How Is It Possible For Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk to Look This Sexy?
Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk rarely hit the red carpet together, but when they do, boy do they look damn good. Following their appearance at the Palm Springs Film Awards last week, the couple had an ultraglam date night at the Golden Globes on Sunday. The 44-year-old actor cut a suave figure in an all white tux, while the 33-year-old model looked sexy in a gold sparkly gown. The pair turned up the heat on the red carpet as they held hands and exchanged loving glances.
Bradley and Irina have been dating since 2015 and welcomed a baby girl named Lea in April 2017. Given that Bradley's film, A Star Is Born, with Lady Gaga was nominated for not one but five awards, it makes sense that Irina stepped out to support her man.
Sandra Oh Isn't the Only Asian Actor to Have Won a Golden Globe - Here Are Past Winners!
My Asian-American, Grey's Anatomy-obsessed heart is having a moment right now, because Sandra Oh just won a Golden Globe for lead actress in a TV series in the drama category for her role as Eve Polastri on BBC America's Killing Eve! (On top of that, she's also the first Asian actress to get the hosting gig on the prestigious award show, in case you haven't already heard.) It's not Oh's first time in the award season rodeo - she's also won a Golden Globe in 2006 and earned five Emmy nominations for her role as Cristina Yang on Grey's Anatomy.
Oh isn't the first and only Asian to ever win a Golden Globe, though. In fact, she's not the only Asian who's ever won for a lead actress on a TV series in the drama category - the first was Yoko Shimada, an actress of Japanese descent who won the category in 1981 for her work on the show Shōgun. Other past wins for Asians include British-Indian Ben Kingsley for best lead actor in a drama and best new actor (a now defunct category) in 1983 for Gandhi, Cambodian Haing S. Ngor for best supporting actor in 1985 for The Killing Fields, and Indian-American Aziz Ansari for best lead actor in a TV comedy or musical in 2018 for Master of None. Oh's win still rings loudly, and rightfully so, given the obvious reason that there has been so little representation of the Asian community throughout the award show's history.
So, yup, it really is an honor just to be Asian right now. Cheers to more Asian representation during award season and a delightfully dark and twisty second season of Killing Eve!
Proof That Regina King and Ian Alexander Jr. Have Always Been the Cutest Mother-Son Duo
When Regina King brought her son, Ian Alexander Jr., as her date to the 2019 Golden Globes, it wasn't the first time he tagged along with his mom to a big event. The 22-year-old, whom Regina had with ex-husband Ian Alexander, praised his mom while they were on the Globes red carpet, calling her "supermom" and sharing how much he values equality in the workplace, as part of the Time's Up movement.
Ian has been part of his mom's red carpet routine for more than a decade, showing up at premieres, receptions, and even the NAACP Awards. It seems the two have the most fun at NBA games together, though, and once you see the pictures, you'll know exactly what we mean! Keep reading to see them and more sweet moments between the two.
The Powerful Reason Stars Wore Black and White Ribbons at the Golden Globes
For the second year in a row, celebrities stood in solidarity and showed their support for the Time's Up movement at the Golden Globes. Last year, stars hit the red carpet in all black ensembles as a symbol of protest against sexual harassment in the industry, and this year, the red carpet was flooded with black and white ribbons and bands. Celebrities like Idris Elba, Rachel Brosnahan, and Marti Noxon all made powerful statements when they showed up to Sunday's Golden Globes wearing the ribbons and bands. Each of the ribbons and bracelets, which were designed by stylist Arianne Phillips, read "TIMESUPx2" across them and symbolize the union of the Time's Up supporters who are committed to creating safe, fair, and dignified workplaces for women. They also represent the new TIMESUPx2 campaign, which is a celebration of the initiative's second year.
As of today, the Time's Up Legal Defense Fund has connected nearly 4,000 men and women with necessary legal resources to fight workplace harassment. "We created the fund because all people deserve to be safe at work, but safety alone is far from our end goal," Time's Up said in a statement posted on their website last week. "It's the bare minimum. Sexual harassment stems from an imbalance of power. Issues of workplace safety for women, and especially for women of color, are but a symptom of the power imbalance that plagues nearly every sector. We won't stop fighting until there is gender balance in leadership and all women have the opportunity to reach their full potential at work."
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard Redefine the Award Show "Rules," and We Forking Love Them For It
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard just know how to make our hearts melt. The cute couple of 11 years made an appearance at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, but their fun started long before they hit the red carpet in Beverly Hills.
Kristen, who's nominated for her role as Eleanor Shellstrop on NBC's The Good Place, shared photos of their pre-Globes routine on Instagram. For her and Dax, the party began with a no-kids hotel stay, followed by breakfast in bed, and some last-minute shoe choices. To caption one funny photo, she wrote, "I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure the rule is to eat as much as humanely possible before squeezing into a formal dress. Right?" If that isn't the rule, it definitely should be! Ahead, see more photos of Kristen and Dax's night out - holy shirtballs, they're the best.
