Celebrities Are Proving That the Shag Haircut Is Back, and It's Cooler Than Ever
The shag haircut isn't exactly new. The choppy, layered hair look - typically styled with tons of texture - was popularized back in the 1970s, but it has since made a comeback this year on our favorite celebrities.
What you're seeing on seemingly every A-lister from Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez to Taylor Swift and Sarah Hyland isn't what you'd see decades ago. The updated version of the shag is what hairstylist Devin Toth told POPSUGAR would be the coolest haircut trend of the year.
"The two popular shag styles will be ultra curly, ultra layered, and then straight with long curtain bangs that sweep," he said. "The curly shag is very round with a pure release of texture. It will be a seamless transition from bangs to short layers to long layers to bottom length. The straight shag can be styled however you want, but it generally has longer layers with the focus of the style being the bold curtain bangs - sweeping but not fully connected to the rest of the style."

Disney Is Making a Beauty and the Beast Prequel Series Starring Gaston and LeFou
Image Source: Getty / Stefanie KeenanImage Source: Everett Collection
Get excited, Disney-villain fans! The live-action Beauty and the Beast film has inspired a prequel series dedicated to Gaston and LeFou, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The six-episode Disney series will star Luke Evans (Gaston) and Frozen's Josh Gad (LeFou) in their previous roles and expand on the world of Beauty and the Beast by giving us a glimpse at Gaston's past. Just like the original Disney movie and 2017's live-action reboot, the series will be set to musical numbers, and you know what they say: no one sings like Gaston.
Gad is also signed on as a writer, cocreator, and showrunner, and Once Upon a Time's Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz will join him as executive producers. While Disney has yet to announce a premiere date for the series, we can only hope that means there's time for even more of the live-action cast to sign on as part of the project.
Simone Biles Doesn't Care About Anyone Else's Beauty Standards, and We're Here For It
There's no denying that Simone Biles's talent is out of this world, and naturally, when you're thriving, people are going to try and stop your shine. A few weeks ago, Simone penned a letter discussing the competition of beauty in partnership with SK-II to challenge beauty standards. She explained that her experience with beauty ideals has become "the competition I didn't sign up for" and "almost a daily challenge for me." Simone expressed that people have felt the need to define her based off their own definition of what's beautiful, explaining that the negativity she's received toward her body and how she looks in uniform, dresses, and bikinis has affected her.
"In the beginning, I would go look through the comments, and I would cry, or maybe I would comment back to some," she said in a recent interview with Good Morning America. She went on to explain that the people who make negative remarks about her comment for attention, and she is no longer expending her energy engaging with them. She does have better things to do like continue to execute skills never performed before and shatter her own records.
She no longer dwells on the negative comments nor does she internalize them, she explained in the interview. "At the end of the day, they don't know who I really am, rather than looks and what I've achieved," she said.
Since her rookie year, she's grown as an individual and said that people like Chrissy Teigen inspire her to not care about what people think of her. Her Olympic teammate Aly Raisman has also been a source of strength and inspiration for Simone. "She always told all of us that we are beautiful, [it] doesn't matter what you look like, but your soul is beautiful. And then that leads to the outside, and you start glowing. And that really resonated with me."
Is It Summer Already? Because Rauw Alejandro Just Released the “Fantasías” Remix and Things Got Way Hotter
Last year, Rauw Alejandro released "Fantasías," a single with Farruko that pretty much skyrocketed him to fame, earning more than 356 million views on its music video, and more than 250 million views on all digital platforms. The song also charted on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs, Latin Streaming Songs, Latin Pop Airplay, and Tropical Airplay lists.
Now, Rauw is looking to quadruple that success by joining forces again with Farruko and adding Natti Natasha, Anuel AA, and Lunay to an epic remix that promises to get everyone dancing.
"The original version of Fantasías is already a world anthem, and now the remix is going to make history in music and in the Latin genre," Rauw said in a press release. "It has been an honor to work with these great artists; they will always have my respects and admiration," he added.
Rauw, who's fresh from winning the award for top male, new generation, at the second annual Premios Tu Musica Urbano last night, released this collaboration, which sounds like a tropical dance party you'd want to be a part of, paired with a video that looks like the vacation you've been dying to take.
This remix comes just weeks after premiering his single "Tattoo," which received an excellent response from audiences, quickly reaching more than 23 million views and more than eight million streams on digital platforms, leading the charts in Spain, Chile, Mexico, the US, and Argentina. This single also landed him the cover of Spotify's prestigious playlist Viva Latino, and made it into Apple Music's Dale Play! playlist.
Thanks to the incredible success Rauw's been having, and also to "TBT," his new collaboration with Sebastián Yatra and Manuel Turizo, he's embarking on a world tour that will visit 24 cities around the world, starting in San Juan, PR, this coming March 28.

