Steven Spielberg's West Side Story Remake Adds Broadway and Dance Moms Stars to Its Cast
West Side Story has found its star-crossed lovers. Last year, it was announced that Ansel Elgort had been cast to portray Tony in Steven Spielberg's forthcoming adaptation of the classic musical, and Deadline recently revealed Maria will be portrayed by Rachel Zegler. The 17-year-old Colombian-American high school student was one of 30,000 hopefuls who participated in an online casting call, and her evidently stellar covers of "Tonight" and "I Feel Pretty" earned her the role.
Though Natalie Wood is famous for her impassioned portrayal of Maria in the original screen adaptation, the casting choice has since been met with criticism given that Wood was not Puerto Rican. In a statement shared with Variety, Zegler said she is "humbled by the opportunity to play a role that means so much to the Hispanic community."
If you haven't seen any iteration of the story on stage or the big screen, teenagers Tony and Maria are the protagonists of the tragic love story modeled after Romeo and Juliet. Tony is a former member of the American gang the Jets, which rivals the Puerto Rican gang the Sharks. Maria's older brother Bernardo is the leader of the Sharks, and thus begins the story's central dilemma. Tony was first portrayed by Larry Kert in the original 1957 musical and later by Richard Beymer in the 1961 film.
The cast for the upcoming adaptation is gradually coming together with Broadway actors also confirmed. David Alvarez will play Bernardo, Josh Andrés Rivera will play Maria's fiancé, Chino, and Ariana DeBose will step into the iconic role of Anita, previously portrayed by Rita Moreno. Oh, and speaking of the venerated actress, she'll be involved in the remake, too. Moreno will appear as Valentina, who is a "reconceived and expanded version of the character of Doc, the owner of the corner store in which Tony works." Moreno is also listed as an executive producer on the film.
Yep, Ed Sheeran Noticed That Nod to His Cameo in the Game of Thrones Premiere
There were plenty of Easter eggs in the Game of Thrones season eight premiere, but one of the more subtle references slipped past even the most eagle-eyed viewers. Remember when Ed Sheeran made a quick but memorable Game of Thrones cameo as one of the soldiers Arya comes across in the woods during the first episode of season seven? Well, in the season eight premiere, while Bronn is in bed with three women, one of them may have dropped a hint about the fate of Sheeran's character - and the singer noticed.
Bronn is, ahem, ready to go, but the women in bed with him are busy gossiping about some of the soldiers they know. At one point, a woman mentions "that boy Eddie," and another clarifies, "The ginger?" The first woman says, "That's him. Came back with his face burned right off. He's got no eyelids now." And then, of course, the important question is asked: "How do you sleep with no eyelids?"
It's a quick exchange, but fans immediately recognized the dialogue as a possible nod to the red-haired singer's character, and Sheeran himself posted a funny response on Instagram Stories. "Thanks @gameofthrones," he wrote, "I knew I was a survivor x."

Well, his character's a survivor for now, anyway, but TBD on how he'll fare once the battle with the White Walkers goes down and Cersei does who knows what with her army. Uhh, good luck, Ed!
Why the Three Heads of the Dragon Prophecy in Game of Thrones Is More Important Than Ever
Warning: the night is dark and full of spoilers - as is this article - so proceed with caution!
The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones premiered on April 14, and naturally, we have a lot of questions. Like, is Bronn going to kill Jaime and Tyrion? Are the ladies in King's Landing brothels always so delightfully gossipy? Did Jon Snow and Daenerys realize they were basically re-creating a scene in Aladdin? Oh, and what the HELL does Jon Snow's ability to ride a dragon mean for the rest of the series?!
Like we said - we have a lot of questions, but let's focus on Jon and his cool new car dragon for now.
The scene of Jon getting the OK from Rhaegal to climb aboard and ride off through the icy countryside is actually pretty adorable, since he clings to the dragon for dear life (and with none of the grace that Dany usually does). But as cute as the moment is, it feeds into an important, longstanding theory about how the Targaryens could reclaim the Iron Throne: the "Three Heads of the Dragon" theory.
It feeds into an important, longstanding theory about how the Targaryens could reclaim the Iron Throne.
