This $20 Product Will Stop Your Dog From Tracking Mud Into the House Ever Again

If you have a dog (or an outdoor cat), this scene likely plays out multiple times a day, every day of the year. You take your sweet pooch to play in the park, let them out in the backyard, or walk them around the block, and no matter what the season or what the weather, their paws become filthy. We all have our methods for cleaning said paws - a dry towel by the door, a package of baby wipes, a silent prayer that none of the mud will rub off onto your floors and furniture if you do nothing - but somehow, none ever seem to be truly effective . . . until now.

Enter: the Mudbuster Portable Dog Paw Cleaner, a $20 product that cleans dogs' paws in seconds, no matter where you are.

The portable product comes in three different sizes and has a three-piece setup that includes a canister with a rolled silicone mat inside. You simply add a bit of clean water, slide your furry friend's paw in, twist the Mudbuster so the soft silicone bristles can get all the gunk from between the pads of their paws, remove them squeaky clean, and pat to dry. Repeat the process for the other three paws, and let them run loose in the house without worry of muddy tracks all over.

Genius.

See exactly how the product works in the photos ahead, and grab one (or three) for your doggos.

Meghan Markle Lives by These Style Rules, Whether She Knows It or Not

Some of you might have been surprised when Meghan Markle came up with her own style code for royal appearances, seemingly breaking away from the expected. Not me, though. Meghan is not just confident when it comes to voicing her opinions and giving powerful speeches, but she also puts thought into her wardrobe.

Meghan is never just wearing an outfit because she thinks it's cute, and while she often appears effortless, she doesn't just throw something on. If you pay attention to her looks that have made a true impact on those around her, you'll find that she dresses with a few fashion rules in mind. I'm following in her footsteps, because imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, am I right? Read on to see what I've learned.

The Weird Role K-Y Jelly and Latex Played in Transforming Christian Bale Into Dick Cheney

Nasal plugs, K-Y Jelly, yellowing dental veneers - the key items scattered on set of the Academy Award-nominated film Vice sound more like what you'd find in a nursing home medicine cabinet than beauty products. And yet, these are just a few of many things the movie's makeup team used to transform a star-studded cast into rising politicians.

More specifically, Christian Bale looked nearly unrecognizable as former VP Dick Cheney, as did Amy Adams as his public image-minded wife Lynne, Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush, and Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld. "We needed to create over 75 'likeness' makeups of iconic characters across five decades within a 50-day shooting schedule - these products were indispensable," hair and makeup department lead Kate Biscoe told POPSUGAR.

"Throughout each decade, it was evident that Washington DC was dominated by very clean-cut men. No one stood out and you certainly didn't get ahead in DC by looking like an individual."

Creating that semblance of real people became a balancing act of fact versus fiction. "Throughout each decade, it was evident that Washington DC was dominated by very clean-cut men," she said. "No one stood out and you certainly didn't get ahead in DC by looking like an individual. I really wanted to juxtapose that 'cookie-cutter-ness' and the results of war in other parts of the world. So as clean and safe the DC look was, we went equally as dirty, sweaty, and bloody for all of the war scenes." Greg Cannom, the award-winning makeup designer behind Bale's transformation, added: "You can't get it exactly right, so at some point you just have to stop looking at the pictures and use your imagination to pull it off."

And pull it off, they did: the team's work in Vice was just nominated for an Oscar in the Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling category. Ahead, they're spilling all the behind-the-scenes beauty secrets, which - like most things kept behind closed doors in politics - are pretty damn juicy.

The Dance Team From That Viral Harry Potter Video Just Got a Perfect Score For This Routine

Guys. When I say I've been waiting for a new routine from the PAC dance team since October, I'm not exaggerating. The students from Walden Grove High School wowed me last year, not only with their viral Harry Potter moves, but with every single performance they gave on America's Got Talent. The team recently returned to the spotlight to compete in the Arizona state championships, and, spoiler alert: they took home the top honor with a PERFECT score.

Decked out in their own fraternity-inspired outfits that gave me major Beyoncé at Coachella vibes, they performed to hits like Jennifer Lopez's "Dinero" and Kanye West's "Ghost Town." Prepare yourself to be wowed again, and watch the full routine above. Congrats to the five-time state champions!

