We're Stuck on These Cactus Makeup Brushes From Tarte's Sugar Rush Line

Tarte has passed on the brand's penchant for making cute-as-hell makeup brushes (remember the wine glass iterations?) to its new sister brand, Sugar Rush. Along with the rest of the line, which features makeup and skincare products with good-for-you ingredients in mind, is one product you'll want to stick with.

The Tarte Sugar Rush Desert Dreamers Brush Set ($23) features three cacti-shaped brushes with pretty pink bristles. Not only is the set Instagram-worthy, but it's also super versatile. The smallest brush in the set can be used for both eye shadow and concealer, the angled brush is ideal for foundation and contouring, and the large brush is great for any powder complexion products. Each one is also cruelty-free and vegan, making them an ideal choice for animal-lovers.

Check them out ahead.

Wake and Bake - Try These Weed-Infused Spa Treatments For 4/20

With April 20 around the corner, it's time to get your plans in order. Instead of partaking in 4/20's established tradition, this year test out other forms of cannabis consumption. Today's beauty shelves are stocked with products that contain cannabidiol (CBD) oil, the non-psychoactive ingredient derived from hemp that helps manage anxiety. And now that 10 states and Washington DC have legalized recreational use of cannabis, it's clear that the stigma surrounding marijuana is starting to shift.

There's never been a better time to add a little weed to your wellness routine. Day spas all over the country are joining the ganja revolution and taking advantage of the plant's therapeutic benefits by using CBD oils in everything from facials to topical THC cremes during massages. Even though THC-infused lotions don't penetrate the skin and won't get you high, these treatments are only available in Colorado. Spas in states like California, Vermont, and New York are also taking things to a new level of relaxation by offering services with CBD oil.

Ahead, check out eight spa treatments you can try out this holidaze season.

Cara Delevingne Wore a Wig on Her Armpits, and Excuse Me, What?

Believe it or not, you can wear a wig just about anywhere. (Remember how merkins made their way down the runway during 2018's Fall/Winter Fashion Week?) In Cara Delevingne's newest film, she wore them in a place you'd never expect.

Delevingne posted a photo on Instagram of herself in head-to-toe, early '90s punk-rock glam with the caption, "I never thought I would need armpit hair again after getting laser . . . I was wrong. Introducing ARMPIT WIGS! Thoughts? 📸 by @cassblackbird @hersmellmovie @alexrossperry." The photo is from her latest movie, Her Smell, and though you can't see the armpit wigs clearly in her photo, we hope to catch glimpses in the biopic.

In the film's trailer, you can see Delevingne wearing some of the edgiest beauty looks inspired by the early '90s, including a choppy mullet and a rainbow pixie. See them ahead.

The 1 Sunscreen That Doesn't Leave a White Cast on Medium to Deep Skin Tones

As someone who has built sunscreen into her everyday beauty routine, there are three boxes that it must check off. First, it has to have an SPF that actually protects my skin. I try to pick products that have an SPF of at least 30 (Consumer Reports explains that an SPF of 30 blocks 97 percent of UVB rays and its efficacy only tapers after that). Second, the product has to wear well under makeup since I wear a light base almost every day. Lastly, it has to feel comfortable on my skin - with zero greasy residue.

The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen ($12) does all of those things and more. Upon first trying the lotion-gel hybrid, which has an SPF of 50, I was floored at how soothing it felt on my skin. Had someone taped up the label of the squeezable blue tube, I would have thought it was lightweight moisturizer - one that quenched my dry, irritated patches (we attribute that to the hydrating hyaluronic acid) and had an instant cooling effect (thanks to something called menthy lactate that is swirled into its formula). It wore smoothly all day and allowed me to layer my complexion makeup above it.

On days that I don't choose to wear makeup, this sunscreen is still a go-to. That's because - despite it looking like a uniform white goo - the sunscreen uses certain colorants, "which on darker skin tones will look more natural," cosmetic chemist Ginger King told us. Ahead, see photos of the sunscreen that I'll be using all Summer.

If You Can't Do Box Jumps, Try These 7 Leg-Strengthening Exercises Instead

Thinking of Going on Low-Estrogen Birth Control Pills? Here's What You Need to Know

With so many birth control options available for women, finding the right fit for you can be overwhelming. Should I go with an IUD? The implant? What about the dozens of birth control pills on the market? One form of birth control that has been gaining interest is low-estrogen birth control pills. With a lower dose of estrogen than other birth control pills, these pills are supposed to give you shorter periods and have fewer hormonal interactions.

But is this option the right fit for you? We spoke with Lakeisha Richardson, MD, board-certified ob-gyn and paid consultant of Allergan, who broke down what exactly low-estrogen birth control is and why it might be the right fit for you.

