Drake Might Be Giving His Fans More Life With a Rumored Las Vegas Residency

For fans who attended Drake's recent tour, it seems there will be plenty more social media moments where that came from. The rapper is rumored to be in the process of finalizing a residency at the Wynn resort's XS Nightclub in Las Vegas. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Drake told the audience during a recent appearance at the club, "Vegas! When I came back, I thought it'd be back at T-Mobile Arena." He added, "But I'll be back here at XS all year. You'll have a lotta chances to see me."

Drake has since continued to drop hints, even captioning a photo from the appearance, "New home." (He also tagged Wynn Las Vegas and XS Nightclub in the post.) Though it's certainly big news, Drake isn't the first rapper to have a Las Vegas residency: Pusha T, Big Boi, and T.I. are among the few who have landed residencies recent years, and Snoop Dogg was actually the first hip-hop artist to do it in 2014.

That being said, it's still rare. Artists like Frank Sinatra and Liberace popularized the idea of a concert residency in the 1940s, while Celine Dion and Elton John found massive success with their residencies in the 2000s. The model has gradually become less associated with the twilight years of an artist's career - as evidenced by Lady Gaga and Gwen Stefani's ongoing residencies. If the rumors are true, it looks like they'll have some more company soon.

This Is Us Has Cast Beth's Teacher, and We Don't Know What This Means For Her and Randall

This Is Us fans, now might be the time to panic. After a series of ups and downs for Randall and Beth Pearson in season three, dedicated viewers have been left questioning the fate of this beloved onscreen couple. Now things are about to get even more interesting with the introduction of a new character: Beth's teacher, played by Goran Visnjić.

Visnjić is best known for his roles on ER and Timeless. While the details of his new character, Vincent, are a little fuzzy, we know he'll appear in a later episode that explores Beth's backstory. Could he be her dance teacher from the ominous flash-forward? Or maybe an instructor from her past? Whenever he does make an appearance, let's hope he doesn't spell trouble for Beth and Randall.

Will Netflix Renew Sex Education For a Second Season? Fingers Crossed

If you haven't yet gotten a chance to watch Netflix's Sex Education, then spoiler alert: it's delightful.

The series, which premiered on Jan. 11, is perfect for lovers of coming-of-age shows like Big Mouth or the cult classic Freaks and Geeks. Over the course of eight episodes, a group of English teenagers, lead by socially awkward virgin Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) and misunderstood bad girl Maeve (Emma Mackey), set out to set up an underground sex clinic for their high school classmates. When you mix in the queen herself, Gillian Anderson, as Jean, a sex therapist who happens to be Otis's larger-than-life mother, things start to really get interesting.

Netflix describes the dramedy as a "modern portrayal of sexual and romantic experiences, friendships, and contemporary young-adult life" and a "British love letter to the classic American high school story," and unsurprisingly it's already racked up quite the fan base. So, is the quirky British comedy going to return for a second season, or not?

At the moment, Netflix has yet to announce plans for round two. That being said, there are tons of reasons why a second season makes sense. For starters, the first season finale leaves off with Maeve's future on the line, and sees Adam (Connor Swindells) heading off to military school after hooking up with Eric. On top of that, Otis has overcome his fear of masturbation! How can we possibly go on with our lives without knowing what happens to them?!

Sex Education has been praised by fans for its frank approach to sex and sexuality, as well as all the awkward moments that go hand-in-hand with those themes. People are also on board for its LGBTQ+ representation and the way it approaches thorny subjects like toxic masculinity, mental health, racism, and consent, all while maintaining a strong sense of humor.

We'll be sure to update this post with any new details that become available, including where to get all of the outfits Jean wears throughout the season. (What? They're iconic.)

Spider-Man: Far From Home Will Sling Into Theaters in July

Rejoice, webheads: the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home has arrived! In it, Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) European Summer vacation hits a snag when Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) shows up and informs him that he needs to help stop a new villain on the scene: Mysterio aka Quentin Beck aka Jake Gyllenhaal. So, bye-bye to flirting with MJ (Zendaya) in a bunch of museums, and hello to zooming through the air at top speed over London's Tower Bridge. Sorry, Peter.

Although the trailer is chock-full of exciting details - One-liners from Ned! Sparks flying between Aunt May and Happy! - the most important tidbit comes at the very end of the nearly three solid minutes of new footage. That's right: the release date! Spider-Man: Far From Home will sling into theaters this Summer, on July 5. That means we have roughly six months until we get to see how Peter, MJ, Ned, and even Flash Thompson (spoiler alert: seems like he's still a tool) fare during their adventure across the pond.

Fortunately, there's plenty for superhero fans to obsess over in the meantime: the premiere of both Captain Marvel on March 8 and the final film in the Avengers franchise, Avengers: Endgame, on April 26.

