Donald Trump Welcomes the Clemson Tigers With a Buffet of Fast Food at the White House

The Clemson Tigers won the national college football championship on Jan. 7, and the White House hosted them to celebrate on Jan. 14. To mark the occasion, the president and White House staff set up a candlelit dinner with silver platters of . . . fast food. Silver platters of fast food. Fast foo - am I in the twilight zone? Sadly, I am not. The dinner for the national champs was an array of Big Macs, McDonald's chicken nuggets and dipping sauces, and items from Wendy's and Burger King; "Great American food," as Trump put it.

"I like it all. I like it all. It's all good stuff, great American food. And it's going to be very interesting to see at the end of this evening how many are left," POTUS said. When he spoke earlier in the day about his plans for the fast-food feast, he said, "I would think that's their favorite food."

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders weighed in on the decision, saying a lot of the White House staff is furloughed (and not getting paid) during the ongoing government shutdown, and that Trump gave of his own bounty in providing the meal. "Much of the residence staff at the White House is furloughed," Sanders said, "so the president is personally paying for the event to be catered with some of everyone's favorite fast foods."

It's no secret that fast food is a big part of Trump's diet, but to serve it at a celebratory dinner for a big group of world-class athletes? Interesting choice. See more photos and reactions to this gourmet feast ahead.

The above-water portion houses a bedroom and bathroom with panoramic windows, an outer deck with an infinity pool, a kitchen, and a dining area. Meanwhile, 16 feet directly below, the underwater level boasts a king-sized bed, living area, and bathroom with up-close-and-personal views of coral and fish living in the Indian Ocean. *Cue "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid*

Every Disney Fan Should Complete This Incredible, Edible Bucket List

If you are planning a vacation to Disney World, the abundance of food options across all four parks can be overwhelming, but rest assured that these 28 foods have been well-researched and reviewed in person so you know everything here is 100 percent worth your money (and the calories). Expect this list to be a little sweet, partially covered in gooey cheese, and just a tad bit spiked, for those partaking. No Disney trip is complete without scouting out the best foods!

I've Been on 67 Solo Flights With My Toddler - Here's What I've Learned

The first time I flew with my daughter, Lucy, was when she was 4 months old, and it was a four-hour direct flight from New York City to Denver. I was so panicked from the endless parenting threads on Facebook about airport disasters, mean flight attendants, and packing lists that I decided to do a dry run the day before. For four hours, I sat in the corner of my local coffee shop with Lucy hanging out on my lap. And you know what? Nothing happened.

And nothing happened on that first plane ride, either. As a single mom, I was always the only one traveling with her, and I always had her in my lap. Children are free (with the exception of taxes for international flights) as lap infants until their second birthday, and I wanted to maximize our savings while we could.

At 3 1/2, my daughter has now been on 63 flights. That's counting connections and puddle-hoppers and international and domestic trips. And even when it's stressful, I remind myself how lucky I am to be traveling with my favorite plus-one. Some perspective: the worst flight I ever took was when I was in my 20s, hungover and sad from a breakup and sure I was going to throw up. Even a flight with a cranky toddler I love is a million times better than that sad, nausea-inducing flight - and I try to remember that whenever we hit a rough patch.

I know that my daughter represents a grand sample size of one. But I also know how scared I was before that first flight and wish there had been words of encouragement in the midst of all the praying emoji on those Facebook groups. Here's what I've learned.

  • Altitude isn't some sort of attitude changer. In general, I think how infants behave on land is how they behave in the air. Sure, there are air pressure changes, which can cause discomfort (which can be minimized by breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or sucking on a pacifier), but in general, kids don't go through some profound personality change just because they're at 45,000 feet.
  • You don't need a seat for your child. Sure, it's nice to have. But you truly can sit for seven or eight hours with a 30-pound child sprawled on your lap. Use each other as pillows!
  • You need two extra changes of clothes for them . . . and for you. Feeling poop leak onto your jeans and being powerless to stop it because the seat belt sign is lit is a million times worse when you know there are no clean jeans in your future.
  • You don't need a ton of toys. On one trip from New York to California when my daughter was about 1 1/2, I had been in such a hurry that I hadn't packed any toys. We had a mini stuffed pony, a toothbrush, and some stickers. Was it the best flight ever? No. Did we make it where we needed to be? Sure did.
  • You don't need to give presents to your seatmates. I don't believe in goody bags to apologize for an infant on board. I do believe in a friendly smile, an introduction, and recognizing we are all just trying to get from point A to point B.
  • Try to have fun in the terminal. You're going somewhere! It's an adventure! I grab food, let my daughter pick a treat at the news kiosk, and just generally de-stress and walk around. When my daughter was crawling, I tried not to worry about germs as she crawled around the gate. My philosophy: the more tired they are at the gate, the more tired they'll be on the plane.
  • It's OK to judiciously play the kid card. Sometimes, having a kid with you works better than Global Entry. In general, I've found that asking for what you need politely and respectfully can help you get it - including allowing you to a skip a line.

