Emilia Clarke Recalls Being Pressured to Do Nude Scenes on Game of Thrones

Emilia Clarke says she felt pressured to do nude scenes on Game of Thrones. During an interview with Dax Shepard for his podcast Armchair Expert on Nov. 18, the actress revealed that the frequent onscreen nudity wasn't always something she consented to. "I'm a lot more savvy with what I'm comfortable with, and what I am okay with doing," Clarke told Shepard. "I've had fights on set before where I'm like, 'No, the sheet stays up,' and they're like, 'You don't wanna disappoint your Game of Thrones fans,' and I'm like, 'F*ck you.'"

"I approached [the nudity] as a job - if it's in the script, then it's clearly needed."

As the Mother of Dragons, Clarke was expected to put up with a "f*ck-ton of nudity," making her hesitant to film certain scenes over the course of the series. "I'd been on a film set twice before then," Clarke explained, referring to the 2009 British medical soap opera Doctors and the 2010 sci-fi TV film Triassic Attack. "I'm now on a film set completely naked with all of these people, and I don't know what I'm meant to do and I don't know what's expected of me, and I don't know what you want and I don't know what I want . . . I approached [the nudity] as a job - if it's in the script, then it's clearly needed. This is what this is, and I'm gonna make sense of it . . . Everything's gonna be cool."

Thanks to her costar Jason Momoa, aka Khal Drogo, Clarke became more comfortable with showing her body onscreen. "It was definitely hard," she said. "Which is why the scenes, when I got to do them with Jason, were wonderful, because he was like, 'No, sweetie, this isn't okay,' and I was like, 'Ohhhh.'" Now, Clarke knows that being nude isn't a requirement to make it in the acting world and that her true fans will love her regardless of how much or how little of her body she decides to show onscreen.

I Bought This $99 Area Rug on Amazon, and It Totally Transformed My Old Living Room

I live in a rent-controlled apartment in San Francisco, which is basically the equivalent of winning the lottery, and while I want to say I'm lucky for finding the unit, sometimes my carpet makes me think otherwise. My whole place is covered in dirty brown carpeting that has become incredibly matted throughout the decade my roommates have lived there. This year, I've been on a mission to upgrade my space and make it feel cleaner by investing in some new pieces. I purchased some cool wall art and stylish decor pieces, but the one thing I spent forever looking for was the perfect area rug.

Once day while browsing on Amazon, I came across this ivory Safavieh California Shag ($29-$214) and it caught my eye. I decided to give it a try because it was affordable and it seemed like the piece I needed to brighten up my old living room. I bought the 5'x7' choice for under my coffee table, and at just $99, it was the perfect choice.

After getting it delivered to my front door within just a few days, I was instantly impressed by the quality. It's thick, fluffy, soft, and, most importantly, bright. Within seconds, my living room felt like a whole new space. The light from my bay windows reflected perfectly onto the fuzzy surface to create a fresh new feel. The upkeep has been much easier than I thought, too. I have a shoe-free home, which helps keeps dirt at bay, and the rug's material is easy to vacuum. It comes in several sizes and colors, so you can snag the perfect one for your home, too!

13 Faux Fur Coats That Say, "I've Arrived, and I'm Well Dressed!"

Look, I love a little luxury, but I also love animals. So this season, when shopping for a new coat, I'm choosing faux fur. Not only is the material a total head-turner. but it keeps you especially warm. A faux fur coat is an excellent investment because it will look chic and relevant all the way through Winter. The fluffy texture will add drama and glamour to your look, so you can't go wrong, no matter where you may be heading off to.

From cute cropped styles to statement wrapped coats, these 13 options belong in your closet. And not to worry - these coats come in all sorts of colors, from basic black to cool lavender and deep red. Try your hand at a few of our favorite picks.

Here's What Scammer Anna Delvey - Netflix's Latest TV Subject - Is Doing Now

From Hustlers to The Inventor, we've been seeing a slew of female scammers in pop culture recently. The latest grifter to get the onscreen treatment is none other than fake heiress Anna Delvey - born Anna Sorokin - an NYC "socialite" who stole money from her friends to keep up with a lavish lifestyle.

Shonda Rhimes has rights to the New York Magazine story about Sorokin along with a bountiful Netflix deal. While we await actress Julia Garner's take on Sorokin/Delvey in the upcoming Inventing Anna, where exactly has the real NYC con artist been since her scams fell through?

