Jessica Jones: What You Should Know About Terrifying Season 3 Villain Gregory Salinger

Spoilers for Jessica Jones season three below, FYI!
Prepare yourself, because the third and final season of Jessica Jones will leave you with a ton of highly important questions just a few episodes in. Like, why do hot, charming strangers never offer to make me hamburgers in bars? Why can't we all have a friend like Gillian? And was the budget for season three so low that Trish's vigilante "disguise" really had to be a bedazzled beanie from Forever 21 and a lame scarf? Of course, in all seriousness, we also need to discuss season three's incredibly dangerous new villain, Gregory Salinger.
We're first introduced to the character, played by Russian Doll's Jeremy Bobb, when he stabs Jessica in the abdomen outside of her apartment and escapes as she bleeds out in the hall. We later learn that Gregory was initially after Jessica's hookup, Erik (The Choice's Benjamin Walker), who was blackmailing Gregory because he'd deduced he was a killer of some kind (Erik's power is that he can sense if someone has done evil things just by being near them).
As Jessica soon comes to discover, though Greg Salinger is a normal human man, he's an extremely formidable foe. He also makes an appearance in some Marvel comics, though he and his TV counterpart are quite different. Let's break down who he is and why he's the perfect foe for Jessica.
Who Is Gregory Salinger in Jessica Jones?
In the TV series, not only is Greg hyperintelligent (he has medical and law degrees all over his apartment walls), but he's also extremely vengeful. He deems all superheroes "cheaters" and "frauds" who have never had to work for their success. Jessica in particular rubs him the wrong way, since she's an abrasive, unapologetic alcoholic, but more importantly, because she's a woman whose strength clearly threatens and terrifies him. "You were given every advantage," he tells Erik at one point after kidnapping him. "[You were] allowed to make mistake after mistake." He also chides Jessica for having "no discipline, just brute force."
"Salinger is a deeply scarred individual, and he just, by coincidence, crosses paths with Jessica," series creator and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg explained to Entertainment Weekly of Salinger's motivations. "For him, everything about her offends him, [specifically] the fact that she's got these powers not through hard work but through some other means . . . This is someone who has worked very hard himself. But he's a very twisted dude."
So, Greg Doesn't Have Any Superpowers?
Nope, he's just a regular - albeit highly trained and psychotic - dude. He has a special gun in the comics (which you'll read about ahead), but it's nowhere to be seen in the show.

Who Is Greg Salinger in the Comics?
In Marvel comics, Greg appears as a mercenary who is more commonly known as Foolkiller, but he's not the only one - three characters in the comics use that code name, including Salinger, Ross G. Everbest, and Kurt Gerhardt. Everbest, a religious fanatic of sorts, was the first, who was notable for his choice in weapon: a "purification" ray gun that disintegrated his victims. Next up was Salinger, who took over the mantle after he got out of prison and acquired Everbest's gun, which helped him carry out his mission of executing criminals. Salinger was more of a Punisher-like figure rather than a straight-up villain, gruesomely murdering only those who broke the law. He actually joined the Defenders for a time, before deciding they were too soft and destroying their headquarters. He later went on a killing spree and was institutionalized for his crimes.
Salinger mentored and passed on the mantle of Foolkiller to Kurt Gerhardt, a fellow criminal. Gerhardt took things too far, killing not only criminals but also celebrities and industrialists, before ending up locked in the Raft. With Gerhardt out of commission, Deadpool recruits Salinger to resume his Foolkiller persona on the Mercs for Money team. Salinger agrees and even earns a degree in Psychiatry so he can be Deadpool's therapist. S.H.I.E.L.D. also hired him to help counsel violent criminals, but it didn't take long before Salinger began wantonly killing those he saw as unable to be rehabilitated.
Does Greg Salinger Fight Jessica Jones in the Comics?
The short answer is no, the two never cross paths. However, he does fight Hellcat, since she's a member of the Defenders at that time (along with Doctor Strange, the Hulk, Valkyrie, and Nighthawk). As you know Hellcat is the alias of Trish Walker, who now has powers in the TV series. Without giving too much away, Trish and Salinger have a very violent interaction in the back half of the season that leaves both sides of the fight deeply scarred (though not necessarily physically).

