Woman Goes Viral For Swaddling Herself For a "336 Month" Birthday Photo Shoot

Throughout my baby's first year, I religiously staged those popular monthly blanket photo shoots - you know, the ones in which I plop my 2-month-old on a well-ironed sheet next to a letter board and some scattered seasonal flowers before posting to Instagram? Well, when she hit the 12-month mark, I took my final snap and retired the blanket to a memento box in my closet.

Little did I know, I should be doing these indefinitely. At least, that's what Nicole Ham would have me believe. The 28-year-old has recently gone viral thanks to an adult version of the tradition - a photo shoot complete with a full-size swaddle and a sign announcing that she's officially 336 months old.

"Her mom and I attempted to swaddle her with the blanket, and I proceeded to hang over the top ledge of a ladder to attempt to get the shot."

Woman Goes Viral For Swaddling Herself For a "336 Month" Birthday Photo Shoot
The photos were captured by Nicole's childhood friend and professional photographer Stephanie Smith, who owns Southern Stitched Photography in South Carolina. The two came up with the idea after Nicole talked about wanting to do an "epic" birthday post.

"Being 28 and single is a different world, especially when you grow up in a small town - one day you wake up and your news feed is flooded with nothing but engagements, pregnancy announcements, and baby birthdays," Stephanie told POPSUGAR. "Nicole told me of her idea to re-create the common 'baby milestone' photos, and I was sold."

A trip to Michaels and $150 later, the two got to work. "Her mom and I attempted to swaddle her with the blanket, and I proceeded to hang over the top ledge of a ladder to attempt to get the shot," Stephanie said.

The images, which she posted to Facebook, weren't just epic. They went viral, amassing 42,000 shares.

"These photos were nowhere near my best work - the lighting was not ideal, the angles were weird, and neither of us could keep a straight face," Stephanie admitted of the surprise exposure. "But seeing how much others have enjoyed our humor has kept us laughing since. We've always thought we were pretty funny - or hopelessly basic. We knew the photo shoot was silly, but that was the whole point!"

Silly or not, you only turn 336 months once!

Girl Who Went Viral After Getting a Taco Bell Gift Card For Christmas Gets a Taco-rific Birthday Party

For Christmas, all Natalie Grove asked for was a Taco Bell gift card - and Santa delivered. In a video that went viral in the days after Christmas, Natalie can be seen sitting in front of the tree opening her gift, and once she realizes what it is, her scream of "TACO BELL GIFT CARD" could for sure have been heard by Santa all the way up in the North Pole. In the weeks since she earned viral fame, Taco Bell has made Natalie's dreams come true even further by throwing her a fire (sauce) fifth birthday party in her local T-Bell restaurant.

The restaurant provided decorations for the party, including hot sauce packet balloons, photo props, and a giant taco hat for Natalie, and there was even a birthday cake with the famous bell logo on it. "Natalie had a wonderful birthday party at Taco Bell this past weekend," her mom, Sarah, told POPSUGAR. "She was so surprised . . . and we are so thankful to [Taco Bell]. Since the party, she tells everyone she knows about it and asks nightly when the next trip to Taco Bell will be!"

At her party - midway through enjoying a few tacos - Natalie was asked what she wants to be when she grows up, to which she replied, "A Taco Bell person."

Don't we all, Natalie. Don't. We. All.

Fans of power couple Chip and Joanna Gaines waited what felt like forever for their fifth child, who we knew was a baby boy, to be born. It's safe to say that the baby already has as many, if not more, fans than his mom and dad, so it's lucky for all of us that Joanna has been sharing photos of her "cuddle bug" pretty regularly since he arrived.

After 1 Hungover School Run, Anne Hathaway Decided to Give Up Drinking For 18 Years

All it can take is one bad drinking experience for someone to swear off alcohol, but for Anne Hathaway, it involved Matthew McConaughey and a few terrible hangovers. On Tuesday, the Serenity actress sat down with Ellen DeGeneres, where she discussed her upcoming movie and how it ultimately led to the decision to give up alcohol for the next 18 years. While Anne couldn't exactly remember a night out in Mauritius with Matthew and his wife, Camila Alves, she remembered a very hungover meeting with their director the next day, which she detailed in the video.

Following that experience and some other rough mornings, Anne made the official decision to quit drinking for 18 years this past October. "I'm gonna stop drinking while my son's living in my house just because I don't totally love the way I do it and he's getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings," she said of her and husband Adam Shulman's 2-year-old son, Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman.