Finally, and I think this is the biggest thing I'm still learning: your experience is different than your child's experience. You might be stressed about flight delays and gate changes, but they could be totally chill. For example, when my daughter and I were waiting for an endlessly delayed flight from Budapest to London, I was checking my watch, trying to assess how many hours we would have to sleep when and if we ever got to our hotel. She had found a little girl about the same age as her and had begun happily playing with her Peppa Pig figurines. For her, a delay was fun. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm trying to find that perspective.

It's not all sunshine, rainbows, and clear skies. Some flights will become family legend. But I think the best thing to aim for is an unremarkable trip. But you don't need the gear, the note cards, or the precision-level planning to have an amazing trip with your child. Just enjoy the ride.

This iPhone Keyboard Feature Makes Typing With 1 Hand a Piece of Cake

In today's edition of "Things I Didn't Know Until 10 Minutes Ago," yet another iPhone hack that makes me question everything I've ever known about technology has been unearthed. As someone who regularly finds herself with only one free hand, I was thrilled to stumble across this simple trick that makes one-handed typing 10 times easier.

As highlighted by Twitter user @thatoneperra, iPhones have a feature that allows users to shift the keyboard to one side of the screen to make one-handed typing less difficult. The user tweeted about the hack back in November with a video demonstrating how it works: you simply hold the emoji key on your keyboard before shifting the entire keyboard to the left or right, depending on which hand you're typing with. Not only does the feature help people with limited mobility, but it's also great for those who run into the problems that come with having a large iPhone and small hands.

The feature was obviously news to me, but iPhones have actually included the keyboard-shift capability since 2017. Better to be late to the party than to never show up, right? Get a quick look at how the trick works in the video above.

Did You Know the iPhone Has a Magnifier Tool? Until Now, Neither Did We

Picture this: You're on an amazing date, you forgot your glasses at home, the menu comes, and it's a blurry mess of words. You already said, "I'll have what he's having," on the previous date, so the panic ensues. The iPhone's handy flashlight can only do so much in a dimly lit restaurant, so what you really need is a magnifying glass. Well, drumroll, please . . . there's one hiding right on your phone! Twitter user geo_jones_ recently brought this underrated iPhone feature to our attention, writing, "I was today years old when I found out there was a magnifier glass on the iPhone." Us too, Geoffrey; us too.

For all the times you've squinted to read tiny instructions or missed delicious side dishes hiding on the bottom of a menu, the Magnifier is here to save you, and it zooms in a lot further than your camera. To turn on the function, go to Settings, General, Accessibility, and Magnifier, and toggle it to "on." Voila! You can also add the tool to your Control Center for easy access.

According to CNBC, if you have an iPhone X or later version, triple tap the button on the right-hand side of your phone to use the tool. If you have an iPhone with a Home button, tap it three times to access the magnifying glass. You can even capture a picture while zooming, because you know you're going to need those laundry instructions again later. Ahead, see how to use the Magnifier tool, and see how people across the internet are reacting to discovering this awesome feature.

20 Microaggressions Transgender People Are Tired of Hearing

Conventional wisdom tells us that backhanded compliments are not cute - as a matter of fact, they are not compliments at all. They're nothing more than thinly disguised insults, and when it comes to marginalized groups, they're frequently microaggressions. By definition, a microaggression is a comment or action that expresses a prejudiced attitude toward a member of a marginalized group.

I am a black transgender woman, and I face these microaggressions daily, while scrolling through Tinder or simply walking down a sidewalk minding my own business. Microaggressions surrounding my gender identity can come in the form of "I didn't know you were trans, you look just like a woman!" or "You're cute for a trans!" - lest we forget that the word transgender is not a noun or a verb and therefore should not be used with such incorrect and offensive grammar.

I am also a transgender woman with passing privilege and one who is garnered conventionally pretty. However, although these conventional privileges allow me safer access to spaces that others within my community may not be awarded, I am doubly marginalized as a black person and transgender woman. If I am not clocked as transgender, I still face the various microaggressions that come with being a black girl; expressions such as "you're pretty for a black girl" or "what are you mixed with?" or harassment such as touching my hair or questioning my intellect on a given subject.