New Study Suggests Pumped Breast Milk Isn't as Good as Nursing, but It's Missing the Whole Point

Before I had my first child, terms like "mother's guilt" were abstract, devoid of any meaning. They had to be things people cavalierly said to merely describe benign feelings that only resembled guilt, I thought. But once I had my first daughter, I saw the way guilt waited for me in the middle of the night, tapping on my shoulder to remind me of something I wasn't doing right. That's when the gears clicked.

The math was simple: if something was wrong with baby, I had done something wrong. Breastfeeding was one of those things that went terribly wrong. It was the hardest rung on the ladder and one that, after enlisting the help of two lactation specialists and a dermatologist, I learned I would never be able to climb. Not being able to feed my daughter via the breast was peak mother's guilt for me. I'd have to feed her another way: by exclusively breast pumping.

Instead of bonding with my daughter in the way all the books and classes told me I would, I'd be separated from her, connected to tubes and a motor. I'd become more machine than mother.

A new study published in Cell Host & Microbe found that breast milk from women who pumped tended to have more potentially bad bacteria than women who only breastfed. I have to be honest: this makes me feel inadequate.

Breast milk from women who pumped tended to have more potentially bad bacteria than women who only breastfed.

The team of researchers looked at 400 samples, and while there was a wide variation of microbial balance at play, they noticed a common theme. Milk from moms who pumped were higher in certain bacterial families (stenotrophomonas and pseudomonadaceae). "To our knowledge, this is among the largest studies of human milk microbiota performed to date," said senior study author Meghan Azad, a researcher at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba and a Canada research chair in developmental origins of chronic disease at the University of Manitoba.

I don't pretend to be an expert in gut health and the microbiome, but there's evidence that the organisms living in our guts can affect our health. "Contrary or in addition to the hypothesis that milk bacteria come from the mother's gut, our results suggest that the infant's oral bacteria are important in shaping the milk microbiota," Azad continued. So while the researchers want to study this further, I can't ignore what's staring me right in the face. I should - and do - feel bad for having breast pumped.

Mothers don't pump because it sounds fun.

I already know I did the best I could. Every time a needle-like pain shot through my nipple and I wanted to throw my pump against the wall, I trudged on. I am a superhero. I know this. But the piece that's missing in this study for me is the human element. The mother's touch.

Mothers don't pump because it sounds fun. They don't stick their battered nipples into clumsy flanges and massage milk out of their bodies because they want to. They do it to give their child the "liquid gold" everyone tells us we need to. So, then, is there any benefit to me knowing that what I did still just wasn't as good?

Watch Out For These Signs That Someone on a Dating App Is Married or Taken

If you're single and browsing the dating app world, you're probably in the market for other single ladies and fellas out there to chat with online. You're most likely not interested in meeting people who are in committed relationships or are married when browsing nonaffair sites like Tinder or Bumble. Unfortunately, you never know who is really behind that profile. Earlier this year, Tinder crashed nationwide, and there was a surge in Ashley Madison by 20 percent with new member sign-ups in both the US and the UK. Why? Well, according to a 2015 survey of around 1,282 active Tinder users (at the time there were around 50 million people on Tinder), nearly 30 percent of Tinder users are married, while another 12 percent are in a relationship. Yikes. While this was a small sampling, and who really knows if people tell the truth in those kinds of surveys, it is a good reminder to keep your guard up when you're dating online. Don't fall for liars on Tinder and other dating apps - prepare yourself with these tips. Here are the red flags to look out for that someone you meet on a dating site is either married or taken.

What It Feels Like to Travel While Black

I woke up at 6 a.m. in a tiny hotel room in Tokyo, checked my phone, and found an email from our hostel in Kyoto: "You missed your check-in date." In a half-awake frantic moment, I rummaged through my bag to find the itinerary I had printed out before we left New York. We were supposed to have left Tokyo the day before to head to Kyoto. It slowly hit me that we had accidentally overstayed our reservation at this accommodation and no one at the front desk had said a thing. I woke up my boyfriend, screamed at him to pack up as quickly as possible, and we ran out of there like criminals in the early morning light.

