The Best Accessories That Were Made For All Those Zoom Calls

All we have to say is, thank goodness for video chat. Right now, we're relying on FaceTime, Google Hangouts, Houseparty, and Zoom to keep us in contact with our loved ones and colleagues; it's become an essential tool for connection, and we couldn't be more grateful for it right now. If you're working from home and have to be on more than a few virtual meetings, accessories can go a long way in helping you look put together, even if you're only seen from the chest up.

These 15 accessories will brighten your day, and probably the days of the people you're virtually interacting with. In fact, this very post was inspired by the pretty necklace our fashion director was wearing in a meeting last week. Tiger King's Carole Baskin Will Get a Sequel Series Focused on Her Husband's Disappearance

Listen up all you cool cats and kittens, because the ID network is releasing a limited crime documentary series focused on Tiger King's Carole Baskin titled Investigating the Strange World of Joe Exotic. Baskin owns the Big Cat Rescue in Citrus Park, Florida, and the show will delve deeper into what happened to her husband, Don Lewis, after he disappeared on Aug. 18, 1997.

"Love her or hate her, Carole is now in the center ring of the big cat circus," ID said in a statement, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Is she a selfless crusader and protector of animals, who found unimaginable strength despite the mysterious disappearance of her husband? Or are we witnessing Carole Baskin's master plan finally take effect? Despite her claims of innocence, did she orchestrate the disappearance of Don Lewis to seize control of his fortune, consolidate power and lay waste to her foes? No one seems to be talking - except for one man - and that man is the center of ID's upcoming investigative series."

The documentary - which doesn't yet have a premiere date - will present exclusive footage and information revealed by Joe Maldonado-Passage - who is still serving his 22-year sentence at Federal Medical Center Fort Worth prison - about the open investigation, for which the Florida authorities have recently asked the public for further leads.

"When the directors of the Netflix documentary Tiger King came to us five years ago they said they wanted to make the big cat version of Blackfish (the documentary that exposed abuse at SeaWorld) that would expose the misery caused by the rampant breeding of big cat cubs for cub petting exploitation and the awful life the cats lead in roadside zoos and backyards if they survive," Baskin said in a blog post. "There are not words for how disappointing it is to see that the docuseries not only does not do any of that, but has had the sole goal of being as salacious and sensational as possible to draw viewers."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reveal a New Nonprofit With a Connection to Their Son Archie

After stepping down as senior members of the royal family (and shutting down the Sussex Royal brand), Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are almost ready to launch their next public project: Archewell. The couple recently revealed the name of their new non-profit to The Telegraph, which will exist to "do something of meaning, to do something that matters." They registered the name for a number of uses, including audiobooks, clothing, scholarships, and more.

"Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of 'Arche'-the Greek word meaning 'source of action'. We connected to this concept for the charitable organisation we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son's name," the couple said, as reported by E! News. "Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon."

Although Harry and Meghan are opening up about this new venture, they are not prepared to officially unveil Archewell yet. "Like you, our focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global COVID-19 pandemic," they explained. The couple added, "We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right." In the meantime, the couple will continue social distancing with their 11-month-old son in Los Angeles.

The One Move You Should Do For Stronger Abs, According to a Celebrity Trainer

The idea of firming up your middle may seem daunting, particularly if you don't have 20 minutes to dedicate solely to strength training. But cranking out 30 crunches after a run or HIIT workout isn't going to do much - you have to do the right kind of ab moves in order to hit those hard to reach middle muscles. Enter: the crossover crunch.

"The crossover crunch is great because it works every part of the abs," Ngo Okafor, a celebrity trainer and founder and owner of ICONOCLAST Fitness in New York City, told POPSUGAR. "It works the upper part of the abs, the obliques, and the lower abs." You can do this move with or without a pair of dumbbells, depending on your fitness level. For beginners, start without weights and then as you get used to the exercise, try a pair of 5- to 10-lb. weights to kick up the intensity and burn.

To do this exercise, start by lying on the floor with your knees bent, as if you were doing a traditional sit-up. If you're using dumbbells, keep your arms bent at a 90-degree angle by your chest. As you contract your ab muscles, perform a sit-up, twisting your torso to one side as you punch across your body with the opposite arm. Return back to the starting position and repeat. Okafor recommends 15 to 20 reps on each side, making sure to do all the reps on one side before moving to the other. To make the exercise even more challenging, straighten your legs and extend your arms overhead, reaching the opposite hand to your foot as your lift your shoulders off the floor.