Get to Know Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's 3 Kids Before Baby No. 4 Is Born

The Kardashian-West household is soon going to be a little more full when the family of five adds another little one to the bunch. Kim and Kanye are due to welcome their fourth child in early May, and he (yes, it's a boy!) will join older siblings North, Saint, and Chicago. Like Chicago, the new baby will be born via gestational carrier, and mama Kim is helping out with the pregnancy every step of the way, according to People.

We have no doubt that this new little one will be as adorable and stylish as North, Saint, and Chicago. We also have no doubt that North might pick at her littlest sibling like she does with Saint because, after all, isn't that what big sisters are for? To get to know her - as well as Saint and Chicago - a little better, keep reading, and then let us know what you think Kim and Kanye might name the baby . . . we feel like it'll be something unique again.

Thank the Rom-Com Gods: Noah Centineo and Camila Mendes to Star in Netflix's The Perfect Date

Not only does Noah Centineo seem like he'd be a perfect date IRL, but now he's starring as one in a new Netflix romantic comedy.

On Friday, the streaming giant announced that the To All the Boys I've Loved Before heartthrob will appear in The Perfect Date, a rom-com that will hopefully quench your Peter Kavinsky thirst until the sequel arrives. In the new film, Centineo plays Brooks Rattigan (yes, that's actually his character's name), a high school student trying to raise funds for college. And how does he do so, you might be wondering? "By creating a dating app where he'll 'stand in' for nonexistent boyfriends," Netflix's official logline reads. "But playing a different character every night of the week leads him to question who he really is . . . and who he wants to be with."

The film, which was initially titled The Stand-In, also stars Riverdale's Camila Mendes and Lady Bird's Laura Marano. Judging from the first two stills that have been released so far, Centineo's character will end up in romantic situations with both of them - do we smell another love triangle brewing?!

Until more details and photographic evidence of the Charlie's Angels star continuing to make us melt are shared, check out Netflix's announcement and the first-look images ahead.

Kim Kardashian Finally Ends Her Feud With Taylor Swift: "I Think We've All Moved On"

With just two words, Kim Kardashian seemingly put a decade-long feud behind her. "Over it," Kim told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in response to a question about the high-profile drama between her family and Taylor Swift. Despite the fact that Kim said she hasn't spoken to Taylor, she added, "I feel like we've all moved on."

The feud began back in 2009 when Kanye West infamously interrupted Taylor's MTV VMAs acceptance speech. In recent years, however, Kim has involved herself, frequently coming to the defense of her husband. Though the public enjoyed a momentary truce, Taylor slammed Kanye for his song 2016 "Famous," in which he claims to have made Taylor famous. Everything culminated in a series of videos shared by Kim, which allegedly revealed Taylor approving the lyrics beforehand. Then of course Reputation was born, with its many songs about Kim and Kanye. But it's totally over, everyone!

There might be some truth behind Kim's claim, however. Though much of Taylor's album is about the feud, she didn't make it the focus of her recent tour. When she did address it one tour stop, Taylor referred to it as a learning experience. "I think something that came out of it that was good is that I learned a really important lesson that I've been telling you from the stage for about 10 years," Taylor said, "You shouldn't care so much if you feel misunderstood by a lot of people who don't know you as long as you feel understood by the people who do know you." As for Kanye, well, he's pretty busy with other feuds these days.

Before You See Glass, Here's What You Need to Remember About Unbreakable

The hour is nearly upon us: M. Night Shyamalan's Glass is about to hit theaters, effectively closing the book on a trilogy that's been open for nearly two decades. But in order to really make sense of the film, you might be wondering whether you need to watch the ones that came before it. After all, Unbreakable was released in 2000; can Shyamalan really expect us to remember everything that happened as we go in to watch Glass? Does he expect us to watch or rewatch Unbreakable as preparation for the film?

Well, dear friends, I have a few pieces of good news to tell you. One, I went in to Glass having only seen Split and having never seen Unbreakable, and I was still able to mostly follow along. So, if you wanted to skip the watch/rewatch, you have full license to. More good news: after I saw Glass, I decided to bite the bullet and watch Unbreakable, just to see if it would add any clarity to the final film. So, now I'm here to tell you what you may or may not be missing out on.

The Basic Premise

At the beginning of the film, we meet David Dunn, a man who becomes a news sensation when he's the sole survivor of a cataclysmic train derailment. It quickly becomes apparent that David is superhuman: he's never called in sick to work (and can't even remember ever being sick), he's never been gravely injured, he can bench press more than his body weight in the gym - the list goes on.

David quickly draws the attention of a man named Elijah, who is basically his polar opposite. Elijah was born with a brittle bone disease that makes his limbs break as easily as glass. Being unable to do much for most of his life, Elijah became obsessed with superheros and comic books; they allowed him to escape his own bleak fate. Over time Elijah came to believe that comic books were a secret way of documenting a history of superhumans that have existed throughout time. He also believes David may be a superhero.

Of course, there are some hiccups. David contends that he nearly drowned when he was a kid, and also suffered injuries in a horrible car accident when he was in high school. However, it turns out that he actually didn't get injured in the car wreck. And as for the drowning? Well, water is kind of like his "kryptonite," it seems.