During Daenerys's trippy journey through the House of the Undying, she has a vision of her late brother, Rhaegar (aka Jon Snow's real dad), stating that "the dragon has three heads." This three-headed dragon theme is reflected in the series over and over again throughout the series: Daenerys originally has three dragons before the Night King kills one in season seven; the Targaryen house sigil features a three-headed dragon; and Dany's ancestor Aegon Targaryen conquered Westeros alongside his two sisters, who were all mounted atop dragons. Diehard fans (and even author George R.R. Martin himself) have interpreted the prophecy to mean that there must be three riders for Dany's three dragons before she can win back the Iron Throne.
Although it's not official, it makes the most sense that Daenerys herself is one of these dragon riders - she's already ridden Drogon through battle, after all. As for the other two riders? Up until the Night King turned Viserion into a giant, ice-breathing wight, it was assumed that Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister would be the remaining two. It's been confirmed that Jon is actually of Targaryen lineage since his father is Rhaegar, and even if Tyrion isn't related to Jon and Dany, he has a proven connection with dragons since he was able to approach them in Meereen.
Obviously now that season eight has premiered, we know Jon is definitely one of the three riders. Daenerys also is. But is the Night King the prophesied third dragon rider? It certainly wouldn't seem like he'd be a positive force in helping the Targaryens claim the throne. Let's take a closer look at each potential rider in the prophecy, ahead.
Blast From the Past! The Fast and Furious Cast Have Changed a Lot Since Their First Red Carpet
Remember when the Fast and Furious cast was one big, happy family? Dwayne Johnson was "Uncle Hobbs" to Vin Diesel's kids, and all the guys got along. Ah, those were the good old days! Sadly, the franchise has been plagued by drama following a major rift between Dwayne and Vin, and we're still unsure if Dwayne will actually be in Fast 9 (we're really hoping he is). However, there is a bright side: three spinoffs are currently in the works! Dwayne, of course, has teamed up with Jason Statham for Hobbs and Shaw, while Vin recently announced plans for a female-led version. The third has yet to be revealed. Since we're still waiting for Fast 9 to drop, we're taking a walk down memory lane and looking back at the cast's red carpet evolution.
9 Songs That Perfectly Describe the Beautiful Complexities of Being in Your 20s
Your 20s can be a pretty weird stage in your life. You've technically entered adulthood, but you still don't feel all that prepared to deal with the realities of growing up (job hunting, paying bills, filing taxes - such concepts!). And your love life? That tends to become more complex, too. But the wonderful thing about being a 20-something-year-old is that you have so much room to make mistakes, learn from them, and figure out who you are. It's a nebulous phase in which many of your decisions somehow feel both life-changing and inconsequential. So, yes, it can be a difficult time in your life, but it can also be the most fun. To celebrate this beautifully complicated stage, check out some of the best songs about being in your 20s!
I've Watched This Billie Eilish "Bad Guy" Dance Routine 7 Times, and I'm Still in Complete Awe
Billie Eilish dropped her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, at the end of March, and it was only a matter of time before her hit "Bad Guy" inspired a dope dance video. On April 12, choreographer Nika Kljun posted a clip in which notable dancers - including Kaycee Rice, Sean Lew, Jade Chynoweth, and Michael Dameski - take the upbeat tune to the next level with high-energy moves and insane backbends. Nika's routine plays on the song's swift, carefree beat while also embracing the slowed-down rhythmic interludes, which is exactly the kind of choreography I'd imagine for a bop like that. Whew, the minds of creatives.
Marsai Martin on the Story Behind Little: "I Wanted to Make the Point to Just Be Yourself"
I can't tell you what I accomplished at the age of 14 (aside from worrying about being a freshman in high school), but I can tell you it certainly wasn't executive producing and starring in a major Hollywood movie based on my own idea. So it isn't an exaggeration to say that 14-year-old Marsai Martin is doing major things right now.
The Black-ish star has been steadily making grown woman moves since finding success starring in the ABC breakout series. She has her own production company, Genius Productions, which recently inked a deal with Universal Pictures that will allow them to work on a number of enterprises together. The first is an upcoming film titled StepMonster in which Martin will play a teenager adjusting to having a new stepmother. But before that, Martin hitched her star to the comedy Little, which also stars Regina Hall and Issa Rae.
