The Simple Thing I Started Doing on Sundays That Changed the Rest of My Mornings
Every morning sort of went down like this: I'd already be stressed out the second I woke up, and my entire shower time would be spent frantically thinking of my to-dos and errands for the week. The panic would continue as I got ready, as well as on my office commute. I was already setting myself up for a hectic start to my day, as you could imagine it didn't stop once I got to my desk. But once I began doing one very simple thing on my Sundays, the rest of my workweek changed drastically. At the end of every weekend, I sit down and plan my week out on paper, so that I'm ready to hit the ground running come Monday.
It probably sounds like the obvious thing to do, right? Totally, but once I actually committed to making it a habit, everything changed. I'm a huge advocate of using a physical planner to stay organized, but I've always filled things in day to day. Now, I take about 20 minutes on Sunday afternoon or evening to brainstorm story ideas for the week, fill in my calendar with plans and scheduled workout classes, and list out everything else I need to take care of (bills, errands, reminders, etc.). I always argue that writing things down versus adding to your online calendar (I do both) helps you remember them better. Seeing assignments, meetings, and plans spaced out in front of you also gives you a better sense temporally. For example, knowing that something's due on Wednesday doesn't give you the same urgency as seeing it due the day after tomorrow.
When Monday rolls around, my mornings are free to calmly get ready for my day now that a matrix-looking list isn't running through my head. My showers have also turned into a relaxing morning ritual with feel-good music, since I already have everything planned out. Overall, I feel so much more at ease before heading into the office. The key is really to force yourself to prep on that Sunday (and every Sunday!) to make your life significantly easier on the days to follow. Trust me, it's seriously life changing.
Have a Rave While You Bathe With This Oh-So-Extra Showerhead From Urban Outfitters
I cannot shower without music; it is simply not possible. I use songs as a way to zone out, soundtrack my singing, and time my showers: if I hit song five, it's time to get out. But, for me, shower time is a time to relax and escape, which is why I freaked out a little bit when I saw this LED Showerhead ($25). This takes showering to a whole new level. It's bright, flashing, and a full-on party every time you bathe. Whether you have a favorite color or are partial to the rainbow, you can now have a light show in your bathroom for a fraction of the price of concert tickets. Now, the only question is, what's on your shower playlist?

Anything that requires less time, money, and physical labor is a winner in my book. Thanks to the internet, buying a mattress is easier and more affordable than ever. On a recent search for the best one on Amazon, I was stunned to see that this Zinus Memory Foam 12-Inch Green Tea Mattress in King Size ($295) was not only such a good price, but its boasts over 25,000 reviews. As a frequent Amazon shopper, I can say from experience that it's one of the most reviewed items I've ever seen.
The mattress comes in twin, full, queen, king, and California king sizes. There's also four different thicknesses, ranging from six to 12 inches. It's infused with green tea extract and castor seed oil, which naturally helps keep away odor and bacteria. The best part: it comes in a box delivered right to your door. So, there's no stressful scheduled delivery times or attaching it to your car, just simply unwrap and wait 72 hours for the memory foam mattress to fully expand.

This Is the Only Lotion I've Ever Tried That Doesn't Make My Body Feel Greasy
I am obsessive about my skin care - at least, when it comes to my face. I'm diligent about taking off my makeup before bed and applying my daily serums, but if I'm honest, the rest of my body is a different story. For one, I like to work out in the morning, which means I like to shower in the morning. And normally, applying lotion means I need to sit for at least five minutes before I can put my clothes on. I have neither the time nor the patience for this, so more often than not, while my face looks healthy and glowing, my body could use some help.
One day, a fellow editor showed me this Lanolips Everywhere Multi Cream ($17). I took it home, and didn't give it much thought until I got out of the shower the next day. And, oh my goodness. This lotion is not sticky. Let me repeat: this lotion is not sticky. I can apply this, and by the time I'm finished with my (very quick) skincare routine, I'm ready to put my clothes on. Which means, come Summer, I'll have the softest skin ever, and for less than $20, you can, too.
Nothing to See Here, Just the Most Cutting-Edge Celebrity Hair Transformations of 2019
There's nothing more liberating than getting a fresh haircut, and these celebrities know that all too well. So far this year, celebrities have graced us with such hot hair looks that we can't stop saving them to every Pinterest board and Instagram folder we have. Charlize Theron snipped her hair the day of (!) the 2019 Oscars, showing us that the time is always right to take to the scissors. Gabrielle Union (literally) turned heads at the 2019 Vanity Fair afterparty with her cutting-edge pixie, and to say we were star-struck is an understatement. From red-hot hues to lengthy cuts, these celebs changed their locks and their looks with these tantalizing hair color and cut transformations.
As Coco Chanel once said, "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life," and she was exactly right.
