How to Style a Velour Sweatsuit ('Cause the 2000s Are Back, Baby!)
It was sometime in the early 2000s and Juicy Couture had not only taken over my school but my wardrobe, too. You couldn't walk down the hallway without seeing a girl rocking a trendy velour tracksuit (extra points if you had J-U-I-C-Y written in rhinestones on your backside). While years have passed, my love for tracksuits has not faded.
Luckily, the early aughts are back in style with plenty of A-listers rocking a more modern version of my beloved velour tracksuits. If you're wondering how exactly to rock yours in public, allow me to show you three easy ways to wear it right now without looking like a blast from the past. The key lies in finding a classic tracksuit that doesn't look dated. I tried out the POPSUGAR at Kohl's navy tracksuit, which is currently on sale for $66, and put it to the test. Read on to see three ways I styled my tracksuit to give it a 2019 spin.
Ashley Graham's Crop Top Was Sexy, but Her Strappy Stilettos Took It to a Whole New Level
Ashley Graham stepped out with her husband, Justin Ervin, in New York City for the screening of Lifetime's American Beauty Star, which she hosts. For the event, the curve model opted for a white cropped Kith top that featured drawstrings on the bottom. She styled her ab-baring top with a pair of lace-up pants and the most amazing heels. Ashley's black stilettos added the perfect amount of sparkle with rhinestones. Read on to see her full look and shop similar heels for your next date night.

After dripping in $1 million worth of diamonds at John Legend's birthday party, Chrissy Teigen showed off her amazing style with her husband while hitting up LA hot spot Craig's. For their date night, Chrissy wore a sleek white blazer dress with PVC Gianvito Rossi heels.
As an unexpected layering piece, Chrissy styled what looked like a pair of glittery biker shorts and matching turtleneck underneath. While biker shorts have been a huge trend over the past several months, we're pretty sure Chrissy's sparkly version takes the cake as the coolest style. Read on to see all angles of her outfit and shop similar versions for your wardrobe.
9 Reasons This Small Colorado Town Should Be Next on Your 2019 Travel To-Do List
Like most people, I traveled to Breckenridge, CO, the first time for the skiing. And although the skiing is fantastic, it's not what's kept me going back multiple times a year for the past five years. In fact, I spend far more time in Breck now when the slopes are closed for the season.
So what keeps me coming back? It's the people and the unique culture they've created in this small town high up in the Rockies. Whether I'm living the laptop lifestyle and working from Breck between hikes or simply hanging with friends and enjoying craft cocktails and beers on outdoor decks, I've never been anywhere with so many chill, laid-back young people. Here's why Breckenridge should be next on your 2019 travel stops.
Mark Your Calendars! A (Not Fake) Super Blood Wolf Moon Is Happening This Month
A super blood wolf moon eclipse is occurring later this month, and no, you did not accidentally stumble upon some Twilight fan fiction. The rare lunar trifecta will be visible in the Americas, Iceland, Greenland, Western Europe, and West Africa on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, depending on the time zone.
So, what the heck is it exactly? A wolf moon is the term used for the first full moon of the year, so, that's that on the "wolf" part. A super moon, meanwhile, occurs when the moon is as its closest distance to Earth during its orbit, making it seem unusually large. To top it all off, the moon will also experience a total lunar eclipse, which will give it a reddish hue - hence why it's called a blood moon. In fact, the super blood wolf moon - deep breath - will be the only total lunar eclipse of 2019.

While the entire eclipse will last several hours, the total coverage of the moon will take place at 11:41 p.m. ET, lasting for just over an hour. Unfortunately, only a partial eclipse will be visible in Eastern Europe and East Africa, and most of Asia will not be able to experience the lunar event.

Motorola Razrs Are Coming Back, So Remind Me What Year It Is Again?
We may no longer be sporting low-rise jeans, peasant tops, and Juicy tracksuits, but if the rumors are true, then we should all be prepared to feel like it's 2005 again pretty soon. According to The Wall Street Journal, the Motorola Razr - the flip phone that became one of the most popular phones of the early 2000s thanks to its super slim design - is making a comeback. Motorola's parent company, Lenovo, is apparently coming out with an updated version of the classic phone that will be sold exclusively to Verizon customers in the US as early as February.
If you're already hyperventilating over the thought of using T9 and pressing number keys an absurd amount of times just to type out a five-word text message, relax; the new model will reportedly be a foldable smartphone with a full touchscreen keyboard! That said, the price tag on the updated phone may be hefty, as reports say Lenovo plans to produce around 200,000 new Razrs that would sell for $1,500 each. Other possible phone features haven't been shared, but for $1,500, we can only hope that it's getting a major modern update.

This Magical Hotel in Sweden Lets You Sleep Among the Trees, and the Views Are Unreal
If going to a cozy getaway is your favorite way to relax and unwind, you'll feel more at ease just looking at photos of the Treehotel in Sweden. Like something out of a dream, this tucked-away hotel offers rooms perched among the pine forest of northern Sweden, and the views are unreal. The hotel offers different rooms with names like the Bird's Nest, the Cabin, and the UFO (it really is shaped like a flying object), all modern variations of tree houses designed by Scandinavian architects that let you sleep among nature - in a luxurious way.