Christian Bale's Bleeped Golden Globes Speech Was Completely Bonkers
If you've seen Christian Bale's insane transformation for his role as former Vice President Dick Cheney in Vice, then you should understand why his Golden Globe for best performance by an actor in a musical or comedy film is totally deserved. However, even more crazy than his dramatic transformation was his speech after receiving the award. It began innocently enough, with the actor giving a shout-out to his "beautiful wife, who says less is more," and their children. "I can sink and ruin a perfectly good movie and a so-so career in one speech," he joked, and yet from there, things got a little weirder.
Bale thanked director Adam McKay, who supposedly noted to the actor that the role of Dick Cheney needed "someone who can be absolutely charisma-free and reviled by everybody." Bale went on to say that he would like to start "cornering the market on charisma-free assh*les," though his expletive got bleeped from the broadcast.
He asked the audience, "What do you think - Mitch McConnell next?" Kentucky's senior United States senator, Mitch McConnell, is best known for withholding Republican support for major presidential initiatives during the Obama administration and for his frequent use of the filibuster, so if it wasn't obvious before, it's safe to say where Bale stands politically.
Finally, as well as thanking the cast and crew - especially the Vice prosthetics experts - Bale added, "Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role." Going into the ceremony, Vice led with six nominations, but we think that Bale's no-holds-barred speech might be even more memorable than the film itself.

We Are ALL Sandra Oh's Parents, Cheering Her on After That Historic Golden Globes Win
Sandra Oh is bringing home another Golden Globe, y'all! The 2019 show's host received the award for best actress in a TV drama on Sunday for her role as Eve Polastri on BBC's Killing Eve, and fans could not contain their excitement.
As Oh emerged from backstage to accept her award, she was greeted by rousing applause, and a sweet standing ovation from her dad in the audience. Oh gave an energetic shout-out to her Killing Costars in her acceptance speech and began tearing up as she spoke to her parents, Joon-Soo and Young-Nam Oh, in Korean.
Twitter users quickly caught on to the adorable moment and congratulated Oh on her important win. She makes history with this award, as the first Asian performer to have received multiple Golden Globes. Ahead, see reactions to Sandra's win, including a few exciting responses from her Grey's Anatomy family.
An Expert Explains How to Exercise For Long-Term Weight Loss, and It Makes So Much Sense
You know losing weight is a concentrated effort and a lifestyle change: you have to eat healthier and in a calorie deficit, exercise, get plenty of sleep, and reduce stress. But even if you do all of the above, you still may be confused as to what type of exercise you should be doing. Isn't cardio supposed to rev up calorie burn and torch fat? But wait - doesn't strength training also build lean muscle and burn calories at rest? Which one is best?
According to personal trainer and registered dietitian Jim White, ACSM, owner of Jim White Fitness and Nutrition Studios, it's important to incorporate both cardio and strength training if you want to lose weight and keep it off for good. And while you probably knew this already, the way he explains it totally changed the way we thought about working out for long-term weight loss.
Related: Yes, You Can Lose Up to 15 Pounds in 2 Months (and Keep It Off) - Here's How
"The reason for needing both cardio and resistance training in your exercise routine is the way your body burns calories long-term," he told POPSUGAR. "Running is like a debit account (you would create a calorie deficit, but that deficit is a one-time transaction), whereas resistance training is like getting a payout from an investment account (the calories you burn during your exercise continue even after your workout ends)."
So while cardio burns calories as you do it, resistance training (such as lifting weights, bodyweight moves, or using resistance bands) helps build lean muscle in your body, which will burn more calories at rest.
For weight loss, Jim recommends 300 minutes (five hours) of cardio a week. That doesn't have to be intense cycling classes or running laps; it can be as simple as walking more or shoveling snow - anything that gets your heart rate up. You should aim to strength train at least two days a week. Looking for a good place to start? Here are our best cardio workouts and some strength-training exercises to get you on track.

Jumpstart Your New Year's Resolution With This Beginner's 4-Week Strength Training Program
Now that you've decided to start lifting weights, you're probably wondering where exactly you should begin. We know the weight room can seem intimidating, which is why we created this guide to get you acclimated to lifting weights. This program is designed to first and foremost introduce you to weightlifting, and second help you build lean muscle - and yes, you'll lose fat as well.
