How a Gorgeous Boudoir Photo Shoot Empowered a Woman to Unapologetically Be Herself
In a world dominated by body standards that society deems acceptable, photographer Tara O'Meara wanted to shake things up, and so she started doing boudoir photography. "My inspiration is empowering all women to embrace what makes them themselves," Tara told POPSUGAR. When she began doing boudoir photography, she really wanted everyone to simply unapologetically be themselves. "There is so much negativity in the world, and women are putting a ton of pressure on themselves. Too often we find ourselves trying to fit into a box of the perfect friend, wife, mother, instead of celebrating what makes us, well us," said Tara.
"After my shoot I feel like I could conquer the world."
Tara's model for this shoot, Talyia, strongly agreed with Tara's views. "The purpose of the boudoir photo shoot to me is not to show how sexy you are to other people or to prove that you have to have minimal clothes on to be sexy," Talyia told POPSUGAR. "It is to empower you and show you how beautiful you are."
Talyia adds, "After my shoot I feel like I could conquer the world. It's not for your husband, not for your girlfriend, it's not for your partner. It's for you! To show how badass you truly are. And the pictures help remind you of it when some things get hard." Amen to that.
And no, sexy boudoir shoots aren't one-size-fits-all. "You don't have to be a size 2 and naked with a perfect body, you just be you. Be empowered by you, be loved by you," Talyia wrote in an Instagram post, and we could not agree more. Keep reading to see this fantastic boudoir photo shoot.

Idaho Lawmakers Quietly Passed a Bill That Could Ban Transgender Girls From School Sports
As elected officials across the country worked on slowing the spread of the coronavirus, Idaho state legislators had other priorities. On March 16 - three days after the White House declared a national emergency, as cases of COVID-19 continued to climb - Idaho lawmakers pushed through a bill that would ban transgender girls and women from playing on school sports teams that align with their gender identity, and effectively compel any female student-athlete to undergo an invasive pelvic exam in order to "prove" she is cisgender. The bill was passed by the state Senate in a 24-11 vote.
Now, Governor Brad Little has until Tuesday, March 31, to either veto House Bill 500 or sign it into law, a move that would result in an ongoing legal battle, with civil rights advocates already committed to filing a lawsuit. "We've been warning the state about that for weeks now," Ritchie Eppink, legal director of the ACLU of Idaho, told POPSUGAR. "The Idaho Attorney General warned the legislature about the bill's serious flaws as well." At a time when the nation is bracing for the economic impact of a global pandemic, litigation would only add to the burden. "It will cost Idaho's taxpayers considerably to defend this hateful bill," Eppink said.
Those consequences pale in comparison to those faced by the athletes themselves - and experts worry that the legislation could fuel even more attacks on the rights of the trans community.
"If I Was a Trans Student Now, I Would Be Devastated"
Eppink described HB 500 as "a constitutional nightmare," noting that by preventing transgender girls and women from participating in athletic programs based on their identity, the legislation violates the Equal Protection Clause of the United States Constitution and the Idaho Constitution, in addition to Title IX, a federal law that protects students against discrimination.
That would be harmful enough, but the vague language in the bill opens the door for anyone - athletes on rival teams, parents, even teammates - to demand that any female athlete undergo a pelvic exam in order to remain on her team. "With this specific bill, there's no limit to who can accuse who of being transgender," Sara L. Swoboda, MD, an Idaho-based pediatrician, told POPSUGAR. "Anyone participating in female sports would be at risk of someone accusing you of being transgender for any reason, like if they think you're too good or they don't like you."
Even if HB 500 is vetoed, the discussion surrounding the legislation has already caused damaged that won't be easily repaired. "I think if I was a trans student now, I would be devastated to hear the testimony and the vile things that lawmakers are saying about trans youth," Chris Mosier, a transgender athlete and advocate, told POPSUGAR. "These young people and their families, their parents, and their peers have to listen to people debate whether or not they're real and whether or not they deserve the same treatment as the rest of their classmates."
"We know that no one is transitioning for athletic glory."
