Trump Allegedly Spent Thousands of Dollars on Makeup For His Aides During the Inauguration

We saw it with Melania's army green Zara jacket and Donald's WWE-style introduction during the GOP convention: the Trumps know the power of making a grand entrance.

In the 72 days leading up to Donald Trump taking his oath of office, that seemed to be top of mind. According to a new report from The New York Times, the president reportedly spent $10,000 on makeup and room service for 20 of his aides for an evening inauguration event. (Which, clocking in at $500 per person, can get you quite the haul at Sephora.) An additional $30,000 in per diem payments was expended to "dozens of contract staff members."

Makeup was just a slice of the overall pie in getting Trump inaugurated: the bill over the course of events surrounding the inauguration tallied upward of $100 million. No word yet on where his hair expenses landed in the mix, but we have a few theories.

Kesha's New Years Resolution Is to "Let Her Freckles Live," and AMEN

In 2019, you might have committed to a few beauty resolutions. Turns out, you're not the only one; celebrities have them, too. One particular star with a beauty resolution that might inspire you (because it's never too late in the year to start one) is Kesha. The "Here Comes the Change" singer posted a barefaced selfie on Instagram captioned: "this year my resolution is to love myself... just as I am, all f***ed up and imperfect and whatever else. And to let my freckles liiiiiiiive 🛸🛸💃🏼💃🏼💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻".

Fans in the comments were celebratory of Kesha's photo saying, "Being yourself. Courageous & beautiful!", and also agreeing that they, too, love their freckles: "yessss our freckles are wonderful and I'm so glad our world is realizing this!" Kesha isn't the first celebrity to show off her natural beauty: last year, many celebrities decided to embrace their freckles, including Christina Aguilera, Kylie Jenner, and Perrie Edwards, and of course Meghan Markle, which no doubt inspired others to do the same.

So turn Kesha's power ballad on repeat, and let her give you a little lesson in self-love.

If Annoying Men Are a Pain in Your Ash, SNL's "Leave Me Alurn" Is the Perfect Repellent

No matter what women do, sometimes men just won't get the hint. We can try faking a phone call, wearing headphones without music playing, smiling politely till the conversation ends, or simply saying, "no, thank you" - but that can get exhausting. What if there was a foolproof way to shut down a guy's advances without being rude? Well, that's where the "Leave Me Alurn" comes in.

During the Jan. 19 Saturday Night Live episode, the cast members and host Rachel Brosnahan pitched an imaginary product that would put an end to awkward, unwanted small talk. The "Leave Me Alurn" is a "conversation prophylactic," used to deflect attention from strangers. Don't let your solo vacation or night out get interrupted - just pull out your fake urn (which doubles as a water bottle and phone charger). Any conversation will be stopped dead in its tracks. Wish we could get one of our very own; especially when it comes with free lower back spikes!

12 January Destinations to Shake Your Holiday Hangover

Holiday hangovers are a real thing, and we're not just talking booze-wise. (Although, obviously, that too.) Festivity madness is undoubtedly exhausting, between thinking of thoughtful gifts, shopping for and wrapping said gifts, attending multitudes of merry gatherings, and managing to survive family-house-hopping craziness (insert a glass of wine - or five). So, gifting ourselves a "refresh-cation" might just be the best idea we've had all year.

Whatever your post-holiday unwind style, this roundup of January destinations has your back. Maybe you need something to work off those Christmas cookies . . . because is it even the holidays without the cookies? Perhaps you just need some solo peace and quiet . . . no problem. Or, quite possibly, you're mulling over trying something new for that new year's reset - we've got that, too.

If anything, this post-holiday travel inspiration might just give you a daydream escape to help soothe the inevitable effects of fielding dating questions from wacky Aunt Susan. You've most certainly earned a mini or not-so-mini break to look forward to in January when the holiday dust has settled. Start 2019 off on a refreshed foot with these relaxing, detoxing, and utterly restorative spots.

Think: yoga, beach, massage, meditation retreat, cozy fireplace reading. Feel: rejuvenated, refreshed, rebooted - and get some long overdue "you time."

SNL's Elizabeth Warren Defends Her 2020 Candidacy With a Medical Comparison

Kate McKinnon brought back her Senator Elizabeth Warren parody during the Jan. 19 episode of Saturday Night Live and addressed the politician's 2020 presidential candidacy. SNL's Warren sat down with Colin Jost on Weekend Update to discuss where she came from, her goals for the country, and the sexist remarks made against her. She used an analogy to reason that even if people consider her "unlikable," she could be as necessary as a prostate exam. Yep, you read that right.