Over the course of the film, David eventually embraces his abilities. He has another gift, a secret sense of touch that allows him to catch a "glimpse" of the person he comes in contact with. A sort of "spidey sense," if you will. By the climax of the film, David becomes a vigilante of sorts, eventually saving a family that was being held captive by an evil man. And that's basically it!

The Twist

It wouldn't be a Shyamalan film without an epic twist, right? Once we get backstory on Elijah, we learn he's become a bit obsessed with finding real-life superheros. He pores over horrible disasters, looking for the "sole survivor" who might have powerful gifts. He mentions a devastating plane crash, a harrowing building fire, and so on. The fact that he was so invested in these stories is pretty much how he discovers David.

But that's not the whole story. The whole story is that Elijah doesn't just seek out these disastrous news stories looking for survivors. No, he causes them. That's right. He caused the plane crash, the building fire, and even the horrifying train derailment that set the film's events in motion! The fact that he's the polar opposite to David is no coincidence: he says they are defined by each other, they exist at opposite ends of the same spectrum. "Glass," as he newly dubs himself, was always meant to be the supervillain to David.

The Conclusion and Beyond

David reports Glass, who gets put away in a mental institution for his depraved acts of terrorism. That's presumably the facility he's in when we finally meet him once again in Glass. As for Dunn? He does become a sort of superhero with his hooded ensemble, taking out petty criminals. This is also where he is at the beginning of Glass. Once again, this is all fun back story, but it really isn't crucial when you're going into the new film. That said, all of the water-related stuff in Glass makes a whole lot of sense once you know it's David's supposed weakness.

You: According to the Internet, Beck Should Have Just Gotten Some Damn Window Curtains

Warning: Some featured tweets contain spoilers for You!

At this point in time, if you haven't already watched the first season of Netflix's You, you're purposefully not living your best life. The series has been a widespread hit since it was acquired by Netflix from Lifetime and premiered on the streaming site on Dec. 26. Fans are torn between never trusting people again and looking for their own personal Joe Goldbergs to stalk them across their social media pages. (The answer is to do neither, especially not the latter!) Whether they're Team Joe, Team Peach, or Team Why Are the Cops So Incompetent, there's one thing You fans can all agree on - everyone needs to invest in window curtains, no matter what floor you live on.

Yes, we're talking about Beck, and even though she's definitely the one being stalked in the series, fans still aren't cutting her any slack. Somehow ± whether it's about her poetry, her admittedly terrible decisions, or her taste in men - people just haven't warmed up to the graduate student. While we wait to dive back into the shenanigans for season two, keep reading to see exactly how people are feeling about Beck and her role in how things shake out in season one.

Well, This Is a Bummer: Netflix to Raise Subscription Prices to $16 a Month For Some Users

With all the big-budget sci-fi films, award season acquisitions, and pricey TV series being added to Netflix's rotation monthly, it was only a matter of time before the streaming platform decided to raise its prices yet again. Now it seems the company has hiked up prices between 13 and 18 percent, which marks the largest increase since Netflix first debuted 12 years ago, and the fourth time rates have been increased overall.

This time around, the company plans on increasing fees by $1-$2, depending on which plan you currently subscribe to. The most expensive option is the 4K premium plan, originally priced at $14, which will be increased to $16 per month. The most popular plan, which gives users HD standard picture for $11, will go up to $13 a month, and the $8 plan will increase to $9. The additional money is a direct effect of Netflix spending billions on new content. For instance, CNN reports that 2018 marked $8 billion in spending, "based on the company's own expectations from 2017." This is also after the company announced in October that it would be taking on $2 billion in new debt. (For what it's worth, Netflix's stock is soaring.)

The jump in price will take effect immediately for any customers who are just signing up for Netflix, and will show up on bills for current subscribers over the next few months. Netflix users in Latin America and the Caribbean will see the same higher rates. While Netflix's investors will likely be happy about the change, we can't say the same about subscribers . . .

You'll Love Looking at Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's Royal Milestones, Side by Side

Looking at photos of Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's strikingly similar debuts last year got us thinking about how many other exciting (and likely overwhelming) first-time experiences they've shared as regular women who happened to become royalty. Meghan's whirlwind 2018 was been full of fun firsts, from being on the balcony at Trooping the Colour to a solo outing with Queen Elizabeth II and even her first royal tour with Prince Harry. Oh, and we can't forget about that fun pregnancy news.

Kate Middleton made a lot of the same moves back in 2008 while dating William, and ticked even more firsts off her list after they got engaged in 2010. We've put Kate and Meghan's royal firsts side by side - there will be plenty more to add this year!