Based on Martin's concept, Little is a modern reversal of the classic 1988 Tom Hanks-led comedy Big and follows horrible boss Jordan Saunders, played to perfection by both Hall and Martin. Jordan starts her day terrorizing everyone, including her long-suffering assistant, April (Rae). Jordan's reign of terror is cut short when she finally hassles the wrong person and wakes up in the body of her 13-year-old self (Martin). The film follows the classic formula with twists and turns unique to Martin's vision. Young Jordan has to deal with everyone treating her like a child again and the struggles that come along with adolescence - including relentless bullies. Even though she's been on the other side of the bullying for the last several years, it's still hurtful when it's at her expense, and the experience takes her on a journey of discovery and self-acceptance.
When I hopped on the phone with Martin, we chatted about her and Rae dancing to Mary J. Blige in the movie's bar scene, the cycle of bullying, and what her favorite part of playing such a "Boss B" is.
POPSUGAR: So how does it feel seeing your idea come to life in such a big way? Excuse the pun.
Marsai Martin: To be honest, it's crazy being part of something that is so big, just being the regular girl that I am. Being part of this amazing industry is so crazy, and I would love to create more things in it.
PS: Your work both on and off screen is so inspirational for a lot of women out there. I mean, you're an actress and producer, and have taken control of your career at such a young age. What would your next dream project be?
MM: Oh, I don't even know. There's so many in the pipeline that I want to get into, but I would definitely love to work with Rihanna. I love her so much, and I know she's getting into the acting situation now. So, I would like to work with her on something.
PS: I would definitely watch anything you do with Rihanna. Just so you know.
MM: Thank you [laughs].
PS: If you had to pick one theme or message for the audience to take away from Little, what would it be?
"If you just believe in yourself and embrace who you are, you will be accepted for who you are."
MM: Well, there are a lot of messages in the film that I want people to take in, but one of them is just about second chances. I mean, Jordan's second chance is an extreme case, but at the end of it, it was just finding her true self and going back to who she really is because she thought she had to change to be accepted. But that's not really the case - if you just believe in yourself and embrace who you are, you will be accepted for who you are.
PS: Amazing advice! One thing I really appreciated about the film was that it showed the cycle of bullying and how it can affect anyone, regardless of age. Why was that an important topic for you to explore?
MM: It was important for me in a lot of ways. I was bullied at one time, but not to that big of an extent [like Jordan]. I wanted this film to be relatable, and I know bullying is something that kids can relate to. I wanted to make the point to just be yourself.
PS: What was your favorite part of playing an adult in a child's body?
MM: Oh, there were so many parts that I liked that I won't be able to do for, like, four years. But one of my favorite parts was definitely the clothes! Those power suits were so bomb to put on. The first meeting where I saw them, I was like, "Oh yeah, this is gonna be dope." So it was definitely the clothes, the hair - everything was so cool.
PS: I know you were very involved in the process of making the film. Did you have a hand in the costume selection, creating any of the characters' personalities, or anything like that?
MM: Kinda, sort of. It was more like building the character and then having people help out with bringing them to life. With Jordan, I knew we wanted her to be the strong, powerful woman that she is, and I thought it should be seen through her hair, whether she's big or small. Same thing with her clothes; it just had to match her personality. So working with great people to actually make that happen was amazing.
PS: Your onscreen dynamic with Issa Rae is so great; you two were such a great duo on screen! What was your favorite scene to film with her?
MM: Oh, there's so many scenes that I love, but one of them was definitely the bar scene. That was fun, being on top of the bar dancing - even though it was literally 1 o'clock in the morning, and we shot till 6. Well, I didn't because I'm a minor, but it was a good time, even though we were sleepy. When you see the film, you could never tell! It was cool. [laughs]
PS: Not at all, you guys looked like you were having the time of your lives! What's a piece of advice you've been given that you want to pass on to women and girls trying to make their own dreams happen, like you have?
MM: Just to be yourself and to stay confident in who you are, in being your most authentic self.
"I wanted to make the point to just be yourself."
PS: I think that's really powerful, especially since you're so young - you've been yourself this entire time, and you made a movie happen! What is a really important scene to you that you're excited for people to see?
MM: There were so many, but probably the Winchella prep rally. It was a fun scene to shoot, so I think people will really feel the vibe. We're dancing, we're having a good time, and we put so many rehearsals in for it; it was lots of fun.
PS: Did you have a hand in choreographing that?
MM: Oh no, I did not choreograph any of that! [laughs] It was Sean Bankhead, he choreographed the whole thing; he did the performance with Luke [James, who plays Trevor, Jordan's beau in the film] and he's so cool. It was lots of fun working with him, but he did everything.