Bella Hadid Went Back to Her Natural Hair Color, and We Forgot She's Not a Brunette
Bella Hadid is leaving the dark side. The model has been oscillating between dark brown and black hair for several years now - in fact, we had practically forgotten she wasn't always a brunette - but she recently dyed her hair a dirty blond shade similar to both her natural hair color and that of her sister Gigi Hadid.
Bella shared several photos of her lightened-up look from a modeling gig in Cappadocia, Turkey. She captioned the post, "Back to dirty blonde, back to my roots." Bella also implied photographer Mert Alas influenced her to dye her hair, presumably for whichever shoot they were working on at the time. Check out the photos ahead.
I Borrowed This $12 Face Lotion From My Boyfriend, and Now I Can't Live Without It
I'm Victoria Messina, and I fell victim to splurging on trendy, made-for-Instagram skincare products. Ideally, this would be the part where other millennials respond "Hi, Victoria" in unison while sitting in a circle gathered at a Trendy Skincare Packaging-aholics Anonymous meeting, but alas, that group unfortunately doesn't exist (not yet at least), and I'm just sitting here at my desk, prepared to spill the details on the lotion that saved me from overspending on beauty products simply because they're aesthetically pleasing.
About a year ago, I was blissfully obsessed with a daily facial serum by a certain popular brand I'll refrain from naming. It was super hydrating, the adorable bottle made my makeup collection look 10 times more chic, and my skin drank up the moisture every morning. The only problem? Said serum cost $28 for a mere 0.5 fluid ounces of product, which, as you can guess, ran out pretty quickly - along with the funds I was willing to dish out on such products. I could practically hear my budget-conscious wallet begging for mercy each time I applied the serum in the morning and repurchased it.
*Cue dramatic parting of the big red curtain* Enter: Cetaphil's Daily Hydrating Lotion With Hyaluronic Acid. I originally encouraged my boyfriend to test out this drugstore moisturizer because his Winter skin needed some serious hydration and he had no clue where to start with picking a brand. Plus, it's affordable, so if he decided that daily lotion wasn't his thing after all, he wouldn't be losing out on too much dough. About a week after he bought it (and barely used a drop of it), I gave the product a go myself, and holy sh*t, I was instantly hooked. It felt even more moisturizing than the serum I used before and absorbed into my skin even quicker.
As you might have guessed, I bought Cetaphil's (much larger container of) hyaluronic acid face lotion as soon as I finished the last drop of that pricey serum - for less than half the price - and haven't looked back since. If you're looking for a new facial moisturizer that's easy on the wallet, read on for more details about this one, and you just might be convinced to make the switch, too.

How to Choose a Pastel Hair Color Based on Your Skin's Undertone
Pastel hair color is all the rage at the moment, and rightly so - it's beautiful. But with so many hues ranging from iridescent to rose brown to champagne, it's hard to know where to start, particularly when it comes to deciding whether it will suit your skin tone, undertones, eye color, and so on. We firmly believe that you should get any hair color your heart desires, but if you're looking for a little guidance, we've got you covered.
We tapped Christel Lundqvist, founder of London's STIL Salon, to help guide you to the pastel hue of your dreams. She told POPSUGAR that when helping a client go pastel, she first looks at eye color and natural hair color. She then looks at the person's skin tone: pale, medium, or deep. Within those, she considers five different types of coloring: gold, olive, pink, cool neutral, and dark. Within that (hey, it's a process!), Lundqvist looks at two types of undertones: cool and warm.
Phew, that's a lot of color options. Keep reading to find out which hue will suit you best to give you the confidence to go forth and pastel-ify yourself.
Nope, These Aren't Art Supplies! Lip Smacker Just Teamed Up With Crayola
As kids, we loved coloring with every crayon in our Crayola set (64-packs were the epitome of our cool-art-kid aesthetic) while popping on our favorite strawberry Lip Smacker. Fast-forward to 2019, and our two favorite childhood brands are teaming up for a collaboration you'll flip for.
The new Lip Smacker Crayola collection features glosses and tinted lip balms that look just like the crayons and markers you love. The products include a Crayola Lip Balm Party Pack ($11) with eight fruity and colorful balms, a Crayola Lip Balm Trio ($6), and a Crayola Liquid Party Pack ($11) that contains five marker-shaped glosses. Each item is named after a real Crayola crayon or marker shade, and because it's Lip Smacker, you know they'll smell amazing.
It's not up for debate that these products are cuter than a first grader; however, the packaging is so convincing, we'd advise you to keep these away from your crayon-eating nephew (just kidding, guys, this is super safe for kids). Check out every hue of the rainbow ahead, and shop the collection at Target beginning in April.

Your iPhone Tracks Your Frequent Locations, So Alexa, Play "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell
The more I learn about the iPhone, the more I feel that it's capable of doing pretty much anything. It can help you track your sleep, get your life together with the help of its apps, and even acts as a mini portable scanner (I know, how is this even possible?!). This popular smartphone is nothing short of impressive, so you can only imagine my amazement when I only recently found out that it tracks your most frequent locations and logs them.