Elizabeth Warren Made Her SNL Debut With Kate McKinnon, and They're a Couple of Fighters
Please welcome the real Sen. Elizabeth Warren to Saturday Night Live! The Massachusetts politician and former presidential hopeful stopped by the NBC sketch comedy show on March 7 in a surprise cold open appearance. Although the skit focuses on news coverage of the coronavirus, you can skip ahead to 6:50 to see Warren steal the show.
"I'm doing just fine," Warren said, in reference to her dropping out of the 2020 race. "My friends and family have been so supportive. They've been calling nonstop, asking, 'Are you OK?' 'What do you need?' 'Were you electable?'"
Warren was then joined by her onscreen doppelganger, Kate McKinnon, for their official sign-off. "I wanted to put on my favorite outfit to thank you for all you've done in your lifetime," McKinnon said. ""I'm not dead, I'm just in the Senate," Warren joked back. Watch the video above to see the full skit and then make sure you check out their hilarious "Flip the Switch" challenge. It looks like these two have too much fun together.

Elizabeth Warren and Kate McKinnon “Flipped the Switch” in This Hilarious TikTok Challenge
Former presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren might have dropped out of the race, but she's taking it all in stride. On March 7, the Massachusetts senator made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live and met her doppelgänger, Kate McKinnon. The on-air union was sweet enough, but what happened behind the scenes was even better.
Falling into the social media craze, Elizabeth and Kate took on TikTok's "Flip the Switch" challenge. It involves standing in front of a mirror with someone while playing Drake's 2018 song "Nonstop". As soon as the lyric "I just flipped the switch" comes in, someone flicks a light off and back on, revealing that they've swapped positions and personas with whoever else is in the video. In Elizabeth and Kate's case, that meant switching places, while rocking the same outfit, and taking turns dancing in the background. It truly is a gift, especially because we get to see Elizabeth show off her moves as Kate tries to hold in her laughter. And, yes, even Drake saw the video and commented, "Wow I need to come home." Watch Elizabeth and Kate flip the switch in the hilarious clip above!
You Don't Have to Like Sports to Be Captivated by These 10 Sports Documentaries on Netflix
Maybe you're not a sports person. Maybe you don't even know what a first down is. However, the great thing about sports documentaries is that you don't have to like or even understand the game to become deeply invested. If you teared up during Brian's Song and felt your heart grow three sizes while watching The Blind Side, chances are you'll find a documentary just as entertaining. From hockey to boxing to competitive cheerleading, Netflix has plenty of riveting sports documentaries and docuseries available to stream, and while there aren't nearly as many films about women's sports as there should be, Netflix's selection still doesn't disappoint.

Crunches Are Bad For Your Posture - These 2 Stretches Will Lengthen Your Tight Muscles
You may think the recipe for developing stronger abs is a ton of crunches, but the truth is, crunches aren't the best exercise to do if you want to improve your core strength.
Why Crunches Are Bad For Your Posture
"When we do crunches, it puts our body in a forward, hunched C-like pattern," Todd Sinett, kinesiologist, chiropractor, and the author of Sit-Ups Are Stupid & Crunches Are Crap, told POPSUGAR. The hunched position shortens, tightens, and overcontracts your abs, which can result in neck pain, back pain, and shoulder pain, Sinett explained. Because of this, he recommends avoiding crunches "because they completely throw off the balance of the core and [the abdominal muscles] can become too tight."
Over time, exercises like crunches and poor posture can lead to a postural imbalance, which occurs when your spine isn't in alignment, he said. Imbalances can occur naturally due to conditions like scoliosis (a curvature of the spine), but according to Sinett, postural imbalance is typically caused by excessive flexion of the spine, also known as having forward posture. An example of this would be tight shoulders close to your ears and your back rounding - this is what you want to avoid.
Conversely, it's possible to have too much laxity and excessive arching of the back (also known as extension), which is a telltale sign of a weak core. "You don't want core imbalances, because core imbalances lead to postural issues, altered biomechanics (creating pain), weakness, and noncontact injuries," Sinett explained.
How to Improve Your Posture
There are a lot of things you can do to improve your posture, such as strengthening your muscles, doing yoga, and working with therapists who can provide you with an individualized plan to have you functioning at your best. You can also implement two simple stretches into your routine that will help you counteract tight abdominal muscles and excessive flexion of the spine and improve your posture. Check them out ahead.
Yep, the Rules For Substitutions in Soccer Are Just as Complicated as They Seem
The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo are quickly approaching, and all eyes will be on the world's most popular sport: soccer. The US Women's National Team - fresh off a World Cup win in 2019 - will compete for a fifth Olympic gold, and while the roster has yet to be set, we're likely to see a mix of Olympic veterans and fresh faces taking turns on the field. But how exactly do those substitutions work? Unlike many team sports, soccer has very specific rules governing the process.
At the Olympics, each team is allowed only three substitutions during a match. This means that most players who start the game will play the entire 90 minutes, with just 15 minutes to rest between halves. (Intense, huh?) In order for another player to enter the field, the referee must be made aware of the change, which can only be completed when there's a stoppage in play. Further, once a player exits the game, they're not allowed to reenter. A more recent rule allows for one additional substitute if the game is tied and goes into extra time.
Timing is everything when it comes to substitutions. According to ESPN, most coaches try not to waste their substitutes in the first half. In fact, it's not uncommon to see coaches wait until the 60th minute to use their first sub, and even later to use the remainder, if they use them at all. Usually, substitutions are made because of an injury or to put fresh legs on the field in place of a player who's lagging. In the end, it's about strategy - and teams want their healthiest, most effective players on the field for as long as possible.

