Jennifer Lopez Responds to Motown Tribute Criticism: "You Can't Tell People What to Love"

Jennifer Lopez is defending herself against criticism of her Motown tribute at the 2019 Grammys. At the award show on Feb. 10, the singer performed a medley in honor of the record label's 60th anniversary, which included iconic songs like "Dancing in the Street," "Do You Love Me," and "My Girl." While Smokey Robinson, Ne-Yo, and Alicia Keys also joined Lopez on stage, Grammy producers faced criticism that a more fitting performer could have been chosen to lead the tribute given Motown's impact on black history and culture.

"Any type of music can inspire any type of artist."

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight following the show, Lopez said, "The thing about music is that it inspires all. Any type of music can inspire any type of artist." She added, "You can't tell people what to love. You can't tell people what they can and can't do, what they should sing or not sing. You gotta do what's in your heart."

Describing the performance as a "dream come true," Lopez also explained that she grew up listening to Motown releases with her mom. "It was for my mom. I could cry. It's such a good moment," she said. "Singing up there with Smokey Robinson, like, I gotta pinch myself. I grew up on all those songs, and because my mom loved him so much, she passed him on to us."

Though Lopez acknowledged the performance was met with some backlash, she said Motown founder Berry Gordy was "thrilled." The label's official Instagram account also shared a photo of the tribute with the caption, "A performance to remember." Lopez said, "They know how much I have been influenced by that music and so it was a natural fit for them. But for some people, [it wasn't], and that's okay. I'm just very humbled and honored to be able to have sung those songs."

As for Robinson, he seemed to be having none of the criticism. In an interview with Variety at a pre-Grammys gala on Feb. 9, the singer and former Motown vice president said, "I don't think anyone who is intelligent is upset. I think anyone who is upset is stupid." Robinson also argued that Lopez was a good fit given her background "growing up in her Hispanic neighborhood." He added, "Motown was music for everybody. Everybody."

We Bet You Had No Idea Just How Many Films Peter Dinklage Has on His Résumé

Incontestable fact: Peter Dinklage was born to play the role of Tyrion Lannister, the hard-drinking, fast-quipping brother of Cersei and Jaime Lannister and perhaps the only redeeming member of the Lannister family. In fact, we bet you have no idea how many titles are part of the actor's extensive filmography. From love interests to antagonists to straight-up villains, read on to see all of the film roles Dinklage has played over the years.

Get Ready to Go Mad! Disney World Has an Instagram-Worthy Cheshire Cat-Themed Slush

It looks like we can finally know what Wonderland tastes like - and we are more than ready to fall down the rabbit hole on this one. Meet one of the latest enviable Disney treats that's about to be all over your Instagram feed: the Wonderland Slush. Not only does the drink, which debuted in November, look delicious, but it's also so bright and beautiful!

Found in Magic Kingdom's Cheshire Café in Walt Disney World, the $6 drink is themed after - you guessed it - the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. It's a layered grape Fanta and pink raspberry lemonade slushy that's topped with a pink rock candy straw. The café is located in Fantasyland near the Mad Tea Cup ride, which is great news, since those make the perfect backdrop for a colorful photo. Though some Instagram users admit the slush packs quite the burst of sugar, others are calling it "amazingly good." Besides, Alice in Wonderland is famous for those "drink me" potions, so slurping one down only feels like the right thing to do.

Oreo Is Selling New Valentine's Day Cookies With the Cutest Messages on Them

Following the lead of Lava Cake Hershey's Kisses and Heart-Shaped Starburst Jellybeans, a new Oreo flavor is the latest addition to the list of cutesy Valentine's Day snacks. The new Oreos - called Love, Oreo - are made with classic chocolate cookies and a "sweet and tangy" berry-flavored creme filling, and each one comes with a cute message printed on both sides à la conversation hearts. The sayings include phrases like "Let's Twist," "Dunk in Love," and "Xoxo Oreo."

Love, Oreos are currently available at select retailers for around $3 a pack - but fair warning that they've received some pretty mixed reviews so far, with blogger Dad Bod Snacks comparing the flavor to that of cherry limeade. "Which I'm not a fan of, sadly," he wrote. Still, for anyone who's interested in stocking up on Valentine's Day snacks, the cookies are available at Target and Walmart.

Costco Is Selling Heart-Shaped Ravioli For Valentine's Day, and It's Stuffed With 4 Cheeses!

If you're anything like me, your heart and soul are happy every time you eat pasta, and you'd be especially happy to eat heart-shaped pasta. Well, carb club VIP members, we're in luck, because Costco is selling exactly that for Valentine's Day. An artisan pasta company named Nuovo Pasta makes heart-shaped ravioli filled with four Italian cheeses (ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, and aged asiago), and Costco has started carrying the adorable creation. Costco Buys on Instagram shared a snap of the ravioli, which comes in two 20-ounce packages for a total of $10.