What Are Low-Estrogen Birth Control Pills?

Combination birth control pills are oral contraceptives that contain the hormones estrogen and progestin. Birth control pills on the market range in how much estrogen is in them; they can contain 10 micrograms (mcg), 20 mcg, 25 mcg, 30 mcg, 35 mcg, or 50 mcg of daily estrogen. Dr. Richardson said combination oral contraceptives are effective for pregnancy prevention when taken correctly and consistently; that is, taken at the same time every day and not in conjunction with certain medications, including some antibiotics. There are other complications that can interfere with birth control's effectiveness, including not storing the pill properly and having a digestive disorder.

Low-estrogen birth control pills are pills that contain 10-30 mcg of daily estrogen. One example is Lo Loestrin Fe, which has 10 mcg of daily estrogen. Dr. Richardson said Lo Loestrin Fe may give women shorter, lighter periods, some as little as two days.

What Are the Side Effects of Low-Estrogen Birth Control Pills?

Even though low-estrogen pills have less estrogen than other birth control pills on the market, the side effects are similar: nausea/vomiting, headaches, spotting or bleeding between menstrual periods, weight change, breast tenderness, acne, abdominal pain, anxiety, and depression. Like other higher-dose estrogen pills, low-estrogen birth control pills can also increase the risk of blood clots, stroke, and heart attack. It's best to talk to your doctor to assess your risk factors, especially if you smoke cigarettes and are over the age of 35, Dr. Richardson advised.

Who Are Low-Estrogen Birth Control Pills Good For?

It's not just the physical and potentially dangerous side effects associated with combination pills that can wreak havoc on your quality of life; there are other negative symptoms people may experience from hormonal birth control. Some of them include wild mood swings, a decreased sex drive, and heavy bleeding and cramping. Unfortunately, every person is different, so there's no way to predict how you will react to different types of hormonal birth control; it may take some trial-and-error.

"Estrogen levels affect women's bodies differently, so women should work through the option that is appropriate for them with their healthcare providers," Dr. Richardson advised. If you haven't had success on a higher-dose estrogen pill previously, a low-estrogen option may be a better fit. These pills could also be a good option for people who want shorter, lighter periods, but they may not be good for everyone; Dr. Richardson said to talk to your doctor about low-estrogen birth control if you are moderately obese.

What Should You Ask Your Doctor Before Getting on Low-Estrogen Birth Control?

OK, so you're interested in getting on low-estrogen birth control. But what comes next? You need to visit your doctor and have a thorough discussion before choosing the best contraception for you. According to Dr. Richardson, be sure you ask some key questions such as:

  • Do I have any risks factors that increase my risk of complications if I use an oral contraceptive for birth control?
  • What side effects should I expect? And what should I do if I do experience side effects?
  • Will oral contraceptives interfere with any of my current medications or medical illness?
  • How soon can I start an oral contraceptive?
  • Do I have to take it at the same time every day?
  • How effective are oral contraceptives?
  • Is there anything I should or should not do while taking oral contraceptives?
  • Is there anything I can do to make oral contraceptives more effective?

Bottom line: low-estrogen birth control, such as Lo Loestrin Fe, may be a good option for you, but you need to work that out with your doctor first. Bookmark this article and come equipped to your next doctor appointment with the right knowledge and to-the-point questions to ask.

You Can Find Self-Care Online Thanks to These 6 Instagram Accounts

Just because self-care is becoming more prevalent in today's society, that doesn't mean it's a trend. It's not like celery juice or the latest diet; it's a necessity for our well-being. Self-care looks different for everyone - my practices may include journaling and gym sessions, while yours might include face masks and meditation - but it all has the same goal: to avoid burnout, with symptoms and signs like physical and emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and inefficacy.

Self-care has many different components. According to one professional in the wellness sphere and speaker on traumatic stress, Olga Phoenix, MPA, self-care is made up of six parts: physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, personal, and professional. "Each dimension represents a part of our lives which requires our daily attention," she told POPSUGAR in a previous interview. To achieve happiness and manage stress, it's important to improve these aspect of our lives. For example, taking breaks at the office would fall under the professional dimension; reconnecting with old friends or compartmentalizing our goals would be personal.

We typically don't associate social media with self-care. After all, one way to find peace after a long day is to unplug. But what if we said you could practice taking care of yourself or find inspiration to do so, via Instagram of all things? Ahead, check out accounts that promote just that - one for each of these six self-care dimensions. If those aren't your style, here's a list of wellness apps to try. Let's focus on ourselves, shall we?

My Gym Changed the Name of Its Class, and It Completely Changed My Mindset

Ever since I can remember, the gym has always been an on-and-off relationship for me and one that I felt obligated to continue if I wanted to be "skinny."

