Westworld's Season 3 Trailer Features an Unexpected Cover of an Iconic Song

The official trailer for season three of Westworld is out now, and we have so many questions - including what song is playing over the trailer. Series music maestro Ramin Djawadi is back in fine form, once again creating an unexpected and deeply cool cover of a famous rock song for the new season's trailer. This time around, it's a cover of Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child o' Mine."

Djawadi's musical compositions and arrangements have scored a huge swath of HBO's top-tier original programming for several years now. He was behind the music for all eight seasons of Game of Thrones (for which he won two Emmy Awards), as well as all of Westworld so far. His Westworld soundtracks have gained a reputation for unusual covers of rock songs: the first season included covers of the Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black" and Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun," among others, while season two featured versions of Kanye West's "Runaway" and "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes. In a 2018 interview with Vulture, Djawadi explained the reasoning behind his signature piano and orchestral covers of memorable modern songs.

"[With] the fact that this is a theme park we realized, 'Wait, we can almost treat this as a jukebox. Like, the people controlling the park are playing their favorite tracks.' It was always a subconscious reminder of the fact that this world is not real. It gives it that contemporary spin."

Season three of Westworld returns to HBO on March 15, starring series regulars Evan Rachel Wood, Tessa Thompson, Thandie Newton, and Jeffrey Wright. The most notable newcomer in season three is Aaron Paul, playing Caleb, a construction worker who has some still-mysterious connection to Wood's Dolores. Lena Waithe, Vincent Cassel, Kid Cudi, Michael Ealy, and John Gallagher Jr. also are set to join the cast for the eight-episode third season this Spring. We can't wait to see what new twists and turns - and amazing music covers - the season has in store! Ahead, watch the trailer, then listen to a similar version of Djawadi's cover.

4 Ab Workout Mistakes That Could Be Hurting Your Back

No one should have to feel the instant regret of tweaking their back, especially during a workout. Getting struck by that sharp, shooting pain is like aging 15 years in one minute. Ab workouts, in particular, are the double-edged swords of back pain: strengthening your core can help prevent injury, but practicing poor form during each move puts you at a higher risk of strain.

That's where Caley Crawford, an NASM-certified personal trainer and director of education for Row House, comes in - she's exposing the biggest ab workout mistakes and offering solutions so you (and your back) continue to thrive in the gym.

Flutter Kicks

Mistake: Flutter-kick fans, avoid lifting your back off the ground - Crawford said this mishap is "overcompensating for your abs and puts a lot of stress on your lower back." If you're instinctually placing your hands under your hips to allow your back to press into the floor, you're correcting your posture - but not in the most effective way, Crawford said. "Your lower abdominals get to take a 'break' and not work as hard."

Correction: Protect your back while getting the most out of your flutter kicks by bringing your feet higher into the air, Crawford suggested. "As you get stronger, you can lower your feet closer to the ground. But the moment you feel your lower back lift off the ground, you've gone too low." To engage your core more, lift your shoulders off the ground, too, she said - by doing this, you're getting your whole body involved.

Plank

Mistake: Just because planks are simple doesn't mean you can't do them wrong. By merely sagging your hips toward the ground, you're putting your back at risk, Crawford said.

Correction: Tuck in those hips, activate your glutes, and bring your belly button into your spine, Crawford said. Those three adjustments should do the trick, but if you're still feeling pressure and pain in your lower back, remember to engage your core. She even suggested working out in front of a mirror to check your body alignment.

Rowing

Mistake: Feeling the wrong type of burn from your rowing machine? You're probably not hinging forward enough during your "recovery" and pulling too much with your feet at the finish, Crawford said. "We need to load the hamstrings and glutes, so the hinge forward is important." A good way to know if you're using your feet too much (which is a telltale sign of an underactive core) is if your shoe straps loosen as you row, she added.

Correction: Crawford's tip for success is to get your arms straight and upper body hinging from the hips in a forward position before bending your knees on the recovery.

Deadlift

Mistake: Deadlifts can cause serious damage to your back if you're not careful. Rounding in the spine and a lack of late engagement can cause the core not to be fully utilized, which can result in injury, Crawford warned.