PS: Well, you guys looked amazing. It was really fun to watch.
MM: Thank you! [laughs]
Blue Ivy's Feature on Beyoncé's New Album Has Us Ready For Her Music Career to Take Off
Blue Ivy is walking in her mama's footsteps!
On April 17, Beyoncé blessed us all with a new Netflix documentary about her historic Coachella performance as well as a new album. The 40-song LP compiles live recordings from her festival set, including some bonus tracks. And one of those tracks features 7-year-old Blue Ivy belting "Lift Every Voice and Sing" - one of the most revered songs during the civil rights movement that is also known as the Black National Anthem.
Blue Ivy adorably lends her vocals to the tune, and it's clear that she's a star in the making. Not only does she include the same runs as Beyoncé, but she seems to enjoy singing as much as her mom. "I wanna do that again," she says on the track. "It feels good!"
Blue Ivy is no stranger to the music scene, either. In 2012, she became the youngest person ever to appear on a Billboard chart when she was featured in JAY-Z's "Glory." She was also in Beyoncé's "Daddy Lessons" in 2016 as well as the "Mi Gente" remix the following year. The girl is racking up song credits before middle school. Can you believe?
My heart is still bursting with joy after hearing Blue's latest bop. And I'm not the only one who's excited about her feature and evident career in music. Ahead, listen to her verse before reading some of the best (and most relatable) reactions to her singing!

Celebrate Your "I Dos" With the Best Honeymoon Destinations of 2019
It's official! Vows were exchanged, toasts were made, and your union was sealed with a kiss. Now that you and your partner are wed, it's time to celebrate with a well-deserved vacation with the love of your life. Planning the honeymoon can be even more exciting than planning the wedding, as it is 100 percent just about the two of you. Whether you're searching for exhilaration and adventure, luxury and grandeur, or total seclusion, a world of wonder awaits. Read on for the top honeymoon destinations of 2019 - which one will you choose?
Why the End of the Honeymoon Phase Is Actually the Best
Ah, the honeymoon phase. The name suggests it's the best part of a relationship, some sort of escape from reality to a happier, more magical place. People fight to hold onto it because they're afraid it will all be downhill from there, but that's not true at all! The best part of a good relationship is when it leaves the honeymoon phase and starts to really live, when you and your partner get to tackle the real world again but get to do it together this time. When you take your relationship beyond the bubble of the honeymoon phase, that's when it has the room to really flourish.
There's room for friendship again.
During the honeymoon phase, it's easy to prioritize your relationship over your friendships. A good, maturing relationship, though, doesn't make anyone choose between the two. As you branch out from the honeymoon phase, you can reconnect with your friends, and they can get to know your partner more. Getting out of the honeymoon phase means adding more love into your life.
And at the start of a relationship, sometimes it's important to spend a little extra time on romance, to see if this new person is really a good fit. Romance should never be left behind, but coming out of the honeymoon phase means deepening your friendship with your partner, and part of that is involving one another with each of your friend groups.
Being part of a team is really nice.
To some, the idea of being "teammates" in a relationship might not sound sexy, but the reality is that being teammates with your partner is incredibly reassuring. Even the most independent person is stronger with good support behind them. Being part of a team doesn't mean you sacrifice your independence, it means you gain a partner. Coming out of the honeymoon phase of a relationship involves building strength and trust in one another.
When Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt get married on Parks and Recreation, they say in their vows, "I love you and I like you." Sometimes we're so focused on finding romance that we forget about actually spending the rest of our lives with another person. If that's the case, you need to be sure you not only love them but also like them and can count on them.
You can finally let go of insecurities.
While the honeymoon phase may be full of butterflies and feel new and exciting, it can also come with a lot of insecurity. There's the worry that if you let your guard down, the person may not like what they see in the real you. It's important to fight through those insecurities and reveal yourself in the relationship so the two of you can begin to really get to know each other. Which is such an exciting part!
Depth in relationships, the kind you need for a lasting partnership, comes from knowing one another's good habits and bad habits. It's not about fixing one another - instead, you have someone to grow with, someone who probably reminds you to be kind to yourself, because the real you is pretty incredible.
Love doesn't just tolerate, it adores.
