Grab 2 Dumbbells and Get Ready to Crush This 20-Minute Full-Body Strength Training Workout

Twenty minutes may not sound like enough time to get in a quality workout, but this 20-minute full-body workout is going to have your muscles quivering once it's over. "This full-body workout is a great way to help you build muscle with a combination of upper- and lower-body compound lifts," Stephanie Sanzo, a VFA-certified and Sweat app trainer - and creator of the BUILD and LIFTING at Home program - told POPSUGAR.

Because this is a circuit-style workout, you're going to be challenged aerobically in addition to challenging your strength. This workout is for all levels, and Sanzo recommends beginners complete three rounds of each circuit, and those who are more advanced to complete five rounds of each circuit. Grab some water, a towel, and your weights because it's time to put in work!

Stephanie Sanzo's 20-Minute Full-Body Strength Workout

Equipment needed: a set of medium-weight dumbbells - here's a guide on how to choose the right weight. Before getting started, make sure you adequately warm your body up – here's a dynamic warmup we like. This 20-minute work consists of two, total-body circuits containing three exercises each.

Complete the designated reps for all three exercises in circuit one, taking little to no rest in between each exercise, then take 30 seconds of rest once the circuit is complete. Repeat for a total of three rounds before advancing to circuit two. Complete the designated reps for all three exercises in circuit two, taking little to no rest in between each exercise, then take 30 seconds of rest. Repeat for a total of three rounds. Be sure to cool down and stretch after the workout.

  • Circuit 1, exercise 1: reverse lunge: 20 reps
  • Circuit 1, exercise 2: overhand Romanian deadlift: 15 reps
  • Circuit 1, exercise 3: dumbbell front squat: 20 reps

Take 30 seconds of rest and repeat circuit one for a total of three rounds if you're a beginner and five rounds if you're more advanced.

  • Circuit 2, exercise 1: dumbbell push-up: 10 reps
  • Circuit 2, exercise 2: bent-over row: 15 reps
  • Circuit 2, exercise 3: dumbbell push-press: 20 reps

Take 30 seconds of rest and repeat circuit three for a total of three round if you're a beginner and five rounds if you're more advanced.

Nickelodeon's Baby Shark Series Is Coming in 2021, but a Holiday Special Will Air in December!

If you thought the "Baby Shark" song craze was eventually going to tire itself out, you were very, very wrong. Nickelodeon announced in June 2019 that it had an animated Baby Shark TV show in the works, and we can now confirm that the preschool series, titled Baby Shark's Big Show!, will debut this December with a holiday special, followed by an official premiere in spring 2021!

The animated series, which is coproduced by Nickelodeon and SmartStudy - the company behind the brand Pinkfong - will have 26 30-minute episodes in its first season. The show will center around Baby Shark and his best friend William, who go on exciting and funny adventures in Carnivore Cove, where they live. And of course, there will be extremely catchy songs throughout (what would a Baby Shark show be without the music?!).

"Having the opportunity to dive deeper into this incredible world and create all-new storylines has been extremely exciting, and our head of preschool Eryk Casemiro and his team can't wait to help grow the Baby Shark universe and fanbase with an amazing new series that captures the heart and spirit of this beloved property," said Ramsey Naito, executive vice president, Nickelodeon Animation.

And this isn't the only airtime Baby Shark might be getting! Netflix announced in January 2019 that it is also developing a children's show inspired by the song, so we're eagerly awaiting further details.

Although spring 2021 feels far away, we already know that pulling our kids away from the screen will be nearly impossible. Thank goodness for the holiday special coming in December, which we are poised and ready to set our DVRs for!

Beyoncé to Release Stunning Visual Album, Black Is King, on Disney+ - Watch the Teaser!

Beyoncé had the Beyhive buzzing with joy on Saturday after the singer revealed the forthcoming release of her visual album, Black Is King. In a one-minute teaser, a montage of beautiful odes to African culture plays as Beyoncé declares, "The ancestors never left you." The project is based on the music from Bey's 2019 LP The Lion King: The Gift, which she dropped in conjunction with the release of Disney's The Lion King live-action remake. In the film, the songstress voiced the fierce Nala alongside Donald Glover's Simba.

"Black Is King is a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience," Disney and Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment said in a statement. "The film is a story for the ages that informs and rebuilds the present. A reunion of cultures and shared generational beliefs. A story of how the people left most broken have an extraordinary gift and a purposeful future." The project - written, directed, and executive produced by Bey - will premiere on Disney+ on July 31. In anticipation of the visual album, go ahead and blast Bey's latest song, "Black Parade," as well as The Lion King: The Gift.