Correction: Crawford's idea of the proper form includes engaging your lats, hinging at the hips, and keeping your back straight and knees slightly bent - and that's just the setup. Before you lift, she said, make sure your hamstrings are tight and loaded. As you lift, keep your core braced and back straight and focus on your legs and glutes doing most of the work. When finishing out the deadlift, be careful as you lower the weight back down as well. And don't let lighter dumbbells fool you: Crawford finds that the biggest issues actually occur with lighter weights because some don't feel the need to prepare their bodies as much.

10 Shows The Circle Fans Will Love as Much as Chris Loves a Good Outfit

If you've already binged all 12 episodes of season one of The Circle then you know just how good it is. Coined as the Big Brother version of Netflix, The Circle has all the elements of a binge-worthy show: strategy, drama, mind games, vulnerability, and cat-fishing. While we anxiously wait to see if The Circle will be renewed for a second season, here are 10 other similar shows that have just as much sneaky game play and drama.

I Tried Intermittent Fasting to Lose Weight, but I Didn't Expect to Break Free From Sugar

I first became curious about intermittent fasting after putting on an extra five pounds. I've always been comfortable with my weight, so I had limited experience in trying to lose it. I liked that intermittent fasting - in which you simply eat within a set window (usually six to 12 hours) and fast for the remainder of the day - didn't have a lot of complicated rules. You don't have to count calories or cut out any specific foods, for example. Plus, the idea that fasting could help your body more easily burn stored fat didn't seem far-fetched, especially since it had worked for several friends.

There was only one problem: I was accustomed to eating every two to three hours during the day. If I pushed it to fours hours without a snack, I felt sluggish and lightheaded. Naturally, I was concerned that intermittent fasting wouldn't be a good fit, but I decided to give it a try.

After reading up on intermittent fasting, I started with a small fasting window and gradually lengthened it, drinking plenty of water and black coffee to power through. But while I was able to stretch my fasting window, I didn't lose any weight. I also noticed that I sometimes felt headache-y after breaking my fast. Perplexed, I turned to an intermittent-fasting community on Facebook, hoping to find someone who had been in my shoes.

The experienced fasters wanted to know what I was eating, which was simple enough. I stuck mostly to my favorite foods: bread, pasta, and cookies. Wrong answer. Everyone immediately suggested I cut down on sugar and refined carbs (which turn into sugar in the body), switching them out for more dense proteins and fats like eggs, salmon, avocado, and yogurt. They explained that my headaches were likely due to a spike in blood sugar after my fast. They also suggested exercising during my fasting window to help me start losing weight.

As soon as I followed their advice and changed what I was eating, I dropped the weight I wanted to lose, and more importantly, I felt amazing. I had lasting energy for the first time in years, and I no longer experienced lightheadedness, even during longer fasting periods. It was even feasible to exercise during my fast, and as long as I was properly hydrated, I actually felt stronger and more powerful during my workouts than ever before.

Turns out, I had been confusing sugar cravings with hunger for most of my life.

Turns out, I had been confusing sugar cravings with hunger for most of my life. I had no idea that what I thought were moments of hanger were actually dips in my blood sugar. I thought it was normal to feel that crash and reach for another snack, but in reality, I was addicted to sugar, whether it came from sweets or refined carbs.

Sugary cereal, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and chocolate chip cookies had been pillars in my diet for almost 30 years. And in that time, I lost touch with what hunger actually feels like. I thought I was hungry when I felt fuzzy and agitated, but because I ate in those moments, I never felt the growl or tightness in my stomach that signals hunger. Intermittent fasting helped me relearn my hunger cues, so now I can eat intuitively and feed my body what it needs when it needs it.

After trying out a few weeks of intermittent fasting, I've settled into a new normal. I eat a variety of foods throughout the day, but I don't snack at night anymore. I'm not overly strict about my sugar intake, but I'm much more aware of what I eat and whether it's really serving my body. And I feel better than ever.