Meghan and Harry Shared a Sweet Moment With Blind Children Who Wanted to Touch Their Faces

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make a public appearance, fans gather from far and wide to greet the famous royals. Such was the case on Jan. 14, when the parents-to-be visited Birkenhead, England. Harry melted hearts everywhere as he hugged a little girl holding a "Gingers Unite" sign, and according to People, the duke and duchess went the extra mile while greeting blind children. "In the square, there were some blind children who wanted to touch the royal faces because they couldn't see them," said local member of Parliament Frank Field. "Both of them went down on their haunches so the children could touch their faces." Aw!

Harry and Meghan also received a special gift from one of the kids, according to Twitter user @TraceyMariex. Her niece, who is blind, gave the couple a handmade card in braille. "Harry held on to her ensuring she was safe," Tracey wrote. "Meghan went down on the floor to take a card she had made for her in braille. They'll make great parents." Meghan and Harry are gearing up to welcome a baby of their own sometime in late April, and we can't wait to see all the joy and cuteness that comes along with the newborn's arrival!

Jake Gyllenhaal Puts Being the Internet's Boyfriend on Hold to Play Spider-Man's Mysterio

Jake Gyllenhaal is making his superhero debut in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but don't get it twisted - the Stronger actor is playing a villain, which makes our decision to automatically root for him based on the scruff he's rocking in the trailer alone a little suspect, we admit.

In said teaser, which dropped on Jan. 15, Gyllenhaal can be seen at the very end of the nearly 3-minutes of new footage as he faces off against our web-slinging hero (Tom Holland) while a giant monster made of water rages nearby. Although we're used to seeing Gyllenhaal as the good guy, we already know from his chilling performance in Nightcrawler that he unquestionably has the range to play a villain. In this case, he'll be playing classic comic book villain Mysterio. While several characters have taken up the mantle of Mysterio over the years in the comics, the most high-profile incarnation of the villain is Quentin Beck, who Gyllenhaal will be portraying as he goes toe-to-toe with Holland's Peter Parker.

Mysterio, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, first popped up in The Amazing Spider-Man #13 in 1964, where he made his debut as a special effects wizard, stunt man, and actor who longs to make a name for himself at a big Hollywood film studio, rather than toiling away at what he views as dead-end jobs. His time to shine comes when he realizes that despite lacking superhuman abilities, his expertise in illusions nonetheless lends itself well to supervillain-ry. Once he harnesses his new skills, he frames Spider-Man for robbing a museum in New York City, using things like gas and chemicals to fight back against Spider-Man's spidey sense and webbing. (He later becomes a considerable foe for Daredevil.)

As for Gyllenhaal's version of the character, it's hard to pin down exactly how Far From Home is interpreting his abilities. He can be seen shooting a bright green, gaseous substance out of the gloves of his supersuit (which looks like a mix between Iron Man and Thor, as Ned points out in the teaser), but it looks more like some sort of psychic, natural ability, rather than being the product of man-made genius. Mysterio also looks like he's able to fly by using the same green smoke, although it could all be an illusion to cover up a Green Goblin-esque hoverboard.

Until the full trailer drops and we get a better look at Gyllenhaal in action as Mysterio, see him in all his fishbowl-helmeted glory, ahead.

Will Netflix Make More Interactive Movies? Turns Out It Already Did!

With the viral success of the choose-your-own-adventure Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Netflix has entered new territory with a new level of audience control over the stories we see. Bandersnatch has gotten tons of attention, with fans trying to unlock all the different routes to all the different possible endings (and there are more of them than you might think!). Given the success of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the big question is whether or not Netflix will continue with this model and produce more interactive movies and series in the future.

As it just so happens, it turns out it already has some interactive stories on the platform pre-dating Black Mirror: Bandersnatch! The only catch? Up until now, all the choose-your-own-adventure movies on Netflix have been geared toward children. Interactive movies for children began with 2017's Puss in Boots: Trapped in an Epic Tale and continued with Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile.

Bloomberg was the first to report Netflix's plans for interactive programming back in October 2018. The reports at the time identified Black Mirror as likely the first big project to test the interactive waters, but they also included indications that this would only be the first of multiple projects with a similar approach. "[Netflix] has closed a deal for at least one more live-action project and is negotiating the rights to others," claimed a pair of anonymous sources in the Bloomberg article.

Even the Netflix app is getting on board, expanding for the capabilities to handle the different technical requirements of streaming a program with multiple options. Per Variety, the app was restructured to pre-cache two possibilities at once, rather than just one linear item, to ensure smooth streaming throughout the process.

All of these facts seem to point toward a future where Netflix does produce more interactive programming. The company's vice president of product, Todd Yellin, seemed to think as much when speaking to Variety, alluding to plans to experiment with other genres (such as romances, comedies, and horror movies) in the interactive space. "[Black Mirror] just happens to be a great audience for the first one. . . . We think we are onto something that could be really exciting," he said.

The rumors that Netflix was heading into the interactive programming niche first started circling early in 2018, thanks to a partnership with Telltale Games, a video game company. Although word spread quickly that Netflix might be trying to adapt the choose-your-own-path style of video games to television programming, the questions quickly hit a bump in the road when Telltale went defunct in the Fall of 2018. Its interactive adventure Minecraft: Story Mode (also a collaboration with Netflix) was the final project from the company.

