Lady Gaga Updated Old Hollywood Glamour at the Oscars With This Subtle Detail

Lady Gaga's award show glamour has been both captivating and completely unpredictable (let's not forget how shook we were when she showed up at the Golden Globes with icy blue hair that matched her gown for the evening). Tonight's look has us even more obsessed, as she opted for Old Hollywood beauty that was made more modern with subtle metallics.

She arrived on the red carpet with her eyes lined with the silvery Marc Jacobs Beauty Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Steel(etto) ($24), fluffy brows, and a glossy lip. The frosty liner shone against the elegant black dress that opened up to reveal her newest tattoo - a rose inspired by her film A Star Is Born, which is nominated for seven awards, including Best Picture.

See more shots of Lady Gaga's Oscars beauty look, ahead.

Laura Harrier Wore a Green Dress on the Red Carpet, but All We Can See Is Her Blue Eye Shadow

We've had a serious style crush on BlacKkKlansman actress Laura Harrier for a long time, but when she stepped out on the Oscars red carpet, our jaws dropped. The actress stunned in a bespoke Louis Vuitton gown that was created in partnership with the Red Carpet Green Dress initiative, so we'd be in love with it no matter what. But what made the blue, Cinderella-like dress stand out even more was her matching blue eye shadow. The eye-catching choice was definitely a statement, but it's one we're obsessed with.

A bold eye look that happens to suit her dress perfectly is a serious beauty win and one that we'd love to re-create at home. If you're interested in trying out the statement shadow, just keep reading. We've rounded up some of our favorite blue shadows, so all you have to do is shop.

Charlize Theron Dyed Her Hair Brown Ahead of the Oscars, and Damn, Does She Look Good

Charlize Theron underwent a significant makeover right before a casual little event known as the 2019 Oscars. The actress, who has worn her hair in a blond bob for some time now, dyed her hair dark brown and cut it slightly shorter before the award show on Feb. 24. In fact, her hairstylist Adir Abergel said he had dyed Charlize's hair earlier in the week and cut it that very morning. He added, "Hair is your greatest accessory and the best way to transform a look quickly." Bold brown hair aside, Charlize also kept her makeup fun and fresh with an orange-red lipstick. Check out Charlize's exciting red carpet reveal ahead.

The Weird Role Lube and Latex Played in Transforming Christian Bale For Vice

Nasal plugs, K-Y Jelly, yellowing dental veneers - the key items scattered on set of the Academy Award-nominated film Vice sound more like what you'd find in a nursing home medicine cabinet than beauty products. And yet, these are just a few of many things the movie's makeup team used to transform a star-studded cast into rising politicians.

More specifically, Christian Bale looked nearly unrecognizable as former VP Dick Cheney, as did Amy Adams as his public image-minded wife Lynne, Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush, and Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld. "We needed to create over 75 'likeness' makeups of iconic characters across five decades within a 50-day shooting schedule - these products were indispensable," hair and makeup department lead Kate Biscoe told POPSUGAR.

"Throughout each decade, it was evident that Washington DC was dominated by very clean-cut men. No one stood out and you certainly didn't get ahead in DC by looking like an individual."

Creating that semblance of real people became a balancing act of fact versus fiction. "Throughout each decade, it was evident that Washington DC was dominated by very clean-cut men," she said. "No one stood out and you certainly didn't get ahead in DC by looking like an individual. I really wanted to juxtapose that 'cookie-cutter-ness' and the results of war in other parts of the world. So as clean and safe the DC look was, we went equally as dirty, sweaty, and bloody for all of the war scenes." Greg Cannom, the award-winning makeup designer behind Bale's transformation, added: "You can't get it exactly right, so at some point you just have to stop looking at the pictures and use your imagination to pull it off."

And pull it off, they did: the team's work in Vice was just nominated for an Oscar in the Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling category. Ahead, they're spilling all the behind-the-scenes beauty secrets, which - like most things kept behind closed doors in politics - are pretty damn juicy.

Lucy Boynton and Her Fabulous Glam Team Win Our Pick For the Red Carpet Beauty Icon Award

Award seasons come and go, and while everyone looks stunning on the carpet, rarely do stars experiment with playful, avant-garde looks at the level Lucy Boynton has this year. The actress, who appears in Bohemian Rhapsody alongside her recently confirmed boyfriend, Rami Malek, stunned in several retro looks at the beginning of the season that had us feeling like we were watching a scene straight out of Valley of the Dolls or like she had just left a gig. (We're getting major Debbie Harry vibes, too.)