Treehotel is so remote that you have to fly from Stockholm to the Lulea Airport, and then the hotel organizes a car service from there or you can take a train. You can choose to completely disconnect and enjoy time in nature, but the rooms are equipped with WiFi just in case. There's also an impressive restaurant on the property serving local ingredients, and daytime activities include dog sled tours, ice fishing, photography walks, and more. Prices range from about $100 to $800+ per night, depending on the time of year and type of room. Ahead, see photos of this breathtaking destination, and you'll immediately add it to your bucket list.

A Step-by-Step Guide For Packing the KonMari Way
Before I completed Marie Kondo's KonMari Method of tidying up, I loathed packing for vacation. So much so, I would typically wait until 30 minutes before leaving for the airport to shove everything in a bag and fingers crossed, I would remember my toothbrush. But now that I am a convert for this organizational method, I've applied the same minimalist principles to my packing, and I'm never looking back. Here are some of the key takeaways so you too can pack joyfully.
Start with a suitcase that sparks joy.
During my tidying process, my parents actually got rid of my suitcases accidentally, but I took the opportunity to invest in a new set of ultra-lightweight, rolling suitcases in my favorite color: teal. Before I start packing, I unzip the bag, lay it flat on the floor, and check all pockets for possible remnants from the previous trip (usually cell phone chargers, etc.).
Fold your clothes the KonMari way.
Most of us learned to fold our clothes into thin rectangles and stack the items on top of one another vertically. The problem with this method is you always end up rummaging around your drawer (or in this case suitcase) looking for an item and leaving the whole thing a tangled wreck. Marie Kondo suggests rolling clothes in sort of a triangle shape that stands upright by itself. The clothes are then placed side-by-side horizontally, hugging one another. This makes it so that you can see every single item you own.
This is especially helpful when packing, because you can quickly see if you've forgotten something essential, i.e. underwear. When traveling, gone are the days you have to unload your whole suitcase to find that dang pair of PJs that found its way to the bottom of your bag. When packing, I go the extra mile and refold the clothes so they fit my suitcase perfectly. Then, I lay everything out on my bed (or the floor) until it's time to transfer to the suitcase.
Pull out shoes and accessories.
The KonMari Method is about asking yourself, "What sparks joy?" but when it comes to traveling, I ask myself, "What do I really, really need?" Oftentimes I'll end up putting away a couple of pairs of miscellaneous shoes or dresses and paring down to the bare minimum essentials, so I can zipper my suitcase without the expansion. That way, I know I have some room to spare to pack souvenirs during my trip.
Save toiletries for last.
I leave a hole in the suitcase for my toiletry bag. Meanwhile, I gather my essential toiletries and keep them in plain view on a bathroom counter so I can use them until the last minute. Placing all of the items in a horizontal row (like your clothes) also helps you do a mental checklist before packing them away.
Now that you're all packed up, remember to keep things tidy as you travel! I stash my dirty clothes (still folded) on one side of my bag away from the clean. For whatever reason, this also helps make unpacking a lot easier. You can toss all the dirty clothes in a hamper while transferring the clean, folded clothes back to your drawers.
Here's my list for a weekend trip (as pictured):
- 3 shirts
- 2 shorts
- 3 workout outfits
- 1 sweatshirt
- 1 dress
- 1 jacket (I wear when traveling)
- 3 pairs of underwear
- 1 swimsuit
- 3 pairs of socks
- 1 pair of tennis shoes
- 1 pair of sandals
- 1 pair of wedges/heels
- 1 bag of toiletries
- 1 hat
- 1 pair of sunglasses
11 Fascinating Facts About Netflix's Organizing Queen, Marie Kondo
Since Netflix's Tidying Up With Marie Kondo was released on Jan. 1, just as the ink was drying on New Year's resolutions everywhere, viewers have become obsessed with organizing their homes (or totally confused by the folding method). Even skeptical parents are trying it out, not to mention celebrities like Jennifer Garner and Mindy Kaling. Some, like those who fell in love with sparking joy after Marie's 2014 US book release, are hooked once again. Is there anyone who isn't folding everything into tiny rectangles at this point?
Now that you've got the basics of the decluttering method down, it's time to learn more about the woman behind the organizing empire. It turns out the petite, quirky 34-year-old from Japan, who uses a translator to reveal her words of wisdom on the show, isn't faking her almost annoying levels of excitement over organizing. She's been living and breathing tidiness her entire life. Keep reading for 11 fascinating facts about Marie.

Organization Is a Nice Dream, but My House Is a Mess, and I Don't Care
Between New Year's resolutions and Marie Kondo's Netflix show, Tidying Up, it seems like everyone is loving de-cluttering and organizing their lives and homes. And I get it. Cleaning your home, even one room, feels pretty euphoric. It can make you feel lighter, brighter, and ready to tackle all those other goals on your to-do list. But for me, it's not happening. My house is a chaotic and unorganized mess, and I just don't care.
I don't care about my house looking pretty, because the kids will just mess it up anyway. I have more Legos in my house than I have brain cells.
I know I must be speaking for many parents when I say that I don't have the time or energy to care about organizing my entire home. Yes, I donate my kids' clothes and toys as they grow out of them, but to actually carve out time to organize it all, especially in an aesthetically pleasing way? Yeah, no. Honestly, it's a struggle to just survive the weekly grind - school, work, the kids' activities, lunches and dinners. All of those factors interfere with things at the bottom of my to-do list, like organizing.