These types of microaggressions aren't just situational to me but to the transgender community as a whole. Every day, cisgender people harass my community with these forms of microaggression - even if it's unintentional. With that in mind, I asked people in the transgender and nonconforming community to share microaggressions they have experienced at least once in their lifetimes in the hopes of educating everyone on what qualifies as a compliment - and what's downright offensive.

I Was Today Years Old When I Learned This iPhone Hack For Closing All Safari Tabs at Once

If you're anything like me, you collect iPhone Safari tabs like it's your freakin' job. A handful of Thai restaurant menus here and a few randomly googled celebrity factoids there, and next thing you know, you're 174 tabs deep and in serious need of a cleanse. Sound familiar?

Luckily, you don't have to cramp up your thumb while exiting out of your endless tabs, because there's a little-known iPhone and iPad feature that lets you delete 'em all at once - yes, really! As pointed out by Twitter user Joey Taralson, all you have to do is open up your Safari app and hold down the tab icon in the lower right-hand corner until a window pops up giving you options to close all your tabs, close just the current one, open a new private tab, or open a regular tab. Genius!

As it turns out, Joey isn't the only one who's just now discovering this nifty tab-closing shortcut. Tons of people have recently tweeted in amazement while sharing the trick with their equally mind-blown followers. It's safe to say this feature is a total game changer, just like that handy-dandy space bar hack that went viral last year, despite the fact that it's been around for ages.

This Couple Adopted a 33-Pound Cat With Thumbs - and He’s So Dang Cute It Hurts

When Bronson the cat met his new owners, Mike and Megan, he weighed 33 pounds and was in their local Humane Society shelter because his previous owner had passed away. Because Mike and Megan were drawn to Bronson immediately and fell in love with him just as quickly, they were committed to adopting Bronson to help him get healthy. Nearly nine months later, Bronson is well on his way to hitting his goals.

"When we adopted him, they asked us to wait on switching his food because of the stress of moving into his new home," Mike told POPSUGAR. "For the first couple of months, his weight loss was minimal because of needing to wean him off of his kibble and onto his grain-free, meat-based wet food diet. We took him into his vet right after we brought him home and had they gave us an exact number of calories to give him daily. It's been a bit tricky keeping track of his calories, because we have three other cats that are used to sharing food. Since we brought him home, he's lost a total of 5.4 pounds and we're really hoping things continue in this direction."

Since adopting Bronson - who happens to be a polydactyl cat, meaning he has pronounced thumbs in addition to his paws! - Mike and Megan have been sharing his progress on his Instagram account, @iambronsoncat. "Bronson's accumulated a large following, and they are amazingly supportive, give us advice, share their stories, and cheer him on. We really want to use the account to help raise awareness to feline obesity and the importance of a proper diet."

See some photos of Bronson below, from the early days after his adoption to now!

The Punisher and Jigsaw Prepare For the Ultimate Showdown in Explosive Season 2 Trailer

In case you were worried that Marvel's The Punisher would follow the same cancellation fate as Luke Cage or Daredevil, Netflix is here to assuage your fears - at least for now. Not only do we have a premiere date for the series' second season - Friday, Jan. 18 - we also have a seriously intense trailer!

Netflix first dropped a brief teaser on Tuesday, New Year's Day before announcing the Jan. 18 release date on Jan. 3. A week after that, the streaming service released the official full trailer on Jan. 10. The full trailer reveals Frank Castle's new mission after the short teaser showed him burning up the official presidential pardon he received, thanks to his agreement with Homeland Security from last season. The trailer gives a glimpse at the Billy Russo's mad transformation into Jigsaw and Frank's return to his deadly ways. From the level of violence shown in the trailer, it's obvious that whenever the two meet again, it won't be pretty.

Punisher's first season follows Frank on his gruesome crusade for vengeance, as well as the tragic backstory that prompts it. This time around, Frank's out of the city and out of personal vendettas to declare war for. Somehow, despite being on a "vacation from violence," he finds his way back into trouble to confront new and old enemies, with the addition of a new teenage sidekick, Amy (Giorgia Whigham).

Considering Netflix has already canceled three of its other Marvel series - including Iron Fist - the upcoming season gives Frank fans a little bit of hope. Still, the fate of Punisher and Jessica Jones, which was renewed for a third season back in April 2018, is very much up in the air. For now though, we eagerly await for Frank to get back to business on Jan. 18.

You: A Breakdown of Every Twisted Thing That Happens in the Book

Caroline Kepnes's bestselling thriller You has made its way to the small screen, and it's just as unsettling as its book counterpart. The series stars Penn Badgley as Joe, a New York City bookstore manager who becomes more and more obsessed with a young woman, Beck (Elizabeth Lail), who comes into his store one day. Over the course of a few months, Joe's obsession with Beck reaches horrifying heights, resulting in things like breaking and entering, stealing underwear, and even murder.

