If you had to guess which character from The Office went on to end up in jail following the series finale in 2013, who would it be? Maybe Creed, for some mysterious albeit creepy reason? Or Dwight, after a prank gone wrong? I, certainly, wouldn't have guessed that Kelly Kapoor - Dunder Mifflin's snarky, insecure, Ryan-obsessed customer-service rep - would get put behind bars. But Mindy Kaling, who originated the hilarious role, recently explained to Variety why a stint in the big house actually makes a ton of sense for Kelly.
"There is not an insignificant part of me that thinks that Kelly might be in jail," the Late Night star said, in reference to Kelly's unhealthy romance obsession with her coworker, Ryan (B.J. Novak). "A crime of passion? The character just kept getting a little bit more and more unhinged . . . I don't want to say that she murdered Ryan, but I am also not convinced that he is still alive in the world of The Office. It's been 11 years, right?"

Lady Gaga Weighs In on Bradley Cooper's Oscar Snub, and Now We're Feeling at Peace
Ally - er, Lady Gaga - has spoken. Just hours after this year's Oscar nominees were announced, Gaga weighed in on the fact that her A Star Is Born costar Bradley Cooper was notably left out of the best director category. Though many fans were grabbing their pitchforks and readying a revolt against the Academy, the 32-year-old singer and actress had a more positive outlook on the lack of recognition for Bradley's directorial debut.
"You never know what's going to happen," she told The Los Angeles Times on Jan. 22. "But at the end of the day, he knows that he's the best director in my eyes, and in all of our eyes as his cast." Aww! We just love their supportive friendship so much. Lady Gaga added that Bradley's still thrilled about A Star Is Born's laundry list of other nominations, including best picture and best achievement in cinematography. "I know that he's so happy that we've all been nominated and that the film was recognized and we all feel really, really beyond elated for the recognition," she said.
Of course, Bradley also spoke out on his various nominations, though he didn't mention his best director snub. "When I got this opportunity I knew I had to risk it all because I may never get another chance," he said in an official statement. "To be here today in a place where people who have seen the film are talking about how it makes them feel, something deep - that simple human thing, that we need each other - and the Academy to recognize that this morning . . . I just am so grateful." We're certainly grateful that Bradley "risked it all" to direct this movie, and you can catch us cheering on the whole A Star Is Born cast come Oscars night.

Dying to Watch Old Seasons of The Bachelor? Well . . .
The very first episode of The Bachelor premiered on March 25, 2002. Back then, it seemed crazy that two people could fall in love with each other, much less get engaged, in a matter of weeks. And yet, Bachelor Nation continued coming for more, proving that we just can't get enough of the ABC show. If you feel like taking a trip down memory lane, and seeing Chris Harrison in all his glory, it might be time to binge-watch some old seasons.
From seasons one to 22, there have been a whole lot of memorable moments. Thanks to ABC's tribute video to the host with the most, we know that there have been 6,578 kisses, 2,924 roses, and 37 proposals. Unfortunately, Netflix and Hulu won't help you see every single one of them. Neither streaming service offers old seasons. Even ABC's website only gives you access to episodes from the current season. At this rate, it seems easier to get the first-impression rose than to find previous seasons online.
Don't lose hope just yet! Seasons 13 to 22 are available on Amazon Prime Video. You can buy them for $2 per episode, or $14 to $15 for each season. Meanwhile, seasons 13 and 15 to 22 are available for $2 per episode via On Demand services. That means you can watch Jason Mesnick, Jake Pavelka, Ben Flajnik, Sean Lowe, Juan Pablo Galavis, Chris Soules, Ben Higgins, Nick Viall, and Arie Luyendyk Jr. make their ways to handing out the final rose to the women they may or may not still be with.
There does not appear to be access to seasons one through 12 anywhere. Recaps of the early seasons are available on ABC, but if you want to see Alex Michel, Aaron Buerge, Andrew Firestone, Bob Guiney, and the other OGs on their hunts for love in full episodes, this is not the news you want to hear. Now could you potentially find every season your heart desires? Maybe. It is the internet, after all. But we don't see them readily (read: legally) accessible.
