Is It Tea Time Yet? I'm Eager to Make the Royal Family's Summer Scone Recipe

Are you ready to eat like Queen Elizabeth II? The Royal Family recently shared their favorite garden party scone recipe on Instagram, and I'm counting down the minutes 'til tea time. Rumor has it, the Queen doesn't go a day without her afternoon tea and after seeing her scones, you'll understand why.

"Every year at Garden Parties across The Royal Residences, over 27,000 cups of ☕️, 20,000 🥪 and 20,000 slices of 🍰 are consumed!" The Royal Family's page reads. "The Royal Pastry Chefs are happy to share their recipe for fruit scones, which traditionally would be served at Buckingham Palace every summer."

The British baked good is about as classic as they come, and I imagine you'll feel a lot closer to the palace with a scone in hand. Try out the recipe below, and if you live across the pond, make sure to convert your measurements. Although these scones are usually reserved for parties or tea, I see no reason to exclude them from becoming a breakfast treat or an after-dinner snack. Anything goes, really, and we promise not to tell the Queen.

HBO's Golden State Killer Doc Is About to Wreak Havoc on Your Psyche For 6 Straight Weeks

The Golden State Killer terrorized California throughout the 1970s and '80s, committing at least 50 sexual assaults and 12 murders. Although she didn't have a badge, the late Michelle McNamara dedicated every moment of her spare time to researching and identifying the serial killer. She wrote about the experience in her book I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer, which was coauthored by several other crime journalists and published posthumously in 2018. The story has inspired a new docuseries, premiering on HBO on June 28.

The true crime book-turned-documentary series, simply called I'll Be Gone in the Dark, will have a total of six parts. Beginning at 10 p.m. on June 28, each part will air on consecutive Sundays in the same time slot. Like most HBO series, it will be available to stream beginning at 7 p.m. on the West Coast.

I'll Be Gone in the Dark gives a look into the initial flawed investigation, McNamara's part in bringing the killer to justice, and how the case impacted her mental state. The story is told through McNamara's own words, using exclusive recordings and excerpts from her book read by actor Amy Ryan. You can also expect new content in the detective story, including interviews with detectives, survivors, and family members of the violent rapist and killer. Although this story unfolds the chilling details and unfathomable crimes of the Golden State Killer, this is also a series about obsession and persistence.

Watch the trailer for I'll Be Gone in the Dark below.

13 Fun Facts About Harry and Meghan's Wedding That Will Make You Feel Like You Were There

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in a romantic ceremony at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Palace on May 19, 2018. The extravagant nuptials brought out the couple's nearest and dearest including Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland, and Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Princess Diana's family. Millions of people from all over the world watched Meghan and Harry exchange "I dos," but if you're like us and your royal wedding invite got lost in the mail, then these fun tidbits will make you feel like you were a guest.