"You need one or you die!" McKinnon's Warren joked. The faux senator also talked about her qualifications over possible opponents in the upcoming election. Watch the full interview above.

Mark Your Calendars! A (Not Fake) Super Blood Wolf Moon Is Happening This Month

A super blood wolf moon eclipse is occurring later this month, and no, you did not accidentally stumble upon some Twilight fan fiction. The rare lunar trifecta will be visible in the Americas, Iceland, Greenland, Western Europe, and West Africa on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, depending on the time zone.

So, what the heck is it exactly? A wolf moon is the term used for the first full moon of the year, so, that's that on the "wolf" part. A super moon, meanwhile, occurs when the moon is as its closest distance to Earth during its orbit, making it seem unusually large. To top it all off, the moon will also experience a total lunar eclipse, which will give it a reddish hue - hence why it's called a blood moon. In fact, the super blood wolf moon - deep breath - will be the only total lunar eclipse of 2019.

While the entire eclipse will last several hours, the total coverage of the moon will take place at 11:41 p.m. ET, lasting for just over an hour. Unfortunately, only a partial eclipse will be visible in Eastern Europe and East Africa, and most of Asia will not be able to experience the lunar event.

Miley Cyrus's Crystal-Encrusted Minidress Has a Plunging Cutout You'd Never Expect

Miley Cyrus certainly knows how to capture her audience's attention with her vocal abilities, stage presence, and amazing outfits. The newlywed hit the stage to give a powerful performance at the I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell concert at The Forum in Inglewood, CA.

For the concert, Miley wore two outfits: a tee with leather pants and an embellished minidress by Alexandre Vauthier that caught our attention. Her purple outfit was encrusted with glistening crystals that sparkled in the lights and featured a plunging keyhole cutout in the front. She finished her look with even more crystals, wearing Saint Laurent Niki boots ('cause a girl can never wear too many sparkles!). Read on to get a closer look and shop her exact dress, as well as more affordable pieces.

Jameela Jamil Wore Boots Under Her Critics' Choice Dress Because "Comfort"

Jameela Jamil truly knows how to make fashion comfortable. After hiding jeans under her dress at the 2019 Golden Globes because it was "forking COLD," the Good Place actress returned to the red carpet for the Critics' Choice Awards with another cozy addition to her outfit: combat boots. Before posing for photos, Jameela shared a photo on Twitter flashing her fabulous outfit for her followers. "Oscar De La Renta. In comfort. Ankle boots. The British way. 🇬🇧 Ready for Critics Choice benches," she wrote.

While her comfortable boots subtly peeked through the sheer lining of her gorgeous dress, we have to applaud Jameela for making award season outfits as comfortable as possible, and still not sacrificing an ounce of style. Ahead, see photos of Jameela's shoes hiding behind her gown and prepare to be inspired to swap your stilettos for boots on your next night out.

After sharing some adorable time with Stormi on the shore, Kylie set sail in an Onia x We Wore What cowhide-inspired one-piece. The Western trend lives on! Meghan Markle Slipped Into a Pair of Jeans, and Now We Have Our New Favorite Outfit

Meghan Markle's already shown off a lineup of chic sheath dresses and sequined gowns this week, but neither look got me as jazzed as seeing the duchess in a pair of jeans. When Meghan met with her new deputy communications secretary on Friday, she dressed down - and I really liked it!

She rolled her jeans at the ankle, showing off a pair of suede heels, and polished off her turtleneck with a dark wool coat, aviators, and a berry-colored Mulberry bag. It was a nice change-up to see the duchess looking so much like, well, herself - not that we don't love a glam moment or a tribute to Princess Diana. But in place of the glamorous dresses and royal heirlooms, Meghan looked just like a cool 30-something with great style - style we can all relate to.

Rihanna Is Coming Out With Fenty Sunglasses Because CLEARLY She Wants Every Dime of Mine

When we first saw Rihanna's outfit from a club appearance in NYC, our eyes instantly zoomed into her amazing Balenciaga boot pants, but we should've been paying attention to her futuristic sunglasses. Thanks to her fans on Twitter who apparently miss nothing (as one of our editors said, "Thankfully, the Navy is laser-focused"), we realized that queen RiRi is expanding her ever-growing empire by releasing a Fenty accessories collection.