Mosier noted that the language used by lawmakers who support HB 500 - who often refer to trans girls as "biological boys" - invalidates the identities of trans people. "They're talking about boys playing girls' sports. It doesn't apply to the bill, but that's how they're trying to pass it," he said. One the most stunning comments: "[One representative] painted a picture that trans girls were just boys who couldn't make it on a boys' team and wanted to beat girls, when in fact we know that no one is transitioning for athletic glory," explained Mosier, who traveled to Idaho earlier this month to speak out against the legislation.
Mosier told POPSUGAR that the message from lawmakers was clear: "Trans teens are seen as a threat to sports, and to their peers, as if trans people are not people at all, but rather scary monsters with intentions of ruining girls' sports," he said. "This type of language and rhetoric emboldens community members to further misunderstand and mistreat transgender Idahoans."
"Sports Were the Place Where I Felt Most Like Myself"
Dr. Swoboda explained that the mere possibility of being forced to undergo an examination of internal and external genitalia would be enough to dissuade transgender teens from joining sports teams - and participation in sports often plays a crucial role in the psychological and mental well-being of this population. According to research gathered by The Trevor Project, transgender youth experience significantly higher rates of depression than their cisgender peers, and one in three transgender youth attempted suicide in 2018. Being a member of a team can be a protective factor.
"Kids who participate in activities like sports are happier, they do better in school, and they're more likely to go to college," Dr. Swoboda said. "Why would we exclude one of our most vulnerable populations from that resource?"
Eppink fears that the passage of the bill would have a profound impact on how transgender students are treated. "It will increase the already hostile school environments that trans students and women in general have to deal with on a day-to-day basis," he told POPSUGAR. "It's going to encourage the bullying and harassment that trans students already experience." A 2017 study found that nearly 84 percent of transgender students were bullied or harassed. Dr. Swoboda emphasized that acceptance by both one's peers and authority figures such as coaches is beneficial to the mental health of these teens.
As a young athlete, Mosier found his community through sports. "It was the place where I felt most like myself," he said. Being on a team gave him a sense of belonging, and helped him feel more accepted by his peers. "I know the transformational power of sports and of being on a team. That can greatly help with mental health and feeling supported and safe, whether [trans teens] are out to their team or not," he said. Mosier said having the support of your peers as you work towards a common goal is something that transgender youth find in very few other places.
While the harm that's been inflicted on the trans community in Idaho is devastating, there are also concerns that HB 500 could pave the way for more transphobic bills. "This is actually just the beginning, so it's critical that we stop this in its tracks so there's no momentum for lawmakers that are really trying to eliminate trans people from public spaces," Mosier told POPSUGAR.
The ACLU is prepared to fight, in hopes of deterring lawmakers across the nation from following Idaho's lead. "Hopefully the courts will stop this," Eppink said. "Because it's obviously unconstitutional and this is a crucial fight here in Idaho right now."
Can We Take a Moment to Talk About How Amazing Bad Bunny Looks in Drag in Yo Perreo Sola?
One of the things I'd never thought I'd say is that my favorite new female empowerment anthem comes from Bad Bunny. "Yo Perreo Sola" has not only become the go-to jam for women all over, but the video, released today, continues to challenge gender roles by giving women the power to make their own decisions and feel respected, and break boundaries by normalizing men exploring their feminine side.
Directed by Stillz and Bad Bunny - although he used his real name, Benito Martínez for the credits - the video features Bad Bunny in numerous drag looks, and let me tell you, he looks fantastic! The transformation included perfectly blended makeup, wigs, jewelry that would make the Queen jealous, and outfits that I'm ready to copy to go a perrear en la sala - until we can safely go out to party.
Another aspect of the video I really loved was that one of Bad Bunny's drag characters is living her best life and looked incredible, while embracing her body hair and not being self-conscious that she was wearing a sleeveless outfit. Adding to that, toward the end of the song, more women were featured on screen, and perhaps for the first time in a reggaetón video, we saw a diverse cast with different body types, ages, styles, and ethnicities.
Bad Bunny tried to be as inclusive as he could of all women, while delivering a song that gives us many "Yo Quiero Bailar" by Ivy Queen vibes lyric-wise. He describes a woman who goes out to have a good time dancing, yet she doesn't fall for cheap one-liners and would much rather "perrear sola" than with someone she doesn't feel comfortable with. Nevertheless, she doesn't shy away from meeting new people, as long as it's on her terms.
