This Artist Smashes Stereotypes by Giving Men Superheroes a Sexy, Pinup-Style Makeover

In David Talaski-Brown's mind, Thor doesn't wear a red cape and full-body armor - he rocks a pink polka-dot robe, green Hulk slippers, and, well, that's about it. Portland-based artist David is flipping the script with men superheroes, giving them a sexy makeover as a nod to the way scantily clad women superheroes are traditionally depicted.

"There's always been a lack of sexy male art on comic convention floors," he told POPSUGAR. "I thought this would be a fun way to create some equal opportunity when I tabled at my first convention last year. I've always been a big fan of midcentury pinup artists like Gil Elvgren, and the idea of putting male superheroes in similar poses and situations typically portrayed with women felt appropriate and cheeky."

And cheeky they are! David's illustrations, which he paints digitally using the Procreate app on his iPad before adding the finishing touches in Photoshop, show a whole lotta skin, and sometimes even subtle peeks at the character's derriere. David's art has garnered positive reactions far and wide - so much so that his Etsy shop, which sells prints of his sexy men superheroes, is constantly selling out. Ahead, admire David's unique depictions of Star-Lord, T'Challa, Doctor Strange, and more. Our fingers are crossed for sexy Spider-Man and Hulk portraits soon!

Lucifer Is Back in a Season 5 Trailer Full of Brotherly Woes, Butts, and Lots of Hellfire

It's finally here! The trailer for the fifth - and not so final - season of Lucifer has finally arrived, and the two-minute video is packed with delicious surprises. Welcome the latest member of Lucifer's family to make their onscreen appearance: Michael, his twin brother!

Instead of everyone's favorite fallen angel making his return to Los Angeles after leaving for Hell in season four, it's Michael who makes his grand entrance under the guise of being his brother. Michael holds a grudge against Lucifer and plans to usurp the latter's life on the mortal plane as payback. He must be the younger brother. There's no telling how long Michael plays the role of his brother, but when Lucifer finally makes his way back topside, it's far from a happy reunion. And of course, the rest of the cast has to deal with their shenanigans as well as their own life: Chloe seems to have serious misgivings about romance, Ella finally finds a nice guy, and Amenadiel adjusts to the whole fatherhood thing. It's definitely going to be a fiery season!

Watch the trailer above, and take a first look at the special noir episode from the upcoming season before Lucifer returns on Aug. 21.

Feeling Stressed? Read These 5 Self-Care Tips From the Front Line by a Doctor Testing For COVID-19

We are halfway through 2020, and none of us is exactly where we imagined we would be. Whether it was our goals, plans, or even our routines, we have all had to change course due to COVID-19.

I'm a pediatric ophthalmologist in Brunei who has unexpectedly spent my last few months in a gym - not to exercise, but to work on the front lines in a converted COVID-19 testing center. The day COVID-19 broke out in March, I had just performed cataract surgery on a 1-year-old baby. The very next day, I was redeployed and swabbing high-suspect COVID-19 cases.

I suspect you may be in a similar situation in that, very quickly, you have had to adapt to an unconventional workplace. Instead of your office, perhaps you've been working in your garage, or crammed in some small corner of your apartment. But sometimes, upending the where creates the right moment to refocus on the why.

What is your why? Here is mine: first and foremost, I am a physician, and everything I do is to be in service of others. Given my specialty, I'm typically addressing issues affecting eyesight, either in my own clinic or through my efforts to train eye-care teams around the world. In fact, when the pandemic hit, I was a few weeks away from being in Lusaka, Zambia, as a volunteer on board Orbis International's Flying Eye Hospital, which is a teaching hospital on a plane that takes ophthalmic training to areas with the greatest need.

Like me, many of my colleagues at the testing center are specialists who are used to a very different day-to-day: orthopedic surgeons, urologists, psychiatrists. But we all went to medical school - we can all do a swab and take a medical history. It is what we need to do to be of greatest service now.

In global health, resilience, flexibility, and creativity are paramount. As doctors, we must be able to adapt and improvise as we work for the greater good. This year, that lesson applies to all of us. We are all figuring out what we need to do to stay well - and help keep others well - not only physically but mentally and emotionally, too.