The combination of regular dough and deep-red dough makes for a festive dinner on V-Day, and you can serve the pasta in a number of ways. Show off the fun color by simply tossing the cooked ravioli with olive oil or butter and parmesan cheese, or take the flavor up a notch with creamy vodka sauce or alfredo. Heart-Shaped Reese's Puffs Are on Shelves For Valentine's Day, So Pour Yourself a Bowl of Love

Heart-shaped versions of foods for Valentine's Day don't necessarily taste different, but they're just a little more fun to eat. Such is the case with new Reese's Puff Hearts, which are on shelves just in time for the February holiday. The adorable cereal features the same peanut-butter- and chocolate-flavored crunchy puffs you know and love, but they're in mini heart shapes.

Shoppers have already spotted the cereal at various grocery stores, and Junk Food Mom posted it on Instagram, writing, "It's probably just me but I taste a stronger peanut butter flavor in these. Maybe they were made with love as well." So who knows? Maybe these do have an extraspecial recipe. Either way, we know what we'll be having for breakfast on Valentine's Day to show ourselves a little bit of extra love!

Sparkling, Seltzer, Soda: A Primer on Carbonated Water

Soda water, seltzer, club soda, sparkling water, mineral water: there are so many different fizzy waters out there. Are they all the same thing?

Carbonated water - water into which carbon dioxide has been dissolved - is a broad term that encompasses all fizzy waters; it's used interchangeably with sparkling water and soda water (a prewar term for the same thing). Within this category, there are several distinctions: seltzer, club soda, and mineral water.

Seltzer and club soda have both been artificially produced by passing pressurized carbon dioxide through water, but while seltzer contains no added ingredients or flavorings, club soda contains additives such as table salt, sodium bicarbonate, or potassium bicarbonate to add a slightly salty flavor.

In contrast, an effervescent mineral water such as Perrier or San Pellegrino is water that contains naturally occurring carbonation and minerals. Since it's bottled directly from a natural source, it tends to be pricier and has a more delicate effervescence than other carbonated waters. For these reasons, it's typically enjoyed alone, rather than used as a drink mixer.

This Deleted Scene From The Bachelor Proves Colton Is REALLY Into Cassie

After giving Colton Underwood a butterfly keepsake on the first night of The Bachelor, Cassie Randolph is getting her own little gift. While there are still plenty of contestants left on the show, it's clear that Colton and Cassie's relationship is one of the strongest. If their smooch-filled one-on-one didn't prove it before, this deleted scene will definitely convince you that Colton is smitten. After a stressful week of petty girl drama and abrupt departures, Cassie and Colton got some alone time, and he brought her a gift!

"I wanted to give you a Vietnam keepsake," he said, giving her a shell from a walk on the beach, which reminded him of their time in Vietnam. But that's not even the cutest part - he kept one for himself too so they would have matching shells! Watch the heartfelt moment above, and see why all signs are pointing to Cassie getting a proposal at the end of the season.

Elle Fanning Becomes a Pop Superstar in the Electric Trailer For Teen Spirit

Elle Fanning might have made a name for herself as one of her generation's most talented actresses, but now the 20-year-old is giving singing a try. Well, at least in her newest film, Teen Spirit.

In the electric first trailer for the drama - which features Fanning belting out well-known hits from Robyn, Tegan and Sara, Carly Rae Jepsen, Annie Lennox, Ellie Goulding, and more - we see Fanning's Violet, an initially shy teenager, escape her small town by entering a local singing competition. Once she gets there, though, she realizes that her integrity and talent will be put to the test as she vys for stardom.

The film is written and directed by The Handmaid's Tale's Max Minghella, and also stars Rebecca Hall, Zlatko Buric, and Agnieszka Grochowska. Watch the pop-filled trailer above before it hits theaters on April 5!

Coachella Will Have Amazon Lockers This Year, So Don't Stress If You Forget Sunscreen

If you've ever been caught at a festival without sunscreen, a portable phone charger, or - God forbid - a flower crown, you probably wished for a quick delivery service to save you. Well, Amazon is going to provide a solution to that pesky problem at Coachella in the form of delivery lockers. For the first time ever, Coachella ticket holders can order their festival essentials ahead of time, or day-of, to an onsite Amazon Locker at no additional cost.

Amazon has a selection of delivery lockers established in permanent locations, but this will be the first time a "pop-up" locker of this kind has made its way to an event. You can select one of the lockers within the Coachella property as your shipping address and then claim your package using a barcode sent to your email address.

Coachella takes place April 12-14 and April 19-21 this year, but you can always prep ahead of time. In addition to the lockers, Amazon will have a curated storefront featuring recommended concert supplies in the weeks leading up to the festival.

"We want customers to make the most out of their weekend at Coachella," said Patrick Supanc, Amazon's worldwide director of lockers and pickup. "Bringing the convenience of Amazon Lockers to Coachella will help customers focus on their experience instead of worrying about forgetting something at home or having to carry it in with them."