As more events came and went, we saw Boynton develop into a full-fledged beauty star, showing off everything from Ziggy Stardust-inspired eyeliner to looks inspired by caution tape - and it was all mesmerizing. Boynton's willingness to venture past traditional red carpet looks is obviously a huge part of it, but we'd be remiss not to attribute these standout styles to her glam team, specifically makeup artist Jo Baker. Baker shows off Boynton's looks on her Instagram and includes inspiration behind each look: custard, power lines, birds - nothing is off limits when it comes to developing a makeup theme for the actress.

Her blond bob was mostly styled (and cut!) by artist Jenny Cho, who also took a lot of artistic liberties. Braids, embellishments, bows - Cho proved short hair doesn't have to miss out on lively styles.

We love a bit of whimsy and a well-implemented theme, and seeing these looks on a red carpet only makes our job more fun. Check out the gallery for some of our favorite looks. And congrats to Boynton, Baker, and Cho for pulling together true works of art.

To Stop Overeating, I Ate Exact Serving Sizes For a Week - I Failed but Learned This

I'm a serial out-of-the-bag snacker, and I can tell you exactly why. I like feeling unrestricted by anything but the bottom of the bag. I like shaking the crumbs into my mouth at the end. I like that I don't have to wash extra dishes.

I've read so much about how easy this habit makes it to binge and overeat, and I happily ignored all of that advice until recently. Ignoring my portion sizes has gone from occasional binges to frequent overeating, almost on a schedule - big scoops of peanut butter with breakfast, handfuls of pretzels in the afternoon, huge egg scrambles for dinner followed by chocolate spread straight out of the jar. The bigger the portion size, the faster my joy of eating it fades, but with the bag or plate or jar right there, it's so satisfying to keep nibbling until I feel bloated and nauseous.

What I Did

To curb my overeating, I decided to eat no more than a full, FDA-approved serving size (the one printed on food labels) for every food I ate. The goal was to hold out for a full week and see how it affected what I ate and how much I ate, and how I felt afterward.

I don't like imposing rules on my eating; the temptation to rebel always gets the best of me. But I liked how accessible this was: all I had to do was read the label, break out my measuring cups, and eat. And I was sick of eating past the point of satisfaction. Maybe if there was "someone else" telling me how much to eat, I'd be able to control myself.

What Happened?

The first night, I decided to make scrambled eggs with avocado on top. I looked up the serving size of an avocado online (one-third of an avocado - not bad), then carefully turned over the carton of eggs to check the label. I stared. Then I laughed. The serving size was one egg. I don't think I've eaten just one scrambled egg since I turned double digits. Then I did something that would become a habit for me over the next week: said "screw it," ignored the one egg serving size, and cracked open four.

"I'll start tomorrow," I told myself and inhaled the eggs.

Over the course of the week, I tried to portion out everything I ate, with varying degrees of success. I counted out pretzels, nuts, and pieces of cereal, measured out almond milk to the half-cup, cut my avocados into thirds, and scooped out peanut butter with a tablespoon, scraping off the excess with a knife.

My normal routines started to fall apart. Eating a lighter dinner meant I couldn't wait for my 16-hour intermittent fasting window to end every morning; I started regularly cutting it three or four hours short and wolfing down my portioned-out breakfast and snacks before noon, throwing off my eating schedule even more. It got worse and worse throughout the day.

At night, without the distraction of work, I'd really start to fall apart. I'd prepare and eat my dinner, but it wasn't enough. I'd eat the serving size of 21 pretzels, 31 pieces of cereal, and half a cup of yogurt afterward; it wasn't enough. I was miserable, I was frantically hungry, and I snapped. One night, I gorged myself on pretzels until my lips got chapped from the salt. I scooped through half of a hummus container in one sitting.

On two consecutive nights late in the week, I popped open a bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and ate six in a row (serving size: one Reese's cup). After just the second chocolate, I felt so disappointed in myself that I gave up and let it turn into an all-out binge. The sugar made me feel jittery and tired at the same time . . . plus bloated, plus ashamed. I was less focused, and I wasn't sleeping well. I was overeating - the exact thing I wanted to avoid - with foods I didn't usually binge on and feeling even guiltier than before because now I was "breaking the rules." I couldn't wait for the week to be over.