Badgley's version of Joe may not quite come off as menacing as the character in Kepnes's story - likely because he doesn't have a cute little neighbor to take care of in the book, which helps humanize him - but the psycho stalker lurking within him is definitely still there. If you're interested in finding out how the story unfolds in the book, keep reading. But be warned: spoilers on spoilers ahead!

20 Years Later, Look Back at Britney Spears's First Year as a Pop Icon

You never forget where you were during a truly historic moment, so yes, of course I remember what I was doing the first time I heard ". . . Baby One More Time." At age 11, my hair likely pulled back with butterfly clips, I was in a hotel room with my mom listening to Radio Disney as we got ready for dinner. The song played, I flipped out, and I insisted we change our plans and order room service so we could stay in the room, keep listening to the radio, and hear it again.

". . . Baby One More Time" came out in late 1998, and the following January, Britney released her album of the same name. That's right, ladies and gentlemen, it's been 20 years since Britney Jean Spears dropped the . . . Baby One More Time album and seemingly became a pop icon overnight. That year, she was everywhere: award shows, Disney concerts, TV specials, you name it. We belted her songs, learned her choreography, and obsessed over the rumor that she might be dating *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake, which - #neverforget - was confirmed the following year.

In 1999, Britney's first album hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It's the year she kicked off her first tour, and the year of that Rolling Stone cover. It's the year the "Sometimes" video made turtleneck crop tops happen and the year "(You Drive Me) Crazy" blessed us with an iconic music video to go along with a teen movie starring Melissa Joan Hart. In other words, 1999 was a BIG year for Britney, so two decades later, let's relive some of the highlights with a whole bunch of nostalgic photos that will take you right back to Britney's beginnings.

Rami Malek and Lucy Boynton Are Killing the Couple Style Game, and Gosh We Love Them

It's only been a week since Rami Malek officially confirmed his romance with Lucy Boynton, and it looks like they're already killing the couple style game. While heading to Jimmy Kimmel Live for Rami's late-night appearance, the Bohemian Rhapsody costars and real-life lovers coordinated in black-and-white outfits, thus proving they're a match made in rock 'n' roll heaven.

Mary Austin - er, I mean Lucy - wore a colorblock zip-up blouse with black skinny jeans, platform shoes, and a Celine by Hedi Slimane bag, while Rami looked sharp in a striped collared shirt, bomber jacket, trousers, and white-soled sneakers. I mean, seriously, does it get any cuter than Queen twinning with his queen? (Sorry, I couldn't resist at least one corny Freddie Mercury pun!) Keep reading to see the power couple looking like two peas in a fashionable pod, and then shop similar colorblock pieces to mimic Lucy's chic outfit.

Is Breakfast Really the Most Important Meal of the Day? Here's What 4 Dietitians Say

It's sound advice we heard from our moms since we were little: eat breakfast; it's the most important meal of the day. As we got older, that advice evolved into "if you eat breakfast, you're less likely to feel famished and gorge at lunchtime." It was a tried-and-true trick for people looking to lose weight; a small randomized trial in 1992 found that eating breakfast helped minimize impulsive snacking and "therefore may be an important part of a weight-reduction program." And a 2003 review published in the American Journal of Epidemiology also found that skipping breakfast was associated with an increased prevalence of obesity.

As time and nutrition advice evolved, we had to wonder: is breakfast all it's cracked up to be? It's supposed to give you energy and fuel you for the long day ahead, but people who practice intermittent fasting (IF) swear by the health benefits of forgoing breakfast and only eating during an eight-hour window, usually just lunch and dinner.

Although breakfast is important when you're a kid so you can pay attention during school and aren't starving by lunchtime, our habits and appetites evolve as we get older. What if you just aren't hungry when you wake up or don't care for eggs and avocado toast? We spoke to four dietitians, who broke it down for us.

The Health Benefits of Eating Breakfast

If you wake up dreaming of eggs, bacon, and toast, there's no need to change your breakfast-loving ways. "Every meal is important, but breakfast does provide energy for morning activities as well as glucose for the brain," sports dietitian Cindy Dallow, PhD, RD, told POPSUGAR. Plus, eating soon after you wake up ensures that your blood sugar will be stabilized throughout the day, explained Elora Bazanele, RD, LD, founder of Love Food B Fit. "Eating breakfast can help prevent us from overeating at other meals and can help to ensure that we get all the nutrients that our bodies need to conquer the day," Bazanele told POPSUGAR.