The jet lag had overcome me since our arrival, and I had gotten my days mixed up, which was the most innocent of blunders. However, the main feeling overflowing me in that moment wasn't shame over this simple mistake, but instead, "Oh God, they're going to think I'm a horrible, stealing, gross, American black woman with no respect for their hotel." My white boyfriend couldn't fathom why I was so upset over this mishap. But as a white person, of course he'll never understand what it is like to not just inhabit a person of color's body, but to travel while black.

When I go abroad, I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders to be a good example of a black woman.

When I go abroad, I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders to be a good example of a black woman so negative stereotypes don't continue, especially in homogeneous cultures where there is a lack of diversity. The media doesn't exactly portray black people incredibly well, and people watch it and make assumptions about what we're like based on the color of our skin. In some places, they've rarely even seen a black person in real life.

I am constantly aware of every move I make when I step outside of the United States. There is not a single moment when I am not cognizant of how I'm representing myself as I walk through the streets of Bangkok or photograph the monuments of Paris. It's a stinging fear of my presence in their country not being a positive one and therefore contributing to their biases toward people who look like me. When a white person does something unfortunate, they don't become an example of their entire race. But when one black person does something wrong, it paints us all that way in the eyes of others.

I feel that I am lucky that my travels have not included overt racism toward me, and that shows me the world is changing a lot in its ideals and how it treats people. For some, an article such as this might be talking about the moments of discrimination they've faced while journeying, but I am thankful that I've seemingly been born in a time that lends better to my presence in a place not leading to a negative slur or race-based attacked. The worst treatment has unfortunately come from my being a woman more than anything else.

When a white person does something unfortunate, they don't become an example of their entire race. But when one black person does something wrong, it paints us all that way in the eyes of others.

I think of all the people in the past who looked like me and had adventurous spirits but couldn't go anywhere, and I feel that I have no right at all to complain about what it's like today. Black people are traveling more than ever. It's not a secret that there are many websites and Facebook groups out there that cater to a diverse group of travelers to inspire and connect with one another. There are finally amazing travel bloggers of color going to places in the world and reporting on what it's like to actually be there, sharing their experiences as diverse globetrotters.

But the numbers are still small compared to affluent white voyagers. Fear of how you may be treated, discouragement from your family and peers, or even just lack of resources to make a trip happen mean that there are still fewer people of color stepping out into much of the world, and there are instances of black people being stared at or even pulled into photographs like a celebrity because of their rare appearances in certain cultures. I have yet to be the subject of a selfie, but I have gotten called "Beyoncé" and "Oprah" before, despite looking nothing like them.

Traveling as a black woman is a form of activism to me. I strive to change perceptions through my actions abroad. I never want to leave a country having made a local citizen think lesser of black people due to something I have done. I act respectfully, dress according to cultural standards, attempt to learn basic words in their language, respond politely, and interact cordially with those I meet. It's all done in order to maintain some sort of picture that I am not whatever ill-willed nonsense American media wants to portray me as and that there's no reason to be afraid or suspicious of my actions, just in the same way I wouldn't want a security guard following me through a store as I shop.

I still think back to when we stayed the extra night in Tokyo and what the owner of the hotel must think of me or if they even noticed or cared, and I hope it didn't reflect badly on my kinfolk who stay there in the future. Perhaps I'm overthinking it too much and should relax, but it's because I do care about the future of black travel that I pour so much of my heart into my behaviors abroad and only want to be the best I can be so things are better for everyone in the times to come.

I Gave Up Technology Before Bed to Help Me Sleep - Here's Why Everyone Should Do It

There's something about warm pajamas that makes me want to scroll through Instagram. Even if it's late and I have work the next day, I'm never too tired to check up on my favorite personal trainers, poets, and, let's be real, the Kardashian-Jenners (the life of 1-year-old Stormi Webster is one I follow quite closely). But here's some bad news: the blue light emitted by phone and computer screens can have a negative effect on your slumber because it suppresses the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep.

Alon Avidan, MD, MPH, director of the UCLA Sleep Disorders Center, told POPSUGAR in a previous interview, "We find that a lot of people bring electronics into the bedroom and have the cellphone and all kinds of electronic devices that emit light, which tends to disrupt the sleep-and-wake cycle." To combat this, the National Sleep Foundation recommends turning off all devices an hour before bed, according to the Harvard Business Review. So, for six days, I decided to give it a try in the name of journalism. This meant that, no, I couldn't watch my beloved Vampire Diaries, browse trending Twitter news, or say hi to my girl Stormi. I went into it a skeptic but came out on the other side a believer.