You'll work out three times a week for four weeks. Ideally we'd like you to do the strength sessions with a lighter activity day in between (swimming, yoga, etc.), but we do understand that life happens, so move them around to fit your schedule! The first two weeks will be very simple but still challenging. On weeks three and four, the sets and reps will increase. A sample week will look like the following:
- Monday: Week 1, Workout A
- Tuesday: Foam roll for 15 minutes
- Wednesday: Week 1, Workout B
- Thursday: 20-minute easy run
- Friday: Week 1, Workout C
- Saturday: Hour long walk
- Sunday: Yoga
For the exercises that require weight, start with either 7.5-pound or 10-pound dumbbells. If this feels too light or too heavy, make necessary adjustments. It's more important to master the movement than to move carelessly with heavier weights. Don't forget to warm up and cool down after every workout. For your warmup you can do an easy run or dynamic exercises to activate your muscles like butt kicks, high knees, plank saws, and glute bridges.
Since you're being more active, you will more than likely notice that you have a larger appetite. Listen to your body and fuel it with nutritious foods like vegetables, protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats. Drink lots of water and be sure to replace the electrolytes you've lost with a sports drink or electrolyte tablets.

Kobe Bryant may have retired from professional basketball in 2016 as a five-time NBA champion, but his stats off the court just keep on growing. On New Year's Day, he and wife Vanessa Bryant announced that they're expecting their fourth child, a baby girl, later this year. Kobe and Vanessa already have three daughters - Natalia, 15, Gianna, 12, and Bianka, 2 - and are "beyond excited" to welcome another girl, or #mambacita, as they call them. He even told James Corden in 2017 he runs Phil Jackson's famous triangle offense with the girls! Ahead, find Kobe and Vanessa's baby announcement and more photos of the growing family.
6 Cold Medicines You Can Safely Take While Pregnant, and 4 You Should Absolutely Avoid
When you first learn that you're pregnant, you might become a tad neurotic about what you put into your body (I know I was). You want to make sure you're healthy and safe, and the last thing you want to do is harm your growing baby. And with cold and flu season becoming more rampant and deadly in the last few years, coming down with a simple cold can be extremely scary. You worry about what medicines are OK to take and what you should shy away from.
To help navigate this important topic, Dr. Ian Tong, chief medical officer at Doctor on Demand, spoke with POPSUGAR about how pregnant women should handle a cold. "Sudafed use should be avoided in the first trimester," he said. "There's also really not enough benefit to the use of zinc or vitamin C in the acute phase of a cold to justify the short-term use of these vitamins." The following are approved medicines to use during pregnancy:
• Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
• Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
• Pseudoephedrine (Sudafed - is OK after first trimester)
• Loratadine (Claritin)
• Zinc lozenges and vitamin C (have limited benefit in the acute phase of a cold to justify the short-term use of these nutrients, but they are still safe)
• Chloraseptic spray (but a salt-water gargle is just as effective with no risks)
Dr. Kristin Dean, also from Doctors on Demand, stressed that "over-the-counter, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory Drugs (also known as NSAIDs) are not safe to use during pregnancy. This includes brand names such as Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, and Motrin." Especially during the first 12 weeks, try not to take anything at all if you don't have to.
While there are some options on the list above, the downside is that they don't always do the trick, so we're often left to "suck it up," which leaves us even more exhausted than being pregnant alone tends to do. So, the next time you get a cold, try the medicines above (preferably once you're in the second trimester), but always remember to check with your own doctor first. In the meantime, make sure to practice good hand-washing, get plenty of sleep, and drink lots of water.

"Grandma Gone Wild" Photo Shoot Features Woman Posing For Boudoir Photos in Bathtub Full of Yarn
When Lisa Bishop, a Georgia-based grandmother of five, wanted to give her husband a portrait of herself for Christmas, she turned to her daughter Samantha - a professional photographer - for help.
"The idea started as a joke," Samantha said. "My mom is actually very modest, so when I said she should do a boudoir shoot so that she can see what I do for a living, she joked, 'Only in a bathtub full of yarn.'"
Little did Lisa know that her daughter would make good on her requirement in the most hilarious way imaginable. When it came time for the shoot, Lisa – who loves to crochet – kept her word and climbed in the tub, filled to the brim with multicolored balls of yarn. Not only that, but she played along, posing seductively with a crochet needle and reading a knitting guide book.
Samantha called the hilarious series "Grandma Gone Wild" and turned it into a photo album for Lisa to give her husband, Mike, who was quite amused with the end result.
"Peep his adorable schoolboy reaction at the end," she told her followers on Facebook of the photos, which culminated with a handful of shots of her dad paging through the album. "Literally made this whole thing a thousand times better."
What's more: Mike isn't the only one who is a fan of this silly-yet-sexy keepsake. Samantha's post went viral – it was shared more than 62,000 times! – and among the 15,000 comments were many from people wanting their own version. So, by popular demand, Samantha released a "Grandma's Gone Wild" calendar on Etsy for $25, and it comes with some extra, never-before-seen images of Lisa, this time in the bedroom.
