To My Secret Admirer: All I Want For Valentine's Day Is Olive Garden's Breadstick Bouquet

I'm no Oprah Winfrey, but I do f*cking love bread. So much so that I would take a bouquet of breadsticks over a bouquet of flowers any day, and lucky for me, Olive Garden is making that possible. The beloved Italian food chain is encouraging customers to ditch the roses this Valentine's Day in favor of something a little more creative - and a lot more savory - with the introduction of breadstick bouquets for your loved ones.

Breadstick bouquets aren't an actual menu item, but to create one, just order breadsticks to-go from the nearest Olive Garden location before wrapping them up in special bouquet paper that you can print out on your own. Each piece of wrapping paper features one of six sweet messages for your loved one printed on it, from "My love for you is never ending," an obvious nod to those Never Ending Pasta options, to "We belong together like spaghetti and meatballs."

Customers hoping to turn this romantic offering into a full meal also have the option of ordering a special Valentine's Day To-Go Dinner For Two, which includes breadsticks, soup or salad, dipping sauce (choice of Five Cheese Marinara or Alfredo), one shareable entrée (Five Cheese Ziti al Forno or Chicken Alfredo), and one shareable dessert (Black Tie Mousse Cake or Tiramisu). The deal starts at $36 and is available until Feb. 14. While you're taking all of that in, take a look at Olive Garden's special bouquet wrapping papers ahead, and download full-size versions of them here.

These Kitchen Before and Afters Are So Good, You'll Do a Double Take

Whether you order in, dine out, or stick to the snacks, the kitchen is an important, functional spot in our homes. The meal-prep space holds valuable tools and appliances that don't exist in any other room, and most importantly, it's where the food is stored. But if your kitchen is - for a lack of a better term - a total dump, then time spent cooking, meal prepping, and eating can (literally) leave you with a bad taste.

If you have been craving a remodel, want to make some small upgrades, or simply enjoy a good before and after, then our friends at Sweeten (a free service that connects renovators and contractors) have hooked us up with some sweet kitchen rebuild photos to inspire you. Fair warning: if you're not planning to redesign your kitchen, then turn away now - these before and afters might change your mind.

Costco Sells Heart-Shaped Macarons For Valentine's Day, and We'll Take 20 Boxes, Please

Valentine's Day used to be pretty simple. Candy hearts, flowers, and a romantic dinner for two, right? Well, while that's still fine and dandy, we're pretty partial to the holiday's more recent trends, such as Oreo bouquets, cherry-flavored mochas, heart-shaped ravioli, and, yes, heart-shaped macarons.

Costco is offering what may be one of the greatest Valentine's Day deals ever: a box of 25 macarons by Le Chic Patissier for only $12. These heart-shaped treats come in two different flavors, strawberry-vanilla and raspberry, and look as good as they taste. With big-name baking companies such as Ladurée and Baked by Melissa selling the same amount of these delicacies for upward of $65, the Costco alternative is a total steal (not to mention totally adorable!). These macarons are perfect because they're a great Valentine's Day gift, for either a crush or office colleagues, that will not break the bank.

However, there may be a catch. Apparently, these gems may only be available for a limited time at Costco stores in Los Angeles and the Bay Area in California, so be sure to call your local store for price and availability before heading out.

I Canceled My Weekend Plans to Focus on Self-Care, and I Learned So Much

I've struggled with weekend anxiety my entire adult life. The feeling that I should be out doing something: networking, attending industry events, or merely dressing up and hitting the town with my girlfriends because I'm young and that's what you do when you're young. Besides, if I'm not out taking advantage of everything New York City has to offer, why am I spending half of my annual income on an apartment the size of my parents' bedroom?

It's so much more than the FOMO effect (which is still present). I actually feel anxious and guilty if I turn down invitations when I don't have any other plans in the books. The problem with this fear of saying no is it completely wears me out. The holiday season is always an anxiety-ridden time for me (holiday parties, family commitments, constantly attempting to be available for everything so I don't let anyone down), and I went into January with a completely packed schedule. I was quickly approaching burnout mode when my fiancé suggested (lovingly but sternly) that I take the weekend to do nothing.