If you're like me and interested in finding out where you've been lately or where you spend a lot of your time, all you have to do is go into Settings on your iPhone, tap on Privacy, and tap Location Services. From here, scroll down to System Services, and then tap Significant Locations (it may read as "Frequent Locations" if you have an earlier iOS). It will then show you the places you've frequented recently - in my case it was a lot of grocery stores, such as Trader Joe's, a juice cafe, and my coworking space.
Of course, not everyone may want to have their most visited locations tracked on their phone. If you'd rather not know, there's an easy way to opt out of this feature. All you have to do is go to Significant Locations under System Services and make sure the green tab is swiped off to the left.
We're Giving Snaps For the Queer Eye Cast's Fun-Filled Night at the GLAAD Media Awards
The stars of Queer Eye - Tan France, Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness, Bobby Berk, and Antoni Porowski - were fierce and fabulous at the GLAAD Media Awards on Thursday night. The quintet attended the event, serving looks and good laughs as they honored media efforts to support the LGBTQ+ community. They posed alongside each other on the red carpet and even shared a few snapshots with other celebrities such as Jameela Jamil, Olivia Munn, and Meghan Trainor. Tan, Karamo, Jonathan, Bobby, and Antoni also took the stage to accept the award for outstanding reality program - a title they've earned since the show first turned viewers into puddles of tears when it dropped on Netflix in 2018.
Queer Eye's third season premiered in March, and it's just as emotional as the first two. Fans were introduced to some of the most incredible people with touching stories and inspirational transformations. The new season also brought us a newfound love for barbecue sauce and sparked a squirrel debate. So we'd say it's an outstanding reality program, indeed!
Rapper Nipsey Hussle Has Died at 33
Nipsey Hussle has died at age 33. The rapper passed away in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon after being shot outside of his clothing store, Marathon Clothing, TMZ first reported. Nipsey was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, and police say two other people were wounded by the burst of gunfire, according to the LA Times. On Sunday night, The LAPD tweeted that it is conducting an investigation to locate the suspect and anyone else involved. The hip-hop artist was nominated for a Grammy for best rap album in 2019 for his debut studio album, Victory Lap. He is survived by his two children and his longtime girlfriend, actress and model Lauren London.
Pete Davidson Tried (and Failed) to Keep It Together During This SNL Skit With Sandra Oh
You may think there's nothing funny about SAT test prep, but you obviously haven't sat in one of Sandra Oh's classes before. During the Killing Eve star's SNL hosting gig on March 30, Oh played a substitute teacher tasked with taking a group of high schoolers through some practice questions. Unfortunately, the students are in the mood to wax philosophical, and their dramatic monologues have nothing to do with the correct multiple choice answers.
This idea alone is worth a good chuckle, but once you spot Pete Davidson break character in the background of the sketch, you're bound to crack up too. Catch Pete's breaking point in the full sketch above - he tried so hard to hide the laughs!
John Cena Goes on a Romantic Date After Ex Nikki Bella Confirms Her New Relationship
It looks like John Cena is ready to jump back in the dating ring pool following his split from Nikki Bella! Less than a year after calling off their engagement, the 41-year-old WWE superstar was recently spotted out on a date with a brunette woman in Canada. While the woman's identity has yet to be revealed, the pair seemed to have no problem showing off PDA as they held hands and smiled for the cameras.
John and Nikki dated on and off for six years before eventually going their separate ways last July. Coincidentally, Nikki just confirmed her relationship with her former Dancing With the Stars partner, Artem Chigvintsev. Even though Nikki and John are no longer together, she did say it would "kill her" to see John with another woman. Hopefully she's doing OK!
Aww! Joseph Gordon-Levitt Remembers 10 Things I Hate About You, 20 Years Later
Can you believe it's been 20 years since 10 Things I Hate About You hit theaters? The 1999 teen rom-com, loosely based on Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew, celebrated its anniversary over the weekend, and it still holds a special place in my heart. I think about Heath Ledger's rendition of "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" at least once a week - I'm not exaggerating.
The film stars Julia Stiles, Larisa Oleynik, Gabrielle Union, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, David Krumholtz, and the late Ledger as high school leads and gave fans some of the most quotable lines in teen movie history. On Saturday, Levitt (who played Cameron James) shared a special message on Instagram to commemorate the movie's anniversary. "'10 Things I Hate About You' came out 20 years ago today," he wrote. "What a special Summer it was making that movie with such wonderful people." Aww! I hope he spent the day dancing on bleachers and faking French.