It Didn't Work - Here's Why

My hope was that setting these rules in place would help me stay on track and stop overeating. Safe to say that backfired, and for two different reasons. One: I wanted to eat beyond the portion size and break the rules simply because they were rules. Two: the servings just weren't enough for me. I was hungry, and that overrode all of my self-control.

After the unceremonious end of my experiment, as I tried to figure out why it had gone so badly, I turned to registered dietitian Kristin Kirkpatrick of the Cleveland Clinic's Wellness Institute for advice. First, she reminded me that the labeled serving sizes aren't necessarily recommendations. The purpose of the labels isn't to tell you how much you should eat, but to give an estimate of how much you (or the average American) actually are eating and to provide nutrition information for that amount. They were even recently updated to reflect current eating practices.

This might not sound like a big distinction, but looking back on my experiment after the fact, it's a pretty drastic shift of mindset. It's the difference between someone telling you what to do versus simply giving information about what most people are doing. I struggled with holding myself to serving-size restrictions, and that was my mistake: thinking that they were hard and fast rules in the first place.

Beyond that, it was a lesson: when it comes to diet, strict rules can backfire.

The second lesson? That ignoring your body has consequences. "Portion sizes are standards but don't fit a one-size-fits-all approach," Kristin told me. It's more important, she said, to rely on your hunger cues and eat until you're full. "Your actual hunger will always lead you in the right direction," she said. Refusing to listen to it worked against me in two ways. I'd eat my "correct" serving sizes during the day without ever getting full, which made me miserable and starving at night. That inevitably led to a binge - during which I'd continue to ignore the hunger cues telling me to stop.

Would I Recommend It?

Based on my experience and Kristin's expertise, I wouldn't advise anyone to eat based on serving-size recommendations alone, even to prevent as annoying a habit as overeating. That being said, I think there's value in knowing what those serving sizes are and seeing what they can reveal about your own eating habits.

Seeing what a serving size looks like can make you more cognizant of how much you're actually eating. I check in with myself more during a meal now. I can estimate when I've passed the serving size and ask myself if I'm still hungry. I don't guilt myself if I need more, but taking that pause helps me realize when I don't.

Kristin confirmed that visible portion sizes are a helpful way to realize how much you're eating. (Check out this guide for some handy portion-sizing tips.) If you're looking to beat overeating through portioning, she recommended using smaller kitchenware: nine-inch plates, plus smaller cups and bowls. A regular portion of brown rice looks skimpy on a huge plate, she says, but if you serve it on a smaller one, you might find it's just enough.

It's good to recognize serving sizes, if only to keep track of the amount you're eating and when you're full, but eating based on those portion sizes alone isn't the way to go. If you're looking to stop overeating, setting strict rules might just trigger more binges, like it did with me. Instead, it's about learning to trust your body and to listen when it's telling you what's enough and what's not.

Watch Wolfgang Puck Make an Award-Worthy Spread For Any Oscars Party - It's Completely Vegan!

Oscars night is a huge deal for every star nominated for an award, but it's also a big event for Wolfgang Puck. The celebrity chef is heading into his 25th year of cooking for the film industry's A-listers, and he stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to share some of the vegan dishes he'll be serving on Sunday. So, what's on the menu? Turns out wine and cheese certainly isn't the only thing you can serve at your own Oscars viewing party. Although there was definitely wine - we can thank Diane Keaton for that (she sipped her own wine brand).

First up is apple "sushi" rolls that Wolfgang made by putting an opal apple through an apple corer to get paper-thin sheets. He added crunchy fillings like celery and fennel and rolled each one up before slicing them into bite-size pieces to dip into dressing. Next, he put together a flavorful vegan pasta with a vibrant sauce of olive oil, garlic, spinach, crushed tomatoes, capers, stock, red pepper flakes for a little heat, and pesto on top for a pop of green. Ellen, who eats a mostly plant-based diet, approved.

Wolfgang also showed off a dessert spread complete with tons of vegan cookies and a gorgeous pavlova made with aquafaba (aka magical chickpea liquid) instead of egg whites. If you're toasting to the big night with your own group of friends, these ideas are easy enough to recreate. "All you have to do is make it for a thousand people and you're done," Wolfgang joked.