In addition to the fact that I never seem to have enough time in a day, I also don't care about my house looking pretty, because the kids will just mess it up anyway. I have more Legos in my house than I have brain cells. If I were to de-clutter (and trust me, I've tried), it would most certainly find a way to multiply and spread all over the house again. So for now, I'm going to keep embracing the chaos.
I will admit that when I walk into people's homes who've clearly got their sh*t together, I get a little jealous. My sister-in-law, for example, is an organized queen. When I open up her closets and food cupboards, everything is labeled and neat. I'm so impressed that people out there can do things like this, but I'm also at peace with the fact that I'm not one of them. And that doesn't mean my home and life are bad. It's actually pretty beautiful, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Maybe one day when my kids are older - or, let's be honest, out of the house - I'll find the time and energy to beautifully organize my home. But until then, you can find me happily in the mess.

A Chick-fil-A Opened on a Rare Sunday to Make a Boy With Special Needs' Dreams Come True
WATCH: Check out why a Mobile Chick-fil-A opened on a Sunday for 14-year-old Elijah Sprague, who has autism. Read the full story here >> wkrg.com/1700579146?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_WKRG
Posted by WKRG on Monday, January 14, 2019
Although Chick-fil-A is normally closed on Sundays, one location in Mobile, AL, made an exception for 14-year-old Elijah Sprague, a local teen with autism and cerebral palsy who wanted to celebrate his birthday at the chain restaurant. Luckily for Elijah, his family was able to make a few calls so he could live out his dream of working in the drive-through.
"My brother, [Elijah's] uncle, is one of the managers at the local Chick-fil-A," Elijah's sister Rene Sprague told CBS News. "He was like, 'Why are you evening asking? Absolutely, we have to do it.'"
Once Elijah got the green light, the staff got to work, making cookies for him to hand out to friends and family. When all was said and done, 40 friends swung by to get food from Elijah, and some people even went through twice. After Elijah finished up in the drive-through window, he had the chance to have cake and play in Chick-fil-A with his friends.
For Elijah, who was adopted at 6 months old, marking his 14th birthday was truly a special occasion, especially because doctors said he wouldn't live past a year.
"He knew every single person who came through," said Renee. "He was chucking cookies out the window. He thought it was hilarious, and he was talking to everybody. This is superspecial to us. Elijah's not going to graduate like our other kids. He's not going to get married or have kids. So this is just a really cool experience to us for him to have this level of attention . . . it's neat for people to recognize he's a really cool kid."

This Mom Carried Her Baby to Term So She Could Donate Her Organs to Sick Children
After carrying her baby Rylei Arcadia for 18 weeks, Krysta Davis and her boyfriend Derek Lovett got news no parent wants to hear: their little girl had anencephaly - a deadly birth defect in which a baby is born without parts of the brain and skull - which has an average life expectancy that ranges from seconds to just a few days.
Although doctors gave Krysta the option to induce labor and deliver Rylei, Krysta opted to carry the baby to term and hope for the best when she learned that she could donate her child's organs to other children in need. "I may have not been able to take my baby home, but I could maybe use her life to give other mothers the chance to," she told The Daily Advertiser.
If Stay-at-Home Parents Were Paid, They'd Net $162K Per Year, and We're Not Surprised at All
Leaving your career to be a stay-at-home mom isn't always easy. And while forgoing your paycheck is never fun, recently researchers calculated how much stay-at-home parents would make each year if they were to be paid, and spoiler alert, it's a lot. According to new data from Salary.com, moms or dads who stayed home with the kids would earn $162,581.
Researchers came up with this figure by asking thousands of stay-at-home moms how much of their time they dedicate to things like housework, driving the kids around, and generally, keeping everyone in the family alive. And to absolutely no parent's surprise, stay-at-home moms disclosed they work up to 96 hours a week.
Related: A Day in the Life of a Stay-at-Home Mom
Although that salary may seem high to some, if you break down what parents would spend on things like food and childcare, it actually makes sense.
"My husband would need to put the kids in daycare so that he could return to work," said stay-at-home mom Jackie Semmens. "He'd probably have to hire a housekeeper and, while I don't think there are any personal chefs for hire in our small town, he would doubtlessly spend more money on take-out. For those nights that he worked late, and weekends when last-minute projects came up, he'd need a sitter. He'd probably have to hire someone to help with the yard work, too."
Compared to last year's data, stay-at-home parents this year got a pretty significant raise - like in the ballpark of $5,000 - so confirmed, the gig isn't exactly getting any easier!
When It Comes to Social Media, Jodie Sweetin Is Quick to Tell Her Daughters, "It's Not Real"
As a mom of two daughters - Zoie, 10, and Beatrix, 8 - Jodie Sweetin is an open book. The 36-year-old mom recently discussed how she talks to her girls about everything from social media to her past substance abuse.
"With the advent of social media, I think it's even harder because you're a kid," she told Today. "You're going to do dumb things. You're going to post dumb things. You're going to do silly things. And now all of the attention is on so many young people to be perfect and look good. It's a lot of pressure."