Getting to know someone on an emotional level means getting to know their flaws. We all have our flaws, but to love someone is to love all of them. And there's so much comfort that comes with not "keeping face" 24/7. If you can't be yourself with your partner, then it's not a real relationship.
Don't underestimate the importance of acceptance. Feeling accepted for who you are by your partner allows affection to get deeper. Being safe with one another is one of the most vital relationship needs we all have.
The honeymoon phase may seem like the best part of a relationship, but the best part is everything that comes after it. Intertwining your life with someone who is your friend, who empowers you, who sweeps you off your feet, and who knows that you're only human - just like them - is the most romantic thing you can do.
If You Love Adrenaline-Pumping Thrills Instead of Lazy Beach Days, These 15 Vacations Are For You
Sometimes when you travel, it's all about endless scoops of gelato, easy strolls through air-conditioned museums, and ultralazy pool days where double duty simply means soaking up the sun and a novel. Think epic hikes through the world's most extraterrestrial landscapes, swinging high above a rain forest abyss, camping out in the snow with a glittery Milky Way above you, or swimming among a school of floating jellyfish. Whether you're in the mood for a getaway in the humid tropics, dry desert, snowy landscapes, or lush forest, you'll surely find a destination that speaks to you and gets your adrenaline going on this list.
5 Crucial Things You Should Know About Your Partner Before Getting Married
Maybe you're months into a new relationship or have been together for years. Whatever the case, and wherever you are in your journey, there are some important questions to ask yourself and your partner if you see yourselves being together long-term. Are you planning to get married? If so, what are your reasons for getting married? What are your partner's reasons? Are you ready for a life of unwavering commitment? And do you have the skills and desire to push through the inevitably tough moments alongside all the joyous ones?
To answer those questions, you really need to know yourself and your partner inside and out. POPSUGAR spoke with several relationship experts - including matchmaker Patti Stanger, clinical psychologist Dr. Dara Bushman, and psychotherapist Jason Eric Ross - and put together a list of crucial things to know about your partner before getting engaged and married. It isn't an exhaustive list, but consider it a guidebook as you enter a new chapter in your lives (or at least think about entering it in the future).

This Mini Selfie Light Is a Must Have For Festival Season
There have been way too many times when I've tried to take a selfie with friends only to have it come out poorly because of bad lighting. Conveniently portable and small enough to carry around in your bag, it's the perfect accessory to have, especially during festival season. Gone are the days of carrying around oversize selfie lights with you everywhere or struggling to find the perfect lighting!
This True Crime App Definitely Isn't For the Faint of Heart - Here's How It Works
The Citizen app is both incredibly useful and incredibly frightening at times, and if you want to know more about what's going on in your neighborhood, you should definitely download it now. The app invites eyewitnesses (like yourself) to share information about crimes happening in real time to inform and warn other users.
Citizen calls its user base a "safety network," and its mission is simple: "to keep people safe and informed." According to the company, information shared by everyday people has already alerted others to evacuate burning buildings, helped a neighbor whose baby was locked in a hot car, and even kept school buses away from a nearby terrorist attack.
These examples of crises averted have been made possible with location-based push notifications. If you find yourself in a city where it's active and you have it downloaded, you can opt to receive alerts about dangerous happenings nearby, as reported by members of that community. Because of the user-generated nature of the information shared through the app, it's possible you may learn about a nearby crime in progress before police have been notified or had a chance to respond.
To go along with push alerts, the app has a live video feature, meaning someone at the scene of a crime can stream what's happening to the rest of the network. If multiple people are using the app to stream an incident in one location, users have the ability to watch the circumstances surrounding the event unfold from every angle captured.
For those understandably concerned about vetting the things that get shared on the app, all users have to create a username that will accompany anything they broadcast. Everyone who registers also has to enter a phone number, which the app says it uses "to verify accounts, block unruly users, and to make a safer experience" overall. While the app is open, a number shows up at the top of the screen next to the word "nearby," which represents the number of Citizen app users within a certain range of your location, based on the population density of the area that you're in.
There's also a chat feature built in to the app that allows users to interact with each other. "We believe everyone has the right to know what's happening inside their communities in real time, and that transparency can drive change for the better," the company's website reads. "Citizen users are empowering the city of the future, building new ways to bring people together, creating a safer world, and democratizing 911."
The Citizen app is currently operating in New York City, the San Francisco Bay area, Baltimore, and Los Angeles, but the company has said it plans to expand soon, so keep an eye out for your city.