Waking up with a vicious hangover is a valid reason to want to stop drinking, but that combined with a young child and morning duties solidified Anne's decision. "I did one school run one day where I wasn't driving but I was hungover, and that was enough for me," she said. "I didn't love that." And for Ellen, that's "another reason I don't want kids." Check out the clip of Anne discussing her drinking experiences and more photos of her on The Ellen DeGeneres Show ahead. Would you give up drinking for your kids?

The Dating Mistakes to Avoid in 2019, According to Professional Matchmaker Patti Stanger

I've been called a dating expert a time or two, and as soon as someone gets categorized this way, it begs the question: if you're so good at dating, why are you still single? Because coaches don't play.

I wish it were that simple, because that'd be a great mic-drop answer. Really, it's because I'm not an expert; I just do the dating thing a lot and then write about it. I've made plenty of mistakes, including that time I scheduled back-to-back dates in one night and mixed up their names, so they both got very confusing text messages about timing and meetup locations. As one of my favorite writers, Matteson Perry, shared with me, "Though it's called 'casual dating,' to do it right, you have to be as organized and detail-oriented as an air-traffic controller. Regular communication, scheduling, and planning are key, especially if you're dating more than one person at a time."

Matteson is on the money, and his words got me thinking about the bigger, more classic mistakes that we all make when dating. As the new year kicks off and we resolve to fix our dating faux pas in 2019, we're going to need some words of wisdom from the queen of tough love herself. I sat down with the one and only "Millionaire Matchmaker," Patti Stanger, for some no-nonsense talk about what we're doing wrong and, more importantly, how to fix it in 2019.

Coolest Newlyweds EVER Skied Down the Slopes Right After Saying "I Do"

The bride knew she wanted to ski in her wedding gown, so when Dan popped the question, they immediately began looking for the perfect ski resort to host their alpine wedding. They decided on Mayrhofen in Austria, which allowed them to have a mountaintop ceremony and ski down the slope straight from their venue. These two definitely take the coolest couple award.

The 5 Best Shampoos For Scalp Psoriasis, According to a Dermatologist

For some people, buying shampoo isn't always a super involved process. For others, it's a little more complicated, especially if you have scalp psoriasis.

Scalp psoriasis is a common skin condition in which red, itchy patches and scales form on the area due to a buildup of skin cells. Irritation is a common side effect, which is why those suffering from the condition often have to look out for specific types of shampoos and treatments to use as a way to combat it. That includes using formulas with medicated ingredients or products that include coal tar, an active that helps slow down the production of excess skin cells.

We asked a certified dermatologist Joshua Zeichner, MD, which shampoos are among the best for treating scalp psoriasis - read ahead to find a few of his picks (and some of our favorites, too).

This Brand Customized My Shampoo Based on My Workouts, and I’ve Never Felt So Seen

Attention to detail is everything. It's at the core of Prose's Custom Hair Care ($53) system, and the reason why I have silky soft, bouncy, mermaid waves right now.

It starts with a very extensive survey on the brand's website. The very first question is, "What is the texture of your natural hair when you let it air dry?" and the answer choices go beyond fine, medium, or coarse. It has graphics - a set of five images that illustrate different waves and curl types. The questionnaire also doesn't just take into account your hairstyling habits, but everything that makes up your lifestyle. It asks you about your diet (with a choice to select "unrestricted"), what kind of exercises you like to do (I selected "outdoor workouts"), and your zip code (which the brand uses to figure out what "environmental aggressors" might affect your hair).

When actually getting into the nitty-gritty of customizing my hair care, I was able to pick whether or not my products had gluten in it, along with my preferences on it being vegan and having silicone. Plus, I was able to choose my fragrance, Elixir - a blend of floral notes and vanilla.

When the box finally arrived, my shampoo and conditioner were labeled with some of the specifications I'd made on my survey, like my love for exercise (the words "Fitness-Lover" were written on it) and my zip code. I tested the shampoo and conditioner that evening and was delighted that the Elixir fragrance didn't smell like flowers, but instead, exactly like the mineral sunscreen I'd used as a kid. I was surprised to feel how lightweight the formulas were, as my medium-coarse curls usually require more emollient formulas. The shampoo exploded into an airy lather and slipped out of my hair when I rinsed. The conditioner slid down each of my strands with ease.

When I hopped out of the shower, I let my hair air dry and the results were astonishing. It was incredibly soft and smooth, the way it would feel after a salon-mixed conditioning treatment. My waves had a bounce to them that they typically don't, and it was so shiny.

The entire system will run you $53, and while that may be more than you would normally spend on your hair, as Jennifer Lopez once said: love don't cost a thing.