The Absolute Best Way to Cook Zucchini Noodles

Congrats! You've successfully made zoodles in a spiralizer. Now, onto the important question: how do you actually cook them? Unlike pasta, you fortunately don't need to wait around for a pot of water to boil. Instead, you treat the veggie "noodles" as vegetables you'd normally sauté on the stovetop.

The best way to cook a batch of zoodles is to heat one or two tablespoons of oil, such as olive oil or coconut oil, in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the noodles with a generous pinch of salt and a little pepper. After about five minutes, the zoodles will be slightly softened but not mushy, which is what you're after. They'll be similar to the al dente texture of traditional pasta.

And that's it! You can turn off the heat and turn your zucchini noodles into a full meal catered to your preference. You could add homemade bolognese sauce, basil pesto and parmesan cheese, lemon butter shrimp and red pepper flakes, or even more of your favorite satueed veggies to the mix. After trying out this healthy alternative to carb-heavy pasta a few times, you might convince yourself you like it almost as much as the real thing.

Ready to get cooking? Here are some more zucchini noodle recipes to get you started.

The Act Trailer: The Chilling True-Crime Story of Gypsy and Dee Dee Blanchard Comes to Hulu

The stranger-than-fiction true crime story of mother-daughter pair Dee Dee Blanchard and Gypsy Blanchard is coming to the small screen courtesy of Hulu, and the first, brief trailer is downright chilling.

In The Act, which is being billed as "a seasonal anthology series that tells startling true crime stories," we meet the onscreen version of Dee Dee (Escape at Dannemora's Patricia Arquette), who initially appears to be a dedicated mother caring for her extremely ill daughter, Gypsy Rose (The Kissing Booth's Joey King). Over time the truth about their troubled bond is revealed, as people begin to wonder if Gypsy is indeed as sick as her mom says, or if it's a devastating case of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Eventually - as we see in the trailer when a seemingly healthy Gypsy is asked in the courtroom if she killed her mom - their relationship ends in murder.

The Blanchard case was most recently explored in HBO's 2017 documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, as well as Michelle Dean's investigative piece about the ordeal for BuzzFeed News (Dean is serving as coshowrunner alongside Channel Zero's Nick Antosca). AnnaSophia Robb and Chloë Sevigny also costar in the series, which is set to premiere on March 20.

Amazon Is Selling Boob Slippers, and I Can’t Help but Feel Tempted

I spend a lot of money on Amazon. From diapers to dog food and now, thanks to the nifty Amazon Go that has opened up near the office, lunch. And while I rely on the megaretailer for the necessities that keep my house afloat, I also lean on them for novelty items. Whether it's a girlfriend pillow or a vacuum jacket dog dryer, I can also add items to my cart that serve two purposes: something useful and something silly.

Which is why the next thing I'm likely adding to my next shopping trip are these Creative Unisex Slippers ($8). Slippers stopped being serious a long time ago, so why can't we push the envelope a little further and wear a pair that represent the female form? And I can't help but notice the subtle nod to breastfeeding mamas and all they do to nourish their children. I, for one, am on board.

We're Headed Back to Zamunda! Coming to America's Sequel Will Arrive in 2020

It's been 31 years since we've visited Zamunda, and it's about time we went back!

The long-awaited sequel to the 1988 romantic comedy Coming to America has officially become a reality. Paramount Pictures has tapped Craig Brewer, the director of Hustle & Flow and the Footloose remake, to lead the project. Brewer is fresh from having directed Eddie Murphy in the Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name, and according to Deadline, the two are eager to work together again.

Murphy is expected to return as Prince Akeem, who traveled from his fictional African country of Zamunda to escape an arranged marriage. He went on to find the love of his life and eventual queen, Lisa McDowell, in Queens, while giving us a plethora of iconic scenes. And yes, there are quite a few familiar faces in that clip, because Coming to America had a star-studded cast, including Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley, James Earl Jones, Samuel L. Jackson (briefly), and Louie Anderson. While we don't know who will be back for the sequel, we do know what the story is currently shaping up to be. Deadline reports that in the sequel, Akeem learns about a long lost son, and must return to America to meet his unexpected heir.

Black-ish creator Kenya Barris has been tapped to rewrite a script by original Coming to America writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, while Murphy will serve as producer with Kevin Misher. The release date has also been confirmed for Aug. 7, 2020!

"After many years of anticipation, I'm thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward," Murphy said in a statement. "We've assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I'm looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen."

Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson Scam the Hell Out of Rich Men in The Hustle Trailer

In the first trailer for The Hustle, Anne Hathaway adopts a posh British accent to play an experienced scam artist who takes Rebel Wilson under her very glamorous wing so they can scam a billionaire together - so, yeah, we're definitely seeing this.