I Gave Up Soda For a Year, and It Changed My Life

Have you ever wondered just how bad soda is for your body? I didn't either for almost 27 years of my life. I was addicted to the sugary goodness. I would drink it without thought - with lunch, as a snack, with dinner, during movies. I'd consume so many sodas in a day that my doctor warned me it was getting to be hazardous to my health. I had tried to quit soda before, but always came back to it after a week off. But as I was about to turn 28, my body was giving me warning signs of its own that I needed to change my habits. I was always tired - unless fueled with caffeine. Food wouldn't taste good if I didn't have it with a soda. And I was always bloated and gassy, which doesn't help when you're trying to go out on dates. So two days before my 28th birthday, I decided to give up the drink for a year. Yep, 365 days without soda - would I be able to do it? I wasn't confident with myself, but I wanted to try. Here are the things that I learned.

It's not easy, but it is possible.

Giving up soda would not be something that would come easy for me. I was dependent on soda. I would drink at least two to three cans a day, sometimes more. The first few weeks were the worst. I would get really bad cravings and had to figure out ways to keep from drinking it. We have a fridge at work that is full of free soda - this was the worst because it was so readily available. It's like it was staring at me, tempting me to drink it every time I would need to go past the kitchen. So I stopped going past the kitchen. If I wasn't near it, I didn't have to fight as hard not to drink it. I would stock up on multiple bottles of water in the morning and avoid the kitchen at all costs.

The longer you go without it, the easier it gets.

One of my greatest accomplishments was making it one month without soda. It felt good because I knew I didn't NEED the drink in my life. When I started, I knew I had to find an alternative. You can't just cut it out cold turkey when you're used to having that much caffeine every day. I began to try different drinks; I switched to teas - iced tea, lemonade, green tea, and hot tea - any type of tea worked. It was how I still got flavor in my life. But after a while, I began to enjoy the tea. Unsweetened tea began to have a flavor, and I actually wanted to drink it. This led to me also wanting to drink more water.

It's not about a number on a scale, but your clothes will fit better.

Your clothes will start to fit better.

It's not about a number on a scale, but your clothes will fit better. They may even get so big that you have to go down a size or two. I went from a size 12/14 to a size 10/12. I had to invest in a belt, which, as time went on, I had to go from two holes to three to four. I now can buy medium shirts again instead of large and XL, and overall, I feel better and more confident.

Stress dreams are real, and they will happen.

I would often wake up in the middle of the night in a panic. I had such vivid dreams that I drank soda and I would wake up feeling like I had failed only to realize I was asleep. The dreams only lasted about six months, but they were intense. I'm not sure what caused these dreams, but I like to think it was because my brain was trying to acclimate to life without such high amounts of sugar and caffeine.

You will have urges to work out.

I can't begin to tell you how much I hate working out. It seems like a chore, I get bored very easily, and I honestly have no idea if I'm even doing the exercises correctly. But when I stopped drinking soda, I had to get my energy elsewhere because the sugar rushes were no longer there. I felt really sluggish and like my body wasn't being used, and I began to want to go on runs and move around and be active. I started taking classes because they seemed fun. The classes turned into a routine, and now I've even stepped up my game and started taking Muay Thai.

You will notice food begins to have more flavor and taste better, and you'll crave healthy food.

The amount of sugar I was consuming in soda would make everything taste bland unless it was coated in sugar. As time went on, I started to develop my sense of taste again. This has also given me cravings for healthier foods. I am not one to preach about a healthy lifestyle. I love pizza - it's my favorite food group - but I also found myself not wanting to eat it once a week along with burgers and fries. I started to crave salads and vegetables (my mom would be thrilled for this to have happened as a child). I popped open a cookbook and began experimenting with recipes and wanted to take more chances and reward my body for the great job it was doing.

You have to make the conscious decision every day to not drink it until it becomes a habit.

That's right. YOU have to actively think about not drinking soda and force yourself not to do it. If you aren't in it 100 percent, you will lapse and go back to it. I have now been soda-free for a little over two years and, honestly, don't even register it as an option anymore. I drink mostly water now, and if I need a little flavor in my life, I have an iced tea or lemonade. I even have milkshakes every now and then. You don't have to deprive yourself of things you love to be healthy; you just have to be aware of what is in certain things and how they are adversely affecting your body and health. Your body will thank you if you take care of it.

Whole30 vs. the Mediterranean Diet: What's the Difference Between These Trending Plans?

