The Creepy-Cool Locations Across the UK Where The End of the F***ing World Was Shot
The second season of The End of the F***ing World takes viewers on quite a journey - but where, exactly, was that journey? The locations featured in the show are highly specific to its quirky, retro-ish aesthetic, which apparently required a lot of scouting to find exactly the right places to film.
"There are lots of nods to American TV shows, hopefully, and American landscapes. So we were trying to find parts of the UK that didn't look quintessentially British - we filmed the finale on the Isle of Sheppey, and so hopefully there's a feeling of expanse like you'd get in the Midwest. I think it was almost trying to do a Fargo-take on Britain, so they move from suburbia to an English version of the Wild West," writer Charlie Covell explained to Channel 4.
So what locations ended up being used, in the end? A few local film offices in the UK have records that point us in the right direction. Leysdown on Sea, a coastal village in the Isle of Sheppey, was one such location, as the Kent Film Office recorded. Over the course of approximately seven weeks, some scenes were also shot in Surrey in "various commercial and residential locations within Camberley, Chobham, Guildford, Thames Ditton, Virginia Water, Windlesham, Chertsey, and Knaphill," as per the Surrey Film Office. These locations, it's important to note, were used for the first season; it's not confirmed whether or not they were also used for season two.
There are, however, some confirmed locations for season two, and they're all in Wales. Wales Online gave a complete breakdown of some of the notable locations where the show filmed its second season. They include:
- Cardiff Central police station in Cathays Park
- Swansea's council building, as well as Bay Studios, Swansea
- Afan Forest Park
- Penderyn, a rural village in the Cynon Valley
- The Kardomah, a famous cafe in Swansea, actually does double duty in the show. It's transformed into a Chinese restaurant for a present-day scene, then is back to its "real" self in a flashback.
- Bwlch Mountain in Rhondda, which features heavily at the very end of the season.
- The store Rowberry on Port Tennant Road in Swansea (specifically, the bridal section)
Given that The End of the F***ing World is unlikely to return for a third season, we don't think any other locations will have the honor of appearing in the series, but over the course of these two seasons, the series has showcased plenty of moody, cool locations across the UK!
All We Can Do Is Praise Hailey Baldwin For Her Sustainable Bikini Choice
Hailey Baldwin's green bikini is from one of my favorite swimsuit labels EVER, and here I am just cheering from the sidelines. The supermodel hung out with friends Lauren Perez and Justine Skye, dancing around in her signature swim look: a sexy little two-piece and jewelry, including those chunky gold hoops, her ginormous engagement ring, and her v-shaped wedding band. Hailey was glowing to say the least. "Best time with my favorite girls," she posted on Instagram under a shot of some vintage style polaroids.
It's just like Hailey to find a suit that's sporty meets sexy, and Ookioh's Amalfi Bottom was bound to pop up in her swim drawer for that one reason. While the affordable brand (everything's under $100!) offers a lot of tops with similar white piping - some of which even look like cool sports bras - Hailey went for the balconette Crandon Top, which definitely turns up the heat.
The most important thing you should know is that Ookioh is a label striving to create its products sustainably. The company recycles ocean waste, such as sunken fishing nets, to make all its swimsuits. How neat is that? With the slew of poppy colors offered in the current line, like tangerine and lemon, we bet it's about to become one of your go-tos, so now you can say you're in Hailey's club. Keep reading to pick up her exact design, or shop some other options with similar details.
Shia LaBeouf's Mouth Went Numb During a Spicy Game of Ellen's "Burning Questions"
Things got extra spicy for Shia LaBeouf on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, literally and figuratively, after he downed an entire ghost pepper. During a round of "Burning Questions," the Peanut Butter Falcon star sweated his way through the game as he discussed his thoughts on the Mile High Club and his love for "cuddly '50s Rockwell missionary, boring sex." Much to his surprise, this admission earned him a standing ovation from Ellen DeGeneres and her entire audience. Shia also talked about his childhood crush on Natalie Portman, his fear of spiders, his best onscreen kiss, and the craziest rumor that he's heard about himself (truly hilarious). Watch the full video above to see Shia answer all of Ellen's burning questions with a numb mouth.