  1. Meghan followed in Princess Diana's footsteps. Harry and Meghan read traditional vows from the Book of Common Prayer, but if you listened closely, you would have noticed that Meghan omitted the word "obey," just like Diana did when she married Prince Charles in 1981. Kate Middleton also did the same when she tied the knot with Prince William in 2011.
  2. Meghan made history. The former Suits actress made a bold feminist statement by choosing to begin her wedding procession alone before joining Prince Charles at the Quire. It was the first time any royal bride has ever walked down the aisle of her wedding without an escort.
  3. Both Meghan and Harry received new titles. Just hours before the wedding, Queen Elizabeth II announced that Harry is now His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex, making Meghan Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.
  4. It was a star-studded affair. Stars like David and Victoria Beckham, Oprah Winfrey, Priyanka Chopra, Serena Williams, Tom Hardy, and George and Amal Clooney were all on hand for the event, as well as Meghan's former Suits costars.
  5. Harry's exes attended the wedding. Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy both attended the nuptials, and according to Us Weekly, Meghan was totally OK with it.
  6. Meghan's veil told a story. Per Meghan's request, the veil - which was designed by Givenchy's Clare Waight Keller - featured flora from every single Commonwealth country.
  7. Meghan stuck to tradition. Meghan's "something old" was Queen Mary's diamond bandeau tiara, which was lent to Meghan by Queen Elizabeth II.
  8. Meghan's bouquet was full of meaning. Not only did it include flowers handpicked by Harry himself, but it featured Forget-Me-Nots, which were Princess Diana's favorite flowers.
  9. Meghan's dad wasn't in attendance. Unfortunately, Thomas Markle missed the wedding as he was recovering from his recent heart surgery, but he did share his emotional reaction to TMZ. "My baby looks beautiful, and she looks very happy," he said. "I wish I were there, and I wish them all my love and all happiness."
  10. Harry and Prince Charles shared an incredibly sweet moment during the ceremony. After Charles walked Meghan up to the altar, Harry looked over at Charles and told him, "Thank you, Pa."
  11. Millions of people tuned in. And by millions, we mean 29.2 million! According to Deadline, 29.2 Americans watched the live broadcast of the wedding, which is around 6 million more than Prince William and Kate Middleton's 2011 wedding.
  12. Harry broke royal tradition. Unlike Prince William, Harry has chosen to wear his wedding ring, and not only that, but his band is made out of platinum. The royal family has been using Welsh gold since the Queen Mother's wedding in 1923, but Harry decided to switch things up for his.
  13. Elton John was the special performer. After much speculation, Kensington Palace confirmed that Elton had the honor of performing for Harry and Meghan at their lunchtime reception. "Prince Harry asked Sir Elton to perform at the reception, which was hosted by Her Majesty The Queen at St George's Hall, Windsor Castle," the statement read. "Sir Elton performed for the newly married couple in recognition of the close connection he has with Prince Harry and his family." Elton was a close friend of Harry's late mom, Princess Diana and even performed "Candle in the Wind" at her funeral.

Reebok Is Launching Pride Apparel, Shoes, and Accessories to Celebrate LGBTQ+ Visibility

Last year, Reebok promised to donate up to $50,000 in proceeds from its Pride collection to Boston-based non-profit Fenway Health. This year, the brand's Pride efforts look a little different: Reebok just launched its "All Types of Love" collection featuring footwear, apparel, and accessories. This coincides with its "Proud Notes" campaign, which celebrates activists and influencers in the LGBTQ+ community.

The campaign highlights the stories of five people: Wazina Zondon, co-creator of the storytelling performance Coming Out Muslim; Twiggy Pucci Garçon, a choreographer for the show Pose and program director for True Colors United; dance teacher and performance artist Nali Flower; painter and model Dylan Camp; and June, another model with New Pandemics.

The video ahead showcases these activists and influencers reading letters of support addressed to them from loved ones. You can check out more about them on the Reebok blog. What's more, Reebok is donating $75,000 to the nonprofit It Gets Better Project, whose mission is to uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ youth around the globe.

Matt Wyman, Reebok's associate creative producer and co-chair of Colorful Soles, Reebok's LGBTQ+ employee resource group, told POPSUGAR, "Reebok has had Pride collections before, but this year's is all about growth and authenticity. From concept ideation to design to product storytelling, our LGBTQ+ employees led the All Types Of Love collection for Pride 2020. This year the products you see and the sentiment behind them are truly an authentic representation of the LGBTQ+ community at Reebok. We wanted our collection to take consumers on a journey of love, acceptance, and inclusivity."

If You Want a Plant-Based Milk That's High in Protein and Low in Carbs, Buy These 2 Brands

I can't tell you how many times I've stood in front of the plant-based milk section of the grocery store, holding two cartons side by side, comparing their nutritional information. Protein and sugar content are the top two things I zero in on, and since I tend to buy unsweetened plant-based milks, I'm left comparing protein.

I've never been big on buying almond milk - I just think it's a waste since it only offers one gram of protein per serving. I used to only buy unsweetened soy milk - until I discovered these two brands of milk that have pea protein added, which makes them higher in protein than any other milks I've seen - even cow's milk! And they both have under two grams of carbs.

These nondairy milks are easily my absolute favorites, and I never leave the store without them. They taste delicious enough on their own in a glass (with cookies!), and are versatile enough to add to recipes. Keep reading to find out their stellar nutritional information.

