Richard Madden Missed His Own Graduation, But Returned to Become Doctor Madden 12 Years Later
Imagine turning up to your graduation, and finding that you're sharing your special day with a Hollywood star. That's what happened to graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, who found themselves shoulder-to-shoulder with Bodyguard star Richard Madden, who picked up an honorary doctorate of drama during the institution's Summer graduation ceremony. Luckily, these students are no stranger to the spotlight: the conservatoire specializes in performing arts education, so it's likely some of these graduates will be sharing the screen with Richard in the future. The Golden Globe winner originally graduated from the conservatoire in 2007 with a BA in acting, but missed his own graduation. So it was particularly moving to see him return and finally don his robes to officially become Doctor Richard Madden, complete with an inspirational speech about his journey "from Elderslie to LA." Keep reading to see the sweet photos from the day, and to watch Richard receive this special honor for yourself.
You Can Still Drink Smoothies on a Low-Carb Diet, but Follow This Dietitian-Approved Formula
Bad news if you're trying to cut carbs: a smoothie from your local shop could cost you 75 grams of carbs or more per serving. Considering that most low-carb plans require you to eat fewer than 100 grams per day, that one drink could nearly wipe out your daily budget.
"Many smoothie spots will add honey, agave, maple syrup, dates, multiple types of fruit, and fruit juices, which can drive the overall sugar content sky high," Mary Claire Shurina, MS, RD, LD, an acute care dietitian in Atlanta, GA, told POPSUGAR.
The good news? You can easily build a delicious, low-carb smoothie at home, where you have more control over what goes in it. "I always recommend incorporating one to two fruits, a source of protein, and a healthy fat," Mary Claire said. This combination of carbohydrates, protein, and fat will "prevent blood sugar spikes that ultimately lead to energy crashes later in the day," she explained. Keeping the fruit content low and not adding sweeteners will keep the carb count down, too.
To cover the protein portion of your smoothie, blend in your favorite (unsweetened) protein powder or Greek yogurt. For a dose of healthy fats, a spoonful of nut butter or half an avocado should do. When it comes to fruits, "berries offer more fiber and less sugar than other fruits, making them great choices," Mary Claire said. (For reference, a half cup of blueberries has 11 grams of carbs, while a medium banana has 27 grams.) Focus on striking that balance, and you could have a smoothie every day while still staying on track with your goals.
There's a Reason Theater Fans Will Recognize This Actress in Stranger Things - She Was a Broadway Star
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things!
Ah, young love. Amongst all the thrills, Stranger Things doesn't shy away from its young romances, from sweet young lovebirds Mike and El to longtime love interests Jonathan and Nancy. But in the third season, an unexpected love blossoms: awkward Dustin finally gets a girlfriend, Suzie, and is able to prove that she's real at exactly the right time - by singing a duet over the radio with her! Suzie made a big impact in her short screen time, so here's what you need to know about the talented actress who plays her!
Sixteen-year-old Gabriella Pizzolo is new to Stranger Things and new to the Netflix family, but she's already got several credits on her young résumé. As you might have guessed from her hilariously awesome singing duet with Gaten Matarazzo's Dustin, she's got a musical background, starring in lead roles in two of the buzziest musicals of the past decade. From December 2013 to September 2014, she made her Broadway debut as one of the four young actresses rotating in the lead role of Matilda the Musical. Then, from March 2015 to September 2016, she was in the Broadway company of Fun Home. She began as a swing covering all the children's roles, then stepped into the role of "Small Alison," the childhood version of cartoonist Alison Bechdel, for several months until the show's closing.
Just after closing Fun Home, Pizzolo joined the New York City Center's production of Sunday in the Park With George, which costarred Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford. She played Louise, the young daughter of a pair of artists. That year also was a busy year for Pizzolo because it marked her television debut. That Summer, she appeared on CBS's political satire BrainDead as the younger version of leading lady Laurel (played as an adult by Mary Elizabeth Winstead).