Needless to say, our office went wild, and the hilarity ensued in our group chat:

  • "I wonder if there's a way to funnel Rihanna my money through like a direct deposit or something? Just take it out of my paycheck like child support."
  • "She wants every dime of mine."
  • "Waits for my Fenty shoes and my Fenty couch."
  • "I want Fenty cutlery and cookware!"

While we're waiting on the rest of Rihanna's lifestyle brand, she apparently wore two different styles of her upcoming collection without anyone even noticing. First, she rocked an oversize visor style that featured studded embellishment, and later she styled her boot pants with a pair of black and silver frames that had Fenty written on the side in bold letters. Read on to get a closer look, along with Twitter's reactions.

I Hate Wearing Jeans on the Plane, and This $52 Tracksuit Is Perfect For Traveling

Is there really anything worse than being stuck on a plane for hours, sweating in too-tight jeans? In case you can't tell, I've learned from experience; it's not my favorite thing. Years ago, I switched from wearing denim when traveling and decided to opt for cute and comfy track pants that basically feel like pajamas but are still stylish enough that I won't have to worry about getting kicked off a plane.

I recently treated myself to this Striped Velour Top ($26, originally $44) and matching Jogger Pant ($26, originally $44) set from the latest POPSUGAR collection at Kohl's release, and I'm so obsessed with it.

Just last weekend I flew cross-country, and they were perfect for my five-hour flight. The best part? I got even more use out of them by styling them as separates on my trip. The cozy striped sweater was perfect to pair with jeans for a chill dinner, and I rocked the joggers on a casual day with my favorite hoodie. Need more convincing? They're on sale right now, so what are you waiting for?

Lady Gaga's Critics' Choice Awards Dress Is Pure Elegance, and Then Some

Leave it to Lady Gaga to choose the most elegant, soft pink gown that exists in this world for the 2019 Critics' Choice Awards. After impressing in a voluminous blue Valentino gown at the Golden Globes, Gaga toned down the glamour, but was just as lovely to look at as she showed off the long train on her strapless Calvin Klein By Appointment number, which came in the prettiest shade of petal pink. Scroll to see how she accessorized with megawatt Djula diamond studs, Giuseppe Zanotti heels, and her beautiful engagement ring.

When Kate Middleton Goes Gardening, Even Her Earrings Have to Fit the Theme

The Duchess of Cambridge knows a thing or two about dressing appropriately for the occasion, so it's no surprise that when she took a trip to Islington, London, to visit the King Henry's Walk Garden, an award-winning community green space, she wore an outfit that was perfect for getting stuck into a spot of gardening. But this is the wife of the future king we're talking about, so this was a gardening outfit with a twist. After all, how many of us put on our best diamond earrings when we're planting bulbs?

For her trip back to nature (and a spot of al fresco pizza-making), Kate didn't skimp on details. As well as those Kiki McDonough earrings (which are leaf-shaped, in keeping with the occasion), she opted for a fitted funnel neck tweed coat by Dubarry, a burgundy knit sweater, army green skinny jeans, and a pair of lace-up suede ankle boots. On previous engagements that required this kind of "country chic" look, Kate's almost always whipped out her beloved Penelope Chivers knee-high boots. But perhaps that decade-old design is finally ready to be replaced? These new See By Chloe boots, which the duchess wore with the laces tied low on the ankle, were a much more modern update and had a little something in common with a pair of suede Stuart Weitzman boots that her sister-in-law sported toward the end of last year. Keep reading for a closer look and to shop Kate's look for yourself.

Meghan Markle's New Outfit Is Drawing Comparisons to Princess Diana, Because, Well, Look at Her

Pairing red and purple together is the kind of style move you don't forget, but Meghan Markle's take on the color combo is memorable for another reason. When the duchess of Sussex stepped out on Monday in a bright Aritzia Maxwell by Babaton dress and cherry red Sentaler coat, she made us think, could it be a tribute to Princess Diana? Long before Meghan, Diana showed off the more unconventional color combo on three separate occasions (that we have the photos of): a trip to India in 1992, a trip to Hong Kong in 1989, and on tour in Bangkok in 1988.

So, when Meghan emerged wearing the same shades of purple and red, we instantly saw a bit of Diana in her look. The polished separates were mixed and matched to create the same effect: bold with sophistication. And, even while a couple of Diana's looks and Meghan's fall near Valentine's Day on the calendar, none of these outfits could ever be called cheesy. They're done with just the right proportions, making the outfits feel easy, never fussy. It's a way both women have with clothes, no matter what they're wearing.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is Building a Wardrobe With a Message - and We're All Ears

When politics becomes a space where critics, skeptics, and worse - antifeminists and racists - have used a thinly veiled fashion commentary to undercut their opposition, personal style becomes something of a public battleground, imbued with hidden meaning. Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama certainly know something about that. But even newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has barely spent a week in Congress, has already endured attacks on her appearance that were launched even before she took her oath as a member of the House.