"Drenched" Hair Color Is the Grungiest Spring Trend We Never Knew We Needed

On the arbitrary list of things you might like to be "drenched" in, there is the good (diamonds, compliments, the sun) and the bad (perfume, sweat, perfume) - but perhaps the most unexpected is when the term is used in relation to hair color. The technique, coined by colorist Karissa Schaudt at Maxine Salon in Chicago, is when "the entire head of hair is saturated with at least two different colors" - and it's just the Spring trend you've been looking for.

Put simply, "drenched" hair color is the reverse of "dipped" (think: Billie Eilish's neon roots), but don't confuse it for balayage or grown-out highlights. "This isn't an ombré because the entire head is 'drenched' in color," Schaudt said. "The vision is decorative grunge. This modern color technique is original and punk displayed in a very striking way. It's for the client looking for a statement. It doesn't necessarily have to be as bright or funky as Billie's, but it will put a creative twist on anyone's outdated color."

During your appointment, you'll want to discuss your two takes on the trend (more on that ahead) - both of which provide a "mesmerizing look, but the extremity of it depends on the vibrancy and contrast in your chosen color pallet," she said. Make no mistake: this trend is certainly for the bold - but we have a feeling you'll leave the salon drenched in flattery, too.

In My House, Every Night Is Date Night, And It's Easier to Do Than You'd Think

It seems like it wasn't that long ago when date night was a regular and tangible part of our lives. We would dress up, eat out, and bask in the freedom to do what we wanted. Most importantly, we had uninterrupted time to talk, bond, and connect in a way that would leave us feeling hot for each other by the end of the night. It seems like it wasn't that long ago, but a lot has happened between those early days when my husband and I first started dating and now. Babies, busy schedules, and building careers have made the typical date night much more elusive, and that is why we are committed to setting aside quality time every single day to nurture our relationship.

For us, date night happens every night. We are able to achieve this because we hold fast to our daily routine. Of course, each day brings its own set of unique circumstances, but we work hard to make sure our daughter is in bed between 7:30 and 8:00 on a regular day (7:00 if she hasn't napped). After that, we spend about an hour on individual alone time - showering, finishing up personal to-do list items, catching up on phone calls, texts, or emails, or just taking some time to zone out. After all, our self-care is just as important as our date time. That leaves us with two hours each night to put each other first and still get to bed at a reasonable time.

Even though we may be wearing pajama pants and hoodies (and I may or may not be rocking facial mask and a hair wrap), our daily dates are intimate, and they bring us closer together. Some nights are for talking, whether we're recounting our day, taking a trip down memory lane, having Bible study, or discussing what's going on in the world. Some nights are for entertainment, whether we're binge-watching a new series, rooting for our sports team, or cracking up about the plot of a Lifetime movie. Some nights are for physical bonding, whether we're cuddling on the couch, treating each other to foot rubs, or getting busy. Most nights are an enjoyable combination of any of those ideas. Depending on how we feel, the date can be as lively or as romantic as we want it to be.

Does every day work this way? Of course not. But we do work hard to ensure that more days go this way than those that don't. As a result, it never feels like too much time has passed before we have talked and laughed, done something fun, relaxed together, or served one another in some capacity. It's hard to go to bed mad at someone when you've just had an awesome date - especially if it didn't cost anything! Our date time is sacred, and except for the occasional parenting priority that interrupts us, we ensure that it happens. We prioritize time together so that the more typical date night or Valentine's Day celebration enhances our relationship, instead of being the only opportunity we have to invest in it.

Quibi Has an Insane Amount of Impressive Content in the Works - Here's What to Know

The streaming wars are truly upon us, and an upcoming platform known as Quibi is hoping we'll consider its service along with Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, and the rest of the streaming sites battling it out for a piece of our paycheck. But what is Quibi, and what sets it apart from all the other streaming newcomers? The answer is, quite a lot, actually. From its unique service model to the content it will be serving up (a talk show host Demi Lovato?!), Quibi is, for better or worse, creating a new kind of streaming experience. Read on to find out if that streaming experience is right for you, as well as what in the world Quibi even means.

What Is Quibi?

Quibi is short for "quick bites," which is the perfect way to describe the mobile-only streaming service. All of the content on the app will be served up in seven- to 10-minute episodes that viewers can watch on the go via their smartphones. The streamer is hoping to serve consumers who are looking for quality programming that they can watch on their commutes, during their work breaks, or basically during any downtime they may have during the day. The catch is, Quibi content is being made specifically with smartphone viewing in mind, and the programs won't be available to watch on any other devices or traditional TV.