If you've recently committed to overhauling your eating habits - and maybe shedding a few pounds in the process - figuring out exactly which approach to take can be daunting. But it doesn't have to be that complicated. Here, dietitians share the differences between two of the most popular diets right now: Whole30 and the Mediterranean diet. Read on to learn if either of them is right for you.

What Sets Whole30 and the Mediterranean Diet Apart?

For starters, one is considered a lifestyle and the other a brief reset, Annessa Chumbley, RD, nutrition consultant for Premier Protein, told POPSUGAR. "The Mediterranean diet is inspired by the eating habits of traditional Mediterranean countries and includes lots of vegetables, fish, olive oil, whole grains, fruits, and legumes," she said. "Whole30, on the other hand, is meant as a reset for your body and all its systems, including your taste buds, gut health, energy levels, and sleep."

Whole30 works by eliminating foods that can cause inflammation and drain your energy, such as refined sugars, grains, dairy, and legumes. And while many people make adjustments to Whole30 so they can follow a similar plan after the month is through, adhering to its strict rules over the long term is extremely difficult and not recommended.

Both diets emphasize whole foods over processed goods, but there are distinct differences in what's allowed on each plan. Whole30 restricts legumes and can be heavier on meat, while legumes are a staple of the Mediterranean diet and proteins are more likely to include fish and chicken, Annessa explained. "There's no alcohol on Whole30 (not even for cooking), and on the Mediterranean diet red wine is a pillar," she said.

Do the Diets Have Anything in Common?

While what you eat matters on both Whole30 and the Mediterranean diet, neither plan requires calorie counting. "Because you're eating a lot of plants for fuel on both diets, quantity is not limited," Annessa said. The outcomes for each diet can also have similar effects depending on the person. "There's been evidence that the Mediterranean diet might lower the risk of cancer and heart disease and overall mortality rates," Vanessa Rissetto, RD, told POPSUGAR. Whole30 can have similar benefits, Annessa noted, including lowering cholesterol, improving heart health, and increasing energy levels.

Which One Should You Try?

There's no clear-cut answer for this, and it largely depends on your lifestyle and the likeliness of being able to stick to a restrictive eating plan like Whole30. For example, "a mother with four kids and a full-time job with no time for herself can't also be tasked with a restrictive diet that doesn't allow for flexibility," Vanessa said. It's important to take a look at what's on your plate (no pun intended) and determine if you'll see the most success on Whole30 or perhaps a more flexible, long-term approach like the Mediterranean diet, even if that means progress is slower to start.

Annessa agreed and said another option is to modify Whole30 based on your dietary needs. "If you know your body handles legumes well, then don't feel the need to eliminate them. This is not a cookie-cutter process, and each person is different," she said. But what Whole30 might be beneficial for is a taste bud reset, especially if your sugar cravings have gotten out of hand. "Getting off sugar will often lower your threshold of sweetness and put an end to the constant cravings," Annessa said.

This Cardio and Ab Workout Is Low-Impact and Intense, and It Will Get You Into Shape

Some days we have all the motivation in the world to train hard, and then our sore muscles remind us to chill out. That's what happened to me the other week. I was super sore from a week of solid training - it hurt to stretch my arms above head, and every muscle below my belly button was screaming at me.

I knew another leg day would be pointless, and I wasn't even going to consider doing another upper-body workout. Instead, I decided on cardio, but a "fun" type of cardio. I had two goals for the cardio workout: I wanted it to be quick, and I wanted it to be conditioning. Not going to lie, this workout is challenging (and feels a lot worse when you're sore), but you'll be happy you did it.

If you're a beginner, feel free to modify this workout as needed; I've included my suggestions for modifications. It shouldn't take more than 25 minutes to do, and you should be exhausted once it's done. Now, it's time to get your heart rate up!

The Cardio and Ab Workout

Equipment needed: You'll need a soft-shelled medicine ball - six to 10 pounds is a good starting point. You'll also need to be near a SkiErg Machine and an assault bike. If your gym doesn't have either, substitute the SkiErg with the row machine and the assault bike with the StairMaster.

Before starting the workout, make sure to warm up. Here's a dynamic warmup I like. Don't forget to do a few core-activating exercises before getting started as well. Beginners should complete two rounds, and intermediate/advanced levels should complete three rounds. Be sure to cool down after your workout.