Unfortunately, that's just how it goes. When we should be focusing on her message, we've been trained to look at her clothes, her smile, her hair. Even a look as innocuous as a black blazer has been the subject of scrutiny by a conservative writer who deemed the jacket too expensive-looking for a middle-class woman, an attempt to undermine Alexandria's message by attacking her clothing choice because it was what - too put-together? Too polished for someone "struggling"? It didn't accurately reflect who she says she is and what she says she stands for? If you believe that, you clearly haven't been paying attention.

The youngest woman ever elected to Congress didn't get here by accident. She's deliberate and direct with her messages - and that includes her wardrobe. She's leaning into the scrutiny with intentional clothing and accessories, as if to say, if the world is going to talk about my fashion choices, I'll give them something to talk about. In that vein, she dressed in a white suit, gold hoops, and a red lip for her swearing in in Congress and let us all know why on Twitter, adeptly paying homage to both the strong women who have come before her and the strong women she represents:

Watch her take control of her own style narrative, using her dress to inform, to provoke, to fire right back at her haters. In a place where dressing cues are so often used to objectify or sublimate women, Alexandria is flipping it all on its head, using what she wears to do the exact opposite: to show herself, to connect to other women, and to connect to women of color. As far as I'm concerned, that's the making of a great leader – and a fashion icon.

Here, take a look at some of our favorite fashion moments so far.

Trends Come and Go, but We'll Always Be Crushing on These 15 Bags

It's confession time: if we could only buy one accessory forever, we'd buy bags. First of all, we've got phones and wallets and lip gloss, and we need somewhere to put them. Plus, they're just fun to look at. If you're in the market for a new carryall, our advice is to invest in something classic. You know, the picks that go with every outfit. Sophisticated and elegant, these 15 bags are always winners.

This Surfboard Photo Could Be the Next "The Dress" Debate: Do You See Bumps or Grooves?

When a fellow POPSUGAR employee was texting with a group of his surf buddies about this Craigslist ad for a used surfboard, he mentioned to the group that based on this up-close photo of the board, it must be damaged, because it looks like something had eaten away at the surface. He quickly sparked a debate with his friends, who either saw wax bumps or wax-filled grooves. We brought the debate to the office, and the photo created a divide: team bumps or team grooves. And yes, the great dress color debate of 2015 was brought up.

Keep reading for the hilarious group text convo that started it all plus the explanation straight from the guy who posted the ad!

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Gives Brilliant Speech at Women's March: "This Is About Justice"

Newly-elected New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez empowered crowds as she took the stage at two Women's Marches in NYC on Jan. 19. The 29-year-old politician, and the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, gave compelling speeches to the march attendees and encouraged them to pursue justice endlessly.

"Justice is not a concept we read about in a book. Justice is about the water we drink. Justice is about the air we breathe. Justice is about how easy it is to vote. Justice is about how much ladies get paid," Ocasio-Cortez said. "Justice is about making sure that being polite is not the same thing as being quiet. In fact, oftentimes the most righteous thing you can do is shake the table."

Ocasio-Cortez encouraged listeners to fight for an America "where all people are welcome and no people are left behind." She acknowledged the future leaders in the crowd, who were taking her words to heart.

"I know that while this year has been historic, there's a lot more congresswomen left here in this audience right now," she said. "There's a lot more city council women . . . and I know that there's a future president out here too."

Bailey Cooper, a 9-year-old boy who was told he only had a few days or weeks to live after cancer had spread throughout his whole body, is posthumously inspiring so many people with his heart. Beating the odds, Bailey held on long enough to meet and name his new baby sister, Millie, before passing away on Christmas Eve of 2017.

Bailey's battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma over the course of just more than a year was filled with ups and downs. By the time the cancer was discovered late in 2016, it was already in stage three. Despite how advanced the cancer was by then, immediately starting chemotherapy and medications led to remission in February 2017. Unfortunately, by Easter, Bailey had relapsed, but he fought hard and went into remission yet again in July 2017.

"We had six weeks at home with him that Summer," his mother, Rachel, told Bristol Post. It was amazing."