Nothing? It was a foreign concept. But he was going out of town for business, and I would have the apartment to myself. So, I decided to cancel all my weekend plans and focus on self-care. Because frankly, I was exhausted.

Step one: put down my damn phone. I vowed to stay off social media for 48 hours and only pick up my phone with intent, like sending a quick text to my partner or mom.

Hanging out by myself every once in a while is rejuvenating. It was freeing to not be on a schedule.

Step two: slow down, breathe, and relax. As one of those millennials who feels like they have 17 million different jobs and projects in the air at all times, I'm constantly reading advice books and columns about how to be more productive, make more money, or become more skilled. This weekend? I read a fiction novel - one that made no mention of Roth IRAs, Instagram growth tips, or how your personality type influences your professional success. It had been sitting on my bedside table, unopened, for about six months.

My weekend breakfast routine typically consists of an egg-white wrap on the go, but this particular morning, I decided to whip out the frying pan and try my hand at breakfast for one. And, no offense to my local deli, but I discovered that I make a mean egg-and-turkey panini. Later I took a yoga class, followed by a long, leisurely walk around my neighborhood (sans phone). I stopped in my local coffee shop, aforementioned novel in tow, and read for almost two hours over a chicory cold brew. That night, I opened my laptop for the first time all weekend to write - not because I was on a deadline, but because I was feeling inspired.

Sunday consisted of another delicious breakfast panini, a crossword puzzle, and a whole lot of R&R. All weekend, I ignored any texts asking where I was or what I was doing. The responses could wait until Monday. It was a glorious two days.

Going into the weekend, I feared that not only would I feel guilty or that I was missing out, but that I would get bored spending 48 hours with me, myself, and I. To my surprise, I was completely misguided. It felt good. In a city like the Big Apple, when minutes disappear in a matter of seconds and so many things are constantly going on around you, I discovered how important it is to slow down, check in with yourself, and take the time to focus on doing the little things that refill your well. I'm an extrovert, yes, but I realized that hanging out by myself every once in a while is rejuvenating. It was freeing to not be on a schedule. My to-do list consisted of one singular task: to relax. Come Monday, I felt rested and ready to take on the world again.

I think I'll do this more often.

This Is Exactly Who You Should Invite to a Bridal Shower

I'm the matron of honor in my sister's upcoming wedding, which means I'm responsible for planning her bridal shower. I've been a guest at many other showers, but never did I put too much thought into how potentially tricky the invite list can be. And since I began planning, friends have shared horror stories about offending people who either were or weren't invited to a bridal shower. For instance, a bride's mom included a bunch of guests who ultimately weren't invited to the wedding. That's a "no no," according to, well, common sense, but also rules of etiquette. In another bridal shower gone wrong tale, the groom's mom held a shower and forgot to invite the bride's mom. Oops.

Certain dos and don'ts of putting together a bridal shower invite list are black and white, but there are some gray areas, too. Like, should you invite out-of-town friends and family? If you know they won't be able to make the trip, due to either budget constraints or work or family commitments, they may end up feeling pressured to send a gift. While there are no hard and fast rules here, what I've found is that simply asking my aunt or a friend of my sister's who lives across the country if they think they could make it is the best way to avoid hurting anyone's feelings or bank accounts.

Here are the people you should be sure to invite to a bridal shower:

  1. Close family members of the bride. This one is pretty obvious. Invite the mother of the bride, sisters, aunts, and female cousins, as long as they live fairly close. Otherwise, as suggested above, you may just want to confirm they are up for making the trip.
  2. The mother-in-law. Invite the mother of the bride's partner, whether the bride loves her or, um, doesn't.
  3. Close family members on the bride's partner's side. Their partner's sisters, aunts, and female cousins should be on your invite list.
  4. The mother of the bride's friends. If the mother of the bride has a few friends she wants to include, that's pretty standard. Plus, they'll probably be great gift givers!
  5. Close friends of the mother-in-law. If she wants to include certain people, definitely be open to that, too. Just make sure both her and the mother of the bride's lists aren't too out of control.
  6. The bridal party. This one's a given. Also, ask the bride if she wants any kids who are in her wedding party to attend, like a junior bridesmaid or flower girl. It should be up to her if the shower will include children.
  7. Friends and coworkers of the bride. When it comes to coworkers and friends who aren't super close to the bride, it's always best to check with her to see who she's comfortable with inviting.
  8. The bride's partner - maybe. Ask the bride if she wants her partner to attend the shower. Many brides like for their main squeeze to show up at the end of the shower for a kiss and introductions.
  9. Is it a coed shower? If the bride has any close friends of the opposite sex, ask if they should be included on the special day. Having a couple's shower is a big trend, too, so perhaps you want to go that route.