I've Been Searching For Cheap Bike Shorts, and Old Navy Has Them With 1,000+ Reviews

Whether I'm going on a run in my neighborhood or starting my day off by walking to get a cup of coffee, when I get dressed, the only thing I want to wear is a pair of bike shorts. From an aesthetic standpoint, the idea of wearing a simple long-sleeved tee with biker shorts, an oversize sweatshirt that comes down to almost my knee, or even a blazer over bike shorts all sound like a stylish and comfortable dream. But the real reason I can't stop reaching for them is because they're the perfect option for warm-weather workouts.

I love the feeling of wearing a compression legging for interval training, but when it's warm outside, those leggings become unbearably hot. Shorts are obviously great to run in, but they can bunch easily and typically come with laughable pockets that hold a stick of gum at best. Bike shorts are the perfect answer because they offer the snugness of a tight, and best of all, they don't chafe (as someone who played volleyball for decades in itty-bitty spandex shorts, inner-thigh chafing is a huge no-no for me).

Whether you're looking to pick up a pair of bike shorts for running or lounging around in, Old Navy has the best options for all of your activities. See our top picks.

My Shoulders Always Felt So Tight During Yoga, Until I Learned These 3 Tricks

There's nothing like Warrior 1 to remind me of my unceasing shoulder tension and tightness. As I lift my arms into the air and settle into the position, all I can ever think about is the relief I'll feel when I finally get to drop my arms - because, quite, frankly, it feels like I'm carrying 10-pound weights on each shoulder. The same goes for when I'm in Upward Dog.

Considering these are two very popular yoga poses that show up in every single class I take, and my goal is to feel some physical fluidity and anxiety relief in my practice, I needed to find a fix.

Thankfully, one of my all-time favorite Peloton yoga instructors, Ross Rayburn, came through with a 3-step process for relieving shoulder tension and tightness - in fact, he says it's actually quite a common problem.

Rayburn says each portion of his process "addresses a common misalignment of the shoulders and neck," and this "improved alignment can relieve the protective tension we often experience."

Step One

Take the time to practice a few stretches that help to "reorient the head and the shoulders to a neutral position," Rayburn says.

You might be wondering: what does neutral position even mean? "For the head and the shoulders, neutral usually means 'move backward.' The head and shoulders tend to drop forward or slouch, so generally they need to be moved toward the back plane of the body," Rayburn says.

To do this, try the two stretches below.

1. Clasp your hands behind your back and stretch your chest muscles to move the shoulders back.
2. Clasp your hands behind your head and press your head back (as if into a car headrest) to move the head back to its natural position over the torso.

Step Two

Practice what Rayburn calls "superhero chest," or making your torso - your lungs, ribcage, chest, and upper back - puffed-up and buoyant, like an inflated balloon. Superhero chest, Rayburn explains, "acts like a bio-scaffolding and it starts the process of allowing the shoulders to relax."

Consider it the opposite of a collapsed torso, which he explains forces the head and neck muscles to tighten and hold you up from the outside.

Step Three

"The third step is then relaxing the outer shoulder and neck muscles down onto the buoyant structure you created and maintain," Rayburn says. "The key is not allowing the torso to collapse as the shoulders and neck muscles relax down away from the ears. Too much of either (the inner lift and the outer softening) will result in the neck and shoulders feeling tight."

Essentially, you'll want to practice keeping that buoyant torso, relaxing your shoulders, and maintaining proper head position while doing yoga poses. "So, next time you do an Updog or a Warrior 1, think: head/shoulders back, superhero chest, and keeping those two steps, let go of the tension."

Don't sweat it if acing all these steps at once is challenging - Rayburn says it's truly a lifelong practice and can be implemented in any pose. For me, the simple stretches in Step One (which I perform before I roll out my mat) ease a lot of the tightness in the shoulders. Superhero chest has been a game-changing element to my routine, too - I never realized how much I collapsed my torso while doing yoga. I still have to actively remind myself to implement Rayburn's steps, but when I do, the relaxation I feel in my body makes doing Warrior 1 all the more worthwhile.

Michelle Obama Urges People to Vote at Roots Picnic: "We All Deserve to Have Our Voices Heard"

Michelle Obama helped kick off the annual Roots Picnic on Saturday with a passionate speech about voting. As QuestLove and Black Thought went over the star-studded lineup for the event, their cohost surprised them by jumping on a video chat to say a few words. "These past few months have been pretty heavy for just about everyone and the truth is, we still got our work cut out for us in the weeks and months ahead," she said in the clip. "I want to remind everybody that we got an election coming up and it couldn't be more important that everybody makes their voice be heard this time around." She then encouraged everyone watching to head over to her non-profit organization When We All Vote to get started, because "we all deserve to have our voices heard."

The former first lady echoed similar sentiments during a recent interview for Harper's Bazaar. While chatting with writer and producer Shonda Rhimes, Michelle discussed why voting is important for everyone, but especially for young voters. "Not many people want someone else making their decisions for them, especially when that person might not see the world the same way as they do," she said. "That's what happens when you don't vote: You are giving away your power to someone else-someone who doesn't see the world the same as you. You're letting them make some really key decisions about the way you live." Watch her speech about voting in full above.