But don't worry, the bed's filled with yarn, too.
According to Doctors, This Is the Best Time to Try and Get Pregnant
Conceiving a baby seems like it should be pretty straightforward. You have sex and you get pregnant, right? If only it were that easy! After conceiving four kids of my own, I know how timing is everything. You can't simply do the deed and expect to see a plus sign on a pregnancy test a short time later. Instead, getting pregnant is all about having intercourse on your most fertile days to increase your chances the egg will meet the sperm at just the right time. But how do you know when that exact "right time" is? Ovulation kits help, but it's also important to understand how your cycle works. POPSUGAR talked to two experts to learn more and find out when the best time is to try and get pregnant.
"Your most fertile day depends on how long your cycle lasts," explained Dr. Christine Greves, an ob-gyn at Orlando Health. For example, if you have a 28-day cycle, you would ovulate 14 days after the first day of your period, or day 14. You want to have intercourse one to two days prior to ovulation, the day you ovulate, and one to two days after you ovulate to increase your chances of getting pregnant.
Dr. Zaher Merhi at New Hope Fertility Center recommended having intercourse every other day starting after you finish your period. While the time of day you have sex isn't important, Merhi explained, "The window to get pregnant is 24 hours. Once the egg is ovulated, it lives only [that long]. If this time period is missed, pregnancy will not happen."
Are you thinking what I'm thinking? That the time during the month you can conceive is super short? It's no wonder it can take more than a few cycles to get pregnant. Greves said if you are younger than 35 and have tried to conceive for a year without success, see your doctor. If you are over 35, wait six months before seeing your doctor for a full workup and help conceiving that baby.
After Criticism About Her Skin, Kendall Jenner Is Talking About Her Acne For the First Time
Proactiv has a new face, and it's a familiar one. Model and reality star Kendall Jenner was announced as the brand's new ambassador.
If you're having trouble connecting the dots - model and Proactiv? - let's break it down. Jenner enjoyed her time at the Golden Globes in 2018, only to get online and read harsh criticism about her skin. She had a breakout, but said she felt good had a wonderful night before seeing the comments online.
"I've never ever told this story; I've kind of just dealt with it in secret," Jenner said in a promotional video. "I went to an award show . . . I got on the red carpet and I felt really good about myself." She said afterward, she got online and saw negative comments, like, "What did you do to your face?"
"I felt so good I completely forgot that I had bad skin," she said.
Initially, the comments upset her. But then she said she noticed an outpouring of support and empathetic comments on Twitter, with people saying they were proud of her. This positivity is what inspired Jenner to change her perspective on her acne, but she still wanted to find a way to clear up her skin.
"But at the same time, it's this thing like . . . I do want it gone," she said.
Jenner announced during the Golden Globes preshow that she was partnering with Proactiv Solution as the brand's newest ambassador after using it and seeing the results. "For me, I can honestly say, the magic was Proactiv," she said. The unrealistic beauty standards created by technology, like filters and FaceTune, has made people sensitive to seeing real skin. We're glad she's speaking out about something that is so prevalent among her fan base, but more so that she didn't let her acne keep her from enjoying herself.
This is the Real Reason Alison Brie's Hair Was Up For the Golden Globes
For the 2019 Golden Globes, Alison Brie traded in her '80s curls for swept-up loose waves. The Glow actress arrived at the awards show with her hair pinned up into an undone french twist, which she told POPSUGAR was on purpose. "I get a perm every season for Glow and then it's teased to death when we're shooting and I'm playing Zoya the Destroya," she said.
That's why she kicked off the night with the Nexxus Vitall 8-in-1 Mask ($4) (she's a sponsor for the brand). Then, instead of opting for a sleeker, straight hairdo, she actually worked her permed curls into her look. Her hairstylist Bobby Eliot blow-dried her hair without a brush to enhance the hair's texture.
"We put my hair up, and we're using some of that curly texture for the bangs," Brie said. "I have a lot of layers on the show, and it looks very '80s when it's just down on its own, so we've just gathered the longer layers and put them up and swept my bangs out of my face but kept my texture in it. You can still see some of the waves throughout."
See more images of Brie making waves on the red carpet, ahead.
Valley of the Dolls? Blondie? Lucy Boynton Proves She's One to Watch This Award Season
If you love the flirty, stylish flair of the late '60s and '70s, you'll appreciate the disco-inspired looks Lucy Boynton is showing off this award season. The actress, who appears in Bohemian Rhapsody alongside her recently confirmed boyfriend, Rami Malek, has stunned in several retro looks that had us feeling like we were watching a scene straight out of Valley of the Dolls or like she had just left a gig. (We're getting major Debbie Harry vibes, too.)