Although Jodie certainly gets the allure of apps like Instagram, she's quick to remind her daughters that what you see on the platform isn't real life.
"I have honest conversations with them about what social media really is - that it's not real," she said. "The things that you see, that you wish you looked like, or you wish you were, are not the real people. It's edited."
"I tell my kids, 'Don't put anything on the internet that you don't want to see for the rest of your life.'"
And let it be known that the Fuller House star isn't above going through Zoie's feed. "I tell my kids, 'Don't put anything on the internet that you don't want to see for the rest of your life,'" she said. "I was actually really proud of her. I went through some of her stuff. And I saw some of her comments. I always tell them to be positive and not to be mean. I have no patience for any sort of cyberbullying."
Jodie also said that she's an open book when it comes to her past, especially when it comes to her struggle with substance abuse.
"My kids know that I'm sober," said Jodie. "They know that I don't drink. And they know . . . that I used to a lot, and I don't want to anymore because I don't do it well. Some people can have a couple drinks, and I'm just not one of those people. And they're like, 'OK, cool.'"
She added that: "I'm really open with my kids, whether it be about drugs and alcohol, whether it be about sex, social media - whatever it is, they're smart. And I treat them as such. I have to have those open conversations with them because if I don't, they're going to get misinformation somewhere else."
Jodie's number-one priority? Being a good role model for her girls.
"The best thing that I can do for them is just be an example of not only what recovery looks like but what just being a good human looks like," she said. "I have these amazing, interesting, individual, strong, fierce little women. . . . I hope that I am raising little social justice warriors [who] will do good in the world."
Surprise! Joanna Gaines Is Releasing a Children's Book, and We're Already So Excited
Mom of five and Fixer Upper alum Joanna Gaines has obviously been very busy lately. Just seven months after giving birth to her son Crew, Joanna announced that she's been working on a children's book called We Are the Gardeners with her children. The book centers on "bunnies that eat everything" and is meant to inspire kiddos to cultivate their own green thumbs. She added that it's "our way of sharing what the garden means to us, and the many adventures we've had along the way!"
According to Joanna, she's always been passionate about plants and gardening. She hoped to pass her hobby down to her own kiddos by starting a family garden.
"The garden has always been a place that inspires me," she said. "There's something about digging deep into fresh soil or watching new life burst from what was not long ago just a tiny seed that reinforces what a gift life is. I think that's part of why my kids have come to love spending time in the garden just as much as I do."
The 40-year-old mama also emphasized that kids can learn a ton from getting their hands dirty. "It can be a great teacher, if we pause long enough to notice all there is to learn," she said. "Where every day can be a lesson in hard work, and sometimes even in failure, but where there's also growth worth celebrating."
Preorder a copy of We Are the Gardeners ($20) on Amazon before it's officially released on March 26.
Stormi Webster's 1st Birthday Vacation Is More Lavish Than My Future Honeymoon
Raise your hand if you remember your first birthday . . . yeah, me neither. Ahead of Stormi Webster's first birthday, Kylie Jenner took her daughter on a gorgeous tropical vacation, and we're not sure if we have FOMO or if we'd like a do-over on our first birthdays (shout out, Gymboree). On Thursday, Kylie shared photos from her trip with her adorable daughter, writing, "Let the birthday adventures begin," with Stormi's tiny footprints in the sand. Kylie's BFF Jordyn Woods also joined the mother-daughter duo on the trip.
Stormi tugged on Kylie's straw hat in a series of photos on her Instagram story, and they even wore matching neon green bathing suits. The almost 1-year-old cutie is no stranger to the finer things in life: she has an affinity for Louis Vuitton purses and even designer dresses. Now, her first birthday vacation is getting smacked on my vision board for my future honeymoon. Stormi's birthday is just two weeks away, and we can't wait to see how the celebrations continue! Read on to see all the photos from Kylie's birthday getaway for Stormi.
The New Game of Thrones Teaser Makes a Lot More Sense When You Consider This Theory
After a constant stream of prayers to the Old Gods, the New Gods, the Many-Faced God, the Drowned God, the Lord of Light, and perhaps many more that I'm not thinking of right now, we finally have a new Game of Thrones teaser! In the brand-new footage, Jon Snow and the Stark sisters wander in the crypts below Winterfell. They light upon three statues that look exactly like them, signifying grave danger, perhaps even death in their near future. Jon's torch blows out, and a familiar blanket of ice creeps down the corridor. It's not hard to put two and two together: the Night King and his army have arrived at Winterfell.
Obviously, there's a lot to read into when you simply take the teaser at face value: the Winterfell crypts have been a staple throughout the entire series, popping up here and there to give us clues about what's to come. Then there's the mysterious feather that falls on the ground at the beginning, a throwback that stretches all the way to episode one. And don't even get us started on all the poignant, echo-y quotes that have been sprinkled in from throughout the series. But let's cast aside the literal, physical clues and look at this at a much more macro level: what if this is one of Bran's mysterious Greensight visions?