Is There Any Way Jessica Can Defeat Greg Salinger?
As we see in season three, Greg is just as difficult to put away as Kilgrave but for very different reasons. This time around, Jessica has trouble proving that he's a serial killer in the eyes of the law, even with a train car full of body parts and a rescued kidnap victim; he might not be super, but he is thorough, and absolutely ruthless. If she can somehow turn his intellect against him, similar to a storyline in the comics that sees him about to use the purification ray gun on himself following a fight with Spider-Man, that might be the only way to get rid of him without destroying her own life in the process.

Avengers: Endgame Is Headed Back to Theaters With All-New Footage and More Surprises
Listen up, Marvel fans: if you were feeling bummed about Avengers: Endgame capping off the adventures of our original six Avengers with no postcredits scene, we've got some amazing news for you. According to ScreenRant, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that Endgame would be released back into theaters with new footage!
Before you get too excited, the new footage won't be added into the actual events of the film, so everything that happened within the film will remain the same. The new bits that will be added will be additional postcredit surprises, which audiences missed out on during the film's first run in theaters.
"Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie," Feige told ScreenRant. "If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there'll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises."
If you're wondering what's up with the rerelease, it's actually a pretty clever way for Endgame to maximize on its previous record-breaking run, while also giving fans a refresher before the July 5 premiere of the Marvel film truly meant to close out Phase 3, Spider-Man: Far From Home.
When Endgame originally premiered in late April, it debuted with an estimated $350 million domestically and $1.2 billion worldwide, becoming the first film to ever exceed the $1 billion mark in its first weekend. It's currently the second highest-grossing movie globally and domestically and could actually beat Avatar's all-time worldwide record of $2.788 billion with its rerelease on June 28.
Obviously, diehard Marvel fans will definitely see the film again - some have already seen it enough times for all of us, really. Who knows what the new footage could be? We could get to see more of our favorites in surprise cameos, maybe get a peek into Steve's life with Peggy, or even see the deleted scene between Tony and teenager Morgan. So many possibilities!
There's no information on which theaters will be showing the film's rerelease or how long it'll be in theaters, so we'll just have to wait and see (along with our trusty Depends) when Endgame heads back to theaters on June 28.

Ever since the Game of Thrones series finale aired back in May, many fans of the show have felt there were a handful of storylines we would've liked to see wrap up differently. And according to some recent comments from Lena Headey, it sounds like at least one Cersei storyline would have shifted had it not been for the writers' decision to scrap a certain scene from season seven. The actress, who played Cersei Lannister on the HBO drama, appeared at a comic book convention in Germany where she revealed that the show's penultimate season almost featured a scene that sees her character having a miscarriage.
"We shot a scene that never made it into season seven, which was where I lose the baby," she said. "And it was a really traumatic, great moment for Cersei, and it never made it in."
If you can recall, Cersei becomes pregnant with her twin brother's child during season seven, though she later gets together with Euron Greyjoy and tells him that he's the father. For that, her pregnancy became a large point of conversation from fans. While some people wondered what was going to happen once Euron found out that the child wasn't actually his heir, others wondered if she was ever really pregnant in the first place. Despite fans' confusion, that part of the story was never fully explored before Cersei's death, though it's still worth asking whether a scene about Cersei losing her baby might have changed her trajectory in the final season. Headey seems to think so.