Just so we're not totally leaving you hanging, we have updates on every single bachelor who has ever handed out roses. Remember Charlie O'Connell, Jerry O'Connell's younger brother? He's married to a Playboy Playmate. And you might have seen Travis Lane Stork, MD, on TV as the host of The Doctors. And Italian Prince Lorenzo Borghese is all about beers and dogs these days (and appears to be single).
If there's one thing we've learned from watching all of these seasons of The Bachelor, it's that you can never really predict how the finale or couples will go. Some men may fall in love with two women, some may give the final rose to the wrong women, and some may give it to no one at all. It's an emotional roller coaster for the contestants and the audience. But as long as the drama continues and there isn't a shortage of single men and women, we'll be watching with plenty of snacks and wine on hand.
This ICONIC Britney Spears Performance Got the Funko Pop! Treatment, and I Can't Breathe
Hello, good day! Do you have a minute to talk about our lord and savior, Britney Jean Spears? On an unassuming January day, the delightful company known as Funko unveiled something truly awe-inspiring: it's decided to immortalize one of the pop princess's most iconic performances. I'm sure, even as I utter the words, you'll be able to conjure the image. In 2001, at the esteemed MTV VMAs, Spears gave a truly legendary performance to the tune of one of her sexiest bops: the queen performed "Slave 4 U," and she sauntered out on the stage, with her scarves and abs and pierced belly button, with a snake draped over her golden tanned shoulders. It has gone down as one of her best VMAs moments, and possibly one of her most memorable moments to date.
And now, we have an incredible, quite detailed Funko Pop! Rocks: Britney Spears - "Slave 4 U" figurine. It's got everything. The headset. The belly button ring. The scarves. The snake. The flash tattoos! At just $11, all you have to do is prepare lunch for a day rather than picking up a salad at some cute nearby cafe. The only sad news is that the figurine won't be available until March 8. But, hey. We can wait. Oh, and just for good measure, we threw in a few pictures from that fateful day.
Let's Investigate What REALLY Happened to Candace on You
Warning: This post contains spoilers for You season one.
Imagine if Hugh Grant's character in Notting Hill had a duplicitous, Norman Bates-y alter ego, and you'll get a taste for Netflix's You. The series, which originally aired on Lifetime, revolves around the murder sprees of a charismatic, yet deeply disturbed bookstore owner named Joe. Beck, the ill-fated apple of his wicked eye, drives Joe's twisted impulses throughout the show's first season. As Beck's story unfolds, we also learn about the serial killer's former musician girlfriend Candace by means of hallucinations and flashbacks.
Joe's relationship with Candace initially appears to just be a backdrop for his present behavior. We're led to believe that Joe finished her off somehow. Lo and behold, the twist ending of the debut season then had us thinking otherwise. So, did Joe actually kill Candace? Let's investigate.
What Happens
Joe and Candace's love story could've been one for the books . . . if not for the murder. (Not a series for kids, folks.) At the beginning of the show, Joe bumps into his friend at a party, where she tells him that she thought it was odd that his ex just left everyone to go to Italy. Of course, we didn't buy it. Because he's a lying liar who lies. (And a murdering murderer who murders.) Plus, he has a lot of what appear to be guilt-induced hallucinations of Candace.
In a later flashback, Joe catches Candace cheating on him with a record executive named Elijah, who he pushes off of a rooftop during a moment of blind rage. It's later revealed that Candace's mentally ill brother is dead - and come on, Joe probably killed him. It's easy to make the leap that Candace is gone-zo as well, until she unexpectedly pops up at Joe's bookstore months after Beck's death, telling him, "I think we have some unfinished business to talk about," Joe evidently quite surprised that she isn't dead.
Why She's Dead . . . For Real
Long story short, Joe hallucinates Candace all throughout the first season. It's obvious that Joe is a deeply unreliable narrator, so who's to say he's not just imagining that Candace is in his bookshop in the finale? Plus, in the source material itself, Caroline Kepnes's book of the same name, his ex is dead after he drowns her at the beach. At the end of the book, a new woman enters his bookstore to apply for a job and begins flirting with him. If the show is faithfully sticking to the novel, Candace is a hallucination.