Now, truth be told, a lot of Bran's visions involve visits to the past. This is especially true when it comes to his time with the Three-Eyed Raven; he sees the dearly departed Lyanna Stark in her youth, in her betrothal to the legendary Rhaegar Targaryen, and on her deathbed. He sees how the White Walkers were first created, the truth about his beloved Hodor, and so much more. But there have been other moments that suggest he's witnessing concurrent time and perhaps even the future. Consider, for instance, the moment the Night King catches him "spying" or his cryptic words to Littlefinger that eventually foreshadow his death. With that in mind, let's go back to the teaser!
There's one big callback to Bran in the teaser, another aspect of the scene that feels like a pretty big "wink" to diehard fans: it's clear that Arya is still holding onto that Valerian steel dagger (previously Littlefinger's), which Bran gives to her in season seven. This, in itself, is a pretty big signifier that Bran at least has an inkling about what the future may hold. He likely knows the Night King will make it past the wall with his undead army. He knows Arya may well have to face the White Walkers at some point. The fact that the dagger is at her hip, in plain view, speaks to this tenuous connection.
With that in mind, the whole "doppelgänger statues" situation seems a lot less overt and instead may be a dire clue about the Stark family. But before you blurt out something about how the Starks are dying, consider the very nature of prophecies. Here's what George R. R. Martin had to say about it way back in 2015:
"Prophecy is a staple element in fantasy, but it's tricky. You want to play with the notion of prophecies coming true but in an unexpected way. You want to be unpredictable about it. Shakespeare is the ultimate example of that - when the forest of Birnam Wood coming to Dunsinane Castle, MacBeth will fall. Everybody laughs - how can the forest come to the castle? [Malcolm] came camouflaged with branches and so on. Also, during the War of the Roses, one of the lords was prophesized that he would die at a certain castle. So he always took pains to avoid that castle. But then in the first The Battle of St. Albans, he was wounded and died outside a pub that had that castle on its pub sign. You have to look at prophecies carefully and look at the weasel-wording. Maggy the Frog tells Cersei a prophecy, but could Cersei make it happen through her efforts to avoid it?"
So basically, reading this teaser as a dream or a prophecy means you can have way more fun with it. When you think of it this way, the Stark statues could mean something else. Here's one way to look at it: at the end of season seven, we find out Jon Snow is a Targaryen, meaning there is no longer a Stark heir in this world. Without a male heir, Sansa and Arya will be the last Starks. Could this be a sign that the Stark family will die and a newly united Targaryen House will rise in its place?
Sure, maybe I'm spinning out a little bit, but that's part of the fun with Game of Thrones theories! Go wild; we only have a few precious months left until we (hopefully) get all the answers.

Kit Harington's Latest Quotes About the Game of Thrones Finale Have Us VERY Worried
Now that Kit Harington has wrapped his role as Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, the British actor has been unafraid of sharing his candid opinions about how the highly anticipated eighth season, which premieres on April 14, concludes. After revealing to GQ Australia that filming the final season drove him and the rest of the cast to the point of crying more than once, and that it seemed "designed to break" them, the 32-year-old's latest comments don't have us feeling any more confident about how things will end for Jon Snow.
Harington sat down on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show and hinted that something about the finale of the final season still really bothers him, telling the host that he's "maybe not happy, but very satisfied" with how the events of the series are resolved. Of course, he neglected to say exactly what it is that he's unhappy with, but the season eight teaser already has fans wondering if Jon Snow is going to die. Seeing as it seems highly unlikely he and his aunt new love Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) will ride into the Westerosi sunset together, happily ever after, Harington's comment almost surely means a gut-wrenching twist is ahead.
Fortunately, his interview wasn't all doom and gloom. He mentioned that the remaining six episodes are so stunning that they could change the course of TV history. "I'm so excited for people to see it," he said. "I think it's going to be extraordinary; hopefully, it'll change TV again like it did originally and break boundaries. I think it might."
Harington also went on to note that, despite not being fully satisfied with how things end on Game of Thrones, the show will forever hold a special place in his heart. "It's like when you finish a book, you're not happy it's over, are you? You don't finish a good book and say, 'I'm happy I finished that,'" he explained on the radio program. "But you have this grief that it's over, and it's exactly [the] same with nine years doing this show. No matter how it ended, or how it does end, there's always this bit of you that's like, 'Oh'; there's this loss around it."
Everyone's Mind Is in the Gutter, Thanks to Jake Gyllenhaal in Spider-Man: Far From Home
This week, Marvel unveiled the trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home. The trailer itself is jam-packed with goodies: Samuel L. Jackson pops up as the notorious Nick Fury, Tom Holland is looking cuter than ever, we get an update on that release date . . . oh, and we get a very brief glimpse at Jake Gyllenhaal as the movie's villain, Mysterio. Reader, I am not exaggerating when I tell you Gyllenhaal is in the trailer for perhaps five seconds, maybe less. But apparently, that was all it took the get the internet on the thirsty train and yelling, "Choo-choo! Choo-choo!" Shortly after the trailer dropped, Twitter flooded with hilariously swooning tweets that we couldn't help but round up.

So Where Exactly Is the Emerald Triangle in Netflix's Murder Mountain?
If you've watched Netflix's latest binge-worthy true crime series, Murder Mountain, then you're probably wondering (aside from, you know, how in the world did all of these disappearances fly under the radar for so long?) where exactly the Emerald Triangle is - the area in which the events in the documentary take place.