10 Things You Might Not Know About Billie Eilish - Including Her Belieber Roots
Just from her epic performances, it's pretty clear that Billie Eilish is rad as hell. You can tell that she's a dyed in the wool artist based on her creepy music videos and inventive lyrics. But even outside of her work, Eilish definitely contains multitudes. She's loved for keeping things real with her devoted followers, above all else. Her frank Instagram posts and interview responses reflect just that, often reminding us how she's both relatable and unique. Ahead, we've put together 10 interesting facts you might not know about the "Bad Guy" singer, from her experience with synesthesia to her loud-and-proud Belieber roots.
The Crown: Why Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon's Marriage Was Doomed
If you thought Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's marriage was dramatic in the first two seasons of The Crown, then just wait until you see what the Netflix drama has in store for Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon in season three. The fiery couple's steamy romance and passionate fights are on full display in the latest trailer, setting up their eventual divorce in 1978. But what brought Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon's marriage to an end? Sadly, the cracks in their relationship were on full display before they even walked down the aisle.
Unbeknownst to Margaret, another woman, Camilla Fry, was expecting Lord Snowdon's baby before they were even married. That scandal actually stayed under wraps until after the princess passed away in 2002. That infidelity was indicative of what was to come for the doomed royals, as they both embarked on extramarital affairs in the years that followed. Season three of The Crown will cover the years between 1964 and 1976 - a period that saw the Queen's sister's happy marriage fall apart as her husband was frequently away on photography assignments where he would engage in a series of brief affairs, as reported by The Evening Standard.
Those affairs reportedly bothered Margaret deeply, and she began having her own dalliances. Most notably, the princess began seeing a landscape gardener, Roddy Llewellyn, who was 17 years her junior, in 1973. Even though Lord Snowdon was known to have had many affairs, the tabloid's obsession with Margaret led to her relationship with Llewellyn being exposed after a series of photos featuring the couple swimming together were released to the public. The royal family was rocked by the scandal, while Lord Snowdon reportedly used the public outcry as an excuse to file for divorce. Per The Evening Standard, Snowdon had the princess's private secretary, Lord Napier, convey the news that he was officially ending their marriage via a phone call, and she reportedly replied, "Oh, I see. Thank you, Nigel. I think that's the best news you've ever given me." By 1978, their divorce was finalized, leaving Snowdon to marry Lucy Hogg, who he was carrying on an affair with while Margaret was seeing Llewellyn.
Season three is set to chronicle every messy moment that led to their marriage falling apart, but you can expect to see how much they loved one another too. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ben Daniels (Lord Snowdon) summed up the intensity of Princess Margaret and Snowdon's relationship. "They're such extraordinary people," he said. "Completely addicted to each other. Even right up until the minute they were getting divorced, they still had a really strong physical relationship. People often said that it was like foreplay for them, having a big row."
From the happy early days to the string of affairs that doomed their marriage, The Crown season three is set to show this royal couple at their best and their absolute worst.

This Video of a 4-Month-Old Baby Laughing For the First Time Is Absolutely Contagious
For some parents, there's nothing sweeter than hearing their baby laugh for the first time, and that's exactly how Andy and Melissa Fischer from Minnesota felt when their 4-month-old daughter Veda let out her first belly laugh. In a Reddit post on Nov. 4, Andy shared a video capturing the exact moment Veda first laughed, which understandably sent her mom into an uncontrollable fit of giggles.
"[Veda] made a small giggle an hour before, and my wife wasn't around and didn't believe me when I told her," Andy told POPSUGAR via email. "Later, we were sitting down for lunch, and I made a silly face at Veda and she couldn't stop laughing."
"We are so happy that this has been so impactful and uplifting to so many!"
For Melissa and Andy, Veda's first laugh was particularly special because the baby was born three and a half weeks early. Veda was later admitted into the hospital when she was around one month old, due to health concerns. "Being new parents has been difficult to say the least!" Andy said. "The moment we captured in the video was so redemptive for us."