The word "skinny" has haunted me throughout my life. It flashed into my head whenever I wanted to indulge in something considered "unhealthy" or when Summer rolled around and I had to try on bathing suits again. Regrettably, I even became part of the "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" generation. When I got to college, I pasted an index card with the phrase onto my Rubbermaid bin of snacks just in case I got a little too excited to eat the granola bars I had stashed under my bed.

I was by no means living at an extreme level to where I had an eating disorder, but I would be lying if I said I didn't constantly think about what I put into my mouth and the length of time on the elliptical required to burn it off.

When I moved to Hoboken, NJ, in 2017, I was looking for a way to get back into the gym, once again, because I wanted to be "skinny." I found a women's gym that just offered classes, one of which was named Next Stop Skinny. I was pumped: this was finally the class that was going to whip me into shape.

After a few months of seeing little change on the scale and even noticing some weight gain, I was disappointed and considered canceling my membership. I thought to myself, "This class literally has skinny in the name. Why isn't that happening for me?"

What I didn't consider was that I was getting stronger and my stamina was improving. At my first class I almost passed out and couldn't hold a plank for more than a few seconds. By the time I was considering quitting, I had upped the weights I used in class and no longer felt lightheaded afterward.

Six months later, the gym changed the class name from Next Stop Skinny to Next Stop Strong. Just like that, the next time I stepped into the class, my mindset changed. Skinny was no longer important. What mattered more was the strength I was building. I started to notice and even admire my biceps in the mirror and had even built up a little bit of a booty from all the squats and lunges I had done.

As a writer, I know that words are important and choosing which words to use is truly a craft. But, it wasn't until this one small word change that I really understood how deeply a mindset can hinge on a word or phrase, especially when it comes to body image.

Since the class name change, my relationship with the gym has become consistent and no longer has anything to do with my weight. Instead, working out has become a way to jump-start my morning or clear my mind after the day. It's become a way to be proud of what my body can accomplish instead of worrying that it's not enough. It's been years since I was living by a toxic Kate Moss skinny quote, but it still takes daily work to remember that labeling your body in a certain way can really mess with your day to day life. Now, I'm happy to walk into any gym class and prove how much stronger my body gets day in and day out.

Eating Avocado Can Help You Lose Weight (and Not Gain It), as Long as You Take This Advice

The myth that dietary fat is actually evil has finally been debunked, and that means healthy fats like avocados have gone decidedly mainstream. In fact, the green fruit is an essential part of whole-foods-based diets, including the Mediterranean diet and keto diet, in part because healthy fats help keep you fuller longer. But is it possible to have too much of a good thing and actually sabotage your weight-loss goals with this otherwise healthy food?

"Make no mistake about it, avocados are one of the most complete foods you can eat," Kris Sollid, RD, senior director of nutrition communications at the International Food Informational Council Foundation, told POPSUGAR. "But, even though avocados are packed with nutrients, they do have more calories than most other fruits and vegetables." By the numbers, one serving is equal to about a third of an avocado and contains around 76 calories. If you consume half an avocado, you're looking at about 114 calories, and if you go for a full avocado, roughly 227 calories.

Even though avocados are more calorie-dense than other fresh produce, and being mindful about avocado portions is important, "eating more calories than your body needs is what causes weight gain, regardless of the foods those calories come from," Kris said.

Related: Here's How Many Avocados (Er, Grams of Fat) You Can Eat and Still Lose Weight

Keeping your avocado habit in check is as easy as finding healthy ways to incorporate them into your diet, while making sure the portion sizes fit into your overall dietary goals. This is true for other sources of unsaturated fat as well, including seafood, walnuts, flaxseed, and canola and soybean oils, Kris explained. "The type of fat you eat matters more than the amount."

So, "use avocados in omelets for breakfast, on sandwiches for lunch, mash them into guac for a healthy snack, or pair them with seafood (they're especially good with crab cakes and tuna) for dinner," Kris suggested. At the end of the day, as long as you're mindful of your portions, eating avocados will probably help you shed a few pounds rather than gain them.

There are plenty of low-carb pancake mixes available on Amazon, and we've found eight options that'll satisfy those breakfast cravings.

This Self-Care Wheel Will Show You Which Areas of Your Life Need Improvement

When self-care comes to mind, many of us may associate the practice with baths, naps, and yoga. And while those are definitely a few ways to address your needs, self-care encompasses far more than that. In fact, according to the self-care wheel created by trauma prevention expert Olga Phoenix, self-care includes six parts that are vital to managing stress and achieving happiness and life satisfaction.