The series largely focuses on Humboldt County, where a man named Garrett Rodriguez - among several others - went missing from Rancho Sequoia, an area that became popular for marijuana farming in the late '70s. However, Humboldt is only one county in the area that encompasses the Emerald Triangle, a region that earned its name because it produces 60 percent of the marijuana grown in the US, making it the largest cannabis-producing region in the country.
The Emerald Triangle, located in Northern California, spans over 10,000 square miles and is composed of three counties: Humboldt, Mendocino, and Trinity. The area used to be known for its fishing and timber industries rather than cultivating cannabis, but with the passage of Proposition 215 in 1996 (which legalized the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes), the cannabis industry exploded. You'd think that the 2016 passage of Proposition 64 (which legalized adult recreational use of marijuana) would only continue to profit this billion-dollar industry, but as it turns out, the vast majority of pot grown in this area is actually a black market product, both grown and sold illegally.
According to the Arcview Group, a cannabis investment and research firm in Oakland, CA, California's legal medical cannabis industry may have boasted $1.8 billion in revenue in 2016, but the illicit markets generated $5.1 billion. For many operators, the cost of growing marijuana legally is far too expensive and time-consuming, and as a result only about 3,000 of the region's operators - out of roughly 50,000 farms - actually have permits and licenses.
The Emerald Triangle may seem like a peaceful place, but as Murder Mountain brings to its viewers' attention, legalization has actually led to seedier practices. Because of this, locals feel less inclined to allow police presence in the area, even if it means keeping people safe from far more insidious behavior.
The Internet Hasn't Been the Same Since Mariah Carey Responded to the 10-Year Challenge
Unless you've been completely disconnected from everything and everyone for the past week, you've probably heard about the 10-Year Challenge. It involves people mustering up the courage to post a photo of themselves from a decade ago next to a recent picture in order to show their glow-up.
Many celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, and Miley Cyrus, got in on the fun, but the best response to the challenge might have been from Mariah Carey. On Jan. 16, Queen Mimi took to Instagram and Twitter to share her own version of the trend, posting a side-by-side of the same photo with the caption, "I don't get this 10 year challenge, time is not something I acknowledge. *Picture taken at some point prior to today."
Y'all hear that? Time. Isn't. Something. She. Acknowledges. So, basically, that's a wrap on the 10-Year Challenge. Mariah has spoken, and we're dubbing her the champion. It's not all that surprising that she had this reaction, though. She really hasn't aged a single day in over 20 years, let alone 10.
Still, no one has been the same since she posted such an iconic line, and the internet has agreed to disregard the concept of time from now on. "When Mariah said 'time is not something I acknowledge,' I felt that," one Twitter user wrote. Another user who plans on using the quote as a line of defense tweeted, "'Time is not something I acknowledge' I say as I enter class ten minutes late with the coffee that made me ten minutes late."
Read even more of the best responses to Mariah's post ahead! Then be sure to get rid of any alarm clocks that you have set, because you don't need them anymore. They're canceled.
Chrissy Teigen Still Apologizes to Kim and Kanye For Her "Blowout" Fight at Their Wedding
In retrospect, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend might not have had the best time at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's lavish destination wedding. In fact, the elegant event actually caused Chrissy and John to get in a massive "blowout" fight. During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the couple struggled to recall details about the fight, which are pretty hazy because, well, alcohol.
"I don't even remember what it was about," John said. Chrissy added, "We try to think about this all the time. It was a major blowout to the point where every time I see them, I feel like apologizing for it." While John then said other guests weren't aware of the fight going on, Chrissy argued "everyone knew."
Upon analyzing it further, Chrissy said she was feeling "intimidated" by the high-profile guest list and lashed out. "I think I was really intimidated. I think it came from a lot of insecurity, and I took it out on John," she said. "There was a lot of fabulous, amazing people in one room. I think that's where it stemmed from. You know how things snowball into a bigger thing, and also drinking, so that doesn't help." Watch them retell the fight above.
A New Ghostbusters Movie Is Coming, but There's 1 Thing That Makes It Really Special
This week, Entertainment Weekly broke some rather exciting news: there's a new Ghostbusters movie in the works! But there's a really exciting and nostalgic twist attached to this new production: it will be directed and co-written by Jason Reitman. If you're not familiar, his father, Ivan Reitman, directed the original Ghostbusters in 1984, as well as 1989's Ghostbusters II. "I've always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a six-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans," Reitman told EW. Talk about a full-circle moment.
To do you one better, Reitman plans to pick up right where his father left off. "This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the '80s happened in the '80s, and this is set in the present day." While this does mean he will discount the 2016 all-female entry, he had nothing but good things to say about it: "I have so much respect for what Paul created with those brilliant actresses, and would love to see more stories from them. However, this new movie will follow the trajectory of the original film."
When it comes to the new installment, the senior Reitman will be on board as a producer, officially making it a family affair. "It will be a passing of the torch both inside and out," Ivan Reitman said. "I was quite surprised when he came to me with Gil and said, 'I know I've been saying for 10 years I'm the last person who should make a Ghostbusters movie, but I have this idea.' Literally, I was crying by the end of it, it was so emotional and funny." Great, now we're crying.
The new (and presumably still untitled) Ghostbusters film is tentatively slated for a Summer 2020 release. It'll be here faster than you can hum the theme song.