Barefoot Just Released New Canned Wine Spritzers For Summer, Including a Pink Moscato!
It's canned wine o'clock somewhere, and Barefoot is ready with even more refreshing flavors. The popular wine company has added two new flavors to its lineup of canned wine spritzers: Pinot Grigio Spritzer and Pink Moscato Spritzer. The summery drinks come in cute yellow and pink cans, and they're perfect for packing up ahead of a picnic, bringing to the beach, or just sipping on the deck with friends on a nice day.
The crisp Pinot Grigio Spritzer has "flavors of pear and chamomile tea with a lingering lemon finish," according to a press release from Barefoot, and the Pink Moscato Spritzer is sweeter with "flavors of strawberry and peach with subtle honey notes." Barefoot first introduced its canned spritzers last year with equally tasty flavors including Red Sangria, Rosé, and Crisp White. Now that the two new options have joined the mix, there's something for everyone. You can find these cans in stores now for just $8 per four-pack. Canned wine is most definitely the new bottled wine, and we can't get enough!

How Long Can You Store Eggs? Longer Than You Think . . .
It happens to the best of us. You buy "fresh" eggs, only to find out that your expensive, organic, cage-free, brown eggs are past their sell-by date. But don't trash them just yet, because you can probably still use them! Raw, shelled eggs typically last three weeks after their sell-by date when properly refrigerated and four to five weeks after their packing date when properly refrigerated.
Boiling or cracking eggs shortens their shelf life, with boiled eggs lasting about a week. This is because eggshells, which are highly porous, have a thin coating of mineral oil that seals and protects the egg. Boiling them washes away this protective sealing, leaving the shell susceptible to bacterial contamination. Once you peel these eggs, you should eat them the same day. After cracking them, raw, whole eggs have to be eaten within two days. Egg whites stored on their own can last up to four days, but yolks have to be used within two days.
If your eggs are reaching the end of their shelf life and you just want to really be sure, you can always check the freshness with a water test. Just take a cold glass or bowl of water, and gently place the egg into the cup. If the egg sinks, it's fresh and safe to eat. If it floats, then the egg has spoiled.
If you need to significantly extend their shelf life, consider freezing your eggs. Frozen whole eggs, yolks, and whites can be frozen for up to a year. But be aware that egg yolks thicken when frozen. To slow this process, beat in either 1/8 teaspoon salt or 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar for every four yolks. While you may encounter some slight changes in texture and preparation, they will still be edible.
Now that you know how long you can store your eggs, check out these delicious egg recipes for breakfast, lunch, and - yes - even dinner.

If You Haven't Flipped Your Mattress in a Minute, You Need to Read This
Adulting is hard. If responsibilities ended with paying bills and reporting to work every day, that would be more than enough to deal with, but being a grown-up means you have to think about everything. Like, auto oil changes, finding a vacuum that tackles ridiculous levels of pet hair, and yes, flipping your mattress. And if you haven't flipped yours in a while - ahem, or ever - today is the day, my friends.
Your mattress should be flipped every six months in order to prevent uneven wear and to extend its overall life. This is especially true if you tend to sleep on the same side of the bed and one side gets more wear than the other. Not only does flipping your mattress prolong its life, it also helps you sleep more comfortably. You can even go one step further by rotating your mattress 180 degrees every three months (Fancy!).
There's one exception to the flipping rule, and that is if you have a pillow-top mattress - aka an extra section of cushy padding attached to the top. Such mattresses aren't made to be flipped, and you'd actually be pretty uncomfortable if you did so since the bottoms tend to be hard. Instead, rotate your mattress 180 degrees every three to four months. The good news is that since it does have that extra cushioning, it won't break down quite as quickly as a traditional mattress.
If your mattress is nearing the end of its life and is getting in the way of a good night's sleep, sometimes flipping it won't help a ton. To get the most (comfortable) use out of it that you can, consider a mattress topper. These range from around $50 for a simple, thin layer of cushion to several hundred dollars for a more robust option. They make a surprising difference.
Here's to happy dreaming on a freshly flipped, rotated, or topped mattress!

Repot Your Plants For Spring in 7 Easy Steps
Is there anything better than filling your space with earthy, green vibes in the form of beautiful blooms? Having plants around breathes new life into your home, and there's no shame in having multiple (we highly recommend having at least one in your bathroom!). But no matter where you keep your plants, keeping them healthy and alive is essential, and repotting them into a larger or different pot will help ensure they last as long as possible.
