You're Probably Not Drinking Enough Water While Intermittent Fasting - Here's Why

It's surprisingly easy to become dehydrated while intermittent fasting. In fact, you may need to drink water more frequently than you even think.

Consider this: you hydrate the most when you're eating, either from a glass or the water-dense foods on your plate, like fruits and vegetables. So, "dehydration during intermittent fasting is definitely a risk, given that you have fewer meal occasions and potentially day-long stretches between these occasions," Allison Baker, RD, director of retail nutrition at Kroger, told POPSUGAR.

During those fasting windows, you can and should still drink water. "Water needs vary depending on the individual, but a good rule of thumb is 2.2 liters for women and 3 liters for men," explained Samantha Presicci, lead dietitian at Snap Kitchen. "Our actual hydration need is higher, but about 20 percent of it is met through food, assuming that we're eating adequate fruits and vegetables."

In order to stay hydrated and prevent pesky symptoms like bloating and headaches, Allison suggests making water a part of your routine, just as you would a meal or snack. So, if you used to eat early in the morning or late at night before you began intermittent fasting, make it a point to reach for water at those times. Filling up on water may even help prevent any hunger pangs you experience until your body adjusts to eating in a tighter window.

Of course, you can also just set a daily goal of two to three liters, and make a concerted effort to drink that much during the day. One thing that can help? "For the same reason we say to keep junk food out of sight, we say to keep your water by your side all day long," Allison said. "This will encourage passive intake and help you meet your hydration goals."

Exclusive: Jack Reynor Succeeds in Being the Worst Boyfriend Ever in This Midsommar Clip

On the surface, Midsommar, Ari Aster's follow-up to grueling horror smash Hereditary, is about a lot of things: grief, a Swedish pagan cult, extreme flower crowns. But at its core, the film is a break-up movie. An extraordinarily f*cked up break-up movie.

If you haven't seen it, Midsommar follows Dani and Christian (Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor) as they struggle to figure out their strained relationship during a nine-day midsummer festival in Sweden. While at first they're delighted by the choreographed dances, traditional garments, and colorful blooms, Dani can't escape the whirlpool of grief she finds herself in. And Christian? Well, Christian is no help whatsoever. (Seriously - he's the worst).

In our exclusive clip from the film, above, you'll get a taste of the dynamics in their relationship as Dani tries to understand why Christian hid his upcoming trip to the festival from her. Unsurprisingly, he only offers her a not-quite-an-apology apology in response. Check it out, and then see all the other horror movies coming out this year that should be on your radar.

Gabrielle Union and Kaavia Are "Settled and Serving" in This Ethereal Mommy-Daughter Photo

In case you're not yet convinced that Gabrielle Union and baby Kaavia are mommy-daughter photo goals, let this gorgeous snap be the last piece of evidence you need. During a family vacation in Italy, Gabrielle posted this ethereal picture by April Belle Photos on Instagram with the caption, "Settled and Serving," and now I think every mother-daughter photo shoot should include a beach cover-up billowing in a crisp Italian breeze.

While the stylish duo looked absolutely stunning in their matching blue and turquoise beachwear, the outfits didn't take our attention away from Kaavia's camera-ready "Blue Steel" look. So cute! This just serves as further proof that, even at less than a year old, Kaavia is always ready for a photo opp.

How Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason's Life Has Changed Since Performing at the Royal Wedding

At just 20 years old, Sheku Kanneh-Mason is taking the world of classical music by storm! The British cellist (who's now often referred to as "Cello Bae") has quickly garnered worldwide praise and recognition after winning the 2016 BBC Young Musician competition, releasing his first album, Inspiration, and, of course, performing at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal wedding in May 2018. I got the chance to chat with Sheku after his spectacular performance with the Havana Chamber Orchestra at Festival Napa Valley on July 13 - we talked about everything from the royal wedding to his latest album, and I can honestly say he's one of the sweetest, most down-to-earth people I've ever met.

Despite the fact that Sheku has become quite a celebrity in his own right, he's clearly unfazed by the fame and just truly enjoys doing what he does, which is playing the cello. "Classical music and the cello have always been a part of my life," Sheku said. "It's always been my goal to share it with as many people as I can." After speaking with him, I totally understand why Meghan and Harry selected him to perform at their wedding. Maybe he can perform at mine next? See what else Sheku had to say ahead!