The X-Men Cast Had an Epic Reunion, So Naturally, Ryan Reynolds Had to Crash

The cast of the X-Men franchise play superheroes on screen, but they recently paid tribute to the real-life heroes helping during the coronavirus epidemic. During the Global Goal: Unite For Our Future event on Saturday, Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Ryan Reynolds, James McAvoy, Sophie Turner, Liev Schreiber, and Famke Janssen reunited via a hilariously chaotic Zoom call. The video started with the original X-Men jumping on the call, before Reynolds went full Deadpool by crashing the chat and inviting a few other people to join. In Turner's defense, she actually thought it was a Game of Thrones reunion. Naturally, the video call ended with frenemies Jackman and Reynolds awkwardly chatting, before another cast member made a quick cameo.

The star-studded event also included appearances from Billy Porter, who spoke on the importance of fighting for social justice, as well as performances from Chloe x Halle, Jennifer Hudson, Miley Cyrus, and John Legend. Watch the fun X-Men reunion in full above.

5 Dreamy Hair Color Trends to Start Planning For Now - and Pin For Later

Like the spot-on meme that taunts you every time you click open Instagram, there is no birthday trip across the Turkish Riviera, no bar-hopping between rooftops, and no dreamy hair color you found on Pinterest worth the risk in the wake of a pandemic. For now, the safest thing we can all do is stay home as much as possible, but it's still fun to have something to look forward to - especially when it comes to planning your next hair-color adventure.

Even better, all the coolest trends you'll see this summer are taking a hint from your extended time at home. We're talking pastel-washed hues, grown-out roots (but in that pretty, professionally intended way), and hair color that's easy as hell to maintain. Because aren't you all just a bunch of pros by now?

"After lockdown, and not being able to see your stylist for a few months, people want to be able to have their color last longer and require less maintenance in case this happens again."

"This summer, hair color is all going to be about the grow out, whether someone goes very natural or a little more extreme - people aren't going to want to touch up their roots as often," said Stephanie Brown, NYC-based colorist at IGK Salon. "After lockdown, and not being able to see your stylist for a few months, people want to be able to have their color last longer and require less maintenance, so they don't have to come into the salon as much in case this happens again. There are going to be a lot more conversations between colorists and clients about what will look beat and what will grow out best on each individual."

Translation? You can expect the five "easy" hair colors ahead to trend from now until the foreseeable future - and damnit, if that's not a win the world could use right now, we don't know what is.

Boost Your Joint Health With These Inflammation-Fighting Foods

I've turned to ginger to help soothe my horrible period cramps, and I've limited my dairy intake to ease my sinus congestion. Simply put: I'm all for using food as medicine to prevent and manage aches, pains, and annoying ailments.

While I'm very thankful I don't suffer from any serious joint issues, I do deal with exercise-induced pain in my knees and ankles, so joint health is always top of mind for me. I like working certain foods into my daily diet to help keep my joints in great shape. To learn more about how food affects joint health, I reached out to Amy Shapiro, MS, RD, CDN, founder of Real Nutrition and a Daily Harvest nutritionist partner.

Good news: what you eat can play a positive role in your joints' overall health, but in different ways. "Some joint pain comes from inflammation of the joints and the areas around it. By cutting out inflammatory foods and including anti-inflammatory foods in your diet, you can decrease the inflammation around the joints over time, which can then help to decrease the pain associated with joints," Shapiro says. She says some foods can also help build bone density, which can strengthen the bones, and foods can also help strengthen connective tissues that support these joints.

But all of this isn't going to happen instantaneously. Shapiro says you really need to give yourself a good three to six months to feel the difference in your body. "Remember, it takes time for your body to respond, build tissues, build bone density and to promote healing. It also takes consistency to see results," she says.

As for what to eat, Shapiro says the foods and nutrients below are all beneficial for joint health. While these are probably items you already have in your fridge and might even eat on the reg, it's always a good idea to check in with your doctor and get the OK before making major modifications to your diet.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

You can turn to nuts, seeds, and cold water fish, like salmon, for your omega 3 fatty acids, which help to decrease inflammation in the body.

Brassica Veggies

Shapiro says that brassica veggies, also known as cruciferous veggies, can help fight joint inflammation. "These include Brussels sprouts, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage! They tend to block enzymes that cause swelling in joints."

Berries

Kudos if you already add a serving of berries to your daily breakfast! According to Shapiro, berries, but especially dark-colored berries, have anthocyanins, which are "flavonoids that helps turn off inflammatory markers in the body."

Pineapple

Chop up some pineapple for a sweet midday snack. Shapiro explains that the fruit contains bromelain, which is an enzyme shown to reduce arthritis inflammation and pain.

Root Veggies and Herbs

Add garlic, onion, turmeric, and ginger to your grocery list: "all have anti-inflammatory properties which help to decrease pain associated with joints," Shapiro says.