Olympic-Bound Cyclist Chloe Dygert Breaks Her Own World Record, Twice - on the Same Day
Less than five months out from the Summer Olympics, Chloe Dygert is busy grabbing record after record on cycling's biggest stages and cementing her status as the cyclist to beat in Tokyo.
Most recently, the 23-year-old American blew away her previous 3000m individual pursuit world record - twice, in the same day - at the 2020 World Track Cycling Championships, first breezing by it by a full three seconds (3:17.2) in qualifying on Feb. 29, then shaving off another three-tenths of a second in the final later that day (3:16.9). Chloe's previous world record was 3:20, set in 2018; for context, no other cyclist has ever broken 3:22. In this race, she beat her opponent by over six seconds to secure her third individual pursuit world title, after missing 2019 worlds due to concussion. Chloe also helped the US team reclaim their world title in the team pursuit, the discipline in which she holds her only Olympic medal so far, a silver medal from Rio. (Individual pursuit is not an Olympic discipline.)
And that's just on the track. Chloe secured her 2020 Olympic qualification last year in road racing, which is a completely different ballgame: track cycling takes place indoors, in a stadium called a velodrome; road racing is competed in long outdoor courses. In September, Chloe upset a veteran field by a record margin (one minute, 32 seconds) to become the youngest world champion of any gender in road time trial, according to NBC Sports. It was an all-out effort in rainy Yorkshire, England, that left her spent and collapsing at the finish line.
"I live in Washington State so I'm used to riding in the rain," Chloe told the press after that September win. "I really prepared very well for this. We took this year and just worked towards this race." But after taking home world championship gold in track, Chloe flashed some ambition, telling NBC Sports that her goal is to drop her record by another two or three seconds, to 3:15 or 3:16, and eventually break 3:10.
Ahead, you can Chloe's latest record-setting performance, which, FYI, came in the same six-month span as her road race records. Go ahead and get familiar with her name, because we predict you'll be hearing a lot of it in Tokyo this summer.

The Grey Stuff at Disneyland Is Absolutely Enchanting, and We Want More
"Try the grey stuff, it's delicious!" - a factual statement made by a fictional character in the song "Be Our Guest" from the Disney renaissance classic Beauty and the Beast. Disneyland park now features the film's famed dessert, and you can get it at the Red Rose Taverne in Fantasyland.
While gray goop may not seem so appetizing upon first sight, know that this whipped goodness is white chocolate mousse, surrounding a red velvet cake that is filled with raspberry preserves and a whole raspberry atop a scalloped tea cookie (we tasted notes of almond and lemon). Every bite was sensational. Check it out.
Worth the literal hour (yes, hour) line? Absolutely. We enjoyed this cake more than some rides at Disneyland. I would definitely go back for this, as it is now hands-down my favorite Disney dessert.

I Travel at Least Once a Month and This Is the 1 Bag I Never Board a Plane Without
I like to consider myself a pro traveler. Whether it's weekend getaways or heading overseas for several weeks, I never pack more than a carry-on suitcase. The one thing that saves me tons of space is having the perfect travel bag to go along with my suitcase. I normally stuff this bag with my cosmetics, shoes, and my own handbag, and that extra space allows me to fill my luggage with more clothes. But finding the right bag that fit all those things comfortably wasn't easy.
Throughout the years, I tried and tested so many options, but I was always faced with the same issues: not enough useful pockets, zippers, or carrying straps. Then I finally discovered this Dagne Dover 365 Medium Landon Neoprene Carryall Duffle Bag ($155), and it's a total game changer. I first started spotting the bag on the street, at the gym, and even on Instagram. Then, when one of my favorite bloggers did a story on how it's her favorite bag, I decided to make the plunge and treat myself to one.
The bag comes in a wide range of sizes from extra small to extra large, so you can choose the right one for your needs. I now have both the medium and large size. The medium is great for overnight trips or as a gym bag, which our fitness editors also love, too. The large bag is ideal for weekend getaways or long trips when I use it for my shoes and cosmetics.
What makes this bag stick out to me? The features are just so smart. It has a laptop pocket, a large interior zip pocket, two mesh pockets (great for water bottles), a removable zip pouch, key leash, two strap options, and even a shoe bag. But, hands down, my favorite feature is on the outside: it has a small phone pocket. So, when I'm in the airport and my purse is packed away I still have easy access to it for my boarding pass and digital wallet.
I love it so much, I never go anywhere without it. It helps me stay organized and I never have to dig through it to find my stuff. I even ended up snagging this Dagne Dover Large Hunter Neoprene Toiletry Bag ($55), and it's hands down one of the most useful cosmetic bags I've ever used. So, what are you waiting for? Now's the time to upgrade your travel life in style. Keep reading to shop all the options and colors and get yours.