The hilarious new comedy - which was originally titled Nasty Women and is a gender-swapped version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - was directed by Chris Addison and focuses on seeing Wilson and Hathaway's characters taking down the men who have wronged them. Previously, the roles were played by Steve Martin and Michael Caine in the 1988 crime comedy (as well as Marlon Brando and David Niven in the 1964 original, Bedtime Story). Fortunately, the latest iteration of the story promises stunning views of mansions, diamonds, Hathaway's extensive collection of gowns, and plenty of physical comedy from Wilson.

Tim Blake Nelson, Alex Sharp, Ingrid Oliver, and Emma Davies also star in the film, which will hit theaters on May 10.

Don't Worry: Taylor Schilling Is Just as Horrified as You Are About The Prodigy's Dog Scene

Having spent six years playing Piper Kerman on Orange Is the New Black, it should surprise no one that Taylor Schilling has experienced her fair share of unpleasant moments on screen. For instance, as a Litchfield inmate, she has her teeth shattered, finds herself starting a used panties business, and is held down while getting a swastika burned into her arm. And yet much of that pales in comparison to what Schilling's character must endure in The Prodigy.

In the Nicholas McCarthy-directed horror film, the Golden Globe- and Emmy-nominated actress plays Sarah, a mother whose genius-level young son, Miles (It's Jackson Robert Scott), begins to exhibit disturbing behavior the older he gets. Is he suffering from some sort of mental disorder? Or is something more sinister at work, like a demonic possession? Sarah struggles with her instinct to love and protect her son while also fearing for her and her husband's safety, encountering every mother's worst nightmare as she gets pulled deeper and deeper into the mystery of what, exactly, is up with Miles.

What results is an intensely creepy film, with an ending that legitimately made my jaw pop open in surprise. I hopped on the phone with Schilling herself to discuss it all, from the final shocking twist to what kind of roles might be next for her when OITNB ends for good this year.

Warning: spoilers for a key twist in The Prodigy are discussed ahead, so don't read any further if you want to keep that a surprise.

POPSUGAR: What really struck me while watching the film is that the plot is every mother's worst nightmare. But that being said, regardless of whether or not you have kids, the story is still effectively chilling, especially for women. I'm wondering what your first impression was after reading the script and seeing the lengths Sarah has to go to for her son.

Taylor Schilling: I was blown away by this character, and by the time I finished the script, particularly with the turns that Sarah takes . . . at the end, she's just trying to save her son. It really fooled me. It blew me away.

PS: That's actually interesting because I, myself, was a little surprised at the ending, when Sarah decides to kill the serial killer's lone survivor. What was your perspective on that? Why do you think Sarah decides to do what she does?

TS: Well, I think she's fighting for her son, and she feels a tremendous amount of responsibility for her child. And the intensity of the circumstances aren't something that everyone can relate to, but her instinct to be her son's guardian and do whatever it takes to make sure that he's safe and that he blossoms in the world is really what I think a lot of parents can relate to. I think she just goes all the way, and I think, in real time, the character Sarah is learning that there are parts of herself that she didn't know existed. That there's this ferocious fighter inside of her, and she's willing to do whatever it takes no matter what anybody else thinks.

PS: Did you anticipate that ending at all when you were first reading the script? Because I was genuinely surprised.

TS: What did it seem like to you while watching it?

PS: By the time that she gets to the hospital and sees her husband near death and leans down to whisper, "I'm going to fix this" or "I'm going to save our son" or whatever the line is, I assumed she'd finally made up her mind to kill Miles. Like that would be her way of "saving" everyone. Even though she'd discovered those newspaper clippings about the survivor in his bedroom, I still wasn't expecting things to get that dark. Although I guess a mother killing her son is pretty dark.

TS: Yeah, [the ending] really kind of blew me away, too. The choices that she made and is making throughout are . . . yeah, they're really something else.

PS: The evil kid horror genre has definitely been done before in a few ways, like in The Omen and Bad Seed, but this time I thought it was kind of fresh, I guess in a morbid way, how the serial killer comes to possess Miles. And seeing adorable Jackson Robert Scott committing all these heinous things is a trip. Was it hard for you when you were filming to see Jackson as truly scary?

TS: No, because I think he's so good at taking the twists that he needs to take. He's just a really good actor. So, he really did his job. He really is spectacular and kind of inspiring in that he can shift modes so quickly and so effortlessly. That [after a scary scene] he can just start playing. He's a great kid.

PS: Miles has to say some pretty brutal, unsavory stuff, especially in that scene when he's in the psychiatrist's office. It's kind of wild to hear that coming out of a little kid's mouth. What was it like doing those kinds of scenes with him?

TS: You know, some of that stuff . . . I was actually horrified when I met him, because I'd read the script and I knew that this child was going to have to say those things. I was preemptively very concerned for him, and this entire operation. I was concerned for everybody involved! [Laughs] But I think, if I'm not mistaken, he actually never said those words.

PS: I was wondering.