Why She's Alive
All things considered, the case for Candace being alive is feasible. We don't see a body or a scene of her murder. If Joe did indeed try to drown her like in the book, he may have failed, and she may have lived to tell the tale. There's also her secret and allegedly new Instagram, which Joe shows to Beck to prove that he's not a psychotic killer. It looks fake and Joe-crafted (or could belong to a total stranger), but there's a small chance that it might be real.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, showrunner Sera Gamble noted, "I can tell you we will see more of Candace and that she shakes Joe to the core with what she brings to the story. And so it propels that character [Joe] a lot in what he decides to do next."
As the next part of the series involves Joe moving to Los Angeles, we might see Candace hunting him down or vice versa. After agonizing over Candace's unknown status, why not treat yourself to some more dark and steamy Netflix thrillers while awaiting the upcoming second season of You?
You: Sorry, Netflix, but We're Not Buying This Major Twist

On a normal romantic drama, the usual tension is, will they or won't they? On Netflix's thriller series You, it's more along the lines of, will they, won't they, and oh my goodness, is the person you love actually a psychopath?! A gripping foray into the dark underbelly of the digital age, the series rolls out a talented cast that includes not only Penn Badgley from Gossip Girl as the creepy protagonist Joe. but also Shay Mitchell as his lover's queen bee best friend who hails from literary royalty. Seriously, the internet can't get enough of Mitchell's high-key manipulative Peach Salinger, who's just the literal opposite of Holden Caulfield.
Mitchell won't be returning to the show as a cast member, given her character's rather grim fate. "I would have liked to see her [Peach] last a little longer, to be honest. But it is what it is," the actress said in an interview with Spot. It may be hard to imagine how Peach could ever return, but we do have some theories up our sleeves as to how she can pop up again in season two of You.
What Happens
If you recall, Joe dislikes Peach from the get-go, who disapproves of him as her sweet Beck's boyfriend. The plot thickens when he steals her laptop and discovers her obsession with Beck. After a failed attempt to kill the Salinger heir with a rock, Joe follows her and Beck up to her posh family home in Connecticut, cagily breaking and entering. The two women fight, and after Beck storms off, Peach figures out he's in her home and corners him with her gun. Joe gets grazed with a bullet but overpowers her and grabs the weapon. Cut to Peach's suicide note and police at the crime scene. Oh Joseph, how could you?
Why We're Not Convinced
It looks like Peach is pretty dead, given that her family's hiring a private investigator to look into her alleged suicide. But what if Peach isn't completely gone? Yes, this sounds paranoid, but anything can happen on You. Riffing off of Badgley in the same Spot interview, Mitchell also asked, "But do you think Peach could have gotten to a point of more obsession?" It's an ominous query indeed, and when coupled with widespread support for Peach's character, could mean a bigger role for the actress. While we do see shots of coroners zipping up a body bag on the Salinger estate, we haven't seen the actual body or Joe shooting her yet. Fake-out deaths are a thing - remember Sherlock? If we've learned anything from Gone Girl, Peach might be one step ahead of Joe and plotting her return if she's alive.
How She Could Return
A more credible theory is that Peach will come back as a figment of Joe's imagination. Call it the manifestation of his guilty conscience and paranoia from a P.I. on his tail. We've already seen him hallucinate Candace (who could still be alive) throughout the show's first season, after all. Plus, showrunner Sera Gamble has commented that Joe might be haunted by his past actions in the second season. We're ready for more snippy one-liners, even if they're coming from ghost Peach. Meet Angelo Roefaro, the Press Secretary Caught Up in the Fyre Festival Fiasco
Thanks to a pair of brand-new documentaries (one available on Netflix, the other now streaming on Hulu) focused on the disastrous story of 2017's infamous Fyre Festival, we're talking about the influencer scam all over again. We're also talking more about Billy McFarland, the founder of Fyre Media and the organizer of the failed festival. McFarland is currently serving a six-year sentence in federal prison for fraud (both those related to the festival and subsequent, unrelated counts). After the release of the documentaries, however, people took notice of a background figure in one scene, referred to as "Angelo." As it turned out, "Angelo" is actually a press secretary for a high-ranking politician.
Angelo, seen in the background of a scene at McFarland's penthouse hotel room, is Angelo Roefaro, currently the press secretary for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (a Democrat from New York). In Netflix's Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, Roefero is seen sitting on a couch, with his laptop, in McFarland's penthouse suite. The narration from a witness identifies him only as "Angelo," before speculating that he might have helped McFarland with press work at some point.