A Whole Lot of Reading and a Whole Lot of Calm

I'm a commuter. By the time I get home from NYC, I have so much I want to do (work out, eat dinner, shower, cuddle with my cat, watch Vampire Diaries) that in order to do it all, I need to stay awake past midnight. So, my hour-before-bed technology cutoff ended up being 11 p.m. on work nights. I made some adjustments to my routine. For one, I shortened calls with my boyfriend so they wouldn't run late. I also set up a daily reminder in my phone (of all things) to put it away, and I made sure I had a notebook and pen by my bed to write down what I was feeling (which turned into scribbles the heavier my eyes grew).

So, what happened when the "Stop using your phone!!!" message popped onto my screen at 11 p.m.? I did what I'm ashamed to say I haven't done in months: I read. Part of me felt like I was offering up my phone like a sacrificial lamb at the slaughter. Surely I'd never see it again. There was an urgency in my fingers that drove me crazy at first - they needed to be doing something besides hold the hardcover spine of a book - but each day that I read Alanna Okun's The Curse of the Boyfriend Sweater: Essays on Crafting in place of internet scrolling, it got easier to ignore the urge to look up the author's Twitter handle and check my alarm for the 20th time (social media could wait and my alarm was set).

Even after just one day, I noticed that I slept better, meaning I didn't get up as much during the night. I also seemed to melt into sleep as opposed to waiting anxiously for it. Reading at night with zero distractions somehow made sleep rush over me like waves. Normally it's something I have to chase after; it almost never comes to me so swiftly.

Weekend Time Out

I couldn't do it over the weekend. I just couldn't pull myself away from Vampire Diaries (the sexual tension between Elena and Damon was just too good). I felt restlessly wired by the end of my binge-watching, and I grew frustrated with how hard it was to completely fall asleep once I managed to tear myself away from the vampires. That being said, I'm glad I faltered. I was able to contrast these nights, when I stayed up until 2 a.m. with Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore brothers, with nights one through three, when sleep seemed easy. Reading made me feel calm; Netflix, though good for unwinding, kept my eyes open wide. Yes, I was unsuccessful Friday and Saturday, but I was excited to go phone-free once 11 p.m. came around that Sunday. For me, it was the most important night to put technology aside because of Sunday scaries, and the calm I later felt further confirmed that books made slumber come to me instead of vice versa. I didn't need to seek it out like I did on nights I was glued to a screen.

The Verdict: Would I Do It Again?

Absolutely. I'd definitely benefit from unplugging before bed during the work week. It might be unrealistic to put down my phone and turn off Netflix a full hour prior to sleep, but I think lying comfortably with a book instead of scrolling through Instagram is a great practice to have. It's also unrealistic to say that I'm going to incorporate this into my bedtime routine on Friday and Saturday nights when I'm less concerned about waking up early the next day. Besides, weekends aren't as structured. But this experiment taught me that it's nice to put some space between myself and technology. So find a novel. Take out that sketch pad you haven't used in weeks. Try a series of new stretches. Stormi Webster (and, yes, even Vampire Diaries) can wait until the morning.

Mac and Cheese That's High-Protein AND Vegan?! Sign Us Up Right Now!

When I think of protein, pasta is the last thing that comes to mind; after all, it's carbs. But Modern Table is known for its gluten-free hearty noodles made with a blend of lentils, rice, and pea protein. "Everyone loves pasta, but it's not exactly good for you," the company explains on its website. "We wanted to make pasta that tastes good, but packs in nutritional value." Now, it launched a new line of vegan mac and cheese with 16 grams of protein per serving. Three flavors have hit Whole Foods nationwide this month: Southwest, Classic Cheddar Style, and White Cheddar Style. Each carton retails for $4.

A Modern Table spokesperson told POPSUGAR, "Some of our most loyal customers are vegan, and many others think of themselves as flexitarian - looking to eat less meat and dairy. We're seeing a major push toward foods that simply taste great and also happen to not have dairy or meat in them." In response, the vegan mac line was born.