Michelle Obama's Book Is on Track to Become the Bestselling Memoir in History
According to Bloomberg, Michelle's recollections of her journey from Chicago to the White House also boosted Bertelsmann's total sales to about $20 billion - the highest it's been since 2007. The book, which received an advance of more than $60 million from Penguin Random House before its release, has continued to inspire readers, including her hubby, Barack!
This year, Barack is set to release a memoir of his own. And knowing how much of a power couple Barack and Michelle are, we're expecting another bestseller to hit shelves.
Blast From the Past! Miley Cyrus Sings "Best of Both Worlds" Like the 2000s Icon She Is
Miley Cyrus is really embracing the 13th anniversary of Hannah Montana, so let's all enjoy the blast from the past, shall we? Not only did Cyrus cut and color her hair to match her iconic character again (nope, that's not a wig), but she also went full-on Montana by blasting and singing along to her hit "Best of Both Worlds" in the car. Cyrus appeared to have the best time as she posted videos to her Instagram Stories and Twitter, and she flashed a huge smile while singing the catchy theme song. She also couldn't resist blaring Migos's "Hannah Montana" or sharing an adorable picture of the "new Hannah Montana" with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. See the hilarious videos ahead, and sorry in advance for getting the throwback song stuck in your head.
32 Times the Royal Family Broke Protocol and Packed on the PDA Anyway
While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren't shy about showing PDA in general, they aren't the only royal couple to kiss and cuddle for the cameras over the years. We've seen Harry's brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton, display rare PDA with subtle pecks, and his parents, Princess Diana and Prince Charles, also had a history of stealing celebratory kisses after a polo match.
Outside of sporting events, we've been able to see even more sweet PDA from the royals over the years, from high-profile wedding ceremonies - that Buckingham Palace balcony has sure seen some lip-locking - to random displays of affection around the world. There may be some official rules in place, but even the royals aren't immune from showing love every once in a while! Scroll through to see the royal couples who have given us a glimpse of their love for each other.
Yes, Daniel Webber Is Really Singing in The Dirt - but There's a Catch
In Netflix's new music biopic The Dirt, a quartet of up-and-coming performers tackle a huge challenge: portraying the notoriously controversial rock band Mötley Crüe. Some of the cast members came in with musical knowledge already: rapper Machine Gun Kelly tackled the role of drummer Tommy Lee, while Game of Thrones's Iwan Rheon (portraying guitarist Mick Mars) is a singer-songwriter with a 2015 album to his name. One cast member without the benefit of existing musical experience, though, was Daniel Webber, who plays lead singer Vince Neil. So, is it actually Webber's voice we hear in the movie? Yes - sort of.
According to Thrillist, the four lead actors underwent crash courses in music and performance so that they could more accurately portray the rockers.
"Daniel had a vocal coach, Douglas had a bass coach, and Iwan had a guitar guy who would come over and sit with him," says director Jeff Tremaine. "It was a month and a half of really intense training everyday. Not just learning the instruments, but working with a choreographer on moving like the guys."
Fortunately, the hard work paid off. When the real members of Mötley Crüe visited to see how their onscreen counterparts were doing, they were pretty impressed. Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee were serenaded by the actors, and they told Rolling Stone that Webber was a dead-ringer for the real Vince Neil.
"Me and Tommy are just sitting in these two chairs, and Daniel was singing right in front of us, and Tommy and me looked at each other. We're like, 'He is Vince,'" Sixx said. With that stamp of approval, Webber and his costars moved forward in performing the songs for the movie.
Although they did learn to play all the music in the film, what viewers actually hear on screen is a little more complicated. Tremaine explained to Thrillist that the actors did sing and play and that the film did record their performances. However, the final cut has a few more layers to it.
"They could play it . . . I'm not going to say that what you're hearing is them exactly playing it. We recorded them. We also got all the actual Mötley recordings. Some of it is re-records with other bands and some of it is actually Mötley Crüe that they're just performing over it. So it's a blend." Regardless of the exact nature of the soundtrack, it's pretty clear the movie's cast worked hard to master the music of the rock legends they play.
Sterling K. Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson Break Down THAT Fight on This Is Us
This Is Us fans went for a ride on an emotional roller coaster during Tuesday night's episode. Witnessing the beginning stages and important milestones in Randall and Beth Pearson's relationship is one thing, but seeing how it all mirrors their present-day struggle is a gut punch, and a knock to the pedestal we've put their relationship on. In the episode titled, "R & B," the characters fight over their careers and Beth constantly tabling her dreams to appease her husband's. Now, Beth is now ready to put herself first, and it's a shocking reality for both of them.
Following the episode, stars Sterling K. Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson break down the fight and what it means for the beloved couple. "It was fun to go back in the past and to see how the echoes and the reverberations of what's transpiring in the present were seeded throughout," Brown says. "There's a very big personality in Randall, whose enthusiasm often gets the best of him, and his wife has just gone along."