"I originally designed the self-care wheel for me, personally, as a tool to get to that seemingly unattainable place of life balance, meaning, and contentment," Olga told POPSUGAR. "It is an empowering, affirming, and positive tool, comprised of six dimensions: physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, personal, and professional. Each dimension represents a part of our lives which requires our daily attention."

Effectively practicing self-care requires making sure the needs of each of the wheel's dimensions are met with meaning, and evaluating which areas still need improvement. Check out a breakdown along with examples of how you can work on your mind, body, spirit, and beyond. And keep scrolling to see the wheel in full!

This Hangover Patch Works So Well, I Am Buying 1 For Everyone I Know

The best way to prevent a hangover is through moderation, but I'm not great at moderation. When a friend and fellow enthusiastic drinker recommended the Bytox Hangover Patch ($20 for five), I ordered a package from Amazon while midconversation - at a bar.

I should mention that I am 40 (as is my friend), and the older you get, the worse your hangovers get. In my case, hangovers manifest themselves in the form of a debilitating headache that no amount of ibuprofen can ease. Despite my best attempts to stay hydrated while consuming alcohol, the hangovers persist. At least they did, until I slapped on one of these patches.

A few years back, I tried the Flyby supplement, which also claims to prevent hangovers, but it didn't work for me. The Bytox patch, however, worked miraculously. Of course, everyone's biology is different, and this patch didn't work at all for my partner. Oh well, more patches for me!

Here's how it works, according to the Bytox website:

Alcohol is a diuretic that causes the depletion of beneficial nutrients and vitamins from the body, the most important of which is vitamin B12. One Bytox patch contains 1000mcgs of vitamin B12 and other B vitamins, which together make up the vitamin B complex. The vitamin B complex in conjunction with other supplements, such as the kind provided by Bytox, may help restore balance to the body and can assist it in replenishing depleted nutrients resulting from alcohol consumption.

Makes sense, right? The patch also comes with instructions. You apply it at least 45 minutes before consuming alcohol and leave it on at least eight hours after you've stopped consuming alcohol. You should also make sure to stay hydrated while using the patch.

I have worn this patch a few times, including twice when I really tested its powers. The first time, I was on vacation in Puerto Rico and spent the good part of the afternoon and evening consuming cocktails. The next day, I woke up headache-free and hardly worse for the wear. The second time, I was at a 40th birthday party, and while my partner looked pretty rough the next day, I felt pretty good. Maybe not like a million bucks, but at least like $500.

These patches aren't cheap, but I plan to keep a few on hand for nights I know will be particularly indulgent. I also plan on making Bytox Hangover Patches my go-to gift for all 40th birthday parties from now on. You can buy the Bytox Hangover Patch ($5 for five) on Amazon.

This Trick Makes Me Actually Want to Go to the Gym at 6 in the Morning

I was never a morning person. As a teenager, I notoriously slept past 10 a.m. on weekdays over the Summer and spent much of my college years staying up well past midnight and sleeping in as late as possible on the weekends. Even in my early 20s, I would hit my snooze button dozens of times until I absolutely had to get out of bed with just enough time to dry-shampoo my hair and make it out the door for work.

That all changed in the past few years when I realized I am happier and more productive when I wake up early in the morning, get in a workout before work, and go to bed early. I know, it even shocked me that I was able to make this change. Do I enjoy waking up around 5 a.m. when it's still dark outside? Not really. If it were up to me, I'd sleep until noon. But I know if I have an early start, I'll feel better as the day goes on.

Part of this strategy for me is signing up for 6 a.m. workout classes at my gym, so it forces me to get there on time. I'm not known for my punctuality, except when it comes to fitness classes. I always arrive early to grab my favorite spot and warm up before class starts. But on days I don't have a 6 a.m. class scheduled, I pretend like I do so I can make it to the gym early and get my day started on the right foot. But I have an extra trick that motivates me to work out so early.

The Trick I Use to Make It to the Gym at 6 a.m.

I'm a sucker for reality TV on Bravo. I'm not a huge reality TV connoisseur, but I enjoy my episodes of Vanderpump Rules and the Real Housewives (of every city). In order to force myself to make it to the gym in the morning, I save my favorite reality TV shows for when I'm on the cardio machines. I'll wait until the next day to watch my beloved Vanderpump Rules and Real Housewives on the Bravo app on my iPad while I'm stepping away on the stair climber or jogging on the treadmill. Not only does it make the workout go by faster, but I so look forward to catching up on my episodes that it makes me actually want to go to the gym so early.

Maybe it's your favorite reality TV show that you want to watch or a more high-brow show you've been binging on Netflix, but saving your favorite TV shows for the gym is a great way to stay motivated and kill two birds with one stone.