Tessa Thompson and Lily James Play Sisters on the Edge in the Little Woods Trailer
Tessa Thompson ditches her Men in Black suit and Lily James parts with her Mamma Mia 2 overalls in the trailer for Little Woods, which looks like a dark, captivating drama from award-winning director Nia DaCosta.
The pair play estranged sisters living in a run-down North Dakota town who come crashing back into each other's lives at the most inopportune time. Ollie (Thompson) is just trying to make it a few more days until her probation is over, after she was caught running illegal drugs over the Canadian border, but when her mother dies, she has to come to the aid of Deb (James), her half-sister who's dealing with an unplanned pregnancy and a dangerous ex.
Making matters more complicated is the bank's order that they have one week to settle the mortgage on their mother's house before it's foreclosed. Ollie contemplates selling drugs again to make ends meet, while Deb finds herself considering going to extremes to rid herself of her unborn baby.
The film also stars Luke Kirby, James Badge Dale, and Lance Reddick and arrives in theaters on April 19. Watch the trailer above!
True Detective: Here's What We Think Happens With Julie and Her Dad
True Detective, we hate to love you, and love to hate you. You leave us clawing to every minor detail, wondering if they're simply coincidences or major clues that will eventually lead us to the killer. Is the lack of punctuation in the ransom note an indicator of the killer's age or IQ? Does Julie Purcell's lingering stare to her father in the opening scene speak volumes about her relationship with her him? Is Steve McQueen's death meant to foreshadow a connection to a cult? Or is it simply to establish a timeline? What is the significance of the fact that Detective Hays incorrectly says there's a full moon on the night the children disappear? Is it to show his memory is fading, or something more sinister? And what about all the animal metaphors? Season three might be driving us a little crazy, but we'd be lying if we said we didn't enjoy the frenzy.
Another key detail that has sent us on an investigative spiral is a brief reference in the 2015 timeline. Elisa Montgomery is interviewing Detective Hays for a TV documentary when she mentions the events of 1990 and "what happened with Julie and her father." We already know from the 1990 timeline that Julie Purcell is alive because her prints are found at the scene of a robbery (what her role in that robbery is remains unclear), but we don't know what happens next. There's also a scene at the end where a house has gone up in flames. It seemed to resemble the children's house, and perhaps that has something to do with whatever incident takes place in 1990. Does Julie return to her old house to burn it down with her father inside?
An issue with Montgomery's statement is that we're not even sure which man she is referencing. When Tom Purcell's parents are questioned by police at the funeral, Tom's mother Louise tiptoes around the fact that Lucy's paternity has been called into question in the past. As a result, we're left to wonder who Lucy's real father might be, and if he would have a connection to the crime. We already know there was a period of time when Uncle Dan (who seems to actually be a cousin) is staying at the house. While it might be completely outrageous to say he could possibly be Lucy's real father, we can't count anything out yet. We also know that on Halloween night, Julie is given one of the corn-husk dolls that would later be found near Will's body. Could it be that one of the two people in the ghost costumes is her biological father, and that he tells her to meet up with him at a later date?
We'll admit that, at this point, we have a lot more questions than we do answers. The interviewer seems to suggest there's a potential connection to larger pedophile rings, but Detective Hays doesn't seem convinced. In the earliest timeline, we learned that there's a peephole drilled into the children's room, which would make it easy for Uncle Dan to spy on them. And, he seems to be the one who left the Playboy magazines behind. Perhaps Uncle Dan kidnaps Julie to sell her into a pedophile ring, and he's the "father" mentioned in the current timeline. If that's the case, it would be obvious why a very-much-alive Julie would burn down her home with him inside.
Just a theory, though.
Chris Pratt Plays in the Rain With Katherine Schwarzenegger and His Son After Getting Engaged
Chris Pratt, 39, and Katherine Schwarzenegger, 29, looked so happy when they stepped out in Santa Monica, CA, on Tuesday afternoon - and hey, if we had just gotten engaged, we'd be smiling too. Chris and Katherine were joined by the actor's adorable 6-year-old son, Jack (whom he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris), and the trio were the picture of a happy family as they played in the rain.
The couple's fun outing comes just days after Chris and Katherine's engagement announcement. On Sunday, the actor shared on Instagram that he popped the question to the lifestyle blogger after less than a year of dating. "Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes!" Chris wrote. "I'm thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go! 💍🙏♥️" Shortly after the news, Anna proved there was no bad blood between them when she congratulated the pair on social media and discussed the engagement on her podcast, Anna Faris Is Unqualified. "I'm so happy for them," she said. "I knew that it was gonna happen, and I love her and I love him, and I'm just so happy that they found each other." Well, apparently Katherine knew too, because she spoke their romance into existence a year ago!
Taraji P. Henson Isn't Taking a Penny Less Than She Deserves: "Honey, a Zero Is Missing"
The gender pay gap is excruciatingly unfair to women of color, and it's an unfortunate hurdle that affects even those at the top of their professions, including women in Hollywood. Taraji P. Henson - who has been in the game for over two decades - knows the struggle well and opened up about her experiences with pay negotiations in Net-a-Porter's digital magazine, The Edit. The Empire star's quotes about salary negotiations and no longer accepting less than her worth have vision-board potential. Seriously, they're that real.