In 2017, Pizzolo once again played the younger version of a character in the remake of Beaches. In this, she played young C.C., the younger version of the character played by Tony winner Idina Menzel. She returned to the stage that year as well, playing Opal in the Alabama Shakespeare Festival production of Because of Winn-Dixie. She's set to continue sharing her lovely voice with fans, with a second season of her animated series Butterbean's Cafe just ordered by Nickelodeon - and we hope we'll get to see her again on Stranger Things sometime in the fourth season!

Stranger Things Season 3's Rat Problem Is a Total Season 2 Throwback
Warning: Spoilers ahead for season three of Stranger Things!
Stranger Things pushes the level of grossness it can get away with in a major way in season three, and it all starts with the rats of Hawkins, IN, mysteriously exploding. Sure, Netflix warned us that rats would play a key role in the story this year, but we had no idea they would be so . . . well, disgusting. After watching all eight episodes, you may still be asking why the rats were exploding in Stranger Things, and the answer is they were suffering the same fate as the possessed humans. It seems the Mind Flayer is a creative thinker, because he recruits rodents to start his Flayed army - and it's possible that they even play a role in infecting the humans.
Nancy is the first to realize there's something not right with Hawkins's rat population when she starts answering calls from citizens who are missing fertilizer and chemicals. It turns out that the rats have been feasting on these toxic goods, but it's not instantly killing them as it should. Instead, their banquet of lethal materials causes a reaction that ultimately leads to them exploding into sentient blobs of goo. It's not entirely clear how the Mind Flayer knows the right combination of man-made items for the rodents to consume in order to trigger a reaction that will turn them into a blob capable of fusing with other blobs to create a monster, but clearly this Upside Down resident has a gift for science.
The gang realizes that mixing chemicals can create a new substance entirely (thanks, Mr. Clarke!) the minute they spot a counter full of cleaning supplies that were used as snack food. They also point out that the hosts aren't entirely human, which is why the rats (and the people) don't simply drop dead. Instead they explode, leaving behind a gooey substance that can combine with other former rats and humans to become the Flayed. The evolutionary process that begins after the rats explode is reminiscent of what happens in season two when Dart starts off as a slug before feeding on Mews to become a demodog. As wild as it may seem, it appears that the Mind Flayer is simply applying the same technique he uses to create soldiers in the Upside Down to the rats and citizens of Hawkins. The rats exploding is a simple evolutionary tactic to make them better suited to do the bidding of the Mind Flayer in our reality, making the whole process not just gross, but also a terrifying testament to the power that this monster wields.

Stranger Things: Here's Why Heather the Lifeguard Looks So Familiar
There's a new lifeguard at the community pool in Hawkins named Heather, played by Francesca Reale, and besides working with the supersketchy Billy, she's at the center of the dark mystery that plagues the town in the third installation of Stranger Things. Along with Mayor Larry Kline (Cary Elwes) and Bruce (Jake Busey), she's one of the latest additions to the delightfully creepy series. While she might be a new kid on the block, the actress behind Heather is no stranger to the Netflix universe.
Born and raised in LA, the 24-year-old NYU graduate first appeared on YouTuber Colleen Ballinger's Netflix series Haters Back Off from 2016 to 2017, playing Miranda Sings' even-keeled sister Emily in 16 episodes. Prior to this breakout role, Reale appeared in a number of shorts. She also played a minor part on Blue Bloods as the victim Gabriella Moretti in the crime procedural's sixth season "Down the Rabbit Hole."
In an interview with Parade, Reale described her character Heather as "snooty, entitled, and popular." The series kept Heather's background super secretive before the third installation dropped - the same was true for Reale's audition. Trying out for the role, Reale only came in knowing that Heather was a lifeguard at the community pool. Per the casting team's request, she auditioned with the infamous opening phone call scene from Scream. The rest, as they say, is history.
In addition to working on the third season of Stranger Things, Reale has a movie out this year as well. Just as she's no newcomer to Netflix, Reale is no stranger to costar Natalia Dyer. Prior to working with her on the series, Reale played Dyer's best friend Laura in Yes, God, Yes, a comedy about female sexuality and the Church. The film debuted at SXSW in March, receiving positive reviews from critics.