Veda's laughter has brought immense joy to her parents and thousands of people who agree that her little smile is just too cute to ignore. "Since posting this on Reddit, there have been so many incredible comments!" Andy said of the video, which has over 100,000 upvotes on Reddit. "People have been sharing how this video has made them smile, laugh, and even bring happy tears to their own eyes. We also loved reading all of the comments other parents made remembering this moment in their own lives. We are so happy that this has been so impactful and uplifting to so many!"
Veda may not be a year old yet, but she's already seen her fair share of dad humor, and it's safe to say that she's a huge fan. See more photos of the baby's adorable smile ahead.

Jennifer Lopez and Maluma's Marry Me Movie Is the Rom-Com We've Been Waiting For
Production for Marry Me is well underway, and can we just take a moment to talk about the star-studded cast? The musical comedy stars Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Sarah Silverman, Chloe Coleman, and John Bradley, and marks Maluma's first feature film. The movie is based on Bobby Crosby's novel of the same name and is described as a cross between Notting Hill and A Star Is Born. It centers around Lopez's character finding out that her fiancé (Maluma) has been cheating on her with her assistant and her going on to marry a random crowd member (Wilson) instead. Lopez and Maluma recently gave fans a glimpse of what to expect when they surprised concertgoers with a duet of "No Me Ames," which she originally recorded with ex-husband Marc Anthony, in NYC. The performance will actually double as a scene in the rom-com. See more behind-the-scenes moments ahead before the movie drops in 2020.

I'm Scheduling a Break Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and So Should You
The invitations are already mounting in my inbox. Holiday dinners and parties with friends, celebrations with extended family, annual seasonal soirees with coworkers, school-sponsored holiday events, Christmas-tree lightings downtown, festive holiday home tours, walk-through light displays at local parks, and meet-and-greets with Santa himself.
It's the same overwhelmingly jolly good time every year, and my instinct is to say yes to all of it. (I've always been a the-more-the-merrier type of person when it comes to Christmas.) Sure I'll be able to find a sitter for every weekend night in December. Sure I'll chaperone both kids' classroom holiday parties and coordinate and supply a craft that will thrill and occupy 24 5-year-olds. Of course I can make it to a festive house tour at 10 a.m., followed by a girls' lunch at noon, a Christmas-tree lighting at 6 p.m., and a company holiday party at 7:30. Sounds infinitely merry and bright.
This year, however, as I started plugging all the invitations I'd already accepted into my family's calendar, I was met with a not-so-cheerful reality. Thanksgiving is late this year, giving us just three weeks between returning from our family's turkey day celebration (this year at my brother's home in the Pacific Northwest), and our annual holiday trip to Florida, where Santa finds us among the palm trees, and we enjoy Christmas and the New Year in denial that we'll be returning to three months of hard Midwestern winter.
Now, three weeks would be plenty of time if the only things on my family's holiday calendar were parties and fun events. But, as every parent knows, that's just the icing on the Christmas cake. Because as my schedule currently lies, unless Santa shares some his magic, there's no way that I'm going to also trim a tree and decorate my home, send out Christmas cards, and, most importantly, buy and wrap the presents that will keep my kids, ages 5 and 8, believing in the magic of this whole flipping holiday.
The idea of packing all of that Christmas craziness into a mere 21 days is stressing me out to an intense degree almost a month before any of it begins, which tells me that I need to seriously put the breaks on our holiday calendar before I turn into a Grinch before we even carve our Thanksgiving turkey.
My solution: schedule one full weekend (I'm choosing the one right before Christmas) when I add not a single event to our family's calendar other than just focusing on the true meaning of the season - spending quality time with each other. I'm sure they'll be some last-minute shopping and wrapping that needs to be done, some pre-trip packing I'll need to start, but other than that, I'm envisioning a weekend filled with Christmas music and the smell of cookies baking in our kitchen, with driving around to look at neighborhood lights, with drinking wine and having a picnic dinner between the Christmas tree and our fireplace. Basically, with slowing down enough to remember why we do all of this in the first place.