Despite the loss of one of its partners, Netflix still seems committed to venturing further on and continuing to experiment with the possibilities of interactive programming that invites viewers to actively participate in telling the stories they see. The only question left to answer is: what kind of stories will those be? While Netflix hasn't publicly answered this yet, all signs point to the company producing more stories that put the audience in the driver's seat.

10 Chilling Details Bravo's Dirty John Left Out From the Disturbing True Story

If you're still reeling from the wild Dirty John finale, we're right there with you. The eight-episode Bravo series - which is based on the true story of how interior designer Debra Newell (Connie Britton) fell prey to notorious con artist John Meehan (Eric Bana) - came to an end on Sunday night with the death of Meehan. While it may seem like a lot of the show was embellished for TV, it actually stuck pretty true to the story. Yes, it's true that Meehan and Newell tied the knot after only a couple of months of dating. And yes, it's true that Meehan set Newell's car on fire when they were separated, though it was actually a Tesla, not a Maserati. Still, there were a few important details that the Bravo series left out from the harrowing true story. Maybe they just couldn't fit them all in eight episodes? We get it - it's a lot.

Milo Ventimiglia Would Like to Apologize For Making You Compare Every Single Man to Jack Pearson

Do you enjoy constantly running out of tissues, experiencing can't-catch-your-breath shrieking sobs, and needing approximately 1.5 bottles of wine just to make it through one episode of television? Ah, yes. Welcome. You must be a fan of This Is Us! We've all fallen in love every time Milo Ventimiglia made his way onto our screens the past two decades, but with his latest role as Jack Pearson on This Is Us, it's a total, emotional game changer.

Milo not only makes us all swoon and sob weekly on This Is Us, but he also appreciates cars the same way his character, Jack, did - so he recently partnered with Kelley Blue Book for their Best Buy Awards. We caught up with the actor to chat about his new partnership and also discuss some very important things that only true This Is Us fans would relate to. Everything from knowing "All you want is someone to look at you the way Jack looks at Rebecca,". . .

. . . to admitting that "You sometimes forget that the cast actually isn't your real family."

Read on for more from Ventimiglia, and if you're currently in This Is Us withdrawal like the rest of us, check out the full video above!

POPSUGAR: Your character Jack was extremely into cars, and now you're partnering with Kelly Blue Book yourself - can you talk about your own love of cars?

Milo Ventimiglia: I definitely appreciate the function of a car and how involved cars are in our daily lives, particularly here in Los Angeles. Cars are important! How we utilize them, how we use them. So it's good to have a trusted company that's been doing it for years giving us information about the cars we drive, the cars we're buying, as well as the cars we're selling.

PS: What are you doing with the brand this year?

MV: This is the second year that I've worked with Kelley Blue Book on their Best Buy Awards, so for 2019, they're unveiling a new category: it's a Best New Model category. I'm continually impressed from my own experience with Kelley Blue Book - since I was 16 or 17 to two weeks ago when my mom and dad were selling their cars because my sisters and I bought them new cars - to see what Kelley Blue Book is doing with their road tests, with all their testing of the technology that's in the cars and getting that to the consumers. So I'm constantly impressed by what they're doing, what they're giving back to the community of car buyers and sellers.

PS: And Jack obviously loved his 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, but what 2019 car do you think he'd love to drive?

MV: I think Jack would probably love to drive his Chevy Chevelle in 2019 if he still had the chance to. So I'm going to enjoy driving Jack's '67 Chevelle in 2019 when it comes.

Steven Spielberg's West Side Story Remake Has Officially Cast Its Star-Crossed Lovers

West Side Story has found its star-crossed lovers. Last year, it was announced that Ansel Elgort had been cast to portray Tony in Steven Spielberg's forthcoming adaptation of the classic musical. Now, Deadline has revealed Maria will be portrayed by Rachel Zegler. The 17-year-old Colombian-American high school student was one of 30,000 hopefuls who participated in an online casting call, and her evidently stellar covers of "Tonight" and "I Feel Pretty" earned her the role.

Though Natalie Wood is famous for her impassioned portrayal of Maria in the original screen adaptation, the casting choice has since been met with criticism given that Wood was not Puerto Rican. In a statement shared with Variety, Zegler said she is "humbled by the opportunity to play a role that means so much to the Hispanic community."

If you haven't seen any iteration of the story on stage or the big screen, teenagers Tony and Maria are the protagonists of the tragic love story modeled after Romeo and Juliet. Tony is a former member of the American gang the Jets, which rivals the Puerto Rican gang the Sharks. Maria's older brother Bernardo is the leader of the Sharks, and thus enters the story's central dilemma. Tony was first portrayed by Larry Kert in the original 1957 musical and later by Richard Beymer in the 1961 film.