These Are the $22 Workout Leggings (With Pockets) Amazon Customers Can't Stop Buying

Everything is always better with pockets, right? That's why I've been eager to get my hands on a pair of workout leggings with a pocket for my phone. It's not easy finding the right pair, though. I wanted to make sure they're comfy, sturdy, and actually hold stuff. On a recent shop venture on Amazon hunting down its bestselling leggings, I discovered these IUGA High Waist Yoga Pants with Pockets ($14-$22) and was blown away by the reviews.

The leggings currently boast over 1,300 rave reviews, and it's easy to see why. They feature a handy side pocket for your phone, making it easy to listen to your favorite tunes while on the go. What makes this pair stand out from others though is the quality. The compression material is thick and holds both you and your items in place. So what are you waiting for? The leggings come in over 15 shades and even two-packs. Keep reading to shop a few of our favorites, and find your match.

This Lululemon Vest Has a Built-In Hydration System, and Outdoor Adventures Just Got Upgraded

One of the best things about Spring and Summer is finally getting outside and moving around without frozen toes and fingers. We're ready for all the hikes we've been dreaming about since last November and excited to start running outdoors again. No matter the adventure, we know we've got to stay hydrated, but let's be honest: who wants to lug around a heavy backpack on hikes and runs? Not us.

To help you power through your runs, or any other adventure, Lululemon created the Enlite Hydraffinity Vest ($178). "The inspiration came from pure insights on women not having a unique point of view within run vests, especially around form and function," Audrey Reilly, Lululemon senior vice president of women's design, told POPSUGAR.

"The Enlite Hydraffinity Vest was designed specifically for women's breast movement management needs," she explained. Because the vest can hold an 1.5 liter reservoir, we were expecting it to be bulky, but it has a close-to-the-body design that's supersleek.

The sizes range from small to large, and according to Audrey, "Because of the adjustable straps, they fit a range of cup and band sizes." This vest sounds and looks supercool and has us ready to request a day off to explore. Before you do that, don't forget to get a water bladder if you don't already have one! We recommend the Platypus Big Zip Water Reservoir ($35).

With Summer adventures fast approaching, the Hydraffinity Vest seems like a must have. It'll support you during every step, whether walking or running, and you don't have to worry about it weighing you down. Check out more pictures of the Hydraffinity Vest ahead.

If We're Being Blunt, This Haircut Is the Sharpest Look We've Seen - Check Out This Summer's Hot Hair Trend

Let's just cut to it: Blunt bob haircuts are the hottest Summer hair trend we've yet to see. Yes, bobs have made their comeback in recent years (insert last year's lob), but this fresh new take on the hair trend is so much edgier. With so-blunt-they-might-cut-you ends, this look leaves hair looking razor-sharp and oh-so-sophisticated. Even some of the top celebs like Lupita Nyong'o, Lucy Hale, Kristen Bell, Demi Lovato, and Charlize Theron, to name a few, have decided to chop their hair and take part in this sleek trend.

Check out the most cutting-edge looks (see what we did there?) and keep in mind that the blunt bob is dangerously attractive.

11 Waterproof Mascaras That Will Never Run, Flake, or Clump

A good waterproof mascara is exactly that - a mascara that won't budge when exposed to moisture. A great one takes it to the next level.

Those are the only ones that made it on this list. We've curated the best of the best, including updated versions of fan favorites, a French drugstore find that traveled overseas because it is just that good, and one hard-working formula that will never run - even when you are on one. One mascara is even laced with weed (but don't worry, it doesn't contain anything that will get you high). Ahead, see our picks for the best waterproof mascaras.

Not to Be Dramatic or Anything, but Coral-Colored Hair Is the Coolest Trend We've Ever Seen

In case you haven't heard, coral-colored hair is Summer's hottest new trend, and it's safe to say that it's the absolute prettiest thing we've ever seen. This peachy pink hue puts a twist on the typical coral color because it's brighter and warmer than the traditional shade (think watermelon tones). Whether you want to do a full head of color, an ombré splash, or cheeky highlights, this color will give your hair a new life worth living for.

Check out the most wow-worthy coral 'dos so far. We can promise that this hair trend will heat up your Summer in no time.

Thinking About Getting a REALLY Short Chop For Summer? Taylor Schilling Will Convince You

If you're looking for some short-hair inspiration, turn to Taylor Schilling. The actress recently got a cut that took her blond hair from short to shorter, and we think it's the shortest she's ever gone. Her blunt chop with wispy layers is courtesy of hairstylist Ryan Trygstad and rests just about an inch below her ears, and it looks impeccable with both a middle part and a side part.