What Can You Watch on Quibi?

Unlike most of the streaming sites, Quibi's entire library of content will be original to them. The platform's founder, Jeffrey Katzenberg, recently told Vulture that the plan is to spend over $1 billion on fresh content within the first year, And they aren't playing around. Quibi is attracting major talent like Steven Spielberg, Chrissy Teigen, Idris Elba, and Jennifer Lopez. So far, the streamer has announced more than 40 projects across three categories of programming. Content will be divided like this:

Long-Form: This section includes all of the scripted projects like Sophie Turner's first post-Game of Thrones series, Survive; modern remakes of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Varsity Blues, and The Fugitive; and marquee projects like director Sam Raimi's ambitious urban-legend-based series 50 States of Fear and Dane DeHaan-starrer The Stranger (below).

Quick Bites: This category will encompass of all the reality and competition goodness. Shows will include Chrissy's Court, which finds Teigen channeling her inner Judge Judy, Lopez's Thanks a Million, a series that's all about paying it forward, and Elba vs. Block, a show that finds the Luther actor competing against a professional rally car driver in a stunt-driving competition.

Daily Essentials: The final category is all about keeping you informed with bite-size takes on the news from NBC News, the BBC, and more. Additionally, this section will also include short-form pop culture news shows.

So, What Will Quibi Not Have?

If you're looking for traditional movies or TV shows, Quibi isn't for you. All of the content will be episodic and fall within the seven- to 10-minute range with episodes being released daily or weekly. Quibi also isn't aimed at the family market. At this time, there aren't any plans to include children's programming.

Is Quibi Free?

It is not. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, Quibi is a subscription-based service that comes with an ad-supported or ad-free option. The ad-supported tier will cost $5 per month and viewers will see short ads before shows start; viewers who simply can't abide ads can pay $8 monthly for a completely ad-free experience. There is a chance that the service will be bundled with a mobile service provider in the future, but in his recent interview with Vulture, Katzenberg said that there aren't any firm details on that front just yet. If you're wary about committing to another service, Quibi will offer new users a trial period, but the length of the trial is still unknown.

Why Would You Want to Pay to Watch TV on Your Phone?

YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram all offer short-form video content for free that you can watch on your phone (or anywhere else, for that matter). So, why should you pay to watch bite-size TV on your phone? The caliber of actors and creators who are on board is one reason, but an even more interesting one is that Quibi is creating content exclusively for phones. Because the streamer's shows can only be watched on smartphones, the creators can experiment by making some of the content interactive (Think Black Mirror: Bandersnatch), using specific notification sounds to let you know when new episodes are ready to be viewed, or, in the case of Spielberg's After Dark, control when viewers can watch the content (new episodes of the horror anthology will only be available after the sun goes down, no matter where you live).

When Will Quibi Be Available?

Quibi is set to launch April 6, so prepare for a whole lot of bite-size content to come your way soon.

Michelle Obama Started the "Prom Challenge" With a Throwback Pic, and Celebs Followed Suit

Michelle Obama transported followers to 1982 on Tuesday with a throwback prom photo from her high school days. The former First Lady has been our style icon since she became a public figure, but this "Prom Challenge" picture also shows she had fashion as a teen too. The high-slit on her pink satin polka dot dress? Legendary. Her look is so great, it inspired celebrities like Tracee Ellis Ross and Kerry Washington to share photos of their prom outfits too.

These blasts from the past serve as a helpful (and timely) reminder to register to vote, too. "If you're a student or teacher, join the #PromChallenge with @WhenWeAllVote and @MTV and tell us what your school is doing to register students to vote - you could get a free prom for your school! Learn more at prom.mtv.com," Michelle, a When We All Vote co-chair, wrote in her caption. "You can also help me spread the word by posting your prom photo with #PromChallenge." According to MTV's website, up to 20 schools will be selected to receive up to $5,000 for their dream prom. If you needed an incentive to get ready to vote, this just might be it!