So before you fill your December with events that will eventually blur together in a holiday haze, I highly suggest you too schedule the one thing you really need this holiday season: A chance to sit back and simply enjoy.

Experts Explain What Binge Eating is, How it Differs From Overeating, and How to Prevent It
When people say they "binge-watched Netflix all weekend" or "binge-read the entire Harry Potter series," it's much different than saying you binge ate, and can even make light of a very serious eating disorder. We've asked registered dietitians and two eating disorder therapists to explain what binge eating is, how it differs from overeating, and how to prevent it.
What is Binge Eating?
Binge eating is eating a large quantity of food in a short period of time and often feeling guilty afterwards, explained registered dietitian Brenna O'Malley, founder of The Wellful, who specializes in helping people move away from dieting and disordered eating patterns to develop a healthy relationship with food and their body. She went on to say, "There isn't a specific number of calories that qualifies an episode of eating as a binge."
During a binge, psychotherapist Lynsey McMillan, MSc, who specializes in disordered eating, explained that there may be an "experience of some relief or comfort, temporarily slipping into an altered state of awareness or numbness to both the outside world and the person's inner-world." Brenna said, "clients describe it as similar to a blackout or trance-like state: feeling completely out of control or out of their body."
Lynsey said that "eating quickly overrides the body's fullness signals and an objectively very large amount of food can be consumed" before a person is in significant pain and forced to stop. Physical pain such as a distended stomach or feeling sick or short of breath will bring the person back into some conscious awareness. "This then gives way to emotions such as disgust, regret, guilt, anger, and always shame," Lynsey said.
The difference between normal overeating and a binge is that most of us have times where we eat past comfort, and feel overly stuffed, like when you indulge in a delicious dinner or on a holiday like Thanksgiving. Lynsey said, "binge eating is characterized by a pattern of behavior that begins with an overwhelming urge to eat, often accompanied by a fixation with getting hold of a supply of binge foods. There might be an internal struggle, but ultimately the binge is experienced as a sense of inevitability or powerlessness over the binge behavior."
Is Binge Eating the Same as Binge Eating Disorder?
According to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) website, Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is the most common eating disorder in the United States, and registered dietitian and intuitive eating counselor Kathleen Meehan, MS, LDN, said it's characterized by reoccurring episodes of eating large quantities of food, a loss of control over eating, and a feeling of distress.
Registered dietitian, Kara Lydon, LDN, an intuitive eating counselor and owner of Kara Lydon Nutrition explained that BED is a clinically-diagnosed eating disorder recognized by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) with specific diagnostic criteria. According to NEDA, Binge Eating Disorder is associated with three or more of the following:
- Eating more rapidly than usual.
- Eating until discomfort or uncomfortably full.
- Eating large amounts of food in the absence of hunger.
- Eating alone out of embarrassment because of the amount being consumed.
- Feeling ashamed, depressed, disgusted with oneself, or very guilty afterward.
Kara explained that "if someone experiences recurrent and persistent episodes of binge eating - on average, at least once a week for three months - and they aren't engaging in compensatory behaviors such as purging, fasting, or overexercising, they would likely meet criteria for BED." Kathleen noted that BED isn't associated with one body size; it affects people in all different bodies.
BED is different than just binge eating, explained Lynsey. Binge eating is an eating behavior we might all recognize ourselves doing from time to time when under stress. She said that binge eating can become an issue when it's "regularly used as a strategy to escape problems in life and when it stops being a rare or temporary release and becomes regular, all-consuming, costly, physically harmful, and prevents the sufferer from developing better ways of managing their emotions, their relationships, and their response to life."
Brenna said, "someone can experience binge eating without meeting all of the criteria for BED, and it's important to know that if you are struggling, you can still receive and benefit from help and support, whether you have a diagnosable condition or not."
What Causes Binge Eating Disorder?