In the end, how many people you can afford to host for the shower may play a role as well in formulating the invite list. Just make sure you and the bride are on the same page.

LOL, Pet Owners Shared All the Ridiculous Nicknames They Give Their Pets

After a Twitter user shared the seven nicknames she has for her dog, Cooper - who she says is only called Cooper about seven percent of the time once all of his other names are factored in - it wasn't long before other pet owners started to chime in with their own pets' various nicknames. From a dog named Kenzo who answers to "Barktavia Spencer" to a cat named Bucket who answers to "Little Butler," we can't stop laughing at how crazy-accurate this all sounds to us as fellow pet owners.

See some of our favorite nicknames ahead (including a few we have for our own pets).

This Concealer Makes It Look Like I Never Had Dark Spots, and It's Only $5

E.l.f. Cosmetics 16 Hour Camo Concealer ($5) is at the center of a lot of hype. A quick Google search of the concealer will yield reviews that say the 18-shade concealer range, which goes for $5 per tube, has comparable results to its more expensive competitors. This is why I chose to put it up against my dark spots, splotchy red areas, and difficult-to-shade-match complexion. A crisp Lincoln can't be the answer to all of those challenges, right?

I pulled the jumbo wand from its tube and tapped it across those areas in hopes that my skin could look more even in tone. I moved quickly to buff it out and let the matte formula set. It left me with a completely even, matte complexion that felt as though I had no makeup on. Full disclosure: for my entire face, I had to mix three different shades, tan sand and deep olive (neutral shades that are close to my complexion and offset my already warm undertones) and tan sand (the lightest of the three shades to brighten up darker areas). However, $15 is still a steal, considering my go-to product is about $25.

See the magical concealer ahead.

Katy Perry Felt "Exposed" After Cutting Her Hair: "You Really Can't Hide Behind It"

It's been nearly two years since Katy Perry cut her hair into a supershort, superblond pixie, and she's sticking to it. In a new interview for Paper's Spring 2019 issue, the singer reflected on the effects of her dramatic haircut. "Changing my hair definitely was the biggest physical transformation I have experienced as a woman," she said. "When you don't have long hair, you really can't hide behind it. Everything is exposed."

This doesn't mark the first time Perry has been vulnerable about her haircut. During a live stream to promote her 2017 album, Witness, Perry spoke with a therapist about the reason behind her haircut and its significance in regard to her mental health. "I'm really strong as Katy Perry and then sometimes I'm not as strong as Katheryn Hudson," she said at the time. "People talk about my hair, right? They don't like it or they wish that it was longer. I so badly want to be Katheryn Hudson that I don't even want to look like Katy Perry anymore sometimes. That is a little bit of why I cut my hair, because I really want to be my authentic self."

In Paper, Perry explained that she's taking some time for herself and won't be working on new music for the year. She has, however, done a little remodeling, including the installation of a "glam room" - hair-washing station and all - in her home. Perry said the room has made her feel like she's "made it." See photos from her latest editorial ahead.

Benefit to Launch 2 Deeper Shades of Hoola and New Cheek Palettes This Month

Hoola bronzer has been heralded as one of the first bronzers to truly get it right: its matte finish and cool tone allows it to look like a natural tan instead of a glittery orange mess. The problem? It was one-size-fits-all but not actually catering to all skin tones in a flattering way. Benefit expanded the product to include a lighter shade for fair skin tones in 2017, and this month, at the request of fans, deeper skin tones will get theirs with Hoola Caramel and Hoola Toasted ($30 each).

"I've worked with Benefit for years and always begged them for deeper shades of their infamous Hoola bronzer, and my prayers have finally been answered! I hope these additional shades are just the beginning," said YouTuber and influencer Ellarie.