The Orange Is the New Black star has been making her rounds in NYC and LA promoting her new comedy, Family, so there have been plenty of photo ops that show just how well she rocks this look. Short hair can be easier to maintain - especially during Summer - and an above-the-chin bob is quite a chic option. Check out photos of Schilling's new haircut ahead, and you might be bringing photos with you to the salon.

These Gradient Nail Looks Will Give You Hot, Steamy, Summer Vibes

There's one trend you've probably been seeing across the hands of your favorite celebrities: gradient manicures. The trend involves creating an ombré effect on your nail, fading from one color into the next, or, in many cases, into the natural nail.

The trend is super versatile and can involve just one shade of polish, or as many as can fit on your nail bed. While some lovers of the trend wear it on just a few nails, others opt to have it across all 10 fingers.

While the look is high-impact, the technique doesn't have to be difficult. If you'd like to try the trend out at home, simply grab a makeup sponge, a bowl of water, a paper plate, and your polish of choice. Pour your desired color onto the plate, and dip your wet sponge into the polish. Tap the sponge repeatedly on the area of your nail you'd like the pigment to be the most saturated, and as the color begins to lighten, move it to the bare area of your nail to create that faded effect. If you're using multiple colors, make sure to overlap them on your nail and blend out well with the wet sponge. Another easy way to achieve the trend is by painting your nails a solid color and adding the gradient effect using glitter.

Love the look, but not sure where to start? We've rounded up a multitude of manicure ideas so you can get started now. You can either attempt them at home or bookmark this page to show your manicurist at your next salon visit.

Knotless Box Braids Are All Over Instagram - Here's What They Are

Every few months or so, I can always count on a new hair or beauty trend to take over my Instagram feed for an indefinite period of time. At one point it was faux dreadlocks, then crochet braids, and now I haven't been able to scroll without seeing at least a handful of knotless box braids.

As you might have guessed already, knotless box braids are another variation of box braids. The difference is that, unlike box braids, these don't include the small knot that sits at the root of the scalp because of the addition of synthetic braiding hair. Instead, this hairstyle is created using a feed-in technique: braiding hair is added to a person's natural hair in small pieces, resulting in a plait that lies flat and isn't as heavy on the scalp. It's essentially a painless alternative for anyone looking to rock a head full of box braids without putting tension on their scalp and edges, so excuse me while I go ahead and book my appointment now.

Since box braids are one of many go-to protective styles for black women, I'm already anticipating seeing this style in more places outside of social media as Summer approaches. Read ahead to see more photos of knotless box braids.

Katy Perry's Pink-on-Pink Beauty Look Is the Stuff of Teenage Dreams

Trust us, if you haven't already caught feels for Katy Perry's daring beauty looks, you will now. The music artist and American Idol judge recently posted a photo of herself in monochromatic magenta hair and eye makeup. Her hair, which was courtesy of hairstylist Chris Appleton, was styled in loose waves, while her eye shadow was tapered to a sharp cat eye by makeup artist Michael Anthony.

Anthony posted a photo on his Instagram Story that featured his personal ColourPop Ooh La La! Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($12). The palette, which we believe may have been dropped on the floor based on the loose pigment splattered across its top, included pink tones that looked like the ones used to create Perry's look. The caption on Anthony's Story read, "@Chrisappleton1 you owe me a new @colourpopcosmetics palette," to which we say - can we get one, too?

See Perry's pink-on-pink look ahead.

This Mask Is the Drink of Water My Dry Lips Craved (and It's Only $5 on Amazon Prime)

Having just spent the weekend snowboarding in Whistler, Canada - which, if you had no idea, is still freezing this time of year - every part of my body hurt. The body part that I didn't expect to be achy when I returned home was my lips.

Having been exposed to the harsh air that comes with going 25 miles per hour down a mountain, my mouth was tender to the touch, so much so that smearing balms and salves over them only did so much. Fortunately, the Fast Beauty Co. Lip Service! Mask ($5) is a treatment I've been saving for a situation like this - when nothing, not even my favorite peppermint-infused lip balm, could do the trick.

I pulled the sleeve open and peeled the slippery white mask from its packaging. I laid it on my mouth. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had a slit across the middle that allowed me to talk . . . well, mumble. I kept it on for the suggested five minutes. In that time, my lips felt like they were being gently massaged, due to a slight tingle that was similar to that of a mild lip plumper. It made the tenderness of my lips feel like a distant memory. Once I peeled off the mask, my mouth felt softer, and the lines underneath my lower lip where my mouth was most chapped seemed to have disappeared.

The best part was that the mask itself was $5. For soft, moisturized lips, you can't beat that.