There is no one set of rules on how to cope. However, there are some approaches to self-care that I have found helpful during this time. I hope they can support not just other essential workers but everyone who is adjusting to our shared new reality.

How to Practice Self-Care During a Pandemic

Schedule time for rest and reflection. There's a time for setting goals and ticking off the to-do list, and there's a time to slow down and rest. Honor all those times. I've been especially conscious and mindful not to overburden myself during this time. If you're exhausted, rest. Personally, I set aside some time each day to meditate. I usually meditate first thing in the morning for 10-15 minutes after waking up - it's my lifeline! If I have any hiccups during the day, I'll perform some deep breathing exercises for five minutes, which usually does the trick.

Allow space for your feelings. Now truly isn't the time to keep feelings buried. There are no right or wrong feelings. If you're feeling sad, give yourself permission to cry and let it out. I allow myself to feel and process whatever emotions arise, be it anguish, disappointment, sadness, or anger.

Take it day-by-day. If you've taken on too much, be honest about it, and see what things can wait. We're all doing the best we can under very strange, difficult conditions. Truly, no lecture or course in our medical training could have prepared us for this.

Limit information intake. You might be surprised to see this one from a doctor. While it is crucial to stay informed, we must set boundaries around our intake. When the pandemic first hit, I think many of us instinctively raced to consume everything in the media that had to do with COVID-19. I found that this information overload started to have detrimental effects on my emotional health, so I limit myself to a daily 10-minute update. I also make it a point not to read the news first thing in the morning.

Lean on a supportive social network. People ask how I "balance it all," and the reality is, I don't. My balance has been made possible by family members, friends, and loved ones who have provided emotional support. I'm also grateful that I've connected with dozens of amazing, inspiring individuals on social media. We've supported one another throughout this, and when you surround yourself with positive company, it makes a huge difference.

Much of what we're all being called to do, whether that's to socially distance, practice good hygiene, or wear a mask in public, is rightfully about taking care of one another. Your willingness to be adaptable during this time matters and is saving lives. Each of us must also give ourselves the space to recognize that adapting to a new normal has a psychological toll. By making time for true self-care and reflection, we increase our resilience and capacity to hold a nurturing space for ourselves and others, so that we can face all that's ahead, together.

We're Very Intrigued by the Secret Movie Zendaya and John David Washington Filmed in Quarantine

Talk about working under unique circumstances - Zendaya and John David Washington recently finished filming a secret movie titled Malcolm & Marie during the COVID-19 shutdown.

Deadline broke the news on Wednesday, July 8, reporting that Zendaya reached out to Euphoria creator Sam Levinson to write the project, after production on their HBO series was shut down in March due to the pandemic. The 23-year-old actress asked if the director would be able to write and direct a film during quarantine and Levinson had the draft ready six days later.

After Levinson secured Tenet star Washington for the role of Malcolm, filming took place between June 17 to July 2 at the Caterpillar House, described as an "environmentally conscious glass architectural marvel." The film's producers, which included Levinson's production partner and wife Ashley Levinson and Kevin Turin, worked closely with doctors, lawyers, WGA, DGA, and SAG to meet all the requirements necessary for the film to legally go into production. Numerous precautions were taken during production to ensure the health of the cast, crew, and various persons on set, including a two-week quarantine before filming began, cast and crew having their own separate dwellings with individual HVAC units, rehearsals in the parking lot, and temperature checks at the beginning and end of each day. Deadline has a complete rundown of all the safety measures taken and it's fair to say that production worked hard to ensure everyone's well-being.

An official synopsis of the film hasn't been released, but Deadline described the film as having "some echoes" of Netflix's Marriage Story, while incorporating social themes related to what the world is experiencing right now. Euphoria cinematographer Marcell Rév and production designer Michael Grasley were also involved in the project, so however the story plays out, it's sure to be gorgeous. In what appears to confirm that belief, Zendaya shared a film still of the project on her Twitter account. The actress is seen leaning over Washington as he reclines against the side of what looks like a bed.

It looks particularly romantic, but if we recall, Marriage Story wasn't exactly a happy-go-lucky love story. For all we know, this scene could be a tense confrontation between lovers! It's all a mystery, but there's one thing we know for sure - we can't wait to see what it's about!