Hoola Caramel is described as best suited for medium-deep tones while Toasted is for deep tones. Both were created for a sun-kissed faux glow, much like Hoola and Hoola Lite. The shade extensions come after two years of shade testing. "As with original Hoola, we wanted to bring warmth to the skin without being orange, which a lot of bronzers are," said Julie Bell, Benefit's EVP of global product marketing and innovation. "We tested on medium-deep and deeper skin tones and a wide range of ethnicities to formulate these new shades to bring just the right amount of tan and warmth to the skin and look natural. They also stay true to the original key feature of Hoola in that they're matte."

Hoola Caramel will be included in one of two new cheek palettes: Cheekleaders Pink Squad and Cheekleaders Bronze Squad ($60 each). The palettes come with five full-size products including blush, bronzer, and one new palette-exclusive highlighter. Pink Squad is the rosier of the two and includes Galifornia, Coralista, and Dandelion blushes, the classic Hoola bronzer, and Tickle, a golden-pink highlighter, which will be available separately in September 2019. Bronze Squad includes Dallas and Gold Rush blush, the classic Hoola and new Hoola Caramel, plus a golden-pearl highlighter called Cookie, which will also be available individually in September.

You can also purchase mini versions of each Cheekleaders palette. Mini Pink Squad ($30) includes GALifornia, Dandelion ,and Tickle; Mini Bronze Squad ($30) includes Hoola, Gold Rush, and Cookie.

The palettes and Hoola bronzers launch Feb. 26, but keep reading for a first look at the new launches.

Everything You Need to Know About CBD and Hemp Seed Oil in Skin Care

The beauty industry is experiencing an all-time high, as the end of 2018 brought us a lengthy list of beauty products containing CBD oil and cannabis sativa seed oil (aka hemp oil). As the trend creeps into 2019, some of us are wondering exactly what the difference is between the two ingredients and if the products that have them swirled into their formulas actually benefit our skin in any way.

To help sort through the confusion, we've tapped founder of Lord Jones Cindy Capobianco, founder of Saint Jane Casey Georgeson, as well as dermatologist Dhaval Bhanusali, MD, to walk us through the haze that surrounds cannabis-derived ingredients in skin care.

We Absolutely Need to Talk About Ariana Grande's Mention of Fenty Beauty in "Make Up"

Do you hear that? That ethereal static is the sound of two fan bases colliding after Ariana Grande name-dropped Rihanna in a new song. To be specific, she name-dropped Rihanna's Fenty Beauty. On "Make Up" off her just-released Thank U, Next album, Grande sings about making up with someone, then messing up her . . . yeah, you get it. The lyric in question goes, "No eyeliner on, but looking at you is the fix / Highlight of my life, just like that Fenty Beauty kit."

"Highlight of my life, just like that Fenty Beauty kit."

The cosmetics brand noticed the nod immediately after the album was released and tweeted, "Y'all KNOW we felt that." Interestingly, Grande actually let the brand know what was coming back in January. After Fenty Beauty sent her some products, Grande posted a video of the goods on Instagram Stories and said, "Thank you so much, god." When the brand inevitably shared her video on Twitter, Grande replied, "Wait til u hear 'make up.'"

The lyric not only left fans spiraling, but it also brought up questions about a possible collaboration between the two. Grande and Rihanna have in the past interacted at award shows, but they've yet to work together. Perhaps "Make Up" will pique Rihanna's interest? Then again, after releasing two albums in less than a year, Grande might not be releasing more new music anytime soon.

Halsey's Hair Is Now "Gerard Way Red," and Twitter Had Something to Do With It

Each hair color Halsey has tried - teal, jet black, even pink - has managed to suit, no, look amazing on her. For her latest hair color change, the singer asked Twitter users to weigh in via a poll on what color to dye her hair: lilac, "Gerard Way red," and pink (again).

Though it didn't win the popular vote, she recently decided to go with the fiery red a la 2014 My Chemical Romance. See Halsey with her new color, ahead.