The video ends with the message "Si no quiere bailar contigo, respeta, ella perrea sola," which translates to "If she doesn't want to dance with you, respect her, she perrea alone."

Here's Where You Can Catch Your Fave Supernatural Cast Members Next
We still haven't accepted that Supernatural is actually coming to a close after 15 seasons, but we'll mop up our tears long enough to find out what the cast members are working on next. Thankfully, most of our faves have other roles lined up already, which is a huge relief because we're not sure how long we could handle not watching them on our screens. There are just a few weeks left before the show ends for good - and before we say our final farewell to Sam and Dean Winchester. Luckily, we know Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles will still enjoy their bromance even after the show goes off the air. As for the rest of the cast, though, keep reading to see what's next.
Ryan Gosling Will Play an Astronaut on a Fateful Mission in Project Hail Mary
The fate of the world is in Ryan Gosling's hands in his upcoming film, Project Hail Mary, and I'm already over the moon. Gosling will produce and star in the sci-fi feature (which is in talks to be produced by MGM) as an astronaut sent on a solo mission to save the world, according to Variety. The film currently does not have a release date, but it will be based off of The Martian author Andy Weir's novel The Hail Mary, which will be published next spring. Considering we've seen Gosling don astronaut gear in the past in First Man, we have a feeling that his latest mission will be out of this world.

This Is My Secret Recipe For the Healthy, Delicious Matcha Latte I Drink Every Day
I gave up coffee almost four years ago, and at first, I didn't know how I was going to function. I think I drank 10 cups of green tea those first few days. Shortly after, though, I discovered matcha, and my whole world changed. Matcha is a highly concentrated green tea that has around the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, but it doesn't make me feel jittery in the way that coffee does. I was buying matcha lattes every morning, but now that I'm staying inside, I've had to make it myself. This is everything I do to make a healthy, filling, delicious vanilla matcha latte at home. Spoiler: I buy all my ingredients on Amazon.
I start with the base. For me, I don't like it to be too milky, so I do four ounces of water and four ounces of unsweetened almond milk. But, I do still like a little bit of sweetness, so my secret ingredient is two tablespoons of vanilla protein powder. I take those ingredients, plus four ice cubes, and blend it up. In a separate bowl, I take two ounces of water and add half a teaspoon of matcha. Then, I whisk it until it's frothy and smooth, for about 30 seconds. I simply pour the matcha over my base and even more ice, stir it up, and drink! It's my favorite morning ritual because it keeps me awake, focused, and able to power through my day. Plus, in a time of uncertainty, having those morning rituals is so important for mental health. It makes me feel much better to know that no matter what, I can wake up and go make my matcha, and it provides some much needed normalcy and continuity to my day. My morning matcha makes me feel calm, centered, and energized, which is about all I can ask for right now.

Love Is Blind: Why We Need More Contestants Like Lauren Speed in Season 2
Fan-favorite Lauren Speed may have proved that love is blind, but her role in season one of the Netflix show displayed so much more. From Issa Rae on Insecure to Kate Edison on The Bold Type, we are seeing more accurate portrayals of Black women on TV than ever - and it's so important. In this case, Lauren's positive representation on Netflix's reality show emphasizes that Black women being their true and authentic selves is beautiful and desirable - despite how we may have been previously portrayed on reality TV.
Without even trying, Lauren's presence on the show acted as a mirror for our own dating experiences as Black women. We see ourselves in moments where she wakes up next to her now husband, Cameron Hamilton during their honeymoon, bare-faced and wearing a bonnet. She explains to the camera how important it is for Black women to wrap their hair up at night. Even though Cameron believes she is beautiful in her "bonnet beret", this sweet reaction hasn't always been the response from romantic partners on reality TV.
Let's look at Love Island UK" Yewande Biala, a contestant on season five, was notably the last to get picked during the "coupling" ceremony. The year prior, Samira Mighty was also the last to get picked at the ceremony during her time as an Islander. The previous Summer, Marcel Somerville was also picked last. Even though the producers attempted to provide representation, the diverse cast members not being first picks contributed to the perception that Black people are not desirable. This is why it's so refreshing to see Lauren be the first on Love Is Blind to receive a marriage proposal - as well as being in one of the only couples to make it work once the cameras stopped rolling.