I would hereby like to petition the MTV Movie & TV Awards to henceforth be called the MTV Lizzo Awards instead, since her phenomenal performance was easily the most exciting moment from the evening.
The annual show, which was filmed over the weekend but aired on Monday, June 17, had its fair share of glitzy attendees - Sandra Bullock! Dwayne Johnson! Elisabeth Moss! - but Lizzo immediately stood out. The wildly talented "Truth Hurts" singer rocked a neon green, feathered dress on the red carpet, then made her way inside to perform a spirited rendition of "Juice" from her latest album, Cuz I Love You.
The "baddest rapper, singer, and flutist" in the game (Tiffany Haddish's words, but also mine) began her performance dressed in choir robes but soon revealed that she had something a little more jaw-dropping in mind when she instructed her backup singers and dancers to strip down to street clothes and bop around the stage.

Toward the end of the second episode, which hit HBO on June 16, Madeline Martha Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon) reveals to her husband, Ed (Adam Scott), that she cheated on him with Joseph the theater production director. Needless to say, he isn't too thrilled about the bombshell, as he yells that their marriage is "done" before storming off. Later on, before the episode's credits start rolling, Madeline is seen sipping wine alone and reflecting on her infidelity while a season one soundtrack song titled "The Wonder of You" plays in the background.
The track, originally an Elvis Presley hit, was "sung" by a Hawaiian shirt-clad Ed during the Trivia Night ball in the season one finale ("sung" because it was actually a cover by Conor O'Brien of the Villagers, rather than by Adam Scott). It's quite the cruel full-circle moment - playing Ed's cover of the love song yet again just moments after his heart was metaphorically ripped out of his chest - wouldn't you agree? Pose's Second Season Just Started, and It's Already Been Renewed For a Third - It's That Good
Pose is officially coming back for a third season, so consider that another win for the beloved House of Evangelista. Following a second season debut on June 11, FX renewed the groundbreaking show about New York City ballroom culture in the late '80s and early '90s. The early renewal comes after said season two premiere brought in the highest viewership yet, with 1.2 million viewers, according to Deadline.
"Pose has elevated our culture and the TV landscape like few shows before it," said FX Chairman John Landgraf in a statement. Indya Moore, who portrays Angel Evangelista, celebrated the exciting news on Instagram and wrote, "This is so incredibly meaningful and timely. The world needs Pose. We need Pose. I need Pose."
When it first premiered in 2018, Pose made history as the scripted series with the most transgender actors appearing as series regulars ever. The show has also gone on to receive numerous accolades. Thankfully, there's yet another video of the adorable duo for the internet to obsess over because Denny's released a Father's Day commercial with a jibber-jabber conversation 2.0. Renata's husband, Gordon, may be heading to prison after losing all of their money; Jane is forced to explain assault to Ziggy after he finds out who his father is; Celeste becomes Mary Louise's number one suspect after revealing Perry's longtime abuse; Madeline's marriage to Ed is basically over after he finds out about her affair with Joseph the theater director; and Bonnie is quite obviously dealing with the effects of post traumatic stress disorder after pushing Perry down those stairs.

Surviving R. Kelly Creators Send Powerful Message at MTV Awards: "The World Is Listening Now"
Amid all the amazing performances and inspiring speeches at the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Monday night, one particular win gave us the most poignant speech of the entire award show.
Surviving R. Kelly, the Lifetime docuseries that shook the musical world by exposing the multiple sexual abuse allegations against Kelly, took home the Golden Popcorn for best documentary and beat out several other documentaries - including At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal, RBJ, Minding the Gap, and McQueen. Brie Miranda Bryant (senior vice president of unscripted development and programming for Lifetime) accepted the award surrounded by several of Kelly's survivors and moved the audience to tears with an incredibly powerful speech.
"This isn't just a trophy to us. It speaks to the cultural impact that it generated from this documentary," Bryant said. "Survivors walked through the fire and stood again to tell the story . . . journalists, activists, bloggers, tweeters who continued to say the name of these survivors, these parents, helped to tell this story . . . thank you, especially to those individuals who never wavered despite how daunting this journey has been."