To top it all off, you can get creative with your mac! Jasmine, a plant-based blogger, told us that she tried the Southwest flavor and detailed on her Instagram feed how she created a vegan Hamburger Helper dish by combining the mac and cheese with Beyond Meat Burgers. The result, she wrote, was "delicious." Vegan junk food doesn't actually have to be "junk" - it can fuel you through the day. Note: every carton is labeled with nutritional facts for packaged and prepared mac and cheese. We're giving you information on protein, fiber, calories, and more for the finished product (once you add milk and butter). Because nobody's eating dry, uncooked mac!

Get Your Upper Body Ready to Work With This Trainer's 7 Essential Warmup Moves

By now, you probably already know how important it is to warm up before any kind of workout. The best warmups prep your body and nervous system to handle different moves and loads, and skipping them can lead to soreness or injury. But it can be tough to figure out exactly what moves to do to get your body warm, especially when it comes to upper-body work. How do you get your arms ready for push-ups without just . . . doing push-ups?

"The best warmup moves are movements that look similar to your workout for the day," BOC-certified athletic trainer Liz Letchford, MS, told POPSUGAR. So, thinking about the actual moves you're going to do will help you figure out how to prep for them. If those are "pulling" exercises, like pull-ups, rows, or bicep curls, you'll need to warm up your core and lats. Push-ups? "You'll want to get especially connected to your scapular stabilizers, core, and hips," Liz said.

Liz says that active range-of-motion exercises are more effective than static stretching since you're activating and stretching the muscle while getting it warmed up. (Here's a 10-minute active full-body warmup to get you started.) And it's just as important to get your joints ready to work, too. Liz recommends doing controlled articular rotations (CARs) before every workout: moves like arm circles and forearm rotations that activate your joints and improve range of motion.

All in all, aim to warm up for eight to 10 minutes before your upper-body workout. Start by getting your blood flowing with some cardio, like jumping jacks, jogging, cycling, or a brisk walk; then, get into your upper body. This List of Foods You Can Eat on the Mediterranean Diet Proves It's Not Really a Diet

If you feel like you've heard about the Mediterranean diet a lot lately, you're not wrong. It was named the best diet of the year for what feels like the thousandth time and for good reason. Not only has the Mediterranean diet been proven effective for weight loss, but it can also reduce your risk for heart disease and even help you live longer. And as more dieters move away from more restrictive plans, a diet that allows you to eat carbs and drink wine will undoubtedly only grow in popularity.

In fact, the Mediterranean diet feels less like a diet than a lifestyle. "The diet is rooted in enjoyment of eating and staying active," Elissa Goldman, MS, RD, LDN, founder of Nutrition by Elissa in Arlington, MA, told POPSUGAR. "Rather than counting or restricting a food group, the Mediterranean diet encourages the addition and consumption of whole foods."

If you're thinking of giving it a go, you're in luck - Elissa gave us some suggestions for what you can (and should) eat on the Mediterranean diet, right ahead.

6 Habits Experts Swear by For More Restful Nights and Happier Mornings

If you feel like you're moving from one long, groggy day to the next, it might be time to re-evaluate your sleep hygiene, a term coined by experts to describe good habits that can help you fall asleep and stay asleep. If that just sounds like more work, consider the following laundry list of consequences for too little shut-eye. "Poor sleep makes us want to eat more and eat bad things," he continued. "It also affects digestion, cardiac functioning, hypertension risk, diabetes risk, the immune system, and more." Just note that intermittent fasting may not be right for everyone, especially those with a history of disordered eating. Registered dietitian Lisa Eberly Mastela, MPH, RD, told POPSUGAR that any form of IF should be done under the supervision of a registered dietitian.

If you're ready to dive in, here's what beginners need to know about how to use intermittent fasting to lose weight.

To Lose Weight and Feel Full, a Doctor Says to Focus on This During Every Meal

Whether you're sneaking in lunch while running errands, inhaling breakfast on your commute, or kicking back in front of the TV for dinner, multitasking while you eat can be efficient and even enjoyable. But you also may have noticed how easy it is to overeat when you're not totally focused on your food and your hunger level. And when it comes to weight gain, that extra, distracted eating can add up fast.