If there's one thing you can say about Boynton's style, it's that it's consistent. It's a modern take on vintage looks that have bohemian notes included. Her lashes, which appear to be 100 percent real, are not only to die for but also perfectly defined. (Seriously, give this woman a mascara deal.) We love a bit of whimsy and a well-implemented theme, and seeing these looks on a red carpet only makes our job more fun. Check out the gallery for some of our favorite looks - we'll keep updating with makeup and hair details throughout the season.
Jamie Lee Curtis Makes a Case For Ditching Dye With Her White Hair at the Golden Globes
Jamie Lee Curtis arrived at the Golden Globes red carpet with a surprising new hair color. The actress has had salt and pepper hair for the last few years, but her current color can only be describe as snow white, matching her stunning dress. She paired her combed-back 'do with a nude lip and silver eye makeup that complemented her bright new hair. We love that the actress has forgone dye and embraced her natural hue. Is There a Deeper Meaning Behind Lady Gaga's Blue Hair at the Golden Globes?
Lady Gaga is no stranger to blue hair (or orange, or yellow, or pink, for that matter. . .), but her soft pastel take on the color at the 2019 Golden Globes has everyone doing a double take - but maybe not for the reason you think.
While the look has plenty of people on Twitter and Instagram drawing comparisons to Disney's Cinderella - the sleeves! that train! - it's also eerily reminiscent of Judy Garland's lavender gown in the 1954 version of A Star is Born. Considering the fact that Bradley Cooper's iteration featured many tributes to the earlier films, you have to wonder if Lady Gaga's play on color was yet another nod to the past. And because this is Mother Monster we're talking about, she took it one step further, extending the periwinkle hue to her hair. Would you expect anything less?
Check out the similarities ahead, and remember: not everything is as shallow as it seems.
Here's Exactly How Lupita Nyong'o Got Her Blue Lashes For the Golden Globes
Lupita Nyong'o's eye-catching blue makeup look at the 2019 Golden Globes was created with three products.
Nick Barose, the Black Panther actress's makeup artist for the event, broke down her look on his Instagram. In a caption, he explained that he lined her eyes with Lancome's Drama Liquid-Pencil Longer Eyeliner in Cote D'azur ($23). Then, he applied Lashify's limited-edition Prismatic Colors A Gossamer Lashes ($25) on the outer corners and blended the colored lashes with Lancome Monsieur Big Color Lash Top Coat in Blue ($12). Barose also mentioned the shade of blue created by artist Yves Klein as the inspiration behind the look.

Everyone's Dream Boyfriend, Chris Messina, Is Now Blond
We don't want to overshadow how talented, smart, and witty Chris Messina is, but he's making it really hard not salivate while seeing him on the Golden Globes red carpet. The actor - who is presenting at the show and appeared in Sharp Objects, which is nominated for best TV movie or limited-series - made us do a double-take while sporting new platinum blond hair.
We say "new" because just last month, Messina was spotted with his normal brunette look. He's won over plenty of fans for his boy-next-door charm on The Mindy Project and brooding mysteriousness in Sharp Objects. This look is giving us '80s punk-rock front man in the best way possible. Surely the change is for a role? We'll let you know once we confirm, but in the meantime, let's pretend he wanted to see if blonds really do have more fun.
Musician Joanna Newsom's Best Accessory at the Golden Globes Wasn't Andy Samberg
When musician Joanna Newsom stepped on the Golden Globes red carpet, we couldn't look away from her silky bob and bangs, but it wasn't until she turned her head that we were truly floored. The multitalented artist attended the award show to support husband and show host Andy Samberg while wearing a '20s-inspired art deco barrette in her hair, placed right above her ear; it matched a bangle on her wrist. She kept her makeup simple with an apricot lip and cheek. See the classic look ahead.
Lili Reinhart’s Golden Globes Makeup Is Red Hot, Hot, Hot
We can't get over Lili Reinhart's red hot, monochromatic makeup look at the 2019 Golden Globes.
Reinhart stepped onto the red carpet with glossy peach lips and bright red eye shadow on her lids and under her bottom lashes. Her makeup artist posted the Instagram ahead, and mentioned that the look was created by two brands, with the caption, "#makeup #adambreucahud using @patmcgrathreal @kiehls."
Red-on-red makeup isn't the easiest look to pull off, but the actress does it effortlessly. See more photos of the Riverdale star ahead.
Why Kendall Jenner's Acne Going Viral Is Part of a Bigger Problem
If you meet someone who hasn't dealt with acne, consider them a unicorn and put them in the Smithsonian. It's a rite of passage for many people, and as we age, we're learning that due to our hormones, adult acne is commonplace. And frankly, it's nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of.