The cast is gradually coming together with three Broadway actors also confirmed. David Alvarez will play Bernardo, Josh Andrés Rivera will play Maria's fiancé, Chino, and Ariana DeBose will step into the iconic role of Anita, previously portrayed by Rita Moreno. Oh, and speaking of the venerated actress, she'll be involved in the remake, too. Moreno will appear as Valentina, who is a "reconceived and expanded version of the character of Doc, the owner of the corner store in which Tony works." Moreno is also listed as an executive producer on the film.

Here's How to Convert Slow-Cooker Recipes to Your Instant Pot

Image Source: POPSUGAR Photography / Anna Monette Roberts

The Instant Pot and the slow cooker may look alike, but they function a lot differently. The name of each appliance says it all - slow-cooked food takes hours, while the Instant Pot knocks it out quickly. So when you're converting a slow-cooker recipe to an Instant Pot, there are a few things to consider. Keep these conversions in mind the next time you whip out your Instant Pot for a quick and easy dinner.

1. Lower the Meat-Cooking Time

One of the best things about the Instant Pot is its ability to cook meat insanely fast - even when frozen. If you're converting meat from a slow cooker to an Instant Pot, follow this rule: if the meat dish cooks in eight hours on low or four hours on high in the slow cooker, it will cook in 25-30 minutes in the Instant Pot. Make sure the Instant Pot setting reads "sealing" and not "venting" to ensure it's cooked properly. The "meat/stew" button is great for red meat recipes like bolognese, and the "poultry" button can be used for chicken dishes like garlic chicken soup. If you're cooking meat from frozen in an Instant Pot, just add five or 10 more minutes to the total cook time until it's done.

2. Add More Liquid

Instant Pots need more liquid to function properly, so if your recipe doesn't already call for at least a cup of liquid (such as broth or water), add it.

3. Skip Certain Ingredients

A pressure cooker or Instant Pot won't handle certain ingredients the same way a slow cooker would. If you're making an Instant Pot meal with milk or dairy, don't add it in the beginning. It can be stirred in or simmered at the end, but it won't cook successfully under pressure. If you're using a thickener, such as a cornstarch slurry, whisk it in at the end as well.

Starburst Duos Are Finally Here, and Our Taste Buds Are Tingling With Anticipation

When Starburst released an all-pink bag of its fruit chews back in 2017, we thought we'd reached the peak of candy heaven. Little did we know, the brand's candy-making wizards were busily concocting an even better treat torn straight out of our wildest dreams: Starburst Duos. These colorful fruit chews, which finally launched this month, combine two flavors into one square-shaped candy, making for quite the mouthwatering explosion. There are two different flavor combinations - Blue Raspberry Lemonade and Strawberry Watermelon - which sound equally tempting.

Starburst Duos are now available in both 2-ounce single packs and 14-ounce lay-down bags for $1 and $3, respectively. Cue up "The Best of Both Worlds" by Hannah Montana, and make your way to the nearest convenience store to try out these colorful candies before other sweet-toothed foodies snatch up the whole stock.

Stila's Little White Lies Collection Isn't For the Faint of Heart

When I first got a preview of the Stila Little White Lies collection a few months back, I knew the fun shade-shifting hues would become a hit with makeup lovers. The collection, which includes six liquid eye shadows and a highlighter palette, all look iridescent and white in the tube until you swipe the product on your skin to reveal different hues. For example, Lilac Legend - my favorite shade - can look like a variety of colors depending on what angle you're viewing it from. It could look lavender, electric purple, and even magenta. The shimmery finish and quick beauty look these shadows create is both dramatic enough for the night, but also not too overwhelming for daytime wear. In the Little White Lies Heavenly Highlighting palette, you'll find three shades of highlighter that appear white until you smear them across the high points of your face.

Each shade (a pink, gold, and blue) is packed with glitter that makes you look like a fairy walked across your cheekbones. Anyone who loves being daring with their makeup will want to add one of these products to their collection right now, and won't be disappointed. See the products and how they look on me ahead.

The Emotional Reason Behind Jaime King's Drastic Haircut

Jaime King now has a chin-length bob, but for her, this was more than just a cut to bring in the new year. The actress posted a picture on Instagram describing what her blunt chop meant to her: "LIBERATED ✨ 9 months of waiting for this moment. Thank you to my characters for giving me the vessel to heal by bringing you to life. Thank you for the Light that lifted layers of grief from the loss of my best friend Elizabeth Kemp. This is more than a look for me this is the process letting go... Brand new color for my new ✂️."

Kemp, an actress and acting teacher who coached King (along with many other celebrities like Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga), passed away from cancer in 2017. King went on to thank hairstylist Brant Mayfield for the cut and colorist Tracey Cunningham for her babylights.

King's new short hairstyle is inspiring us to push forward and heal this year. Ahead, see it for yourself.