"There's a guy named Angelo and I don't know if it was Billy's PR guy, but I know that this guy was very connected," the witness says. On camera, Roefaro's voice is barely audible.
"Just try and keep me out of your stuff, because . . . I'm not saying anything," Roefaro says, according to the subtitles. The documentary's graphics also identify his professional affiliations with Senator Schumer. In response, McFarland laughs.
"We're not saying anything bad. You can talk. You can give me advice," McFarland says. The documentary does not show whether the conversation continued or, if it did, what the content of their conversation was from that point on.
When WBIX 950, a Utica, NY, radio station, interviewed Roefaro in January, he explained that he had been "friends" with McFarland, but that was it: "We were friends. I met him at a networking event and we got along. That night [shown in the documentary], as a result of a TV show or movie being filmed in his apartment, he had a very nice complimentary penthouse hotel room near my own apartment and invited me over to check it out." He went on to clarify that he didn't know anyone else in the room, just McFarland.
The New York Post also reported that Roefaro denied any connection to the Fyre Festival: "Absolutely not," he replied when asked about the documentary's implications that he had used his connections and PR knowledge to help McFarland try to avoid jail time (at the time, McFarland was out on bail after the initial round of sentencing). As far as publicly available information can tell, there is no evidence that Roefaro was officially connected with McFarland or with Fyre Festival in any capacity. According to WBIX 950, he began working for Senator Schumer in 2011 in a lower-level position before being named as his press secretary. Roefaro's involvement may have been tangential or nonexistent, but his brief appearance in the documentary and his high-profile job have certainly drawn plenty of attention in the aftermath of the movie's debut.

M. Night Shyamalan has created quite a cast of characters to populate his Eastrail 177 Trilogy - Unbreakable, Split, and now Glass - but few are as interesting as Kevin Wendell Crumb.
The character, played with aplomb by Atomic Blonde's James McAvoy, suffers from dissociative identity disorder, with 24 individual personalities living within his psyche. McAvoy's performance in Split as Kevin Wendell Crumb is astounding, adding depth and layers to many of the personalities we meet and playing them so distinctively that he all but disappears into each of the new voices. In Glass, the film brings together the characters of Split and Unbreakable, and the 39-year-old Scottish actor ends up with an even greater task at hand because of his surroundings. Just be warned: spoilers for Glass to follow from this point on!

Most of the film takes place within the walls of a psychiatric facility, where Kevin, David Dunn (Bruce Willis), and Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) are being held by the mysterious, devious psychologist Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson). She spends countless hours attempting to convince the three that they don't actually have superhuman abilities, coming up with excuses for everything they're able to do in an attempt to prove they're suffering from delusions. She uses all of their "weaknesses" against them to keep them in check - spraying David with water, drugging Mr. Glass to keep his mind hazy - and uses a bright flashing light to trigger Kevin to cycle to a different, less dangerous personality.
This means McAvoy switches between more and more personalities than he does in the previous film, resulting in a better portrait of "The Horde" (what Kevin's personalities collectively call themselves) than ever before. Fyre Festival's Billy McFarland Is in Prison - Here's How Long He'll Be There
With a pair of documentaries revisiting the complicated and complete disaster that was the infamous Fyre Festival, the name Billy McFarland is back in the headlines. The organizer of the festival and former founder and CEO of Fyre Media was depicted in both the Hulu and Netflix documentaries as the fraudster behind the chaos. After the festival's many failings were revealed, McFarland was stuck facing the music. For committing wire and mail fraud, as well as for his falsified investment documents and more, McFarland was ultimately sentenced to prison. On Oct. 11, 2018, he was officially given a sentence of six years in federal prison, which he is currently serving at FCI Otisville in New York.
McFarland's history of roping people into his schemes, as outlined in a Vanity Fair article, was long-running. The Fyre Festival itself was not intended just as a music festival but as a gigantic promotional effort around his latest venture: the little-known Fyre Media app. Launched through a social media campaign that included such big names as Bella Hadid, Ja Rule, and Kendall Jenner, the festival quickly gained steam and guests. Investors, too, flocked to the project - and all the while, the actual organizing of the festival was left behind.
