is going to look like the only viable candidate to lead - even if he's not a Targaryen. The best part is, if he does become king, it will prove that Westeros is finally ready for progress - a leader will not be determined by blood or brute strength, but rather through wisdom. And as the character who most embodies the truth that cleverness and smarts matters more than blood or skill with a sword, Tyrion's win would be the most fitting end for the series, and the best possible outcome for the Seven Kingdoms.
10 Sexy Christmas Videos That Belong on Santa's Naughty List
We get it. When we think of the holidays, the word "sexy" rarely comes to mind. Between the presents, the decadent food, and the festive tunes, anything holiday-related usually makes us feel warm and fuzzy, not hot and steamy. However, there are a handful of Christmas music videos out there that may beg to differ. Case in point: Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and Destiny's Child's "8 Days of Christmas" videos. While these videos may not be as steamy as, let's say, Nicki Minaj's, something tells us Santa Claus would think twice about putting them on his nice list.

OK, So What's the Deal With the "Monster" in Bird Box? Let's Discuss
Warning: Spoilers for Bird Box ahead!
Bird Box is one of the more confounding horror movies of recent memory, in that its monster - or monsters, plural . . . maybe? I'm still figuring it out - never actually reveals itself. Over the course of the hour-and-change that our heroine, Malorie (Sandra Bullock), fights for her life, as well as the lives of her two young children, we hear the monster and see the effects of the monster's destruction, plus all the ways survivors are forced to cope with their horrifying new reality. But the monster, whatever it is, remains invisible.
In Netflix's official summary of the film, the monster is referred to as "a mysterious force" that "decimates the world's population." The so-called entity - I'm actually going to take a page out of Star Wars' book and dub it the Force from here on out - does so by making whoever lays eyes on it commit suicide pretty much instantaneously in the most graphic way they can manage (caving their head in on the corner of a desk, walking in front of a dump truck, lighting themselves on fire, etc.). The only way Malorie and her fellow survivors are able to escape its influence is by making their way through the world blindfolded.
But when a new threat emerges - homicidal people who are driven crazy by the evil Force, but who somehow avoid its suicidal urges - Malorie realizes her only option is to make a perilous three-day journey down a treacherous river to a rumored safe haven. Of course, to do so, she and her kids have to stay blindfolded the entire time.
The film, which is like a cross between A Quiet Place and The Happening (an interesting mix, to say the least), also stars Sarah Paulson and John Malkovich, and is now streaming on Netflix. Whether you've already seen it and still have questions, or would rather go in with a little background on this monster/force/entity/whatever, let me enlighten you.
So, You're Saying the Force Is Invisible?
Well, yes. Technically. It can physically move things, or at least has a strong enough energy pulsing around it that it can blow leaves off the ground (like wind) and create a static effect with human hair, as we see in a later scene with Malorie's adopted, nameless daughter. It also seems to have a bit of a shadow whenever it sweeps by windows. By the end of the film, we discover that the Force can also mimic human voices to trick people into opening their eyes and seeing whatever it is. There are also instances of the Force being strong enough that it bangs on the roof of a car (the car's sensors also beep when the Force gets close), and it pushes Malorie and her kids around in a tense scene.
If It's Not Truly Invisible, What Do You See When It Reveals Itself to You?
We never witness what others see, but there are a few clues that suggest it either presents itself to someone as their ultimate sadness or fear. For instance, after Malorie's sister, Jessica (Paulson), sees it while driving, her eyes immediately flood with tears and she crashes the car, before limping out in front of a truck to end her life. We see something similar happen to the wife of Malkovich's character, Douglas, when she dies running outside to help a wounded, pregnant Malorie. "Mom?" she asks, staring at empty air, before her eyes glaze over - after a person "sees" the Force, their eyes blossom into a creepy, bloodshot kaleidoscope of oranges and browns - and she gets inside a burning car, igniting immediately. Douglas later tells Malorie that her mother has been dead for years.
What If You Look at the Force Through a Video Camera, iPhone Camera, or TV Screen?