Weaves For Men Are a Thing, and This Man Is Changing the Hair Industry With Them

A person can lose up to 50 to 100 strands of hair per day - that's normal. Hair loss, however, is when you lose more than that amount, manifesting in the form of bald patches and male- and female-pattern baldness. Eighty million Americans experience this, according to the American Academy of Dermatology, and for women, there are a plethora of options: extensions, wigs, and weaves (Zendaya can tell you what each of these are), all of which can create the illusion of longer, thicker hair. But for the most part, men are left out of the conversation.

Wade Menendez saw this gap in the hair industry as an opportunity. He came out with "weaves for men" or hair units, which are cranial prostheses that can hide areas of hair loss. "It's basically a hair piece that's attached to the head by either adhesive, bond, or sewing method," Menendez told POPSUGAR. "It's similar to a toupee, but there are other variations and ways to accomplish that look without an actual toupee. It's all about how you cut and style it." These hair pieces can be used on all hair textures.

He admitted that he isn't the first to create hair units for men, but that it was "kept pretty quiet," Menendez said. "There have been barbers and stylists that have been doing some of these techniques for many years." He said that it initially took three hours to install the weave on each person, but he's cut that time in half because of the demand for his hair unit. "I do seven to 10 people each day, and it pushed me to get faster and develop my timing."

Menendez's pieces can last anywhere from two weeks to a year, depending on how you maintain and style the hair. "Maintenance is needed with it in order to keep it looking fresh," he said. (That entails coming in for a scalp cleanse - and who wouldn't want to come in for a quick scalp-refresh sesh?) Menendez's hair units are making it possible for men to have the head of hair that they want for longer, and that's visionary.

See the transformations ahead.

The Fascinating Way Actors Coordinate Botox Appointments While Filming Movies

Botox in Hollywood is sort of like an all-black wardrobe in New York City: normal by way of sheer volume, and therefore completely unavoidable. Still, now more than ever, people across the country are seeking authenticity - in beauty ads, on social media, and on the big screen - which, for working actors, presents a dilemma. How can someone with a smooth (read: Botoxed) forehead also make their surprise-face or ugly-cry look believable on TV or a movie? Turns out, the answer all comes down to timing, puppeteered by the actor, a dermatologist, and the film crew.

"I have a couple of patients who are directors or producers that complain about working with somebody who, in a scene where they have to look surprised, can only make their eyeballs pop."

"The planning [of injections] has to be carefully coordinated, because they still have to make facial expressions," said dermatologist Francesca Fusco, MD, who wouldn't reveal the names of her clients but confirmed she works with a handful of A-list celebrities before filming. "I have a couple of patients who are directors or producers that complain about working with somebody who, in a scene where they have to look surprised, can only make their eyeballs pop. They usually refer that person to me, and I'll work with the actor and makeup artist for the film so we can plan Botox or filler around certain scenes."

By "plan," Dr. Fusco means exactly that: she works with the crew to go over the filming schedule ahead of time - "because they don't always shoot consecutively," she said - so she can then schedule injections properly. She'll take into consideration the amount of time it takes for the treatment to kick in, any potential bruising, and possible touch-ups. "I always make sure to give it at least two to three weeks before, minimum," said Casey Killoran, an actress and producer for films like Viral Beauty. "Once everything has settled a little and the natural caves of the face go back to a more natural state, that's when I want to film."

Let's address the elephant in the room: why do any Botox at all in the first place? Well, the answer goes back to our original notion that lots of actors - although not all - have Botox already.

"It's touchy because it depends on the comfort level of the actor or actress, but when you've employed someone who has gotten a certain level of that, and then you have to do a pick-up shot with them six months down the road, [the facial expressions] have to match," Killoran said. "If you're shooting a very realistic comedy or drama, and people are getting really angry or concerned about something, it can be super distracting if they aren't able to make worry lines in between their eyebrows. We want it to look natural - that's the most important thing on camera."

The secret to nailing the perfect execution - because, like all things in Hollywood, there is one - is what we're calling Botox Lite: Fusco uses a "neoneedle" to inject tiny amounts of the toxin in multiple areas for a softer, more relaxed look. The results of this subtler approach last two to three months, as opposed to the typical six.

"That's not the way it usually works with Botox, but the idea is to inject just a little bit at once over a period of time so they never look different in one scene from the next," Dr. Fusco said. "This works really well on film and television because the goal is to keep the facial expressions and/or the lips the same size throughout the whole filming process."

"The idea is to inject just a little bit at once over a period of time so they never look different in one scene from the next."

As for who, exactly, is paying for all these treatments every two months - that depends on the production budget. "It's interesting because I never thought that I would have to think about this on the producing end - to put Botox into the budget to match a person from a few months," Killoran said. "If a film just does not have the money, then it comes on the shoulders of the producer or the director, depending on how involved the director is to kind of talk with the actor or actress and say, 'Listen, we have to match these shots.'"