Whew. The duo also explains that the problems they're having as a couple are never "external," it's "two people who want to be there. They're either fighting to make it better or enjoying the peace of it working." Watch it above and then check out all the details you need to know going into the finale.
The Rule About Royals and Personal Social Media Accounts Actually Makes a Lot of Sense
In an ideal world, all of our favorite royal family members would have their own social media accounts so we could follow every minute of their private lives, but unfortunately, that's never going to happen. Officially, the family only uses three social media accounts, which includes Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram: @TheRoyalFamily (for all working members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth), @ClarenceHouse (for Prince Charles and Camilla), and @KensingtonRoyal (for Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle). We were all as heartbroken as Meghan Markle probably was when the duchess deactivated all of her personal accounts, but there's a good reason why the royals don't maintain their own pages: social media only opens royals up to unnecessary scrutiny.
When the former Suits star disappeared from Instagram back in January of 2018, fans began to question what the deal was with royals and personal social media accounts. According to Harry: Life, Loss, and Love author Katie Nicholl, Meghan wasn't actually forced to get rid of her personal social media accounts. Instead, she was probably just given a strong recommendation to do so, as the royal family is understandably concerned with maintaining their privacy. As Nicholl explained to In Style, Meghan's lifestyle blog, The Tig, was a big part of the concern. "When you write a blog such as The Tig, you do end up giving quite a lot of yourself away," she said. "You do end up inviting the cameras into your private life." The unspoken rule about social media isn't about controlling the royals - it's simply about attempting to control the public's perception of the royals' private lives.
For the most part, members of the British Royal Family rely on a social media manager to update their official royal profiles, with the feeds featuring news and announcements pertaining to the family. Though there have previously been rumors that Prince Harry had a private Instagram, he has publicly criticized the use of social media in the past. During a visit to Copenhagen in October of 2017, the prince spoke about the impact social media can have on a person's mental health. "People are spending far too much time online and it's like a mental running machine that they can't get off," he explained. Prince Harry's older brother, William, has also criticized excessive use of social media, saying at a gala hosted by The Children's Trust back in November of 2018, "There is a sense of being 'on call' 24/7 through social media . . . It can all take its toll."
The only royal who currently has an official, verified, public Instagram account is Princess Eugenie who - because she and her sister Princess Beatrice are not "working royals" - is exempted from the no-personal-social-media rule. You definitely won't find anything scandalous on her page, however - Eugenie uses her account to post cute throwbacks of herself and Beatrice, as well as some cute current pics that include her mother, Sarah Ferguson. Princess Beatrice prefers Twitter, and she tweets content similar to what her sister posts on Instagram.
The Funniest Part About This SNL Sketch Is Sandra Oh's Voice (and Can of Four Loko)
Sandra Oh made her Saturday Night Live hosting debut on March 30, and it's safe to say that she did not disappoint. We already knew that Oh is a talented actress, but during the show's "Future Self" sketch, we saw a rather, uh, different side of her. The skit centers around an unhappy man (Mikey Day) who looks into a magical mirror and talks to a future version of himself. He learns that his life does improve and he ends up finding a girlfriend (Oh). In comes Oh's character - with colorful hair worn in pigtails, a neon green bra, an arm cast, and baggy pants - holding a Four Loko and speaking in a rather jarring voice. If that sounds like the total opposite of the characters you're used to seeing Oh play, then that's because it is. But you know what? We kind of dig it.
Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathe Exemplified Excellence at the NAACP Image Awards
This Is Us's Randall and Beth Pearson could learn a thing or two from Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathe. The stunning couple stepped out for the 2019 NAACP Image Awards on Saturday night, and they absolutely glowed on the red carpet - and that was before Sterling's Black Panther win for outstanding ensemble cast in a motion picture!
Sterling and Ryan fell in love at Stanford University and married in June 2007. They are parents to two adorable sons, Andrew and Amaré, and frequently gush about their sweet family bond on the red carpet and on Instagram. It's pretty clear they're still smitten with each other!
Kenan Thompson Literally Can't Stop Moving and Grooving in This Musical SNL Sketch
Saturday Night Live's March 30 episode was chock-full of hilarious segments. No doubt, one of the standouts was Kenan Thompson's lively "Electric Shoes" sketch. The skit begins as a spoof of a PBS documentary, as it looks back on some of the pioneers in the blues genre including singer Jarvis Fillmore (Thompson). In the clip, Jarvis takes the stage to perform in a British pop music show and relishes in the spotlight a little too long. Just when you think he's done, he comes flying back in front of the camera to keep singing. The video also features Sandra Oh - who made her SNL hosting debut during the episode - and if you ever wanted to know what she looks like dancing around in a '60s-inspired ensemble, this is your chance to find out.