Let's first talk about Sorokin's origin story. Sorokin first arrived in New York City in 2013 at age 22, telling acquaintances that her father, really a former trucker in rural Germany, was everything from an oil industry titan to a Russian diplomat. Her claims of a 60-million euro trust fund ushered her into the city's elite social circles. The con artist attended fancy parties, rode private jets, tipped exorbitantly, and made plans to set up an art club called the Anna Delvey Foundation. In addition to scamming friends for thousands of dollars, Sorokin forged bank statements and deposited bad checks, taking out money before her checks bounced.

Her scheming days came to an end in 2017 when a friend came to an assistant district attorney to pursue legal actions after Delvey stole dozens of thousands of dollars from her. Before her sketchy activities stopped, Sorokin took from friends, businesses, and banks an approximate $275,000.

Determined guilty for grand larceny and theft of services, Sorokin learned her sentence on May 9, 2019 after a brief trial. She received four to 12 years in prison, needed to pay $199,000 in restitution, and was fined $24,000. The fake heiress also faced the possibility of deportation to Germany for overstaying her visa. Her current residence is at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, though she spent her time on trial at Rikers Island, where it's rumored she found a girlfriend.

Netflix reportedly agreed to pay her $100,000, plus $15,000 per episode for consulting and $7,500 in royalty fees for her story, but the state of New York invoked the Son of Sam law, which prevents criminals from profiting off of their crimes. Judge Diane Kiesel has signed a restitution order for $198,956.19, which would go towards paying back the banks that Sorokin scammed.

Sorokin hasn't shown remorse for her crimes, telling The New York Times, "I'd be lying to you and to everyone else and to myself if I said I was sorry for anything." In prison, she's accumulated over 13 infractions for fighting and disobedience. While at Rikers, she planned to write two memoirs: one on her misadventures in New York and another on her time in prison.

My holiday snacking is about to get a major upgrade now that I know how to get M&M's Crispy Chocolate Spread ($15) in the US. Previously limited to UK availability, the sweet snack can actually be bought on Amazon and eaten as topping or a dessert all on its own!

8 Shows That Accurately Depict the Trials, Tribulations, and Tension of High School

There's something relatable AF about high school TV shows that keeps us coming back for more, no matter how old we get. But sadly, many of our favorite shows are totally out of touch with reality. When teenage characters are played by 30-year-old actors with zero acne and unrealistic vocabularies, we're forced to question whether these screenwriters have actually stepped foot on a high school campus before. Although we all love to marvel at outrageous dramas like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars, they don't remind us much of the cliques, procrastination, and cafeteria food that we had to suffer through.

If you are looking to truly transport back in time, we've compiled a list of hormone-drenched shows that are near-biographic representations of our high school lives. Grab your old marching band uniform and some movie popcorn and get ready for hours and hours of teenage angst!

25 Holiday Party Hairstyles For Every Texture and Length

Most of us have our go-to party hairstyle. Mine, for example, is a low chignon because my hair lacks volume and I'm too lazy to deal with it. For others, I know that it can be anything from bouncy waves and a high ponytail to a favorite wig. But this festive party season - seeing as it's the last one of the decade - there's never been a better time to switch things up and try something new.

The thing is, trying a new hairstyle is easier said than done. First you have to decide on a look that complements your outfit. Then you have to make sure you have the right tools and styling products to be able to execute said look at home. Throw an accessory into the mix and it makes things even more complicated (and potentially more expensive).

Knowing all of this, we did some of the leg work for you by looking back at our favorite celebrity hairstyles from 2019 and rounding up a wide range of easy party-appropriate hairstyles for everyone, regardless of length, texture, or skill level (there's one look in here that literally requires you to just brush your hair and throw on a barrette).

Get your hair out of your face with a polished half-up ponytail like Sophie Turner or with short Dutch braids à la Nathalie Emmanuel. Or, you can really get into the festive spirit by throwing a bit of sparkle in the mix, whether that's with a hair accessory like Pixie Geldof and Barbie Ferreira, weaving gold thread through your braids like Alicia Keys and Saoirse Ronan, or straight-up topping your strands with loose glitter or gold leaf like Emma Thompson and Anya Taylor-Joy. Keep reading to see these hairstyles and more - and then check out some of our favorite festive celebrity makeup looks to complete the rest of your party look.