Before digging in (pun intended), you'll need the right tools. Make sure the pot into which you'll be planting is slightly larger than the original one. Also ensure the pot has a drainage hole so your plant doesn't drown in stagnant water. Other tools include a towel or drip cloth to put down if you're repotting indoors, gloves, potting mix, a trowel, and a knife. Once you have the tools required, follow these easy steps:
- Prep the pot. Grab your new pot, and place a porous material such as a coffee filter or a piece of burlap at the bottom of it to help water drain effectively and the potting soil to stay in the pot.
- Add some soil. Add a base layer of potting soil to the bottom of the pot so the plant has a place for its roots to grow and spread. Make sure your plant will have plenty of room to rest inside the new pot.
- Prewater the plant. Before adding the plant to the new pot, water it in its old pot or container so the dirt and root ball tighten together. Prewatering also helps ensure your potted plant is hydrated and healthy for its new pot debut.
- Remove the plant. To remove from the old container, gently tip the plant upside down and squeeze the sides of the container (if plastic) or prod the edges of the pot with the knife. The plant should eventually slide out.
- Pull the roots. Often, plants that have been sitting in a pot will have roots that collect closely together. Gently pull or cut the bottoms of the roots so they have room to spread out in the new pot.
- Center the plant. Place the plant in the center of the new pot. Surround it with potting soil on all sides, and add a thin layer of potting soil on top. Gently pat the plant down into the pot.
- Baby your plant. Water the plant one more time (repotting plants can dry them out easily), then keep an eye on it for the next few days. Repotted plants shouldn't be put in direct light right away and will likely require a bit more water for the first week or so after repotting.
No matter if you're a green thumb or certified plant killer, if you follow these easy steps, your plant will be off to a fabulous start!
Why Everyone Should Move Away From Their Home State at Least Once
I knew when I was growing up that I would never stay in my home state longer than I had to. It never felt like the place I was meant to be, and as much as I loved it, I knew I needed to leave. Leaving is one of the best things I've ever done for myself, and I truly think it's something everyone should experience if they can.
I grew up in a small town in Ohio that, while lovely, didn't have a lot to offer me for what I wanted for my future. I knew I wanted to be a journalist and I knew local newspapers weren't the right fit for me. I wanted the big-time in the big city, so I left for college in Florida (not a big city, but it was a step) and I only moved up from there. My mom told me when I left for school at 18 that she knew I would never come back. She wasn't wrong.
To me, I need to miss things to really appreciate them.
Since leaving at 18, I went to Florida for school, Illinois for a Summer internship, California for six years, and now New York City. Each state has added something to my life, whether it's work experience, life experience, or people. But here is the most important thing that leaving home has given me: a renewed appreciation for Ohio. I didn't like it there while I was growing up because my town was small and boring for a teenager. Now I'm excited every time I go back to visit, because it's small and quiet and a drastic change of pace from my busy New York lifestyle.
To me, I need to miss things to really appreciate them. Too much of something makes it lose its luster. There are times when I want to move to my favorite cities (London and Los Angeles) but I worry that if I live there I won't love them as much. There will probably come a day when I feel this way about New York and want someplace new, but so far I haven't reached that since this city has so much to offer.
Moving to a new place is terrifying. If you're moving somewhere you're not familiar with and where you don't know anyone, it can be a lot to face, which is why I feel like a lot of people don't move around much. It's easier to settle into what you know and, frankly, already love. Many of my friends I grew up with are comfortable and happy in Ohio, and I love that for them. But sometimes taking that leap into the unknown can lead to huge and amazing things. I wouldn't have met some of the best people I know if I hadn't left Ohio. I wouldn't have gotten to write amazing stories about those amazing people if I hadn't left Ohio.
It all comes from being willing to take a risk and try something new. Even if you don't leave your home state permanently, even leaving for a year or a couple months teaches you a lot. And even if you leave for a few months and realize you hate the place you've gone and all you want is to go back home, at least you tried it and learned that where you came from is where you want to be.
Now I feel grateful that I grew up in a small town that was easygoing and simple. I can appreciate that when I was 10 years old, I could run around the neighborhood with my friends after dark and play games and not worry about anything. And now I'm excited to go back and visit and will proudly tell everyone that I'm from Ohio. It may not be where I live now, but it'll always be home.