Magnum Just Released Dairy-Free Ice Cream Bars, and I'm Ready For That Crunchy Shell

Indulging in a delicious ice cream dessert is fun and all, until you realize that you forgot to take a Lactaid before the first bite . . . yikes. But thanks to Magnum, the ice cream brand's classic, chocolate-dipped frozen dessert bars got a non-dairy upgrade, and we our stomachs have never been happier. This week, the brand announced its dairy-free and vegan ice cream bars were coming to the US, and it's a dream come true for chocolate-lovers.

As Magnum's first-ever plant-based treats, we're happy to report that the two flavors, Non-Dairy Classic and Non-Dairy Almond, are delicious. (Seriously, the boxes nearly disappeared from the POPSUGAR kitchen about an hour after they arrived.) According to the press release, the creamy vanilla base is made with a combination of coconut oil and pea protein, and the bars are dipped in non-dairy Belgian chocolate. They're less than 250 calories each, but we promise not to judge if you accidentally eat the box of three.

This Year I'm Finally Conquering My Fear of the Treadmill, Thanks to These 14 Items

I've hated running for as long as I can remember. Mile day was the worst day in gym class, and I was always last in the 50-yard dash. As I got older, I discovered there were lots of ways I liked to be active - tennis, indoor cycling, and Pilates to name a few. Running just wasn't my thing. But my friends have become obsessed with Barry's Bootcamp, and unless I want to spend all my time on weights (spoiler alert: I do not), I've got to start learning how to run. I've been training myself for the last couple of weeks, and I have to tell you, I've gotten better! I couldn't believe it, and it would never have happened without these 14 products.

This Gymnast's Floor Routine to "Uptown Funk" Is So Impressive, You Won't Want to Blink

Sekai Wright FX Exhibition (2/2/19 at Oregon State)

Don't believe me, just watch 👀 Freshman Sekai Wright debuted her Bruno Mars floor routine today at Oregon State.

Posted by UCLA Gymnastics on Saturday, February 2, 2019

Collegiate gymnastics is in full effect, and we couldn't be more excited. A few weeks ago, Katelyn Ohashi amazed us with her skill and energy during her floor routine at a UCLA and Cal meet on Jan. 5. It didn't take us long to come across another exciting routine from one of Katelyn's teammates. UCLA freshman Sekai Wright impressed us with her exhibition floor routine to "Uptown Funk" from the Feb. 2 meet at Oregon State. Even if you aren't too familiar with gymnastics, one thing is for sure: she crushed this routine.

The "Uptown Funk" and "Me, Myself, and I" mix drew us in, and her insane airtime during the double back and the rest of her tumbling passes left us in awe. We can't wait to see what Sekai does next. Be sure to check out the full routine in the video above!

If You Hate Cardio, Experts Say Do These 9 Things to Lose Body Fat and Get Lean

If your goal is to lose body fat and get lean, but you'd rather go to the dentist for a root canal than do cardio at the gym, we have good news: you don't have to sweat for hours on the treadmill or bike to burn fat. Incorporate these nine expert-recommended strategies into your diet and workout routine and you'll not only spare yourself the agony of boring cardio, but you'll also get better results.

Here's How Many Minutes You'd Need to Walk Each Day to Lose Weight, According to a Trainer

Walking may seem too simple to be an effective form of exercise, but if you play your cards right, this familiar movement can be a lean, mean, weight-loss-generating machine. While a casual 10-minute stroll won't do it, you don't need to spend hours on your feet, either.

"You should aim for about three to five sessions of cardio a week that are around a half hour," Courtney Meadows, an NASM-certified personal trainer and fitness coach, told POPSUGAR. "For beginners, even walking 10 minutes a day is a great place to start. Increasing your walking time by just five minutes will get you there."

Courtney suggests walking at an easy pace for five minutes or more to warm up and get your body ready to burn fat.

"If you can, it's best to use a heart rate app when walking to make sure you're in the right zone for fat loss," Courtney explained. "After the warmup, you'll want to get your heart rate to 60 to 70 percent of your maximum heart rate," which you can find by subtracting your age from 220. "You'll want the majority of your workout to be in this stage with a five-minute cooldown," she said.

While finding a cardio regimen that gets results is important, Courtney noted that it should also be one you enjoy. When exercise becomes second nature, it's much easier to stay on track.