"'Honey, a zero is missing. Tell them to go find it then call me back.'"
Of the pay discrepancy she faced while working on 2008's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Taraji was paid just $500,000 for her role, while costars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett reportedly made tens of millions - Taraji talked about having to "bite that bullet" and use it as a reminder never to settle for less again. "I didn't even ask for one million. But I had to see the bigger picture and bite that bullet," she said. "I knew that if I kept my ego in check I would get the victory. That performance was undeniable. I turned in an Academy-worthy f*cking performance. And what did they say? 'We shoulda paid her.'" Taraji's performance as Queenie earned her an Oscar nomination, as well as the respect of her peers and critics.
Since then, Taraji has remained outspoken about the gender pay gap, and when it comes to her work, she isn't taking a penny less than what she deserves. "'They wanna pay what?'" she said of less-than-ideal studio offers. "'Honey, a zero is missing. Tell them to go find it then call me back.' If you come to Taraji P. Henson, you need to come with that money, because I earned it." Ayyye.
How many of us needed this reminder to stand up for ourselves and demand what we deserve? Women of color are often expected to work hard and accept whatever we get. We can shy away from asking for more for fear of seeming "angry" or "difficult," which makes it increasingly hard to remember our worth. But as more and more women of color are rising to positions of power, it's imperative that we don't shrink; that we continue to speak out and speak up for ourselves and others whose worth is not represented in their pay. In Taraji's words, let's tell them to "go find it," then call us back.
Is True Detective Season 3 Based on This Horrifying Murder Case?
We're only two episodes into the third season of True Detective, and already we've turned into internet sleuths and late-night investigators. We've been quickly introduced to a ton of information about the crime, its victims, and potential suspects. While many theories have already started to circulate about who the killer is, there have been claims the case is beginning to look a lot like the West Memphis Three murder that rocked a small town in Arkansas in the early '90s.
Keep reading for the rundown on that case and its possible influence on True Detective season three. Be warned that graphic details of the real crime are included ahead.
The Crime
In 1993, three boys in West Memphis, Arkansas were murdered. Steve Branch, Michael Moore, and Christopher Byers were reported missing on May 5, 1993 after they did not return home. The boys' bodies were found the next day near a canal in Robin Hood Hills. From the start, the police officers investigating the crime believed these murders were part of a Satanic cult ritual because of how the bodies were found. The boys' clothing had been removed, and they were tied up with their own shoelaces. Byers's body was particularly gruesome - he had multiple lacerations to his body and genitalia, as well as bite marks on his buttocks. It was revealed in the autopsy that Moore and Branch had injuries consistent with drowning.
Eighteen-year-old Damien Echols emerged as a primary suspect in the crime because he had been known to read books on the occult, he listened to heavy-metal music, and he wore black t-shirts. This was at a time when "Satanic Panic" was gripping the nation, so all this information about Echols was taken very seriously. His polygraph test revealed findings consistent with lying, and eventually Echols revealed to police officers that one of the victims had injuries to this genitalia, which quickly became incriminating evidence.
Echols's two friends, 17-year-old Jessie Misskelley Jr. and 16-year-old Jason Baldwin, were thought to be participants in the crime, too. These three teenagers later became known as the "West Memphis Three," and they were tried for the murders in 1994. All three were found guilty of murder and sentenced to jail.
The Aftermath
There was been a lot of controversy surrounding the West Memphis Three, and whether or not their convictions were based on false confessions, fabricated suspect information, and the mishandling of the crime scene. Furthermore, DNA from the crime scene was tested in 2007, and none of the findings tied the three men to the victims.
In 2011, the three men were released from prison as part of an Alford plea deal, which allowed the defendants to plead guilty while maintaining their innocence. Many films, songs, and books tackling the crime and its aftermath have since been released.
The True Detective Connection
The crime at the focus of the third season of True Detective has some stark parallels to the West Memphis Three crime. For one, both crimes take place in small Arkansas towns. Additionally, both crimes deal with the occult and contain some Satanic elements, as evidenced through the corn-husk doll found next to Will's body. When Will and Julie Purcell leave their house for the last time, three teenage boys in a purple Volkswagen Beetle cross paths with the two children while they're riding their bikes. After the children go missing, two of the teenagers, Freddy Burns (Rhys Wakefield) and Ryan Peters (Brandon Flynn) are questioned. Detectives Hays and West question Flynn abut his Black Sabbath t-shirt, and West flat out asks Flynn if the shirt is meant to be Satanic?
In terms of the convictions, there are some parallels there, as well. There are some allusions in True Detective that whoever was convicted of Will Purcell's murder might not be the actual killer(s). There's a timeline in which Detective Hays is answering questions about the crime and the suspects, and the investigators in the room with him reference the fact that the investigation is being reopened. At the time of the West Memphis Three trial, many residents of the town believed that two of the boys' stepfathers were not investigated enough, which hints at another suspect in True Detective.
While it's possible series writer Nic Pizzolatto drew inspiration from the West Memphis Three, it's likely more of a nod than an imitation. The parallels are obvious, but True Detective has never been one to reveal the killer so early on. If anything, Pizzolatto is just trying to throw viewers for a loop, while the real killer has yet to make his/her presence known.