You can catch Reale's latest updates on both her Twitter (@franlreale) and Instagram (@francescareale)!
Raise Your Hand If You're Annoyed With the Russians Trying to Open the Gate on Stranger Things
Warning: Plenty of spoilers ahead for the third season of Stranger Things!
There's a new enemy afoot in season three of Stranger Things: Russians who want to open the gate to the Upside Down that Eleven closed. With the introduction of the villainous Russian scientists and soldiers, the Duffer Brothers play off of '80s Cold War tensions - and let's be honest, the collusion debacle in today's headlines. But as Winona Ryder would say in Heathers, what's their damage? The answer, a monstrous one shall we say, lies in the postcredits scene after the final episode of season three. Let's break down the Russians' involvement throughout the Stranger Things third installation to get the full picture of what's going on.
The third season opens with the Russians trying to open the gate. A severe Russian general tells a scientist named Alexei that he has one year to get the experiment to work. While being kept as Hopper and Joyce's captive, Alexei explains to Murray, their translator, that the Russians wanted to use a key to break through a doorway to another world, aka the Upside Down. The Russians then discovered that location was vital and that the gate was once opened before in Hawkins, IN, thus building a secret base beneath Starcourt Mall. Alexei reveals that the gate is opening. (And, as we see, allowing the Mind Flayer to invade Hawkins.)
Sure we know the how, but why the Russians wanted to open the gate is less clear. Power? Information? Wreaking havoc on the United States? It looks like it's a little bit of all three. By the end of "The Battle of Starcourt," Joyce manages to close the gate, tragically losing Hopper when the key exploded. (Maybe.) Sealing the gate closed the Mind Flayer's mind from its body, thus steering Eleven and the other children out of danger.
But as the postcredits scene shows us, the Russians aren't quite out of the picture yet. In Russia, guards take a prisoner (not the American one) straight to a cage with the Demogorgon. While there's no crystal clear or definitive answer, it looks like the Russians, after managing to obliterate Starcourt Mall in the States, wanted to learn more about controlling and managing the monster by setting up shop in Hawkins. We'll just have to see how the story unfolds in season four.

The Reason Eleven Loses Her Powers in Stranger Things Could Actually Be Super Simple
Warning: So many spoilers for the third season of Stranger Things ahead!
After spending an extended amount of time inside Billy's possessed mind, battling the biggest bad the Upside Down has spit out yet and removing a piece of the Mind Flayer from her own body, Eleven loses her powers at the end of Stranger Things season three. It's a shocking move for the show to make, especially since Eleven's abilities are so key to her character, but after the emotional and physical beating she takes over just a few days in the Summer of 1985, it makes sense that she's drained by the time the season ends. Just to be clear, Stranger Things doesn't offer a straight answer as to why Eleven loses her powers or if they'll come back. However, the show drops enough hints that we can make a pretty good guess as to why this particular tussle with the Mind Flayer leaves our favorite teenage badass having to ask Will to help her reach things on the top shelf.
Mike and Max's debate about how far Eleven should extend herself feels particularly relevant in retrospect. Max is sure her pal knows her own limits better than anyone else, while Mike is concerned that she's pushing herself too far. Ultimately, he may be right. Eleven generally has breaks between using her powers in big bursts, but in season three, the Mind Flayer doesn't let up. Within just 48 hours, we see her battle the monster in the form of Billy, then take on the Flayed twice, and she spends a longer than normal amount of time inside Billy/the Mind Flayer's head. On top of all that, she uses her powers to toss a car into the Russians and then, most significantly, to remove a piece of the Mind Flayer from her own body. It's clear that the last incident is too much for Eleven. Whether having that bit of the monster inside of her muted her powers or the sheer amount of strength she has to draw on in the moment simply causes her mind to shut down, removing that awful thing from her leg leaves her unable to tap into the powers that have saved her and her friends' lives over and over again.