In Celebration of Liza Koshy's Return to YouTube, Let's Look at Her Amazing Career
After a year-long hiatus from YouTube, popular vlogger Liza Koshy has made her return to the video platform. On March 27, the personality dropped a music video titled "Dollar Store With Liza" (a reference to some of her earlier videos), in which she comically shops around stores where everything is a dollar or less. Considering how huge Liza was (and is) on YouTube, fans everywhere are rejoicing her homecoming. But in case you're wondering how she became so famous and why she's trending on Twitter, there's a whole history behind her success. Liza's ascent to fame is rather inspiring, so let's take a quick journey through her impressive career.
You Might Be Surprised at How Many Times Tommy Lee Has Been Married
On Netflix's The Dirt, viewers get a behind-the-music look at the early days of metal band Mötley Crüe, whose larger-than-life personalities bled through to their music as well as to their real lives. The band's drummer, Tommy Lee, has had some major ups and downs in his personal life, with multiple marriages in his past.
The movie doesn't actually touch on his relationship with first wife Elaine Starchuk. He dated her for a couple of years in the mid '80s, and their eventual marriage allegedly lasted for a grand total of seven days. Mark Hamill Will Voice Chucky in the Upcoming Child’s Play Remake - So Do You Wanna Play?
Everyone's favorite homicidal doll is ready for a play date! Thirty years after the release of Tom Holland's Child's Play in 1988, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has fast-tracked a remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter, MGM has tapped Polaroid filmmaker Lars Klevberg to direct the horror reboot with video game writer Tyler Burton Smith on board to handle the script.
Child's Play was the first of a seven-movie franchise that told the story of Chucky, a toy doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer. If you've seen the film, you no doubt remember the chills that shot down your spine when he first uttered his iconic phrase, "Hi, I'm Chucky. Wanna play?" Chucky then goes on a murderous rampage in an attempt to kill a single mom and her son so he can jump into the son's body before he becomes trapped inside the doll permanently. Obviously he fails, and the movies only get bloodier and more ridiculous with each entry. Though, honestly, the addition of Chucky's wife and kids is definitely an interesting twist to your regular killer doll series.
The new movie will be a true reboot with Star Wars actor Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky and Parks and Rec's Aubrey Plaza starring as single mom Karen Barclay with Gabriel Bateman as her son, Andy. Atlanta's Brian Tyree Henry will also be appearing as Detective Norris. To celebrate the updated edition of the horror flick, which began filming in Vancouver last Fall, Plaza shared the first poster back in November. Warning: it's just as creepy as expected.
If you've seen the original, then you'll no doubt recognize Chucky's ominous box. However, if you look closely, there are a few changes. For instance, the toy brand seems to have been changed from "Good Guys" to "Buddi." Also, it looks like there's a WiFi symbol above the "i" in Buddi, which leads us to think the internet will play a part in this version of Chucky's possession (on the side of the box, you can even see instructions about connecting Chucky to a tablet, remote, or laptop).
It producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith will also work on the project, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 21, 2019, which just so happens to be the same release date as another toy-related film. Because, of course.
No, You're Not the Only One Who's Crushing on Oscar From On My Block
Every now and then you come across a TV character who you know you're not supposed to be attracted to - they're rude, they're manipulative, they're dangerous, they're "the bad guy" - but you just can't help yourself. It's why you find Jamie Dornan's serial killer character in The Fall irresistible sometimes (it's OK! Just admit it!) and why you crush so hard on Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones despite his, um, sister problem. They're edgy! And handsome! And you think you can change them! Well, we have another addition to the problematic crushes list: On My Block's Oscar "Spooky" Diaz.
Netflix's coming-of-age comedy quickly became one of our favorites last year thanks to the diverse cast and season one's incredible soundtrack and truly shocking finale. Season two is just as great, with another selection of high-quality jams, emotional performances from the leads, and an answer to what happened to Olivia. And, as expected, the second season has only further softened our spot for Cesar's older brother, Oscar.
The character is the Santos gang leader in their South Central LA neighborhood who we meet in season one fresh out of a stint in prison. He has no problem forcing Cesar to join up, ordering him to skip school to make drug deals. Later he even hands Cesar a gun and tells him to take care of some business. But there's also a really sweet, protective side to Oscar that we see in season one's "Chapter 8." He makes it clear that although he's rough around the edges, his top priority has always been keeping his little brother alive.
*cue the slightly guilty swooning*
In season two, however, things between Cesar and Oscar are rockier than ever. Since Cesar was unable to follow through with his plan to take out Latrelle, Oscar disowns him, leaving Cesar homeless for much of the season. It's crushing to watch Oscar pick his allegiance to his gang over his own brother, but the show does an excellent job of explaining why that is, and making the audience feel empathy for both Cesar and Oscar. Of course, by the end of the second season, they reunite and pull off one hell of a stunt, once again solidifying our crush on Oscar.