Still a big ol' bowl of murderous nope! The survivors in the film actually try this trick, with BD Wong tying himself to a computer chair and attempting to get a glimpse of what's outside by looking at a computer monitor that's hooked up to the security cameras in the backyard. Apparently the Force is tech-savvy, sadly, because before long, Wong's character willingly caves his head in on the desk in front of him.
Is There a Reason Why People Like Gary Can Look at the Force Without Killing Themselves?
Gary, played by Bohemian Rhapsody's Tom Hollander, arrives at the sprawling home where Malorie and the rest of the survivors are staying, banging at the door and begging to be let in. Sweet-natured Olympia (Danielle Macdonald) opens the door for him without consulting anyone one else, and at first, it seems like Gary will be a fine addition to the crew (despite Douglas's very loud objections). However, before long, it's revealed that Gary is one of the few human beings out there who can survive after seeing the monsters. Why? Well, it's not exactly clear. We get hints that the people who can look at the Force and not commit suicide suffered from mental illness before the monsters arrived (Gary mentions that he was institutionalized). That doesn't mean they get off scot-free, though - rather than killing themselves, they begin zealously worshiping the Force, and try to force other survivors to "look" at it (to the point of holding others' eyelids open, yeesh).
Gary's arrival is also the only clue we get about what the Force might look like, at least to him; he comes equipped with a folder full of charcoal drawings of ridiculously creepy creatures, with too-long legs, screaming mouths, razor-sharp teeth, and even some that look vaguely like bug-human hybrids. Essentially, they look like demons. While it's pretty obvious that not all the creatures present themselves the same way to people (ex: Douglas's wife seeing the image of her dead mother), Gary's rendering of them might be their actual form.
Do You Know Where It Came From?
Hell? Space? We never find out.
Is There a Way to Defeat It?
The only way to prevent against running into the Force is by blindfolding yourself (or going old school and simply closing your eyes) and keeping a bird nearby. The titular birds of Bird Box actually serve a pretty important purpose - they can sense when the Force is close and start chirping in distress. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be an actual way to defeat it, or even fight it at all. We'll just have to let the writers of the inevitable Bird Box 2 figure that one out.
You Need to Hear This Today: Golden Girls Monopoly Exists!
Still marathoning through episodes of The Golden Girls? You might want to grab some cheesecake and a few of your best girlfriends, because there's something important I have to share with you. A Golden Girls monopoly game exists, and I don't know about you, but I'm currently wondering where this has been all my life.
Golden Girls Monopoly introduces a few twists to the beloved classic game. The rules are pretty much the same as those of the standard version, except that the properties and locations here reflect those frequently mentioned on the show, like Shady Pines and Hollingsworth Manor. It also comes with five custom tokens modeled after a handful of iconic props from the series like cheesecake, Sophia's purse, Rose's teddy bear, Blanche's hand mirror, and Stan's toupee. It's honestly the perfect game to play with your crew while you all argue about who's the Dorothy or the Blanche of the group.
The game is currently available to purchase at Barnes and Noble - but you might want to hurry to grab one, because they're selling out fairly quickly.
Camilla Parker Bowles May Be Royal, but Her Biological Kids Stay Out of the Spotlight
When we think about Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, we probably think first about her decades-long and seriously complicated relationship with Prince Charles. But before she married the prince, she had a whole life and a first marriage that gave her two children. Camilla's children aren't in the spotlight nearly as much as her stepchildren, but they've still led interesting lives!
In 1973, Camilla Shand married Andrew Parker Bowles, a military officer. They had a son, Tom, in 1974, and a daughter, Laura, in 1978. Tom Parker Bowles is actually Prince Charles's godson, long before he was his stepson. After finishing his education, Tom became a food writer. He is a restaurant critic with The Mail and Esquire, as well as contributing columns to several other respected publications and has appeared as a judge on food TV shows such as MasterChef. Tom also is the author of seven cookbooks and cofounded a food line along with two other food critics. In 2005, he married Sara Buys, a fashion editor, and the couple have two children. Tom remains one of the most popular and high-profile food critics and experts in the UK.