Alison Brie Dyed Her Hair For a New Role, and Wow, Is It Different

Alison Brie just dyed her hair blond for a role in a horror movie, and we hope both the new look and her character survive. Brie was cast as a lead character in her husband Dave Franco's The Rental. The film, which will be Franco's directorial debut, was the main reason Brie went for the lighter hue. She posted a photo of herself with the new hairstyle with the caption, "When your husband asks you to 'go blonde' for a role...you say yes," and tagged hairstylist Clarissa Anya.

Though we've seen Brie's hair styled in many different ways - like in curled, choppy layers for her role as Zoya the Destroya on GLOW and in long, glamorous waves for her character Trudy Campbell on Mad Men - we haven't seen her with this light of a hair color. Ahead, see Brie's new hair, along with some of her past looks.

You Can Get Halsey's Light-Catching Coachella Makeup at the Drugstore

Everything was blue . . . and green . . . and yellow on Halsey's eyelids. It wasn't surprising that the "Colors" singer had plenty of them brushed onto her lids this past weekend at Coachella, since many of her past beauty looks integrated bright hues. What was shocking, however, was that her prismatic eye makeup was created with drugstore products.

Makeup artist Denika Bedrossian mainly used Nyx Professional Makeup on Halsey. First, she created a gradient using the green and yellow shades of the Ultimate Shadow Palette ($18) from the inner corner of Halsey's eyelids to the center. She tapped on a blue shade at the outer corners of her lids, before using the brand's Dual Silicone Applicator ($12) to pick up and pack on glitter. She layered on sparkling creams Number 8 and Number 7 from the NYX Professional Makeup Glitter Goals Cream Pro Palette ($25) on top of the matte yellow and green colors, respectively, then added blue glitter from NYX Professional Makeup Glitter Goals Cream Quad Palette ($12) above the matte blue.

Bedrossian combed NYX Professional Makeup's Color Mascara in Blue ($4) through Halsey's lashes to finish the look. See the music artist's festival makeup, ahead.

Taylor Swift Is Wearing Summer's Go-To Haircut in Time Magazine

In case you missed it: Taylor Swift graced Time's 100 Most Influential People list for the third time and looked damn good doing it. The singer was photographed for the annual issue wearing what we've predicted will be Summer's most popular cut, the shag. The retro '70s style is already making a slow resurgence with stars like Sarah Hyland trying it out.

Hairstylist Devin Toth told POPSUGAR that the look is essentially your classic lob - now with bangs "It's so popular right now because it adds a different, more interesting kind of geometry around the face," he said.

It's clear that Swift is fulfilling her wildest dreams with the look, so while you ponder getting the cut for yourself, check out some of her best hair looks of all time.

Steven Spielberg's West Side Story Remake Adds Broadway and Dance Moms Stars to Its Cast

West Side Story has found its star-crossed lovers. Last year, it was announced that Ansel Elgort had been cast to portray Tony in Steven Spielberg's forthcoming adaptation of the classic musical, and Deadline recently revealed Maria will be portrayed by Rachel Zegler. The 17-year-old Colombian-American high school student was one of 30,000 hopefuls who participated in an online casting call, and her evidently stellar covers of "Tonight" and "I Feel Pretty" earned her the role.

Though Natalie Wood is famous for her impassioned portrayal of Maria in the original screen adaptation, the casting choice has since been met with criticism given that Wood was not Puerto Rican. In a statement shared with Variety, Zegler said she is "humbled by the opportunity to play a role that means so much to the Hispanic community."

If you haven't seen any iteration of the story on stage or the big screen, teenagers Tony and Maria are the protagonists of the tragic love story modeled after Romeo and Juliet. Tony is a former member of the American gang the Jets, which rivals the Puerto Rican gang the Sharks. Maria's older brother Bernardo is the leader of the Sharks, and thus begins the story's central dilemma. Tony was first portrayed by Larry Kert in the original 1957 musical and later by Richard Beymer in the 1961 film.

The cast for the upcoming adaptation is gradually coming together with Broadway actors also confirmed. David Alvarez will play Bernardo, Josh Andrés Rivera will play Maria's fiancé, Chino, and Ariana DeBose will step into the iconic role of Anita, previously portrayed by Rita Moreno. Oh, and speaking of the venerated actress, she'll be involved in the remake, too. Moreno will appear as Valentina, who is a "reconceived and expanded version of the character of Doc, the owner of the corner store in which Tony works." Moreno is also listed as an executive producer on the film.

Yep, Ed Sheeran Noticed That Nod to His Cameo in the Game of Thrones Premiere

There were plenty of Easter eggs in the Game of Thrones season eight premiere, but one of the more subtle references slipped past even the most eagle-eyed viewers. Remember when Ed Sheeran made a quick but memorable Game of Thrones cameo as one of the soldiers Arya comes across in the woods during the first episode of season seven? Well, in the season eight premiere, while Bronn is in bed with three women, one of them may have dropped a hint about the fate of Sheeran's character - and the singer noticed.