NYC's Top Tattoo Artist Reveals the Ink Everyone Will Be Getting in 2019

Bold, larger-than-life tattoos have always had a place for the David Beckhams, Justin Biebers, and Hells Angels members of the world, but the biggest trend in body art these last few years has been exponentially smaller and more delicate. Now, the artist that gave "tiny tattoos" its mass appeal says ink in 2019 will bridge the gap between old and new, meeting somewhere in the middle of the size spectrum.

"Fine-line work has been popular for many years, and recently artists have become more willing to do it and move out of the comfort zone of large, pulled line work," said tattooist Keith "Bang Bang" McCurdy, who's worked with everyone from Rihanna to Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin. "As these tattoos become common, it will become more trendy to get larger, more intricate works. As tattoos become more acceptable, people will be less apprehensive to tattoo more of their body."

Ready for some inspiration? Ahead, the raddest takes on the modern fine-line tattoo.

I Gave Up Dairy Completely and Had Instant Regrets

Like many people, I have some issues when it comes to dairy. After eating anything with a moderate to high amount of dairy in it, I tend to become bloated and miserable. Sometimes my jeans don't even fit. So I decided to do something I never thought I would do . . . give up dairy for a week! You see, I love creamer in my coffee, I pride myself on my baking abilities, and every Tuesday my dad and I have root beer floats together. But I did it, and here's my experience of living without dairy for seven days.

In the Beginning

When I started this week-long dairy-free journey, I was a bit of a nervous wreck. What if my friends wanted to go out for pizza? (Serious FOMO.) What would I put in my coffee? (I don't like it black.) What about baking? Are there even any decent dairy alternatives for baking? And how do I tell my dad I'm skipping root-beet-float night? Luckily, things started to resolve and my nerves calmed a bit.

First off, the coffee situation was solved pretty quickly, thanks to my best friend. She offered me some Nutpods plant-based coffee creamer that can be used in just about anything you'd put cream in: coffee, tea, or cooking. The "creamer" also comes in really great flavors, like Hazelnut and French Vanilla, if you want to make your morning cup feel special. While the creamer is unsweetened, it tastes so good that I didn't really need any sugar in my coffee. A double win, for sure!

As for baking, instead of making things with milk or butter like cakes and cookies, I was able to try my hand at using shortening as the fat in my baked goods. I ended up not exactly loving what I made but considered it a work-in-progress since I was experimenting with ingredients I hadn't used before. When weekly root-beer-float night came along, my dad and I were both so full from dinner that no one wanted dessert, so I dodged a major bullet there!

Middle of the Week

In the middle of the week, I started to notice some things were getting easier; I was actually enjoying the taste of my coffee and learning not to freak out when someone offered me cheese. I also noticed that my bloating had started to ease a bit, and my jeans zipped up easier since eliminating dairy from my diet.

One thing I didn't like, though: my face started to break out in some areas. While this might not be directly related to giving up dairy, that was the only thing in my lifestyle I'd changed recently. Obviously, having some spots on my face wasn't ideal, but sometimes it happens, so it's not a total deal-breaker. But what happened at the end of the week was!

End of the Week

The end of my week without dairy was right around Father's Day, and my dad really wanted a cake. Since I'm the baker in my family, I said I would make it. Most cakes contain some kind of dairy, so I knew I was either going to have to make a dairy-free cake and hope my dad didn't notice or make a cake but not eat it - neither option seemed all that great. I decided to do the latter; my dad is my personal hero, and he deserves the best cake I can make. As much as I wanted to give up this week-without-dairy thing and eat a piece of this cake I made, I held strong for the last two days.

Will I Keep Going?

If I'm being honest with you here, no. I like cheese and cake too much to go without dairy forever. In the process, though, I did find some great dairy alternatives for both coffee and baking - hopefully using these in my life will help calm my bloating issues. But I won't be missing another root-beer-float night with my dad. Those moments are just too special to leave behind forever.

Kendall Coyne Made History As the First Woman to Compete in the NHL All-Stars Contest

Kendall Coyne made history on Jan. 25 as the first woman to compete in the NHL All-Star skill competition. The 26-year-old Olympic gold medalist subbed in for Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon during the fastest skater event on Friday, and blew us all away with her incredible speed.

The Colorado Avalanche team tweeted at Kendall the day of the skills competition and asked if she could replace Nathan while he was in San Jose. "It would be my honor! I'll get to the rink as fast as I can!" she responded.

Kendall completed the event in 14.346 seconds, which put her in seventh place. Fellow athletes, sports commentators, and fans were overjoyed with her inspiring performance. "My first impression was, 'I can do this'. Speed is my strength," Kendall said after the competition. "I was a little nervous, but I knew it was a moment that was going to break a lot of barriers & would change the perception and show support to our game."