While Eleven's never experienced anything like this before, as far as we know, she does tell Hopper that she needs to "recharge" when he finds her at the mall. If we think of her powers as an internal battery, then the sheer amount of energy she exerts by using her powers without taking breaks for nearly two full days straight sounds like more than enough to leave her drained. Remember, she always deals with a physical effect from using her telekinesis - her nose bleeds. That could be like her body's way of reminding her that there is a limit to how far it can be pushed. Simply put, Eleven overextends in herself as she fights to save her friends and herself, and now she's facing an uncertain future in which she may have to live her life as a normal teen unless her body finds a way to recharge the battery that this latest battle leaves fully drained.

We Listened to the Whole Stranger Things Season 3 Soundtrack, So Here's to You, '80s Kids
It doesn't get much more '80s-tastic than Stranger Things, especially in this third season. I mean, those neon lights at the Starcourt Mall just scream 1980s, not to mention the constant soundtrack that's always adding just a little more flair in the background. It's not just at the mall, though, no it's everywhere in Hawkins, IN, and it's all of our favorite jams from years gone by. With a little bit of Foreigner, John Mellencamp, and the queen herself - Madonna, of course - the soundtrack for season three of Stranger Things is everything this '80s baby could have asked for. Scroll through for all the tracks on the soundtrack, including one very special rendition of "Neverending Story" by Gaten Matarazzo (aka Dustin) himself. You definitely don't want to miss that one.
A Colorist Weighs in on Cherry Blond Hair - This Month’s Biggest Hair Color Trend
One of this month's biggest hair trends is having red hair somewhere in between Geri Halliwell's circa her days as Ginger Spice and strawberry blond. The latest hue on everyone's mind is "cherry blond." If the term seems counterintuitive, that's because it is, and we asked hair colorist Stephanie Diaz to break down the trend for us.
"The concept of 'cherry' is a deeper, pinker red," Diaz said. "[Cherry blond hair] would be a blend - equal parts red to blond."
The truth is that there are many versions of cherry blond hair. The key to the look, according to Diaz, is having a rich red shade diluted in different ways that exposes the blond. Ahead, check out our picks for the prettiest photos of cherry blond hair.

PSA: Here's How Long Hot and Cold Dishes Can Sit in the Sun Before They Become Unsafe
Summer is synonymous with picnics, beach weekends, and backyard barbecues, and while it's the perfect time to try out a new recipe on the grill or whip up your favorite chilled side, it's important to know just how long that food will stay good outdoors.
"Bacteria can grow rapidly on certain foods when they're in the temperature danger zone, which is 41 to 135 degrees," Janilyn Hutchings, a food scientist at StateFoodSafety, told POPSUGAR. These foods are known as time or temperature control for safety foods (TCS), and they include not only meat, dairy, and eggs, but also leafy greens, sliced tomatoes, and cooked vegetables, among others. Essentially, anything that's rich in protein or carbs, moist, or neutral to slightly acidic can pose a risk. If you don't want a party to end with food poisoning, you'll need to take steps to keep everyone safe.
"In general, food can only be left out for two hours before going bad - meaning the bacteria in the food has multiplied to unsafe levels," Janilyn said. "When food is left in the sun, it can go bad even faster because the heat can cause foods to enter the temperature danger zone more quickly." In fact, the USDA recommends leaving food out for no more than an hour when the temperature outside is 90 degrees or hotter.
Bottom line: keep hot foods hot, and bring along a cooler and ice to pack away any food that needs to stay chilled, like dips, fruit, and salsa or guacamole.

I Lost 15 Pounds, and This Is the 450-Calorie Salad I Eat For Lunch Most Days
I'm a creature of habit. I like to drink the same 400-calorie smoothie every morning after my morning workout, wear the same three black pairs of leggings, listen to the same pump-up jams that I've listened to since high school (what's up, early-2000s pop/punk). And as a creature of habit, I tend to make the same handful of recipes over and over.