Watch Idina Menzel Belt Out an a Capella Cover of "Tomorrow" From Annie in a Treehouse

Someone call Snoop Dogg, because Idina Menzel is out here singing up a storm of good vibes. As part of Houseparty's In the House weekend, the group video chat app hosted a dozen celebrities from Alicia Keys and John Legend to Snoop Dogg and Katy Perry. Idina Menzel also made an appearance in her family's treehouse to bless us with this heartwarming cover of "Tomorrow" from the classic musical Annie, and her a capella skills are ridiculously good.

The song holds a particularly special place in Menzel's heart because it has been one of her favorite songs since she was a little girl. Menzel said she used to try to emulate Andrea McArdle, the original Broadway singer of the song, when she would perform it herself, but her singing instructor once advised her to "start trying to be like Idina" instead. The advice has since stuck with her, and it's definitely paid off.

Menzel then went on to sing "Let It Go" from Frozen and shared a few of the original Elsa sketches from Frozen and Frozen II. Watch her mesmerizing performances here.

Harry Styles's "Watermelon Sugar" Video Is the Sensual Beachside Romp We've Been Craving

If summer has been feeling like a foreign concept to you lately, Harry Styles is here to give you a sweet taste of that sunshine and merriment you've been missing. The Fine Line singer dropped his
highly anticipated music video for "Watermelon Sugar", and it's more than just a fun, colorful trip to the beach. Unlike his innovative performance on The Late Late Show's "Crosswalk the Musical" segment, the "Watermelon Sugar" video is more like a cool glass of water when you've been parched for days. Especially when you've been parched for human contact, since the video began with the disclaimer that it's "dedicated to touching." The dedication fits, since the entire video is a sensory trip down memory lane, reminding you of days that smell like coconut-scented sunscreen, sand in places you can't mention, and "that summer feelin'."

Oceanside on a beach that reminds us of One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" video, Styles and a group of beautiful people writhe sensually on beach towels and munch ravenously on watermelon, which will no doubt be the fodder for many a summer meme. If the slow beat and lyrics like "I just wanna taste it" and "I want your belly and that summer feelin'" didn't clue you into exactly what kind of high Styles is singing about, the video will fill in the blanks. Ah, to be young and feeling that summer heat. We're definitely adding this to our list of favorite videos from the One Direction alum.

"She's been my best friend for 15 years and I don't want to lose that."

It’s Official! Maluma’s "ADMV (Versión Urbana)" Will Be My Wedding Song - Now I Just Need the Groom

I don't know about you but I'm thoroughly enjoying Maluma's romantic side. It's so pure, charming, raw, and oh so sexy. Last month, when he released his romantic ballad "ADMV" (Amor de Mi Vida or Love of My Life) I couldn't help but melt a little.

"This song is very special for me, this is something that comes from the heart," Maluma said at the time in a press release. "It has made me realize the reason I started my career and it makes me think about what will happen in the future - if we are going to take the time to love one another, hug one another."

While the ballad was beautiful and showcased Maluma's vocal range, I'm even more excited about the just-released "ADMV (Versión Urbana)" which adds a very subtle reggaetón beat to the original ballad without altering its essence. It's so easy to vibe to . . . and would be the perfect wedding song.

Just picture it: you and the love of your life are ready to take on the dance floor for your first dance together, and you hear the lyrics, "When our memory fails and only the photographs remain, may I forget everything except that you are mine." You look into each other's eyes and realize you were meant to be, and that moment right there is perfect.

I don't know about you but I'm sold. Now I just need to find my groom.

Mindy Kaling Gives a Lesson in Gen Z Slang, and We're Laughing Over Her "Take an L" Definition

We can always count on Mindy Kaling for a good laugh, and this time she's giving us a lesson in Gen Z slang. In promotion with her Never Have I Ever series, Mindy shared a hilarious Instagram video on Monday, in which she explains the meaning of some popular millennial words and phrases. To be fair, she totally knows what "lewk" and "snatched" mean, however, I don't think she'll be using the phrase "take an L" anytime soon. "Is it like take a chill pill?" she asks. "An 'L' is a new kind of drug that I don't know about that young people are taking?" If you need a laugh today, watch the video above now, and then check out the time she learned British slang from Emma Thompson.