But by August, the cancer was back, and not only was it in stage four by then, but it was very aggressive and spreading fast. "She told us there wasn't very long left - it was only days or weeks," said Bailey's father, Lee.

Jessica Simpson Found a Remedy For Her Swollen Foot, and It Brought Back Her "Skankles"

Jessica Simpson has finally found some relief for her swollen foot. After crowdsourcing remedies from her social media fanbase, the 38-year-old mom of two turned to an ancient Chinese practice to help alleviate the uncomfortable symptom of her third pregnancy.

Jessica shared a photo of her left foot and ankle to Instagram on Jan. 10, and asked her followers for advice on how to treat the swelling. While swollen feet are common during pregnancy, they can absolutely be irritating. Jessica's fans responded with a variety of solutions, and the singer eventually turned to a therapy many celebrities and athletes use to treat muscle pain: cupping.

Scientific studies still remain inconclusive on the benefits of cupping, but Jessica appeared to see results as she shared a photo of her "skankles," AKA skinny ankles. She'll be slipping on those "boots made for walking" again in no time.

60 Unusual Baby Names That’ll Kick the Trendy Names Off Your List in 2019

As someone who lives her life with the name Alessia, I'm used to having to correct people on the pronunciation and spelling of my name - and though I missed out on personalized pencils as a kid and have lost hundreds of spare moments reintroducing myself to people who aren't compassionate enough to hold a unique name in their brains for more than three seconds, I've learned to own my name. I'm glad I'm not Nicole S. or Katie with the brown hair, that's for sure. If you're looking to kick the trendy names off your baby name list in 2019 to opt for something that'll spice up your child's future class roster the way Alessia did for me, we've sifted through some of our absolute favorite unusual names to inspire you.

I threw my own name in there (Sue me!), but really, these 60 names are good.

1 Mom May Have Solved the Problem of Kids Wearing Coats in Car Seats Once and For All

Like every other parent under the sun, Dahlia Rezik - a mom of three from New Hampshire - wants her kids to be as safe as possible in the car. But you know what presents a hazard during the Winter months? Bulky coats. Rather than enduring the struggle of getting her kid from place to place without a coat for another second, Dahlia decided to do something about it by creating a line of car-seat-safe outerwear called Buckle Me Baby Coats.

"One day, feeling totally defeated by the No Coat Thing, I thought if the zipper wasn't in the middle . . . Enter instant excitement! I applied for a patent and did the next logical thing, I spoke with every coat manufacturer imaginable," Dahlia explained on her website. "I thought they would jump on the idea, but they didn't believe that coats and car seats had anything to do with one another. They weren't in the trenches though - I was - and I knew other parents were, too."

And yes, according to experts, buckling your kids into their car seats with their Winter coats on can be particularly dangerous.

"Wearing coats, heavy sweaters, or fleeces, for that matter, can prevent a snug and very important fit of the harness, which has to be tight at the shoulders and hips every time," said Safe Kids Worldwide. "You might think your child is securely snug in the car seat when in fact the harness is not tight enough because there is so much air in the coat or clothing."

So what's so special about Buckle Me Baby Coats? The front panels of the garment pull to the side and the shoulder seam is actually in the back of the jacket so the car seat straps can go underneath the coat, rather than over the top. (There's a full video tutorial on the site!).

Although the American Academy of Pediatrics hasn't signed off on the line just yet, Buckle Me Baby Coats is a much safer option than simply buckling your child in with a normal jacket on. After all, those chest straps need to be snug. Read through to get a look at Dahlia's line.

Margot Robbie's Response to the "Babies?" Question Is Relatable as Hell

Can people just enjoy their marital bliss, please? Margot Robbie candidly addressed the pressure to have kids right after marriage, and her quotes will likely leave many newlyweds nodding in agreement. In a recent interview with Radio Times, the Mary Queen of Scots actress expressed her frustration over questions about when she'd like to get pregnant since marrying Tom Ackerley a little over two years ago.

"Don't presume. I'll do what I'm going to do."

"I got married, and the first question in almost every interview is, 'Babies? When are you having one?' I'm so angry that there's this social contract," Margot said. "You're married, now have a baby. Don't presume. I'll do what I'm going to do." At that point, her costar Saoirse Ronan chimed in with a very valid point and said, "Only women get asked that when they get married. Men don't."

Margot and Tom married in a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia, in December 2016. Though she is fairly mum about her relationship with the British assistant director and producer, she confirmed her marriage by sharing a cheeky picture, shown below, flipping her ring finger to the camera.