Of course, what you eat for breakfast matters; you can't expect to eat doughnuts and croissants for breakfast every day and lose weight. Lauren Harris-Pincus, MS, RDN, author of The Protein-Packed Breakfast Club, recommends eating at least 20 grams of protein at breakfast to help with muscle growth and repair. Loading up on this macronutrient will also ensure that you stay full until your next meal and may even boost your metabolism. Need some inspo? Check out these 21 quick high-protein breakfasts.

What Happens When You Skip Breakfast

Some people just aren't hungry in the morning or practice intermittent fasting, where they eat during an eight-hour window, such as from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. or noon to 8 p.m. Overall, skipping breakfast every once in a while isn't going to hurt you, Dr. Dallow said. "However, skipping breakfast puts you at risk for several things: overeating later on in the day, low energy level later in the morning, [and] low blood sugar level, which can cause lightheadedness." She said people who practice IF may have low energy and feel lightheaded if they fast during the morning, especially when they are just starting out.

Dr. Dallow explained that if you're just not hungry in the morning, it could be from eating too much the night before; getting into a cycle of eating a large meal at night and nothing in the morning could set you up for an eating pattern where you consume more calories than you should because it's easier to eat more at night.

If you do practice IF, you may want to shift your eating window so you get some calories earlier in the day, like from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Final Verdict

All in all, it's up to you. There's no real black-and-white answer for the great breakfast debate. "If you find eating breakfast starts you off on the right foot, then eat it," registered dietitian Laura Ligos, MBA, RDN, told POPSUGAR. "If, however, you find you are forcing yourself to eat breakfast but are not hungry, then you may not need breakfast and can wait until later in the morning to [eat]. You need to eat enough to fuel your day, but you should never force yourself to eat."

In 2014, a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that whether people ate or skipped breakfast had "no discernible effect on weight loss" for adults who were attempting to lose weight, and in 2016 the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics put out a position paper stating that, overall, consuming breakfast doesn't improve weight-loss outcomes and that it boils down to each person's nutritional needs. And while children and adolescents should still eat breakfast, both for brain and overall health benefits, you don't need to eat your morning meal as an adult unless you want to.

There are some groups who should regularly eat breakfast, such as those with diabetes who need to regulate their blood sugar or if you take specific medications that need to be consumed with food. Otherwise, it's best to talk to your doctor or a registered dietitian to find a plan that works best for you. You shouldn't force-feed yourself a meal as soon as you wake up if you aren't hungry, but you shouldn't skip breakfast if it's something you enjoy that keeps you feeling satisfied. Listen to your hunger cues and make the best decision that fits your lifestyle.

Ignite Your Abdominal Muscles With This 4-Move Core-Strengthening Workout

If you've already mastered essential core-strengthening exercises like the plank, you may be looking to upgrade your ab routine with a workout that will ignite your abdominal muscles. If that's the case, you're in the right spot.

Adding weight to ab exercises requires you to stabilize your abdominal muscles even more while putting those muscles under tension, which will help strengthen them. The more consistent you are with adding weighted ab exercises into your routine, the higher your chances of being able to see your abdominal muscles, if that's what you're after.

Also, as a friendly reminder, ab exercises alone don't burn belly fat. If your goal is to lower your body fat percentage, which is essential to seeing your abs, you're going to need to exercise (strength training is key), make sure your nutrition is on point, get quality sleep, and do recovery work.

Meghan's Chic Color Clash Will Have You Rethinking Your Next Winter Outfit

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle traveled north to Birkenhead, England, on Monday for a number of engagements in the Merseyside town. As usual, their royal visit included trips to a number of community projects, but it began with a visit to view a new statue by artist Jim Whelan that marks the 100th anniversary of poet Wilfred Owen's death. For the occasion, the Duchess of Sussex surprised us with a bold and unexpected color clash. She teamed a bright red belted coat by Canadian brand Sentaler with a purple midi dress believed to be the Maxwell dress by Babaton. Red heels and a tan Gabriela Hearst handbag finished this eye-catching look.

The duchess has tended to opt for black or neutral hues for public engagements before, but perhaps Meghan has been taking a leaf out of the queen's book by choosing a bright color that's easily spotted in the crowd? She definitely made a statement as she stepped out to meet the members of the public who'd waited in the cold for their royal moment. Take a closer look at her bright and beautiful outfit ahead.

It's Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's First Outing This Year, Not That We Were Counting

Though Meghan has been busy with her patronages over the past few days, we couldn't be happier to get a glimpse of the adorable couple as they attended their first royal engagement of 2019 as a couple.