TS: I'm pretty sure they [dubbed] those lines in. He would get alternate sides on those days. And he'd be like, [imitates an annoyed little kid voice] "I know I have special sides. Let me see. Let me see." So he knew what was going on, but he didn't have [those sides]. And I think they had somebody else [dub] the stuff in later.

PS: In addition to all the creepy dialogue, there are also some really, really gruesome moments. I, personally, am still processing the dog scene.

TS: Oh, I know. I'm with you. I know. It's awful. It was brutal.

PS: So acting with a dead dog is as bad as it seems?

TS: Yes, it was awful. It was horrible. Yeah, it was horrible the day that I . . . I mean, there was one day that I didn't know [that scene] was happening. I walked in the makeup trailer and there was this mass of prosthetic. I didn't understand it was the prosthetic of a dead dog. A dog with blood on it. And it looked like a real dead dog in the makeup trailer! It was horrible. That was what was very upsetting. That was very scary.

PS: Oh my God. I can't imagine.

TS: It was horrible.

PS: As a viewer, it's always so nice to see an actor that you know and love from one thing - in this case, I've been watching you for six years on Orange Is the New Black - inhabiting a totally different character than usual. Was it exciting for you as an actress to do something other than playing Piper?

"I'm so excited to be doing something different. It's thrilling to me."

TS: Thank you so much. I'm so excited to be doing something different. It's thrilling to me. And yeah, that's what I'm looking for. Not necessarily things that are diametrically opposed for the purpose of being opposed to Piper, but different than Piper. Just stories that I'm excited about telling and directors that I want to work with and characters that seem interesting. Yeah, that's what I'm after.

PS: Is there a freedom - bittersweet, I'm sure - that comes with knowing that Orange Is the New Black is going to end and you'll have time for tons of other things in the future?

TS: Yeah. It's really exciting. It feels like the end of an era, like graduating from school or something akin to that. It's really a big deal.

PS: Yeah, when I was preparing for this interview, I actually was thinking to myself how the world is so different from when Orange first premiered to now. It's exciting, as a fan of the show, to know everyone on the cast is going to go out and be in all these new, wonderful projects. Is that something you guys have discussed at all yourselves?

TS: Yeah. What we have discussed and what I do know is that everybody is so excited about the possibilities that are in front of us. This show has given all of us so many opportunities and been such an incredible platform. But even with Natasha [Lyonne] going off and doing Russian Doll, or . . . everyone is able to spread their wings a bit now. It's very exciting.

PS: Now that you've done this horror film, is there anything in particular that you would want to do next? Whether it's a rom-com or another horror film or going on Broadway . . . anything like that?

TS: I think I'm just looking for a good story. I think I'm looking for the characters that I'm interested in playing, and projects that fit, and just surrounding myself with people that I love.

PS: Do you ever look for anything in particular about a potential film or TV show when you're reading a new script?

TS: The character and the journey. And now more than ever, I'm excited to be working with really great people. That's a part of what I'm looking for. I'm aiming for things in which I can express myself and parts of myself that people may not have seen before. There's a lot of work that I feel I have left to do as an actor. And I'm excited for the opportunity to explore different options, different opportunities.

Parents, Going to Every One of Your Kids' Games Matters More Than You Know

When I was growing up, both of my parents had demanding jobs. We lived in the suburbs and they worked in the city - my mom a court reporter, my dad a lawyer. They would endure the usually long and annoying commute back and forth every day, and many nights they'd still have some work to do when they got home. But while I know that now, my sister and I almost never felt that when we were younger. All we knew was that they were there . . . for every single thing.

At every game, I would search for their faces in the stands. When I found them, I knew I mattered. I knew my dreams mattered.

The big sport in my family has always been basketball. My dad played in college, and I pretty much attempted to dribble a ball as soon as I could walk. I begged to be in an endless amount of little leagues, went to basketball camp in the Summer, and played for my school's team in the Winter. When I got to high school, it became my top priority (and also took up most of my free time). And throughout my 15-plus years of playing basketball, my parents were at every single game. Every. One.

While I always loved seeing their faces in the stands, I didn't realize until I got older just how hard it must have been for them to do that. I know they must have had to leave work early a lot, endure long drives to faraway schools, fight their way through notoriously bad Midwestern snowstorms, and forget any personal stress to enthusiastically cheer me on. And since my sister played too, and we sometimes had games on the same day, they would divide and conquer to make sure we both had one of them there. No matter what was going on in their lives, they always, without fail, made being there for us a priority. It could have been the championship game during my senior year or a scrimmage in a just-for-fun Summer league - they were there.

When I look back on it now, having them at every game mattered more to me than I can probably ever explain. I wanted to show my dad that I listened to his tips during our Saturday morning practices in the driveway. I wanted to show my mom that I was as dedicated to the game as I told her I was. I wanted to prove that I was better at hustling down the court than my sister (sorry, sis - love you). I wanted to make them proud.