The solution is simple but effective: sit back, focus on your food, and enjoy it to its fullest, says John Morton, MD, chief of bariatric surgery at Stanford University. Dr. Morton recommends appreciating every aspect of your meal: looking at the food in different ways, enjoying "the beauty of it - its color, its smell, its preparation." Appreciating your food, he says, can really make a difference in the way you feel while you're eating and afterward. Beyond giving you more time to tune in to your hunger cues, you'll also feel more satisfied and less likely to reach for another snack.

Paying close attention to your food will help you eat more slowly, which research has linked to smaller waist sizes as well as lower BMI and rates of obesity. You'll feel less bloated, too. And it makes sense: if you slow down to savor each bite, eating will take you more time and you'll realize exactly when it's time to stop.

So, eat more attentively - easier said than done, right? The way I think of it is that food is so delicious, it only makes sense to enjoy it as much as possible. Close your eyes and let yourself really appreciate all the goodness in each forkful, even if it's "just" a salad or some meal-prepped chicken. You'll avoid overeating and may see some weight-loss benefits, but even better, you'll feel fully satisfied and content after every meal.

Yes, You Can Drink Alcohol and Still Lose Weight - Here's How

Empty calories from alcohol can add up fast; a happy hour with friends or a boozy brunch can easily tack on a few hundred liquid calories if you're not careful. And while alcohol itself has extra calories with no nutritional benefit, the other culprits, such as mixers, fancy cocktails, and full-bodied beers, are all packed with more than a day's worth of sugar and lots of empty carbs.

So if you're trying to lose weight, you probably think you need to give up alcohol entirely, right? Not exactly. While completely cutting out the booze will help you reach your goals faster, there's nothing wrong with enjoying a couple drinks with friends - it won't totally derail your progress. POPSUGAR tapped some dietitians to get the expert input on how to drink alcohol and still lose weight.

Can You Drink Alcohol and Still Lose Weight?

"You don't have to completely give up on enjoying drinks with friends while working on losing weight," Elora Bazanele, RD, LD, dietitian and founder of Love Food B Fit told POPSUGAR. "However, keep in mind that drinking alcohol contributes to our total daily calorie intake while providing minimal nutrients such as protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber that our bodies need to stay healthy."

And it's not just the extra calories you need to worry about; registered dietitian Julie Upton MS, of Appetite For Health said that drinking also stimulates your appetite and chips away at your willpower. "Ever wonder why Taco Bell or pizza seem like a good idea at 1 a.m. after you've been out drinking?" she said.

So while yes, you can still meet your weight-loss goals and enjoy alcohol, be mindful of your choices. Liquid calories are still calories that factor into your daily calorie intake. You shouldn't skip meals to make up for your alcohol calories, but be mindful of the other choices you make throughout the day. You should also stick to lower-calorie beverages such as a dry wine or a shot of liquor with a no-calorie mixer, such as seltzer water.

How Many Drinks Should You Have a Week If You Want to Lose Weight?

And while the calories in each drink are important, it's also important to monitor how much you are drinking in any given week. "Having a glass of wine a few times a week shouldn't be a problem, but if you have two or three glasses each night, those calories can make a big difference in your weight loss efforts," sports dietitian Cindy Dallow, PhD, RD, told POPSUGAR.

Bazanele added that since everyone has unique calorie needs, this number will vary from person to person. The Mediterranean Diet, which is proven to aid in weight loss and help heart health, allows women to have one five-ounce glass of red wine a night, which adds up to five drinks a week. Upton's recommendations are a little less at just two to three drinks a week.

Of course, you don't need to drink this much if you don't want to; Bazanele said that if you have a history of alcohol abuse or have trouble limiting your intake, you may want to refrain from drinking altogether and seek help from a medical professional.

What Drinks Should You Avoid?

Navigating the drinks list at your local bar can be like a minefield of added sugars and empty carbs. While there is no inherently "bad" beverage and you should enjoy everything in moderation, if you're trying to lose weight, you may want to be mindful of how many calories are in each drink.

Upton said to watch out for fancy cocktails since they can have up to 500 calories a pop; even traditional cocktails like white Russians and margaritas can be made with tons of sugar syrups or heavy cream. Some craft beer, which can be high in alcohol per serving, can also contain hundreds of calories. In general, Dr. Dallow said to focus on drinking less often than what exactly you're drinking each time you have an alcoholic beverage.