Why We'll Be Saying Goodbye to Walk-In Appointments When Nail Salons Finally Reopen

While heading back to the nail salon isn't of utmost importance right now (the main priority remains to be the continued safety for the public by staying home), planning and road-mapping how salons will operate post-lockdown is crucial to the beauty industry moving forward and succeeding in the future.

What that looks like is dependent on state regulations and safety mandates, as some salons might require facial mask coverings or plastic guards between the customer and technician.

Many beauty services are close-contact businesses and fall under the "high-risk" category for COVID-19, meaning that in many state's reopening plans, they are set to reopen later, after it's deemed safe to do so. In states like Georgia, Arizona, and Arkansas, nail salons have been allowed to reopen as long as the salon staff and customers follow a strict safety protocol, but in states with a higher number of coronavirus cases, like New York, New Jersey, and Illinois, nail salons have been projected to reopen at a later date.

Although this is an ever-changing situation, renowned nail expert Marian Newman and scientist, author, and educator Doug Schoon shared what you can likely expect when salons do reopen across the country.

There Will Be Increased Hygiene Measures in Place

Hygiene has always been top priority in nail salons, but now increased measures will be taken to ensure the safety of both employees and customers.

So far, the extra hygiene steps for nail salons include: increased hand washing for clients and technicians using disposable paper towels, technicians are to wear masks at all times, and technicians are not to touch any of the customer's personal belongings during appointments. Tools will be handled with stricter disinfection instructions, in addition to all nail polish brushes being cleaned between clients. Magazines or refreshments such as tea and coffee should no longer be offered to clients (single-use cups and water dispensers only), and a buffer time of about 15 minutes is recommended in between each client to allow for adequate cleaning and disinfecting.

Yes, You'll Have to Wear a Mask During Your Nail Appointment

Although masks in nail salons aren't rare, extra attention will be given to personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as clothing. Technicians are recommended to wear a fresh uniform daily, washed at 60 degrees after each use, which should not be worn at home or on their commute to and from work.

Masks should be a requirement for all staff - like N95 or FFP2 masks. However, in light of current shortages and recommendations from the government to only use nonmedical masks, technicians should check guidelines nearer the time of reopening. Clients should also wear a mask during their treatment, which should be disposed of or washed immediately afterwards.

As mentioned, gloves should be worn at all times. To eliminate risk of latex sensitivity, they should be powder-free nitrile gloves. While salon safety is incredibly important and proper PPE should be worn, it's important to make sure that frontline workers take priority for PPE access - this should be taken into consideration before opening to ensure adequate protection for an extended period of time.

There Will Be Fewer Customers in the Salon at One Time

Social distancing will still apply to in-salon nail appointments. Salons with more than one desk should be spaced six feet apart, and clients are advised to move around the premises as little as possible.

Walk-In Appointments Will No Longer Be Permitted

The general etiquette and way appointments are made is likely to change when the stay-at-home orders lifts. Salons are advised not to accept walk-in clients and only operate on an appointment basis. Each client should be asked about any COVID-19-related symptoms before proceeding with the appointment - likely via email or phone with agreed acknowledgement from clients of new policies in place. Technicians should only treat one client at a time to avoid any virus transferal.

Salons should also operate on a no-cash basis, instead taking card payments on a system that can be easily cleaned when touched. Arrive to the appointment on time and alone (without children) and only enter the premises when the previous client has left. In addition to this, cancellation policies may be reconsidered for those sick or unable to attend last minute.

We May Have to Wait Longer For Mobile and Home Salon Appointments

Technicians working in-house should not commence working until all restrictions on visitors in the home have been fully lifted. Once these stay-at-home orders have been lifted, the technician should avoid contact with other members in the home while carrying out the treatment. When entering the client's home, technicians should wear disposable foot coverings, gloves, a mask, and protective clothing, to be changed before entering a new client's home.

When visiting a nail salon or having a technician perform a treatment at home, you must confirm with the salon that you've been symptom-free for seven days, and that those you live with have also been symptom-free. These guidelines will be put in place to ensure the safety of both staff and clients, and being mindful and respectful of the salon's individual policies makes sure the industry can return to its new normal as quickly as possible.
