It's No Wonder Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Get Along So Well When You Look at Their Signs

Astrology isn't an exact science, but some believe the placement of the stars can say a lot about one's ability to mesh with a partner. Is this also true for royal couples? Meghan Markle and Prince Harry seem to complement each other, despite the fact that their star signs point to opposing character traits. In fact, it may be this opposition that makes them work so well together.

Meghan, who's birthday falls on Aug. 4, is a Leo. Leos like Meghan are often described as passionate and creative people, who are also generous, warm-hearted, and cheerful. But they do have their quirks.

"While Leos are notably loyal and generous to a fault, their expectations for receiving from others and for praise from the partners and their public are substantial. We can assume that Meghan has set a high bar for Harry in this respect," Jay Austin, astrologist and partner at AustinFischer Astrogenomics, told POPSUGAR.

Harry, on the other hand, is a Virgo with a birthday of Sept. 15. In a nutshell, Virgos are analytical and practical. They like organization and perfection - the best example being how Harry carries out his royal and military duties. And, if you're thinking this sounds like the opposite of a Leo, you would be correct.

"As a Virgo, Harry is more modest and steeped in rules and regulations. (Granted, it took him a while to get there!) On the other hand, Meghan, as a Leo, wants a public platform for herself. Leos crave attention and recognition and love pageantry and putting on a show. Not coincidentally, they love acting and performing," Austin said. This is spot on given Meghan's acting career. And pageantry is definitely one way to describe the couple's elaborate royal wedding.

"Emotionally, Virgos are more reserved and less demonstrative. Leos, on the other hand, love to project themselves emotionally, and expect grand gestures from their partners," he said.

Meghan definitely fits the bill of being more emotional and expressive with her partner. She is often seen holding hands with Harry and isn't afraid to give him a peck on the cheek in public now and again. In contrast, the other members of the royal family aren't really in favor of PDA of any sort. Meghan, obviously, is changing things up.

The media has been known to jump on any action that goes against the norms of royal protocol, driving Meghan to speak out about the effects of the tabloids on her self-esteem and daily life. Her attitude toward it all might associated with her Leo traits.

"Leos, unfortunately, are particularly sensitive to criticism," Austin said. "They don't like anything to puncture the image they've created for themselves."

The way Harry reacted to Meghan's unhappiness, by way of writing a strongly worded letter to the press followed by a formal lawsuit, is also in line with his sign's characteristics of not being afraid to speak out against others, especially if they feel someone has been wronged.

Meghan and Harry are no strangers to the limelight, but it seems that it's not affecting the strong mutual attraction that remains between the two of them. And whether it be greeting royal fans or traveling to far off places for charity work, the two seem to enjoy their time together. Can they learn from each other along the way? Absolutely. A future where Leo Meghan and Virgo Harry continue to create the perfect balance in their give-and-take relationship definitely seem in the stars.

What Happened When I Went Keto For 30 Days - and Then Went Off It

I'm not exactly new to dieting (though I don't particularly like that term). What my boyfriend affectionately refers to as yo-yo dieting, I prefer to call "my nutrition hobby." I love the science of nutrition and have tried many different eating styles over the years, from veganism to Atkins and everything in between. When the ketogenic diet became all the buzz, I knew I needed to try it.

It took me a while to commit to going full-on keto. My nutrition philosophy has always involved eating relatively low to moderate levels of carbohydrates. I lost about 40 pounds when I was a senior in high school by adhering to a low-carb diet and have kept the weight off for all of my adult life.

But while eating low-carb isn't particularly new to me, adding in fats - obscene amounts of fat, actually - definitely is. As a self-proclaimed nutrition nerd, I approached keto with a balanced philosophy. My goals were:

  • To increase my energy levels and regulate my blood sugar by eating a diet that doesn't trigger an insulin response.
  • To lose a little bit of weight (roughly 10 pounds, which I had gained over the past couple of years as a result of straying too often from my usual moderate-carb ways).
  • To eat healthy, wholesome fats on the keto diet (not greasy burgers, processed vegetable oils, or tons of cheese).
  • To obtain the benefits of the keto diet without tracking calories.
  • To eventually add carbs back into my diet, having by then "adapted" to ketosis and therefore being able to simply burn through carbohydrates before reverting to fat-burning mode.

I successfully ate keto, adhering to macronutrient ratios of roughly 70 percent fat, 20 percent protein, and 10 percent carbohydrates, for 30 days before beginning to add carbs back into my diet. Here's how it went.

I'm Ready to Hand This 2-Year-Old Girl an Oscar For Her "Let It Go" Performance

On a rare snowy day in West Texas, Kristi Burgess caught her 2-year-old daughter, Madelyn, performing a dramatic reenactment of Elsa's "Let It Go" scene from Disney's Frozen while looking like a true royal. Madelyn, a huge fan of the Frozen franchise, took the chilly opportunity to unleash her inner ice queen (aka let it go) to the tune of her favorite song, and frozen fractals went flying everywhere.

"Madelyn has to wear her Elsa dress every day - so much so that we have had to sew it multiple times."

"Madelyn has loved Frozen since the first time she watched it," Kristi told POPSUGAR via email. "After she watched the second Frozen [movie] is when she truly became a fan! We listen to it every time we get in the car and when we are home we are either watching the movie or replaying the music video over and over . . . Madelyn knows every word of the first movie and can sing every song!"

A true actress (and songstress), Madelyn will let her mom know to pause the song if she's not ready and only give the go-ahead once she's put on her princess gloves and crown. "Madelyn has to wear her Elsa dress every day, so much so that we have had to sew it multiple times," Kristi said. "My friend just bought her actual Elsa gloves two weeks ago and they are already worn out!" The gloves are a key part of Madelyn's performance, as seen in the video when she dramatically pulls them off à la Elsa and throws them on the snow-covered ground - true showmanship.