"A binge eating problem has no single cause and every sufferer is different," said Lynsey. It may be brought on by an "individual's psychological makeup, an interplay of both nature and nurture," she explained, or could be a result of family history, difficult relationships, or trauma. But the root cause is almost always restriction or dieting, explained BACP-accredited eating disorder therapist Harriet Frew, MSc, because from a physiological standpoint, binge eating is your body's way of trying to survive what it perceives as a famine.
"As mammals, we have primitive built-in, anti-starvation mechanisms. When we restrict our food intake, our blood sugar drops and we may feel dizzy, anxious, or desperate - these symptoms are designed to make us sit up and take notice," Lynsey explained. "If we go without food for long periods, eventually our primitive brains will take over and ensure that we grab at any available - preferably calorie-dense - food, getting as much down as possible in case this is our one chance at survival."
When dieting or restricting food and your body becomes starved for nutrients, Kathleen explained that it kicks certain mechanisms into place, stimulating the hunger hormone and suppressing the fullness hormone, and releasing neuropeptides (chemical signals that influence the activity of the brain and the body) that make you think about food - all of these three urge you to eat food. If you're restricting, the primal hunger your body is experiencing is going to make you much more vulnerable to binge. This is one reason why there is a strong link between dieting and binge eating.
"Bingeing isn't a lack of willpower," Kathleen explained. "It's your body's natural response to restriction and not having enough to eat. Think of it like a pendulum: the farther you pull to restriction, the greater the response of the binge."
Bingeing can be a response to any dietary restraint, Harriet explained, whether it's from delaying eating (which is why intermittent fasting isn't right for everyone) or not eating enough daily calories to fuel the body. It can also be caused by "overly clean eating," Harriet said, or limiting food groups such as saying no to carbs or to sweets; Brenna said this can make people feel out of control around those foods.
"Dietary restraint is often the initial trigger, but very quickly, binge eating can be triggered by emotions," Harriet explained; maybe boredom from restrictive eating patterns, being upset with yourself and then punishing through overeating, or if you're upset about something going wrong. Kara said that while there's absolutely "nothing wrong with occasionally turning toward food as a coping tool - food is meant to be soothing and comforting - if food is your only coping skill that is well-honed, you may experience recurrent binge eating."
Negative thinking can also trigger BED, Harriet explained, for example an "all or nothing thinking. 'Once I've broken my diet, I might as well eat everything,' or overgeneralizing by thinking 'I always fail at sticking to things,' or labelling yourself 'I'm a fat and greedy person.'" Harriet added, "Negative thoughts lead to negative feelings lead to negative behaviors."
What Are the Risks of Binge Eating?
Binge eating is something to be taken seriously and brought up with your doctor and dietitian, said Brenna. Aside from extreme physical and emotional discomfort following a binge, she said you may also experience bloating, nausea, acid reflux, feeling sluggish, low energy and fatigue. Harriet added, "You may have issues with your gastrointestinal tract, due to high volumes of food ingested."
Kara added that "BED specifically is associated with mental and emotional distress, weight cycling, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insulin resistance, and type II diabetes." Another issue Lynsey mentioned is that "when you shift from periods of overeating to periods of undereating, you're at risk for not giving your body adequate or balanced nutrition."
Brenna and Lynsey said there can be emotional risks. "Since many people feel shame around bingeing, it can also lead to social isolation, eating in secret, or hiding and sneaking food, Brenna said. Lynsey added, "people may become disconnected from others, their self-esteem is impacted and relationships, work, or social life can also suffer."
"The sufferer may become locked in a vicious cycle with other behaviors such as restricting, purging, or over-exercising and the risks inherent with those behaviors," warned Lynsey. The more we engage in any behavior (helpful or harmful), the more likely it is to become a go-to strategy, wiring our minds in certain ways that make it hard (but not impossible) to change.
How Can You Prevent or Stop Binge Eating?
Binge eating is almost always a result of restriction or trying to tightly control your food intake or weight, explained Brenna. Your body can't tell the difference between when you're starving because you're choosing to restrict or if you're starving because you don't have access to food.