Yet, as audiences continue to applaud real-life experiences on the big screen and fight unrealistic beauty standards in Hollywood, it begs the question: will the influx of cosmetic treatments slow down, too? Killoran has a theory: "There is a movement, especially with female and also LGBTQ filmmakers, to tell their stories and bring a realness to it, which sometimes includes aging and other things that might not be 'sexy' in other people's eyes. Where the field before was dominated by men, coming from a male point of view and for the male eye, that's shifting now."

She paused, then continued: "Then again, who knows. People really love Botox."

Are Microneedling Patches the New Holy Grail of Antiaging? We Asked the Pros

Needles, as any 5-year-old sitting in a pediatrician's office could tell you, can be scary as sh*t. Glide a pen with hundreds of micro versions of them across your face, piercing the skin as you sweep to ensure those antiaging ingredients really get in there, and it's enough to make you feel like a victim in Saw II. But good news! There is a slightly less invasive (and exponentially easier) option out there: microneedling patches.

"Microneedling patches are great options to enhance delivery and potentially the future of not just skin care but medicine."

Like other masks or patches, application is practically painless - you just press it on. The difference is in the sharp points ("composed of biodegradable molecules molded into the shape of tiny, virtually painless needles on an adhesive patch," said dermatologist Asmaa Chaudhry, MD, FAAD) that prick the surface of the skin to rev collagen production and smooth fine lines, then disappear. "Once your barrier is slightly pierced, enzymes inside the body begin breaking down and dissolving the outer components of the 'needle' so that the active ingredients within it are delivered to the site," she added, which leads to fewer visible wrinkles.

Sounds great and all, but does it work? Every dermatologist we spoke with answered with a resounding yes - but there's one caveat: the results won't last forever. "Only small studies on this newer technology have been performed, but in nearly all cases, the results have been promising," said Chaudhry.

For now, dermatologist Ritu Saini, MD, recommends using these microneedling patches as a temporary pick-me-up for special occasions, on areas where you have thinner skin or fine lines, like the crow's feet around the eyes. (Neurotoxins, like Botox or fillers, are still your best bets for deeper wrinkles.)

The innovations available are only the beginning, and there's a big chance they're going to be everywhere soon: "Microneedling patches are great options to enhance delivery and potentially the future of not just skin care but medicine," said dermatologist Dhaval Bhanusali, MD. "They've already been used in fields like pain management and even to deliver things like iron. In skin care, they allow us to get ingredients - the most popular being hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and other antioxidants - deeper into the skin safely."

Might as well get yourself acquainted, then, with the derm-approved picks that are paving the future of face patches. Besides, everyone knows Black Mirror is way more relevant for 2019 than Saw, anyway.

How 6 Popular Infant Formulas Stack Up Against Each Other

When it came time to give my daughter infant formula, the thought made me panic. Rationally, I knew I had to stop nursing for valid reasons and was happy I had made it six months exclusively breastfeeding. But even the thought of researching formula made me cringe.

I realized that while I got a lot of advice about breastfeeding, no one in my childbirth classes or mothers groups seemed to talk about formula. It's true that historically, commercial formula has been overmarketed to parents when breast milk is best. But the correction toward promoting breastfeeding had left me scared and uninformed about how to start feeding my child when I could no longer produce her food myself.

"It's a very personal decision for a woman to decide to switch to formula or decide to use formula and breastfeed," explained Diane Wilson, director of nutrition services for Nature's One, which sells an organic baby formula. Wilson said she receives comments from mothers who have had breast reduction surgery or are adoptive parents. Some other reasons mothers decide to supplement or go to exclusively formula? Medication, low milk supply, work situations, a desire to conceive again, or simply because they decide breastfeeding isn't for them.

"You can count on formula to make sure your baby grows and thrives."

Wilson believes parents in these situation shouldn't feel guilty. "Infant formula is one of the most highly regulated foods in the world. The manufacturing specifications, the nutrient composition, the amount of these nutrients - everything is extensively researched, and ingredients that go into formula have to show that they are completely safe and appropriate and in the proper amount," she explained. Wilson pointed out that in certain situations, formula is a necessity, and when that's the case you can feel assured that it's a safe, healthy alternative. "Breast milk will never be duplicated, at least in my lifetime," Wilson said, "but you can count on formula to make sure your baby grows and thrives."

Dr. Cristina Casas, a pediatrician in San Francisco, agreed that formula is safe for infants, and in fact she does not recommend a specific one to patients since she believes all are sufficiently regulated. "I tell parents not to be stressed about introducing formula. Although we recommend giving breast milk if possible, formula is a great alternative," she told me.

While it's assuring to know that all formulas are held to high standards, I did find various pros and cons for each when I finally sat down to research them. Let's look at a few of the formulas that stood out and see how they compare to each other. I focused on cow's milk formula. In rare situations, a doctor may recommend soy formula, which is vegan, or other specialized formulas for babies who are premature or at risk for allergies. (You can read more about what the American Academy of Pediatrics has said about those options here). It's always a good idea to talk to your health care provider when making an important decision like this, but to get you started, read on.