I'm Practicing Sound Baths at Home - Here Are the Meditation Instruments I'm Shopping

These days, I need to be washed away by a tidal wave of calming sounds and vibrations to really focus and unwind during my meditation sessions.

I've relied on virtual sound baths to get the job done while away from my studio - but the longer I see myself staying home, the more my online shopping carts fill up with chimes, singing bowls, and drums.

Ahead, you'll find the soothing instruments I'm browsing to build my at-home meditation practice - may they bring you rejuvenating peace, too.

Lightweight, Breezy Pants For Long Walks on the Beach

A long evening walk on the beach isn't exactly calming if you're shivering the entire time. When the gentle salty breeze picks up slightly and the sun dips below the horizon, you'll want to be prepared with the right gear so you can keep your stroll going for as long as possible.

These pants and joggers are made with lightweight, sweat-wicking, and even UV-protecting materials, so you can stay comfortable walking, running, jumping, and dancing on the sand without feeling overheated - because that's not fun, either.

The Old Guard's Villain Is a Familiar Face: Dudley Freakin' Dursley!

If you're watching the new Netflix movie The Old Guard, you might notice that the film's villain looks familiar. We'll save you the trouble of looking him up: yep, that's Dudley Dursley, aka actor Harry Melling, who plays the villainous pharma-bro Steven Merrick! Fans are delighted to recognize the actor, who looks pretty different from his days as Harry Potter's petulant, spoiled cousin.

After the Potter films ended in 2011, Melling disappeared from the spotlight for a little while. Aside from a few roles on British TV shows, he stayed largely off-screen, turning instead to the stage, where he performed in twelve plays between 2011 and 2017, mostly in the UK. His credits during that time include three separate productions of King Lear, the lead (dual) role in the comedy Hand to God, and more.

Melling returned to the big screen in 2016's The Lost City of Z, then again in the 2018 quirky Western film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Since then, he's been steadily working with a couple of films each year. Right now, he's got another movie scheduled to debut in 2020 - the war thriller The Devil All the Time - and is slated to play Malcolm in The Tragedy of Macbeth, Joel Coen's adaptation of the Shakespeare play. For now, though, keep reading to see what fans had to say about seeing Dudley all grown up and villainous as ever!

The Old Guard: Andy's History Goes Much Further Back Than You Probably Think

Charlize Theron's Andy is the oldest of the immortals in Netflix's new movie The Old Guard, but just how old is her character supposed to be? Her backstory doesn't seem to point to a specific event that helps pinpoint her age, like her colleagues, but savvy viewers will catch a reference that at least narrows down how old Andy might be.

The key to Andy's age is said near the end of the movie, almost so quickly that you can't notice it: she's referred to as "Andromache of Scythia" in one scene, and the same title appears again in the "bulletin board" credits. That's Andy's "real" name, meaning that she originated from the empire of Scythia - which is really, really old! Scythia was an ancient empire in eastern Europe and central Asia, which is believed to have spanned from around the 11th century BCE to the 2nd century CE. Doing the math, then, would put Andy's age, at the youngest, at somewhere around 1,800 years, and at the oldest, she could be over 3,000 years old!

In the comic books on which the TV show is based, however, Andy is even older: she's specifically said to be 6,732 years old. The name Andromache references two different figures from ancient mythology. In Greek mythology, Andromache was a Trojan princess by marriage, the wife of the Trojan prince Hector who was killed by the hero Achilles. According to the legend, she was taken as a concubine by Achilles's son Neoptolemeus and outlived all of the figures of the Trojan War, which was supposed to have occurred somewhere around the 13th or 12th century BCE. Another Andromache crossed paths with mythological figures: a vase painting dated from around 570 BCE depicts Andromache, queen of the Amazons, doing battle with Heracles (aka Hercules).

Andy's friends have slightly more specific backstories that point to their ages. Joe and Nicky both became immortal at the same time, fighting during the First Crusade, which took place between 1096 and 1099. The comics expand on their backstory (and relationship) in somewhat hilarious fashion: they were on opposite sides of the battle, killed each other, and figured out they were both immortal when they kept killing each other and reviving together each time. Their fourth team member, Booker, became immortal during the Napoleonic wars at the beginning of the 19th century. Like his colleagues, his backstory is further expanded in the comics: he was a French soldier who was killed for desertion during the infamous long Russian winter. And the newest immortal, Nile, is a modern-day soldier, presumably in her late twenties (actress KiKi Layne is 28). Put together, all of this definitely puts Andy as the oldest among the Old Guard, probably by a millennium or more.