These 3 Habits Can Kick-Start Your Weight Loss Without Your Feeling Stressed or Deprived

The idea of losing weight can feel intimidating and even discouraging, especially if you've tried to do so unsuccessfully before. But getting started will be much less stressful when you manage your expectations and make simple changes, rather than diving into crash diets or punishing workouts.

Becky Kerkenbush, MS, RD, a registered dietitian in Watertown, WI, suggests setting a realistic weight-loss goal of one-half to two pounds per week, and adding a separate goal to the mix to help keep your spirits up when the scale doesn't reflect the work you've put in. "Examples include working to run a mile without stopping or becoming more flexible by starting yoga," Becky told POPSUGAR.

Eric Bowling, an NASM-certified personal trainer at Ultimate Performance in Los Angeles, added that you should also pinpoint your why for any goals you set. "Mindset is everything, and understanding why you want to make any change in the first place is key," Eric said.

"If you just want to lose 10 pounds because you dislike the number you see on the scale, you probably won't stick to your plan for long," he explained. "If you dig deeper and find that losing 10 pounds will make you more confident, a better spouse, more energetic, or able to do athletic events again, you will start to grow the driving factor behind what makes you take action." Once you know what you're working toward, these simple steps can help put you on the path to get there.

Eat a Balanced Diet

Consuming too few calories can leave you feeling deprived, lethargic, and unhappy - none of which is a recipe for success. "Starving yourself can also result in a slowed metabolism, making weight loss more difficult," Becky said. "It's best not to go longer than four to five hours without something to eat, be it a meal or a snack."

This includes starting your day with a healthy breakfast, which when eaten within an hour of waking can jump-start your metabolism, Becky explained. "Selecting a balanced breakfast that includes healthy fat, sufficient protein, and whole grains will provide energy and a feeling of satiety, which may prevent overeating later on," she said.

At every meal, "build your diet around nutrient-dense, single-ingredient whole foods like lean meat, fibrous vegetables, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates," Eric added. "Prioritize protein, which helps preserves muscle mass for anyone aiming to improve their body shape rather than just simply losing weight. Women should aim to eat between 20 and 30 grams of protein per meal."

Becky stressed the importance of not cutting out entire categories of foods, which may result in nutrient deficiencies. "Diets that omit whole food groups rarely result in long-term outcomes," she said.

Get Moving

It'll take more than just a quick session in the gym to lose weight. "Progress will be slow if you're relying solely on training for an hour, while remaining sedentary for the other 23 hours in a day," Eric said. He recommends logging 10,000 steps a day, which you can do by walking instead of driving or taking public transit, using the stairs instead of an elevator, or taking work calls on foot instead of at your desk. "This will help to increase the calories you burn throughout the day," Eric said.

Strength training is also essential. "Lifting weights helps to build muscle, lose fat, and increase your metabolic rate," Eric told POPSUGAR, and that's with as little as three sessions a week. "However, when starting out, it's important for you to seek out a professional who can oversee your form and technique, and make sure you are getting the most out of every exercise so you stay injury-free and get the best results possible."

Practice Self-Care

In this case, that means creating a soothing, device-free bedtime routine, which can help you clock the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep. "Getting enough quality sleep is important for recovery from training and maintaining a healthy hormone balance," Eric said. "When you're not sleeping enough or not sleeping well, it can result in lower energy, mental fog, fatigue, and hunger cravings, which will make your weight loss efforts harder."

Stress can cause the body to store more fat and interfere with your sleep, so find ways to unwind regularly, like taking a warm bath or practicing meditation.

If You Want to Load Up on Protein in the Morning, This is What You Need to Know About Oatmeal

Dietitians and fitness trainers encourage their clients to eat a balanced diet, complete with all three macros (protein, carbs, and fat). But getting enough daily protein seems to be a hot topic. As far as breakfast goes, registered dietitian Leslie Langevin, MS, RD, CD, of Whole Health Nutrition recommends getting 13 to 20 grams of protein for that first meal. If you love to dive into a bowl of oatmeal in the morning, check out how much protein that hearty bowl offers you.

As you can see from the chart below, it depends on which oats you choose. Quick oats offer the least amount of protein per serving, and also the least amount of fiber, so those get the breakfast veto. Both steel-cut oats and rolled oats offer seven grams each of protein, which definitely doesn't meet Leslie's recommendations.