For the Hulu documentary, Fyre Fraud, McFarland actually sat down with the filmmakers to tell his side of the story. But even then, he managed to play his own games. According to E!, McFarland had also been approached by the Netflix team but asked for money, playing the two documentary teams against each other and ultimately walking away with a paycheck from Hulu when Netflix refused to pay him to be in its doc, Fyre.
McFarland is currently in prison, and he's likely to remain there for some time. This is especially true given what McFarland did after being arrested for his crimes in connection to the Fyre Festival case. While he was out on bail and awaiting his trial in 2018, McFarland set up yet another fraudulent business venture. This one, titled NYC VIP Access, purported to sell tickets to major cultural events, mostly in New York City, such as the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Coachella, and the Met Gala.
So what does McFarland's future look like? Not great at all. While it's unclear whether he could have his sentence shortened for good behavior, the sheer nature of his convictions will make it hard for him to build a future endeavor, even if he does get released before his current 2024 scheduled date. His criminal record was only compounded by the addition of charges related to his NYC VIP Access scam as well. After the Fyre Festival fiasco, many articles - and now, of course, a pair of documentaries - began digging into McFarland's past ventures, discovering a charming scammer who got a lot of people to give him a lot of money to do very little. Now that his reputation is out there, not to mention his significant fraud convictions, it seems pretty likely he'll have a hard time convincing someone to invest with him again.

Here's What You Need to Know About the Controversies Surrounding Green Book

When Oscar nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, one of the more controversial films of the year was heavily represented. Green Book, the feel-good drama about a black pianist and his white driver in the 1960s deep South, received several major nominations, including nods for stars Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali, as well as a best picture nom.
While the story of interracial friendship in the civil rights era might seem like a typical movie, Green Book has been dogged by controversy since its release. Below, we're breaking down why the award season favorite is not such a favorite in many circles.
(Not) Based on a True Story
Green Book claims to be based heavily on a true story. Cowriter Nick Vallelonga's father, Tony "Lip" Vallelonga, was the white driver (played by Mortensen) who was assigned to escort concert pianist Dr. Don Shirley through his tour in the South, and Vallelonga's film purports to be based on the men's real story. However, Shirley's family disputed the veracity of the film in an interview with Shadow and Act in December 2018.
Calling the film a "symphony of lies," the Shirley family refuted many of the plot points in the film. Dr. Shirley's estrangement from his family - and from the black community as a whole - was not true to history; he was, in fact, close to his family and active in the civil rights movement. The family also explained that Vallelonga Sr. and Shirley's relationship was purely professional, not a personal friendship, and that Shirley himself had rejected the idea of the film when Nick Vallelonga first approached him about it. Ultimately, the family criticized the movie harshly for exaggerating stories and making up other parts wholesale, all without consulting Dr. Shirley's surviving family.
For his part, Vallelonga told Variety that he got his information directly from his father and Dr. Shirley. He went on to claim that he spoke to Dr. Shirley before his death in 2013 and that the pianist gave his blessing and told him not to speak to any other sources, including his family.
Ali, meanwhile, reached out to the Shirley family after the controversy broke, as Vulture reported.
"I got a call from Mahershala Ali, a very, very respectful phone call, from him personally. He called me and my Uncle Maurice in which he apologized profusely if there had been any offense," Shirley's nephew Edwin said. "What he said was, 'If I have offended you, I am so, so terribly sorry. I did the best I could with the material I had. I was not aware that there were close relatives with whom I could have consulted to add some nuance to the character.'"

Creative Team's Past
The dispute with Dr. Shirley's family wasn't the only hot water that the Green Book creative team found themselves in. Twitter users discovered a nasty, Islamophobic tweet by Nick Vallelonga (center above, with Brian Currie and Peter Farrelly at the Golden Globes) that agreed with then-candidate Donald Trump's claims that Muslims were seen celebrating the fall of the Twin Towers on 9/11.
"100% correct. Muslims in Jersey City cheering when towers went down. I saw it when you did, possibly on local CBS News," read the now-deleted tweet. Vallelonga's claim - and the theory as a whole - was debunked after the initial theory was circulated in 2016. Two days after the tweet was discovered and then deleted, Vallelonga issued an apology "to everyone associated with Green Book... and all members of the Muslim faith for the hurt I have caused."