At every game, I would search for their faces in the stands. When I found them, I knew I mattered. I knew my dreams, no matter how silly or far-fetched they may have seemed, mattered. Whenever I would score points or play good defense, I would look up at my dad for his thumbs-up signal and listen for my mom's slightly embarrassing roar. Just like in every other aspect of my life, my parents proved I could rely on them. And that feeling has stuck with me throughout my life.

I know it isn't always possible or easy to show up and be at every game, but parents, even if you think it's no big deal (and even if your kids say it's no big deal), it matters. And if you can't be there, trying matters. I don't remember a lot of the birthday gifts I got growing up or cookies I ate before dinner, but I vividly remember my mom and dad, in their work suits and jackets, walking into every game I ever played.

This Is Us: What Will Happen With Kevin and Zoe After That Relapse Bombshell?

Warning: spoilers for the most recent episode of This Is Us ahead!

Just when you thought things were going so well! The end of the Feb. 12 episode of NBC's This Is Us, "Songbird Road: Part Two," seemed to be heading toward a happily ever after: Randall (Sterling K. Brown) comes home to reconnect with his wife, Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson), after a tumultuous few weeks before she goes to help her injured mom; his sister, Kate (Chrissy Metz), finally accepts that she has had blinders on about her childhood and is ready to plan for the future; and their Uncle Nicky (Griffin Dunne) is slowly seeking support for his PTSD.

But then there's Randall and Kate's brother, Kevin (Justin Hartley). In the last few moments of the episode, we learn that Hartley's character, a handsome actor who famously hides his pain, broke his sobriety when left alone with a bottle of whiskey and his feelings. While this may be hard to watch, it also rings true for everyone who has had real-life experiences with substance abuse and who thought Kevin had too easy of a time getting sober last season (even for a guy who is good at making it appear like he always has an easy time with things).

"You're never done grappling with addiction when it's real addiction," series creator Dan Fogelman told journalists during the show's Television Critics Association press day event on Feb. 7 in LA. "We went from a real fall for him to a real recovery really quickly. Often times, that's done on television accidentally. It wasn't done accidentally this time." This is Us showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger confirmed that this story arc was planned out well ahead of time. He said it was "just about telling an honest story."

"When we realized that Kevin was going through this real emotional journey of trying to discover a new part of his father's life, learning about a long-lost uncle and being told by that uncle that he doesn't want anything to do with him, it felt very real that it would send him back to this vices," Aptaker added.

And what does this mean for Kevin's blossoming relationship with Zoe, played by Melanie Liburd?

"There's a big focus on Kevin and Zoe in the rest of the season," Fogelman teased. But Berger warned that, in regards to Kevin finding the "one," "With all of our characters, it's always a journey. We're going to see, of course, some ups and downs along the way. But we're thinking in terms of the big picture in the long run."

It may take a while for fans to see this on screen. Next week's episode, titled "Our Little Island Girl," is all about Beth.

Survivors Relive the Parkland Shooting in New, Emotional Documentary - Watch an Exclusive Clip

On Feb. 14, 2018, a gunman armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle walked into building 12 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, and opened fire, killing 17 students and staff members and injuring 14 more.

As the first anniversary of the Parkland shooting approaches, filmmaker Charlie Minn explores the massacre and its aftermath in the new documentary Parkland: Inside Building 12. Through the harrowing stories of more than 40 students, cellphone videos, and law enforcement footage, Minn pieces together what happened during the six-minute-long shooting.

In this moving, exclusive clip from the film, several survivors recount their experiences that day. The film attempts to disrupt the narrative surrounding mass shootings by focusing on survivors' experiences instead of the shooter's. Minn hopes the film will contribute to the grassroots movement that prompted students, faculty, and parents to attempt to reform gun control legislation.

The documentary is available on Feb. 12 on Amazon and Hoopla Digital.

Welp, It Sure Sounds Like We Should Prepare Ourselves For a Harry Potter Reboot Someday

Whether or not you loved the Harry Potter film series, I'm sure you'd agree on one thing: the movies are instant classics, magical journeys that immediately made their way into the film canon . . . and the majority of our Muggle hearts. While it's true that the universe has broadened to the stage, it's hard to picture anyone else stepping into the roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron, especially when it comes to those seven epic years at Hogwarts. It's easy to believe the films' combined legacy will forever be preserved, and that no one will again attempt to capture Harry's magical journey on-screen. Then again, we all know how Hollywood works, and a reboot, however far down the line, seems like a practical inevitability at this point.

Year after year, the movie and TV world has brimmed with reboots, remakes, and reimaginings. Studios are desperate to reignite the nostalgia in audiences, and confident in the monetary return that comes with revisiting something that already smashed records. Why would such a beloved (and lucrative) series be overlooked?

"It feels like there's a sacredness around them at the moment, but that'll go, the shine will wear off at some point."

