The 19-year-old Grown-ish actress and singer was recently cast as the mermaid princess in Disney's upcoming live-action remake, and while her casting is an exciting step forward, it was unfortunately met with offensive backlash and even a #NotMyAriel hashtag. On Saturday, July 6, Jodi (who holds a longtime connection with the character) addressed the controversy at the Florida Supercon convention and reminded fans that "the most important thing is to tell the story."
"I think that the spirit of a character is what really matters. What you bring to the table in a character as far as their heart, and their spirit, is what really counts," Jodi said, according to Comicbook.com. "And the outside package - cause let's face it, I'm really, really old - and so when I'm singing 'Part of Your World,' if you were to judge me on the way that I look on the outside, it might change the way that you interpret the song. But if you close your eyes, you can still hear the spirit of Ariel."

Spider-Man: Far From Home's End Credits Scenes Are Essential Viewing For 2 Different Reasons
If there is one thing that Marvel has perfected over the last 23 films, it's their postcredits scenes. Whether they're inside jokes that don't actually tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or earth-shattering scenes that leave us metaphorically holding our breath until the next release, it's safe to say that fans are rarely disappointed when they stick around after the film's credits have rolled by. That's why fans should definitely keep their keisters parked after Spider-Man: Far From Home runs through - there are two postcredits scenes when the movie ends, and they're absolutely vital watching for every Marvel fan.
The two postcredits scenes in Far From Home (technically the first is a midcredits scene, and the second is truly a postcredits sequence) twist the MCU on its head for two completely different reasons. Can Lower-Body Workouts Actually Burn Belly Fat? Here's What an Expert Says to Do
You may already be aware that it's impossible to spot-reduce fat, which includes the fat on your belly; you have to work to reduce your total body fat in order to see results there. So if endless core workouts won't get you a perfectly flat belly, you might wonder what will. Full-body workouts, upper-body workouts? What about lower body, where some of your largest muscle groups are? It's exciting to think that strengthening your legs and glutes could also help you burn fat, but can it?
Do Lower-Body Workouts Burn Belly Fat?
Lower-body exercises are actually a great choice for burning calories, said exercise physiologist Tom Holland, MS, CSCS, a fitness adviser for Bowflex. "When burning fat is a primary goal, you want to perform exercises that utilize as many muscle groups as possible to burn as many calories as possible," he told POPSUGAR. That means that compound lower-body exercises in particular can be very helpful. Moves that involve multiple muscle groups such as squats, lunges, and deadlifts, for example, burn lots of calories during a workout. Beyond that, building lean muscle as you do with a lower-body strength workout will increase your resting metabolic rate, which means you'll continue to burn calories after your workout, Tom said.
That metabolic piece can't be stressed enough. Tom explained that one common misconception is that building muscle in your lower body will only function to increase your strength. It does, but that's not the only benefit. Training large leg muscles and your glutes, which are the biggest muscles in your body, "can also be a powerful form of metabolic conditioning, and burning calories," Tom explained. And these two things can help decrease overall body fat, which in turn should help decrease belly fat - but your lower-body workout will not target belly fat specifically.
Lower-body workouts really do give you that extra bang for your buck. You're getting stronger, building muscle, and burning calories, all at the same time. Of course, you shouldn't only be doing lower-body work. Full-body workouts can be the more time-effective choice for building muscle and burning fat, Tom said. We also know that cardio is key in any weight-loss routine, burning major calories and building your endurance. And high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is worth your consideration as well. Done with compound bodyweight or weighted exercises, Tom told POPSUGAR that a HIIT workout will burn calories and may specifically target abdominal fat. You'll also need to maintain a healthy diet in order to see the results of your hard work. (Start with this two-week healthy eating plan.)

One of our favorite activities is to walk down 'alligator alley' and check out the birds and alligators. We do this at least twice a month," they said. It is fairly evident that the pair loves the outdoors, so the park was an ideal location for their outdoor wedding.
To add to the experience, the grooms had a lovely "first-look" moment. After getting ready, they each put on a blindfold and were escorted to a clearing where they stood back-to-back. They finally turned around and took off their blindfolds in an extremely emotional moment. Photographer Crystal Koehler was there to capture the beautiful experience, and the first-look photos turned out amazingly!
"The couple chose a floral bohemian garden theme for their ceremony and reception," said Crystal about the wedding. They truly did justice to their theme because the wedding was an explosion of color - especially with the handmade ribbon backdrop for their ceremony! This Taylor Swift-Themed Wedding Is Full of Hidden Details From Our "Wildest Dreams"
Photographer Ashton Kelley had a vision for a Taylor Swift-inspired wedding photo shoot from her "wildest dreams," and she pulled it off. As a Taylor superfan, Ashton knew all the subtle references she wanted to incorporate - it was just a matter of pulling out all the stops and getting everything organized. She told POPSUGAR, "I was planning a full-on Taylor Swift-inspired wedding. On May 22 last year, I filled an entire page. I took a photo of the report and I emailed it to a creative friend. She responded immediately that I needed to create a mood board and carry this out. While I was excited, it was extremely intimidating, and I got overwhelmed."
With the help of 30 vendors and almost 1,000 balloons, the shoot was born. Ashton worked with Jess Albins Events to brainstorm ideas, which included nods to Taylor's Reputation era as well as the new pastel-filled world that is TS7. "We were deep-diving through social media, watching music videos, listening to albums on loop, and studying live shows for anything we could incorporate. When we weren't immersed in pop culture through direct search, we were browsing through everything the fandom had to say. There were snakes and cats, cocktails shakers that said "Shake It Off," hidden lyrics all over the place, and a custom Lover denim jacket named after Taylor's upcoming seventh album. They even saw a real snake during the shoot, which Ashton deemed a good omen.

With the help of 30 vendors and almost 1,000 balloons, the shoot was born. Ashton worked with Jess Albins Events to brainstorm ideas, which included nods to Taylor's Reputation era as well as the new pastel-filled world that is TS7. "We were deep-diving through social media, watching music videos, listening to albums on loop, and studying live shows for anything we could incorporate. When we weren't immersed in pop culture through direct search, we were browsing through everything the fandom had to say.