Acne does not mean you aren't clean. It doesn't mean you haven't tried everything you can to get rid of it. There are so many factors now when it comes to blemish-prone skin: it can be as simple as changing your laundry detergent or as complicated as the medication you're taking. The point is that for most of us, acne is normal. It might suck, but it doesn't make you different. In fact, it makes you human.
When it comes to social media, though, you'll see nary a blemish, a scar, a mark, a bump. Smooth, mannequin-esque skin is rampant thanks to photo-editing apps like Facetune - a built-in form of Photoshop for your phone. It's been reported that people are getting surgeries and treatments to look more like the edited and filtered versions of their photos. And of course we see poreless, perfect photographs for campaigns. One could argue that for professional images, retouching is commonplace, but when it comes to scrolling through Instagram, it seems like we should be a little more realistic.
Which leads us to Kendall Jenner at the Golden Globes in 2018. She looked stunning. Kendall is undeniably gorgeous: she's tall with striking features; she's a model, for god's sake. But it's hard to get through any type of big event without a woman enduring intense criticism, so many chose to emphasize something she probably would have rather been ignored: her skin.
The fact is that Kendall had a breakout. Shocking! A woman with real, uncontrollable skin! Normally this isn't something we'd call attention to, but seeing how people went after her for something completely normal, we felt this photo was important to discuss for a few reasons.
Kendall had a great response in regard to the criticism she was receiving about her skin at the Globes. It's worth noting that she is also an inspirational standard of beauty for many. She is tall, and she seemingly has the perfect body, hair, and face. As for her acne, Jenner recently announced a partnership with Proactiv Solution at the 2019 Golden Globes, claiming the products are responsible for clearing up her skin.
As a normal person, it can feel overwhelming to see perfect images online because it's feels like you're not living up to a particular standard when it comes to beauty. You place the blame on yourself. How many times have you looked in a mirror and wondered why your lips weren't bigger or smaller? Your skin not smoother? Your eyes not more cat-like? Your hair not thicker or straighter? Your complexion not even-toned? Your waistline not thinner? Where did these lines come from? We all have something that, whether we realize it or not, bothers us because of the images we are fed each day online.
This picture, however, reminds everyone that Kendall is in her early 20s. She has hormones and bad skin days, just like the rest of us. She's human. It's also a reminder that editing is just as commonplace on social media as it is in magazines. You can't trust every image you see.
You might not realize it, but many of the top influencers online are editing their photos with precision. It's not just a filter change anymore - things can be removed, plumped, lifted, and enhanced. Instagram account CelebFace has made an impact in the beauty community by posting extreme close-ups and before-and-after photos of celebrities. The people behind the account also post GIFs to demonstrate how they've been edited - sometimes extensively so. Some of the page's content can be gossipy at times, but in general, it's creating a dialogue about how far we'll go on social media to look our best. (CelebFace did not return POPSUGAR's request for comment.)
Many of those featured on CelebFace change the size of their already-tiny waists, their jawlines, and their eye shapes. The account also showcases filler and plastic surgeries, which is nothing to be ashamed of. These are not taboo topics in 2018, although it feels like everyone would rather ignore the sometimes-obvious elephant in the room. The changes become an issue when it's clear that a celebrity has done "something" but portray it as natural or as if it's makeup.
"We need to know the truth behind beauty to stop dysmorphia issues," said Andrea Berk, founder of digital beauty agency HDN. "If we don't love something about our physical appearance, we can change it, and that's the beauty of modern science. But not acknowledging the changes made causes so much confusion and inner struggle about our perceived flaws."
That said, one could argue that it's nobody's business what you do or don't do to your face and body. And that's true. But when you're influencing a large demographic of impressionable women and men, it's fair to want transparency, especially when body dysmorphic disorder starts as young as 12-13 years old. Because it's near impossible to know who and what's been edited or changed, it's important to make sure you keep a realistic perspective when it comes to beauty. And part of that is as simple as curating your Instagram so that you only see images that make you feel your best.
"I'm a strong advocate of responsible social media usage," said Daniel Lyman, LCSW. Lyman works with a variety of actors in Los Angeles who are experiencing body dysmorphia at the hands of the media. The celebrity is scrutinized for his or her appearance and feels pressure to look a certain way, which leads to cosmetic procedures or edited images. This all feeds into the unrealistic beauty culture that's been created online.
"It is more important that you follow the right people than it is to follow everyone," Lyman said. "What you see online is about controlling the content you subscribe to. If certain websites regularly body shame people, then don't continue going to that website. If certain Instagrammers make you feel worse about yourself, then it's important to unfollow them. Taking control of your internet usage means taking control of the content you allow yourself to see."