Netflix Cuts 13 Reason Why's Graphic Scene of Hannah Baker's Death After Controversy

Netflix is making changes to a controversial 13 Reasons Why scene ahead of the show's third season. The teen drama famously centers around a group of high school kids who are impacted by a series of exposing cassette tapes left behind by Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), a classmate who killed herself weeks before the tapes' release. Hannah's graphic suicide scene became a highly contested topic of conversation for viewers, and now, more than two years after its depiction, Netflix has decided to edit it out.

"We've heard from many young people that 13 Reasons Why encouraged them to start conversations about difficult issues like depression and suicide and get help - often for the first time," Netflix said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "As we prepare to launch season three later this Summer, we've been mindful about the ongoing debate around the show. So on the advice of medical experts, including Dr. Christine Moutier, chief medical officer at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, we've decided with creator Brian Yorkey and the producers to edit the scene in which Hannah takes her own life from season one."

Originally, the season one finale scene (which was nearly three minutes long) showed Hannah graphically slitting her wrists in a bathtub before her parents found her body. After some initial backlash, Netflix added an updated trigger warning to the series and eventually decided to remove the scene all together. The newly edited scene now shows Hannah looking in a mirror before cutting to a scene of her parents, implying her suicide. The streaming service will allegedly also be on the lookout for pirated clips that may surface showing the original scene.

"It was our hope, in making 13 Reasons Why into a television show, to tell a story that would help young viewers feel seen and heard and encourage empathy in all who viewed it, much as the best-selling book did before us," showrunner Brian Yorkey said. "Our creative intent in portraying the ugly, painful reality of suicide in such graphic detail in season one was to tell the truth about the horror of such an act and make sure no one would ever wish to emulate it. But as we ready to launch season three, we have heard concerns about the scene from Dr. Christine Moutier at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and others, and have agreed with Netflix to re-edit it."

"No one scene is more important than the life of the show and its message that we must take better care of each other," he continued. "We believe this edit will help the show do the most good for the most people while mitigating any risk for especially vulnerable young viewers."

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams Are Officially Engaged! Watch the Sweet Proposal Video

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams are engaged! On Tuesday, the Modern Family actress and former Bachelorette contestant shared Instagram posts that revealed a gorgeous beachfront proposal. "That can't eat, can't sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of stuff," Sarah captioned a series of photos from the special day. Wells shared a touching video of the moment he got down on one knee and slipped a ring on Sarah's finger, and it's set set to a sweet song called "I Like to Be With Me When I'm With You" by Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors.

The two, who first started dating in 2017 after Wells slid into Sarah's DMs, cleared up engagement rumors earlier this year but made it clear marriage was the plan. On Jan. 4, Wells opened up about their relationship to Us Weekly, saying, "Everyone thinks [Sarah and I are] engaged right now. We are not engaged, let me just say that. We just moved in together, so I think we're still kind of, like, feeling each other out, but . . . it's gonna happen eventually." Wells also said that he still has to get the ring, before reiterating, "We are not engaged, but . . . it's definitely going to happen."

The Hollywood duo has been making us swoon over the past year. Between their super sweet anniversary pictures and their fun beach getaways, it's hard to not want the best for the lovebirds. Wells has even been supportive of Sarah throughout her kidney transplant experience. Congrats to the happy couple!

You know you've found a perfect workout song when it makes you actually forget that you're working out. Madeline and Ed Face an Uncertain Future on Big Little Lies

Warning: Some Big Little Lies spoilers ahead!

It was inevitable that Ed would find out about Madeline's affair with Joseph on Big Little Lies - and the obvious next question is, can their marriage weather her infidelity? We'll find out when the season two finale airs, but right now the pair is on shaky ground for more than one reason. Although things may never be the same, I'd venture a guess that Ed really does want to forgive Madeline for her betrayal and move on together as a family. But it seems more likely than not that the truth about Perry Wright's death will come out and Ed will learn that Madeline has been keeping another massive secret from him even as she tries to regain his trust - and that doesn't bode well for their future.