Camilla's daughter Laura has had a similarly successful, if perhaps not as high-profile, life. Her career in art galleries began with an internship in Venice, Italy, and she soon became a gallery manager back in the UK in the mid-2000s. By 2005, she was a cofounder and gallery director of Eleven Gallery in London. Laura married Harry Lopes, an accountant descended from a baron, in 2006, and the couple has had three children. Laura's family definitely gets along with their royal stepfamily: their daughter, Eliza, was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Laura's stepbrother Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Although Tom and Laura tend to keep a lower profile than their royal relatives, they've appeared at a handful of events over the years, especially once their mother officially joined the royal family. Take a look at some of their appearances below!
Here's How A Christmas Prince Stacks Up to These 5 Other Royal Holiday Romance Movies
Picture this: you're curling up on the couch after a long day at work, about to crack open a bottle of Trader Joe's finest $7 white wine. While a sleeve of Ritz crackers pairs nicely with such a luxurious personal happy hour, you're also going to need some entertainment. It's cold outside! (At least in some parts of the country!) What's cozier than a movie about a woman falling in love with a prince against all odds and plot conventions? Enter: A Christmas Prince.
Wait, hold on. Is it A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding? Or A Prince For Christmas? No, wait, it's A Princess For Christmas, right? Or is My Christmas Prince the one you're looking for?
Until very recently, I was blissfully unaware of a very specific subset of seasonal movies: the royal holiday romance. All of these movies share a core set of values and/or character stereotypes - the small-town girl who wasn't expecting to fall in love, a dashing prince bucking against his parents' rules, precocious kid(s), and dialogue so cheesy anyone with lactose intolerance should stop reading this immediately - and, in a rather impressive feat, have managed to rearrange the words "prince," "princess," and "Christmas" into dozens of title variations.
While most of these movies have lived happily ever after on Lifetime and the Hallmark channel, Netflix stepped into the game in 2017 with A Christmas Prince, its unintentionally hilarious foray into the world of ridiculous (and ridiculously charming) holiday romance that spawned a sequel and another royal romance, only starring Vanessa Hudgens. Since there are tons of Christmas movies competing for your attention this season, I took the liberty of watching a few royal holiday movies with confusingly similar titles to figure out which one truly reigns supreme. Each film is rated on a very scientific scale of zero to five snowflakes, so read on to see which one you should spend the night with.
James Corden's Annual Christmas Carpool Karaoke Mashup Is Here to Spread Some Holiday Cheer
James Corden shimmied on down the YouTube chimney to deliver us a very merry Christmas carpool karaoke. On Thursday, The Late Late Show host dropped his annual holiday song mashup with the celebrities who joined him in the front seat this year. Evidently, when James and Cardi B weren't performing at a senior center, they were recording a snippet for this music video. And after Ariana Grande injured her hand during her appearance, she still had enough holiday cheer to belt out a few beautiful notes. Other stars who are featured in the seasonal serenade include Shawn Mendes, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, and Michael Bublé. Watch them add their own twist to the upbeat karaoke rendition of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" in the clip above. And in the words of Quavo from Migos, "Merry Dripmas!"

17 Ways Our Beloved Barack Obama Continued Livin' It Up in 2018
Barack Obama had quite the eventful year in 2017: he celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with wife Michelle, he had a kitesurfing challenge with Richard Branson, and his bromance with Prince Harry only got stronger. Between traveling the world and celebrating sweet milestones with Michelle, I think I speak for everyone when I say, "Keep doing you, Barack!"

Vanessa Hudgens on Second Act and the Resurgence of Rom-Coms: "We All Need a Break From Reality"
Vanessa Hudgens might be best known for her role in Disney Channel's High School Musical, but these days, she's emerging as a leading lady in romantic comedies. In addition to starring in Dog Days and Netflix's The Princess Switch earlier this year, the actress stars alongside Jennifer Lopez in Second Act. The film isn't your typical girl-meets-guy rom-com, though. Instead, the story is about a woman named Maya (Lopez) who gets a second chance to fulfill her career ambitions and winds up making all of her dreams come true in the most unlikely way.