Whatever side you're on, we all know that more than ever, there is an unfair pressure to look perfect, regardless of what you're doing: with or without makeup, at home or at a party. But nobody is without flaws. Everybody, including celebrities, has bad days. This photo of Kendall, and others like it, should not encourage you to pick apart how someone looks. It should inspire empathy.
When looking at a photo, think: what if that were me? How would you want people to react and respond? This photo should remind you that you are beautiful regardless of what your skin looks that day or how a certain image made you feel about yourself. It should remind you that social expectations typically do not meet reality. That you are enough the way you are. And if you want to change something about yourself, go for it. Just make sure you're doing it for you, not anyone else - especially the pressure to look a certain way through typically inauthentic online images.
Fenty Beauty's Liquid Lipstick Is the Best Purchase I've Made in 2018 - It Lasts All Day
You could call me a bit of a liquid lipstick expert. As a shopping editor, I'm obsessed with discovering new formulas readers should know about - and let's be real, I want them for myself, too. It's no secret that Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored, a classic red, has been a customer favorite. But, I got really excited when Rihanna released the formula in more colors.
As soon as I laid eyes on Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in Uncuffed ($24), I headed straight to Sephora to try it for myself. It's the perfect rosy mauve I can wear for both day and night. I have very fair skin, and the color popped on my complexion but wasn't too overpowering. Let's call this my new daily go-to color.
On top of being a flattering shade, the formula is impressive - it glides on easily and doesn't feel drying. In fact, I often forget I even have it on. I can eat a couple meals without reapplying, which is a big winner for me when I have a busy work day. It's an all-around excellent lipstick.
Read on to see what this liquid lipstick looks like on me. Then, give it a try for yourself - I'm begging you!

Kendall Jenner's Neon Green New Year's Eve Top Is $63, and We Bet It Sells Out Fast
First she wore a slime green Christian Siriano gown on Christmas Eve, then Kendall kept the color scheme going strong, opting for the same trendy hue to ring in 2019. "Really into green these days. 💚 Happy New Year!" Kendall posted, sharing a shot of her flirty I.AM.GIA top, which features a bow, sweetheart neckline, and ruffled sleeves and rings in at just $63.
Kendall coordinated her shirt with Balenciaga gemstone earrings in the same shade, and her eye shadow rounded out the look. Unexpected, perhaps, were Kendall's patent leather skinnies, which gave off Sandy from Grease vibes in the best possible way. While she may not carry out a dedication to lime all year long, they say that a lot depends on how you start the new year, and we've got good feelings about Kendall's color choice. Don't you?

3 Things to Start Doing Now If You Want to Kick That Bad Snooze Button Habit
Hi. My name is Amanda and I am in a committed, albeit toxic, relationship with my snooze button. Don't think I'm not aware of the negative effects this communion has on my life. The nights are late, the mornings are rough, and the bags under my eyes hold all the proof. Yet somehow, I still snooze in eight-minute increments from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. every day - sorry, not sorry?
But honestly, it's a habit I've been trying to kick for the last three years. Every Jan. 1, resolution number one is become a morning person. I want to be one of those people who makes breakfast at home, drinks a cup of coffee, meditates, does yoga, watches a morning talk show, and throws in a load of laundry all before heading out for the day. But my snooze button, my beloved, cherished snooze button, seems to have a siren call I can just not resist.
I decided 2018 is the year I finally get serious about kicking my mornings into gear, so I turned to the experts. Dr. Taz, MD, integrative health expert, explained that the reason hitting the snooze button is so bad for you is because it breaks up your sleep. Consist sleep is more important than a longer, interrupted sleep. Below are a few tips for getting a better night's sleep so you can wake up unaided and alert. (Here's hoping, kids.)
1. It's all about the nighttime prep
According to Dr. Taz, there are a few things you should start doing at night to set your self up for a successful morning sans-snooze. Start by limiting the amount of sugar and alcohol you consume prior to bed, and absolutely no coffee or caffeine after noon. Once you're ready to start winding down for the evening, create a room for rest. Remove all electronics from your "rest zone." Try taking a prebedtime bath with Dr. Teal's Lavender Epsom Salt ($5) to help with relaxation. "The lavender is soothing and relaxing while the Epsom salts contain magnesium to help with relaxation and sleep," explains Dr. Taz.
2. Avoid stressful mornings
This is one I really struggle with. Each morning in my snooze state, I am partially dreaming, partially putting together an outfit in my head. Once I have my outfit sorted, then I worry about lunch and feeding the cats and everything else I should have tackled the night before! My new goal is to iron and prep my outfit at night before bed. Same with my lunch. When you know you have everything already figured out, you'll be more prepared and eager to face the day. (Again, in theory.)