If Burpees Are Your Kryptonite, These Are the 3 Moves You Should Do Instead

There are two types of people in this world: those who love burpees and those who despise them. One person who truly cannot stand burpees, and is probably the president of the anti-burpee club, is celebrity trainer Ben Bruno. He dislikes them so much, he dedicated an entire Instagram post to explaining why he isn't a fan.

If this were an assignment for class, we're sure he'd get an A+ on it. In his "why I don't like burpees" post, Ben made the following points:

  1. They put "undue stress on the wrists, shoulders, knees, and lower back."
  2. They're an "Advanced exercise masquerading as a beginner exercise. Most people lack the requisite strength and mobility to do them properly at all, let alone for high reps, which is how they're programmed since the goal is metabolic conditioning."
  3. "High reps + poor form = Recipe for injury"
  4. "They're often used in group settings and bootcamps, but most people suck at them, making it a bad choice."
  5. "Strong athletes and advanced trainees with good mobility can probably get away with doing them, but have you ever seen a pro strength coach prescribe burpees? Me neither. Success leaves clues."

Instead of doing burpees, Ben recommends breaking the movement down "into its constituent parts." This means performing push-ups and squats (or squat jumps) separately in a circuit. He also recommends using any cardio machine such as the bike, SkiErg, elliptical, Versa Climber, rower, sleds, StairMaster, and doing sprints for metabolic conditioning work.

In conclusion, "literally anything else besides burpees." Check out how to do the alternatives ahead:

If You're Struggling to Find a Diet That Helps You Lose Weight, Follow This Simple 4-Part Plan

Should I eat keto? Paleo? Plant-based? High-protein? The truth is, what you eat isn't as important as how much. Fat-loss coach Carter Good (@cartergood on Instagram) explained in a recent Instagram post, "Any diet can and does work . . . If, and only if, it gets one thing right - it creates a calorie deficit."

You can't be in a calorie deficit for just one day or one week and expect to see life-changing results - you have to be in a calorie deficit consistently over a long period. "And the consistency part is on you," Carter said.

How you fuel your body shouldn't be complicated, so don't stress if you feel like you should be eating low-carb but you can't live without bread. The best diet for you is the one that you can follow with as little effort as possible, while still reaching your goals.

If you're struggling to find an eating plan that's sustainable, that gives you enough energy for life and for workouts, that allows you to sleep well, feel happy, and lose weight, Carter shared this simple four-part plan you can apply to your diet to help reach your goals:

  • Most of the time, avoid processed junk, refined sugars, and sugary drinks. "Once in a blue moon is fine, but never is better," Carter said.
  • One to two times a week should be the max for drinking alcohol or eating not-so-healthy foods at restaurants.
  • When you're on the go, bring along light, nutritious snacks, such as protein bars, fruit, and protein shakes to prevent reaching for junk food.
  • Every single day, your diet should be comprised of healthy, whole foods, such as fruits, veggies, lean protein, whole grains, healthy fats like avocado and nuts, and zero-calorie beverages.

"The goal of it all is to help you eat fewer calories by default and eat more nutritious foods that make you look and feel better," Carter said. He recommends trying this simple four-part plan for three to six months, and you'll be on your way to reaching your weight-loss goals.

These Flatbreads Are Low-Carb . . . and They're 1 Foot Long

You may have heard of low-carb wraps made of egg whites or even cheese (yes, cheese!). One company is making low-carb flatbreads that feature just six simple ingredients - filtered water, whole wheat and unbleached flour, psyllium husk, yeast, and salt - and each is 12 inches long. This alternative to sliced rye and bagels is called Cut Da Carb. One foot of flatbread? Yes, please.

Each Cut Da Carb flatbread has 80 calories and nine grams of net carbs (14 total carbohydrates minus five grams of dietary fiber per serving). Cut Da Carb is certified kosher and doesn't "taste like cardboard," according to the company's website. See the full nutrition facts here.

Keep these flatbreads refrigerated for 20-40 days or frozen for up to six months. The best part? They can be used for a variety of different meals like dessert nachos, cheesecake, and breakfast pizza (you'd be surprised how creative people are when it comes to using Cut Da Carb in the kitchen). You can buy these low-carb beauties online today; a pack of 12 costs $16. Read on for some Cut Da Carb recipe inspiration.