Although Lauren's appearance is inarguably wholesome, stereotypes about Black women are still very present in reality television. In fact, in a genre of TV where drama is encouraged to boost ratings, Black women frequently get lost in stereotypes. Even though Love & Hip Hop is a show I find myself binging on the weekends from time to time, its storylines often center around multiple women battling it out over one of the male characters or fighting to be loved the way they deserve to be.
It's easy to get sucked in by the unfolding drama when tables are getting flipped over and words are getting bleeped out. But the truth is, these storylines add to the problematic idea that Black women are aggressive. It is crucial to look past this "angry" archetype in order to be seen for who we are: whole people who are worthy of love and affection.
Even Rachel Lindsay, the first Black Bachelorette to lead the franchise, believes she was mislabeled during her season on the show. Rachel expressed her concerns in a blog post for US Weekly as she recapped Becca Kufrin's season each week. She felt her finale spent more time sympathizing with her runner-up Peter Kraus than congratulating her engagement to Bryan Abasolo - not the case for other contestants, including Becca.
"Let's just be honest, Becca did not have the finale that I had. There was no controversy and she was not put in a position to face any," Lindsay wrote in US Weekly. "She was protected and I was placed on display for three hours and labeled an angry Black female. And there will always be that stigma attached to my finale because it has been said that when truth is blurred by misinformation, perception becomes reality and all is lost."
Lindsay's season gave the opportunity to give viewers a chance to understand the realities of Black women's experiences in relationships, but her happy ending was overshadowed (and somewhat invalidated) by the heightened drama of other cast members. On Love Is Blind on the other hand, Lauren's father seizes his opportunity to ask real and necessary questions that Black viewers were not only anticipating all season, but have lived through ourselves. He's a reminder that there is a world outside of the cameras and once they stop rolling, the couple will have to face society and how it views their relationship.
Ultimately, he gives his blessing and assures Cameron that he will not judge him for anything beyond how he treats his daughter. This conversation is essential for viewers watching at home because it confirms that regardless of race, Lauren as well as any of other Black woman on or off screen are deserving of being loved wholly.
When it comes to dating shows (and really, any type of visual media), casting women with a wide range of skin tones is only a start. Lauren's role on Love Is Blind exemplifies what we need to push forward a more accurate narrative of the dating experience as a Black woman. With casting underway for season two, we can only hope the new contestants will help continue to rewrite the narrative.

Shots on the House! This Family Turned the Garage Into a Club For Their Son's 21st Birthday
@emilytorchia It was a good time ##ButterGlossPop ##gamingszn ##selfquarantine ##coronavirus ##MoodBoost ##21
Social distancing hasn't stopped families from going to Disneyland (virtually), taking field trips all over the world, and finding other ways to keep themselves entertained. For Emily Torchia from Roseland, New Jersey, self-isolation wasn't about to get in the way of her and her family celebrating her brother's 21st birthday, according to BuzzFeed. In a video shared to TikTok, Emily shows off her family's garage, which has been transformed into an impromptu nightclub to give her brother the full experience of finally being over the legal drinking age, and he can't stop smiling.
"It's our policy we give you a free green tea shot."
"The night of [my brother's] 21st was a great night," Emily said. "My mom and dad put in a lot of work to make sure it seemed as real as possible. My mom even made my dad memorize lines! . . . In fact, it made this time in quarantine easier."
In the video, which currently has over one million likes, Emily's mom and dad can be seen acting as a bartender and a bouncer, respectively. Also, please note the sexy leg lamp in the background. "It's our policy we give you a free green tea shot," Emily's mom said. "And we let the bouncer, waitress, and I'll do one with you." In a follow-up video, the whole family can be seen doing shots of tea, and a cardboard cuttout of Justin Bieber even made a surprise celebrity appearance!
"The comments are full of positive words about my family and my great parents," Emily added. "I always knew that they were great, but the fact that over four million people saw this video and said the same is very heartwarming and something that my parents deserve as well."