  • SkiErg: 30 seconds for beginners; 45 seconds for those at an intermediate or advanced level
  • Seated knee tuck: 20 reps (beginners can do the dead bug exercise for 10 reps)
  • Side plank with hip dip: 12 reps each side (beginners can hold a side bridge or a side plank for 15 seconds)
  • Assault bike: beginners should burn six calories; intermediate/advanced levels should burn 10 calories
  • High knees: 20 reps for beginners; 30 reps for intermediate/advanced levels
  • Rotational medicine ball slam and toss: 10 reps each direction (beginners should do 10 reps of standard ball slams)

A Running Coach Walks Us Through How to Breathe While Running

Let's go on a run . . . or at least talk about it. It's good for improving cardiovascular health, toning your lower body, burning calories, and giving yourself some headspace. Some people pick it up later in life, while others have called the treadmill (or track) a companion since a young age. There are guidelines for improving your form, but when it comes to breathing right, how much do you really know? We spoke to RRCA-certified running coach Marni Wasserman about best practices that even an experienced runner will want to take note of.

Breathe Through Your Mouth

When asked if there's a proper way to breathe when you run, Marni, who also coaches at Mile High Run Club, told POPSUGAR, "I would say yes and no." Generally, you should breathe through your mouth because that lets you get the most air, she explained. "Also, if you're breathing hard through your nose, you may have a tendency to crunch the rest of your face muscles - your jaw, specifically, and you always want the jaw loose. When you're breathing through your mouth, your jaw has to open, has to be loose." Marni added, though, that breathing through your nose can be fine too if your run is "super easy" (in this case, you should breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth), but when you start "working hard," mouth breathing is the most efficient way to get oxygen.

It also depends on pace. Marni said that if you're going slower and nose breathing is more comfortable, stick with that. But for a fast-paced run like sprints, "most people are probably going to mouth breathe. If you breathe only through your nose while you're sprinting, then that's something to work on." She then offered this pro tip to combat dry mouth: apply chapstick before your run or use Run Gum to maintain saliva, though she noted that not everyone is a fan of the latter option. Lastly, make sure you're stopping for water as needed.

Marni said that weather conditions can affect your breathing as well, and you may want to use your nose when temperatures drop. "If it's really cold outside, it'll be harder to breathe because the cold air is harsher on your lungs," she explained. "Breathing through your nose can warm it up a bit, but again, then you're also not getting as much air as if you were breathing through your mouth. Running indoors is probably going to be warmer and therefore easier in that regard." (If you are one to stick it out in Winter, read this.)

Steady Your Breath

Some people recommend breathing "in for three, out for two," Marni said, but she always advises her clients to establish a steady breath rhythm, "whatever the count may be." It could, she offered, align with your footfall. And it's especially important to have a steady breath when the running gets tough because "it gives you something to think about, something to focus on, and it takes you out of your body." If you're new to running or coming back after a long time off, Marni wants you to know that you're probably going to get winded no matter what you're doing. "I'd say slow down. People just kind of want to go hard out of the gate, but slowing it down to establish that rhythm is good." Plus, breathing erratically can cause side stitches (sharp pains in your ribcage).

"Even do a run-walk if you have to," she added. "If you notice your breath is starting to get irregular or starting to pick up after, let's say, three minutes, then do three minutes of running and a minute walking to let it come back down, then build from there." If you can do that for a few weeks, "you're gonna find that you can start to go for longer." Also, if you're trying to go easy (jog) and you're breathing too hard (gasping for air), Marni said that "it may just be your fitness is down and you need to back off, or maybe it's a sign that you need to check in with your breath."

To strengthen the lungs, learn to breathe better, and "get that breath control," she likes to swim. "Swimming is awesome for cross-training because it forces you to be really conscious of your breath, and even if you're in good shape as a runner, you're going to get in that pool and it's going to be a superhumbling experience," she said. "You're holding your breath, you're breathing very specifically, but I find that it helps me a lot." It will also give you that endurance workout without the pounding, she noted. Other ways to cross-train to target different muscles that aren't activated when running include yoga and bodyweight exercises (like this 10-minute runner's workout).

Just . . . Breathe

One more thing: just make sure you're actually breathing. "It sounds super obvious," Marni admitted, "but sometimes people have a tendency to hold their breath." And that, well, isn't good. "When you start running and you start thinking about this stuff [aka, your breath], it's going to feel super weird," she said. "But if you're consistent with it, it's going to start happening as second nature." If you're new, take these tips with you and check out this guide to becoming a runner. If you're a pro who maybe already laced up your sneaks for a few miles today, hopefully you've learned a little something you didn't know before.