Brenna said the first step is to loosen or completely eliminate diet restrictions and to not label foods as "good" or "bad." Kara added that you need to make sure you are eating enough during the day and not restricting certain foods or food groups (unless medically necessary). Since physiological and psychological deprivation around food is the most common trigger for binge eating, Kara explained that giving yourself permission to eat all foods can help combat that deprivation mindset.
Intuitive eating or mindful eating can be so helpful, Lynsey said, so you stay connected to your body's cues and signals and heal your relationship with food. She also said that we should try to protect ourselves from the "dominant cultural messages regarding physical appearance. This could include avoiding diet talk or shaming language in relation to food and weight, and seeking out media that shows a diverse range of body shapes and sizes." If we feel good about our body, we won't feel the need to diet to change it.
To stop binge eating, all the experts agreed that support is critical. Kara said "reach out to a dietitian and/or a therapist who is trained in eating disorders and practices from a Health at Every Size (HAES) paradigm."
What Should I Do If I Binge?
"If you do binge, don't beat yourself up for it, and try to resist the temptation to fix the binge by dieting, skipping meals, or purging," Lynsey said. "Aim to press the reset button, eat again at the next possible meal time, and remember this was not about food but was a sign of some stress or distress that requires attention and compassion."
She said to recognize that eating problems are meaningful; they are communicating distress. "Focus on attending to the message rather than getting distracted by the messenger. Consider what your needs are and how they are being met with food. If your binge could talk, what would it be saying?"
Talking to a professional who specializes in eating disorders can help shed light on why you may be binge eating, and how to prevent future binges. Journaling and listening to podcasts (I like Brain Over Binge) can also offer support.
Final Thoughts About Binge Eating
Lynsey said know that you're not alone. Eating problems are complex and it may take time to find the right help. "You may need to try various approaches to find what feels right for you. Be kind to yourself and don't give up."
If you or someone you know is struggling with BED or binge eating, or any other eating disorder, National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) has resources available including a 24/7 helpline at (800) 931-2237.
A Trainer Explains How to Up the Intensity of Your Workouts to More Effectively Build Muscle
It's no secret that strength training is an essential part of any fitness routine, but whatever your goals, you have to continue challenging your body if you want to build lean muscle. Enter the concept of progressive overload. "If you're looking to build muscle and get stronger, you have to begin increasing the volume of weight you're lifting in each workout," Jon Pearlman, cofounder of Mission Lean and an ACE-certified personal trainer and fitness nutrition specialist, told POPSUGAR. "You can do this by either increasing your reps, the amount of weight you're lifting, or both."
Ultimately, you want to work up to doing at least a couple sets at a weight that's 70 to 80 percent of your one-rep max, or the most weight you can lift in a single repetition. But in order to avoid injury, Jon suggests starting with lighter weights and working to increase your reps first.
For example, if you've never lifted before, you should start by simply lifting the weight of the bar for a given exercise, he explained. Complete eight to 10 reps with the bar by itself, and then add a small amount of weight (10 to 20 pounds) and do the same number of reps. "To find a good weight for yourself, repeat this process of adding 10 to 20 pounds more weight on the bar until you find that you're having difficulty completing the final few reps within the eight to 10 rep range," Jon said. "Make note of this weight as your 'base,' and continue adding blocks of 10 to 20 percent of your base weight until you can only do between four and six reps."
When using free weights, apply the same method. Start with a set of 5-pound dumbbells, and move on to 7.5 pounds, 10 pounds, and so on, until you find your "base" at which you struggle to complete the last few reps of an eight to 10 rep set. Continue adding 10 to 20 percent of your base weight, as outlined above. Again, "the goal is to get to a weight at which you can only complete four to six reps, as this will indicate you are lifting at that 70 to 80 percent level and, in turn, experiencing the strength gains of progressive overload," Jon said. "Then, try to knock out two or three sets at this weight, and continue to work out consistently, aiming to build yourself up so that you're lifting heavier weights in the four- to six-rep range."