Sure, that's mostly because I'm a terrible cook and not that adventurous in the kitchen, but eating the same things over and over again can help you achieve your weight-loss goals. I have lost about 15 pounds since January, and I find that eating the same lunches repeatedly has kept me on track and takes the guesswork out of tracking my meals.
Since I usually order a takeout salad for lunch anyway, I thought it would be easier if I just made my own salad and brought it in. My 450-calorie salad is actually delicious and provides all three macronutrients (protein, carbs, and fat) to keep me feeling full and satisfied all afternoon. To make things even easier, I just bring all my ingredients to work and chop the veggies when I get there. I don't have time to slice up a bell pepper or a cucumber in the morning before work, but I do have time to throw all my ingredients in a plastic salad bowl with a lid and run out the door - I like the 2.5-quart bowl from this Sterilite 8 Piece Covered Bowl Set ($12). Check out my recipe below.
450-Calorie Weight-Loss Salad Recipe
- Mixed greens (usually bagged Spring mix)
- 3 ounces of rotisserie chicken (no skin)
- 1/4 of a cucumber
- 1/4 of a red bell pepper
- 1/4 of an avocado
- 2 tablespoons Greek dressing
In my opinion, the dressing makes all the difference. That's why I love Primal Kitchen Greek Vinaigrette dressing ($21 for two bottles). It's made with avocado oil, so it's full of satiating, healthy fats. I also get more healthy fat from one-fourth of an avocado. For protein, I opt for a slice of rotisserie chicken; I buy a rotisserie chicken from the store on Sunday night and have it the whole week. I also love a variety of colorful veggies to add some healthy carbs.
If I have had a hard workout that morning and know I'll be hungrier, or if I want some crunch, I'll throw in a handful of crushed Parm Crisps ($37 for a 12-pack) or get in extra carbs by crumbling up some Simple Mills Almond Flour Fine Ground Sea Salt Crackers ($25 for six).
Although it's probably easier to keep a bottle of salad dressing in the work fridge, I don't trust my coworkers (kidding! sort of . . .) so I use the GladWare Mini Round containers ($7 for an eight-count). I can measure out two tablespoons and store it easily. I love these little reusable containers for not only salad dressings, but also stashing nuts, nut butters, and berries.
I've been tracking my calories using the Noom weight-loss app and love how the Noom food database is huge and includes all of my favorite foods, snacks, and salad dressings. It makes tracking so much easier. Using the Noom app, I calculated that my salad is 445 calories.
Sure, a salad isn't the sexiest lunch you can have. But this simple combo is quick to throw together, delicious, and leaves me feeling satisfied. I can't argue with 15 pounds down.

Light Up Your Arms With This Kettlebell Workout Video Set to Katy Perry's "Firework"
Nothing will get you pumped for Fourth of July (or any day, for that matter) like Katy Perry's "Firework." It's about celebrating originality, letting your sparkle shine, and giving the whole world a taste of what makes you great. And Twinkle Poindexter, a kettlebell instructor at Yadkin YMCA, combined her love of "Firework" with a kickass, arm-focused workout you've got to try. In the above video, which she posted in 2017 and we're so happy we found among the YouTube fitness routines on the internet, she does triceps extensions, power swings to activate the core, and single-arm presses all while singing along to Katy's inspirational song.
"Triceps are a muscle group I always try to hit in my classes, and I felt like it fit perfectly with the movement of the song," Twinkle told POPSUGAR. "Same with the shoulder presses." She also pointed out that when you lift to the tempo of music, you can get lost in the song (and the lyrics). Your body might forget you're working hard because you're having fun! In just three minutes and 45 seconds, your arms will light up like the Fourth of July. And make 'em go, "Oh, oh, oh!," of course.

A Quick Refresher on the Harsh Fate of Stranger Things Cinnamon Roll, Bob Newby
On a show like Netflix's Stranger Things, death and horror are just part of the experience. This is a story about a young group of kids who discover that their small town basically sits on a Hellmouth, so yeah, some death is to be expected. But still - even after we went through our grieving process over Barb - there's one that truly hit us deeply: the death of Bob Newby, aka Bob the Brain. The small-town hero (played by living legend Sean Astin) made his entrance and departure in season two of the sci-fi series, but he damn sure made his mark.