"Having one high-calorie drink on the weekend will not destroy all of your weight-loss efforts, and you shouldn't feel guilty or off-track if you choose to drink one," Bazanele said. "Keeping a mindful relationship when it comes to alcohol consumption is vital in keeping both the mind and body healthy."

A Beachbody Dietitian Says Do These 7 Things to Reduce Belly Fat

Although you unfortunately can't spot-reduce belly fat, you can lower your overall body fat percentage and diminish belly bloating, both of which will help slim your waistline. These are the six things she suggests to reduce belly fat (and keep it off for good!).

Does Breakfast Help You Lose Weight and Boost Your Metabolism? Here's What an Expert Says

Metabolism is one of those things that is really important to know - like algebra, how to do your taxes, and politics - but it's super confusing. Because it's a complicated topic, there's a lot of incorrect information floating around. First, let's clear up a few popular myths. No, drinking water first thing in the morning won't boost your metabolism. Eating more spicy foods, doing ginger and cayenne pepper shots, and drinking coffee also won't work.

When it comes to breakfast, we know people think it's either the most important meal of the day or that it isn't that important. Some people also believe breakfast is the key to boosting your metabolism. In order to find out if there's any validity to this claim, POPSUGAR spoke to Avigdor Arad, PhD, RDN, CDE, director of the Mount Sinai PhysioLab.

Bloating Is the Worst - Here Are the Most Likely Causes and How to Squash Them Fast

To put it simply, bloating sucks. It's miserable to feel like you've got a boulder sitting in your stomach, often to the point that you can barely move. That's how I feel, at least, when intense bloating sets in. Everyone experiences different levels of bloating and for wildly different reasons, but there are some things you can do to prevent it from happening as often and some simple ways to knock it out once it hits you. We spoke with two doctors who have dealt heavily with bloating to see exactly what you can do next time it strikes.

What Causes Bloating?

The annoying pain of bloating can be caused by a variety of things, though periods are one of the biggest culprits. "Most women experience mild bloating a week or two before a period that is caused by normal cyclic hormonal changes," Sherry Ross, MD, an ob-gyn at Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, told POPSUGAR. Fortunately, it cycles back out just as easily as it came.

Beyond that, bloating frequently results from issues in your diet. Ariana Greenwood, MD, a gastroenterologist with the Centura Health Physician Group in Colorado, explained that FODMAP foods are particularly problematic. FODMAP stands for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols. "They are short-chain carbohydrates that, if poorly digested, ferment in your bowels," she said, thus causing you to bloat. High-FODMAP foods include things such as cauliflower, mushrooms, apples, and watermelon.

How to Stop Bloating Once It Starts

If you've got period bloat, getting up for a workout could be your saving grace, despite how uncomfortable you might be. "The feel-good and mood-boosting endorphins and serotonin help ease the pain and stress experienced during certain times of the month. Walking, jogging, Pilates, yoga, and swimming are excellent choices," Dr. Ross said. She also suggests drinking green tea, as it's a natural diuretic and can help you shed water weight.

Exercise can help ease the discomfort even for bloating that's unrelated to your period. When you're not feeling up to it (or if your workout isn't helping), Dr. Greenwood suggests trying an over-the-counter treatment like Beano or Gas-X.

Can You Prevent Bloating From Happening in the First Place?

Yes! You can usually keep bloating at bay when it's related to food. Dr. Greenwood reiterated that FODMAP foods should be avoided if they're causing you to bloat. Carbonated beverages are another one to cut back on or even cut out completely.

For additional relief, Dr. Ross recommends eating a healthy, balanced diet that's high in bloat-fighting nutrients like vitamins E and D, thiamine, and magnesium.

Want to Lose Belly Fat in a Month? It's Possible - Here's How to Do It

Thirty days may not seem like a lot of time, but a lot can happen in a month: you could get married, win the lottery and quit your job, or traipse around Europe on a life-changing vacation. More realistically, you can use 30 days to get stronger or, if you're looking to shed belly fat, lose inches and see results.

Although you won't be able to completely transform your body or even lose more than a few pounds in a month, you can jump-start your weight-loss journey and be well on your way to achieving your goals. Just be mindful that while you can lose weight in a month, you can't specifically target your belly; there's no such thing as being able to spot-reduce fat (your body decides where the fat comes from - yay, genetics!). We tapped registered dietitian and ACSM-certified personal trainer Jim White, who owns Jim White Fitness and Nutrition Studios and helps clients reach their weight-loss goals, for insight on how to lose belly fat in 30 days.