Vallelonga wasn't the only Green Book team member with offensive moments resurfacing. During a Q&A session for the movie and a conversation about hate speech, Mortensen spoke the N-word aloud and uncensored as an example of speech that is no longer tolerated. He swiftly issued an apology, stating in part: "I have no right to even imagine the hurt that is caused by hearing that word in any context, especially from a white man. I do not use the word in private or in public. I am very sorry that I did use the full word last night, and will not utter it again."
Director Peter Farrelly also was the focus of some controversy of a different nature. A Newsweek article from 1998, focused on Farrelly's earlier film There's Something About Mary, revealed that Farrelly and his brother, writer/director Bobby Farrelly, had a trademark "prank" that they played: tricking cast and crew into looking at Farrelly's genitals.
"You may think you're going to be examining a mysterious blotch on Peter's torso, or checking out his new watchband. The reality is a good deal more shocking," the article narrates. The Cut assembled other interviews in which Farrelly talked gleefully about this "joke"; in the present day, he issued a comment that he was "an idiot" in the days when he performed this stunt repeatedly.

Depictions of Race Relations
A warm-and-fuzzy story about an interracial friendship is just the kind of film that critics tend to love, but Green Book's particular brand of race relations has raised eyebrows. The film, which prominently features several moments in which Mortensen's "Lip" rescues Dr. Shirley from racists or introduces him to the music of prominent black musicians, has been criticized for being reductive and a "white savior" narrative that fails to reckon with the complexity of Shirley's black identity, as one critic in Vanity Fair explained. The film has also been unfavorably compared to other acclaimed films with black leads, such as fellow Oscar nominees BlacKkKlansman and Black Panther, and their depictions of racial identity and relations.
The creative team described the theme of the film to NBC News as simply "show[ing] that communication, love and shared experience... that everyone is the same, and has the same human emotions."
Despite these controversies, Green Book has already racked up some serious hardware: it won best picture honors at the Golden Globes and from the Producers Guild. It remains to be seen if the backlash will affect its Oscar hopes when the awards are handed out on Feb. 24.
A New H.P. Lovecraft Horror Adaptation Is Coming to Scare the Absolute Sh*t Out of You
Whether or not you know his name, H.P Lovecraft has had a rather significant influence on modern horror. The late 20th century writer is best known for his mastery of "cosmic horror," a sort of otherworldly and existential dread that injects deep, indescribable fear into your veins. Cosmic horror is hard to pin down, but something like 2018's Annihilation or even 1982's The Thing are great examples. Terrors that are almost incomprehensible in nature. Obviously, with such complex mechanisms at work in Lovecraft's writing, it should come as no surprise that his stories can be, in many cases, impossible to adapt. But that hasn't stopped people from trying!
Some of the most notable Lovecraftian adaptations include The Haunted Palace (1963), Re-Animator (1985), and Necronomicon (1994). More notable still are films that take great inspiration from his work. For instance, many believe that the monster from Cloverfield is based on one of Lovecraft's most iconic monsters, the Cthulhu. (In fact, many of the Cloverfield films feel pretty Lovecraftian in general!) Now, we have another new project entering the canon, and it's based on one of Lovecraft's more popular stories, called "The Colour Out of Space." Here's all the information we've scraped together on the project.
The Story
"The Colour Out of Space" is a short story written by Lovecraft in 1927. The story follows a family who moves to Massachusetts. Shortly thereafter, a meteorite of sorts crashes on their land, but it's not any ordinary rock. It begins to "infect" the town; the food that grows is inedible, animals and livestock unravel, and locals either go insane or die. We watch as the family, from the patriarch to the children, slowly crumbles to dust.
As it turns out, there have been quite a few attempts at an onscreen adaptation for this particular story. In 1965, Die, Monster, Die! attempted to capture the horror of this "blasted heath" but didn't ultimately succeed. The Curse (1987) seemed to have stayed more loyal to the film but didn't quite nail Lovecraft's unique brand of terror. Colour from the Dark was a 2008 film inspired by the story but set in Italy; it was hailed as a pretty good shot at the story. And now we have the new one! Perhaps it'll be the best attempt yet?