Much Like Your College Ex, Dollface Has a Lot of Potential It Just Doesn't Live Up To

Everything about Hulu's Dollface promises to be an onscreen mecca for millennial women: it has a young, uber-talented cast, a premise full of potential, and it also boasts Margot Robbie as an executive producer. For the most part, the 10-episode first season just squeaks by thanks to its relatable sense of humor and hit-or-miss asides that can either take you out of the story completely or serve its purpose in being an entertaining attempt at bringing the chaos of imagination to life. But mostly, the show fails to do the one thing it's meant to - be an entertaining look at how difficult it can be navigating modern relationships, primarily among women.

There's only so much that fantasy sequences can accomplish when the real-life scenes feel like Instagram influencer ads for the Rosé Mansion come to life. This isn't to say that I didn't enjoy watching the series at all; in fact I relished seeing Kat Dennings showcase her comedic chops after dragging herself through the same boob jokes for years on the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls. Making things even more exciting, Dennings is joined by the criminally underrated Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell playing a much more zen Peach Salinger, and Esther Povitsky, who steals the show in almost every scene. The female-led cast is so phenomenal in their roles, in fact, that they made me genuinely care that their characters treat each other terribly.

Related: The Surreal Dollface Trailer Has Us Calling Our Best Friends For Girls' Night ASAP

The series begins by introducing Denning's character Jules after she's dumped by her longtime boyfriend and subsequently attempts to reconnect with her former best friends Madison (Song) and Stella (Mitchell). Jules has been ignoring her girlfriends for nearly five years, and apparently, it also means she's lost all understanding of how women interact with each other despite working at Woom, which comes off as a comically exaggerated imitation of The Wing.

Her coworker Izzy - who generally serves as the most extreme character of the entire series, having gone as far as pretend her name is Alison to fit in with her coworkers - befriends the trio, but never seems to figure out if she's part of the gang or their weird pet. Throughout it all, the women navigate their new friendships by doling out terrible advice, worshipping at the church of brunch, and generally being weirdly hysterical caricatures of real people.

"The main problem with the series is that it never really takes the time to tackle any subject seriously."

As someone who has had close women-identifying friends for most of her life, there are a lot of things that Dollface gets right. Yes, brunch is a near-religious experience - why would any of us deny the salvation of a good stack of pancakes and several mimosas? Yes, companies like Woom can be overwhelmingly white and achingly oblivious to how their brands are far from the "woke" vibe they strive to emulate. And yes, being friends with other women can be a trial, especially when your personalities differ so dramatically from one another. The main problem with the series is that it never really takes the time to tackle any subject seriously.

In the very first episode, Madison reveals that her mother got sick the year before and when she reached out to Jules, she never responded. Somehow this plot point is never brought up again, even though it's obviously a significant part of why Madison is so guarded against reconnecting. Who cares about Madison's older boyfriend not getting that divorce when he said he did? Jules wasn't there when Madison needed her and that's the drama that I want to hash out! That would've been a way to make me believe these women truly care about one another.

The show's best moments are usually during scenes with some bite. One of my favorite fantasy sequences occurs after Jules gets a f*ckbuddy and receives the worst news a single young woman can hear from her doctor: she's caught feelings. Her doctor recommends that she stay away from her rebound and attempt to hook up with "at least two other people." But when Jules asks if she should let her partner know so he doesn't catch the affliction, her doctor bursts into laughter. "No," she responds. "Men cannot get this."

Yes, it's a low-blow against men and their role in hook-up culture, but damn if that edge of truth doesn't make it 10 times funnier? Coupled with basically every time Mitchell opens her mouth - seriously, she's gold in nearly every scene and possibly the most emotionally-developed character - and some unexpected celebrity cameos, Dollface has brief, shining moments when it gloriously lives up to its promise of being clever, original, and fun.

It's when the show falls into formulaic situations that things take a turn for a shallow. This is particularly disastrous when the series is attempting to be "deep" or "woke," like the penultimate episode titled "Feminist." I won't delve too deeply into the many missteps of the episode - though I did appreciate the Wizard of Oz homage - but the result is essentially a crash course in White Feminism 101. It's 2019 and we're still wondering if it's OK to care about our looks? We can do better than that, people!

By Dollface's season one finale, I felt the same way I do after eating a salad for lunch: vaguely unsatisfied, but certain I would have enjoyed the experience a lot more with heartier filling. Hopefully Hulu gives the series a second chance to find its footing and figure out exactly what it's trying to say.