In the penultimate episode of season two, it looks like Ed is on the verge of hooking up with Joseph's wife, Tori, after bumping into her at a bar. Tori makes it abundantly clear that she wants to have sex with Ed as payback against Joseph and Madeline (and also because she thinks he's really hot), but Ed opts to go home to his wife. Madeline is wearing her wedding dress and the couple shares a sweet moment that hints they're slowly moving towards reconciliation.

But the secret at the center of the series could ultimately destroy any chance Madeline has at winning back her husband - and she knows it. She expresses her desire to tell Ed the truth about what really happened on Trivia Night, but Renata is quick to remind her they have a pact and coming clean with Ed could have repercussions for all five women. This really puts Madeline between a rock and a hard place, because telling Ed that Perry was pushed could mean that Bonnie will go to prison and Celeste will lose custody of her children (to Mary Louise Wright, of all people).

Ed may be able to forgive Madeline for her infidelity, but he's repeatedly told his wife that he doesn't know how he'll ever trust her again. Her decision to continue lying about Perry's death isn't purely a selfish one - there are four other women's lives hanging in the balance, and I definitely wouldn't bank on Ed joining in the pact of secrecy. But if Ed learns that Madeline lied to him about not one but two major things over the course of one year, it's hard to imagine he'll ever be able to believe another word she says.

They may end up staying together for Chloe and the sake of appearances, but as of right now this couple's future looks pretty bleak.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Addresses Game of Thrones Backlash: "We Worked Our Asses Off"

Game of Thrones might officially be over, but I am not done talking about it, and neither is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, aka the Kingslayer, Jaime Lannister. While some fans were less than satisfied with the series' final season, Coster-Waldau addressed the backlash on Sunday during a panel at Con of Thrones (a Game of Thrones fan convention) in Nashville, TN.

"Every season has been intense in terms of the attention and discussion, but it was extraordinarily intense for a final season," Coster-Waldau said of season eight. "And we have this WhatsApp group - the actors - and I saw some people getting a little upset because some of the [criticism] stuff is vicious. If you guys [fans] get really angry about something ― I'm sure you did, some of you ― you write to each other and go, 'F*cking assh*les. This is so not what would happen! They ruined - they butchered George's world!' It's just fun for you, but of course some [actors] got a little upset."

Following the debut of the series' finale, fans were vocal on social media about their disappointment with the show, which was disheartening to Coster-Waldau and many of his Thrones costars. "There was that kind of weird feeling of, 'What the hell? We worked so hard,'" the actor said. "I'm not asking anyone to feel sorry, by the way. That's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying how it was to get through that whole thing."

But Coster-Waldau didn't just stand up for his fellow costars. He also spoke up about the criticisms posed against the show's writers, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who were largely blamed by disappointed fans for the season's controversial ending. "For anyone to imagine or to think that the two creators of the show are not the most passionate, the greatest, the most invested of all, and to, for a second, think that they didn't spend the last ten years thinking about how they were going to end it is kind of silly," Coster-Waldau said. "And also know that they too read the comments . . . Like everyone on Game of Thrones, every single one - and there are thousands - we worked our asses off to make the best show we could for the ending."

Later in the panel, one fan praised the final season, and Coster-Waldau was relieved to hear the fan's positive words. "I just wish Dan and David could be here to hear this, to understand that people really love the show, that suddenly they're not the most hated people in the world. I mean, because that's how they might ― I know how they feel."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Takes on Trump's Racist Tweets: "This Country Belongs to Everyone"

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered a powerful speech on Monday, July 15, at a press conference with fellow Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, all of whom were the target of racist tweets by Donald Trump the previous weekend. The president recently tweeted that AOC and "this crowd" are "a bunch of communists" and "hate our own country." He said the four democratic congresswomen of color, who are all US citizens should go back to their own countries and "help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came." (Notably, Omar - whose family fled the Somalian civil war to seek refuge in America when she was an 8-year-old, is the only immigrant among them) His tweets immediately received widespread backlash.

At the press conference on Capitol Hill, each woman shared powerful words decrying the hateful language and calling for unity. AOC herself said a lot with a few words. She recounted the story of the first time she visited Washington DC as a kid, which was during a family road trip from New York to Florida. Her dad took her to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and told her, "This belongs to all of us," as they looked at the Capitol.