The Cast and Crew
The film will star the one and only Nicolas Cage and will costar Joely Richardson, Tommy Chong, Elliot Knight, Julian Hilliard, and Q'Orianka Kilcher. The cast will team up with the producers from Cage's last major romp, Mandy, and Richard Stanley will take the helm as director.
The Release
Production is set to begin on the film next month, which means it could feasibly be finished by the end of the year! We're potentially looking at a bone-chilling January unleash, y'all.

Steven Spielberg's West Side Story Remake Has Officially Cast Its Star-Crossed Lovers
West Side Story has found its star-crossed lovers. Last year, it was announced that Ansel Elgort had been cast to portray Tony in Steven Spielberg's forthcoming adaptation of the classic musical. Now, Deadline has revealed Maria will be portrayed by Rachel Zegler. The 17-year-old Colombian-American high school student was one of 30,000 hopefuls who participated in an online casting call, and her evidently stellar covers of "Tonight" and "I Feel Pretty" earned her the role.
Though Natalie Wood is famous for her impassioned portrayal of Maria in the original screen adaptation, the casting choice has since been met with criticism given that Wood was not Puerto Rican. In a statement shared with Variety, Zegler said she is "humbled by the opportunity to play a role that means so much to the Hispanic community."
If you haven't seen any iteration of the story on stage or the big screen, teenagers Tony and Maria are the protagonists of the tragic love story modeled after Romeo and Juliet. Tony is a former member of the American gang the Jets, which rivals the Puerto Rican gang the Sharks. Maria's older brother Bernardo is the leader of the Sharks, and thus enters the story's central dilemma. Tony was first portrayed by Larry Kert in the original 1957 musical and later by Richard Beymer in the 1961 film.
The cast is gradually coming together with three Broadway actors also confirmed. David Alvarez will play Bernardo, Josh Andrés Rivera will play Maria's fiancé, Chino, and Ariana DeBose will step into the iconic role of Anita, previously portrayed by Rita Moreno. Oh, and speaking of the venerated actress, she'll be involved in the remake, too. Moreno will appear as Valentina, who is a "reconceived and expanded version of the character of Doc, the owner of the corner store in which Tony works." Moreno is also listed as an executive producer on the film.
Get Stoked: Ryan Reynolds Casually Revealed That Work Has Begun on Deadpool 3
It's no secret that Deadpool has marked a rather explosive new franchise for both Ryan Reynolds and 20th Century Fox. Both the first film and its 2018 follow-up raked in epic ticket sales, thrilled audiences, and gave diehard fans the raunchy R-rated antihero they were so desperately craving. With such incredible success, you'd think a third Deadpool film was a no-brainer, but it turns out the situation isn't so cut and dried. Luckily for us, a new and very tiny tidbit from Reynolds himself is giving us a sliver of hope to hang onto.
As a refresher, Reynolds previously revealed that he wasn't sure about a third movie. "I don't know that there would be a Deadpool 3. I really don't. I feel like the character, in order for him to function properly within his own universe, you need to take everything away from him. I don't think that you can keep doing that," Reynolds admitted during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. At that time, Reynolds hinted that the hero could potentially pop up in an "X-Force" focused movie, which would basically be an Avengers kind of deal that is instead set in the X-Men world with X-Men characters. But, you know, same concept: big multihero team-up focused on one truly dastardly bad guy. Just this week, though, Reynolds offered an update to a different tune.
In January, 20th Century Fox suddenly announced that Deadpool 2 would be released in China. Previously, the film did not meet the country's strict regulations for film censorship, nor did the original Deadpool. However, it turns out the PG-13 cut of the film, called Once Upon a Deadpool, made it through, thus paving the way for a Deadpool China release. To celebrate the occasion, Reynolds apparently blew off an arm surgery and flew to China.
Here's where it gets juicy: during his visit, Reynolds revealed that he and his team had, in fact, begun work on Deadpool 3! Reynolds reportedly said they are "looking to go in a completely different direction." He also added that "often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late." Sounds like he found a way to work through that whole "not taking everything away from him every time" conundrum, and we could be meeting a very different kind of Deadpool in round three.
By the sound of it, the team may be in preproduction stages for a third movie, meaning they could feasibly break ground and get to work sometime this year. And with that in mind, we could be getting the movie as soon as 2020! Keep your fingers crossed, folks. Deadpool shan't be out of our lives for too long.