On Monday morning, Harry and Meghan took a trip to Birkenhead, England, to visit local organizations and projects within the community. First, they stopped by Hamilton Square to see a new sculpture by Jim Whelan titled "Futility" that marks the 100th anniversary of poet Wilfred Owen's death. From there, they will meet Tomorrow's Women Wirral, an organization that supports vulnerable women. Their final stop will be Hive Wirral Youth Zone, where they'll meet young people who take part in community projects.

Ahead, get a look at all the sweet moments from Harry and Meghan's outing.

How to Do Disney in a Day

Since my almost 4-year-old daughter, Mae, started her obsession with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Tangled, Monsters Inc., and pretty much everything else Disney, I'd been looking forward to our first trip to Disney World, especially the Magic Kingdom, which she considers home to all her favorite friends. But while today's Disney still features a lot of the rides I loved when I was her age, the process of visiting them seems to have become exponentially more complicated . . . and expensive.

We debated how best to introduce Mae to the magic of Disney, but since we were already going to be in Florida (a couple hours south of Orlando) over Winter break, we decided to couple the trips and hit the park in one whirlwind day. It took some planning, but all in all, I think it was the perfect first Disney experience.

Here's what I learned from our trip.

  • Prioritize and strategize well in advance. For a 3-year-old, the Magic Kingdom is the Holy Grail, so we focused on spending as much time there as possible. That meant getting on the road before the sun came up so we could arrive close to the park's 8 a.m. opening, when ride wait times are much lower. We also decided to stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort, which is a quick 10-minute walk to the Magic Kingdom and the first stop back on the monorail. It was a pricey decision, yes, but worth it because we didn't waste any time on transportation.
  • Book everyone's FastPass+ ASAP. If you're staying at a Disney resort, you'll get one of those nifty MagicBands, which entitle you to score FastPass+ reservations (they let you skip the general line) for three attractions 60 days before you arrive. Use these wisely. On the day we went, the longest waits were, by far, for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, for Peter Pan's Flight, and (shocker) to meet Anna and Elsa. I scored FastPass+ for both rides but missed the boat for Anna and Elsa, even though I booked our reservations about an hour after my window opened. Instead, I reserved a time to meet Cinderella and Rapunzel, another hot ticket.

Try to make all of your FastPass+ reservations as early in the day of your visit as you can. Once you use all three, you'll be able to hit up one of the FastPass+ kiosks in the park and make additional reservations. Since our three reservations were all between 9:45 and 12:50, we had plenty of time to score two more of those golden tickets, which allowed us to skip the lines at the Little Mermaid and Winnie the Pooh rides. Tip: if the FastPass+ system overwhelms you, don't worry. Book your online reservations early, and once you get to the park, find one of the countless cast members and ask for help. They're all eager to do so.

  • Stay on property. For us, this was a big one, since we knew we'd probably need a place to take an afternoon break, which we did from about 3:30 to 5 p.m. (Weirdly, both my husband and I took a catnap while our daughter watched more Disney shows on her iPad.) As I said, the Contemporary was great for us because of its vicinity to Magic Kingdom and because it offers a character breakfast with Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Pluto, and Goofy at Chef Mickey's, which we went to the next morning, after some pool time and before heading home.
  • Rent or bring a stroller. Even if your child has long outgrown stroller mode, you'll be surprised at how much time she'll spend in it while at the park. My husband's pedometer logged 22,000 steps on the day we spent at the Magic Kingdom, which is at least seven miles of walking. We rented a single stroller ($15 a day; double strollers are $31), and while parking it for every attraction was a bit of a pain, it was either that or carry our 40-pounder, and we still did plenty of that while waiting for rides.
  • Download the My Disney Experience app. The app will let you manage your previsit FastPass+ and dining reservations (make them, and - just a tip - Be Our Guest is the only restaurant in the park that serves alcohol), find park amenities easily, and, most importantly, track all attraction wait times. While some rides' wait times will remain consistently long; others are surprisingly variable. Be smart about your time, and go to the rides with lower wait times while you're waiting for the FastPass+ you hopefully scored for more-popular attractions. We found that any line with a 20-minute wait time or less seemed to go pretty quickly.
  • If you can, leave babies at home. One of the greatest advantages of going to Disney for just a day was that we were able to find child care for our 11-month-old easily. I love the little guy, but he is definitely not ready for a nonstop 13-hour day of Disney fun, and from the faces of the many infants and babies I saw at the park, he's pretty typical. If you're deciding whether to bring a baby with you or wait until both of your kids are older to make your first visit to Magic Kingdom, I'd say wait. Everyone will have more fun.
  • Remember: for preschoolers, a little Disney is still a lot of fun. Before we left for our crazy Disney day, my mom said to me, "Even if she only goes on three rides, it will still be one of the greatest days of her life." Though we probably made it to 11 or 12, Mom, as usual, was right. We managed to ride on most of the big attractions, but my daughter's favorite parts of our day were riding Dumbo, eating popcorn, and buying a princess Rapunzel dress. (Even if you're like me and cringe at the Disney princess dresses, you can't help but love that a huge number of Disney employees will greet your child with a bow and a "hello, little princess" when she's wearing one.)