"This move is so effective because the process of raising the arm and shoulders successfully hits the upper ab region," Okafor said. "The twisting motion works the obliques, and if you do this exercise with straight legs you're able to hit the lower abs as you contract and bring your arm to reach the opposite leg."

If Dieting Makes You Feel Anxious, Distracted, Stressed, or Depressed, Experts Explain Why

"I'll be happier if I can just lose weight." Does this thought sound familiar? Diet culture tells us that we have to look a certain way to be deemed as beautiful or worthy, and it drives many women (and men too!) to diet. We try all kinds of diets - many extreme and unhealthy - all in pursuit of this "perfect" image that the media has drilled into our heads.

We cut calories, carbs, sugar, grains, processed food, and cross our fingers when we hop on the scale, hoping to see the number drop. And when we don't, we blame ourselves, which only forces us to diet longer or harder. I know women who've been dieting for over 20 years! But dieting can lead to terrible emotional and physical stress, which can then put our well-being at risk. Here are the ways that dieting stress can rob you of your health.

I Keep Wearing My Tie-Dye Socks at Home Because They Bring Me Joy

While some people have been dressing up while working from home at this time, I've found myself reaching for the same cozy sweatpants instead. I don't really feel like I've been in the right mindset to put on a flowy dress or wear a cute top with jeans for a put-together look. (Luckily, I don't have to dress up for work meetings since they are super casual.) Lately, it's the little things that have been bringing me joy. Case in point? I've been wearing my tie-dye socks when I need a little pick-me-up during the workweek.

I have a pair of colorful tie-dye socks from Mother that has "Don't" written on one sock and "Trip" written on the other. Just like my favorite hoodie, slipping into these retro socks brings a smile to my face. Perhaps it's the nostalgic tie-dye print that has a calming effect over me, but as soon I put them on I feel a little bit better. It might also be the fact that I'm no longer styling my outfit with different shoes right now and these colorful socks feel like a fun way to complete an outfit rather than plain white ones. I've actually noticed others like Leandra Medine and celebrity stylist Erin Walsh styling their loungewear at home with these colorful '90s-inspired socks, too. Keep reading to see how to wear tie-dye socks and shop a couple of pieces if you're feeling inspired ahead.

So, John Krasinski Just Surprised a Young Broadway Fan With an Epic Hamilton Reunion

John Krasinski is back with more feel-good content! On Sunday, the 40-year-old actor released episode two of his YouTube series, Some Good News, to help bring joy during this challenging time. The uplifting 16-minute episode features a revamped introduction, weather forecast from Robert De Niro, and an incredible Hamilton reunion.

After spotlighting others online who have been inspired to release their own Some Good News segments, John spoke about the many efforts to manufacture much-needed medical equipment and protective gear. The episode was also as star-studded as it was inspiring: after hearing about a young Hamilton fan, Aubrey, who was set to see a production in Jacksonville before it got cancelled, John arranged for a virtual performance of "Alexander Hamilton" featuring Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs, Lin-Manuel Miranda himself, and many others.

"If you can't go to Hamilton, we're bringing Hamilton to you," said John. Despite the fact that Aubrey admitted she has "never really seen The Office, or whatever," John also promised to fly her out to New York to see the musical on Broadway at a later date!

John debuted Some Good News on March 29 with special guest Steve Carell. The two reminisced about their time costarring on The Office, including some of the funniest on-set moments and the cast's tight-knit bond. John also chatted with a girl named Coco, who recently completed her final chemo treatment and was greeted with a socially distanced welcome parade in her neighborhood. At a time like this, we could all use some cheering up, so we can't wait for John's next episode!

The 7 Most Common Myths About Plant-Based Diets

You may have noticed - much to the delight of any vegan or vegan-curious - plant-based eating seems to be on everyone's mind. Earlier this year, the Golden Globes served its first-ever vegan menu, while the Netflix documentary Game Changers touted the benefits of plant-based diets for elite athletes. Add the fact that you can find or make a cauliflower version of pretty much every dish, and even eat a meatless Impossible Whopper at Burger King, and it's clear that it's never been easier to up your veggie intake.