Ahead of the film's release on Dec. 21, I had a chance to talk with Hudgens, who plays one of Maya's coworkers, Zoe, in the film. In addition to gushing about working with "the OG" of rom-coms, Hudgens also discussed the importance of setting good examples of women's relationships in film, the power of the romantic comedy, and Second Act's shocking twist.
Warning: spoilers for Second Act ahead.
POPSUGAR: I really loved the movie's twist - that Zoe ends up being the daughter Maya gave up for adoption. What was your reaction when you found out that you would be playing Jennifer Lopez's daughter? Did you know when you first got the role?
Vanessa Hudgens: I was approached with just, "This part is Jennifer Lopez's daughter," so they completely ruined the surprise for me [laughs]. But as I was reading the script, I was really excited about it because I've been a fan of Jennifer's for so long, and I feel like she's the OG of rom-coms, so I was just excited that she was doing another. And then when I read the script and realized it was so much more than just that - it had self-empowerment, second chances, and really big themes - I was so excited about it.
PS: Definitely! And that's one of the things that I really loved about this movie. It wasn't the classic rom-com of "the girl gets the guy." It was more about the girl chasing her dreams and also reconnecting with her estranged daughter. One thing I really loved about Maya and Zoe's relationship was that even though they were competing against each other at work, they were still super supportive of each other, which I think is really important to see with women on screen.
"Women can have healthy competition and still support each other. We are all victorious together."
VH: Yeah, totally. It's so important to set good examples in film of women's relationships. I feel like a lot of times it's portrayed as catty or extremely competitive. But I feel like this [movie] is really incredible for taking a step back from that cliché and showing how women can have healthy competition and still support each other. We are all victorious together. It's not one against the other.
PS: Like you said, Jennifer has done so many iconic rom-coms over the years, and you've been in a few yourself this year. Did you learn anything from her, in particular, while filming?
VH: She is just one of the hardest-working women I've ever met. It's really inspiring because a lot of times you just see the end results of all of her hard labor, but being able to be there with her and seeing her through that process is just very inspiring.
PS: Was it super surreal getting to work with her after being such a big fan?
VH: Yeah. I mean, she's such an icon. I would find myself just staring at her because she's so gorgeous, and I would have to remind myself to stop staring [laughs].

PS: Do you have a favorite Jennifer Lopez movie of your own?
VH: The Wedding Planner [laughs].
PS: Yeah, it's a classic.
VH: I love it so much. I remember when it first came out, I watched it over and over and over again.
PS: There has been a huge resurgence of the rom-com genre this year with so many great movies, including a few of your own. Why do you think rom-coms are so much more popular now?
VH: The world's a crazy place. We all need a little bit of escapism and a break from reality and to enter a world of fantasy. Also, this film, I know after reading it and watching it, it really allows for self-reflection, which I think is such an important thing to do constantly.
PS: The central message of this film is overcoming obstacles and chasing your dream. You've been in the spotlight since you were very young. Was there a specific moment in your career when you overcame an obstacle that was especially rewarding?
VH: I feel like all the time, still, to this day. A lot of times, the parts that you want are the parts that you have to fight for. They're not the things that are necessarily just handed to you, but it makes it that much more rewarding when you do get it.

PS: Speaking of the beginning of your career, Disney Channel's High School Musical is now getting turned into a TV series. As one of the original cast members, do you have any advice for the actors who are going to be in the TV reboot?
VH: Have fun. Just have fun. We just had the best time making High School Musical. We didn't have any expectations. We just told the story and had a great time. So have fun. And work hard.
PS: What does that mean to you that people still love High School Musical so much after all this time?
VH: It's crazy. It's really cool that I got to be a part of something that is holding the test of time. The fact that kids are still watching it, and it's been like a decade that it's been out, is insane to me, but it's really incredible. I remember watching West Side Story for the first time and being so inspired by it and falling in love with musical theater. So hopefully it'll inspire kids everywhere to follow their dreams.