So don't stress out too much about planning your trip perfectly. While some strategizing is definitely necessary, your kids will have a fantastic time regardless of whether you make it on every ride, catch every parade, and have the perfect viewing spot for the fireworks. In fact, if they're anything like my little one, they might just sleep through the last one.

The Secret to Nicole Kidman's Critics' Choice Awards Beauty Look Costs $6

You too can have eyelashes like Nicole Kidman.

The actress arrived at the Critics' Choice Awards with smoky eyes and an ethereal, peachy glow - reminiscent of the one she had as Queen Atlanna in 2018's Aquaman - framed by her cascading blond waves. But what was most eye-catching about her red carpet look was her set of long, fluttering lashes, which her makeup artist Kate Synnott said was on purpose. "Nicole's beautiful dress had [a] classic mod vibe to it, so we went for a Brigitte Bardot-inspired look with a little extra drama on the lashes," she told POPSUGAR. Kidman wore KISS Lash Couture ($6), faux mink lashes that only cost $6. "I used both the small and medium on Nicole to give a modern '60s look! I always fill in the gaps with the short, and then build on top - every second lash - with medium lashes for extra drama and volume."

We Were Already Obsessed With Emmy Rossum's Lipstick, but Wait Till You See Her Hair

Emmy Rossum already looked red hot at the Critics' Choice Awards, but it wasn't until she turned around that the Shameless actress truly made a statement. The 32-year-old's dark brown hair was slicked back tightly and gathered into an elaborate updo featuring two stacked buns. While Rossum already mastered the red carpet look with her vampy plum lips, dewy skin, and perfectly groomed eyebrows, her hair deserved an award of its own.

Lady Gaga Did Something Totally Unexpected With Her Beauty Look on the Red Carpet

Lady Gaga arrived to the Critics' Choice Awards making a statement, but it's probably not the statement you were expecting. The actress graced the red carpet without colorful hair, dramatic makeup, or even a bold lip, but instead a stripped-back minimalistic look. Maybe the singer and actress is refining her style in honor of her potential accolades for A Star Is Born, but regardless, she looked stunning. Check out Gaga's old Hollywood waves and natural makeup from every angle, ahead.

Sandra Oh Is the Only Person We Know Who Can Pull Off Tightly Curled Bangs

Sandra Oh's Critics' Choice Awards hairstyle has serious bounce. The Killing Eve actress - who recently made award show history at the Golden Globes - showed up at the ceremony with bangs that were cut straight across and curled into springy ringlets. "I cut bangs on her and tonight is the debut," hairstylist Ted Gibson told POPSUGAR. That, along with her tousled curls (which Gibson created by just "enhancing her natural texture") framed her glowy skin and nude lips for the evening.

The Unexpected Secret to Gemma Chan’s Hair at the Critics’ Choice Awards: Dry Shampoo

This Crazy Rich Asians star's textured braid at The Critics' Choice Awards was created using drugstore hair products.

Gemma Chan's hairstylist for the evening, Clariss Rubenstein, used two $5 dry shampoos from Dove to achieve her look. "I used a one-inch barrel curling iron to create loose waves, added Dove Care Between Washes Volume and Fullness Dry Shampoo ($5) at the root and crown, and Dove Care Between Washes Invisible Dry Shampoo ($5) all over the hair to create tons of texture," Rubenstein, who's a brand partner, said. "Her hair is dark, and the red carpet cameras tend to pick up on product residue, so the Dove Care Between Washes Invisible Dry Shampoo was key in giving her look some seamless texture." She then started a low braid at the nape of Chan's neck, and added a black ribbon at the top and bottom of it as a final touch.

Wait a Minute, Constance Wu Has Bangs and They Look Hot

Constance Wu always looks stunning, but when you see how she arrived on the Critics' Choice Awards red carpet, you'll do a double take. The Crazy Rich Asians actress got one of the year's trendiest cuts, baby bangs, and she's certainly pulling off the short, wispy style. She paired her new sleek hair with an apricot-hue lip and cheek, and looked like a total angel floating down the red carpet. Get inspiration for your next cut, ahead.