3. An easy one - go to sleep earlier
This sounds so obvious, but it's not easy to break bad habits! If you're like me and super into late-night Instagram stalking, mindless YouTube viewing, and casual pinning, the small task of going to sleep earlier can seem insurmountable. Dr. Taz recommended taking it slow. "Move your bedtime earlier in 30 minute increments," she explained. "And don't hit the snooze button more than once." And to that I say, good luck!

An Entire US State Is Finally Recognizing That Dads Change Diapers, So Bring on the Changing Tables
An entire US state is finally acknowledging the fact that dads change their kids' diapers while out in public. Following a viral photo of a dad changing his son's diaper on the floor of a public restroom, a New York state law in effect as of Jan. 1, 2019, is mandating that all new and renovated buildings with public bathrooms are required to install changing tables in both women's and men's rooms. This legislation comes on the heels of the same law passed solely in New York City in 2017.
The law was first announced last April by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who said that the "legislation supports our efforts to make New York the nation's model for working parents, and helps make it a stronger, fairer, and more equal state for all."
Senator Brad Hoylman added at the time: "It's not just moms who change diapers. Dads need to step up and do their part of the dirty work, too. By including my bill for requiring baby changing stations in both male and female restrooms in the final budget, Governor Cuomo and the legislature are taking an important step in recognizing changing parental norms, including a new generation of gay dads like me who no longer should have to change their babies on the bathroom floor because there's no changing station in the men's restroom."
Despite this win for New York, there's still a ways to go - 49 more states, to be exact. Here's hoping that dads' public restroom frustrations can come to an end entirely in 2019.
Why You Should Start Couple's Therapy Now Instead of Waiting For Problems
When my husband and I got engaged 10 years ago, we decided to get married in the church where both my grandparents and parents had exchanged vows (sweet, right?!). We were not expecting that super-traditional choice to lead us to an ultra-modern female pastor who was only slightly older than us and who agreed to marry us under one condition: we'd do some serious premarital counseling with her beforehand.
Having always been intrigued by the idea of therapy, I was totally game, and luckily my soon-to-be husband was, too. We spent six sessions discussing how we envisioned our lives together unfolding, including how we wanted to deal with finances, where we wanted to live, how many children we wanted to have, and what we wanted our careers to look like. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, proving to me that I was marrying the right person and that our communication skills - the glue I was sure would make our marriage last a lifetime - were solid.
We kept our heads down for so long, forging ahead, that when we finally looked up, we could hardly see each other.
And so, with our pastor/counselor's blessing, we got married in a blissful ceremony on a perfect day, both believing our relationship was bulletproof. And then, two weeks later, I got pregnant. Nine months and a few days after we exchanged vows, we welcomed our daughter to the world. Four months later, we moved from the large city where we met, had built careers, and had countless friendships to a suburb where we knew no one. Nine months after that, we moved again to another suburb, where we had to build another support system. I got pregnant again. I quit my job. My husband became the breadwinner while I became a stay-at-home mom. We had discussed all these things in our premarital counseling as possibilities - ones we'd said we would embrace fully - but living them? That was totally different.
Our relationship suffered while we did the exhausting work of raising two children while maintaining careers, a home, friendships, relationships with family members, and our own mental health. We kept our heads down for so long, forging ahead, that when we finally looked up, we could hardly see each other. There was a great divide between us; we'd dug it ourselves without realizing we were doing so.
And that's when we went back to therapy, almost too late, but thankfully, not. It wasn't as easy the second time around. We weren't just discussing hypothetical life plans with heart-shaped stars in our eyes. We had lived those plans and created a real, messy life together. Our understanding of each other and our limitations was clearer. We had resentments. We blamed each other for things, both unfairly and justly. We had, individually and despite still loving each other immensely, imagined whether life would be easier without our marriage. But, at the heart of it all, we wanted to find our way back to each other.
I truly don't think we would have been able to do so without our therapist. It was a lot of work, unpacking our top-line complaints ("she isn't affectionate enough," "he's irritable and short-tempered") and getting to the root of our problems, both as a couple and individually. Yes, we had to talk a lot about our childhoods and our relationships with our own parents. Truthfully, after starting counseling it got worse - much worse - before it got much, much better.
I have to wonder that, if we would have stuck to counseling throughout our marriage and not taken such a long break, if things would have gotten so dire. We still would have had problems, I'm sure, but facing them and dealing with them before they had time to grow and take root surely would have helped prevent them from getting so big that they threatened to destroy us.
And because I believe that so greatly, we've vowed to never take that long of a hiatus from therapy again. Even in the best of times, having a neutral, caring, insightful person to help you navigate current issues while warning you of potential ones is invaluable. A good therapist knows the human condition. They know the pitfalls that come with being a person who has decided to commit to another human being for life. And they can help guide a couple through those rocky waters, and maybe, just maybe, they won't be so rocky after all.