We're not the only ones who seem to be making a case for a potential Harry Potter rehash. In fact, the actual big-screen Boy Who Lived himself thinks it's unavoidable. In a recent interview with IGN, Daniel Radcliffe shared his thoughts on a potential reboot. "I'm sure there will be some other version of it; I know I'm not the last Harry Potter I'm gonna see in my lifetime - we've already got a few more," he said, referring to the actors who have continued his legacy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. "It will be interesting to see how long those films stay," he continued. "It feels like there's a sacredness around them at the moment, but that'll go, the shine will wear off at some point. It'll be interesting if they reboot them and just do the films again or do a series; I'm fascinated to watch."

I'd hate to lend too much weight to Radcliffe's claims, and surely it will be quite a long time before that "sacredness," as he puts it, wears off. Even so, we can't help but feel like Radcliffe's words are like another one of Professor Trelawney's prophecies. Now that he's uttered it, it's bound to come true. Someday.

My 2000s Chi Straightener Didn’t Spark Joy, So I Decided To KonMari All My Hair Tools

Back in the early 2000s, during the reign of Uggs and Juicy Couture, I begged my mom to buy me a hair straightener - namely, a Chi. Since middle school, I've only replaced my beloved Chi flat iron once, maybe twice, because I recently discovered I had three in a tangled mess shoved in the bottom of my drawer. After having my family home torn apart by Marie Kondo Jr., aka my mom, it felt like now was finally the time to see what "the life-changing magic of tidying up" was all about, and the drawer stuffed full of vaguely labeled "hair products" - brushes, spare bobby pins and hair ties, curlers, a missing cap, and a ball of cords - felt like a good place to start.

The KonMari method has two parts: discarding and, only then, deciding where to store things. Here's how I KonMari'd my hot tools, ahead.

Here's Why You Can Basically Count on a Third Happy Death Day Movie

When you consider the fact that Happy Death Day was basically an instant hit that quickly earned a second movie, it's easy to see how the film's sequel, Happy Death Day 2U, is set up for success. After all, the insane trailer promises more insane deaths, plenty of laughs, and more than a few scares. All things considered, it's hard to imagine a timeline (ha) in which writer-director Christopher Landon doesn't get the chance to make a third movie. You may think I'm getting ahead of myself, and on some level, you'd be right. But that's only because Universal hasn't officially signed off on a trilogy. That said, there are a few indicators that are giving us a lot of hope.

The main reason we're pretty confident about a third movie is, well, Landon wants to make one. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the creator of the universe said he has a "really bonkers" idea for the third go-round, and that he'd always envisioned this as a trilogy. POPSUGAR was also lucky enough to snag an interview with star Jessica Rothe, who reiterated that Landon had shared an insane final idea with her. "I think he has the whole idea in his head, but he's keeping it close to the chest," Rothe said with a laugh. She also shared an interesting premise idea from her costar Israel Broussard. "The thing that I think is really fun that doesn't give away anything, but Israel said yesterday, is he was like, 'Well, it seems to me there's an obvious progression: Movie one: Tree saves herself. Movie two: Tree saves her friends. Movie three: Tree saves the world?' So I actually have no idea if that's it, but I'm gunning for that. That's my superhero movie."

For the record, though, Rothe is 100 percent down to make a third film. In fact, she may be just as enthusiastic as the director himself. "All I know is, whatever I'm expecting, it will be completely different from anything I could ever imagine," she told us. "I also know and trust that it will be the appropriate bookend to this wonderful journey we've gone on with these crazy people." But first, let's all make Happy Death Day 2U a hit, right? See the movie so we can watch the epic conclusion to this absolutely wild ride.

Candice Patton on Representation and the Profound Impact of Playing Iris on The Flash

Candice Patton has developed a strong fan base for her role as Iris West-Allen on The Flash, but she's also had to deal with a fair amount of haters. Since getting cast as Iris, the actress has dealt with a ton of unwarranted harassment for portraying a character who was white in the comics. During POPSUGAR Play/Ground last year, Candice opened up about how she's overcome the hate while chatting with POPSUGAR's Kirbie Johnson during the Screen Queens panel with fellow CW stars Ashleigh Murray, Vanessa Morgan, and Caity Lotz.

"Comic book fans are very opinionated [and] very vocal," she explained. "So it was very scary stepping into that role when I started the show." She recalled that one of the producers actually warned her to not go online after she was cast due to all the negative comments. While it wasn't easy dealing with the harassment at first, it did get better eventually. "Over time, people have embraced me and embraced this character, and I know it's really important," she said. "What's great is that in years to come, people will remember Iris West as being African American."

Not only has she influenced how people will see Iris in years to come, but she has also made a great impact on her fellow CW costars. During the panel, Riverdale's Ashleigh Murray expressed how she dealt with similar harassment when she was first cast as Josie. "Josie is originally white in the comics and so is Melody," she explained. "We all ended up coming in as an all-black group."