The Reason Unsolved Mysteries Won't Feature Any Update Episodes Makes Total Sense

Netflix decided to give internet sleuths another run at cracking eerie cases by reviving Unsolved Mysteries. In July, the streaming platform released the first batch of six episodes, featuring unexplained disappearances, family tragedies, and UFO sightings. The true-crime series uses interviews and news reports to retell the circumstances of each case, but unlike the original show, there isn't a host or any extensive re-enactments. Since there are still six more episodes expected to drop later this year as part of season one, fans are wondering whether any of those will be update episodes, and the answer to that is no.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, cocreater Terry Dunn Meurer said she doesn't think they'll happen in the future due to how fast social media works when it comes to covering stories in real time. "We would like to [have update episodes] but it's trickier on the streaming platform," she explained. "I guess maybe we could produce an extra [episode]? But we're assuming that with social media if there's a significant update on any of these cases, it will probably be pushed out faster on there. If something happens, it'll happen very quickly if there's big news because a case got solved . . . since now it's not broadcast, it's a different kind of animal. Trust me, the world will know if one of these cases gets solved."

Since the reboot's premiere, Meurer recently told TMZ that they've received upwards of 1,500 tips over the six new Netflix episodes. Of those 1,500, 50 were flagged as credible and were forwarded to appropriate law enforcement agencies.

Calling All Internet Sleuths: There Are More Unsolved Mysteries Episodes on the Way

It looks like your days of crime-solving aren't over quite yet! Netflix recently revived the popular Unsolved Mysteries series, releasing six episodes of cases involving UFO sightings, family tragedies, and unexplained disappearances. But if you're like us and you've already binge-watched all six episodes, don't worry, because there are more on the way. However, you're going to have to wait a while. In an interview with Decider, a rep for the show revealed that season one consists of a total of 12 episodes. The first six premiered in July, and the remaining six will drop later this year, though no release date has been announced yet.

Now you're probably wondering whether a season two is in the cards, right? Well, we're still not totally sure. While there hasn't been an official confirmation, there is serious interest. "I'm hoping we'll be chatting with Netflix about a season two, but we haven't yet," cocreater Terry Dunn Meurer told Entertainment Weekly. "We already have some cases in mind if we do! We have a database of hundreds of stories that have come in through the years. Unfortunately, there are a lot of unsolved mysteries out there that we wish we could get exposure to all of them. It's so gratifying when we're able to bring people closure and our wish it to do this for more of them. That's the dream."

The original Unsolved Mysteries was hosted by the late Robert Stack, and when asked if the show would add a host if it got a second season, Meurer said she didn't think so. "I think that we thought long and hard about this and it was a tough decision to make. At this point, we feel like the decision was the right one. There's nobody that could really replace Bob," she said. "The other part of the decision was wanting the people whose stories we were talking about to tell their own stories. With this decision, we're able to spend more time with the people in the stories developing them as characters so the audience can get to know them better. This is something we were never able to do before in the original episodes. There's a lot of story content to cover and we never had enough time to spend with the characters in the stories."

If Unsolved Mysteries does score a renewal, don't expect any update episodes, either. "We would like to [have update episodes] but it's trickier on the streaming platform," Meurer explained. "I guess maybe we could produce an extra [episode]? But we're assuming that with social media if there's a significant update on any of these cases, it will probably be pushed out faster on there. If something happens, it'll happen very quickly if there's big news because a case got solved." Here's hoping we get a second season!

Heard People Talking About Ranch Water? Here's How to Make the Deliciously Refreshing Drink

I'll admit that when I first heard of ranch water, I was confused. Why in the world would someone want to mix water with their ranch dressing? But as it turns out, ranch water has nothing to do with watered-down dressing. Instead, ranch water is a deliciously light and refreshing cocktail that's great for sipping in the summer - and, I'd imagine, even better if you're sipping it on an actual ranch!