She said, "I want to tell children across this country is that no matter what the president says, this country belongs to you, and today, that notion - that very notion - was challenged." The congresswomen ultimately referred to Trump's explosive remarks as a "distraction from what's important" and agreed to stay focused on their work. Watch part of AOC's address above.

I Grew Up With Only Brothers - And I Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way

I grew up with three wild brothers - two older and my twin brother. A lot of the time, they acted like complete knuckleheads - yet I never, not even once, yearned for a sister. In fact, I loved every minute of it. While my childhood wasn't perfect, looking back, I really liked the dynamic of being the only girl. And no, I wasn't uber spoiled or treated like a princess. Instead, I was just treated like me - I just happened to be a daughter among three sons.

My parents never pampered me. They didn't dote on me, shower me with praise, or tell me just how pretty I was. While I wasn't treated exactly like the boys, I also wasn't treated that much differently. My parents encouraged me to play sports . . . I mean, they did see me roughhouse with the best of them in our living room. Especially my twin brother and I - we'd get into it a lot. But as a tiny little scrapper (toughed up by two older brothers), I could handle my own. And as we grew up, we all played daily games of soccer, basketball, and baseball together in the back yard, where they never took it easy on their baby sister, either.

Instead of coddling the only girl, they pushed me to want to be better every single day. We'd compete, compete, and compete some more. My twin brother and I raced on foot, on bikes, on scooters, on anything we could get our hands on. He wouldn't let me win just because I was a girl. But it wasn't all about competition. My two older brothers also served as my mentors. They both took the time to work with me on my soccer and basketball skills, without being asked. They told me exactly where to place my hands on the basketball to nail the perfect jump shot. They modeled how to juggle the soccer ball with my thighs, feet, and head so that I could regularly break my juggling record. They taught me work ethic. Because of their lessons, I eventually craved the time to practice - and probably wouldn't have played college sports without their initial guidance.

And when I didn't feel like playing sports with the boys, I learned to enjoy the my own company. I didn't need anyone else to have fun! As a child, I was content playing independently. When I was younger, I'd sit in my room making up stories with my Barbies. As I got older, I loved to read or write in a journal as I sprawled out on my bed. The fact that I didn't have a sister to play with never even crossed my mind. And over the years, I made some solid female friends who are still in my life today. So even now, I don't dream about having a sister to share this adult life with.

Today, my brothers and I group-text each other almost daily. We send around funny texts, GIFs, life updates (both the good and the bad), and more. But most importantly, we're there for one another through everything. Our father is aging and my mother endured advanced cancer a few years ago. Despite the fact that I'm the only one who lives in the same state as our parents, they stepped up to help. They flew home to be with our parents and to help my load. We carried each other through that difficult time. Although my brothers didn't know exactly how to deal certain things, we all helped each other tremendously - and I'll always be grateful that I can count on them.

Despite never having a sister to trade clothes with or help me out with boyfriend problems, I never wished my family looked different. Besides, I figured all of the girl stuff out either on my own, with the help of my mom and friends, or believe it or not - with the help of my brothers. Even after all this time, I'd never in a million years trade one of those knuckleheads in.

The Haunting of Hill House Cast Members Reunite For Season 2 - It's a Family Reunion!

Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Victoria Pedretti are gearing up to get haunted all over again. The actors played siblings in Netflix's acclaimed Haunting of Hill House series last year, and are set to the share the screen once more for the show's second season. This time around, they'll depart from the Crain family's storyline for a brand-new spooky adventure, based on Henry James's dreary tale The Turn of the Screw.

For Netflix's second installment, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Pedretti will play a governess who's hired to watch over two children in a remote estate. Much like Hill House, this manor is not what it seems. The governess becomes convinced there is supernatural mischief afoot, leading to her descent into madness.

Details on Jackson-Cohen's role are still scarce, but the actor spilled a few tidbits about his character "Peter" through a Twitter video on July 15. According to Jackson-Cohen, Peter is a "charming young man who lives at Bly" but he's a troublemaker. "He makes life very difficult for everyone there." Welp, if that doesn't have you on the edge of your seat, what else will? Stay tuned for The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix in 2020.