While she's seen "people say some really unfortunate things" online, Ashleigh admitted that the gratitude and support she's received from fans outshines the negativity. "Now it's just white noise," she added. "I don't even notice it or see it much anymore. And it's probably thanks to [Candice], because if you had to go through it before I did, you probably made the transition a little bit easier."

Candice added that she's OK taking on the criticism if it means more women of color don't have to deal with it later. "The more we get cast, the more we unfortunately take the brunt, the easier it's going to get on every woman of color that comes after us," she said. "It's going to become the normal, I hope, sooner than later. If I have to deal with crap online so a girl that looks like me 10 years from now can successfully be on a show without any of that, then it's well worth it."

A List of Luxury Brands That Have Banned Fur (So Far)

Victoria Beckham recently made headlines after announcing that the fashion house would no longer use furs or exotic skins in their designs. According to the company's press release, the brand has "been looking to action the use of more ethically sourced products that have less environmental impact for some time." Thankfully, Victoria isn't the only designer to take a stand. In December of 2017, Michael Kors also announced that the fashion house would no longer use animal fur in any of its products. It follows in the footsteps of other luxury retailers who have gone fur-free, like Gucci. More and more brands are opting to adhere to ethical guidelines when it comes to sourcing products, and that's something we can all stand behind. Read on to see which major fashion houses have banned the use of fur, as we hope this list continues to grow in 2019.

Coach's Pink Leather Cardigan Is My Favorite Thing at Fashion Week Today

For the past few seasons, Coach has strayed decidedly bohemian, teaming up long maxi dresses and shearling coats. But really, the only runway staples that were brought over for Fall 2019 were the brand's iconic patent lace-up boot and signature monogram, which is now taking its most classic form on fuzzy slippers and outerwear. Aside from that, Coach has gone punk - Stuart Vevers sent dark skater pants with chains down the runway.

Plaid board shorts peeked out from under chiffon flutter dresses, and even though those ruffles were ladylike, the darker prints and luxe velvet had an edgy feel. We should mention those Mary-Jane heels, which, when admired alone, could pass for girlie. But styled with a ribbed beanie and oversize jacket, the Coach girl is walking to a brand-new beat. Even the two-toned furry coats had bright neon zipper tags that made them street style cool. And forget your grandma's cardigan - who's wearing fuzzy wool when you can be in pink leather?

Tory Burch Created the Most Amazing Heart Earrings For Her Fall Collection, and I'm in Love

Tory Burch is one brand that always knows how to take prep to the next level. The designer didn't disappoint with her latest Fall 2019 collection, which took place at the magical Pier 17. Last season, Tory took us on an adventure with her dreamy Summer dresses that were inspired by old photos of the designer's parents, who "traveled the world."

This season, models walked down the runway in perfectly tailored plaid pants and breezy, floral-printed dresses that can only be described as for the girl on the go. The thing that stood out to me the most was the gorgeous jewelry. There was a sea of crystal earrings and even a pair of giant heart earrings that stole my heart! She also designed chunky platform sneakers that proved this '90s trend isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Read on to see at each and every look from the amazing collection ahead.

Jennifer Aniston Redefined "Birthday Suit" With This Outfit, and I Hope Brad Pitt Was Watching

No matter what Jennifer Aniston wore on Saturday, she was always going to be the center of attention at her 50th birthday bash at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood. It just helps that the actress picked a scene-stealing jumpsuit for the occasion, so her guests wouldn't be able to keep from staring. And what a guest list it was, including George and Amal Clooney, Ellen DeGeneres, Kate Hudson, and, oh yeah, her famous ex-husband Brad Pitt.

Jennifer tried to maintain a low-profile exiting and entering the party, but we were able to catch a glimpse of her ensemble. Her strappy black jumpsuit included some sexy detailing in the back, which means it was likely meant to be seen from behind. Hey, if I was planning to run into an ex, I'd also pick something that looked damn good when I walked away. She completed the look with a matching shoulder bag, silver heels, and a blazer. Ahead, see even more glimpses of Jennifer's look and shop similar style for yourself.

This Flattering Top Is the Best Money I've Spent All Year - I Can't Stop Wearing It

You know that feeling when you're getting ready and staring at a fully packed closet, thinking, "Wow, I have nothing to wear"? I was experiencing that for awhile with my top selection. I had cute tanks and cozy sweaters, but not that one blouse that always made me feel confident no matter what. A few weeks ago, on my usual Nordstrom shopping trip, I discovered this Reformation Mari Top ($68), and I literally can't stop wearing it.

What makes it so good? The material is beyond soft and perfectly forms to my body. The ruched bust almost acts as extra padding and makes my small bust feel larger. But it doesn't just work for my body type: I let my sister, who has a large bust, borrow it and it worked for her too. Plus, its lightly billowy sleeves give off a romantic feel.

I first bought it in black and wore it with everything from skirts to work trousers - the list is endless. I loved it so much, I also bought it in white, and it's perfect for Spring. So what are you waiting for? Keep scrolling to shop both colors and get your size before it sells out.