Kristi went on to say that, just like Queen Elsa, Madelyn has faced struggles on her way to becoming the little princess she is today. When she was only a year old, a doctor confirmed that Madelyn has hip dysplasia, which occurs when the hip joint is partially or completely dislocated, according to Mayo Clinic. Following the diagnosis, Madelyn underwent surgery and had to wear two full-body casts for three months with a bar between both of her legs. "My daughter handled this situation so well - she's such a brave and happy little baby," Kristi said. "Through this time we worked a lot with her mentally so she wouldn't get frustrated or discouraged."

Despite her ongoing struggles with her hip dysplasia, Madelyn hasn't let the condition stop her from excelling at daycare and showing off her theatrical skills. "Madelyn is a very smart and talented young lady. She even moved up early in her daycare because of how advanced she is," Kristi added. "I am truly blessed to have such an amazing daughter. I am glad the world has got the chance to see a glimpse of how amazing she is! She makes me proud every day."

See Madelyn's full performance and more photos of the toddler embracing her inner Queen Elsa ahead.

I Survived 2 Entire Pregnancies With Severe Morning Sickness, and I'd Do It Again

I sat on the couch one evening during my first pregnancy desperately scrolling through online forums for moms with severe morning sickness, hoping to find solutions and taking heart reading stories similar to my own. I'd done too much research about hyperemesis gravidarum (severe morning sickness in pregnancy) to think that there would be any magic bullet to end my suffering, but that never seemed to stop me from looking for it.

I have two incredible children. They are happy and healthy and have my entire heart in a way I never could have fathomed possible, but bringing them into this world was my own personal armageddon. The first five weeks of my first pregnancy brought nothing more than surreal visions of motherhood and a periodic queasy stomach. Then, as the clock struck midnight to kick off my sixth week, I hit my knees on the bathroom floor and began my first of more than 300 vomiting episodes over the next nine months.

Frantic Google searches began. I tried the classics like ginger tea and candies, saltines, sea bands, and eating several small meals throughout the day. Not a dent. So I upped my game and added vitamin B6 and Unisom to my regimen, incorporated aromatherapy, and sipped fluids around the clock. Nothing could transform my debilitating nausea and vomiting into something remotely bearable. When I finally met with my doctor for the first time at 12 weeks, she reassured me it would be over soon and it'd be best to push through without any antinausea medications that could present risks to my growing baby.

I made it through my first pregnancy without antinausea medications, but each time my doctor urged me to hold off, I wish I'd spoken up and opted in. I know now that I didn't need to allow the guilt of potential risks and stigmas to prevent me from advocating for my own emotional and physical well-being during such a difficult time. My second pregnancy proved just as brutal, but the lessons I carried from my first lessened the blow.

When I could feel myself becoming severely dehydrated and unable to keep fluids down, I'd head to the ER for IV fluids and medication. In my first pregnancy, the thought of going to the ER left me feeling like a drain on the system, and I thought I needed to "tough it out," but I'd come to realize that severe dehydration only exacerbates morning sickness and the only way to break out of the negative feedback loop was to rehydrate as quickly as possible. I got on antinausea medications Zofran and Reglan, and, though it was only a mild improvement, it was a welcomed step up from every other failed remedy in the book.

I learned to let go of the guilt I'd experienced during my first pregnancy when I entered survival mode and did as little as possible outside of keeping myself alive. During my second pregnancy, this looked like letting my son watch too much TV while I laid on the couch trying to hang on to what little I had in my stomach.

Most importantly, I learned that no amount of misery in the world would equate to the unconditional and overwhelming love I'd feel for my children. Going through what I did, I questioned if being a mother could possibly be worth so much suffering for what feels like an eternity. Now I know that I would do it all again, and again, and again if it meant getting to raise and love and soak in two of the best human beings I can imagine. What most helped me: Staying focused on my baby, remembering that the end of this sickness means the beginning of the most beautiful journey you can imagine, and doing my best to refrain from punching anyone in the face who asked me if I've tried saltines yet.

Fashion Girls Are Obsessed With the Shirt-Jacket Trend - Here's Exactly How to Wear One IRL

Duality is a prominent theme in fashion right now. We've already given you the low down on the two-toned trend that's taking the street style scene by storm, and now we're here to discuss shirt jackets. With a "can do both" quality, shirt jackets are intended for oversize fit with utilitarian details that look achingly cool whether you style one as a shirt or worn open as a top layer (hence the name). Coming in a variety of fabrics and prints like leather, plaid, and wool, not to mention varied cuts that range from long and boxy to cropped and belted, there are plenty of shirt jackets to choose.

While the weather is still chilly, a roomy shirt jacket looks so fresh layered over a thin turtleneck with straight-leg jeans or leather pants. For a cinched look, try belting a style over your pant of choice, or a silky slip skirt or dress for more of a feminine look. If you're all about leaning into the utilitarian trend, try an oversize style in combination with the cargo pocket trend. Get psyched because Bruno Mars is bringing a little bit of his 24K magic to the big screen with his own music-driven Disney movie. According to Deadline, Mars is set to produce and star in the unnamed theatrical narrative and will also create and perform original music for the film. While Disney has yet to announce the plot of the film or its release date, we have a feeling it's going to be full of great songs.

"If your heart is in your dream ‬/ No request is too extreme /‪ When you wish upon a star," Mars captioned an Instagram video on Thursday, in which he performs his own piano version of the classic Disney tune, "When You Wish Upon a Star."

Mars previously appeared as Little Elvis in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas and voiced Roberto in the 2014 film Rio 2. Considering that Mars has 11 Grammys under his belt, we have high hopes for the soundtrack, too!