*cue the slightly LESS guilty swooning*
If your not-so-secret Oscar obsession has you wondering about the actor who plays him, look no further than Julio Macias! To be totally honest, we did a double take when we saw his IRL photo. Without all the neck tattoos and Oscar's shaved head, Macias looks totally different (albeit still ridiculously attractive).

Before appearing in On My Block, he scored a part in the TV miniseries La Vida es Como el Cine as well as Game Shakers, Jane the Virgin, and a number of film shorts. Just because we're still waiting for confirmation that On My Block will return for season three (c'mon, Netflix, we all need more Oscar in our lives), that doesn't mean Macias has to be out of your life completely. You can see him next in the thriller The Last Boat to Alcatraz, check out his recent appearance in an episode of S.W.A.T., or catch up on his life via Instagram.

We Need to Discuss Ruby and Jasmine's Jaw-Dropping Dance Routine in On My Block Season 2
Warning: spoilers for On My Block season two below!
Something that I definitely did not expect the second season of On My Block to do was make me cry during a scene all about Jasmine. The bold and hilarious character, played to perfection by Jessica Marie Garcia, is so often cracking one-liners and sassing her friends that the emotional beats in the season's fourth episode, "Chapter Fourteen," took me by surprise. And you know what else took me by surprise? Her incredible dance routine with Ruby (Jason Genao).
The episode centers around the Valentine's Day dance at Monse, Jamal, Cesar, and Ruby's high school. The gang soon find themselves busy trying to figure out their plans for the big event. Monse and Cesar quickly pair off, while Jamal gets roped into acting as a hall monitor at the dance by his former football coach, who figured out that Jamal dug up the football field. As for Ruby? Well, despite putting on a brave face for his friends, he's still dealing with the stages of grief in the aftermath of Olivia's death in the season one finale. Fortunately, he has Jasmine on his side, since she's decided that the two of them are now best friends, whether Ruby wants to be or not.
She initially rounds up a number of girls in their school to audition to be Ruby's date for the dance, much to the disdain of Monse. Jasmine makes sure the contestants are there for the right reasons - "If anyone is here to finger Ruby's bullet wound, please leave now" - but in the end, Ruby decides that the only person he wants to take to the dance is Jasmine herself. Her reaction is truly adorable (blushing and taking a big puff of her inhaler) and instantly had me tearing up. Luckily the two of them were meant to be dates, because they show up in matching black and gold outfits and proceed to crush the event's annual dance competition.
Aided by the beats of Dillon Francis and Jarina De Marco's track "Look at That Butt", they bust out some coordinated, eyebrow-raising moves that include dropping it like it's hot, extreme ponytail whipping, and even a little motorboating (yes, motorboating). Oh, and they ALSO take home the grand prize of . . . drum roll, please . . . a $50 gift card to Chili's! (How can you not love Jasmine after she breathlessly exclaims, "Guys, guys, if we play our cards right, we can totally stretch this out into two dinners.")
Relive the now-iconic On My Block moment by listening to "Look at That Butt" ahead, and then keep scrolling to see the hilarious reaction the scene has earned from fans so far.

I KonMari'd My Apartment, and Here's What I Bought So That It Continues to Spark Joy For Years to Come
I came, I saw, I KonMari'd. Like it did for so many others, Marie Kondo's Netflix series Tidying Up sparked something in me to finally get organized in 2019. When her book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up first came out, I resisted the movement. "I'm really more of a more is more kind of gal," I thought at the time. Meanwhile, my small one-bedroom apartment that I share with my husband was slowly accumulating dusty piles of useless, well, crap in every nook and cranny. Closets were overflowing, bookshelves bending under pressure, floor space was becoming a precious commodity. Something had to change.
Enter: KonMari, 2019 edition. This time around, I was ready to embrace the magic, and honestly, it was life-changing. I followed Marie Kondo's steps in order, tackling each of her recommended categories on the weekends for the first two months of the year. I would make it my goal to finish a category in a weekend, including donating, selling, and trashing what I didn't want to keep by Sunday night so that I could start fresh the following weekend. As bag after bag of old-school papers, blurry photographs of scenery from a vacation we took in 1998, stained towels, broken kitchen utensils, unused hand-me-downs, ill-fitting clothing, and just plain garbage left our apartment, a literal weight was lifted off of me. I would do a happy dance every Sunday night as another category bit the dust. Now that my apartment was free of what didn't spark joy, it was time to make some strategic new purchases.
While it may seem counterintuitive, the process of KonMari-ing (or Spring cleaning) does involve purchasing new things along the way. Besides the obvious boxes and baskets, drawer organizers, and other storage and organizational products, clearing away the clutter causes you to reevaluate what's left and possibly replace that side table your parents gave you years ago that you never really liked or finally find some smarter space-saving solutions for art that's sat in your closet or clutter taking up valuable counter space in your kitchen.