How Much Weight You Can Lose in 30 Days

Jim said people can healthily lose half a pound to two pounds a week. In a month, that could add up to four to eight pounds lost. Since one pound of fat equals 3,500 calories, to lose one pound a week, you would have to burn approximately 500 extra calories a day. This can be achieved through eating in a healthy calorie deficit or working out to burn extra calories (or a combination of both). Other lifestyle factors also play a role. Getting enough sleep will ensure your body recovers well and that you'll be energized for your workouts the next day. And too much stress increases the stress hormone cortisol, which can increase your cravings for caloric refined carbs and comfort food, which will prevent you from losing weight (especially in your belly). Make sure, in addition to eating in a calorie deficit, that you're also getting at least seven hours of sleep a night and managing your stress.

You can also lose inches in 30 days. "Just in my own 15 years of experience in working with patients, I have seen some lose up to five to 10 inches in a month from losing four to eight pounds," Jim told POPSUGAR. Keep in mind those five to 10 inches aren't just from your belly; those are full-body measurements from all major areas, including your waist, hips, chest, arms, legs, shoulders, and neck. He added that the inches lost depend on if you are weight training, what kind of cardio you're doing, how much water you're drinking, and how many calories you're eating.

How to Get Results in 30 Days

It takes a multipronged approach to see results in 30 days. Jim advises doing cardio for 30 to 60 minutes, three to five days a week. The goal is to burn 500 calories a day; this can be achieved through cardio, eating in a calorie deficit, and getting in more steps. He also advises strength training two to four days a week. Not only does strength training also burn calories, but it helps build lean muscle, too, which burns more calories at rest.

NASM-certified personal trainer Sydney Eaton, head of fitness and programs at PK Coin App, said that high-intensity interval training, or HIIT, can also be an effective way to burn fat fast. "I've seen many clients achieve desirable results in a very short amount of time with [HIIT]," Sydney told POPSUGAR. For your cardio days, you could opt to do HIIT in the form of sprints on the treadmill or a 20-minute no-equipment HIIT workout.

As we mentioned above, eating in a calorie deficit is key. Jim recommends eating 500 calories less than your total daily energy expenditure, or TDEE. This is the number of calories you burn in a day, which is based on factors like age, height, sex, and activity level. To calculate what this number is and what your calorie target should be to lose weight, use this formula. Just make sure you don't go below 1,200 calories a day for women; in a previous interview, Jim said eating any fewer calories than that can slow down your metabolism and result in negative side effects like low energy, loss of hair, hunger pangs, and a negative impact on your menstrual cycle.

When it comes to what you eat, you need to dial in your diet to see results in a short amount of time. Jim recommends limiting your indulgences to one meal a week, cutting back on eating after dinner (like that late-night scoop of ice cream you just can't resist), and limiting caloric beverages such as alcohol, soda, and other sugary drinks.

Although everybody is different and some people may take a longer period of time to see results (or may see results faster!), it is possible to notice a difference in belly fat in just 30 days. With a careful approach to exercise, diet, and other lifestyle factors, you will be on your way to shrinking your belly.

Sparks Fly Between Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron in the Hilarious Trailer For Long Shot

Huh, who would've thought: Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron are the leads we never knew we needed in a romantic comedy.

In their upcoming film Long Shot (which was originally titled Flarsky, so, count your blessings), Theron plays Charlotte, the secretary of state who's gearing up a campaign to be president, while Rogen stars as Fred Flarsky, a journalist. It just so happens that Charlotte used to babysit Fred when they were younger, and a chance run-in at a party brings them together again as adults. When she hires him as the speechwriter for her campaign? Well, sparks fly.

The film is also bolstered by the comedic presence of Randall Park as Fred's boss, O'Shea Jackson Jr. as Fred's BFF, June Diane Raphael as Charlotte's assistant, and Alexander Skarsgard as . . . well, we don't know yet, but it's safe to assume he'll play some superhot ex of Charlotte's since this is a romantic comedy, after all. Watch the trailer above, and catch Long Shot when it arrives in theaters on May 3.