Build Muscle With This Upper-Body Workout That Doesn't Contain a Single Push-Up

There's always one exercise, (or three or four) that no matter how strong we get, is always challenging. Then there are the exercises we just can't stand. If push-ups are your kryptonite, but you still want strong arms, I created this upper-body circuit for you. You'll work your biceps, triceps, chest, and back without ever doing a single push-up.

And, before you get on me about a push-up free workout, let the record show that I have nothing against push-ups, and I think they're a great exercise. This workout was designed for those who are beginners and cannot do push-ups just yet, those who have wrist injuries, and those who want to expand their upper-body exercise repertoire. Now that we've cleared that up, it's time to get started.

The Workout

Before jumping into the circuit, warm up with exercises like jumping jacks and plank walkouts. As a refresher, a circuit means that you'll complete the designated reps of each of the exercises listed, and take little to no rest as you transition to the next exercise. Once you've done all the exercises to complete the circuit, take 90 seconds to two minutes of rest before starting your next round. Repeat this circuit for a total of four rounds.

  • Crab walks: 10 reps
  • Dumbbell bench press: 12 reps
  • Bent-over row: 12 reps
  • Banded assisted pull-ups: five reps for beginners, 10 reps (can be done without the band) for those who are more advanced
  • Bicep curl and overhead press: 12 reps

Don't forget to adequately cool down afterward.

Watch Out For These Signs That Someone on a Dating App Is Married or Taken

If you're single and browsing the dating app world, you're probably in the market for other single ladies and fellas out there to chat with online. You're most likely not interested in meeting people who are in committed relationships or are married when browsing nonaffair sites like Tinder or Bumble. Unfortunately, you never know who is really behind that profile. Earlier this year, Tinder crashed nationwide, and there was a surge in Ashley Madison by 20 percent with new member sign-ups in both the US and the UK. Why? Well, according to a 2015 survey of around 1,282 active Tinder users (at the time there were around 50 million people on Tinder), nearly 30 percent of Tinder users are married, while another 12 percent are in a relationship. Yikes. While this was a small sampling, and who really knows if people tell the truth in those kinds of surveys, it is a good reminder to keep your guard up when you're dating online. Don't fall for liars on Tinder and other dating apps - prepare yourself with these tips. Here are the red flags to look out for that someone you meet on a dating site is either married or taken.

This Couple Got a Second Chance at Their "First Look," and It Was Worth the Wait

Even though Solomon and Jourdan tied the knot over a year ago, they did not get the opportunity to take some stunning first-look photos that they were looking forward to. "Nothing went according to our game plan," said Jourdan, who wanted beautiful and romantic portraits of her husband seeing her in her wedding dress for the very first time. So the couple decided to take matters into their own hands and get some gorgeous wedding photos in their second year of marriage.

"When they reached out to me for some portraits, and after hearing their story, I suggested we go the extra step and re-create a first look and create new memories," said Elina Levy, the photographer who captured these amazing photos. "We arranged for a cake from the local bakery, a beautiful bouquet, and an intimate table setting."

While Solomon opted to wear his original suit from their wedding day, Jourdan wore a new white gown so that the experience of Solomon seeing her in a wedding dress for the first time would be authentic, resulting in heartfelt first-look photos.

This photo shoot took place on the sandy shores of Bling Pass Beach in Florida, which was the perfect backdrop for this breathtaking shoot. Make sure to see all the moving photos ahead!

The Bride Was the Belle of the Ball in This Beauty and the Beast-Themed Engagement Shoot

Lydia and Patrick celebrated their engagement by emulating Beauty and the Beast in this gorgeous themed photo shoot that took place at the Dayton Art Institute in Ohio. Photographer Sarah Babcock was there to capture these cute moments between the couple, and she said that the day was "a romantic cosplay Beauty and the Beast engagement session." Lydia wore a stunning golden gown with pleated detailing to channel her inner Belle, and it looked straight out of the Disney fairy tale. Patrick wore a royal blue tailcoat embellished with golden buttons and embroidery with matching pants and white knee-length socks.

The pair then swapped their costumes for matching baby-blue outfits to pose at a secondary outdoor location with an "And they lived happily ever after" sign to stick with the fairy-tale theme. Lydia even posed with some books, which was a nod toward Belle's love of reading in Beauty and the Beast. See the gorgeous photos from this fantastical engagement shoot ahead.