The Bachelor's Makeup Artist Explains Colton Underwood's $575 Skin Care Routine

Before the world delves into which contestants are there for the "right" reasons, or whether it's harder to compete on reality TV than in the NFL, let's first address the elephant in the room with this season's The Bachelor: Colton Underwood is extremely disciplined . . . with his skincare routine. (Wait, that's where you were going too, right?)

This is in part due to good genes, but there's also a beauty godmother working her magic behind the scenes - and luckily for us, the show's longtime makeup artist Gina Modica isn't waiting until the Women Tell All to divulge her secrets.

"I only saw Colton a few times a week for the rose ceremonies, so he was on his own when it came to day-to-day grooming."

"Before every new season, I always go over with the Bachelor or Bachelorette which looks they're comfortable with, and we talk about how we're going to maintain them," she told POPSUGAR. "I'm with our Bachelorettes every day, so it's easy to keep the look, but the Bachelors are on their own during dates. I only saw Colton a few times a week for the rose ceremonies, so he was on his own when it came to day-to-day grooming."

That means keeping up with his facial scruff and skin regimen was key ("The better they are at maintenance, the easier it makes my job as far as makeup is concerned," Modica said), which she claims Underwood handled with aplomb. Maybe the ex-football player noticed the antioxidant-packed serum reduced his stress-related redness, or maybe he just felt fancy slathering on $575-worth of products at the Bachelor Mansion.

Either way, it sounds like he's on the right path to following Chris Harrison's footsteps, who - spoiler alert - "will not age this season . . . again."

My Teeth Whitener Is Only $11, and Even My Dentist Comments on My Pearly Smile

As a broke future beauty editor in 2013, I was a college student without a whole lot of spending money for cosmetics. I spent hours on YouTube researching the most affordable and effective products so I could indulge my beauty obsession while still being able to afford groceries. While watching a Kandee Johnson video, she revealed that she used Plus White Five Minute Whitening Gel ($11) to get her teeth white. Curious, I ran to the drugstore and picked up the white tube, and I have been using it ever since. You can apply it with a cotton swab, but I usually just swipe it on with my fingers. The gel works so well that I even got a compliment from my dentist on my bright, shiny teeth.

While the name is "five minute white," the directions actually instruct you to leave the gel on your teeth for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing. After a few times of using it, you can keep your teeth from getting stained by touching it up with five-minute sessions of whitening. While this tube used to be a little hard to find, it's now available on Amazon, so it can be sent straight to your door in no time. So sip your coffee and red wine with abandon!

My Dad Was a Committed Blood Donor. Now, I Give to Honor His Memory

My skinny twig of a dad played rugby. When I was young, my family's social life revolved around the matches. For me it was all about pretending to watch the games, playing with other kids in the corn fields next to the rugby pitch, post-game chili feasts, and all the general revelry that accompanies rugby. The team was tight; it felt like a brotherhood.

When the Red Cross called our house regularly to schedule blood donation appointments with my dad, it made perfect sense, since his Chevy proudly displayed a bumper sticker that read "Give blood. Play rugby." My kid logic simply connected those two activities; I thought my dad donated blood every six weeks with his rugby team. Yeah, I have since figured out there was no such connection, but I must admit, it took longer than one would have anticipated.

My dad never told me why he was dedicated to this form of charitable giving. I never asked. Maybe it had to do with serving in the Navy for five years as a young man. He did brag that he had really good blood, once, in a small attempt at machismo, which was not really part of his personality. When he was diagnosed with cancer and had his blood drawn for tests, his oncologist remarked how healthy he was based on his hemoglobin levels (or something like that). So, even as cancer cells were taking over his body, he blood stayed strong.

He passed away 15 years ago (f*ck cancer), but my sister and I have kept up the mantle. We each try to donate blood two to three times a year - neither of us have been able to match our father's dedication. Each time I fill out the forms, get the pin prick test, and sit in the recliner and squeeze the ball to plump up my vein - through all this I remember my dad. Specifically, I remember him in the small acts of giving from different phases of his life: handing out five-dollar bills to the homeless; giving his pocket change to buskers; picking up kids with no rides to take to soccer practice (and then taking them home); volunteering at the children's hospital, teaching kids with terminal illnesses to tie fishing flies; and cleaning up polluted creeks.

After 15 years, the memories of my dad can feel tenuous, but after the donation process is complete and I get to drink the OJ and eat the doughnuts (his favorite), I feel connected to him. I mentally toast to him with my juice. This is my small memorial to him, and I am pretty sure he'd be proud. We can't all play rugby, but most of us can give blood.