Bob is Hawkins's local RadioShack manager and the so-earnest-it-hurts new boyfriend of one Joyce Byers. He pretty much signs his death warrant by getting into the relationship, but he's also full of the sweetest dad jokes, so we just have to savor his angelic self while he's around. Over the course of the season we learn that not only is Bob a beautiful cinnamon roll who desires everything he wants, but he's also a former classmate of Joyce and Jim Hopper, who founded the Hawkins Middle AV Club that the boys gleefully take part in.
The Hawkins native visibly dotes on Joyce and even suggests that the two of them move out of the small town to Maine with Will and Jonathan (which is a great idea considering how terrible their life is there). He even reaches out to Will - currently fighting a mental battle against the Mind Flayer who is attacking his psyche with Upside-Down nightmares - and attempts to help him deal with them with a clever reference to Stephen King's It.
But all good things must come to an end and Bob meets his maker in the eighth episode of the second season. Everything goes to sh*t when Will is taken to Hawkins Lab and everyone realizes that he's been mentally hijacked by the Mind Flayer. Bob, Joyce, Hopper, Mike, and Dr. Owens find shelter in a control room when the Mind Flayer unleashes a pack of Demodogs into the lab, killing everyone else in the facility.

The power goes out, which puts the complex on lockdown and traps everyone inside with the monsters. As the only person who understands BASIC, Bob volunteers to go to the breaker room and turn the power back on, resetting the locks. He urges Hopper not to wait around for him when he gets the power back on, and with the guidance of Dr. Owens, is able to get to the breaker room and restore the power.
In a painful twist, just as Bob has been guided out of the lab and literally feet away from safety, he's tackled by a demodog and quickly torn apart as several others join the first. Joyce looks on in horror before Hopper guides her out and Bob Newby's chapter is officially closed.
Harsh, right? The season finale shows that the Byerses definitely haven't forgotten Bob, as they hang a hand-drawn picture of Bob dressed as a superhero on their refrigerator. A proper tribute to the hero that the folks of Hawkins needed, but will never know they had. R.I.P. Bob Newby.

Shay Mitchell Bares Her Pregnant Belly in Italy, Wearing Bikinis That Are Far From Boring
Fun fact: Shay Mitchell's growing belly looks even cuter in a bikini. The 32-year-old actress has always been a swimsuit queen in our books, and that sure hasn't changed since she recently revealed she's pregnant with her first child. Days after dropping the news through a sweet YouTube video, Shay and her friend jetted off to Italy for some fun in the sun - and she packed the perfect bikinis for the occasion.
Shay was spotted wearing not one but two flattering bikinis on her Summer getaway. Both her light-blue string bikini and her marigold front-tie two-piece would be welcome additions to our own swimsuit drawers. Keep reading to see more snaps of Shay's chosen suits - we can always count on her for some much-needed inspo.
Spider-Man: Far From Home Isn't the First Reveal of Spidey’s Identity
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Spider-Man: Far From Home!
The Spider-Man: Far From Home final scene introduces the spoiler to end all spoilers. Mysterio, despite succumbing to death as confirmed by Tony Stark's artificial intelligence EDITH, has the last laugh at the expense of our boy hero by exposing Spider-Man's alter ego to the world and naming Peter Parker as the perpetrator for the vicious drone attack on London. While this grave cliffhanger provides essential fodder for a sequel - as Parker will need to clear his name - the predicament implies larger repercussions for the global presence of Spider-Man.