This popular Texan cocktail is reminiscent of a light, crisp margarita and is incredibly easy to make and only takes a few ingredients: tequila, lime juice, and Topo Chico, which is a bubbly mineral water. The type of tequila you use is entirely up to you, and given the simplicity of the drink, you certainly don't need to be reaching for any top-shelf stuff. The Topo Chico, however, is pretty nonnegotiable. Tonic water just doesn't have the same bubbly effect that Topo Chico does, so don't skimp on this ingredient.

When it comes to crafting the actual cocktail, I personally do equal parts tequila and lime juice, add some ice, and then top it off with the Topo Chico. That's it! It's supereasy and delicious, and there are plenty of ways to get creative with it - add a salt rim, try a flavor-infused tequila, etc. Whether you want to add your own flair or keep it simple, this drink is bound to make your summer nights a little more enjoyable!

Watch a 3-Year-Old Prove Representation Matters as She Points to Hamilton's Phillipa Soo and Says, "It's Me"

The live-recorded movie version of Broadway's Hamilton debuted on Disney+ on July 3, and fans around the world are rejoicing in being able to access Lin-Manuel Miranda's work of art on demand, rather than having to purchase pricey theater tickets. One such fan is 3-year-old Jenna, who is proving that representation matters after seeing Phillipa Soo - one of the many diverse cast members in Lin's show, who plays Alexander Hamilton's wife, Eliza - in the film. In a video shared to Instagram by Phillipa, Jenna can be seen watching the movie on a laptop. "It's me!" she says, as Eliza glides on screen in the middle of "Helpless."

"Little Jenna here is exactly why #representationmatters," Phillipa wrote on Instagram. "I am so grateful for this show, that so many young people can watch this show and say 'It's me'." Jenna's aunt, Britney Thai, works with the Hamilton team and shared the video with Phillipa directly. Britney told POPSUGAR that for her family, even being able to witness Jenna experience this moment of pride is emotional, as she suffered from heart and lung failure when she was just a year-and-a-half old.

"Our family has been so grateful to receive all the kind messages about the importance of this video and what representation means to so many people," Britney told POPSUGAR. "Jenna is our fighter and we are incredibly lucky to see her on the road to full recovery. To witness her thrive in moments like this, where she gets to discover role models and see herself on screen, has been so meaningful. Jenna is a little too young to understand the impact of this moment so we are archiving all the messages we've received so she can read when she's older (right now, she's too busy being a princess AND a doctor AND a chef)!"

Britney added: "We want to thank Phillipa Soo for her support and her incredible work. We are proud to see her representing the [Asian American and Pacific Islander communities] in the arts!"

If you'd like to write a letter to Jenna about the impact of seeing her video or to share with her what representation means to you, you can email her now and she'll get to read it when she's older. Or, Britney shared, "If you are able and would like to provide additional support, we encourage you to donate to Children's Hospital LA where Jenna received her treatment, so we can all further help those like Jenna to find moments where they too can dream and thrive."

Amy Schumer's 3-Part Docuseries, Expecting Amy, Details Her Emotional Pregnancy Journey

Comedian Amy Schumer has been nothing but candid when it comes to sharing the highs and lows of her pregnancy and parenting her 1-year-old son, Gene. In the past, she's publicly modeled a less-than-glamorous pair of mesh underwear and spoken openly about her struggles with hyperemesis gravidarum, or severe morning sickness. Now, the 39-year-old mom is giving her fans a look at what it's like to be on the road as a standup comedian while pregnant in her new three-part docuseries, Expecting Amy.

Available to stream on HBO Max today, the docuseries explores Amy's marriage to her husband, Chris Fischer, and illustrates the pressure on women to "do it all" without complaining.

"It takes viewers behind-the-scenes as Schumer battles through an extraordinarily difficult pregnancy while documenting the formation of a comedy special," reads a press release for the series. "Schumer continues touring to prepare for the taping in Chicago that she isn't sure she will be able to execute. It focuses on pulling the curtain completely back on her marriage to husband Chris Fischer, and the journey to his diagnosis on the autism spectrum."

Watch until the end to get a few small looks at what Amy went through on her pregnancy journey, and stream Expecting Amy on HBO Max now!