Ahead, here are the organizers, furniture pieces, and other home products I bought to make sure my apartment continues to spark joy and stay organized for years to come.

7 Bathroom Updates That Increased the Value of My Home
After buying our condo three years ago, my husband and I knew we'd eventually have to redo the guest bathroom in our hallway. It had a wobbly shower insert, dated finishes, and an impractical vanity without much storage. I hated going in there. So after a couple years of saving - and avoiding the room - we decided to bite the bullet and take on a small remodel project.
A before photo of my bathroom.
An after photo of my bathroom.
Creating a bathroom that reflected my own style was one of the main goals of the project. But I also wanted to stay in budget and avoid quirky updates that would decrease the value of my home. After doing some research, I discovered where I could save - and where I should splurge.
Don't just take my word for it. I caught up with HGTV star Scott McGillivray to check my work. After talking to him, I now know which updates gave me the most bang for my buck. McGillivray is the host of Income Property and wrote How to Add Value to Your Home. According to him, "next to the kitchen, the bathroom is the most important room in the house when it comes to resale."
That doesn't mean you have to spend more to make more. There are specific updates in the bathroom that are worth the investment, and others areas where a little goes a long way. Based on McGillivray's expertise these were the seven changes that had the biggest impact on my home's value.
1. Change the mirror.
"My number one suggestion is to get rid of the frameless builder grade mirror over the vanity," says McGillivray. Check! I did just that. We found this modern mirror ($240) that came with the bonus of a built-in shelf to hold candles, a small vase, or guest toiletries. It also acts as a statement piece.
2. Choose affordable tile.
What's the best place to save when you're redoing your bathroom? Tile, says McGillivray. "There are so many great, inexpensive tile options out there. I don't know why anyone would blow their budget on high-end tile." The marble hexagon floor tile is one of my favorite details in my bathroom, but it didn't break the bank. We were dedicated to getting an affordable price and limited ourselves to looking at wholesale warehouses - not even entertaining more expensive options.
Can't help yourself? "If there's a really expensive version that you've fallen in love with use it as a feature somewhere, like over the vanity, and then surround it with a less expensive version," recommends McGillivray. He also has this advice for making less-expensive tile last: "Make sure you've got a good waterproofing system like Kerdi board underneath it. This will ensure that whatever tile you choose it will last as long as you live in the house."
3. Get rid of 1980s wall texture.
I was determined to rid myself of that orange-peel look on the bathroom walls. But I wondered, was the more modern clean look worth the expense? "Yes," McGillivray reassures. "If it looks dated it indicates that it might not be well taken care of, and it might put potential buyers off." It's the same with those classic blue and pink fixtures, he says. "Some people like the retro feel, but they can be a nightmare for resale value."
4. Opt for frameless glass shower doors.
"Two things that are seriously worth considering are frameless glass shower doors and heated floors," says McGillivray. "I wouldn't go so far as to say they always add value, but I try to include them whenever possible." While we didn't need heated floors in San Francisco, we did change out our aging frosted shower insert for glass doors and blue glass subway tile.
5. Increase storage.
I decided to chuck my existing vanity, which was an awkward height and had no shelves or drawers inside. I traded it for the GODMORGON / BRÅVIKEN model from Ikea, which has deep drawers and a decent amount of space around the sink.
A vanity with storage must always be considered, according to McGillivray. "Don't get me wrong, pedestal sinks are nice," he says. "But they're really only practical in small powder rooms. Get as big a vanity as the room can handle and make sure it's got plenty of storage space."
6. Mix high and low.
"I've never believed that you have to spend a ton of money to make a room look great and to get a good return on investment," McGillivray reassures. "Spend money and invest in high-quality items when it comes to the items you touch everyday - like faucets and hardware."
I'm happy to say I took that approach. As mentioned, I opted for the GODMORGON / BRÅVIKEN vanity, which cost $479 from Ikea. It looks remarkably like the modern high-end vanities that go for thousands of dollars. I paired this "low" item with high-end hardware. We went for sink and shower pieces from the European brand Grohe. Chances are that potential buyers will notice the quality brand name, if and when we resell.
7. Add non-permanent personality.
"When it comes to resale value, you always want to keep the major elements clean and simple. Stick with neutral colors," says McGillivray. But let's be honest, I wasn't selling my place tomorrow and wanted to have a little bit of fun. According to McGillivray, it's safe to personalize things like lighting, hardware, and accessories. That's what we did with our light from Cedar & Moss ($269) and print from Minted ($165).
"There's no particular accessory that adds value," McGillivray explains. "It's more about how they work together to make the space look fresh and updated." Admittedly, when it came to our accessories my husband and I didn't worry about matchy-matchy. We wanted accessories that had the same overall feel, without obsessing over whether the wood or metals matched. And here's the beauty: if the next buyer doesn't like those non-permanent details, they can always change them.