Overall, the Marvel Cinematic Universe takes a different stance on hero identities than most feature film mega franchises in that a few characters, like Iron Man and War Machine, as well as Captain America and Captain Marvel, to a varying degree, have identities that are essentially part of the public knowledge within their worlds. However, a massive public reveal of a hero's secret identity isn't something the Marvel Cinematic Universe has dealt with since Phase 1. One could hypothesize that this breach of superhero protocol could affect Spider-Man's world in a manner that spills into other Marvel franchises. This, indeed, becomes a valid theory when we look at the unmasking of Spider-Man in the comics - an event that's happened at a familial level on numerous occasions, mostly due to Parker's own carelessness. However, there is one notable storyline that arose in the 2006 comic Civil War#2, a seven-issue series written by Mark Millar and penciled by Steve McNiven, that not only exposes Spider-Man's identity to the world but also echoes that of the film Captain America: Civil War and could inspire alternate storylines for other characters within the MCU.
In the comic, the US government passes the Superhero Registration Act designed to have those with superpowers file with the government, although their true identities would technically remain hidden. Like the film, Captain America opposes the act while Iron Man supports it with Spider-Man caught in the middle of their tense battle. The comic's main difference from the movie, however, is that after a soul-searching conversation with his Aunt May and wife MJ, Parker decides to publicly reveal his identity of his own volition as a message of peace. Spider-Man hopes to serve as an example for those who remain undecided and end the bickering from those who remain opposed.
Of course, the comic eventually rolls back the reveal with a moral dilemma and a bit of magic in Amazing Spider-Man #544 (2007), written by J. Michael Straczynski and penciled by Joe Quesada. As the story unfolds, Parker finds his Aunt May in mortal danger. In a fit of desperation to save her life, he allows the demon Mephisto to rewrite history. The cost of this reboot is that Parker's marriage to MJ disappears from existence, but the event also restores his secret identity.
Let's just hope the MCU uses this source material in a less heartbreaking manner, whether it decides to let Spider-Man's secret identity play out for the long haul like Iron Man's or uses the Mephisto storyline of self-sacrifice to finally bring the reality of the multiverse to the big screen.

Henry Cavill Smolders as Geralt of Rivia in First-Look Photos From Netflix's The Witcher
If you've grown tired of watching Henry Cavill fight evildoers and monsters in the DC universe as Superman, we have good news: you'll soon be able to watch him fight evildoers and monsters in a new universe! And this time, he'll be wearing a long, white wig. So, there's that.
On July 1, Netflix released a number of first-look images at its upcoming series The Witcher, which sees Cavill in the lead role as Geralt of Rivia, a sorcerer, outcast, and cold-blooded killer who's tasked with ridding the world of monsters. The TV adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy novels, which also spawned an insanely popular video game of the same name, has Lauren Schmidt Hissrich - who's produced everything from The Defenders to Parenthood - on board as showrunner and has the cast all lined up. Yennefer will be played by Wanderlust and Sherwood alum Anya Chalotra, while Into the Badlands actress Freya Allan is taking on the role of Ciri.
Netflix's official description for the series is as follows:
The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
Check out the first images from the series ahead, and if you're going to San Diego Comic-Con this year, make sure you stop by Hall H at 2:15 p.m. on July 19 to see the cast speak on a panel about the series moderated by sci-fi superfan Yvette Nicole Brown.

Spencer, Fridge, Martha, and Bethany Take Things to the Next Level in New Jumanji Trailer
The 2017 sequel to Jumanji, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, was a hilarious thrill ride from start to finish, and it seems like the next installment in the franchise will be much of the same.
In the first trailer for for Jumanji: The Next Level, we see young Spencer (Alex Wolff) longing for the friendships he shared with Fridge, Martha, and Bethany within the video game they got sucked into the previous year. So, despite knowing danger awaits him, he tinkers with it until he ends up back in the jungle they narrowly escaped the last time around. Naturally, his friends follow.
The adult avatars they initially chose (played by Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black) are back in action, albeit with some unexpected twists - Johnson's Spencer and Hart's Fridge are now the avatars of IRL Spencer and Fridge's grandfathers (played by Danny DeVito and Danny Glover). On top of that, the game has changed entirely, and the players now have to brave unexplored areas and new locales - dry AF deserts, snow-covered mountains - to save Spencer and once again escape the world of Jumanji.
Watch the trailer for the new film above, and keep an eye out for it when it swings into theaters on Christmas day.