Steel-cut oats Old-fashioned (rolled) oats Quick oats
Description Also called Irish or Scotch oats, these are cut, not rolled. They look like chopped-up rice, take the longest to cook, and have a slightly chewy consistency. Sometimes called rolled oats, these look like flat little ovals. When processing these oats, the kernels are steamed first, and then rolled to flatten them. They take longer to cook than quick oats but are quicker than steel-cut oats. Also called instant oats, these oats are precooked, dried, and then rolled. They cook in a few minutes when added to hot water and have a mushy texture.
Typical Serving Size 1/4 cup dry 1/2 cup dry 1/2 cup dry
Calories 170 190 150
Total Fat 3 g 3.5 g 3 g
Carbs 29 g 32 g 27 g
Fiber 5 g 5 g 4 g
Protein 7 g 7 g 5 g

In order to increase the amount of protein in your bowl, scroll through to see some ingredients you can add, such as nut butter or protein powder. They'll up the protein, but they'll also add fiber, and healthy fats, and offer a pleasing texture, making your bowl even more satisfying. Choose a few of these ingredients and you'll be on your way to the 13 to 20 grams of protein you need.

A Complete List of Foods You Should Pick Up For Success on WW

Grocery shopping while you're on WW is pretty much exactly like grocery shopping on any other diet - or just grocery shopping in general. There are no hard-and-fast rules about cutting your favorite foods out of your eating plan. It's just a matter of figuring out your SmartPoints and budgeting it all into your day properly. However, it should be pretty obvious that the more lower-in-points foods you eat, the more you can eat overall.

I put together a grocery list of my favorite staples I like to always grab when I'm shopping, and it's mostly full of 0-point foods with a few little extras here and there. (Yes, bread is included!) Keep reading to get some ideas of what you should stock up on the next time you hit the grocery store.

Halle Berry's Trainer Says This Is How Much Cardio You Should Do a Week to Lose Weight

"How much cardio do I need to lose weight," is one of the most common questions asked when it comes to working out and achieving your weight-loss goals. During Halle Berry's most recent "Fitness Friday" series on Instagram, Halle and her trainer, Peter Lee Thomas, answered questions from her followers, and this was the first question they got asked.

"I think it's good to start off with anywhere between two to three times a week with cardio," Peter said. If this sounds like too much for you to begin with, Peter suggested scaling back to one day a week and gradually working your way up to two to three days of cardio each week. "I think that's quite sufficient if you're doing it right," he added.

If you're wondering what to do during the other days of the week, Peter suggested strength training (here's a four-week beginner plan to get you started) and to do active recovery like hiking. "Start playing around with those numbers and see if it works for you. And always, always know that you can modify it and adjust based on your needs and your fitness level," he said.

If You've Been Eating Eggs For the Protein, Here's What You Need to Know

Eggs are one of nature's best gifts to us: not only are they delicious, but they're also cheap, versatile, and a healthy option for breakfast and beyond. Most people turn to eggs as a good source of protein and with some sautéed veggies and maybe a side of whole-wheat toast - a hearty breakfast that will keep you satisfied until lunchtime.

And while people are becoming more comfortable with eating more fat as diets such as Whole30 and keto have grown in popularity, there is still some controversy over whether or not you should eat the yolk in an egg. Sure, egg whites have less fat and cholesterol, but alone they offer less protein and fewer essential vitamins (A, D, and folate).

But are eggs as protein-packed as we've always been told? Yes, but there's one caveat: you might want to eat more than one egg.

How Much Protein Is in an Egg?

One large egg has six grams of protein, and one jumbo egg has nearly eight grams of the macronutrient, according to the USDA food database. Compare that with egg whites, which have a little less than four grams of protein per egg white. The yolk itself has a little more than two grams of protein per yolk.

Protein is an essential macronutrient to help you lose weight and build muscle. But to make sure you get enough in a day, you have to load up at each meal. Registered dietitian and ACSM-certified personal trainer Jim White, owner of Jim White Fitness and Nutrition Studios, told POPSUGAR that people should aim for 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight. So if you weigh 150 pounds (68 kilograms), you should eat between 68 and 82 grams of protein a day. That comes out to a little more than 20 grams at each meal, plus some protein-packed snacks in between.

If you're relying on eggs as your main source of protein for a meal, you'll have to eat two or three whole eggs to bump up that protein content to 12 to 18 grams. If you're just eating the whites, you would have to eat even more: three to four egg whites to get 12 to 16 grams of protein. To make your breakfast even more protein-packed, try eating it with quinoa (four grams per half-cup), black beans (four grams per one-fourth cup), or cheese (two tablespoons of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese has four grams of protein).