Greeting-Card Collectors, This $10 Organizer Will Be Your New Best Friend
As a greeting-card enthusiast, for a long time I found myself collecting cards and stationery sets for all sorts of occasions throughout the year - and then forgetting I had them or not being able to find the right one once an event rolled around. There were stacks of cards sitting in small trays in my office, a few tossed into my nightstand, and, without a system to keep them sorted, I ended up buying new ones whenever I attended a birthday party or a baby shower.
Then I came across the IRIS Greeting Card Organizer ($10), and I can't believe I lived without one for so long. What a game changer! The plastic box is built with greeting cards in mind, and it can fit up to 80 or more. Even better: six removable dividers are included, so you can label the tabs for different types of cards. Personally, mine are organized into a few general categories:
- Birthday cards
- Thank-you notes
- Wedding and baby cards
- Holiday cards
- Family cards (think: Mother's Day, Father's Day, and birthday cards geared toward relatives and spouses)
- Miscellaneous
Gone are the days when I'd be getting ready for an engagement party and panicking as I rustled through drawers looking for a card. Now I pick up cute cards as I see them (especially when they're on sale!), and as someone with a lot of long-distance friendships, it's been great to have a stash available to send whenever big birthdays or last-minute occasions pop up on the calendar.

Trader Joe's $4 Grapefruit Candle Is Back to Make Your Home Smell Like Citrus Heaven
There aren't too many things I love more than a scented candle, which is why I have a bone to pick with everyone who never let me know that there's a grapefruit-scented candle available at Trader Joe's. The candles were introduced in 2018 and are part of the grocery store's small selection of scented candles, which includes the Honeycrisp Apple candle that was sold last Fall.
According to a product description, each delicious-smelling candle is hand-poured into a tiny, convenient tin, and made from a coconut-soy wax blend with an added grapefruit scent. The candles are also paraben-free and made with lead-free cotton wicks that can burn consistently for up to 55 hours - just think of all the bubble baths you could take in that amount of time!
Trader Joe's grapefruit candles were available for a limited time last year, but according to a few recent posts on social media, they're available again in certain locations for just $4. Read ahead to see a few photos from users who've spotted them, and head to a Trader Joe's near you to grab one.
Wait a Minute - There's a Sandwich Shop in New Jersey That Replaces Bread With Giant Pickles
Pickle stans, have you heard? There's a restaurant in New Jersey that replaces the bread on its sandwiches with giant pickles - because clearly a simple pickle slice as a garnish isn't enough to satisfy your pickle-loving appetite. The restaurant in question, Elsie's, has gone viral in the last week after a video surfaced of the eatery building out its signature pickle sandwich, The Real Dill. It's basically just a bunch of assorted deli meats, cheese, and toppings piled in between two very large pickle slices, which sounds like a pretty ideal solution for when you're in the mood to enjoy a sandwich without the added carbs.
FYI, in case a pickle sandwich sounds like a bit much for you, Elsie's also serves pickle and cucumber roll-ups that are served like sushi and filled with meats and toppings like falafel, roast beef, roasted turkey, and ham. Read ahead to take a look at both dishes in all of their sour, crunchy goodness.
This $5 Toothbrush Holder From Amazon Should Not Bring Me as Much Joy as It Does
A toothbrush holder is one of those things I don't necessarily want to buy, but need to. I recently moved, and it was definitely time for a new one, but I wanted something minimal rather than a bulky holder with way more slots than I need. Enter: this cute and tiny toothbrush holder I found on Amazon. The Airmoon Mini Ceramics Handmade Toothbrush Holder Stand ($10 for a two-pack, or $5 each) is literally just a circular piece with a hollow center, and it measures less than two inches wide. A toothbrush rests perfectly upright in it and tilts to the side without tipping over. The small holder eliminates bathroom countertop clutter by providing only the necessary amount of material, and it also stays cleaner than ones I've used in the past.
While I usually consider toothbrush holders to be an eyesore, this one actually brings me joy when I look at it. I went with white to keep the look as clean as possible, but there are eight more colors to choose from. Because the design doesn't exactly scream "for toothbrushes only," you can also use these for pens at your desk! If you, like me, didn't think it was possible to get excited about something as mundane as a toothbrush holder, shop this very satisfying option ahead.