Bronn is, ahem, ready to go, but the women in bed with him are busy gossiping about some of the soldiers they know. At one point, a woman mentions "that boy Eddie," and another clarifies, "The ginger?" The first woman says, "That's him. Came back with his face burned right off. He's got no eyelids now." And then, of course, the important question is asked: "How do you sleep with no eyelids?"

It's a quick exchange, but fans immediately recognized the dialogue as a possible nod to the red-haired singer's character, and Sheeran himself posted a funny response on Instagram Stories. "Thanks @gameofthrones," he wrote, "I knew I was a survivor x."

Well, his character's a survivor for now, anyway, but TBD on how he'll fare once the battle with the White Walkers goes down and Cersei does who knows what with her army. Uhh, good luck, Ed!

Why the Three Heads of the Dragon Prophecy in Game of Thrones Is More Important Than Ever

Warning: the night is dark and full of spoilers - as is this article - so proceed with caution!

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones premiered on April 14, and naturally, we have a lot of questions. Like, is Bronn going to kill Jaime and Tyrion? Are the ladies in King's Landing brothels always so delightfully gossipy? Did Jon Snow and Daenerys realize they were basically re-creating a scene in Aladdin? Oh, and what the HELL does Jon Snow's ability to ride a dragon mean for the rest of the series?!

Like we said - we have a lot of questions, but let's focus on Jon and his cool new car dragon for now.

The scene of Jon getting the OK from Rhaegal to climb aboard and ride off through the icy countryside is actually pretty adorable, since he clings to the dragon for dear life (and with none of the grace that Dany usually does). But as cute as the moment is, it feeds into an important, longstanding theory about how the Targaryens could reclaim the Iron Throne: the "Three Heads of the Dragon" theory.

It feeds into an important, longstanding theory about how the Targaryens could reclaim the Iron Throne.

During Daenerys's trippy journey through the House of the Undying, she has a vision of her late brother, Rhaegar (aka Jon Snow's real dad), stating that "the dragon has three heads." This three-headed dragon theme is reflected in the series over and over again throughout the series: Daenerys originally has three dragons before the Night King kills one in season seven; the Targaryen house sigil features a three-headed dragon; and Dany's ancestor Aegon Targaryen conquered Westeros alongside his two sisters, who were all mounted atop dragons. Diehard fans (and even author George R.R. Martin himself) have interpreted the prophecy to mean that there must be three riders for Dany's three dragons before she can win back the Iron Throne.

Although it's not official, it makes the most sense that Daenerys herself is one of these dragon riders - she's already ridden Drogon through battle, after all. As for the other two riders? Up until the Night King turned Viserion into a giant, ice-breathing wight, it was assumed that Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister would be the remaining two. It's been confirmed that Jon is actually of Targaryen lineage since his father is Rhaegar, and even if Tyrion isn't related to Jon and Dany, he has a proven connection with dragons since he was able to approach them in Meereen.

Obviously now that season eight has premiered, we know Jon is definitely one of the three riders. Daenerys also is. But is the Night King the prophesied third dragon rider? It certainly wouldn't seem like he'd be a positive force in helping the Targaryens claim the throne. Let's take a closer look at each potential rider in the prophecy, ahead.

Blast From the Past! The Fast and Furious Cast Have Changed a Lot Since Their First Red Carpet

Remember when the Fast and Furious cast was one big, happy family? Dwayne Johnson was "Uncle Hobbs" to Vin Diesel's kids, and all the guys got along. Ah, those were the good old days! Sadly, the franchise has been plagued by drama following a major rift between Dwayne and Vin, and we're still unsure if Dwayne will actually be in Fast 9 (we're really hoping he is). However, there is a bright side: three spinoffs are currently in the works! Dwayne, of course, has teamed up with Jason Statham for Hobbs and Shaw, while Vin recently announced plans for a female-led version. The third has yet to be revealed. Since we're still waiting for Fast 9 to drop, we're taking a walk down memory lane and looking back at the cast's red carpet evolution.

9 Songs That Perfectly Describe the Beautiful Complexities of Being in Your 20s

Your 20s can be a pretty weird stage in your life. And your love life? That tends to become more complex, too. But the wonderful thing about being a 20-something-year-old is that you have so much room to make mistakes, learn from them, and figure out who you are. It's a nebulous phase in which many of your decisions somehow feel both life-changing and inconsequential. So, yes, it can be a difficult time in your life, but it can also be the most fun. To celebrate this beautifully complicated stage, check out some of the best songs about being in your 20s!