Annette Bening's Mysterious Role in Captain Marvel Has Been Revealed - Here's What You Should Know

After months of speculation, we finally have a better idea of what Annette Bening's character in Captain Marvel, Supreme Intelligence, is all about.

Now that the March 8 premiere of the '90s-set superhero film is nearly here and rumors about her character are at an all-time high, Bening finally opened up about her role opposite Brie Larson's Carol Danvers (aka the titular Captain Marvel) while chatting with Stephen Colbert on Thursday night, as well as showing off a clip of Supreme Intelligence in action. According to the 20th Century Women actress, the character is "a god-like entity" who was originally a supercomputer in the comics but now has a human counterpart.

"[She's] the leader of the Kree people, the artificial intelligence which consists of the greatest intellects of the Kree people for the last million years," she explained, before introducing the clip featuring her debriefing Captain Marvel about fighting the Skrulls. "She's about to go into battle, and I am preparing her."

The Kree are an alien race, of which Supreme Intelligence and Captain Marvel are both members, as well as Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Korath (Djimon Hounsou). The Skrulls are their enemies who have the ability to shapeshift in order to infiltrate planets by looking exactly like their inhabitants, then taking over without anyone realizing. In the film, the Skrulls are led by villain Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), who appears in both his human form and in some intense pale green prosthetics.

Still perplexed? Don't worry - according to Bening, "When the movie comes out, it'll be clear why it was somewhat confusing."

The Dirt: Watch the First Wild Trailer For Netflix's Mötley Crüe Biopic

Are you ready to rock? Because the first trailer for Netflix's Mötley Crüe biopic, The Dirt, has arrived, and the film looks like a wild ride.

The biopic, directed by Jeff Tremaine, is based on the rock band's 2001 autobiography, The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band. Douglas Booth, Iwan Rheon, Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly), and Daniel Webber star as the core four members of the band - Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Tommy Lee, and Vince Neil - as they go from a mismatched group of misfits playing small rock clubs in Hollywood, to becoming one of the most notorious rock 'n' roll groups in history. Judging from the trailer, watching their rise to international fame will be deeply entertaining.

The Dirt hits Netflix on March 22 and also stars Pete Davidson, Leven Rambin, and David Costabile.

Go See Robyn's Comeback Tour or Regret It Forever - It's Your Decision

Until last night, I'd never seen Robyn in concert before. After last night, I will see Robyn in concert again, as many times as I possibly can. The Swedish pop star returned to the stage on Feb. 22 for the first date on her world tour as part of the Red Bull Music Festival in Hollywood. And she was greeted by an overjoyed audience ready to be raptured up to the pop goddess's personal dance-music heaven.

Before Honey, it had been eight years since Robyn released an album. In the gap between, she suffered the kind of personal blows that can derail a career and a life: the death of one of her closest musical collaborators and the breakup of her long-term relationship. So, from the moment she became almost, sort of visible on the all-white, space-age stage of the Hollywood Palladium - concealed partly by a curtain of guazey fabric - the mood was triumphant. Did we mention she appeared in silver go-go boots and a dress festooned with ruby jeweled nipples? She did that.

Eminem Has 1 Thing to Say to Netflix About The Punisher's Cancellation: "YOU ARE BLOWING IT"

They say you learn something new every day, and in this case, I just learned that Eminem just might be The Punisher's No. 1 fan.

On Wednesday, the 46-year-old rapper hopped on Twitter to shame Netflix about the streaming platform's recent decision to cancel the gritty Marvel series, which starred The Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal in the title role. As usual, Em didn't mince words, writing, "DEAR @NETFLIX, REGARDING YOUR CANCELLATION OF THE PUNISHER, YOU ARE BLOWING IT!! SINCERELY, MARSHALL."

The Punisher was the last Marvel TV series that Netflix debuted, joining Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Defenders, Luke Cage, and Daredevil. They've all been canceled by Netflix (which didn't come as too much of a surprise, given the critical reception of all the shows' recent seasons), but producer Jeph Loeb has since hinted that the series could live again on Hulu now that Disney is in charge.

While we wait to see if Eminem's influence can revive The Punisher in any way, keep reading to see the rapper's hilarious tweet (as well as everyone's entertaining reactions to it).