But what exactly is plant-based eating? According to Maggie Moon, MS, RD, and best-selling author of The MIND Diet, "There's no official definition of a plant-based diet, but every nutrition expert I've spoken to about it agrees that it is based on plants. It includes vegans and vegetarians, but it also includes flexitarians, those following the MIND diet, and anyone trying to eat mostly plants with smaller amounts of animal foods. Though I don't speak for all dietitians, I know many of us encourage a discussion around plant-based eating to shift the ratios of plants on the plate. So, there are no foods that are off-limits in that sense. You have to meet people where there are. If I'm getting someone to give leafy greens a few more inches of real estate on the plate in the name of plant-based eating, that's a win."

Despite benefits like being more environmentally sustainable and decreasing your risk of heart disease, there are still many myths and misconceptions surrounding eating plant-based (Will I get enough protein? But . . . can I still eat cheese?) We talked to several nutritionists to get the real dish on plant-based diets.

I Wore Kim Kardashian's Neutral Sweatsuit Look, and Now I See Why She's Obsessed

Nobody can pull off a head-to-toe coordinating sweatsuit look Kim Kardashian . . . or so I thought. The star always looks effortlessly chic in her signature athleisure style, but could I look the same? I wanted to give it a try, so I bought an affordable H&M sweatsuit that channels the vibe. While we're all staying at home, this look is more convenient than ever.

I was pleasantly surprised by how put-together I felt in a matching sweatsuit. The monochromatic look makes it feel like an outfit rather than some sweats I threw on. More importantly, it's so comfortable! Plus, the neutral pieces work separately too, so I'm getting a lot of bang for my buck.

Read on to see some of my favorite sweatsuit looks from Kim Kardashian, then shop my exact set, as well as similar styles. We'll be looking like Calabasas queens in no time.

Cheers to Carrie Underwood, Who Effortlessly Belted Out "Drinking Alone" From Her Couch

Carrie Underwood managed to deliver a stadium-worthy performance from the comfort of her couch. On April 5, the singer participated in the Academy of Country Music's Our Country special, a collection of acoustic performances held during the original intended date of the ACM Awards, which have now been postponed to Sept. 16.

While sipping on a glass of red wine, Underwood belted out her (fittingly titled) single "Drinking Alone," off her 2018 album Cry Pretty. "This song actually seems to be striking a chord - more than ever with a lot of you these days - especially while so many of us are riding things out at home," Underwood said. She added, "Let's continue to support each other and stay strong until we can be together again." Watch a snippet of the stirring performance below.

Little Fires Everywhere: Here's How the Characters on the Show Compare to Those in the Book

Now that Hulu has brought Celeste Ng's book Little Fires Everywhere to the small screen, we've been keeping an eye on how the adaptation differs from the novel. The series has stayed pretty true to the book, especially in its essence, but it's made some modifications that (depending on how you look at it) have either helped or harmed the experience of watching the drama unfold.

The story, which takes place in Shaker Heights, OH, in the '90s, details the events that occur after a woman named Mia Warren (Kerry Washington) and her daughter, Pearl Warren (Lexi Underwood), move to the picture-perfect town. There, they meet the Richardson family: spouses Elena (Reese Witherspoon) and Bill (Joshua Jackson) and their children, Lexie (Jade Pettyjohn), Trip (Jordan Elsass), Moody (Gavin Lewis), and Izzy (Megan Stott). What starts off as a relatively paltry encounter eventually develops into a power struggle that offers nuanced commentary on race, class, privilege, and motherhood.

Things intensify when a woman named Bebe Chow (Lu Huang) - who leaves her baby, May Ling, at a fire station - wants custody back after a family, the McCulloughs, takes the child in. The town is split in opinions, and Mia and Elena take sides: Mia believes May Ling deserves to be with her birth mother, and Elena believes the McCulloughs can provide the best life for May Ling.

While all of this is going on, we explore each character's background and see that there's more to everyone than meets the eye. And the more they try to put on a front, the more they begin to unravel. Seeing how it all plays out on the show versus in the book has been interesting, especially when it comes to the Warren and Richardson families. So if you're wondering exactly how they differ, look ahead to see a book-to-TV comparison of each personality.
